Vino El Amor # 11, November 9, 2016: Vino El Awkward Workplace Situations
Quick Plot Points - Full Recap Follows After the Jump:
- David stood up for Marta and Luciana to Liliana. David makes the workplace decisions! Liliana wasn't happy about this.
- David isn't ready to sell the vineyard to evil olive oil guy and Juan. Juan may have been making workplace decisions for awhile, but now David is back making the workplace decisions. They aren't happy about this.
- Liliana has made a workplace decision of her own - she's just going to make life hell for Marta and Luciana, starting with dropping a dish and making Marta clean it up. Marta can deal with that, but warns Liliana to watch it when it comes to Luciana.
- Miguel and Luciana are totally cute as he gives her the vineyard tour. He's happy about this.
- Miguel's totally cute tour is broken up by David who wants to give Luciana a vineyard tour. It's awkward. Miguel is jealous.
- Fernanda overhears Miguel and Carlos/Tano discussing Miguel's jealousy and Luciana's hotness and makes it more awkward. Fer is not happy that her crush Tano thinks Luciana is hot.
- Luciana has an idea concerning organic grapes but she needs open sunlight through a window to discuss it with David. He does not like this. They fall on top of each other fighting over the drapes. It's awkward.
- Fernanda walks in on this "workplace meeting" and doesn't like it. Even more awkward. She demands that David get rid of Luciana. He won't. Too bad. David makes the workplace decisions!
- Miguel walks in on a Mean Girls division meeting and calls them out. Perla makes it more awkward by telling Miguel that Carito crushes on him.
- Luciana wants to tend to a dying rosebush. David doesn't like that and says no. DAVID MAKES THE WORKPLACE DECISIONS.
- Gutierrez visits Liliana and flirts with Marta. Awkward.
- Susan and Cesar have a (not all that awkward, just normal awkward) first date but then he brings her back to the vineyard office. That was kind of awkward.
- Carlos/Tano is apparently crushing on Susan and tells her this but also tells her he thought she only liked professional men. She gets mad he judged her as a snooty type. Awkward.
- Fueled by the awkward situations above, Fernanda officially joins the I Hate Luciana Sooooo Much club after hanging with Liliana and skype sessions with Gracie. She visits the worker house to tell Luciana this! Awkward!
Recap (some scenes combined):
We begin with a recap of the standoff between David, Luciana and Liliana. David basically assures Luciana that Marta's job is safe and Luciana has a job, on a trial basis. Luciana thanks him and excuses herself.
Liliana then asks David why he is suddenly disrepecting her. She tries to draw Juan into it, but Juan
refuses to be drawn into "personal things." David repeats that he thanks Liliana for all she has done for his family, but he is the only one who makes the workplace decisions. Liliana says that Luciana's presence is going to bring many problems. Juan tells David something along the lines of that he'll prepare Luciana's contract, but basically, he agrees with Liliana.
Luciana finds Miguel in the cellar with the wine barrels (to be honest, I'm not sure what all the wine-making facilities and equipment are called, so please correct where needed). She tells him that she told David she'd take the job but only if "that witch" stopped bothering Marta. Miguel laughs and is thrilled she's staying. He gives her a big hug and expresses how happy he is that she'll be working there and his hopes she'll be happy too. She says if you had seen how David talked to Liliana, and Miguel advises her to ignore them, her mom's job is safe. If Luciana does her job, her job will be safe too. Susan joins them in the cellar. She's happy to hear that Luciana will be working there too. Luciana goes to inform Marta she took the job. Susan asks Miguel about his relationship with Luciana and Miguel fills her in on Luciana's back story (deportation with dad) and their childhood romance. Susan totally calls Miguel out on being in lovvvveeeeee. (Aw, I think Miguel is cute and Luciana should go for it. He's a nice boy.) Miguel calls Susan out on Cesar suddenly being a frequent vineyard visitor. Susan resets them back to work on vineyard matters.
Juan and David continue to speak (Liliana has left the scene). Juan reminds David of the big offer to purchase the vineyard. He tells David that the vineyard's finances are poor and it has bad memories; it's better to sell the place! David says the problem is that he hasn't been in charge. Juan asks if he means that it's Juan's fault. David says no, he (David) just hasn't been all there. But now he is! He has noted that he needs to take charge of his land and his family. Juan tells him that the vineyard has been modernized and that now David will see all that Juan has been doing and that it hasn't been easy. David acknowledges this, but says that now he and Juan will run the vineyard together. Juan encourages him to meet with buyer. David agrees but says he will not take the offer to sell.
Luciana has told Marta about the job and that David told Liliana to leave Marta alone. Marta hopes that Liliana will do that; she can't understand why Liliana hates her so much. Luciana thinks it's because the kids like Marta better. Marta fears what Liliana will come up with next. Luciana tells her not to worry.
Liliana muses to Sonia about what the heck Luciana has done to David to make him act like this. She's sure it's just going to get worse. The mean girls, Perla and Carito, walk in and ask what they can do to help. Liliana declares Luciana to be very dangerous! We need to make her life a living hell! The I Hate Luciana Soooooo Much Club (IHLSM Club) is officially formed.
Susan shows Luciana a new wine. They need to prepare information for the press kit for the wine's launch. To do that, Luciana will need to learn all about the vineyard as it is today. The perfect person to show her all that is Miguel! (I agree, Team Miguel here.) Luciana wants to show Liliana what's what and to do that, she needs to do a great job at the vineyard. Miguel will be sure to help her! They go take a little tour of the vineyard and wine-making equipment.
Marta is fixing Fernanda's hair and Fer asks her why she's so happy. Marta is happy Luciana got the job. Fer worries that Marta will be so busy with Luciana that she won't have time for her and bratty Bobby. Marta tells her that won't happen and she wishes Fer would befriend Luciana. Bratty Bobby walks in and asks Marta if Luciana is going to stay. Marta says yes, and Bobby is "COOL!" He tells Fer not to start with her bad vibes. Luciana has super cool vibes and can teach him karate and football! Marta laughs at the kid while Fer sneers at him.
The tour continues as Miguel shows Luciana the barrels where the fine wine is stored, and some other more modern machines where the boxed wine is made. Luciana comments on how modern the machinery is. Apparently Lisa gets the credit for that (not so much Juan).
Liliana comes in on Marta and deliberately spills something, then tells her to clean it up. As Marta does, she starts in with the Luciana hate. Liliana thinks Luciana just wants to use David and she plans to make Luciana suffer! Marta tells her to leave Luciana alone or she'll answer to Marta.
The tour has finished and Luciana tells Miguel she thought the old way of making wine is a little more romantic because with stomping on the grapes, people had to put their bodies into it. Miguel agrees and compliments Luciana on how she puts her heart into what she does and says. (AWWW!) I didn't quite understand what he asked her next - it sounded like he invited her to a wine party. Whatever it was, Luciana agreed and they hugged - which David saw from afar. David calls to them and they jump apart. Miguel lets David know he was giving a tour. David is happy he did, and invites Luciana to come with him to look at more vineyard things! Miguel looks green like the grapes.
Team Sell the Vineyard to the Evil Olive Oil Guy is having a meeting. Juan notes that things are getting out of hand. Liliana blames it all on Luciana. Juan is um, no, this is a Team Sell the Vineyard meeting, not the IHLSM Club meeting! Juan informs Liliana that David doesn't want to sell; instead, he wants to take charge of the vineyard again. Liliana still blames it on Luciana and says she told Juan they shouldn't sell. Juan says he had no choice, look at how David was. He will try to stall the buyer. Liliana notes that they sure don't want David getting into the company finances ... Or else David will discover that Juan has been altering the supplier prices. Liliana says they may want to stop doing that for now. Juan agrees, but it's too late to change the last order. Liliana tells him he better cover up the real prices or he'll be in serious troubles. Juan is, um make that a WE. Liliana evilly asks him who he thinks David would believe, the lady of the house with no business experience, or the administrator of the vineyard? She points out that Juan is the one with everything to lose.
David has taken Luciana to a point where they can see all of the land. It's pretty expansive! He shows her the first vine they planted - it had come from Mexico. And then he shows her some younger vines that he thinks will produce high quality wine. Luciana says all they need is time, care and love, and the earth will take care of the rest. The couple share a bonding look at each other.
Miguel is still standing in the same spot with a troubled look. Tano asks him what's going on and Miguel says he wasn't crazy that the boss took over Luciana's tour. Tano basically says that's the way it goes, pal!
Ooh Miguel wouldn't like that David has taken Luciana to the cellar. He shows her the "grand reserve" wine. It's their best and it's the last strain that Marcos sowed before deportation. Luciana says that her father would have been happy to try it. David is saving the first bottle of it for Fernanda's 18th birthday (ah this is going to be Plot Bottle of Wine I see). Luciana is sure this will be a success. David agrees and starts to talk about a promise he made to Lisa... a sadness washes over his face and he quickly excuses himself. Luciana is confused.
Tano reassures Miguel that the boss hasn't gotten over Lisa's death yet. Miguel is not so sure, as he saw the way David looked at Luciana. Tano says it's normal for the boss to show a new employee the vineyard and explain the job expectations to her. Miguel says, yes, but Luciana is very pretty! Any man would notice. Tano agrees with that, but sadly for him, Fernanda overhears him and tells Miguel to scram, she needs to talk to Tano. Uh oh. Fer demands to know why he thinks Luciana is pretty and why Tano is talking about this. Tano promises he is not into Luciana but Fernanda does not believe him. She stomps off. Boiling bunnies ahead for you, Tano!
Susan finds Luciana and asks her about the tour. Luciana says it was fine but weird. She noticed that they all praised Susan's work. Susan says it hasn't been easy. Did Luciana see the cellar? She did, but suddenly David got a strange attitude and left. Susan comments that is strange. Cesar arrives and meets Luciana. Luciana recalls him helping Leon as a little boy. They say it's nice to meet each other. Luciana leaves and Cesar and Susan awkwardly make a date with each other.
Carito is cleaning Juan's office window and Perla asks her where he is. Carito doesn't know. She only came to clean his office because everywhere else the vineyard is discussing Luciana and if she will stay. Perla doesn't understand why Luciana didn't leave after they graffiti-ed up her closet. It's an IHLSM Club meeting! Carito says of course the slut wouldn't leave after that, after all, she is a slut! Oops, Luciana fan club president Miguel overheard that! He calls them out on this trash talk. He's not surprised to hear this from Perla, but he's shocked Carito would do it! Carito stands by it. Miguel asks how they can judge her, and Perla says, well, she's known Luciana since childhood, and Luciana is a bitch! Miguel disagrees and returns to harping on Carito. Perla "tries to help" by telling Miguel to lay off, Carito is only jealous because she is dying to go out with you! Thanks Perla!
David is sitting in a darkened study, with the shades drawn. Luciana pops in there with an idea for an organic wine, no additives! To discuss this properly, she needs light, though. So she just goes over and opens the curtains! David is like HEY DON'T TOUCH MY STUFF! He gets up and grabs her and they awkwardly fall down into each others' arms. The theme song plays and there's a moment...
Which is broken when David gets up and repeats that she is not to get into his affairs and things. Luciana launches into her life goes on, move on, speech. She thought today he was getting it. David says he is trying to make his life better. Luciana tells him he said "better" - why not make it "best"? David repeats that she should stay out of his business. Luciana counters that she saw a glimpse of better David down in the cellar. David wants to stop arguing; which is accomplished by Fernanda interrupting and asking what is happening.
Fernanda demands to know why Luciana is arguing with her father? Luciana says it's because she was trying to make David better, but everything has to be a problem. She tells Fernanda, not to worry, she is leaving. Then she tells David, in a snotty tone, "Sorry to bother you, boss!" and huffs out. David tells Fer not to sweat it, but Fer replies that her grandmother was right, Luciana is rude and David should get rid of her. David says that neither grandma nor Fer get to make work decisions; he does!
Mortified Carito quickly tells Miguel that what Perla said isn't true and they are only friends, she knows that. Miguel makes sure she knows that he loves her, but only like a friend. After he leaves, Carito turns on her fellow mean girl and asks Perla why she said that? So Miguel will see her as horrid like Luciana? She thought Perla was her friend!
Luciana is outside now, and sees a rose bush that is dying. She talks to the plant and asks how they could let it die like that. David is like HEY DON'T TOUCH MY FLOWERS! Luciana doesn't understand why he let the flowers die like that. David just wants her to leave the flowers alone. Luciana says that he prefers for everything to just wither, rot and die. It turns out that David gave Lisa this rose garden. Luciana is oh boy, here we go again, and tells him she know she will be reprimanded, but it is hard for her to leave a dying plant alone when a weedy part of it lives on. He just needs to water the garden! There might not be life left in David, but he can't just let his garden and all those who live here go neglected.
Miguel asks Luciana how things are going with the boss. LOL. Luciana notes that David seems fine and then suddenly he's very affected and moody. He's a bitter man and Luciana doesn't really want to get to know him better. Miguel is fine with that! Miguel explains that he's glad David is taking an interest in the vineyard again. The vineyard business had not gone well during the time David was out of it. Luciana says she doesn't plan to change herself just to get along better with David. Miguel says she shouldn't, she's
Fernanda has skyped Graciela. Thanks, Fernanda. Graciela doesn't even want to be back in the plot and asks Fer why she contacted her. Fer needs to vent. Basically, ever since Marta's daughter arrived, Dad is weird and he's fighting with grandma, who wanted to run her out of here but he let her stay. Gracie says well, grandma never liked Marta. Fer then mentions that she caught David and Luciana together and there was something something there. Graciela laughs. Fer says it's true, and she needs to do something because she doesn't like it at all. She thought Luciana was flirting with David, and grandmother senses it too. Fer wants Gracie to visit (NOOOOOOOOOO). Gracie can't right now, because she has an upcoming exhibition in Milan (YAY), but she will come after that's over. (Darn.)
Gutierrez comes for a visit and flirts with Marta when she opens the door.
Marta wanted to tell Liliana about something Bobby did - but Liliana cuts her off, she's just the maid! Now go get them a drink! Guiterrez asks Liliana if she had to be so rude. Liliana reminds him that Marta is one of those immigrants he hates.
Luciana gives Bobby a present to say thank you for being honest and taking the rap for breaking the window. It's some Mexican candy. Bobby likes it. They play hide and seek. David watches. Bobby thanks David for letting Luciana stay. David tells him it was because of Bobby's honesty. Bobby says that David is almost acting like he did before thanks to Luciana. David is moved and says that it is hard to change overnight, and he hopes Bobby will be patient. Bobby says he will, but he wants his dad to promise he will try too, because it's been a hard two years. David apologizes for not being there when his son needed him. Bobby says that it's OK, but promise that Marta and Luciana won't leave! Liliana hears this, unfortunately, and asks if they convinced Bobby to say good things about them. Bobby says no. Fernanda steps in and agrees with Liliana. David tells Liliana to stop putting thoughts into his children's heads and let them form their own opinions. Liliana makes a note that he's defending that woman again and then says, do your kids know you took a dip in the river with her! Fernanda hears that and says, "Que?"
Carito and Perla are still bickering and saying mean things about Luciana. Carito is worried people will say she's a slut, and she's not. Perla tells her not to be old-fashioned. Carito asks her if she is with someone. Perla will only say, when Perla goes out, it's not to mass! Miguel, with Luciana, finds them and says, good now you two can apologize! Carito says she has nothing to be sorry about. Luciana tells Miguel not to worry about it, she's got the mean girls' number and she doesn't care what they think of her. Perla is like, good, because I definitely think it! Carito is more reluctant to be rude to Luciana's face, but Luciana thanks Miguel for trying but she really doesn't care about these two. We're with you on that, Luciana!
Thanks to Liliana, David explains the river thing and Bobby now thinks his dad is a super-hero. Fer thinks that Bobby is dumb and Luciana obviously faked drowning to get dad in the river with her. David tells Fer that she's the confused one, but now she's heard the truth from him. Now do your homework! And as for Liliana, David tells her that the last time she says something like that to his kids. He appreciates what she's done for them, but he has a limit!
Evil Olive Oil Guy and Juan meet for a meal. Evil Olive Oil Guy waits for no vineyard, he wants to buy David's vineyard now. Juan pleads for more time and for EOOG to be patient. EOOG waits for no one. They better sell him that vineyard and soon!
The big Cesar/Susan date has begun! He keeps looking in her eyes - they're so pretty! He tells her that he and David were college roommates. David met Lisa in college too. Sometimes they would all go out - David, Lisa, Gracie and Juan. Susan asks how David became friends with Juan. Cesar explains they have known each other since childhood and are like brothers. At times, it seemed like Juan envied David. Juan apparently always wanted Lisa, so when Lisa and David became a couple, Juan was set to the side. Cesar then gets Susan's backstory. She always wanted to make wine. It was like art to her to make it perfect. That is why she is so worried about David's wine being ruined. The date ends with her back at the workplace, as she has much work to do. He asks her for a second date. (She doesn't really give him an answer.)
With Cesar gone, Susan returns to work, when suddenly Tano is up in her face. He asks her, "So it's true, you only like men with money?" Susan asks him, why he is suddenly asking her this? Tano says he just didn't want to be under any illusions. A baffled Susan is like, no, really, why are you asking me this? What do you mean?
Liliana and Fernanda talk. Liliana tells Fer that she can't understand why Fer's father speaks to her like that. She just wants to make sure Fer knows what Luciana really is. Marta walks in on this chapter meeting of the IHLSM Club and defends Luciana. Marta address Fer, saying she asked Fer not to judge Luciana and to give her a chance. Liliana tells Marta not to tell Fer to do that. Fer says she is fine with Marta but she prefers not to be friends with Luciana.
Tano and Susan continue their out of the blue conversation with a confession from Tano that since Susan has come to work, he's been crushing on her! He'd like to have a relationship. Susan is offended that he thought she discriminated between classes. If Tano had just come to her and asked her out, she would have gone out with him! But the doctor asked first! If you don't ask, she doesn't hear you. I am basically the one saying "Que?" after this conversation.
Liliana tells Marta that she heard Fer, and her grandchildren do not have to socialize with the help. Marta is visibly offended, and Liliana chides her, saying surely you didn't think you were one of the family! David only has you here to help with the children. Marta replies that she thinks her work has dignity. She didn't like how Marta spoke to her in front of her friend though.
Fer busts into the workers house and demands to speak with Luciana. Perla kisses up to her and goes to get Luciana. Fer tells Luciana that she is just there to state that she doesn't want Luciana around her dad or brother, and calls her a few names. Luciana tells her to be careful. Fer tells her that Luciana doesn't scare her, and what's more, even if she's not fired, she'll never take the place of Lisa!

David may make the decisions but few listen.
Instead of thinking it romantic it creeps me out for someone that starts crushing to lay in wait and manipulate, cling or beg for reciprocity. Fernanda does it to Carlos, Carlos does it to Susan and Miguel does it to Luciana.
Two things: Our Viper Major is "Lillian" because she fancies herself a gringa. Also the dying plant was the rosebush Lisa was planting in the prologue.
Carlos needs a reality check. She's just not into you, dude, and it probably has nothing to do with your social class. She needs a man with life experience.
The Mean Girls don't know what a bore they are being mean. Not just to us, but to the men they think they want. Who will never want them.
UA: The Mean Girls will be UNSTOPPABLE for awhile.
Tofie: How long before Lillian plots to destroy Leon ?
Lilian was told not to mess with Marta. I don't think she got the message. What will it take to get David to throw her out of the house? But then, even if he does throw her out, it looks like Graciela will be arriving soon. She will be annoying too, but maybe the annoyance caused by Graciela will be of a type that I will find less intolerable than the annoyance I get from Lilian.
Lilian is kinda/sorta the patrona. No one slaps the patrona. But I think someone could get away with slapping Graciela.
Prediction: Graciela won't stop until she gets David in a compromising situation or.... she'll boink Juan first to get knocked up and then manipulate her way to the compromising situation. Honestly, in what universe does any man fall in love with a woman who does that kind of thing?
We know Luciana isn’t into Miguel that way, but I can see why Miguel would feel David is using his power and prestige to shut down Miguel’s thing with Luciana. David could’ve joined in with Miguel’s tour.
I thought Marta’s beloved (long distance) husband died just a few weeks ago. And she’s ogling a guy in uniform already? Poor Ramón.
David trying to forcefully stop Luciana from opening the drapes? Run Luciana run.
Liliana is one nasty piece of work. Just that constant scowl on her face makes me uncomfortable. However, I am not looking forward to GRacie showing up and dealing herself all over Dave while joining the mean chicks to Harris LUci. Yuck. Luci, just stick with your childhood sweetie, Miguel.
As for awkward scenes where the galan and the gallina [no typo] fall on top of each other, there's none better than Renata/Silvia Navarro falling on top of Jeronimo/Juan Soler in an early episode of Cuando Me Enamoro. It was attraction at first sight, but then they lost track of each other for a couple of episodes.
In Amor Bravio, which I'm delighting in rewatching, it is merely the touch of their hands as strangers (Silvia and Cristian de la Fuente) in a restaurant as he helps pick up her dropped flowers. Their looks at each other sends shivers up and down me.
Julie--David, OTOH, was certainly not treating Lilian as a patrona in their confrontation, but he's aware of her status as the mother of his beloved Lisa. I think he's too much of a gentleman to throw her out, but he went along with it when Lisa wanted Graciela gone. To me, she serves no purpose in the household except to disrupt. She could just as well do that in a cottage at the far end of the vineyard. Graciela should be banished there, too, when (not if) she returns.
Niece--Looking forward to the awkward gaze between Marta and Gutierrez, especially if it was in front of Lilian.
I'm in between risings of a whole wheat seed bread, so I'm off to watch the episode.
Glad Marta is finally perking up. I know it's for the sake of the show...but her character has chosen her employer's family over her own. I know she and her husband wanted her to stay in the US as part of their dream...but you still feel like when it comes to important issues...in the past she sacrificed her family, mainly Luci.

Enjoyed your “totally cute” and “awkward” quips.
I had to smile at “Liliana has made a workplace decision of her own - she's just going to make life hell for Marta and Luciana, starting with dropping a dish and making Marta clean it up”. Yes, as if Marta’s life wasn’t enough of a living hell already! My empathy for Marta is admittedly turning to annoyance. The remnants of her family are now together and she, her son and daughter, can surely find other employment, particularly now that Luciana has a degree.
I admit I fell asleep (yes due to "certain events" as Anita noted earlier this week. Missed a few high and low lights apparently including Luci and David falling down and Marta's ogling of Gutierrez. Even though she and Ramon spent so many years apart, I agree with you Niecie that it would be way too early for her to be drooling over someone else.
I am enjoying the show but not as much as I'd hoped. There needs to be some levity and lightness added because the unhappy characters are rather lackluster and mostly unappealing.
Thanks again dy! Your recaps are always informative and fun!
Diana
As to Marta choosing to stay in the US, it is pretty grating to us as well, but if she had gone back to Mexico, we'd have no story. The justification for her staying was she had a steady, well-paying job and she sent money home to help support Marcos and Luciana. It helped put Luciana through school. We may not like the situation, but it happens here in the thousands including reversed roles. One of a couple comes to the US to get either A JOB, or a better-paying job and they send money home. Sometimes they spend years apart. The Chinese immigrants are a case in point. This is anecdotal, but I heard that many in Mexico were putting money into buying their own land and building a house for when they return, but are either never reunited or are too old to work their land.
Leon -- as we have said before -- somehow doesn't seem like he belongs in this family. He doesn't look like his parents or sister and his personality isn't strong enough. It could be that Lillian doesn't even notice him.
OT...Hi, ANita..yes !!! Best decision I ever made was marrying my sweetheart.
It's fun to try to pull the nuggets out of this show and turn it into something fun. It's like David, trying to make it better!
Carlos/Susan came out of nowhere (or maybe a scene in a prior episode I didn't pay attention to). I did think Susan had more chemistry with him than with Cesar.
And I agree about Tano... no fair throwing a tantrum with Susan when he never made any overtures towards her in the first place.
Isn't Tano significantly younger than Susan? (In the early episodes, he was younger than Leon.) I think there are many reasons why she might not have looked at him as a potential match, that have nothing to do with him not being well to do. Just his whining alone would totally turn me off if I were her. It shows him to be the child he is.
I missed a lot of episodes. Is Bobby called Bratty for a reason? He's seemed really sweet the last few episodes I've seen. Fernanda, on the other hand, is a major brat.
I was surprised at Marta making eyes at Gutierrez too. Marcos just died! Obviously, she doesn't know this is the guy who deported her daughter and husband. I'm sure Luciana will inform her of the fact soon enough.
As for our lead couple, I'm glad to see David finally making some strides in taking back his vineyard. But I think Luciana is incredibly emotionally tone-deaf. She was so confused as to why David suddenly clammed up and ran off, when she heard him mention the plans for the wine on Fer's birthday and then Lisa's name. Hello! He obviously started thinking about his dead wife-- the one he's been deeply grieving for two years! Then, right after that, she barges into the man's living room and gets all up in his space, when he's obviously deep in thought from their last encounter. Then she follows that up with arguing with the man about some rose bushes. Damn! Come back at night when no one is around and start secretly pruning and watering the thing. Then everyone will think it's a miracle from Lisa from heaven.
Anita- I agree that those other meet-cutes where the galan and gallina fall on top of each other were much more romantic and effective than this one. Romance between David and Luci feels forced right now.
Susanlynn.....I too hope for...but wonder how it will be revealed that Graceless killed Lisa. I remember that David picked up Lisa's phone..but tossed it aside to rescue her from the water. While it was a deliberate action, the writers did not take that action anywhere....at least not yet. They also did not follow up with the messages that she left while she was on her way to the River...in search of him.
My guess is that somehow, Juan is going to goad Lisa into confessing out loud and perhaps one of the good guys will hear it and finally take action on it.
For those commenting on Marco's death and the lack of mourning.... I'm baffled how all of that played out. I know why it played out the way it did (to advance the story/return of Luci) but it didn't make any sense to me. Why would Luci have the right to and go ahead and cremate her dad and travel to the US without telling his wife and son that he died...and she's returning with his remains. I get that Sonja intercepted the phone call but someone else had a cell phone that she could have texted that she had an urgent issue in Mexico. There was no realism in how this transpired...and it all appeared to have transpired in a matter of a few days.
The writer's also seem a little disjointed on how they're handling Luci's and Marta's emotional distance from each other. Initially it was set up to be a major story line...but the writer's are not doing anything of substance with it. Luci has every reason to feel like her mom doesn't standup for herself and family when it matters. It is not realistic that Marta should have stayed with that family and taken that abuse all these years. She and Marco had the American dream for their kids....but Marta could have lived with another family/employer. I hate when the writers stretch the bounds of imagination just to advance a plot line.
Guess that's lala land for you.

Based on past novelas I think we can expect further sabotage on Juan's part after David has that meeting and refuses to sell. If that land is perfect for wine grapes, why would he sell?
And the writers should have remembered that the legal drinking age in the US is 21.
"Luciana is oh boy, here we go again"
Vivi I agree Luciana is tone deaf and not sure she even thinks of anyone or anything else other than what pops in her head at the moment. Not a sensitive girl for sure.
I don't understand why Marta walks into a room when she sees Lilian. Just turn and walk out.
Carlos is younger than Susan, quite a bit, and he looks like a kid. Why force this relationship on us? Actually, Susan should be concern by his attack, macho declaration of love and dodge the guy.
Is it true that Marta and her husband had not seen each other the whole time Luciana and (now I forgot his name--Marta's husband-- Luciana's dad) were in Mexico? I had the impression there had been visits from Marta and Leon. They were allowed to go down there and return since they had worker's visas or something to that effect. But yes, I think Marta stayed true to her husband the whole time and truly loved him and longed to be reunited. But I guess she must be flattered at Brian Gutierrez's flirtations. Maybe she never really looked at another man while waiting to be reunited with her hubby.
