Vino el Amor 11/10/16 Episode #12 Where a new Recapper Joins Our Team

Buenas dias, amigos!  This morning we welcome Sonia, our Thursday recapper for this series.  Please give her a warm Caray Caray Bienvenido and enjoy her humourous take on the shenanigans in Sonoma Valley:

Well, friends, this was quite an episode.

Let’s dig in!

Fernanda goes over the Luciana’s house and starts insulting by calling her the z-word. Perla and Carito stand in the background snickering enjoying the show.
Fernanda throws a “You will never replace my mother” at Luciana for good measure. Okkkaaayyyyyyy Fer, simmer down.  Also, you are being manipulated by your evil grandmother!! Go focus on something that isn’t your father’s supposed love life.

But Luciana is quick to put her in her place, “You think you’re an adult! First you should learn to recognize the truth from slander. If you keep this up, it won’t matter if you’re Don David’s daughter, it won’t make you any different from them” pointing to Caro and Perla.

Mama Marta tells Lillian to stop poisoning Fernanda against Luciana. Lillian says that she is only doing warning Fer the kind of woman that Luciana is before snarling “I wish that someone had told me about women like you” at Marta. Lillian has a final warning for Mama Marta before she can walk out. Stay away from Guiterrez. Lillian swears on her life to get rid of Marta.

Back to Luciana and Fernanda’s show down. Fer tells Luciana that she doesn’t know her place. Oh but she does. The one who  is way out of line is Fer. Luciana tells Fer that she is only having a temper tantrum. “You want to help you father? Perfect! Go look for him, help him” Luckily, before things get way out of hand Miguel comes in time to intervene. Miguel politely asks Fernanda to leave and turns on the witches of the vineyard. “What are you looking at?!”

Lillian storms into her bff Juan’s office fuming about Marta. Juan looks amused. What else is new? They talk about the pending sale offer on the vineyard. They need to convince David to sell within the week so that they can take a cut from the sale but first they have to crush David’s hope in the vineyard.

Perla says they were just leaving but they stay a little longer to make sure that Fernanda's message was clear. Just then, Marta comes into the house. I guess she feels the tension because she asks Luciana what's going on. Perla and Caro are there at Marta’s side to fill her in. Her favorite Fernanda came to warn Luciana to stay away from el Patron (not the tequila). Marta is confused, why would Fer do that? An exasperated Luciana says she doesn't understand how Marta can stand to be around this crazy family.

Tano and Fer are talking about the whole incident with Luciana. Tano defends Luciana telling Fer that Lu isn’t a bad girl. But he’s only saying that because he’s interested in her, right? No, wrong. Tano has his eye on some else. Poor Fer. She looks over at him with a faint smile on her face  and you can tell that she thinks it’s her. Okay but back to the topic of  Luciana. Fer says she’s just scared that with another woman in the picture her dad will pay even less attention to her brother and her. Okay. Fair enough.

Lillian and Juan continue discussing their plans with the money that they hope to gain from the sale. Lillian says she just hopes to make enough money that will allow her to live on living the life she accustomed to. She goes on to bash Graciela, ( who I know hasn’t really been present, but I’m beginning to understand her more and more through her mother.)

Tano tells Fer she has nothing to worry about. Things are going back to the way that they are. Tano’s dad Ramon interrupts their heart to heart. He tells Tano to be careful not to lose his job.

The following morning, Luciana is still fuming about her encounter with Fer. Her mom lets her know that Fernanda is just going through a hard time, she didn't mean it. Luciana responds,  “Right, I forgot. She’s your favorite. What hurts the most is that everyone knows it too”. She gets up saying that she going to show David and Lillian that she is worth a lot.

Breakfast at Casa Robles is getting a little intense. For one, Fer going to be eating breakfast, the most important meal of the day. Two, she announces to her dad that she put “esa zorra” in her place. Language! Fer, there is a child present. But Bobby doesn't care he’s reaches over for second. David demands to know that Fer did. “What’s zorra?” Bobby asks. So pure.  Lillian praises her granddaughter for her actions. David has had it with Lili’s BS. He wants a word.
Bobby asks his sister again for the definition of zorra. Duh, Bobby, it's Luciana. “You're lying. No one ever wants to tell me anything”. PROTECT BOBBY AT ALL COSTS.

Back in the wine cellar, Tano is happy for some reason that he had a chance with Susan (??) .Leon encourages him to go do something about it but Tano or Carlos or whatever his name is says its too late. Susan is dating Cesar. That’s why he’s also mad. Leon shoves him towards Susan. He wants to go on a date with her. Susan is caught off guard. Enter Cesar picking Susan up for breakfast. Looks like you got your answer, Tano/Carlos.

David lets Lillian know that he  doesn’t like her influence on Fer. Lillian claims she’s only protecting her family. She pulls the absent father card on David. He knows he was wrong to shut his family out. But know that his kids are older, they no longer need Lillian. Ohh. That’s shuts Lillian up fast. But then who is going to take care of them? They have Marta. David says that it’s best is Lillian leaves. Yikes. Lillian’s day is off to a rough start. Lillian tries to pull the Lisa card next, but David reminds her that she’s dead and things have changed. Time to pack your bags, Lils! Send us a postcard!

Perla is off with Juan. She wants to define the relationship. She doesn't want to work as a servant anymore. See, I have a big problem with this relationship, and it's not because they are both wretched people. I think it is so creepy that Juan got with the little girl that used to pour him water so many years before. I just can't get over that. Ditto with David and Luciana to be honest. This timeline just throws me off. Anyway, Juan says the moment isn't right.

Luciana tells Miguel that nothing is like she remembers it. She doesn't know how long she can last. Miguel reminds her that she has him. She’s sure that Fernandita already told her father about what happened and it's only a matter of time before David comes looking for her to yell at her. Cue David.

Lillian is back in her bffs office. Now what? David threw her out of the house. Pure amusement on Juan’s face. But Lillian isn’t leaving empty handed so he better hurry up with the sale. But Juan says it’s not his problem.

David is there to apologize on behalf of his daughter. Luciana thanks him, but he isn’t the one that owes him an apology. Miguel asks Luciana what David wanted. Luciana isn’t having it so she walks away.

David talk to his true homie, Cesar, about not wanting to sell his vineyard. He ‘s happy that the old David is back. Yay to this friendship.

Miguel finds Luciana in the wine cellar. He apologizes to Luciana, and Luciana says she is not interested in David, even if he was the last man on earth. MIguel tells Luciana he’s falling in love with her. He always had faith that she would return to the vineyard. But Luciana is hesitant to tell him that she feels the same way. She loves him and is grateful to him but she wants to take things slowly. Miguel insists that they have a history together but Luciana is scared that it might simply be a memory that they are trying to recreate. Miguel just wants the opportunity to show Luciana that they are meant to be.

David tells Cesar that he kicked out his mother in law because she provoked a disagreement between him and his daughter. Also, Luciana has inspired some change within him. Cesar beams. She’s making David feel things he didn’t think he would feel again. But it would cause problems with his children and he can’t disrespect Lisa’s memory that way. Cesar says he’s just making excuses because he’s afraid to fall in love. Cesar encourages his friend not the lie to himself and  tells him be careful with Juan. Susan doesn’t trust and he doesn't either.

Lillian proceeds to manipulate Fernanda. She lets Fer know that David kicked her out because of Luciana. Fernanda promises to talk to her father in her behalf.

Fernanda interrupts David and Cesar’s conversation demanding to know why her grandmother was kicked out. David says that it's time for Fernanda to apologize to Luciana. She can't believe that her father is defending a simple employee. Fine she says. She’ll apologize if Lilian can stay.

Juan asks Leon how the wine is going. Leon is surprised at the interest that Juan is showing. Juan says he’s always been interested but now that David is back, he can give it his all.

David drags Fernada to go apologize when they see Luciana and Miguel walking together. “I told you she was a slut”. Fernanda half heartedly apologizes and then leaves. And just like that David allows Lilian to stay at the house. So much could be avoided if HE WOULD JUST KICK HER OUT, but we wouldn’t have this wonderful novela.

Juan asks Lilian where her packed bags are. She doesn’t think it's funny, plus she has a plan. Her granddaughter is her best card and she's going to use it. Juan also has a plan. He’s going to contaminate the wine.

Back at the house, all the employees are eating and Luciana is doing laundry. Miguel offers to help her and they head to her bedroom. Carito is fuming. It’s forbidden to have guys in the girl’s dormitory so off goes Perla to inform Sonia.

Juan is at the factory, with a suspicious duffle bag. Inside is the Amber Acid that he is going to use to ruin David’s wine!

Perla and Carito walk into the room blasting music practically kicking Luciana out. Luciana ends up sleeping with her mom. They have a very sweet moment. Lu asks Marta how she knew Marcos was the man for her. Marta asks her daughter if this is  about Miguel or about the rumors going around the vineyard of Lu and David.

Fernanda keeps Graciela up to date with the Luciana situation but it is clear that Graciela doesn’t think of Luciana as a threat...yet. Graciela promises to visit as soon as her art tour is over. Uh oh.

The next morning, Lillian warns Marta that she won’t get rid of her so easily. At the factory, David is trying the wine that the workers are getting ready to send out. But, thanks to Juan, it's ruined. Luciana and Miguel enter the room and David turns on Miguel.

Bienvenido, Sonia! This is an excellent debut.

Of course I was hugely disappointed that David caved to his brat about Lillian. Her presence is a definite plot driver and her actions will escalate when Graciela returns, but any responsible father would not want anyone like her influencing his children.

The actress playing Fernanda is actually 20 but looks 12 to me. I suspect she's supposed to be in high school but she is about as mature as a pre-schooler. All the adults in this household share responsibility for that.

I completely agree with you about Juan and Perla, but this is not the first time I've seen situations like this. She is going to be in for a huge disappointment because he has bigger ambitions: He will have his eye on Graciela when she returns. Since he's educated (despite not graduating near the top of his class) he would have access to women of Graciela's position in the world. I'm predicting she will find a way to use him.

As to Marta and Gutierrez, I don't see anything happening. He may not have a conscience left if he is pursuing the woman whose husband and daughter he deported all those years ago. Or if there is a shred of conscience left in him he could be Lillian's downfall.

Miguel, Miguel, Miguel! I have to say I agree with everyone who thinks he would be the right man for Luciana, but I still have difficulty with the idea of romance between people who grow up together. In their case they didn't go through the teen years together, so it's a re-acquaintance situation, so it's not quite the same. I hope he survives the story when she ends up with David at the end.

Prediction (outside this series): Raul Coronado (Miguel) is a definite future galan. He's got the height, the smile, and the alpha-male features required. If he has the appropriate emotional range he could be the next Jorge Salinas. Predicting that JS will be cast as his father in a future series due to the resemblance.

Oh wow! A new recapper who is also new to Caray Caray! Welcome, Sonia! And thank you for gracing us with your amazing recapping skills. This was wonderful. I only saw the last scene, and now I feel like I watched the whole thing.

Sorry to see that David caved and let Lil stay.

Thanks, SOnia, for that excellent retelling.

Fashion note..Luci seems to have a uniform..jeans and a tight blouse ..sane blouse.. just in different colors. She looked pretty in both the aqua and the purple. However, I feared that a button might pop off and take out someone's eye. And you know, it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

Miguel is smitten. His childhood playmate turned into a Playmate. I could see this actor as a galan, but the guy I find most attractive is evil Juan. I would like to see him smile more. Then , he could be a galan, too.

the writers have assembled a whole possee of mean girls to hassle Luci. I hope that Susan will become a strong, smart ally.

Thank you Sonia. So kind of you to step in.

"Yikes. Lillian’s day is off to a rough start"

Bothers me David attacked Miguel though it is obvious the reason.

I don't really like Miguel or I should say I don't really like guys that beg.

Best scene for me was Luciana and Marta talking in bed and Luciana was trying open up honestly about her feelings, Marta realized there may be another man entering her daughters heart and pushed too hard and Luciana shut down. Luciana doesn't have one person she could bare her soul to since her father died.

Second best for me was the conversation between Carlos and Fernanda and you could see Fernanda was a scared little girl. I thought I heard she was not yet 18. Her mother died, her father only now becoming engaged again and her grandmother poisoning her against the woman that raised her and only stability she's had.

Sonia, welcome and thank you for both volunteering to recap and this great one to kick it off with! Much appreciated; I was out last night & couldn't watch.

I am solidly Team Miguel. He's nice, he's cute, personally I don't see him as begging (but I didn't see last night). He does have a jealous streak which might be problematic. But he's definitely the much more age-appropriate and nicer to Luciana option. I too see the charisma in the actor; haven't seen him before but he's a natural.

It will be interesting to watch the dynamic between the two alpha males unfold..the boss vs the employee. ..as they both pursue the fair maiden.

Tofie- No, Fernanda is not yet 18, since the special wine is set to be released on her 18th birthday. Have they said her age? I’m guessing 16 or 17. Which would make Carlos no older than 19, since in the first episodes when Fernanda was a 2 year old, little Carlos was no more than 4 years old. And that makes his pursuit of Susan even more ridiculous. Are the writers really trying to convince us that a grown, hecha y derecha, woman like Susan would be interested in this child? I don’t care how cute or muscular he is! Carlos and Fernanda are actually the most age appropriate couple in this story, even if she’s still a minor.

Thank you Sonia! "stay away from el Patron (not the tequila)." You are off to a great start!! I agree with your reasons for Juan and Perla being icky. I think it's weird between David and Luciana too, but there's still time to get me sold on that one.

I was so excited when David threw Lilian out of the house. Even sooner than I expected! Too bad it didn't take. Shame on David for letting his teenage daughter set conditions for her (very insincere) "apology" to Luciana.

Susanlynn: "I feared that a button might pop off and take out someone's eye." Yeah. David's shirts are a bit snug as well. I think both of these people would look almost as good in gunnysacks, so the tight clothes are overkill. But very photogenic!

Vivi: Carlos is gorgeous, but yeah, too young for Susan. (Except on this vineyard, where age seems to have no significance.) And his weirdly entitled approach would not be effective with any woman.

I was figuring Fernanda to be 15 or 16 at most, based on her appearance and behavior, and even then she's pretty immature. Which makes her perfect for Carlos, really.

According to Wikipedia, amber acid=succinic acid "generally recognized as safe" by the FDA to control the acidity of foods, beverages, and drugs. It is also a byproduct of fermentation that gives wine "a common taste that is a combination of saltiness, bitterness and acidity." You can see how dumping in an entire packet of it would totally ruin the wine. Yuck. Is David seriously going to blame his employees for this? He tasted the wine earlier and it was fine. He should suspect sabotage, not incompetence.

SONIA--WoooHooo! Blown away by your recap. And a debut at that. You certainly have the Caray Craftiness in your fingers and your head. Looking forward to Thursdays.

My hopes were dashed that Lilian's banishment lasted all of what, 5 min.? She didn't even have a chance to pack her bags and mope. Fernanda is a little snot and blackmails her father. Poor guy is trying to get back into the lives of his children, so I guess he figures this way is ok. Watch out Lilian, keep your claws in around David or he'll kick you out the next time.

Sorry folks, but I don't understand what Gutierrez sees in Marta. He does not know her. I do not think she is a raving beauty. In fact, if Lilian could tame her wild hair, she'd still be a stunning looker. It's only her heart that has turned rancid.

Thanks Vivi and Julie and I also thought I heard Fernanda would be attending University next year so that could make her 17.

Fernanda is a brat, a misguided brat and feel a little sorry for her. Just wonder when she may turn on Marta.

Julie--Thank you for filling us in with what the amber acid was. Of course we knew whatever Juan threw in there would ruin the wine, but I had no idea it was actually useful in other ways. That must have been how Arely (Spare Girl) ruined Agustin's wine in Cuando Me Enamoro--we didn't get to learn what she did.

Thanks, Sonia. This is great. So glad you joined the recapping team!

Team Miguel all the way. But he doesn’t know how to woo a woman. He looks at Luciana with those big puppy eyes trying to will her to love him back.

So David not only blames Miguel for the bad wine but claims it’s because Miguel spends too much time strolling around with Luciana. Argh! Luciana can have this grumpy old man. Soto is hot but David is not likable right now. And furthermore, I have no doubt David owes Miguel a higher wage because that young man kept things going for the past two years while David was depressed.

Tofie, I think you'll get your wish fairly soon, maybe when Graciela returns. In fact, I am starting to wonder whether Fernanda will try to help Graciela get David. It's "outsiders" Fernanda is looking to keep away from her father. Lillian would back that.

Sonia, a stellar debut! A warm welcome...

"Her favorite Fernanda came to warn Luciana to stay away from el Patron (not the tequila)" and "PROTECT BOBBY AT ALL COSTS" were my favorites.

"Time to pack your bags, Lils!" was spot on. But the eviction was short lived. And highly disappointing.

"Also, Luciana has inspired some change within him. Cesar beams". David's loyal friend noticed the shards of ice around David's heart are beginning to melt. I must admit I'm looking forward to seeing a far less stern father become open to the possibilities of love.

"Miguel is smitten. His childhood playmate turned into a Playmate" was great Susanlynn. I have to be honest though I don't see Miguel and Luci together romantically. I would love them to be close friends and confident but this does not seem possible as Miguel is in love (based on their childhood relationship). Luci is not.

tofie, I enjoyed your insight on Fer and especially "Luciana doesn't have one person she could bare her soul to since her father died". I also feel a bit for Fer. Yes, she is lashing out but I don't think she is a bad person at the core. How she fares will depend on ability to decide things for herself. Graciela will soon be back to use and manipulate her so as of now, she has my pity.

Great comments all.

Diana

Teen girls do not like their divorced daddies dating . Say that three times quickly.

I wonder how old SUsan is supposed to be. At birth, females are programmed to live seven years longer than males. I have a friend married to a guy who is five years younger..a long, happy marriage. However, there is a big chasm in education levels between Carlos and Susan. Young boys do crush on older women. I taught in a senior high school and saw that happen...without result. I also saw it happen between teen girls and male teachers.

There is more than education, age and job separating Carlos and Susan. She is living an independent life and Carlos a bunkhouse. They do however use the same hair stylist so maybe you build on that?

Susanlynn: The Mean Girls make me SICK!

The non-stop bullying of Luciana is so bad, I can't even watch half of the show most of the time.

Sonia, you did a spectacular job! Welcome, welcome to you. Your recapping was A-1 wonderful.

Arrrgghhhh...David should have stuck to his guns and through out Lillian. She is such a wicked witch. She could play Cinderella's wicked stepmother no problem.

As I watched this episode, at the end I wondered, hadn't they already tasted this wine from this particular batch? It seems to me that this is not the first tasting and someone should be smart enough to wonder about the batch having been sabotaged. Wines do not develop such acid substances overnight.

Yes, Cynthia, I thought they tasted that wine just a day or two before. Can wine can spoil that quickly? Maybe if it's exposed to air?

Well I don't know too much about wine production (although my daughter loves wine tasting and she lives in Sacramento and loves wine country) but it seems to me that kept in the containers they are supposed to be in, the wine just can't go bad overnight like that.

Did anyone else know our show would be pre-empted by the big soccer game?

Cynthia, I didn't realize the show wouldn't be on tonight either...

Dian

Urban good recap, thankj you. The episode
Was messy.
Fernanda need to take her little confused but
To bording school. That wont happen.

David should have security camaras in the
Place, ....where the wine is aging. But no that
May not happen either. I want david to start
To open his eyes and really start to see the
People around him, the mom inlaw from hell or middle earth, his slimmy bff juan whose partically a pedophile messin with that little airhead thats not quite grown up yet.

Miguel Is gonna get his heart broken and lu is gonna have to fight for her life when the murderer comes back to claim her murdered
Sisters husband, who she thanks is her own private property. Since she spilt blood for him (lisa's). Doncha wish you were a part of
This loving clan. Im with lucy, this family is crazy.
Marta........whatever.
Thanka Urban.

I wonder if those stainless steel fermenters might have locks to prevent sabotage?

Regardless, Juan is the manager of the facility and he bears responsibility for the product and fermentation equipment. So, if the wine suddenly goes bad, shouldn't David focus on Juan?

Gobluefan from ohio- maybe the writers didn't do their research about that fact. So they creat drama to give Lucy & David something to fight about. All that sexual tension gotta ride in there somehow. And then david has been out of the loop for two years, maybe juan is hoping he forgot that fact. Somebody is gonna get the ax Monday. If there's no program change.

Juan is the accountant, business end of the business. Miguel is the production manager, so it would fall on him.

Thank you Sonia, great job, well done.

My ccs call him Tano. I had no idea that Tano is a nickname of Carlos.

Cathyx: Miguel likely to lose his job since Juan was the one, who sabotaged the wine, etc.,
