Vino el Amor, #36, December 20, 2016: Vino el Crazy in Love

Repeated scenes:
  • Miguel and Luciana kiss and Grumpy David grumps and goes back to work.
  • Lilian and Sonia giggle over all the men competing for Lilian.
  • Susan and Grumpy David actually talk actual work but of course that turns into talking about Luciana and Susan's love lives.
  • Luciana confronts Gracie over the guest list omission, and Gracie admits that she wants David for herself. And there's nothing Luciana can do about it!
This episode (some scenes combined):
  • Grumpy David realizes that Susan is bringing her personal issues into her insights into David and Luciana's relationship. He softens his tone and tells her she can count on him and that he appreciates her work (maybe because she is one of the few employees who actually does any?)
  • Leon is all excited because Sonia is after him and that might make Carito be more into him. Tano and I FF>>
  • Gracie and Luciana continue their confrontation. Gracie tells Luci that she never had a chance with David. Luci tells Gracie she should respect the memory of David's wife. Gracie is sure that up in heaven, Lisa is team Gracie (LOL). Luciana doesn't think so and Gracie says that Luci has no idea of what went on with the family before she got to the vineyard. Gracie was with David before Lisa, and that's how Lisa and David met. Luciana doesn't believe any of this. I'll have to go back and look at week one recaps myself. Gracie doesn't care what Luciana thinks and besides, isn't she with Miguel. Luciana says David is not the old David that Gracie knew anymore. Gracie laughs at Luciana trying to tell her how David is. Luciana knows that David will never want Gracie if all Gracie has to offer is money. Gracie says she invested in the vineyard not just for David but also for the family. Bobby and Fer love her! Luciana says they are young and when they figure out Gracie just wanted their dad, they won't allow it. Gracie tells her not to be naive. Luciana says she isn't and sputters that David would never want someone as superficial and hypocritical as Gracie. With that, a flustered Luciana stomps off and Gracie flips her hair and smiles smugly.
  • Later, Gracie is reading her tablet on the patio when Juan comes to her. He shows her a picture of Joselo and Gracie and asks who Joselo is. Juan wants to know since there are a bunch of pictures of Joselo and Gracie on the web. Gracie teases him about being jealous, and then clarifies that Joselo is her agent and goes with her to each gallery. Juan says he bets it's more, because Gracie always uses men to get what she wants. Gracie says, nope it's all my talent and my work! Juan scoffs and Gracie gets serious, warning Juan to know more about about what he's speaking. Juan returns the warning, telling Gracie in the end, everyone will know things.
  • Susan is actually working in the vine cellar, so of course Luciana interrupts that to ask if she's seen David/discuss her love life! David went to see some distributors in Sacramento and probably won't be back until late. Luciana says that it's urgent she speak with him. Susan tells Luci that David asked how she was doing post-guest-list-omission. Luciana says bad, and worse now that she knows Gracie is after David. Susan. Is. Done. and says she understands that Luciana feels jealous, but she's with Miguel and in no position to complain to David about Gracie. Luciana just wants David to realize what a hypocrite Gracie is. Susan suggests that maybe actually working would help Luciana forget David.
  • Miguel finds Luciana working on the inventory Susan asked her to work on. So of course he interrupts to offer his help, which of course turns into a discussion of their love life. Luciana tells Miguel that she's really needs to get away to San Francisco for the weekend with him.  She's irked Grumpy David the "egotist" won't let his employees off for personal shenanigans and took away the pleasure of giving her presentation!
  • Ramon made some awesome coffee! Marta is psyched. They remember the good food smells of their youth in Mexico. Now they are here for their kids, and the kids have a good life here. Ramon frets about Tano but he's an adult now. Gutierrez stops by and interrupts the bonding. Marta and Gutierrez make goo goo eyes at each other.
  • Lilian asks Gracie why the heck she told Luciana she was after David? Gracie is like, eh, it's Luciana, what is she going to do? Lilian basically thinks it's dumb to reveal your secrets. Gracie thinks back to her biggest secret - when she murdered Lisa. Her demeanor changes to nervousness as Lilian continues to deliver her sermon. Lilian advises Gracie to tell David before Luciana does. Gracie looks very upset.
  • Ramon excuses himself from the room to let Marta and Gutierrez talk/goo goo eye.  Marta hadn't called, notes Gutierrez. Marta says she was busy with work. Gutierrez confirms the big date for Sunday (which he calls tomorrow, thank goodness) is still on. (I feel like two actual Sundays have passed since this date was made.) Marta throws in a twist...Leon and Luciana will be with her and they'll meet Gutierrez at the restaurant. All he can say is "see you Sunday" but his face says, "GULP."
  • Gutierrez is saved for now by a call from Lilian asking if they can meet tomorrow. He tells her he'll call her right back, and then tells Marta he has to go "work."
  • Mark and Juan hustle the human trafficking victims (some apparently didn't make it all the way) into a room where they'll be kept. We are not talking the Fixer Upper Joanne Gaines designed special house that David's employees live in. We are talking a small stuffy-looking room with no beds or visible windows. Our Sonia wins her $5 because Perla indeed is there to help Mark and Juan. Her role is apparently to pep talk the immigrants. She starts to do it, but can't go through with it. Juan covers for her and explains to the immigrants that she is shy.
  • David finds Luciana actually working.
Heck yes I documented this momentous occasion with a screencap!
  • Of course, Grumpy David interrupts the rare moment of work by Luciana, who actually tells him, "See, I'm working!" She tells him she doesn't want to argue and then completely sasses her boss by telling him he's defensive. He says she knows he gets upset when he sees her with Miguel and she reminds him that he wanted things this way. Then she throws in that she's not sure his children are the sole reason he has for not wanting to be with her. David asks what she means by that? Luciana tells him she thinks he doesn't want to be with her because he's interested in someone else - his sister-in-law! David says, "Again with that?" Luciana retorts, well she's into you!
  • Juan asks Perla what the problem is. They only need Perla to tell her human interest story and reassure the human trafficking victims and gain their trust. Perla tells Juan about her real memories of illegally immigrating to the US - how she and her grandmother were scared, in a stuffy windowless room, exhausted from the trek and almost dying of dehydration. Juan says, "But look at you now and all you achieved!" Perla wants to know where the immigrants will work and sleep (hint: not in your cushy employee quarters). Juan says those details are complicated and being worked out, but what the employees really need is to see Perla's pretty face and hear her words. Perla is still reluctant.
  • Grumpy David cannot believe Gracie is into him. Ew, she's his sister-in-law! Where did Luciana ever get that notion? Luci tells him to open his eyes, because Gracie is not like he thinks. David gets grumpier, saying first you ask me not to be jealous of Miguel, and now this? Luciana notes that as always, David won't listen to the only person telling him the truth and tells him, "Don't say I didn't warn you!" Luciana stomps out. I don't know if she will return to complete her work assignment.
  • Gracie finds Grumpy David in Susan's office. He grumpily asks if she saw Luciana. She says no, and why is he coming at her like this? David says that he argued with Luci over Gracie. Why is Luci saying that Gracie is into David? Is Gracie still the same Gracie she was back in the day? Gracie tells GD to take it easy. She lies and says she has no idea why Luciana said those things and she didn't tell her anything. A suspicious David says that if Gracie thought she had him believing she'd change, she's thought wrong. Gracie then offers another lie, that Luciana and she were discussing Gracie's great love of family, and perhaps Luciana was confused. He asks why they were discussing that and Gracie said it just came out how she has known David for a long time and he is important to her. Luciana just misunderstood as usual. David says that it seems strange and Gracie agrees. She doesn't know where Luciana got these ideas! Did David say something to her?
  • Mark is freaking out that Perla won't give her pep talk. Juan didn't realize this was all so dangerus. Mark reminds Juan that if they don't do the job right, they'll have bigger problems than Perla. They'll be killed by El Coyote. They can't fail. Juan says he doesn't fail. Mark threatens him. Juan swallows hard.
  • Gracie continues spinning her web: Does David want to reclaim her? David says there's nothing to reclaim. Gracie asks if he is interested in Luciana as a woman? He remains silent, and she says that silence means yes, correct? David says that Luciana didn't misinterpret things. He doesn't want to keep discussing the topic. Gracie changes tactics and slithers that she understands that David feels very alone since Lisa died. It's been two years, and she is sure that Lisa would understand if David went on with life. David says that is what he's trying to do, in at least some of the aspects of his life. Gracie says he is young and handsome, and every time she's with him, she realizes that he needs love and a relationship. David says she's right. Gracie says she hope in time he will find the right woman. David says that Luciana awoke that realization in him, got him out of his depression, and opened up his eyes and heart. But he knows their relationship is impossible and the children come first. Gracie takes that opening and agrees with "family first", but adds that in a few years when the kids are grown, then David should find someone. David says that will be difficult and excuses himself.
  • Juan pep talks Perla some more and frames it as she will be helping people like her realize their dream.
  • My notes literally read "Carito, Leon, Popcorn, TV, boys, Tano." (I think they were fighting over who got the TV.) In other words FF>>
  • Miguel enthusiastically welcomes Luciana home to employee quarters after her hard day at work. Luciana tells him she is "so tired." She needs a break. She needs a weekend in San Francisco with Miguel! What they have is real and she wants to live it to the fullest. Miguel is so happy after hearing all this. I feel bad for him.
  • Gracie finds Lilian waiting in her room. She fills her in on her talk with David. Lilian told her that Luciana would get to David first with her version. Gracie says she convinced David that Luciana misunderstood everything. Lilian is relieved but advises Gracie to stop being impulsive and control herself. She doesn't want Gracie to lose, so Gracie needs to do what Lilian says for now. And for now, she's to keep a low profile. Don't react without thinking. Gracie agrees but is unhappy that the only thing keeping Luciana and David apart are his children. Lilian agrees, but reminds her that Fer is TeamGracie and Bobby will be on that team soon. So control yourself! Gracie says it's hard, because when David is nearby, she just wants to kiss him. Lilian repeats her control yourself mantra and advises her to get back to painting as it's good for her.
  • Miguel and Luciana are nuzzling and planning the trip, but are interrupted by Marta. Miguel leaves and Luciana tells Marta their travel plans. Marta is fine with it, except oops, that Sunday meal with Bryan! Luciana says she really needs a getaway, especially from that boss! Marta asks what happened? She and David are over. Marta asks what about Miguel? Luciana explains that is why the getaway is just what she needs. Marta says that she gets it and Luciana can meet Bryan later. Marta presses for details on her discussion with David, and Luciana says that Gracie told her that she loves David. Marta wants all the scoop and they go to her room.
  • We get an awesome scene of Gracie painting, er starting a canvas and then smashing it, and repeating the process a few times, all to very dramatic music.
  • Marta is oooh how can the sister-in-law be in love? David will never go for that! Luciana worries about Bobby, with such a hypocrite for an aunt. Marta wisely says, however that all goes, remember the boss is not for you. Marta doesn't like to see Luciana suffering over someone she can't have. Luciana says she needs to focus on her real relationship, with Miguel. Marta asks why she won't give herself a chance to be happy with Miguel. Luciana responds that Miguel does make her happy, butttttt, David is not out of her heart. Marta gives her a sympathetic mom hug.
  • Bobby's "friends" bully him over the soccer star jerseys he has yet to produce. Poor kid.
  • Juan brings the immigrants some food. Perla musters up the nerve to tell her story (the happy "feel good" version).
  • As she tells it, a pretty girl looks to her and seems to really gain strength from hearing it. After she's done, the pretty girl does up to Perla and thanks her. Perla encourages her and seems genuinely touched. As they file out to go to work, Juan reminds the immigrants to keep this room and their trip a secret. Do their jobs and do them fast. If they get caught, no one will defend them. But listen to Perla, because she's an example of how it can go well! Perla looks to Juan for approval, and he tells her keep doing a good job, and you will have all you want.
  • Grumpy David is contemplating life on his porch. Cesar visits. As I noted, "Grumpy David whinefest." David just wants to get away from it all and think. David confides in Cesar about how his feelings for Luciana are making him suffer and burning him up inside. He needs to control them. He knows he's the one who pushed Luciana into Miguel's arms and he hates Miguel for having the freedom to love Luciana. Cesar reminds David of his obligations to his family. David hates himself for all the conflicting feelings he is having regards Luciana.
  • Marta offers Ramon some water, but he's not as friendly as he was earlier in the episode. He kind of tries to make a point about how Gutierrez is always "working" and doesn't seem to spend time with Marta but it sails over Marta's head.
  • Bobby corners Gracie in the hallway to nag her about those jerseys. She calls Jose who doesn't answer her. She reassures him while rolling her eyes.
  • David thanks Cesar for his friendship and support. He must stay away from Luciana, he says. Cesar says supportive things and offers suggestions like, maybe talk to Fer?" BUT. David's never met such a woman who challenged him so! He couldn't help but be honest! Cesar is Team David and thinks it could happen. He asks if David is in love. Ya Think? David says, "Yes, I am very much in love with Luciana." And the closing credits roll...

Thank You DY. how you find time to write all this, I will never know, detailed too. You missed nothing. Thanks again,

This episode was the juvenile episode right? Everyone had an ita or ito slathered onto their name. I was waiting for everyone to head back to 'La Grande Casalita'.

Oh Boy, we do have a little reality problem here. Even the sharpest eye on the patio can not catch Luci actually WORKING for more than about 5 or 6 seconds at a stretch. In a couple dozen or so episodes thus far she should have maybe 45 minutes to an hour on her time sheet. OK? Then last night she is grousing to Slobberlicious (Miggy) about the boss not letting them have time off to leave some conjugal cooties in San Fran and she says, “We are killing ourselves working here and...blah blah blah” WHAT?

But Luci scores points for getting Grrrrraciela angry enough to blurt out that she 'wants' David. When Grrrrraciela was telling about this indiscretion to Mama Ghoul, she was actually throwing things. Ha.

I liked Luci telling David “I am the ONLY one who actually tells you the TRUTH, and you never believe me.” He will look back on that through tears some day.

Then when David confronted Grrrrraciela about her true intentions,he asked if she was back up to her old tricks. Hmmm David smells a Rat? He'd better, 'cause it stinks all the way to here in FloriDuh.

OK, so we believe that these vineyard workers making minimum wage have $800 phones to throw around, and carry out into the vineyard while they work don't we? So then why, oh why does one of these Einsteins not have one recording in a pocket while an evil one is blabbing? That would put a stop to the “Oh, she is lying, I N E V E R said anything like that.”
Juan digging up dirt on Grrrrraciela and printing pictures was fun. We are beginning to see some rust on her armor. I hope he gets desperate enough to really turn up the heat. (see below)
The Perla,,NOJuan ..Markthedouche storyline is becoming more interesting. Perla choked and that planted the seeds which hopefully will germinate into major troubles with their 'international trading partner' who has been characterized as a cold blooded killer if you piss him off. Sue's Ex looked downright scared. Slimeballs, all of them.

this is so good dy. Loved every word

"Ew, she's his sister-in-law!"

"She's irked Grumpy David the "egotist" won't let his employees off for personal shenanigans and took away the pleasure of giving her presentation!" So, I'm torn who is the bigger fool being played by Luciana, Miguel or David, cause both are wrapped around her little finger to do with what she will.

Perla hitched a ride with a psycho killer

Tofie she has them both wrapped, and she knows sh'e got'em rapt.

Good work, dy77. You missed nothing.

I may be the lone voice in the wilderness about this but when it comes to novelas I always assume that people are doing their jobs unless proven otherwise. Their actual work is generally the least important element of a story. We all know that Juan is a slacker unless he's doing evil and Sonia stops what she's doing to daydream in vain, but nobody else can be proven to do nothing.

So, having gotten that one off my mind, I have to say that Luciana should have told David "She admitted it to me herself not an hour ago" which leaves no room for Graciela to comment that Luciana misinterpreted anything. But... since misunderstandings are what drive stories throughout (and not just in the beginning) there was no other way that conversation was going to go.

So, Brian is off the hook one more time. TVA got us used to that stuff.

As to El Coyote, he will probably play a big role in Mark and Juan's Karmageddon. He's a sadist so these two will really get what's coming to them. BTW, does anyone recognize that actor?

Dy77: Awesome recap.

Kirby: David is going to look stupid whenever everything is revealed in the end.

UA: Mark & Juan scheming to get Luciana deported & sold to El Coyote's violent sex slavery ring. That's where I see this going!

Gutierrez's political career will implode when his involvement in having Luciana & Marcos deported will get revealed. I mean Ramon knows that Gutierrez is BAD NEWS!

So if we suspect that Mother Graciela may have killed her husband, FerDead, and daughter Graciela did kill her sister, LisaDead, what makes us think that Lisadead would not have turned out to be a killer also if she had lived longer?

Is the murderess gene something genetic, or simply a skill passed down from parent to sibling?

Yeah, Steve, there are a lot of people setting themselves up for some life changing consequences later. I believe dead is considered a life changing event. I really liked that some of our bad ones are already beginning to feel a bit warmer as the flames of hell get closer. I do not want to wait until the last ten minutes of the TN to see all the anvils fall. What I really would enjoy would be as the dirty deeds are exposed, for the good ones to know about it as the evil ones wage all out war on each other. The good guys and girls can then sit on the sidelines much like us and watch the havoc and destruction unfold.

thanks, dy77. I just started the recap, but I had to stop to let you know how much I loved "Tano and I FF"

Splendid screencap of the hair flip.

Speaking of the screencaps, in the last one, does it look like little Bobby may be about to lose his blood?

BTW Sue, I was watching the news about your weather so I changed my picture. toodles. :-)

Great recap, Dy77. I enjoyed every moment. Thanks,
Helen

Kirby..Is that the back of a boat? That's just mean. Actually, it isn't too bad here...Just gray and overcast. I think that the temp is about 35. I can't get outside anyway because I am lost in a pile of gifts to wrap.

dy, insightful, wry and witty.

"We are not talking the Fixer Upper Joanne Gaines designed special house that David's employees live in" was my favorite line of too many to list. The screen shots were all perfection - however did you manage to actually capture Graciela rolling her eyes???

I can't believe the first comment I'm making is regarding Perla, whose character has bee3n an uninteresting, nuisance since this started. For the first time, my heart went out to her. The memories she must have been recalling were still fresh and obviously, way too raw. That sweet, young woman was looking to her for comfort, for some tiny shred of strength. No wonder she buckled under the strain. When Juan got nervous, I started feeling squeamish myself. What kind of hell are these people falling into?

And of course, Susan actually marrying the Mark we are seeing on the screen is absurd. He is a thug without any warmth or kindness whatsoever. They never would have been together "in real life".

Is Ramon getting cuter or is it just me? His sweet smile is winning me over.

Brian is backed into a corner. I wish they would just have the "meet and greet" between he and Luci. That dank, dark secret needs to come out of the basement to leave Marta free emotionally to be with Ramon. Let Lili have Brian...

So David is just going to continue to be consumed with jealousy until he loses her to Miguel? He better devise a plan and stop stewing.

Bobby's schoolmates are ratcheting up the bullying again. Ack.

This was great dy - thanks.

Diana

After all that bullying Bobby shouldn't give them a damned thing. That will not only not stop the bullying, it could escalate it.

UA: I noticed those evil kids bullying Bobby :(

Thank you everyone. Diana, I love making screenshots, to be honest! Sometimes I do go back and forth on the video to freeze it just right, then I use a snipping tool to save the image. I have noticed on this show that it is hard to get a screenshot with two people talking to each other - they use a back-and-forth editing style with each person. So that's why I don't have many of those. Kirby, Gracie does have a vampire look about her in that last one. She gives good face for screencapping for sure.

UA, I think Luciana might be one of the laziest millennials in the workplace I've ever seen on TV or in person. I guess I could give her the benefit of the doubt that she is working, but let's just say the vibe is not there for me, plus she actually kind of was defensive to David with it in this episode - "see I'm working!" I do think Miguel, Tano and Susan actually work so I don't think of them as lazy. But they sure have all the interruptions and lovelife discussions.

Poor Bobby. No one is actually helping him with this situation - Luciana's advice clearly tanked, and Gracie is not going to come through (hunch). UA's probably got the best advice for him.

Diana...I think Ramon is a good guy and verra interested in Marta. Go for the good guy, MArta!

Note to Bobby...There is an old saying "Do not count your chickens before they hatch."

You have to give CEsar credit for constantly listening to Moby Moody Dave's endkessss whining about his love life...Or rather the lack there of.

This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.

I'd advise Ramon to give Marta a wide berth and find a woman that wants him as her first choice.

Gracie won't do a thing, I'm sure. Just a hunch, but Bobby will see she's a fake.

Sue. Yeah but it was cold out there.

Re: vampire...I wouldn't let anything that looks like that get it's mouth anywhere near my NECK, no matter what the supposed intentions.

UA: Graciela won't do a God damn thing for Bobby as the bullying he's going through in school continues to escalate.

Kirby: Carito would have Miguel to herself if Juan & Mark have Luciana kidnapped & sent to El Coyote's human trafficking syndicate.

The storyline likely taking a darker, uglier turn here. I can feel it.

Yeah Steve, I see it too. This has been criticized as just booooooring, and I'd bet the writers are tired of hearing it. Aeh, a little murder and mayhem to spice things up for the holidays.

And Merry Christmas Buddy. I see your boy Perry finally got a job ! :-)

Dy77, interesting truths in this episode. Poor
David.poor luciana. Lets see what the next one brings.

Thanks dy77

Kirby: Yes, I watched the news on my home state's former Governor becoming US Secretary of Energy.

I'm thinking that Luciana's cockiness is likely resulting in the Bad Guys launching sneak-attack against her (El Coyote is in San Diego & lurking), the girl just doesn't know it yet. I also see Juan & Mark including Perla & Co., making sure that Luciana gets kicked out of the United States.

Yikes Steve, I just want the girl to do some work; hope that doesn't happen! I'm more worried about Perla for that.

Thank you DY for your excellent detailed recapping. I just now had the chance to read, I've been so busy all day with work, then I had to hurry up and recap for tonight's episode. I am feeling very sorry for Ramon. I really think he's a lot nicer guy than Brian and here Marta seems to be really smitten with Brian who is playing both sides of the fence. If it were me, I'd go with Ramon, he's very good looking and so kind hearted too.

Loved this part: "Grumpy David cannot believe Gracie is into him. Ew, she's his sister-in-law! Where did Luciana ever get that notion?" Now most guys know when a woman is coming on to him. But David can't figure it out? She's been doing this since Lisa was alive, trying to take him from Lisa. How could he not know that things haven't changed?
