Vino el Amor #41; December 28, 2016: Who’s been Sleeping in my Bed, Deceits, and Broken Hearts

David is still in his office with Cesar discussing Luciana. Cesar tells him that he will always feel that way about Luciana, but he needs to get on with his life and his work.

Gracie, Lilian, and Joselo are out together in San Francisco having a glass of wine. Gracie downplays the “love” comment and explains that he’s done so much for her career. Joselo says that is the reason he would love to stay there because of the art community in Sonoma and San Francisco is very strong and there are plenty of galleries.

Lilian sure doesn’t stay long, and soon excuses herself saying she’s a grandmother and has to get back to the grandchildren. Lilian says she is so proud of Grace and was very glad to meet Joselo. As Lilian leaves, she stops to whisper in Gracie’s ear, “You owe me one.” Joselo tells Gracie he still wants to meet the rest of the family.

Susan throws out the flowers and she and Tano first get into it, she begs him not to get angry and cause more problems. Then they end up kissing….

In the evening, Sonia and Leon are at that same bar on another date. Sonia seems to be getting drunk again and is acting very strange. She keeps coming on to Leon and sniffing his shirt and jacket, calling him “Leoncito”. Leon tries to have conversation with her about how she came to work at the vineyard and she explains. Then she brings up this role playing game called, “change of role” and asks Leon if he has ever heard of it. She says that it is helpful with relationships. She says, “Ask me to do something, tell me to bring you something.” Leon isn’t sure and neither is he cooperating. Frustrated, Sonia asks him again, “Tell me to bring you a cup of coffee”. As soon as he does that, she gets very strange and goes into her “Si señor, Mi señor” act. By this time Leon is getting weirded out by all this and tells her it’s time to go. Sonia is a little perplexed. As Leon has already hurried ahead of her, she cries out, “Si, mi señor!”

When Sonia returns to the house, she goes up to David’s room and his closet. She becomes impassioned by his clothes, sniffing them. (Reminded me of a cat in the catnip). Then turns to the bed, climbs on and finally rolls down the covers and gets in. Later, David walks in and catches Sonia asleep in the bed. David says, “What are you doing in MY BED, Sonia???” Sonia finally wakes up and sheepishly says that she was putting away clothes and she got tired mistakenly fell asleep in his bed and apologizes. As she leaves, David asks, “Sonia, are you drunk?” She denies it and leaves very quickly.

The poor human trafficking victims, brought illegally by the coyote are sitting on the floor and are given a pep talk by Perla and Carito. Later, Perla finds Carito crying in their bedroom about the whole situation. She can’t stand to see these poor people the way they are, hungry, tired, thirsty, and hungry.  But Perla says, that this is going to make them a lot of money.

Next morning Leon has a hangover during breakfast and Miguel walks in. Miguel is loud, but Leon tells him to quiet down because his head hurts. He explains that Sonia wanted him to dress like “El Patron” (David). Miguel finds this hilarious. Leon describes how Sonia wanted him to order her to do things and Miguel bursts out laughing.

In the big house, David is having breakfast and Gracie walks in and kisses David on the check. She starts talking about all the big plans she has for them regarding the wine promoting trip they are taking. But then David says, “Hey, we can’t stay up that late because of the kids.” Gracie says, “Whatever are you talking about?” David replies, “Well I’m bringing the kids with me!” Gracie just looks at him with disbelief, but then covers for herself saying, “it’s an excellent idea, David, I’m glad you told me so I can change the schedule and make sure everything is done earlier”. She leaves and Sonia comes in looking ashamed and apologizes for last night’s event. David say, “Sonia, I think you were drunk last night and this is not normal. Maybe you need a vacation.” Sonia protests saying, “No, no, no, I don’t need a vacation. I LIVE for my work here and that is all I really need.” David tells her that since this is not normal, it worries him. Sonia gets all excited and says, “Really, you are worried about me?” David answers, “Yes, I do worry about the well-being of all my workers.” This was not the answer Sonia wanted to hear.

Tano and Ramon arrive back at the employees’ home wearing suits. They have just been to court. Miguel catches them and asks how things went. Ramon and Tano explain that things are not very easy and if Tano does not pay a bail of $10,000, he will be put into jail. Tano does not want to ask David for the money. He will only ask the boss for money as a last resort. And he doesn’t want to tell Susan about this problem either.

Ramon goes to tell Susan about it though and tells her they have no choice but to pay the bail or Tano will end up in jail. Susan promises she will not let Tano face this alone. Of course he comes walking up and overhears and is upset because Ramon said anything. Susan does not want Tano to go jail, but Tano gets very angry and storms off.

David runs into Luciana in the field. He’s glad he ran into her because he wanted to tell her about his trip with Gracie and the kiddos to Mexico and Latin America. He wants her to be happy with Miguel and so he is distancing himself from her for their own good. Luciana just looks at him and David says, “Your silence on this tells me everything.” David also tells her that even though she is with Miguel, he’s there for her and if she needs anything to let him know. Luciana says the best thing for David is to be his children and her with Miguel. But then they have a longing embrace and nearly kiss.

Carito is telling Perla she just doesn’t like this thing with the immigrants and feels bad doing it. Perla keeps telling her that she needs to think of how much money she will make to help her family. Also Perla says to think hard on this, she doesn’t want to have to tell Juan about this.

Leon walks up and Carito tells him that he put his shirts into her laundry by mistake. And come to think of it, one of the shirts looked just like what the boss wears. Leon asks what the problem is, he happens to like the boss’s style in clothing.

Gracie and Lil are in Gracie’s bedroom and Grace is complaining about how David invited the children along on this trip. She says to Lil, “Can’t you talk to him? Can’t you convince him that the children will miss too much school?” It’s obvious Lil does not want to stay home and take care of her grandchildren, she has other things to do. Lil tells Grace to make the best of it, to give David good memories if the trip with the kids with good memories of being with the kids. But Gracie just scowls and grunts. Lil goes on to tell her that if Grace plays her cards right, she can achieve and give the family what they need and put them back in the place where they were before Lisa died. Gracie says, “I don’t know, you know I have Fernanda on my side, but Bobby, he just needs to go to boarding school in Spain, far away from Luciana. Lilian also tell Grace that everything is in her favor right now.

Bobby is playing games on his tablet and Luciana walks in to talk to him. She tells him she doesn’t want him to be mad at her. He says she will forget him because she is with Miguel, but Luciana says, “That will never happen.” She promised to always have time for him and hopes that when he returns he won’t be angry anymore. He leaves and says he has to get ready for the trip, but before he walks away, Luciana asks him about the school bullies and how it went. He says it went ok today, but they keep threatening him. She tells him that this too, shall pass.

Gracie is in Juan’s office and Juan is advising her on how to handle the situation, telling her that Lilian is right about how the trip should go with the kids and she should take advantage of this opportunity. He says that David comes as a package with the kids. He also says, “Now remember, you have to really promote this grand wine reserve well and do a good job, because we need our cut out of the profits. Besides, you owe me a lot more favors.” Gracie says she’s already done a lot of favors and he can’t talk to her the same way he does with his secretary. She gets up and leaves.

Susan calls Mark asks him to meet her at a restaurant, but stops by Juan’s office to ask a favor. (This is right after Grace leaves) Of course Juan is more than surprised and laughs at her. She wants him to talk to Mark about the situation regarding Tano and to drop the charges because the bail is too much money. Juan says, “Even though you have never treated me very well, I’m going to do it. But you know Mark, but when he gets an idea, it’s difficult to change his mind.” Of course Juan goes and does the opposite, calls Mark and tells him that he has Susan right where he wants her.

Luciana sees Miguel in the vineyard and she complains about Bobby being mad at her. Then Leon walks up and mentions the good looking gal he met at the restaurant, (Ericka). Now Luci wants to know who? Leon teases and says Luciana is jealous. Miguel says it was just a girl who was there acting like a wine critic and he has no idea who she was, not even her name.

Marta is helping Bobby pack and Marta says she is packing his swimwear. Bobby says he does not like to swim because his mother died swimming. He tells Marta about the bullies and shares that if his mother were alive, the bullies would not have bothered him because she would have told him what to do.

In David’s office, David is going over last minute details with Marta. Her phone rings, it’s Gutierrez and she decides not to answer. She tells David it’s not important. Lilian looks at Marta and says she’s not supposed to be receiving personal calls when she is working! David says to Lil, “While I am gone, please don’t be arguing.” Marta wishes him a good trip but returns with Ramon who needs to speak to David about Tano’s bail. David tells him that he will call Juan to handle it. David says he has every confidence for Juan to handle this correctly and to please keep him apprised of what happens.

Later in Susan’s office, Miguel and Luci are discussing about how to raise the money for Tano. But they fear Tano will never accept it. Miguel notices that Luci looks preoccupied and asks why. She shares that David has left for his trip. Miguel says, “And you didn’t go?” Lu says, “No, not anymore.” Susan comes running in crying about Tano’s situation. Miguel and Luciana try to assure her that they are trying to raise the funds from the rest of the employees’ giving to the cause.

Mark is sitting in the booth of a restaurant and Susan comes in. Mark thinks she’s coming back to him. She tells him that she doesn’t care about the house anymore and to please, just leave her alone. Mark says he will send her “baby boy Tano” to jail because he stole her heart from him.

Meanwhile in Susan’s office, Tano is looking for her, but Ramon finds him first. Ramon explains that he went to the boss for help and Tano is not too happy about it. Ramon says, “Well do you want to be thrown in jail?” Tano says, “No, I’m not going to be thrown in jail!” Ramon says the boss asked Juan to handle the situation, but Tano knows that Juan cannot be trusted and thinks that Juan will purposely botch the case. Juan walks in and says, “What’s going on?” Juan explains that he promised the boss he would handle it and also promised Susan, because she asked. But Tano is not believing any of this.

Luciana walks into their home in tears to talk to her mom. She explains to Marta how sad she is that David left with Gracie. Luciana just feels broken hearted about David. She says one side feels like it belongs to David and the other to Miguel. Now she doesn’t know what to do and she just cries.

[Sidebar commentary: I don’t buy all this drama about Tano being arrested and having to put up a $10,000 bail. It makes no sense since he did not physically assault Mark. In no state would that happen for mouthing off to an estranged husband. All divorce in California is “no fault” and no one gets put in jail for alienation of affection. Also any civil lawsuit of alienation of affection is impossible because it is outlawed. I do know of one case where a young man I worked with got into a physical altercation with his girlfriend’s estranged husband. The estranged husband reported it to the police and the sheriff came to our workplace to arrest the young man. Later, the charges were all dropped. What happened to the young man at work? He’s been promoted several times now, it didn’t seem to hurt him at all. But he did break up with the lady.]

Cynthia: Thank you very much for the recap.

1.) Not surprised that Carito is working with Perla, Mark & Juan in the illegal smuggling.

2.) Susan fell into the big trap just like that! Not surprised that Tano got arrested & likely about to get deported!

3.) Leon & Sonia in another date night ? Fast Forward!

4.) Lillian's ever-growing thirst for power is making her untouchable!

5.) Miguel & Luciana: BORING!

6.) Graciela & David going to Mexico with FerBrat & Bobby not surprising.

Thank you Cynthia! I don't get this case against Tano either. I figured I had missed a day and missed a lot, because as you said, it makes no sense as all he did was mouth off once to Mark.

Susan was a total maroon for going to Juan. I actually am looking forward to Tano dumping her for Fer whenever that inevitably happens.

I'm kind of on board with Gracie and the send Bobby to boarding school already thing. The bully storyline bores me.

Luciana had a lot of nerve to be jealous of new wine girl especially considering the previous scene she shared with David. I am looking forward to Miguel dumping her for Erica whenever that inevitably happens, and then Luci and David can go stomp off grumpily forever into the vineyard sunset.

Thank You Ms Hampton . My My how quick you are.

A few TNs back we had a big discussion about how smell is such a big deal in Spanish TNs. Here we go again. I immediately though of that when sonia was purring and sniffing last night. Sometimes those fruit chicks are fun. Leon should have gone with the flow and he could have been caught WITH sonia slleping it of in Bosses bed.

Gracie does have that 'Goat Eyes' blank stare down. Whenn she looked at David after he mentioned casually that the kids are coming along, I heard BWaaahhht.

The Tanito case is a frippin stretch. An even bigger stretch is the 'The sky is falling' reaction from everyone. As many criminal...er actors as are in Calif there MUST be a half million bail bonds. Aaaarrrrgh.

I am looking for the San Andreas fault to break them off and float them ALL back to Mexico one day while Bobby is safe at school.

A little addition: I think as DisGrace was grousing to NOJuan, didn't Susan stop dead in her tracks and listen in? She was on her way to ask for NOJuan's help with NOComb and just as she came into view, she froze. She was on the other side of a thick glass wall, but I thought she was listening or reading lips or somerthing. Wishful thinking?

Thanks you Cynthia. It had to be hard to stick with the goings on without a full out rant on the goings on. Great job.

With you and all of you concerning the Tano case. My attorney head nearly explodes during these TN's and try to stay out of it. Here we have a cocktail of TN, Mexican and a feeble interpretation of California law. I'll stick to one point and Kirby already mentioned. Bail Bondsman. Also don't understand why moptop hasn't been arrested yet but this isn't my biggest issue. I never want to watch a Tano episode again. I don't care for the character and think it's stoopid he is the object of affection of a 17 year old bosses daughter and a 30 some odd professional. Now Susan has decided she loves the featherweight and willing to capitulate and forfeit hundreds of thousands of dollars. Just wait till Fernanda finds out.

And, now we have the bitch and stomp Luciana doll leaking saline torn between two lovers. Oh, I thought the embrace between David and Luciana really awkward and weird with a hotness factor of NOPE.

Good work, Cynthia.

Bobby might actually be better off in a boarding school, but Spain is half a planet away from California. He would feel absolutely rejected, which is probably what Gracie and Lillian want. At the very least neither of them would care. However, David would put the kibosh on that and Luciana would lose her strongest advocate.

Sonia is nuttier than a fruitcake. She's dressing Leon up in clothes that remind her of David in some vainglorious effort to transfer what she thinks she feels for David to someone else and Leon happens to be the most convenient target. Of course, nobody else realizes this because Sonia hasn't admitted her crush on David to anyone. This will require repeat incidents for anyone to catch on since nobody else in this episode has witnessed how she behaves around David. His absence (if this trip happens) will do her good.

This whole business about Tano and a court case is total bullshit. All states grant no-fault divorces but that does not exclude normal grounds for divorce. According to this site there are grounds for divorce and Susan's situation more than meets the criteria. I don't remember how long ago she separated from Mark, but a judge should be laughing at this situation.

As for Tano's legal status, wasn't he born in California? He couldn't have been more than about five years old in the opening episode. If not, he's legal now. David took care of that long ago after Luciana and Marcos were deported.

More later.

Oh, yes, Susan was watching Juan and Gracie. Not sure she heard anything but she should definitely be more suspicious than before.

Thanks for the recap (and that lovely "No quiero..." screencap of Graciela), Cynthia.

Sonia full-on sniffing Leon, who looked nerdy as hell in that leather jacket, and then doubling down on the obsession by sniffing David's actual clothes, was far and away the highlight of this episode. Weirdly, almost entirely thanks to Veronica Jaspeado, this is fast becoming my favorite story on this fakakta show. (Sorry, Lilian, but you're only doing so much.)

Susan's ongoing freakout over (o hai) Mark was a distant second...which brings us to the whacked-out Tano situation. Since I'm getting everything via CC3 and the occasional bits of English-language dialogue, here's how I understand it: Mark initially sued Tano for threatening him over the phone over Susan, which I guess is supposed to be a trumped-up harassment charge (or, after some quick Googling, criminal threat in the state of California--but the show's never used either term AFAIK). In and of itself...okay, fine. Why in the world would Tano have to pay bail before his trial and not immediately be stuck in jail? Susan being the world's prettiest idiot and going to Mark to beg him to drop the charges for her baby boo (to borrow a phrase from Silvana sin lana, and the pun is heavily frigging implied) at least was just inevitable and inevitably dumb, but it still doesn't help the wackiness of the situation. Maybe I'm just used to US soap operas, which have gotten better at token nods to actual laws and such.

Kirby: Susan might end up collateral damage & dead because you know Body Count increase is coming.

Dy77: I've already conceded that Miguel & Erika are endgame regardless! It's not if they get together, it's WHEN!

I'm still of a mind that Team Relative Sanity--Susan and Cesar--has to get together at some point, but in terms of expendability she probably is fairly middle-of-the-pack. Then again, so is Cesar. (I'm not sure about Tano, due to the Fernanda connection. That said, if he lives and Susan dies it'll be irritating as hell.)

I suspect Carita and Perla are at extreme risk now, with Carita choking. I am led to believe that entry into this Coyote world is more or less a one way street. That car does not have reverse, and Carita, and by bringing her in, Perla made a huge mistake.

Thanks, Cynthia. Fine recap. Love the title.

I don’t know which scene was funnier. Sonia trying to get León to role-play as David, or León and Miguel rehashing the loco date.

ITA all said about Tano’s insane legal woes. Ramón and Tano wear suits well though.

Somebody (I’m looking at you, David) needs to explore why Bobby has no friends his own age. Such friends could be better help with this bullying.

Luciana is crying because she's torn between the two men, really? If she were with David and it was Miguel leaving town, I don't see her crying.

Cynthia, thank you for the fine recap.

"She becomes impassioned by his clothes, sniffing them. (Reminded me of a cat in the catnip)" was my favorite of many.

I appreciate your letting loose about the Tano situation. I totally agree and while I like the character, this plot is simply not reeling me in. Sadly, there are surprisingly few elements of this story that are intriguing. The Brian/Marta/Lili triangle? Nopis. Anything concerning Mark? Nay. Tano and Susan? Pass.

"Luciana asks him about the school bullies and how it went. He says it went ok today, but they keep threatening him. She tells him that this too, shall pass". Not good advice Luci. If you think this situation will resolve itself you are very wrong. I'm glad Bobby is getting away.

At least the kids will hopefully thwart any plans of Gracie to seduce David. I liked his parting caress with Luci and do understand that Luci is tormented with what to do. When Leo teased Miguel about the "new" girl, I wish she had laughed and joined in. She is just SO intense. I wish she would chill a bit. And if Miguel had seen her and David, that would have been real cause for jealousy. The mere mention of another woman should not be enough to send Luciana into a jealous snit.

Bill, thanks for explaining exactly what transpired between Mark and Tano. So a threat over the phone is the cause of all the commotion? Ridiculous.

I'm taking the stance that Sonia is simply traveling to the beat of a different drummer. She is one of the few entertaining characters here. The sniffing, the sleeping in David's bed was all over the top but it all made me smile.

Cynthia, thank you again.

Diana

OK. All our characters are flawed, right? But Slap me naked and call me Susan, I find Sonia's flaws to be far the most entertaining. And I know that just proves I'm just a messed up guy, but I'm OK with that too.

Kirby: El Coyote & his human trafficking syndicate likely to launch violent bloodbath (this TN is due for a bloodbath).

Collateral damage hit-list:
1.) Susan

2.) Carito

3.) Perla

4.) Leon

5.) Marta

In that order!

Steve I'm good with the bloodbath scenario. From what I have seen so far, only Cesar and Bobby should be allowed to contribute to mankind's gene pool.
I wonder about Susan on top or your list. Mark is supposedly in Loooove with hewr still, so will he not try to protect her?

Note to Soo--San, Ya lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas, and yours are starting to itch aren't they?

her

Thank you for your comments everyone.

Kirby, you mentioned the San Andreas Fault. Up in northern California, the fault line runs right along the coast line, just about at the shoreline. So Sonoma is on the east side of the fault, on the North American Plate. It's not moving anywhere. The USGS tells us the those of us on the west side of the fault are on the Pacific plate. Down here in the Los Angeles area where I live, I am on the west side of the plate, so technically, the portion of land that I live on is moving NORTH, not south.

Urban, you said that Bobby might be better off in boarding school. I didn't think so, but the more I think about it, he'd be better off away from Aunt DisGracie because his father has no, ugh, cajones. However, as you said, Spain is half a planet away. I am sure there are many nice prep schools in California where one can board and it doesn't have to be that far away. In fact there is a very nice school in Pebble Beach (near Carmel) called Stevenson School that costs a mere $54,000 for tuition and board per year.

Yes, this whole thing on Tano's legal situation is just silly. The TN writers should have researched California laws first before creating this scenario. Even if Susan was committing adultery, it doesn't matter. I have heard of cases where someone left their spouse for another. Then the new "honey" started harassing the the spouse who was being divorced. But by harassed, I am talking about tons of harassing phone calls, letters, showing up in places to cause problems. All this is remedied with a restraining order. Which brings up the point, why doesn't Susan have a restraining order against Mark? In all California divorces, there is a restraining order clause added about not molesting or annoying the other spouse. But since Susan was physically abused, it would seem to me that she would have at least called the police once on him and filed a restraining order. Spousal abuse is against the law, but the TN writers seem to have not known this fact. Maybe in Mexico spousal abuse laws do not exist.

In Mexico the Spouse abuse is covered under other livestock along with donkeys and chickens?

Cynthia, Thanks again. I will have to give up on my earthquake. I'll get with Steve and just settle for a bloodletting en masse.

Carjacking a family with infants in the car doesn't get you in as much trouble as old NOComb got into. If it's gonna be 10 grand I would have gotten my moneys worth and beat the holy bejesus out of him for the same price. But tjhat may be why I am not in a TN. :-)

Under California Code of Civil Procedures 527.6(3) it says: “Harassment” is unlawful violence, a credible threat of violence, or a knowing and willful course of conduct directed at a specific person that seriously alarms, annoys, or harasses the person, and that serves no legitimate purpose.  The course of conduct must be such as would cause a reasonable person to suffer substantial emotional distress, and must actually cause substantial emotional distress to the petitioner. - See more at: http://codes.findlaw.com/ca/code-of-civil-procedure/ccp-sect-527-6.html#sthash.ieevyGMv.dpuf

So if that is what they are using with Tano's situation, it's a real stretch. And this is over one time he mouthed off on the phone. The problem is, that in real life, Tano could just deny he said anything. He didn't call Mark, nor did he have any kind of interaction except on the phone when Mark was the one who called Susan. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE that he did anything. You would think that since they just came back from an arraignment (I assume) that there has to be enough evidence to bring this to court. Otherwise the judge says, "case dismissed."

Yeah Cynthia, but in another TN a guy mistakenly peed on a girls foot and she got preggers. :-)

This was great, Cynthia.

We got a wonderful recap for a sillier-than-stupid telenovela with great actors, but a class in Geophysics 101 and Law 201 to boot. Where else but CarayCaray! Too bad it doesn't come with certificates of completion (if we ever make it to the end).

I think that all the talk of body counts rising, violent bloodbaths and collateral damage used to describe this telenovela is not the way this is going. This is not Reina de Corazones, Yago or a Narco series. It's probably barely (that was Grace's girls) above a G rating--family fare for all.

We saw one "accidentally on purpose" death that was preventable, but Gracie saw an opportunity and just watched Lisa drown. That was it. The rest seems to be about dysfunctional family relationships, working in a vineyard and romantic tension. We've been fed a lot of the former and hardly any of the latter. Give me a break, couldn't the writers at least have had Luci get another kiss from David? Then she'd REALLY have something to cry about.

Ha ha Anita, as my husband (who has gotten into this telenovela and now watches with me, with snark to accompany it all) put it - this show is really just about a bunch of grapes and people talking about their lovelife!

I don't think there will be any bloodbathing at all except maybe for evil Mark the human trafficker, which is fine. If I wanted a narco, I'd watch one. But I actually really don't enjoy violence on TV in general. I still laugh at Camino's awesome anvils of making one villain drink alone and the other in jail while they watched a livestream of the heroine's violin concert. It was perfect for the tone of the show. Maybe Gracie will have to drink bad wine or something at the end of this one.

Yeah, I doubt we'll have any sort of major bloodbath or anything...but, being Televisa, somebody's got to die on general principle. (Hell, it's rare for a novela not to kill somebody period--Telemundo's Silvana sin lana appears to be the first novela they've aired in at least eight years where nobody's been whacked, but it's still got 6-7 episodes to go.) That said, Vino el Death Pool really does appear to be kind of crappy and shallow:

1. Mark. Obsessive, stalkerish, anger issues, and mixed up with a coyote...plus being the one stumbling block for Susan being with Cesar, ahem, anybody else? Even over the somewhat distant second place, he's probably the one character nobody would miss if he suddenly fell into a wine tank.
2. Graciela. She's got one death on her hands already, and she's the most direct threat to La Heroina Luciana. She could still end up in prison, but it's just as likely that she finally flips out in classic villana style and tries to take Luci out, getting whacked in the process.
3. Juan. Between the human trafficking and his embezzling money from the vineyard (not to mention being David's friend), ol' Punchable Face's likely the token villano bound for prison. The problem: does he take someone out first, namely...
4. Perla and/or Carito. One bad girl, one basically good girl, and both wounded in a way. We've all speculated that one or the other probably has to go as karma for the other since they're now tied up in Juan's trafficking scheme, and I doubt that's going to change; if Carito goes, Perla reforms, and if Perla goes Carito moves fully over to the side of good (and possibly ends up with Leon, if Sonia for whatever reason is no longer an option).
5. Sonia, Lilian, and/or Joselo: if any of them die, I fully expect it to be at Graciela's hand because they "got in the way."

I agree, DY77, I very much doubt there will be any violence in this show, except perhaps for Mark at the end. I am confident that he will reap what he sows and meet his maker in the end. Someone may shoot him, but I'll bet it will be the police, maybe even Gutierrez will do the job. There isn't even much lovemaking in this TN either, with the exception of Lil & Gutierrez, but I don't even want to watch that, because I find it nauseating to watch her with him.

Anita, I think Gracie killed Lisa on purpose, definitely. She caused Lisa to fall unconscious by blunt force trauma and she conveniently drowned. But the part that really gets to me is the police weren't called and no calls to 911. I guess the TN writers don't know that here in the USA, we have something called 911 that automatically dispatches emergency services, fire, police, and paramedics to the scene of an accident. If the victim is dead at the scene, the body is sent to the coroner for further investigation. Seems to me that David would want to know why Lisa drowned. Did she have a medical event that precipitated the drowning? Did she have a seizure? Medical investigators look for a real cause of death and would definitely notice the blunt force trauma to the head.

In this story, the family called the mortuary to come pick up Lisa's body. I don't recall that any police were involved. There must be a death report with an official sign off. Another thing is that when a person dies, you aren't supposed to move the body. In this case, after David removed Lisa's body from the river, he should have just laid her down and called emergency services. California law states that ALL unattended deaths must have an autopsy. http://codes.findlaw.com/ca/government-code/gov-sect-27491.html

thank you, Cynthia, for another excellent retelling of a story overflowing with the crazy.

I am making a belated Christmas dinner for family today, so I should be starting to prepare it, but I cannot resist a few comments.

Firstly, the telenovelas love to show people sniffing the clothes of their obsessions. The power of smell as a sense memory is supposed to be very strong. . Pheremones figure strongly in attraction. We are attracted to the way people smell. Hence, Sonia in rapture as she snuggled with Dave's shirts in his closet. my favorite scene was Papa BEar discovering GOldilOcks asleep in his big bed which felt just right to her.

Soosan was a fool to ever get involved with an abuser like Markme , but I have seen this happen several times with people in real life....Nice women marrying not so nice guys who manage to mask themselves for a long time before showing their true colors. Does Mexico have PFA laws?

I kind of understand Markme going after Tano. Abusers go after any male who comes between them and the person they "love" (they do not know what love is) .

Okay..Gotta go and cook.

Good call, Cynthia. This tn started off with the wrong premise and wrong conclusion over the unattended death. (Lucky for Gracie.) Anything else -- autopsy, emergency responders, would have ended the tn before it even started. You can't hide a bash on the head, even from bumping into a rock in a swift moving stream. It would immediately have raised suspicion. They could have taken the story in a whole different direction, but still gotten us back on track with David and Luciana.

IIRC, Lisa lost her cell phone before she fell in, but the body was found downstream. The phone was never looked for nor located--another oopsie for the story. I'll just have to review the "murder" scene for my own satisfaction. I'm pretty sure Grace did not go to the river to kill Lisa (premeditated murder). They got into a verbal argument and Gracie fought unfairly by picking up the rock and hitting her on the head with it. From the look on her face, Grace was startled and horrified by what she had done. I think after that, Lisa staggered into the water and started to drown and was bobbing up and down while Grace watched---but I might be wrong. Did Grace hold her down under the water? Gotta re-watch it. Would that be considered manslaughter?

Anita: No, Gracie did not hold Lisa's head under the water. She hit her with the rock and Lisa fell backward into the river, then floating down. Grace just left her there and did nothing to prevent her death. Under law, this is called failure of Duty to Act. I am pretty sure it would not have been a pre-meditated murder, but one of assault and negligence leading to death. But then again, I'm not a lawyer.

Cynthia there is this sort of offbeat show on TV hosted by that missing children guy John Walsh called the Justice Network.

It pretty much is a course in how forensics is done. BELIEVE me, any suspicious death with blunt force trauma to the skull is not a simple drowning. In real life Gracie would be Soooo in fricking jail before the funeral even. People a helluva lot more clever than our girl Grace do not get away with crimes more thought out than this one.

NEXT !

I think Gracie did kill Lisa on purpose. She did nothing to prevent her drowning and didn't call for help. The only thing that makes her nervous now is the possibility that this will come to light. It was the one thing that Juan had on her, but now he has the fact that Joselo is more than just an agent to her. Makes me wonder whether Gracie will try to off him first.

Unless Graciela is foolish enough to admit she cracked Lisa's skull no one would ever know. No evidence, no foul play suspected and the body wasn't examined. All Juan has is a suspicion she was somehow involved because she acted nervous.

Tofie Bodies are exhumed every day. A cracked skull and not enough water in her lungs would make a pretty good case, wouldn't it?

I mean, I don't want to turn this into True Crime magazine, but I would like to see DisGracie discovered as the murderess we know she is. I just don't even like her. I don't even like her boobs.

All we need is NCIS to visit San Diego, CA & exhume Lisa's body to figure out what happened.

Was Lisa buried or cremated?

Neither, Gracie served her in sandwiches.

Good point Urban. I did not watch that episode. Of course, now that you mention it she HAD to have been cremated.

I'm sure Lisa was buried. We only saw Marcos being cremated when Luciana brought his ashes back from Mexico.

Kirby: I think David mentioned going to the cemetery to kids in a previous episode way back.

Thank you Cynthia Hampton, the recap is good. That $10,000 does seem a bit much, just for yelling at somebody on the phone, and why hasn't Susie checked into that? She supposed to be a smart girl. Does anybody even know what he is being accused of? Aon't nobody using their brain with this mess. And they're hysterical with fear. Mark and his slimy sidekick juan These two bozos are going to cause a lot of Heartache before they get theirs, and Perla and carita will probably be fatalities. Or not. David and Lucy.....& miguel, at this point I'm like, whatever. They're taking too long. maybe a time span will help. whatever.

Thank you Miss Hampton

Nina: I'm expecting Mark & Juan's illegal smuggling to continue all the way to the Gran Final!
