Vino el Amor, 1/12/17, Episode 52

This episode is brought to you by our Sonia; disfrutala!

The episode starts with Grace pouring her heart out to David. I gotta say I admire her for this bold move, but also it was about time and surely David isn’t completely blind. Or is he? He reassures her that his feelings have not changed. He thanks her for being honest with him. David doesn’t want to hurt her so it’s best if they just carry on. Grace wants him to admit that there is someone else in his life. David basically tells G the same thing he told Luci: his kids are his number one priority and therefore he cannot be in a relationship. G calls bull because “Fer and Bobby love her”, they wouldn’t be opposed to their union. Grace wants THEIR family to be united. D thinks that it's for the best. G says that he needs to give himself the opportunity to be happy and storms off.

Tano is hurting the wall because he saw Susan kissing her ex. Ramon doesn’t think that that sounds like Susan. Tano is angry because he thinks that Susan is playing with him. (Does anyone know the age difference in this relationship is?)

There is a mini montage of Luci and Leon in a market in Mexico. L&L are looking for souvenirs to bring back to the vineyard. Lu finds a buckle that takes her back to the buckle that she gave David.
Miguel finds Susan sobbing in her office. He tells her that there is always a solution. He thinks that it is because of Tano, and she simply nods but she doesn’t want to talk about it. He gets it because he misses Luciana. (He calls Susan “corazon” which is so cute). David walks in wanting to talk to Miguel. According to D, M needs to know his place. It wasn’t his call to summon the police.
The evil trio analyze Grace’s decision to come clean to David. Lil isn’t happy and Juan, like me, thinks it was a bold move. Grace only did it because Luciana wasn’t there. But Grace thinks it was the right move. She informs her mother and Juan about the Cesar situation that is going on and Juan says, “Finally! I’ll be free of him!” This is Juan’s chance to get close to David again. Lil thinks that David is going to keep his distance from G. “It’s obvious you don’t know men.” Lil tells G. G is quick to respond, “And you do?” J and G laugh at Lil’s expense and she tells them to shut up.

Luci wants to live in Mexico City if they don’t grant her the work visa. Obviously, this isn’t going to happen so I’m not going to spend time on this.

Sonia is bonding with her future mother-in-law. She asks her if she has heard from Leon.
Tano visits Susan’s office. He wants to know if she loves him. He doesn’t understand why she left him. Susan tells him that she did it for him. Tano begs her not to do this, but she’s scared that Mark is going to do something to him.

Marta brings Brian tamales. He doesn’t deserve them. She thanks him for everything that he has done for Luciana. She tells him that if Luciana can’t get the visa, she is going back to Mexico. Brian tells her that he is falling in love with her. She’s falling for him too. He asks her for a chance to make her the happiest woman on earth. They get a call that Luciana has a court date for her visa. M tells B that she hopes that L gets the visa because she couldn’t bear to see her family separated  again. B tells her to let the past go and he positive. She’s asks him to promise her to find the officer that deported her family once he becomes sheriff. She wants him to know the pain that he caused her. AWKWARD.
Lu and Leo make plans for their possible life in Mexico. Leo stops by a pharmacy to buy something for Sonia, never saying what it is.

Juan is on the phone with the owner of the vineyard whose name I forgot. He’s worried about the workers that Juan sent over because they don’t have any papers. Erika wants to know where they came from. She tells her father that they are in very poor health and they are exhausted. She wants to do something for them. If they are working for them, it is their responsibility to make sure they are okay. I love her. She convinces her father to help the workers get their papers in order. Her father wants her to settle down and meet someone. She tells him that she already has but he has a girlfriend.
David visits the police department. The police thinks that whoever was behind it isn’t working alone.
Tano gets a visit from Fer. He tells her that he and Susan broke up but he doesn't want to talk about it so they eat candy instead. She tells him that she broke up with Peter. She invites to go get some ice cream.

David takes the time to visit Brian’s office to ask him about Luciana’s visa.

Susan is crying in the town plaza, Cesar sees her and tries to calm her down. She tells him that Mark just complicated everything. Cesar tells her that everything happens for a reason. He proposes that they go eat so that they can chat some more.

Fer tells her aunt about her outing with Tano. Grace is happy for her, nothing hurts more than unrequited love. Grace tells her that she is in love with someone. Fer asks who it is. David comes in asking if they have seen Marta because he is trying to get a hold of Luciana to tell her about the visa thing. Grace and Fer share a look. Fer is only happy for Marta but tells her dad to stop worrying about Luciana. They only reassuring thing is that David prioritizes his children.

Juan tells Mark that the police is on to them. The migrants are coughing and Perla and Carito insist they take them to a hospital or get a doctor. Juan refuses to do so.

David finally finds Marta and shares his news. Marta let’s him know that they can’t get a hold of Luciana or Leon. Miguel tells David that he doesn’t need to be there because Luciana has him, which is absolutely ridiculous because Lu is missing and we need everyone we can get,

Thank you so much, Sonia!

Well. So David knows his feelings won't change for DisGracie. And he didn't catch on to all the stroking she was doing and turning her back to his front while he "massaged" her aching muscles and she purred because she SAID when she came back that she didn't have the hots for him and wouldn't chase him. Jeezopete.

TOO MUCH Soosun. FF>> got a workout. Cesar is a healing professional. He just can't help it. Don't let Soosun bring you down, Cesar!

Marta kissing Brian is disgusting knowing he's servicing Lillian. The other day I said Marta knew it because after one of B Y L's "sessions" Lillian threw some heavy hints about what she was doing. Whatever. Maybe Marta doesn't know but we do and it's gross!

So Adolfo is sourcing his temps from Juan's "illegals are us"! The police on the trail, the runaway girl and the poor workers being sick could produce a perfect storm for the operation to get busted. BUT, knowing the pacing on this thing, they'll drag it out for weeks.

I like the way Erika was up front about having met Miguel (though she didn't say the name to her dad) and that he had a girlfriend. Also had to giggle at her calling Luciana obnoxious. Yah, she surely was in that first meeting. Erika, you go girl, snag Miguel so David and Luciana can get it on! Yah, yah, the kids are important. . .we could at least get some clandestine clinging and kissing!

Thanks again, Sonia!

Just right Sonia a big thanks

"Tano is hurting the wall because he saw Susan kissing her ex"

Susan needs a competent adult to help put things in perspective and glad Cesar stumbled upon her. She's a trainwreck and hope he doesn't catch the feels for her.

It's not entirely all on Tano, young and inexperienced, just embarking on the maturation process, yet he's the most stable in the relationship. I do wonder what he's done with the money he's made.

Luciana is obnoxious except with Miguel

Guess absence does make the heart fonder. Only time Luciana seems to like David is when they are hundreds of miles apart.

If I knew there were people trying to help me and schedule an important meeting the next day or so I would be checking in with them every few hours.

I don't want Erika to like Miguel she can do way better.

Outstanding Sonia.

"Sonia is bonding with her future mother-in-law" and "Marta brings Brian tamales. He doesn’t deserve them" were among my favorites.

Lila, I enjoyed and agree with all of your comments, particularly "The police on the trail, the runaway girl and the poor workers being sick could produce a perfect storm for the operation to get busted". Long after the episode ended, I found myself thinking about those poor workers, trapped in the equivalent of a windowless cell, hungry, hacking and in poor health. As much as Juan is to blame, I despise Mark even more. That man does not have an ounce of appeal or any redeeming qualities that I can see. I will thoroughly enjoy his being incarcerated.

Susan is still wailing and hasn't even gone home yet! I can't imagine her setting a foot in her house now that Mark is residing there. She can't even look at him (not that I blame her)...

So will Luciana arrive in time to get her Visa or is this another delay to have her and Leon roaming the streets and out of the picture...

Too bad Fer is so susceptible to Gracie's encouragement to loathe Luci. I'd like to think a fire has finally been lit under David, but he will have to show me.

Brian has no right to romance Marta. I was expecting Lili to burst through the door at any moment. I am sure he could attract other women, he should leave Marta alone. Is he really so ignorant he thinks he can hide deporting Marta's husband and daughter forever? Doesn't be realize the minute Luci sees him, the jig is up? This still has me scratching my head.

I like Erika too - she has spunk.

The best part for me was Sonia and Marta chatting. Of course Sonia could stand there and say or do just about anything and I'd be smiling.

I know Veronica is a fan of so many here. I know many of her past roles have been mentioned but her favorite role was in Un gancho al corazón. 2 of the couples that stole the show away from Rulli and Garcia were Raul Azziza and Laisha Wilkins and Veronica and Alex Sirvent. The TN was far too long but worth it due to the sizzling chemistry and on screen antics of these 4 actors. If you ever have the chance, I urge you to watch it, if only for them...

Sonia, thank you!

Diana

I like Adolf's daughter Eureka. She is nice. Nice Butt too.

Gracias, Sonia

As for Tano's age, I think he's 20 or 21. This is based on how he looked in the opening episode when we saw that he was easily younger than Leon, who is younger than both Luciana and Miguel. "Tano" looked about 5 or 6 and he was a cute kid. Luciana was away for 14 years so if we add action time in the series we can add another four to six months since her return. Tano is barely of US drinking age.

Susan has to be in her early 30s. She seems to have an advanced degree and work history. However, she needs major help for this situation.

FerBrat was a brat about Luciana before DisGracie meddled in it, but her actions have made this worse. And someone needs to point out to FerBrat that if DisGracie objects to Luciana on the grounds that she is not of their class, why is she encouraging FerBrat to pursue Tano? What this demonstrates to us is the obvious: DisGracie only cares about FerBrat and Bobby as a means to an end. Otherwise they mean nothing to her.

Thank you, Sonia.

The story jeeps going round and round.

I think that Gut and Marta have chemistry, but anyone who is declaring his love for one person while blinking another is despicable. Basta.

Is Adolfo the boss that the young immigrant girl ran away from?

Sonia and Marta definitely seem to be bonding. I think that Sonia may turn on Lilian and that she and Leon may end up together.

Dr.Cesar (Dr. Phil???) is everyone's life coach. Now, he has run into Soosan..another clueless person whom he will attempt to advise.

I really do not like pushy, eager Erika , but I do think that is who Miguel will ultimately end up with.

Thank you Sonia. Wasn't able to catch it last night but I guarantee I would've cheered and applauded when Erika called Luciana obnoxious. Team Erika all the way. I like her a lot.

Susan is a trainwreck, Tano is in over his head and should run to age-appropriate Fer, Mark is awful, Juan is awful and that whole situation with the migrants is going to implode on all of them plus Perla and Carito.

Thank you so much Sonia! Lately it’s been hard to make the recaps sound interesting because the plot seems to be moving along at a snail’s pace, but you certainly did a wonderful job of making what seems to be dragging on and on sound very interesting! So thank you again for your hard work.

Well of course Luciana will be coming back to the USA, if she has to stay in Mexico, then there is no plot, since she seems to be the center of David’s affections and Miguel’s affections. True, Miguel could move to Mexico, but the story ends at the vineyard with only the subplots, which aren’t all that interesting and DisGracie getting her way, end of story and FIN.

On Marta bringing Brian tamales, it sounds like something I would do, because I make tamales too. I always bring homemade food to people to thank them, so in that way, I really identify with Marta. She is a genuinely nice person as well and in stark contrast to Lilian who is so darn mean and nasty. Why does Brian even give her the time of day? He has to be just pimping himself out for her supposed political support and it’s just disgusting. I can’t wait till the inevitable happens….that Luciana finally meets Brian and realizes that he was there deporting her and he dad. I am sure that Luciana will never forget his face. Marta will never forgive him for that or his dishonesty.

Arrrggghhh….and all those poor victims of Mark and Juan all getting sick with no medical help. I don’t know how anyone can be so cruel to their fellow human beings.

UA: Muchas Gracias!

Cynthia: It's pretty obvious that Luciana & Leon are coming back to the United States, so that FerBrat, Perla, Carito, Graciela, Juan & Lillian can blast her some more.

I'm still banking on Erika taking Miguel away from the drama sooner or later!

Dy77: I like Erika a lot. She's got SWAGGER!

Susanlynn: Cesar IS Dr. Phil 2.0 ROFLOL.

Does anyone think Cesar & Susan became a couple in the end ? It's pretty obvious that Tano & FerBrat are endgame at this point.

Thanks, Sonia.

I'm going to give this fakakta show points for advancing the illegal-immigrant story in a reasonable, if still somewhat bonkers, way with Adolfo hiring some of Juan and Mark's "workforce." It at least gave us Erika being smart and sane about caring for them, which is so the show's heart-on-its-sleeve thing.

That said, I'm taking the points away for two reasons:
1. Why the hell weren't Luciana or Leon picking up when anybody called them? Did I miss something, or was that just more plot-mandated stupidity?
2. Susan's umpteenth crying jag. At this point Mar Contreras is out-Victoria Ruffo-ing Cynthia Klitbo for the most part (mostly because Marta is still happily head-over-sensible-flats for her helmet-haired hunk right now; when she finally meets "the man who deported her daughter," oh God), and as much as she's rocking it it's just exhausting.

Steve. Yes, I kind of have the feeling that Cesar and Soosan will end up together. She needs a mature guy because so far, her choices in men have not been working out do well for her. And Cesar obviously needs to be needed.

Bill.." head over sensible flats." ..That gave me a chuckle. The guy playing GUt has a great head of black hair...And those shoulders and arms...He could play SUperman. Marta does seem smitten with him, but when she finds out that he is the one who deported her hubby and daughter, she might not be able to forgive him. Then, there will be good old reliable Ramon with the average head of hair and body waiting patiently for her. Perhaps , if SOosan ends up with CEsar and Marta ends up with Ramon it will be a PSA to women to give good hombres a chance.

Here is one possible reason why Luciana is not available on her cellphone:

Perhaps El Coyote has abducted Lucia in Mexico City, after being tipped off by Juan and Mark.

Good recap, Sonia. Thanks. I am hanging with this drivel of a story only because I saw Gabriel Soto and Adela Robinson in YNCELH where they both gave outstanding performances. Sadly, this novela does not showcase their talent in my opinion. I remain hopeful that the story improves soon.
Helen

El Coyote is not, and would not be, in Mexico City. Are they in Mexico City? Or just in Mexico (which could be Tijuana - right across the border and definitely El Coyote territory)?

Sonia--
Thank you so much. You and your namesake are making this "drivel of a story" (thank you RinFL) palatable.

RetiredinFL--I'm with you on the Gabriel Soto sightings. I loved him in Un Refugio and YNCELH, but don't count on the story getting much better. I think the writers have painted themselves into several corners, too many characters with side stories and no way out.

Tofie--I agree with you. Maybe Luci and Leo did have their cell phones off, but if they are waiting to have an important appointment confirmed, one would think they'd be checking in regularly. Smells like plot device to me.

Plot device maybe but Luciana isn't the most responsible young woman and not much for procedure. When she wants something she just barges in without knocking, bailed on her commitment to speak at the wine launch without an apology, reluctantly provided information Graciela needed only after Miguel strongly recommended it, slipped away to San Francisco to San Francisco when there was plenty of work and failed to give her boss a heads up she was leaving the country. Sounds like she's just being Luciana.

And she is the protagonist? New Age Telenovelas, I guess.

Tofie, and on top of your indictmentS of lovely Luci, she seems unconcerned about her Visa errand and more into wondering aloud with BroLeo if she could find a job in Mex City and how exciting it would be to live there.

If she misses her appointment she'll blame it on Graciela or David.

Gobluefan: I hope you're wrong about El Coyote kidnapping Luciana, but we've seen crazy things happen before.

The big question is how long before OJ Mark starts violently beating Susan again ?

yeah, I find little to admire and cheer for in the leading lady, an immature lass who doesn't seem to know what she wants or have any direction. What would make the writers think that viewers would relate to her? As for the galan, I need a hero and do not see one in Dismal Dave who spends every episode whining , stewing, and moping .

But surely, since they extended this tn in Mexico, that's a sign that things pick up at some point. The leads certainly are pretty. But this tn didn't even grab me from the first episode, and I haven't watched a full episode yet, so what do I know? I'm lurking here for you guys-- recappers and commenters. :)

Thanks, Sonia. Tano is hurting the wall because he saw Susan kissing her ex - ha!

David's got some nerve telling Miguel he was out of place to go the police himself. Miguel, you just keep right on taking charge. If you get fired, Erika has a slot for you.

I vote Luciana and Miguel went someplace where they had to turn off or check their phones with security.

Brian is freaky. He likes living dangerously and being caught between Lillian and Marta is just that. He loves nobody.

Anita, I trust your thoughts about the salvageability of this story, so, I'd like to place an order for overnight shipment of a beanie please.
Vivi, see you in "lurkdom". I'll be at the bar ordering a stiff martini. Salud!
Helen
