Vino el Amor, #70, February 7, 2017: Vino el New Opportunity

Decisions are made, threats are made, whines are made and immigrant deliveries are made. Better: Miguel sanely decides to leave the vineyard of threats and whines and illegal immigrant fines but not much wine, except for the poisoned batch that he was the only one ever worried about.

  • Repeated scene: Supposedly professional vineyard women Luciana and Susan sob helplessly on their office floor about the men they dumped.
  • Marta visits David in his office to tell him she's worried about Luciana because she broke up with Miguel. He doesn't seem as worried about this, as she tells him she just wants to know what's in his head about Luciana. He tells her Luciana has turned his frown upside down. (OK he really said his life, because goodness knows he's still a frowny face)
  • Tano is hanging out on the patio of employees' quarters and Luciana comes up. They commiserate over their breakups and having to work with exes. She warns him to be careful with Fer as his boss is her dad. Luciana thanks Tano for his contribution to Leon's fine and she'll see if Miguel will accept the money she plans to contribute (note she hasn't done this yet) for his fine.
  • Marta asks if that means David really is into Luciana or is he just jealous of Miguel. He affirms that he is indeed in love with her and kind of gushes about her. Marta raises a bunch of (I thought) valid concerns including the fact that Luciana and David butt heads, Fer, working for one's boss, and especially the what if you break her heart one, and he promises her that he loves Luciana. She's still concerned.
  • Leon is on the phone with Ingrid telling her that he misses her. Sonia overhears this and goes AHEM. She tells him she doesn't want to interrupt anything personal and drops off an envelope with a contribution towards paying his fine. He ends the call, tells her to wait, then gets all flirty with Sonia to the point where she calls him "Lion cub". It seems they are back on and she gives him a little kiss.
  • Luciana and Miguel encounter each other in the employees' kitchen and he tells her the other vineyard offered him a job. Luciana can't believe that he'd consider a job offered by Erika's vineyard. You better believe it! They get into a big fight about this. Luciana doesn't want Miguel but she sure doesn't want him working for Erika at the rival vineyard. Ugh, Luciana is really something else. Run like the wind to the other vineyard, Miguel, run like the wind.  Miguel thinks it's a good opportunity and it is better than working with his ex and feeling hurt. Luciana encourages him to think it through. Thankfully, he is taking my advice and has made the decision to accept the job.
  • Grungy Mark is chilling like a villain and Perla brings him a sandwich. Of course he thanks her by creepily hitting on her very aggressively. He pulls her on his lap and tells her she needs to be nice to him if she doesn't want anything to Juan or Carito. Then he smashes an unwanted kiss on her. She pushes her way off of him just as Carito comes in. Carito can tell something is up and asks what.
  • Well I thought Miguel sounded firm enough, but nope, Luciana goes in for another round of how could yous with him. The poor guy has to defend his perfectly sane decision to work at the competent vineyard with the nice lady instead of the dysfunctional, constantly in legal trouble vineyard alongside his shrew of an ex who he still loves so he could watch her be in love with the boss. He leaves to give the (good) news of his (good) decision to take a new job to David.
  • Ugh, I guess she had no choice, so Perla tells Carito that she and Grungy Mark were just talking. That jerk chimes in that they were just talking about how much Perla cares about Carito and Juan and says goodbye to the ladies.
How about you just leave, permanently?
  • Carito says she can't stand Grungy Mark and asks if things are really OK. Perla lies and says they are. Carito actually came by to tell Perla she has changed her mind and won't be returning to Mexico. Apparently the big Luciana/Miguel breakup is the deciding factor, and Carito has decided to go after Miguel.
  • Ramon and Tano contribute to the payment of Leon's fine. Marta is grateful for their help. Ramon gets up close and promises Marta they will find the money needed.
  • Miguel arrives in David's office to give his notice. David actually asks him if its necessary to go work for the competition. Miguel explains that with all that's happened, this seems like a good idea. David gets it and says nice things about Miguel's work. Miguel thanks David, David wishes Miguel good luck and they shake on it professionally, then hug it out. Aw.
  • Miguel thanks David and tells him he's not only leaving for a better opportunity but also for Luciana and he still plans to compete for her love. Oh goodie. David and Miguel have a long stoic look face-off and stare into each others eyes.
  • Cesar and Susan duck into a Sonoma cafe, trailed by Grungy Mark. Luckily, Grungy Mark was being trailed by Juan who stops him from following them. Mark has 15 minutes to get to anger management class. Dummy thought Juan was joking about that class. He doesn't want to go to class with those losers. Juan tells him it's losers or jail. Fine, Mark will go. Mark then gets a call - a fresh delivery of new immigrants is coming in tonight.
Ha ha, you knew I'd screencap this!
  • The stareoff ends and David tells Miguel he understands. Miguel offers David an envelope with the money for his fine. David refuses, and tells him the vineyard is paying. They go back and forth about this and decide that Miguel will pay 1/3 of the total.
  • Cesar and Susan dine al fresco. At first they have a pleasant chitchat about a book but it turns into the usual domestic abuse counseling for Susan who can only worry about Tano conversation. Progress has been made, though, because Susan actually changes the subject and inquires about Cesar's love life for once. Unfortunately, no-game Cesar discusses how he has no game. Susan tells him he's a great guy and ladies just need to get to know him. They bond over their inabilities to find lasting love. New couple/telenovela trope alert!
  • Guess what David's next move is, now that Miguel has quit and Marta told him that Miguel and Luciana broke up? You'll never guess in a million years!
  • David asks her how she's doing. She responds "OK" and when asked if she's sure, yes, she is. David asks her if it's true she broke up with Miguel. She confirms this. He empathizes and mentions Miguel's new job. Luciana snots that she's not in agreement with this but it's his decision. He empathizes with this too. She tells him she needs a little alone time to process and he agrees, telling her if she needs anything, just come see him. Empathetic David to the rescue!
  • Leon and Tano (with Ramon) are not happy their best friend Miguel has taken a job at the rival vineyard and yell at him a little when he breaks the news. He explains the concept of taking a good job opportunity when one lands in your lap to them, and then mentions that he's recommended that Ramon be promoted to take his spot. Ramon is moved but doesn't think he's fit to fill Miguel's shoes.
  • Empathetic David continues with the empathizing and I'm here for yous, which Luciana thanks him for. Marta comes up on them and interrupts. He gets the hint and scoots. Marta sits down for some straight shooting conversation with Luciana. She sits down and lets Luciana know that  she spoke to David and told him that she doesn't want him pursuing romance with Luciana. Luciana is kind of horrified. Marta explains that there are issues, but she chooses the wrong one to start with, as she tells Luciana that she is worried about how Fer will react. Luciana of course takes this as Marta caring more about Fer than Luciana. Marta says she is trying to protect Luciana and then explains that there are class differences between them that matter too.
  • Ramon and Miguel begin to discuss his new duties, and Leon and Tano start to walk off in disgust. They are taking this hard! Miguel calls them out on it and re-explains the concept of how one should take a better job when offered it. Leon says it's really about my sister. Miguel says that is part of it but it's a good opportunity that will further his dream of one day owning a vineyard, and the boss understands. Miguel mentions that they'll still hang out and also mentions what David said about paying the fine. Leon is still furious. Tano says Leon is right and stomps out after him.
  •  Marta tries to explain how class differences can negatively affect a relationship. Luciana discounts this. Marta explains that having a romance with the boss is not always the best step in the workplace. Luciana discounts this. Marta says Luciana wouldn't be so angry about this if she wasn't interested in David. Then Marta comes right out and asks if Luciana dumped Miguel so that she could get with the boss. Luciana denies this and asks why her normally supportive mother is being like this.
  • David checks on Fer who is knee deep in homework. She's trying to improve her grades in order to get into university. David tells her that putting in a good effort will do good things. Fer replies that Grace said the same to her. Gracie apparently was not that great an artist at first, but put in hard work. David finishes, and now she is a recognized artist. Fer misses Gracie. She asks David about going to Spain for a graduation gift and he's fine with that. Since he's feeling not grumpy and rather empathetic, Fer goes for it and starts birthday-party planning. First, she hopes Gracie will return from Spain in time. But now Fer has to go pick up Bobby as she promised to take him to the movies. David is worried about them going alone. Of course, David suggests Luciana could go with them as they are getting along better. Fer is unthrilled with this suggestion and tells her dad that she has her doubts about Luciana but she is trying to get along with her for her brother's sake. David encourages her to keep trying with Luciana. Fer agrees to invite Luciana on the movies outing and leaves to get Bobby.
  • Marta continues to plead her case, as she's worried Fer won't accept Luciana, not to mention Lilian (the bruja).  Luciana is furious that she said all this to David. Marta says she did it for Luciana's sake. Luciana replies that Marta always cares more about Fer. Marta denies it, but Luciana isn't buying it.
  • Carito spies Miguel leaving the vineyard offices and pounces. He's ripe for the picking since his best friends don't understand his decisions. He just wants someone to be happy he got a new job that seems like a good opportunity. Carito says she is that someone and lays it on thick. Miguel is grateful someone gets it.
  • Luciana demands to know why her mother is acting like this. Marta explains that when she was young, she fell in love with someone she shouldn't have fallen in love with. Luciana questions if her dad was the love of Marta's life. Marta says he was, but there were other loves, and this one was bad. She doesn't want to give details but she wants Luciana to learn from her youthful mistakes. Then they are back to Miguel and Erika and Marta gets in a subtle I told you so. Luciana doesn't appreciate that and declaring she doesn't need Miguel or Marta, she gets up and stomps off.
Ugh, I feel ya here Marta
  • Carito and Miguel continue their talk. She asks him to let her know if there's a job opportunity at the competent vineyard. He agrees. She'd love to continue working with him and reassures him of her support.
  • Carito walks off and Susan comes up to Miguel to tell him to not worry and believe in himself.
  • David and Juan discuss the fine payment arrangements and Miguel's resignation. Juan calls Miguel a traitor which David rejects. David next angrily asks what's happening with Grungy Mark. Juan says Mark is going to stay in jail and David need not worry.
  • Mark and Perla hustle the new batch of immigrants into the new holding pen. Mark decides to creepily hit on her again during this. She tells him not to do that when they are working. If he hits on her again, she will tell Juan. He tells her to remember what will happen if she does. But he won't, for now. Ugh, this guy.
  • At the competently-run vineyard, Adolfo and Erika go over vineyard plans and are excited to think they might beat David in that upcoming wine competition. I have no doubts myself. Adolfo approves the budget. She tells him that with her European training and Miguel helping, it's a sure thing. On cue, Miguel knocks on the door and accepts the job offer. Adolfo seems a little surprised and Erika beams.
  • Bobby is out on the town with Fer and Luciana. He wants to see some nerdy superhero movie. Fer does not. She wants to see a rom-com. Fer turns to Luciana and asks her if she's bored. Luciana says no, just pre-occupied and thanks her for inviting her along to this sibling movie outing. Fer says she noticed Luciana seemed sad and wanted to do something nice but if she doesn't trust her, how can they be friends. Bobby asks if Luciana feels bad. Luciana says she is a little sad over some personal things in her life but she appreciates the invitation. Bobby knows everything is better with chocolate and goes to buy Luciana some candy. Fer says she hopes Luciana is glad they invited her out, and then is interrupted by a call from Gracie. Fer tells Gracie what's happening and Gracie is not pleased, talking a mile a minute about how Fer needs to stay on course with their plan to separate Luciana and David, and not let Luciana take advantage of Gracie's absence. Fer tells her she only asked Luciana to join them because she promised her father she would try more with Luciana. She pledges her loyalty and tells Gracie she misses her. Gracie says she's waiting on her payment for a few days but will return soon. They hang up and Gracie frets that she needs to get back to the vineyard ASAP.
  • Erika starts to accept Miguel's acceptance of employment, but Adolfo wants to doublecheck that Miguel left David on good terms. He says that he did and explains his qualifications for the job. Adolfo says that he's qualified, but they need to get his references. They also need to clarify that this vineyard actually operates like a vineyard operates differently from David's. Miguel may have been a supervisor there, but at this vineyard, he will need to work his way up, earn the position and show that he can work under different circumstances. Miguel is OK with that and thanks them for the opportunity. He's excited and says he thinks he will turn their vineyard around in a week, and pledges that he will do a good job for them. Erika will set up his living quarters. Miguel thanks them again for the job offer. He's excited to turn it into the best vineyard (I think you might already be there, Miguel, it's light years ahead of David's poisoned wine and broken heartsville vineyard). Adolfo hopes so and leaves. Erika gives Miguel a big hug. Miguel thanks her for the opportunity and the hope she has given him. Yes, from me too. THANK YOU ERIKA.

Very Very nice. you out D id Y ourself Thanks a bunch.
I am now convinced that not only do I not like Marta, it is morphing into downright hate. I still say she is hiding something. Her diatribe last night to / on David was far above a simple Mother's instinct to protect a college educated grown daughter. This is getting darker every day.

Perla is begging for something bad to happen to herself. No pity. I don't cry a lot when somebody jumps off a cliff either as long as they only land on dirt.

dy, I think this was your finest recap to date. Outstanding. Everything from the title, to the screen shots to your excellent recap, was perfect.

I wanted to cut and paste your entire recap as almost every line was terrific. I pared down my substantial list to "Miguel sanely decides to leave the vineyard of threats and whines and illegal immigrant fines but not much wine, except for the poisoned batch that he was the only one ever worried about", "Supposedly professional vineyard women Luciana and Susan sob helplessly on their office floor about the men they dumped" and "he's still a frowny face".

I so appreciate your explaining Marta’s arguments against David to Luciana. I do agree that she is concerned that he not hurt her. Any mother would be. However, I’m a bit perturbed at Marta’s constant reiteration that David and Luciana are in different social classes. In this day and age, does it really matter? Luci is knowledgeable and savvy about David’s work and also possesses a degree (again, not that it matters). She loves Bobby and wants to embrace Fernanda. I can’t think of much more than a solid foundation for them to build on. Further, Marta’s question to Luci as to whether or not she “dumped” Miguel for David was beyond insulting.

Kirby, I can't say I feel as strongly as you do about Marta, but she completely turned me off.

Sonia’s playful interaction with her “lion cub” was the highlight of the night for me.

And Mark’s self-branding of himself as a “loser” complete with his childish hand sign to that effect had me laughing in his face (so to speak) :)

“The poor guy has to defend his perfectly sane decision to work at the competent vineyard with the nice lady instead of the dysfunctional, constantly in legal trouble vineyard alongside his shrew of an ex who he still loves so he could watch her be in love with the boss” Perfect. So frustrating. I am happy he heeded your advice and took the job. However, I don't think Leon and Tano were jealous or being selfish when they showed their displeasure. They see it in black and white. Miguel is going to work for the competition and there is no gray area.

Erika and her father warmly embraced Miguel and there seems no doubt this is the beginning of a very happy and productive life for him.

I have not been a Carito fan but I thought her support of Miguel last night was touching and sincere. I also felt Fernanda is experiencing a torrent of internal emotions. She wants desperately to please her aunt and knows she cannot embrace Luci at all. She is trying to appease her father but will be forced to make a decision once David makes his intentions toward Luciana clear. Marta was right that this relationship will be a battleground.

Mark needs to go. Pronto.

I noticed there was no Brian last night. Frankly, I'm surprised I even noticed. Maybe I am a tad bit interested (?)

"Bobby knows everything is better with chocolate and goes to buy Luciana some candy". Good boy. No wonder we all like you.

dy, this was phenomenal. Thank you.

Diana

That screencap of Mark is awesome dy and thanks for the recap too.

I wonder to what length Marta will go to keep David and Luciana apart. She leverages Fernanda against her, same as Graciela, encouraged the relationship with Miguel, same as Graciela but now both Marta and Graciela need to be more creative. If they could put personal animosity aside they could work together.

Hard for me to understand why Luciana isn't more resentful towards Marta.

Best part last night was Graciela's panic on the phone with Fernanda.

It's a good thing if Miguel gets Carito a job and away from Perla but poor thing, when she meets the new boss.

Kirby: Marta is an IDIOT. I'm waiting for her affair with Don Fernando to be revealed, so that her own kids can hate her too. FerBrat will definitely hate Marta once the affair with her late grandfather is exposed by Lillian (who's going to counter-strike sooner or later).

1.) OJ Mark still on the loose ? WTH ? Are the law enforcement authorities that incompetent in Sonoma, CA ?

2.) Carito feeling compassion for Miguel. But we all know Miguel & Erika are endgame.

3.) Let's see how long Bobby likes Luciana before FerBrat, Lillian & Graciela start manipulating his mind.

Diana: OJ Mark & Juan scheming to bring more illegal immigrants.

I could be wrong about Marta, but here is my reasoning.
Marta has known David for fifteen or twenty years, so she probably knows him pretty well. All observations so far is that he is a good man, fair to his employees, with few character flaws aside form blind trust He's the kind of guy a woman would kill for.

So Marta has no plausible reason to be so against Luci and David. Unless her bull about this class thing is all a smoke screen and she knows something and is not telling Luci the real reason. This is a TN, so is Luci related to David somehow? Does Marta know he has ge..warts? WTF is it? "He's the boss" does not hold water, because in the real world Luc and Dav are on about equal footing.

Sonia is just so out there. If anything ever comes of this between her and the Lion Cub he'd better fasten his seat belt. It could be a wild ride.

Counter-Strike, Steve? That is good. She and Gutirrezz were both AWOL last night. She is too old to get pregnant isn't she?

Thanks, dy77. "Ha ha, you knew I'd screencap this!" I love the way you use screencaps almost as punctuation.

I can't believe Luciana had the nerve to object to Miguel going to work in the other vineyard. How can she justify demanding him to stay?

"She's trying to improve her grades in order to get into university." LOL, if she's a senior, then it's already too late to improve her grades if she hopes to attend any college next year!

Miguel "says he thinks he will turn their vineyard around in a week" really? Does it even need to be turned around? That sounds rather arrogant.

Marta is definitely hiding something. If she has a compelling tale, she should tell Luciana what it is, not just hint around that she knows something Luciana doesn't.

Boohoo, my married lover wouldn't leave his wife for me it must be a class thing. While the class thing is part of Marta's objection it is more about hiding her relationship with Fernando from everyone. Lilian has threatened to tell and Marta knows if there is a relationship between Luciana and David Lilian for sure will tell.

Luci, Look Honey, the guy you are wanting to hook up with is yo DADDY. If you go ahead with this your kids will possibly have tails. I'm so ashamed.

Well It is as believable as a $10,000 fine for somebody you know getting somebody they know into the witness protection program, or whatever it was wit InGrid.

Gracias, dy77.

Marta can't make this argument unless she explains it in much more detail. Luciana is too old to pull the "I'm your mother" card on her. There could be a certain unconscious reverse snobbery going on that if Luciana marries David she might ignore her mother and brother because they aren't up there with her. It could be envy of the education that enabled Luciana's upward mobility. And if Luciana is Fernando's child as I once speculated, he wasn't related to David or David could not have married Lisa.

Unless Lisa wasn't Fernando's.

Mind you, I'm not advancing that theory except as an example of something the writers could have pulled out of their butts at any time due to the vagueness of information we've been given about the alleged relationship between Marta and Fernando.

Carito following Miguel to Santa Barbara might help her get away from Juan and Mark, but it will bring her a different kind of grief. Carito, there's a song by The Rolling Stones that you should hear....

Mark will ultimately be Juan's downfall.

Oh, good show, dy. Particularly the inevitable Mark screencap...thank you for being meta, show.

Marta doubling down on her insistence that Luciana can't be with David (while Luci was still espousing that she was choosing "me" for the moment, and that in itself is still rather sane) to the point of confronting both parties about it was supposed to push her further towards the martyr-making-up-for-past-mistakes. Or at least that was the show's intent as I saw it. The problem is that it brought us right back to the dead elephant in the room--her affair with Fernando--and that continuing lie of omission (which I admittedly can't help viewing in the sense that there still has to be one last bombshell coming from that: the dreaded Paternity Carpet Pull) does/did indeed make her look like a hypocrite, if a well-meaning one. It probably also continues to highlight the weird, clunky way the show's addressed or rather not addressed that subplot, which really doesn't help its case.

Mark apparently being Perla's karma coming home to roost? Kinda serves her right, kinda overkill, still not sure if it somehow comes back around to her BFF Carito (who was relatively sane in this episode).

As for Miguel...most of y'all have said it before, but I think last night was the episode where it was painfully obvious that he was (accidentally?) the unofficial primary galan of this fakakta show. It gave me a weird Pasion y Poder flashback--albeit there it was more severe, since you had Jorge Salinas and Fernando Colunga and the latter was the SOB of the piece before he went to therapy and his competition got killed off and screw you, Televisa--ahem; the guy who's supposed to be the main galan, with top billing and all, is or has largely been a secondary character in his own damn story? Que que whaaat?

DY--Couldn't wait to jump in with my theory, but Kirby beat me to it. So, I'll start by thanking you for a brilliant recap. It's worthy of emulating for all the truthiness and snarkiness you conveyed. Gracias, amiga. Just Wow!

Kirby--Fortunately, even if Luciana is somehow related to Granpa Fernando (an oopsie pregnancy she pinned on Marcos), Luci's genes are safe from incestuous contamination. David, thank goodness is not related to this particular grandpa.

Maybe more after I read the rest of the comments. Yes, Marta was too strident in her objection to David on a class level, but too evasive of her own prejudices. She never once mentioned the age difference--which she could have tried to use as persuasively.

Por fin, we have a secret that needs to be uncovered that even we don't know about.

Dy77, I love the funny way you very meticulously described the hearbrake
Vineyard. And that's just what it is. Nobody is happy there, theres crooked a lawyer friend, evil mother-inlaw from
Hell, murderous aunts, mean braty teenaged girl, and really strange house manager who gets her kicks out
Of romance novels, who got the hots for her boss who she refers to as "My
Sinor". And then there's her"Bear cub.
This is swingin vineyard. And the boss is totally out of the loop about the
People closest to him. Yeah Miguel needs a brake, go mig go. Run.

I don't blame Luciana for being pissed
At Marta for her saying "you're not from the same class. Every Time I hear her say that it bugs me. And she can't compare her situation to hers, Lucy didn't CheT with someone's husband she
Broke up with we'll meaning pushy guy.
Whom she kinda did string along. Marta
Couldn't even look at lucy when she flatout asked her reason for her very guilty objection to her and David being together. She kept throw in that "class" crap at her.
I want to know what really happen with
Her and lil's hubby. But a whole different situation, david is not trapped....eh married like Fernando was.

Mark is still slim.
Juan is just dumb.
Perla and carita: dumb&dumber, I think
Perla is the dumber one. O,these folk.

I hope the plane crashes and nobody gets killed and Gracie gets stuck on
Island and everyone else gets rescued.
I know that's a stretch, BUT SOMEBODY
NEEDS SOME HAPPINESS AT "THE VINEYARD OF DOOM AND BAD TASTING WINE".

Thank you dy77. CHEERS! :)

As for the Paternity Carpet Pull (love that one) the worst outcome would be that Luciana is the daughter of Fernando, which would make her the half-sister of Lisa and DisGracie. That would not be any reason to prevent a relationship between her and David since Luciana didn't grow up as their sister.

That would make her children with David both half-siblings and cousins to David's current children. No big deal by compared to the fallout when Lillian and DisGracie find out. In fact, this could send both of them to the funny farm.

UA--You also got there first, with an even better explanation.
However, I don't believe Luci is David's child. There has never been anything even hinted at as having been between the two of them. She would have been a lot franker with David when she went to talk to him.

BTW--I was with Luci all the way with her mother's interference. How dare she...and with what right? Her warnings should only have been directed at Luci and let Luci decide--or give her the real scoop on why she can't be with David. The ONLY thing that could possibly keep them apart is consanguinity. She surely would have said something to David if it had been something like that.

If Luciana is Fernando's it is Luciana I feel bad for, though she had a closer relationship with Marcos than either Leon or Marta, which was a blessing.

The one thing that might mitigate Luci being Fernando's kid, at least WRT Marta from a character standpoint, is if back in the day she admitted to her affair and Marcos forgave her. Give me that crumb and...while it doesn't help her hypocrisy per se, it at least gives her a little bit of good karma back and it doesn't mess with current events at all. (We're all really waiting for Fernando's final fate to come out anyway, methinks.)

Julie--I was not surprised, but was truly incensed when Luci flew off the handle with Miguel saying he shouldn't go work with the competition. She told him to look for another position somewhere else. He was right to stand his ground.

DY--Did David really tell Marta, during their "stay away from my daughter" meeting that he "loved" her? I thought he managed to skirt the word and express his feelings for her without coming out with the "amor" word.

I wish he had said the A word, but I doubt that Marta would have changed her mind.

Marta is a class A hypocrite. She need to come clean. As hateful as lil is, Marta ain't no saint. It would not surprise me if Lucy is fernando's "affair"spawn.

And it would not surprise me either if Marcos knew about it and he just decided to accept Lucy as his only. It could be mama Marta was a rollin stone, before she got all humble like. Just sayin.

Marcos seemed like he was a very sweet man and he may have even blamed himself for the affair, that might be a stretch too but it's something to think about since we don't know what the hell went on before the show started with these people. That's why they need to tell us.

......so we won't be making these far
Out assumptions. Yall I am on a break at work and that's why I got nothing else to do but sit here and write these stretched out comments with bad spellin. just having fun till time to go back to spelling.

The longer they build up the suspense about the alleged affair between Marta and Fernando, the more spectacular the reveal will have to be. I think this mystery has gone on long enough already that there's little chance that the truth will live up to the hype. It would have to be something crazy-big, like, Luci isn't Martha's daughter because there was a baby-swap. (Totally ridiculous, just an example.) Or Fernando had a twin brother that Lil didn't know about, and Marta's affair was with the twin and he's still alive, secretly living in the basement. Or there was no affair at all, they were just playing a joke on Lil to drive her crazy.

Til time to go back to work"is what I wanted to say aBove.

Well they didn't have to drive too far for that, that lady is there.

Nina you are so funny

THANK YOU ERIKA FOR COMING TO THE RESCUE: Now get to work in the love-making business :)

Thank you, dy77 for the detailed recap and screencaps.

Luci, none of your business where or with whom (hot competition Erica ) Miguel works. You did not want him. You broke up. He is a big boy. You are not the boss of him. Move along.

We have not seen Gut.I have a feeling that he is busy working on that immigration case and ready to nail Marked and Juan. I would like him to deputize Dave so that Dave could wear a badge on his vest. New sheriff in town, Juan.

Could Luci be Dave's love child? How old is Marta...45? How old is Dave ?...40.

Thank you everyone!

Anita, David did not use the word love but he pretty much conveyed his total infatuation with Luciana to Marta.

Susanlynn and Kirby and everyone with this theory, OMG, please do not let Luciana be David's love child. YIKES. Although it would explain her grouchy disposition.

Tofie, I still hope Carito can get a job at the competent vineyard. Even if her one-sided love for Miguel is doomed, it still gets her away from numerous other bad situations and improves her lot. I've got hope for that girl. Like Diana said, she was kind with Miguel last night.

I think going to the other vineyard would do Carito a lot of good, just by virtue of getting her away from Perla. (Juan and Smelly Mark too, yes, but I think Carito needs to know what it's like to have real friends rather than the likes of Perla.)

Julie..Yes, Carito needs to go somewhere else. She seemed sincere with Miguel , so maybe she realizes that he only sees her as a friend . Miguel and ERica seem destined for each other.

Was anyone else surprised by the bro hug between Dave and Miguel? Was DAve acknowledging that Miguel was leaving the path open for Dave to pursue Luci ?

No way is David Luciana's father. How the hell did this theory come up?

My theory that she is Fernando's child would be an "up yours" to Lillian and DisGracie for their constant "you aren't part of the faaaaaaamily" crap they dish out. However, David and Luciana could always elope and make it a fait accompli that the vitches can't do anything about.

Cesar needs to enable this situation. He's calm, level-headed, and could be a great Henry Higgins to Luciana's Eliza; she has a shorter distance to go than the original.

I can't believe we're only at the hump.

I think the bro hug was one of mutual respect but also the acknowledgement the thing that split them was their love for the same woman. David is on notice that this is only a tactical retreat for Miguel, he'll be back for the woman. If it doesn't work between Erika and Miguel he'll be back and the new improved Miguel will have her waffling between two men again. That's just how she rolls.

I think it's quite likely that Luci is Fernando's daughter.

Though one interesting twist, if there never really was an affair, would be for Lil to assume (or suspect) that Luci is Fernando's, when she's actually Marcos.

If there WAS really an affair, then it would be interesting if both Lil and Marta assume that Luci is Fernando's, but a DNA test reveals that she isn't.

Either way, as long as Lil suspects that Luci is Fernando's daughter, eventually she will reveal her suspicion to Grace, who will be horrified. And I'm in favor of anything that ruins her day.

Great Recap Dy..I chuckled through out and the "loser" screen cap is priceless. If Mark only knew he's at the head of that class!

I'm not a Miguel fan by any means and sort of becoming bored and annoyed at the way this tn is revolving around him and his drama with regard to Lucia. I thought the galan of this TN was GS/David? That said, I hope he moves on quickly to Ericka and lets go of this fantasy of having Lucia. Dude still thinks he has a shot and is going to come back an win her. I personally can't wait for his face to get permanently cracked once David/Lucia really get together. He's been too Smug and too sure of himself all along and wtf was his attitude at his new job. He can turn things around? Wow..arrogant much Smuguel? I'm pretty sure there are other workers there and they've been holding up okay before you graced them with your over inflated ego. Yeah..I can't with this dude.

Marta needs to shut her pie hole. Why is this woman such a head trip? Does she get that she hasn't raised her daughter for the majority of her life? Has she even tried to understand who Lucia is? What she needs from her mother is to LISTEN? Marta keeps making it about her and her experiences. Marta can't even manage her owb pathetic love life and shew wants to tell Lucia how to navigate hers? I don't blame Lucia for being pissed at her mom. Marta opens her mouth and out comes the most antiquated and selfish nonsense. I hope Lucia just does what she wants for ONCE. No more guilt tripping and manipulating by Smuguel and being made to feel bad by Marta.

As for what Marta's big secret is..I have no clue but the way this tn has gone so far, I wouldn't give the writer's so much credit. It's all probably a big build up to nothing. Much the way the romance of David and Lucia has gone so far. I don't know why I keep hanging on. Do I sound bitter?

I feel bad for Fer another girl being guilt tripped and manipulated by her grandmother and Aunt..two vipers. I think Fer could actually become friends with Lucia and it seems like she really needs one. How cute is Bobby? He's going to be thrilled once Lucia and his Dad become the real deal. Lilian and Gracie's heads will explode...no need for a rock!

Soo-sun..nothing new there. This chick is a drag.

I have to say I agree I missed Gutierrez in this ep.

Thanks again Dy, in spite of my bitter heart, it was a great recap and a very fun read!

Dy77...Just wanted to say how happy I am that Miguel listened to YOUR advice instead of Luciana's. What is up with this girl thinking that she can tell him what to do?

I want to see LIon CUb and Sonia together. She will rock his world.

P.s. I see that nobody has checked at the Internet for actual fines for siding illegal immigrants. They all just accept Juan's word . Have any of them met Lies Like a RUg Juan? Have they all just forgotten the suspicions about Juan and the pesticide caper?

Siding...Aiding.

Julie: I'm afraid it's too little, too late for Carito!

I forgot to mention Lion cub and Sonia! So cute..they are the only bright spot on this tn.

I need more of them!

Dy77...two more things....

"Ugh, this guy." That is Mark in a nutshell.

Also...if Juan told Dave that Mark is still in jail, Deputy Dave will not be on pervert alert the next time MAngy attacks Susan...and you know that is going to happen . ugh again.

Marta's coming from only her own experiences in life. Does she have any friends to compare notes with? I'm guessing she doesn't. That puts severe limits on her ability to understand that Luciana will not have the same limitations. Her vision is limited and she can't see what there is beyond it.

I don't see malice on her part, but she needs to realize that Luciana's education has created opportunities for her that she could not imagine for herself.

You're right of course UA, but still Marta just bugs. One minute she's pushing her daughter to marry Smuguel, then telling her not to marry him to just keep from being deported. She's all over the damn place with what she tells her daughter. I feels she has severely over stepped her boundaries in telling her grown daughter how to live her life. There's guidance and there's guilt trips and pressure. I feel like Lucia has had her mother ganging up on her on one side and Miguel on the other. Lucia hasn't had any time to just do what she wants or even deal with her feelings. That vineyard is like a fish bowl, with everyone up in each other's business. I really can't wait until Lucia and David finally just say the hell with everyone and do what they want with regard to their relationship.

Holy Guacamole, a little speculation about where Luci got her looks and disposition, IE: N O T from Marta, sure lighted up Caray today.

Yeah, after Luci has a DNA test and there is World War 3 in the Vineyard of Oblivion, the results finally come back and Luci is not related to Marcos OR Fernando.. DOH ! as Homer would say. And Marta still aint telling.

While all you were figuring this out I was mediating a Turf War inside my laptop between Microsoft and Linux Ubuntu.

Who won?

Delilah, I agree with you 100%. They should do what Lucia & Marcelo did. The hell with everybody else let's do life for us. Bless em. Everybody has an opinion of why they shouldn't be together, it is their life not theirs.
Mama already made her mistakes and if this is a mistake let Luciana make it herself, hornin in trying to make her life hers. I don't think it's a mistake. They should be together. Miguel who? Gracie who?

I hope you won kirby:)

I won after explaining to them that if they could not get along they would be looking for a new HOST.
Gave each exactly half the hard drive to do as they pleased and shut the lid. :-)

Yup Nina Julie Delilah Anita and all, Luci needs to tell Mama "Look..I am going to make my mistakes all by myself. As much experience as you have (making mistakes) ....I STILL do not need your help making them."

Thanks again all!

Susanlynn, if only all the soap opera and telenovela characters would only just heed my advice... ;)

Dy77...yes, why don't they realize that...so annoying.

As the mother of two daughters and the daughter of a mother...good luck to Marta trying to tell adult Luci what to do. Good luck with that . #fiction.
