Vino el Amor #103; Wednesday, March 29, 2017: Vino muchas problemas

León and Marta are chatting in the employees’ house about her conversation with DisGrace. León warns her to not trust her at all. Then Miguel comes to visit with the plans he needs to leave with David.

At the Robles home, Luciana explains to Bobby what happens with immigrants who come to this country with nothing. Lilian comes in and asks to spend time with Bobby alone. Lilian shares with him that she doesn’t want to give away things that belonged to his mother. So they agree that they will do it together so she can choose what to give away. She says to Bobby that she wants to be close to him and motions to her heart.

Joselo calls DisGrace from Spain. “What do you want now, Joselo?” says DisGrace. “Is that the way you greet me?” says Joselo. He offers to come to Sonoma, but DisGrace says, “No it’s not a good time because my niece had a crisis and nearly committed suicide.” “Oh please!” says Joselo, “Really?” DisGrace says, “Yes, she had a huge crisis and took all these pills, so now is not a good time because I need to help Fernanda with whatever she needs.” “Fine” says Joselo, “I’ll see you at the exhibit.”

Fer comes to see Tano at the distillery while he is working. She shares about how nervous she is about the exams and he gives her lots of encouragement. But Tano gets a phone call from his dad, who is being held at the Sheriff’s office. He runs out to go help and Fernanda tells him that her grandma is a good friend of the sheriff, so she can help.

Luciana is wine tasting in the cava when Miguel appears. “Is this the wine for the competition?” says Miguel. They quickly hug and Miguel says that he brought David the plans. They chat and Lu shares that she made up with her mother. He is happy about that and shares good memories of this vineyard when they were little kids running through the cava, getting caught by Lilian and her yelling at them. They both laugh. Then they hug…But then David comes by and sternly says, “What are you doing here, Miguel?” Mig says, “I just came by to bring you the plans.” Dave says, “Well why didn’t you come find me in my office?” “Look”, says Miguel. “I just came by and thought I’d say hello to everyone here and then look for you.” Dave finally calms down and tells him he is always welcome to come back whether it be professionally or for personal visits. [Well David didn’t behave very welcoming.] Finally, they open up the plans and discuss their options.

After Mig leaves, Lu turns to him and says the dreaded words that no man ever likes to hear: “David, you and I need to talk.”

Lu is not happy and tells Dave, “You are going to have to change your attitude or this thing with us is just not going to work out.” So Dave says, “Well how do you think I feel when I walk in her and you are in Miguel’s arms?” “For heaven sake, David, we were just talking!” Dave says, “Yeah, sure, just talking…Please!” They go on and on and finally Lu says, “Miguel is my friend and you have to respect that.” She goes on about DisGrace and they fight about “I told you a thousand times already…” Lu makes the point that Dave has not made DisGrace and Lil leave even though he promised he would. Their fight is interrupted by Marta coming in and telling Dave about the Ramón situation.

Lilian comes into the patio where DisGrace is and says that she has no patience with Bobby because he has so much energy. [So what do you expect from a 10 year old boy?”] Grace says, “I’m sorry, but you are going to have to do this.” Lil says, “I can’t wait to ship him off to boarding school so he can play fútbol day and night so he can use up his energy.” DisGrace says, “All in good time, mother!” DisGrace goes on and tells her that Joselo called…yada…yada…then lays this on: “I had a talk with Fernanda about Marta and how she should forgive Marta.” Lilian becomes LIVID and says, “Over my dead body!

As they are discussing this, Fernanda comes running in with the news about Ramón. She begs Lil to call the sheriff and do something. Fer says that Marta is on her way to help too. “Marta??? What can she do?” says Lil. “Just leave it to me, I’ll take charge of this” says Lil. “And even though Gutierrez and I had a fight, I will call him for you.”

Tano comes into the employees’ house, tells Marta about what happened and runs to find his father’s immigration paperwork. Sonia comes in and Marta explains how Ramón was detained in town by the police about his immigration documents.  Sonia says, “How can that be? Ramón has never done anything wrong. What can I do to help?” Marta hands something over to Sonia and tells her she is going to go find the boss. Tano comes out with a file folder and is on his way to town to help his father.

Lilian never makes that phone call and backs out. She lies to Fernanda about what happened. But Fer see right through it.

That evening, Mig tells Erica about how Dave didn’t treat him well concerning the plans he came to leave. “What was this all about Luciana again?” says Erica? She says she needs to relax.

At Juan’s place, Juan and Perla discuss their plans. Perla doesn’t want more problems with Mark and Perla doesn’t want more problems. Juan handles Perla by giving her nice gifts and sending her shopping.

At the sheriff’s station Ramón is being held in an office. Another officer comes in and Ramón asks what the charges are. “Where are the orders?” says Ramón. “This is an abuse of authority!”

David keeps trying to get hold of Gutierrez with no luck. He tells Fer not to worry to please go get some rest because her exams are tomorrow. As she leaves, DisGrace enters. She tells him about her upcoming exhibit this weekend, but Dave says, “Sorry, we have the wine competition starting this weekend.” “So that means you aren’t coming?” says Grace? [Duh!] Dave explains that this competition is very important to win. DisGrace says, “Oh but I wanted my FAMILY to participate with ME.” She goes on about trying to organize something special for Bobby as a surprise and he will have to trust her and her mother. “Fine” says Dave. “But, I really don’t think it’s healthy for my kids to be getting so fondly attached to you because you all are supposed to be leaving soon.” She has a tantrum after Dave walks out the door.

Dave walks back in and says, "Is everything alright with you?" She says, "Yeah, of course."

Marta is just beside herself with worry about Ramón. Lu and León explain that he will be alright because he has his documents. Tano returns with bad news. They wouldn’t let him see his father and the lawyer couldn’t help.

In the morning, Lu and León discuss whether or not they think Ramón is in love with their mom. León says he’d much rather have Ramón with his mom rather than that rascal Gutierrez.

Dave gets up early to prepare breakfast for the family, eggs for Fernanda and waffles for Bobby. He did this especially for Fernanda since she takes her exams that morning.

Gutierrez finally walks into the office where Ramón is being held. Ramon says, “Why the hell are you keeping me here?” Gut says it’s part of the raids they are doing and because he “helped” an immigrant girl on vineyard property. [As I recall, Ramón wasn’t even involved.]  Ramon challenges him to take him to a cell like everyone else. “Ha, I knew it. You are doing this because it’s personal.” Gut says, “Marta is mine! As you can see, she’s not here for you.” At that moment, Marta walk in and says, “Are you crazy Brian? I’m NOT YOURS and I will NEVER be yours.”  She goes on to say that she didn’t think she could be more disappointed in him and shows him Ramón’s green card. Marta says, “Please Brian, don’t make me hate you even more.” He finally releases Ramón. Marta then says, “Get a good look at my face, because this is the last time you will ever see me again.” Brian has a temper tantrum and throws everything off his desk. [I think he’s better suited for DisGrace.]

Tano, Marta, and Ramón leave the sheriff’s office talking about how everyone was trying to help him out of that situation. Tano offers to buy breakfast, but Ramón declines saying he would rather get home.

In David’s office, Lu and Dave discuss the final plans when Adolfo walks in and he’s angry because he has a stop work order from the city because they didn’t file for permits and pass inspections. Dave looks shocked thought he didn’t need to because it’s private property. [Really? Come on now. We all know that in our own homes we have to get a permit even to install a new electrical socket.]  Adolfo blames David and back and forth. Now they are BOTH without water! David apologizes and promises he will take care of all this after he takes the kids to school. Adolfo says they both need to go over to the Department of Development.

David arrives at Gut’s office but he’s not there. He finds out that Ramón has been released. He calls Marta and tells her he wants to talk to Gutierrez about his abuses.

Juan and Perla talk about Juan’s plans and Perla even gives a word of wisdom here. She says that with time, he needs to give up his hatred for David. “You have your own property now. You have me. How much more do you want? When is this all going to stop?” Juan is not happy to hear this so he says, “When David finally meets his end, that’s when!”

At SB vineyard, Erica looks overworked and tired. She doesn’t know what else to do.

Miguel tells her to rest and relax. Then she collapses and has what appears to be an asthma attack because she can’t breathe. She passes out and Mig calls 911. He gets her to wake up and she asks him not to tell her father. He asks where her medicine is and she says it’s in a drawer. Paramedics arrive and they get to work but they say they need her medicine. Luciana arrives because she saw an ambulance outside. Miguel is going crazy looking for Erica’s medicine. Adolfo walks in and wonders what the heck is going on and angrily says, “Why are YOU doing here, Luciana?”

Adolfo is very angry to the point of being irrational, blaming Lu and Miguel over Erica’s being ill.

I've combined scenes to make it easier to write. It may seem a little out of order.

By the way, I'd like to know more about Erika's lung disease. Is it asthma? COPD? Institial lung disease? They are so VAGUE about it. I thought it was over the top when Adolfo was blaming Miguel and Luciana for his daughter's medical emergency with her lungs.

thank you, Cynthia, for the speedy recap.

I guess that Gut is finally out of the running for Marta. What a big jerk. Basta.

We all said that ERica's health issue would eventually come up.she wears some interesting good. That black leather and lace one had her challenging Xena, Warrior PRincess. They seem to be customer designed for her. The red too was the same design. DIsgrace also had a very interesting too on..Very artisty.

Juan seems to be all Randy as his plans appear to be falling into place.

Got to go. later, gator. Enjoy your day.

Good.???..That was supposed to be tops...Sorry...So sleepy zzzzzz

Thanks Cynthia, another Recap which beat the show handily

This show needs a whole lot more of “Really? Then Fork you, you are done.”

What was Erika wearing at first? Some Dominatrix outfit in black leather and black lace?

Is Frederick's of Hollywood just now catching on in Mexico?

We finally got the Lung Cancer we have been waiting for. Or her pants were so frigging tight she just could not get a breath.

Guttie Boy is full of surprises (and shit) isn't he. Sorpreso!

NoJuan needs to buy a hair and put it on his girly chest.

Hot Damn! What an episode, now everybody hates everybody.

Cynthia, I'm very impressed that your screen shots captured every noteworthy expression from last night. All excellent but the one of Marta and Ramon was my favorite.

"After Mig leaves, Lu turns to him and says the dreaded words that no man ever likes to hear: “David, you and I need to talk.” Perfect.

“[As I recall, Ramón wasn’t even involved.] “ Correct Cynthia. Ramon had nothing to do with Ingrid (am I recalling her name correctly?)

“Gut says, “Marta is mine!” My, my. And here, all this time, I was thinking Graciela was insane! Who IS Brian?? Is he human, a man who is trying to change, regretting his transgressions (deporting Marta’s family, deceiving her)? Is he the devil incarnate? Or lastly, is his character bearing the brunt of a weak writing team’s inability to decide themselves?? He was definitely Mr. Hyde last night, but who knows what will happen tomorrow.

"now everybody hates everybody" pretty much sums it up Kirby! I was sorry that Adolfo jumped into the fray, but he knows Erica has fretted about Luci since the beginning. Very unfortunate that Luci happened to be there.

Everyone who foresaw Erica's medical issues (what exactly they are, I'm unsure of) was right. I'm hoping this was just a wake up call for Miguel and that she will recover.

Random thoughts.I kept looking at David's hair, noting the blond highlights seemed conspicuously absent. I was wishing for more Sonia last night. I enjoyed her scene with David. I get the sense the two actors are comfortable with each other. I saw Luci bestow one of her hundred watt smiles. At Miguel. And while her one hand continually curls on the back of the man's shoulder, she hugged him tighter than she does David.

I keep hoping that one of these episodes will get me enthused, that I will have more than a polite interest in what occurs. But honestly? That only occurs when I read the wonderful recaps and insightful comments.

Thank you once again Cynthia. This was great.

Marta needs to look at that Hot vs Crazy Matrix for Women on You Tube. It applies to men too. Gut is way over in 'Cray Cray' land' It must have been written for DisGrace.

I have used it for years to navigate through all those chicken wing servers.

Diana: Luci and the lost Puppies: Last night when Dave showed up, normally the female will put a 'TAD' of distance between herself and the hug recipient, like gently move more by David's side, but Lu stayed and even had a hand on his shoulder at one point.

Dave is looking like a lovestruck old fool by this time. He needs to clear up all that corn-fusion on everyone's parts by shagging Disgrace at least once. THAT would help Lu make up her mind. It would help Fer too when DisGrace is wandering around the house raising her tail spraying all the furniture then.

But if Dave were to take my "Hit it and Quit it" advice, the first thing she should see after the event is her U-Haul in the driveway.

"Um, Daveed Honey, Last night was sooo wonderful, what does this mean? Sniff."
It means restraining order, Goodbye.

Kirby, David's dignity was missing last night. The angry, smoldering jealousy was off putting to me.

I have no idea if Luci's actions (or non actions) are intentional. Did she stay by Miguel's side to make a point, does she just not get it or has she (consciously or unconsciously) made her choice?

Diana

Kirby: Erika's lung problems coming up isn't good. We better start saying our prayers NOW!

Diana: Did you enjoy watching Marta telling Gutierrez to stick it ? She went beast-mode on his expletive. Gutierrez is an uppity SNOB thinking that Marta is his property.

Susanlynn: Roman wins the Marta Prize after Gutierrez went completely psycho!

Another excellent outing Cynthia and thank you for it

"“Yeah, sure, just talking…Please!"

We are right back where we were 20 episodes ago and an inseparable Miguel and Luciana pawing on each other daily. A roll in the barrels shortly to follow. It is clear who Luciana favors and if David didn't see it last night he's a bigger fool than the fool he is already.

I hate that Miguel got a sick rich doll to play with until he and the protag reunite. What is missing, the Will, in which she leaves him all or part of the vineyard. Lame.

I don't blame Adolfo he's not blind. He owes Miguel, and certainly Luciana, nothing.

Of course David has made it easy for Luciana by not removing Graciela and Lilian from the house.

Almost two months to go, there is still room for a lot to happen. As things are now I feel like I am watching a documentary on how a Slinky toy is built one loop by loop.

For almost everybody in the show to spend almost all their time trying to get laid, to the exclusion off work and almost all other everyday activities, these are the most unproductive nookie getters I have ever seen. If they all had even a 10% success rate they would make a rabbit farm look lazy. But as it is now, if all humanity were on their level, mankind would die out in two generations.

Note to Smuguel: Grampa looked for a strong healthy mate capable of producing many healthy free farm hands. (until they graduated)

Osprey with Fresh Catch

Tofie, she even let that little spaghetti strap fall off those bare shoulders at one time, then caught herself and repositioned it.

I'm telling you Dave, send her to therapy for that 'Rock' thing and DG may be about as good as it is going to get for your Dumb ass. They taught this one dog I had to not chase cars, anything is possible with the right therapist.

Tell her it will only work with you two if that MIL is gone. (Before Anti-Rock therapy)

Thank you so much, Cynthia. Whatever Uni's CC3 implementation is (I'm starting to think that they sometimes try to do it live) was massively forked up and behind last night.

That said...the permit thing apparently falling on David's head really really doesn't help his case in general, let alone as a galan. I still contend that the basic beats are/were somewhat handwave-able, but if there's one character on this show who absolutely doesn't need to look dumber than he already is...so of course between that and yet again freaking out over Miguel he does. Way to go, show.

OTOH, Magic Brian...he gets Ramon arrested and held without charges in his own office, overnight, and then (after Good Guy Ramon actually gets a modest bitchface going on and calls him on all this shirt) declares that Marta is "mine." This is the same guy who admittedly has been quietly pining for Marta since whatever relationship substitute they had imploded, but until this point he'd been with Lilian (until she broke up with him for the, what, third time now?) and just trying to help Marta here and there, if in his own weird way? And suddenly he's jealous enough to do this out of the blue? Even giving it points as the opening for Marta to apparently finally go off on him and turn the page on that story for good, it actually makes less sense than the permit thing. Basta, Skunk-head, basta.

On the other other hand: Adolfo freaking out on Miguel and Luciana and Sonia's subtle turn away from her crush on "mi senor," or rather now "Mr. David," were the nicest and sanest things in this episode. Particularly poor Adolfo, who basically got Vinedo de Competencia hamstrung--and his daughter as well--by these crazy-ass people from around the way.

Everywhere I ever worked you had a MagCard, TouchCode lock or a guard shack to get through to walk in.

Dave and Adolfo both need one of each.

Bill, CC3s here in Flor-I-Duh were from Mars too. I do not know why even when they are right, EVERY line has to have the show name or some permutation of it.

"I don't blame Adolfo he's not blind". tofie, between the no permit mess and his daughter's health, he did have a hell of a bad day. And granted, perhaps he is seeing Luci and Miguel's relationship more accurately than what I am rather refusing to.

"...and then (after Good Guy Ramon actually gets a modest bitchface going on". Too funny Bill.

Steve, I don't think there's any doubt that Marta is done with Brian. I think he finally got the message. However, I fear that won't stop him from stirring up even more trouble.

Diana

I enjoyed all the comments. I just read my own early comment. So sorry for all the typos. I had just gotten up , and I was evidently still half asleep. COffeeless. Apologies.

WEll, I have had my coffee now , and I have questions. First, what are these writers smoking , and are there any women writers on this team? The storyline makes no sense. I have no idea what kind of person Gut is supposed to be. Is he bipolar? Does he have a split personality ?

Kirby..I am enjoying your photos. I don't think that anyone monitors the avatars , so no worries about hall monitors.

The writers have made this galan so weak , needy, and oblivious. If he didn't have good workers , he might have lost the vineyard by now. After a few brief, , lucid moments after the afternoon of delight, he is now dazed and confused again . I am tired of looking at his sad, defeated face. Man up, Dave.

Ramon may not have GUt's biceps and massive ego, but he would make a good husband.

Susanlynn, I have openly declared my crush on Ramon. :)

I think he has expressive eyes and is quite handsome too. Good guy. The whole package.

Diana

Speaking of wardrobes, Luci's tops are changing. In the beginning, she was wearing the same plain solid colored blouse with a collar and 3\4 sleeves but in different jeweltone colors. Her tops gradually became more stylish. In the last two episodes , she appeared to be wearing a pale pink camisole that looked like lingerie.

Also, there are hugs, and there are hugs. The screen cap showed Luci giving Miguel a really warm hug. a much tighter hug than she ever gives DAve. Is the hug dependent on LUci or does it depend on the make she is hugging? Miguel is a much more enthusiastic hugger than laidback Dave. They are both much taller than LUci, and MIguel seems to lean down to embrace LUci , whereas LUci has to reach up to DAve. Just something I noticed as a little person.

Diana..Yes, Ramon is a good man, and he is attractive. I think that Marta could have a happy life with Ramon.

Don't know about the writing team but the director is Sandra Cortés so you would think she'd have a say in what is said and done.

Diana, I keep twisting logic in knots to support what I want to see but at a point have to believe my eyes. When David happened upon Luciana and Miguel in embrace, her debbie downer facial expression said it all. Like damn, dad just had to come and spoil it. This can't be only bad acting. Before Miguel and Luciana were inseparable and in each others arms and face and she didn't care who saw and we're right back there.

Sue I don't want my Avatars to distract from this spellbinding story.
Thanks

I don't know what to make of Luci and David. Is there some un advertised friction between the two on set or is what we are seeing what we are supposed to be seeing?

I've known a lot of guys like Dave and SiezeHer whose brains turn to mush around a really pretty girl/woman when in actuality they are as nice looking for a man as she is for a woman. I used to tell those fellows 'Just remember, she uses the bathroom substantially just like you do. Chill, and she might like you."

Gut and Lillian deserve each other. As a matter of fact, they are a perfect match. Hook up you two and crank out a couple of tricycle demons.

True tofie.

I think I keep harkening back to what I perceive is the likely outcome - Dave and Luci together. I just can't quite stray from that. Yet.

I believe (and please correct me if I am wrong) that often times the opening (or mid episode) credits change mid or end stream to more accurately reflect the growing closeness of the lead couple. I'll be darned but I can't think of a specific one at the moment, but in the past, this has definitely occurred. Even they still lack any semblance of physical passion or even the idea of romantic coupling.

I don't think I've ever seen any TN when I've been less enthused as to whether or not they end up together. Actually, it might not matter so much if there were even one engrossing storyline, but nothing has me riveted here.

Diana

That cava seems to be some kind of vortex. Nobody can be in there alone . Someone else is always pulled into the cava.

Kirby..Yes, I have seen guys smitten by pretty girls. In fact, this weekend hubba and I are going to a concert with some people we went to high school with. One couple from our high school days could have their story in a telenovela. The rumor was that they broke up, and he shot himself but survived. They married and had two children. I have not seen them in awhile, but they have been married for a long time. Truth is often stranger than fiction. Just take notes on the people around you , and you can write a telenovela much better than this one. Love and life is strange. I have also seen people carry a torch for someone for a long, long time.

Diana..Yes,I agree. The leading actress and the leading actor almost always end up together. Unlike, GAme of Thrones that has so many shocking twists and turns , I think that Luci and Dave are supposed to be endgame. Disgraceful will be dead, in jail, or in a mental institution. Juan and Marked are dead or in jail. SUsan and CEsar are married and maybe pregnant. Fer somehow manages to grow up and go to college with TAno. Sonia gets her CHubby , and they become writing partners churning out successful bodice rippers under the pseudonym Analisa Amor. Marta and Ramon marry. But what will happen to LIlian and GUt?

Kirby..I do not know how to make an avatar. Is it hard to do?

Big difference if this TN had sold two outcomes but they haven't. What we have is an assumption based on the opening credits to support David and Luciana and one afternoon naked. The one they have sold successfully is the very apparent emotional and physical attraction between Luciana and Miguel along with a shared history and future plans.

Marta and Graciela were against David and Luciana, so what. Miguel was against David and Luciana and Luciana went out of her way to shield Miguel from proof anything transpired other than a kiss. Miguel started sleeping with his bosses daughter, so what. Miguel and Luciana have kept tabs on each other and soon as Luciana broke up with David the most animated we see her is declaring to both David and Erika she's always gonna be in Miguel's life and screw you if you don't like.

"Grandpa Dave" is a perfect way to describe our inept galan. The writers are not just smoking something, but drinking at a bar laughing and jotting down ideas while partying.

So why does Brian always have his hands on his gun belt? It really does make him look like he is going to begin some kind of dance and start pulling things off. I think there is a boom box hidden under his desk.

L. Linda

OT warning. An avatar is typically just a very shrunk picture where it loses a lot of detail. Like the Favicons which are a representation of Blogger or Ebay or any other web site. But on Google blog, the Avatar you see is shrunk by google and is a thumbnail of a real picture. It looks like you do not log into Caray via Google, so to make an Avatar like some of the people use you need a graphics program of some sort to resize the picture. I have not really looked at Google Blogger, but I suspect that is how it is done. One of the recappers should know.

There are a lot of free picture resizers to download and use to create and avatar. On mine I think if you click on mine it takes you to me on Google+. There if you click on the same picture again, it blows up the full size picture. I went into Chrome incognito mode so it would not know it was me and tried it and it worked.

Lurker ! I thought the same thing a few episodes back with Gut. I just keep waiting for "You can keep your hat on" by Joe Cocker from 9 1/2 weeks to start playing and him to start it up. And he has the look with the artificially tight sewn up shirt sleeves to make his arms look bigger.

Thanks, Cynthia. As always, your screencaps are worth a thousand words. Look at that big smile on Luci's face when she's hugging Miguel. That would have been enough to ruin David's day.

Poor Joselo. He still thinks he's dealing with a normal human being. Funny that Grace thought there was a snowball's chance in hell that David would ditch the wine contest to go to her exhibit.

"Lilian becomes LIVID and says, “Over my dead body!" Heh, from your lips to God's ears.

Okay, Gut. WTF. He was out of control. I didn't think he was like that. It was as if he had morphed into a different person. Not just because of the abuse of power, which I had thought was beneath him, but that dumb outburst at Ramon as well. (Would that make him a mighty morphin' power player?) I wish Marta would have asked him why, if he wants her so much, did he keep dating Lil. I mean, if he was really trying to win Marta back, he could not have made a worse choice.

"Lu and León discuss whether or not they think Ramón is in love with their mom." Boy, are these kids inexperienced! He worships the dust that falls from her shoes.

I don't think they've ever said what Erica's mysterious lung illness is. I haven't heard the word "asthma" at all. Perhaps they're trying to avoid us picking apart their diagnosis when they start taking artistic liberties with it.

Re the hot vs crazy matrix, coincidentally I saw the hot vs crazy episode of How I Met Your Mother last night.

Tofie: "Big difference if this TN had sold two outcomes but they haven't." I agree. They haven't even sold one outcome, in my opinion. Based on Luci's behavior thus far, I'm not convinced that she belongs with either of those guys. Her body language says she prefers Miguel, but her actions point towards David. That's a problematic conflict.

OT I don't remember exactly how I did my avatar. I was in my google profile and I uploaded a picture... not sure what file format (jpg, png, etc.) it was. I had already cropped it to a square shape in Microsoft Office Picture Manager, and Google must have resized it.

Oh Julie and Sue, Julie you are on Google so all you did was go into your Google profile and select "profile picture' and select one or drag one and Google resizes it and lets you move the square around (Most pictures are not square) to get the best portion of your picture in the square part which will show.

Sue does not log in via Google so she will have a horse of a different colour. and I am not sure exactly how it is done.

Like this !

Good work, Cynthia.

How in hell can DisGrace even think that her exhibition would take priority over David's wine competition? Winning that competition could make him very wealthy for years if the crop survives to harvest time and the wine becomes popular. She still has an investment in that, doesn't she? Stupid, narcissistic bimbo. Not to mention Succubus.

After this incident with Ramon and Tano getting worried and FerBrat wanting to get involved, who wants to bet that she won't pass those exams? And when is anybody going to rat out the succubi who want to get rid of Bobby at first opportunity?

As to "Hit It and Quit It", that would be the worst mistake of David's life. He'd never be able to get rid of DisGrace if he did that.

As to Adolfo's knee-jerk reaction, I think we can blame Lillian for dropping poison in his ear about Luciana and Miguel.

Urban said: " would be the worst mistake of David's life. He'd never be able" I wholeheartrdly agree, it would fit in this show perfectly. :-)

DOGGIE!!!

My alter Ego. Woof !

I was thinking that Fernanda probably will pass her exams, so Disgrace will try to create a new crisis as an excuse to stay... even if she has to dose the girl herself.

I can see Fer not passing her exams because she was so wrapped up in everything else around her. Way too many distractions. But why didn't David enroll her in an SAT preparation course? I sent my kids to SAT prep courses and they took practice SATs and passed theirs very well, I might add. Good parents send their kids to these classes, but I guess in TN land, they are oblivious to such things. Of course they have to make a story about it..If it turns out that Fer doesn't pass, then what? Will she be sent to community college with Tano? Then the thing about Fer not doing well in math...good grief, Dave, can't you hire a math tutor for her? When my daughter was having trouble with trigonometry, I hired a math tutor. I am sure David has enough money to fork out for a math tutor.

Oh...she needs to go away and get far away from this mess. She would be so much better off away from Auntie DisGrace.

This thing about the exams has nothing to do with real life, so I don't know what the consequences will be if she fails. Apparently, though, they are unthinkable. Do they think Fernanda's life will be ruined and she will have to get a job as a stripper? (She'll need to work on her personality.) They have never heard of a kid starting college a year or two after graduating high school? This is such a non-crisis.

As for college entrance exams such as the SAT, a higher score will probably ensure a student’s choice of colleges. Many colleges will not accept a student below a certain score. I know the UCs do not accept below a certain score. All the good schools require a decent SAT score to be accepted. If you want a good prestigious school, then you need a high SAT score, a high GPA, and community service. My daughter was accepted at UC Santa Barbara and a good private liberal arts college in San Diego. She chose UC Santa Barbara and graduated from there. If you want to go to graduate school, then you must take the GRE exam. She did well on that one, went to medical school and now she is a doctor of audiology. If she had not done well on her exams, would she be a doctor today? Probably not. Her life would not be in ruins, but she certainly wouldn’t be making the money she is today. I think that is why David is so focused on Fernanda doing well, so she can get into a good college and graduate. Maybe she won’t want to work the family business, maybe she will want to be a doctor or lawyer. No parent wants to see their kids stuck working in a lame go nowhere job.

Fer's test: Derivatives? Please, Fer would have to cheat to do the multiplication tables.

I am surprised Gracie didn't jump in there on Limits as x approaches zero too. Yikes,

Oh, I understand the importance of the SAT. But I took it much, much earlier than the end of my senior year. (In fact, I think I took it in my junior year.)

AND... if I had done poorly on my SATs, I could have taken some SAT prep courses and taken the test again. Some of my classmates did that. It may have been expensive and inconvenient, but really not a big deal.

And I'm sure she's not taking a GRE.

Maybe she is taking AP exams. Those are done in May (by which time she should already have been accepted by some university) and they might even include derivatives. But even if she flunked every AP exam she took, it would not harm her chances of going to a good school. It would just mean she didn't get to skip any of the 101 and 102 courses.

So, again, I don't know what kind of tests these are, but flunking them will not prevent her from becoming a rocket surgeon.

And those rocket sturgeons are getting scarce. :-)

It appears the thing FerBrat is MOST interested in right now is helping Tano deflower her.

Tano you better do it right too or there will be hell to pay. Maybe a refresher course for Tano from Soo-San.?

Purely academic mind you.

Onward. You know if Gutless wants to be a real stick about it, as the Sheriff, he can be a major pain in the ass for that whole vineyard. A county sheriff has to really put out an effort before he can be reined in by local judges or a recall election. Enough latitude, I would say, to ruin the day or month for David and company.

Julie, my kids also took the AP exams. But from what I am understanding on this show, it seems that they are referring to college entrance exams, like the SAT. Yes, SATs are taken much earlier than the senior year because you want to have your scores ready to start applying to colleges in your senior year. Most colleges have early acceptance packages in the fall, and the rest you apply starting in January and you get your acceptances by March or the latest April. Most colleges have a "first week of May" deadline for the offer. And if you are wait-listed, what a waste of time sometimes trying to figure out what to do. Thankfully, my kids never got wait listed. But yeah, if you don't do so well on the SATs, you can take them several times during your Junior year.

At the worst, Fer can go to community college with Tano and transfer to a good school later if she keeps her grades up.

I am thinking, though, that if Fer had so much trouble in high school, and needs to be nagged in order to study, she's going to have a very bumpy ride in college.

Julie, yes, nothing Brian has said or done makes sense. I would imagine it is hard for him to get in character as I'm fairly certain he doesn't even know what that is day to day!

From one end of the spectrum to the other in 24 hours flat.

Some years ago I did a recap that was all personal diary entries from the various characters. It was fun to do. I've always wanted to do another one like that, but haven't been able to, because in every TN I've watched since then, the characters were either too mysterious (for suspense) or else too inconsistent/poorly defined to even venture a guess as to what they were thinking.

Especially Vino el Amor.

I could do a diary entry for Disgrace, though:

David David David DavidDavidDaviddaviddaviddddd REDRUM REDRUM REDRUM all work and no play makes Gracie a dull girl. David David David rock smashes scissors rock smashes paper rock smashes Lisa REDRUM REDRUM david david david david sleepy now.

Up until this and two episodes ago, IMO, Magic Brian was generally consistent. A dog, absolutely, but consistent (apparently FWBs with Lilian before he started courting Marta, still macking Lilian on the DL to keep his political campaign going and back with her once Marta found out what he did, but still gently trying to make amends with Marta in his own goofy way). His swerve towards jealous man-biatch, let alone openly abusing his power, indeed came out of forking nowhere and still makes no sense unless it's his way of coping with not having a convenient source of nookie at all for the first time in this fakakta show...

Wow, you guys have been chatty while I was away, and let me just state that I was only responsible for one of those off topics..avatars.

Julie and Kirby, thanks for the instruction. I have no idea what you are talking about, but I will show your comments to my tech support person.. Hubba, who somehow put a little box on my IPad screen that I tap and magically end up on the Carey patio. I also call him when the cable goes off . He also is my teaching administrative assistant who records my grades and sends them and types up my syllabi.

"REDRUM" just made me laugh out loud Julie!

(Appreciative) Diana

Didn't the guy playing Brian get an award for his performance? Que?

As to college, I know that Dave is a rich guy currently experiencing a little cash flow problemo. Colleges in the U.S. have become so expensive that many people try to earn athletic or merit scholarships. Community college is a great way to save money . With two years at community college at low cost, the student can transfer to a four year college and graduate with a degree from that school. Both of my daughters were valedictorians and received good scholarships . My friend's son got a full scholarship for baseball at a big college in Washington D.C. The state schools and even the community colleges here in my area are experiencing dropping enrollments. It seems as though the idea of everyone going to college is changing. In my area, kids often graduate from college with huge student loan debt and sometimes have difficulty finding jobs in their fields. It is a strange time. Luckily, my daughters had very small loans , and they found fulltime jobs right after they graduated . My daughter with the math\computer science degree had multiple offers.

We've got REDRUM, Avatars, Sat scores, Derivatives and the smell of Doritos wafting through the air. You could show us an episode of Howdy Doody and we would have fun while we are supposed to be working. Just Sayin............

Julie...that about says it all. Does anyone remember a recapper who used to use the phrase "Mafia's lines" "Juan's lines" etc. When the storyline got repetitive?

I remember that, Susanlynn... I don't remember who started it or in what TN, but it caught on fast.

On a slightly related note, I think "Patio" may have been coined by K. I wasn't involved in whatever recaps or whatever where it first showed up, but I know that K was either the leader or heavily involved.

Thanks, Cynthia. Great job.

Marta surprised me by not going all boo-hoo-hoo!!! and instead calmly bringing Ramón his green card. The whole setup was so stupid, but I did enjoy Marta being there for Ramón right after Gut said she wouldn’t be. I like Ramón’s quiet intensity.

Poor Erica. The one time we see Miguel in her bedroom it’s because her lung illness resurfaces. ITA with those on the patio who believe this is how Miguel will inherit his vino acres. Rats.

Or lastly, is his character bearing the brunt of a weak writing team’s inability to decide themselves??

Diana, I vote weak writing team. There is nothing whatsoever believable about the Gut character, and they didn't even take the time to show him shirtless enough. I do hope the town gets a new sheriff by the gran final.

I’m giving Adolfo a pass because he’s been so patient with Erica’s jealously about Luciana. It wasn’t fair, but he had to explode sometime. Plus, I have a theory that he’s known all along there’s a high chance his sweet daughter won’t have a long life and that’s why he’s indulged her so.

Dang, David started the show incompetent – no papers for his right-hand man – and he’s closing it out incompetent – no papers for the construction. I just can’t blame Luciana for holding him a bay. Hombre, do something to prove yourself worthy.

After the gran final, if anyone saw the original Chilean version I'd like to hear a comparison between the lead couples.

Well, at least we found out that Erica does indeed have a bedroom (a very frilly, little girl one) and has not been sleeping on the sofa or in a sleeping bag in the multipurpose room.

I got the low-down on the testing thing being done in the senior year for Fer. I asked my friend who is from Mexico about this. It seems that in Mexico, all the university entrance exam testing is done during the last year of high school. It's a long and detailed process. So for this TN, instead of showing it the way it would be done in the USA, they are showing the process as though it were being done in Mexico.

Julie..I cannot remember who coined "the patio" . I know that Novelamaven and Elna June got very creative for awhile. There was a whole thing about avocados for a telenovela I couldn't stand and dropped out of early.

Thanks, Cynthia. So that's why there's so much pressure.

It still seems a little strange to me that a girl who's taking calculus in high school could be at risk of not getting into a good college. I may be wrong, but I don't think most high school students take calculus. Even if she's bad at it, she's probably still a fairly competitive student. (And I'm impressed that David remembers how to do derivatives. Has he been practicing? Is that part of running a vineyard?)

Avocados? I must have missed that.

Julie...Both my daughters took calculus as an AP course in high school. It was not offered in that same high school when I went there , but I did take algebra, advanced algebra, trig, and geometry on the academic track. They have really changed the way that they teach math in the last few years. It seems worse than the old new math that was taught some years ago. It is very confusing to me. I guess they are trying something new because we are lagging behind in the STEM subjects in the U.S.

On thing that hasn't been mentioned is that Juan has been "cooking the books" for many years to accumulate money for his olive grove purchase. Now that Dave is apparently looking at all the account records, why hasn't he caught this? Or hired a skilled accountant to look over all the vineyard financial records? Surely, Dave could find the wrong numbers and use this information to file criminal charges against smirking Juan.

Julie, you never know about Dave! He could be doing business forecasting on the vineyard using calculus formulas. ;) And then again, some people are really good at math. I'm not so good, I rely on formulas from Excel. :))

If Fer is taking calculus right now, these problems should be no sweat for her, since it still should be fresh.

Niecie, I tried watching the Chilean version, but I didn't get more into it than a couple of episodes. I found Chilean Spanish very difficult to understand. Spanish spoken by Mexicans is so much clearer!

I want David to give Sonia a look. Sorry Leon but Sonia would be good for David. She's smart, well spoken, quirky and clever to stave off boredom, she could easily manage the household and vineyard operations and finance, both Bobby and Fernanda warmed to her without much effort, probably a tigress in San Francisco, has eyes only for David and so long as you keep her away from alcohol would be an asset in a social setting.

Gobluefan from OH: I can't wait for David to hire a CPA to go through those books and do a real audit!

And with Sonia if things ever got a little boring, break out a bottle of Captain Morgan and fasten your seat belt. She would be great for David, but jealous as he is I hope he never sees those pictures she has on Google.

Tofie..yes, I agree. Sonia would be an interesting partner for anyone. She could spice up Dave's life, and I think that she is smarter than Dave . Then again, let's face it, Dave has set that smart bar pretty low.

How did Erika miraculously get from the MPR to her bedroom? Did big boy just hoist her like a sack of grapes and carry her over there wherever it is?

Kirby: I think Erica's bedroom is right behind the MPR.

She is way smarter than David. You think she would have missed you need a permit to build an irrigation system like David, Miguel and Luciana did? She'd crack that whip and make him study.

Gobluefan: I think Juan took the financial records with him (or destroyed them). I don't think David has them.

Yes, I forgot about all the money that Juan has embezzled. As our daughter tells Hubba, "accounting isn't math." Accountants have to be very detailed oriented and patient. Dave had better have an audit done immediately.

If Erika's bedroom is that close to the MPR, why have they been abusing the sofa?? I mean up to this point I thought they couldn't afford to build a set for her bedroom.

Julie: Maybe Erika was hoping Luciana would walk in. ;)

Thanks, Cynthia!

You guys are on a roll and I'm feeling tired today. Carry on!

Lila...hope that you can relax a little and watch tonight's episode. I just got home , and I am happy to be finally sitting on my own sofa. If I had a glass of vino, I would drink it during the telenovela. Let the madness begin again.

Oh..I forgot to mention my very favorite scene. I loved when Dave left the office, and Disgrace went all hissy fit and knocked stuff off the desk. But then..Dave walked back into the office. I was hoping he would finally catch one of Disgracie's signature tantrums, but he didn't nor did he notice the stuff on the floor. Darn.

Thanks, Susanlynn! Yeah, I'm cozying in for the evening.

That WAS a cute scene with David. It surprised me, it was out of the usual rut of David's line, Gracie flutters and grabs. . .

Niecie, "There is nothing whatsoever believable about the Gut character, and they didn't even take the time to show him shirtless enough".

HA! Why of course!! That's it!!! Forget about the dialog, they didn't even take the time to give us anything to look at while he was flip flopping and nattering on and on about this, that, and everything in between...

:) Diana
