Vino el Amor #84; Wednesday March 1, 2017: With family like this, who needs enemies?

Repeated scene: Juan gets thrown out of Bodega de Los Angeles and Ramón and Tano are assigned to get Juan’s things out.

Sonia breaks the news to Lilian and Grace that David threw Juan out. Grace tells Sonia to get out, then Lil tries to call Juan and leaves a voicemail for him. Lil and DisGrace argue about how this must be Grace’s fault. Lil says to DisGrace, “This wouldn’t have happened if you had been able to buy that land!

David with Luciana is lamenting how he ever could have trusted Juan. He says that all these years he felt sorry for Juan and felt responsible for him and this is how Juan repays him! Juan is just an unhappy ingrate! David hugs Luciana and thanks her for listening to him.

Lu calls Miguel and tells him about what happened with Juan and how Juan wanted to ruin David. Mig says he told Dave many times not to trust Juan. But, Luciana says, “I think Juan might come after you.” Mig says, “No problem, I’m ready to take him on.” Lu says, “With that attitude, you worry me even more!” Mig tells Lu that he’s already related everything to the police detective everything that we suspected regarding Juan. Now maybe David can confirm all of what we suspected. Mig at first is thinking that Juan may try to take off far away. But Lu tells him the news. “No, he won’t be going far. He bought the olive tree orchard next door.” Mig says, “What? Are you serious?” “Yes, I’m serious because Juan won the bid for the olive orchard that was for sale that David tried to buy.” Mig say, “Thanks for calling and take care now.”

Erica and her dad walk in and Mig gives them the news that Juan is a traitor who bought the olive tree orchard. Adolfo says that he feels badly for David, as Juan was the vineyard administrator. He also wants Miguel to know that although he’s the vineyard chief, Adolfo respects and trusts him. Mig should feel protected from whatever happens there.

Leon comes into the employees’ house to find Carito crying. She tells him that Perla is leaving with Juan and now she feels more alone than ever, since Perla was like a sister to her. León takes her into his arms to comfort her, but then Sonia walks in and thinks something is going on with them and becomes jealous. “Well excuse me” says Sonia. “Sorry for interrupting. I just came to leave tomorrow’s work orders.” She says to Carito, “Whatever León is promising you, don’t believe him. He’s that way with all the girls.”

Ding dong! Lil and DisGrace show up at Juan’s door. Juan opens the door and Lil is shocked to see that he’s been in a fight. Juan says, “So what are you doing here? I didn’t really want to see you both.” Lil answers, “Relax Juan, we came to see how you were and what happened to you” Juan responds, “I had a fight with David and he told me to leave. Well, I’m glad that you are so worried about me, so goodbye, thanks but no thanks.” He begins to close the door but DisGrace stops him. She says, “Well we had a deal going, didn’t we?” Juan says, “No that deal no longer exists. It’s now everyone for themselves. I just don’t need you both anymore.” But Lil says, “Tell us what we need to do so that we can continue with what we were doing together.” So Juan says, “Well that all depends on what you are willing to pay for my silence.” DisGrace then asks, “So to what are you referring?” “Well for starters”, says Juan, “you can give to me what you were going to pay for the olive orchard. Or I’ll just tell David all about your conspiracies to get him.” DisGrace says, “You’re crazy, Juan.” But he responds, “Oh no…I’m in control now. You don’t have to agree with me about this.” DisGrace tries to protest and says, “Do you know how much money you are talking about?” Juan arrogantly tells her, “NOTHING compared to what you will LOSE if I tell David what you have been up to!” Lilian tries to tell him that they have complied with everything he has asked of them. But Juan says, “No you haven’t! All you have done is fight with Marta over your silly jealousies. And you Grace, all you do is fret about whether Luciana will win David over you. I was the stupid one for getting involved with you broads. Things are going to get bad for you and when it all ends, it’s all going to end very badly for you!” (Sounds like one of those Biblical prophecies to me! Their Karmageddon is coming one day! LOL!) DisGrace thinks she can talk to Juan alone about all this, but Lil won’t allow it. DisGrace says, “So what if I tell David that you’ve been stealing from him all these years?” Juan says, “So what? You can’t prove it! Now just get the money ready for me and leave me in peace. Now if you’ll both excuse me….” Juan then shuts the door on their faces.

DisGrace and Lil get back to the house to discuss their next moves.

Cesar is over at David’s house and says, “Well I always knew that Juan was crazy, but I never knew he was this crazy.” David says he never knew when things started to change between him and Juan and he should have paid attention to Susan and Miguel when they tried to bring things to his attention regarding Juan. Cesar says, “Well he had been your best friend, you had worked together for many years, you had a strong relationship.” David says, “It was all lies! All this time he was just envious of what I had.” Cesar responds, “Well now he is out of your life, out of the vineyard and out of your business.” Dave says, “No so fast, Cesar. Guess what happened? Juan bought the olive tree orchard next door. He’s also declared war on me.” Cesar says, “Well how about that? I have no doubt that Juan is involved in a lot of other dirty things.” Dave says, “Yea, like where did he suddenly get all this money to buy that property?” Cesar points out too that Susan and Mig think that Juan was responsible for ruining all that wine and if he’s able to do that, what else is he capable of doing?” Dave says, “Exactly, now I’m going to tell the police detective everything that I suspect about Juan.” “Well done” says Cesar.

That night Cesar is outside on the phone with the lawyer for Susan regarding Mark’s release from jail. He gives Susan that confirmation that he was released a few weeks ago. Susan is very upset because she was not told. Cesar explains that the lawyer was out of the country and just came back. He just found out about it himself. Susan is upset, but then they change the subject to David’s problems with Juan. Cesar says that he’s warned David many times, but David hasn’t listened and always defended Juan. Susan says, “Don’t feel badly. You have been a good friend and it’s just good that Juan is the one who is now gone.” Cesar is in agreement.

Mig and Erica discuss the win competition and how they are looking forward to winning. They get back to work.

In the morning, Dave, Lu, and Susan are going through invoices and paperwork leftover from Juan. (I don’t know why this stuff isn’t all input in the computer system, what a mess! Don’t they use Quickbooks or something?). They decide they plan of action with running the vineyard businesswise, with ordering supplies and such. Susan knows where they can get a good outside lawyer. David says they are notifying everyone that Juan no longer works there. Susan finds some paperwork that shows a lot of inconsistencies with some unknown providers. David is about to kick himself because he should have listened to everyone who was warning him. Susan leaves to go get coffee and he and Luciana talk. She reminds him of what he said, “Together, they are stronger and come out ahead.”

Next morning Mig and Erica are “working” but they look more like they are flirting. They discuss a little about Juan and David, but Erica says, “You are very noble, and you are not part of them anymore. But you always act like you are stuck there. You speak with such nostalgia and all, it makes me feel badly.”

Lil drops by to visit Gut at his office. He wants to talk about their problems and he says he’s not afraid of Adolfo. Lil says she wants to be his priority and he promises not to stand her up again and invites her to another event. (Gag!) She’s giving him another chance.

As Gut and Lil are leaving his office, a bunch of reporters surround them asking him about “raids” on immigrants. Gut begins to answer, but Lil pipes up and says, “Illegal aliens don’t deserve any better treatment than they get!” Then she says she’s the sheriff’s girlfriend, Lilian Smith. The reporters ask if he agrees with his girlfriend and Gut says no, he’s working for everyone and there is classified information. Then Lil points to the cameraman and says, “Are YOU legal?” Gut whisks Lil away and you can hear the clatter of her heels. Gut is pretty upset and tells Lil to never do that again. But Lil says, “Why not? It’s the truth. And don’t forget who put you here.” (Arrogant, isn’t she?) Gut says he’s there because of his work and is not going to risk his job because of her racist remarks.” Lil leaves, says she’s not going to the event and to go look for Marta instead.

Back at Juan’s place, Mark says that he would have given anything to see how Dave looked when he got the news. They discuss that they can’t use the illegals to work the land. But Juan’s idea is to “work Gutierrez, to be free of all suspicion.”

Lu finds DisGrace in the patio painting. She confronts her about his manipulating Bobby and now must face the consequences. But DisGrace says, “Listen to me! Who are YOU to say anything to me? You are no one to be in the middle of my family stuff.” Lu says, “Well you’d just better be careful about what you do with the children and what you say. Don’t pit them against their father’s wishes.” DisGrace says, “Yeah and all you want to do is to get close to David yourself!” So Lu tells her, “And if that’s the way it is, then what of it?” DisGrace was not happy to hear that and so she calls Lu a hypocrite. But Lu says, “No, no, YOU are the hypocrite because you are manipulating the children because you want to be with David. All you want to do is ruin the relationship the children have with their father.” DisGrace pulls the “Tía” card and tells her that she is just a lowly employee and NOTHING to anyone. DisGrace turns her back and returns to her painting.

Miggy comes to visit Dave in his office to talk to him about what happened with Juan and to say how sorry he is to hear it happened. He came to offer all his support to try to prove that Juan was behind a lot of the stuff that happened. Together they can prove that Juan did those things and send him to prison! Miguel and Dave shake hands and discuss a plan. Miguel ends by telling David he still has a lot of love for that land and even though things didn’t work out with Lu, he has no regrets.

Later at Juan’s apartment, he tells Perla that DisGrace has paid him they money and now he has money to pay off creditors or do what he wants with it. Perla asks if she can ask Carito to join them, but Juan says no. Perla says, “I sort of promised her, I just can’t leave her alone.” Juan still says no and gives a bunch of excuses. (Of course we know that it’s because he’s hiding his criminal activities).

Tano and Fer are outside talking about Juan. Fer can’t believe all that happened, but she has never liked Juan anyway. He gets up, says he has a lot of work to do. She asks if she can help him work because she’s been studying a long time and needs to do something else and misses him. So they go off together.

Later DisGrace and Dave are talking in his office. He asks if she ever heard Juan say anything against him. “Did he ever tell you he was interested in purchasing that olive tree property?” DisGrace puts on her best innocent look and says that Juan never said a word to her. Then she comes out with a cock and bull story about how Juan was jealous of Dave from their university days because Juan was in love with Lisa, but Lisa was in love with David. (Don’t we remember that story differently? Wasn’t Juan in love with Grace, but Grace was in love with David?) Anyway, she goes on to say that then Juan’s father died and it was one thing after another with Juan. She goes on to tell him that his family will never be traitors and they are the ones who love and worry about you. “Now I’m so glad you are not mad at me anymore”, says DisGrace. David says, “Right. I am no longer angry with you.”

In the patio, Marta brings Lil her coffee and turns to walk away. Lil says, “Hey, I haven’t dismissed you yet!” Marta turns back and asks, “What do you need?” So Lil asks her about Gutierrez and how she felt about Gutierrez and his doings. Marta says, “Look, I’m just not interested. It’s his job to protect citizens and the immigrants. Latinos are a big part of this community.” Then Lil tells her, “Well I’m telling you that everything you have struggled for, you will lose.” Marta asks, “Why is it you keep asking about Gutierrez, when you have been out and about with Adolfo Balleteros? Is all you want to do is to cause jealousies with them? After this is all over, it’s going to be pretty funny.”

Downtown, Susan and Lu discuss what she told DisGrace. Susan wants to know if she has told David yet, but Lu doesn’t yet want to bother him with that yet. Lu asks if she is feeling more relaxed about the Mark situation. Susan says that Cesar is helping her a lot with that. He understands her and is worried for her. Lu says, “Well this is looking like something more.” Cesar walks up and Lu says, “Well I leave you in good hands.” Cesar says, “what was all that about?” Susan says, “Well since she’s in love, she wants everyone to do the same.” Cesar looks like he is in agreement with that idea.

Tano and Fer come back from working together in the vineyard. She kisses him before she goes back to her studies.

In the kitchen, Marta answers her phone. It’s Gut who says he misses her, but she will have no part of it. He wants to win her love back. Marta says, “Don’t call me again!”

Last, DisGrace and Lil are in the patio talking and DisGrace says she gave her deposit to Juan. Lil says to stop complaining, “don’t you still have all that money you got from your art exhibit? What you have to think about now is how you are going to end up with David. We have to plan this out well with no mistakes.” DisGrace says, “Well at least David is no longer mad at me.” Lil responds, “Listen to me now, everything now has to be well planned out and calculated. There is no room for mistakes! I’m not going to risk my future over your impulsive behavior.” Grace says, “I don’t know what we are going to do. Luciana already talked me about how I’m manipulating the children. Now it looks clear to me that she does have something going on with David. (She looks worried.)

David walks up and says, “Grace, we need to talk.” Lil says, “I’ll take leave of you both.” She hypocritically tries to be sympathetic about Juan’s traitorous behavior. (This pot is calling the kettle black again!) She goes on, “For this reason, you just have to be careful who you let in to our family.” (Well with family like this, who needs enemies when the enemies are members of your own household, David!) Lil walks away and Grace says, “What did you want to talk about?” David says, “I received back my money from Mr. Kent and I now have the cash to buy you out of partnership we shared. I am now dissolving our partnership.” DisGrace does not look like a happy camper!

Thank you,Cynthia, for that detailed recap.

What is up with GUt? Now he has decided to try to get back with Marta because Lilian is not cooperating. I do not get it.

Poor DAve , living in that nest of vipers and clueless about Disgraceful and Lilian just as he was clueless about his bff until Juan got right in his face (and fists) and spelled things out for him.

Luci has to be careful about confronting DIsgrace while she is holding a weapon , I.e. rock, paintbrush, . Disgrace is becoming more and more desperate as Mommy Dearest pushes her harder and harder.

That house call that Lilian and Disgrace made to confront Juan did not go well.

Susanlynn: I don't get Gutierrez either: he needs to pick one woman & STICK TO IT!

Cynthia: Luciana better watch herself!!!!! Graciela could've bashed her head with a brick or crowbar.

Good morning Cynthia, Susanlynn and Steve.

Outstanding summary Cynthia! Your dialogue translations and screen shots were fantastic. Thank you so much for wry lines such as "Lil says she wants to be his priority and he promises not to stand her up again and invites her to another event. (Gag!)". Perfect!

Early on, when Adolfo was trying to woo Lucia to work for him, I had a feeling Adolfo had some sort of grudge against David. That seems to have dissipated as he seemed genuinely concerned for Miguel last night and hasn’t given any indication he is (also) seeking some type of revenge.

My absolute favorite scene of the night was that after a sound scolding by Sonia, Carito leaned right back into Leon for a hug which he immediately reciprocated with a bit of a kiss to her head with a somewhat wary eye cast toward the door. Again, I have no idea where the Leon/Sonia relationship is heading, but I am enjoying the journey.

What I am NOT enjoying is Brian. This man is changing directions faster than a speedometer. Lili. Marta. Lili. Whoa! Pick a lane, son. Not that we really care though, right?? He is just annoying at this point. The only reason I can still see him in the story is that he might sacrifice himself to save someone else (speculation only).

"You speak with such nostalgia and all, it makes me feel badly.” Ummm, Erica, Miguel spent his entire life with people he misses. He has only been with you for what, 5 minutes? Patience. Patience.

Grace seemed oddly calm about Juan’s blackmail and having to pay the money. She seemed to have capitulated rather easily. I thought surely she would go into a tailspin. But she has her eyes fixed on the “prize”, David, so she continues undaunted. Susanlynn and Steve, I think she'll set her sights on Luci who seems a threatening target. I'm surprised she hasn't confronted her about being David's new novia.

Just wait until Marky Mark is revealed as co-owner. If David was angry before...

And best kiss so far? Fer and Tano. Geez....

Cynthia, thank you for all your time and effort in contributing so much here.

Diana

Good Morning, Cynthia, Diana and Steve.

I think that SOnia and Lioncub will end up together, but the writers want to keep us guessing. I don't like Carito cuddling up to LEon now that Carito has lost her bff Perla and realizes that she does not have a chance with Miguel.

Juan warned Marked to stay away from Susan, but when has arrogant Marked ever listened to anyone?

What does JUan plan to do with GUt..Bribe him? Right now, Juan seems to be feeling large and in charge. Miguel seems to be out of danger from Juan and Marked at the moment. maybe we will have a tag team match at the end..DAVE AND Miguel vs Juan and Marked.... followed by a double wedding of besties Dave and LUci and Seize her and Soosan.

Well, at least Disgrace can take some of her fury out on her canvases. I wonder if she is using lots of red in her paintings lately.

I keep watching the credits for a "Cosmetics by Mabeline"... or Rustoleum.

Susanlynn, you pointed out Mark's Achilles heel. Susan. I have a feeling his obsession and inability to stay away from her will be a big factor in his downfall.

Does Juan have anything on Gut? I don't know. But he seems pretty confident he can manipulate him.

Diana

Thank you Cynthia. Only caught the last 5 minutes but with your recap missed nothing.

I think the most tender kiss was when Ingrid kissed Leon on the cheek but if that never happens I like him better with Carito. Nothing against Sonia but Leon and Sonia are a parody of a bad romance novel.

I appreciate David cutting any tie with Graciela and quite brutal at times but nothing seems to penetrate her ceramic facade. Just like ceramic, however hard it seems, if you strike it right it cracks into sharp shards.

This comment has been removed by the author.

I don't recall NoJuan having anything on Gut. I think his only skeleton in the closet was the deportation, which NoJuan mentioned when he was qualifying for his Botox from David, and that was after the fact anyway.

Hey: Are we supposed to be rooting for DisGrace? It appears as so. She is facing insurmountable odds and keeps soldiering on, facing setback after setback. And any one of these individual losses would cause a non-galaness to toss in the towel.

Anything over $10,000 has to be reported, and your bank sends you a little notice that they have ratted you out. I wonder if NoJuan and Graciela have made sure those kinds of mail don't somehow get into Dave's mailbox.

And a big Thank You Cynthia for an entertaining, detailed piece put together with your usual skill.

Tofie I like your ceramic analogy. Yes I suspect we will see some quite Sharp fragments when it finally shatters.

Sonia, Sonia, Sonia. Is anybody in this show older than 12? That's just unadulterated goofy.

Tofie..That is an excellent analogy for DIsgrace. She does look like a tiny, fragile, porcelain doll, but the exterior does not reflect her interior of envy and arrogance.

I would love to see a prequel featuring the Fab four during their college days , and how those four interacted and Dave and Lisa ended up together. Can you imagine those double dates. Also, we could see what actually happened between Lilian, Fernando, and Marta. That would be interesting.

I am always amazed to watch these novelas and see people waste their lives pursuing people who don't want them. If someone does not want me, why would I want that person? And then there is the revenge element and people wasting their lives trying to get venegence for real or perceived wrongs.

Gracias, Cynthia.

DisGracie isn't having a good day, is she? Guffaw!

She needs to get over the idea that she is the most desirable thing in ramerawear (although this series isn't providing remotely as many fashion felonies as past ones). And why is David still allowing her to touch him at all? That has to stop ayer.

When she finally does suck some man's blood will that put any color in her cheeks?

Gutierrez is playing Lillian but he might be getting to the point that it's more trouble than it's worth. What she did with the reporters should write the end to that. And telling him to go after Marta? Be careful what you wish for. This woman makes me almost ashamed to be a gringa.

Cynthia--I haven't finished the recap yet, but already it's proving to be top-notch entertainment. But I have this first comment--

From the recap, "Susan finds some paperwork that shows a lot of inconsistencies with some unknown providers. David is about to kick himself because he should have listened to everyone who was warning him."

Here it should be noted that Susan should be held responsible (and Miguel). After the fertilizer poisoning, David assigned Susan and Miguel to supervise Juan closely and everything he did was supposed to be approved by one of them. Of course that made Juan mad. I guess the writers forgot that small detail or forgot to inform us the sanctions had been lifted.

Bottom line is no one had David's back. Susan was bedding Tano and then saving him and Miguel was monitoring Luciana's whereabouts.

Susan and Miguel should have been more proactive but were more caught up in their personal trials and tribulations. True.

But David has to shoulder some of the responsibility as well. He IS the owner and as things were clearly amiss, he should have made shadowing Juan's every action a priority. But, clearly his children came first. As well they should have but he should have insisted on more follow-up reports from Susan and Miguel.

Diana

Oh, I agree the buck stops with David and he foolishly believed people cared for him and supported him as his wife did and hope it doesn't make him bitter. I would be harder on him but he is wired to be a trusting open book and feels responsible for everyone.

Reading the above recent comments about stewardship and loyalties, I don't think most of these TNs would work without some seriously brain dead good people and some evil doers who would make Satan jealous.

Kinda like real life.

So do you think David will be mad at DisGrace AGAIN when he finds out she killed Lisa? I wish we did not have to wait for the last 5 minutes of any TeleNovela for the evil people to be discovered.

If David is as pissed at NoJuan for some comparatively minor offences he might go Whacko on DisGrace.

She should run for office. Stare you right in the eye and tell you something 180 degrees from the truth.

To add to the lack of oversight, Susan and Miguel were busy trying to investigate and solve the spoiled wine. Tofie--so true, Susan spent more time worrying about Mark and talking to Luci about their romantic entanglements and Miguel spent more time chasing Luci around the vineyard than tending to Juan's business.

What can we say about Brian the Gut? He's an enigma. When I thought he was dissing Lil he moved up a notch in my book of guys trying to do the right thing, but he no sooner gets told by Lil to go look for Marta to go the event, than voila--he calls her. He just sounds so insincere to me telling Marta he loves her. A whiner. What does he get out of it? More positive press coverage--being with a Latina rather than a "Norteamericana?" Gimme a break.

Marta should have spelled out a couple of definitive reasons not to want to be with him anymore. Although she cut him off with the "you deported my family," I think he was left wondering if there was still a chance. She should have said he was an opportunist taking up with Lilian again to further his career. It's odd he's never told Marta it was Lil who set him up with the deportation scheme. Obviously, he's not proud of that because it reflects on him professionally, but just as obvious, he doesn't want to cut Lil off completely. She still wields some power and influence in the community. But if he takes up with Marta again? He knows Lil has cut him off in the past for dating Marta. As I said, he's an enigma. He's playing a dangerous game.

He's also walking a thin line between being charged with treating undocumented immigrants unfairly and trying to break up a human trafficking ring, the latter which was what he couldn't talk about in response to the reporters' questions.

It will be double trouble for DisGrunt because Lisa was the apple of Lillian's eye so she will have Lil and Dave after her. Not to mention that little thing where in the U S A it is against the law in a lot of cases to kill somebody.

I was surprised that DisGrace was prepared to call NoJuan's bluff when the coven interrupted his TV show.

Anybody like Gut still wearing Sargent stripes, etc. on a khaki uniform now?

Unless Juan goes after David's kids nothing compares to what Graciela did and I wonder at what point she attempts to kill David. You know if I cannot have him no one else will. Lisa's death almost destroyed him already.

Anita, after Lil's little outburst for the local media, I am surprised Gut is not in full damage control mode. The sheriff job, being an elected spot, is highly political, and he has been in office maybe one pay period. It leaves me scratching my head why he does not have her escorted out when she shows up. Like my neighbors cat stopping by and spraying my front door.

And I am still Corn-fused how on God's Green Earth Lillian has any real influence in the community. It is a give and take thing, and she does not have anything to bring to the party. We have not seen her holding social shindigs for the rich and powerful, so where is it coming from?

Thanks, Cynthia! My, things certainly are picking up.

I loved watching Disgrace's face during her and Lil's trip to Juan's place. When he started hinting around about the murder, she was so mad I thought her eyes would go twirly like the Trix rabbit. I think she agreed to pay Juan because Lil convinced her that it would be just a one-time thing. Alas, Lil has no idea what's really at stake. Juan's going to ask for more money again eventually. Then Grace might be obliged to rock him.

I don't know what to think about Gut. I think he's as messed up as Luciana except that his options aren't nearly as good.

I am mystified by Liliian's alleged influence on the community. You'd think her repeated phone calls during the campaign (support him - no don't - okay yes support him again) would have ruined her last shred of credibility.

Thank you Cynthia! The Tuesday preemption meant that you got a very boring episode (I was surprised by how boring given Juan's meltdown on Monday) and I dodged a bullet so I felt kind of guilty on that. You did a great job with the recap!

I love having the picture of Lilian's shirt, that's such a pretty blouse.

Kirby--I believe she thinks more highly of herself than she really is, but Gut did used her in his campaign and she did have enough influence to convince supporters and donors to give or not give.

Julie--there are a lot of folks out there who don't think for themselves and just do what they are told by other folks who tell them what to think and do because they know what's best. Fictional Sonoma is probably representative of other jurisdictions.

Lil's influence stems from her association with David through his marriage to Lisa. Nothing else that I can see on the horizon. But that's what makes her so dangerous. She should never have allied herself with Juan. He was out to ruin David. Where would that have left her, pushing as she was for DisGracie to snag David? She was probably counting on all the money that DG made as an artist--which she denigrates at every turn--to keep her in red wine and unfashionable wearing apparel.

dy--I'm the one that dodged a bland bullet. You and I changed days and I was supposed to do Tuesday.

Twix Rabbit

Oh shoot I'm laughing, Silly Wabbit Twix are for Kids

If they never even showed DisGrace from the neck down she would still be effective with that steely stare she has DOWN.

Yeah, to me...Gut/Lil/Marta are just filler. Lock the three in a cage together with no food and come back in a couple months and see which one(s) were eaten.

I can't guess who would ultimately win a Gut/Lil/Marta Hunger Games cage match, but I know Gut would be the first to lose. You have to be decisive in order to survive in a competitive environment, and neither Lil nor Marta would waste their time waiting for Gut to pick a side. If anything, they might even team up to take him down.

Hey! I didn't think this episode was bland at all. It wasn't bright and brawly like Monday, but things are moving along.

When Luci and Disgrace were having their insightful, thought-provoking debate, I couldn't help noticing just how pointy that paintbrush handle was. Luci should have worn protective eyewear.

Susanlynn: Aren't Carito & Perla cousins ?

They are not cousins. I think the undocumented worker who died a couple of months ago was Carito's cousin.

Tofie...yes, Dave is a good guy who feels responsible for everyone. Lisa was his soulmate and helpmate, and after her death, he was surrounded by three people who lusted after him or his land and money. His grief allowed those people to plot against him without him noticing. Now, he knows that Juan is not his friend , but he is still not aware that his sister in law and mother in law are also plotting against him.

I agree that Disgrace folded so quickly about handing over money to Juan because she didn't want him making threats about what he knew in front of Lilian. I cannot imagine what will be hitting the proverbial fan when the truth about Lisa's death comes out. Dave will go berserk. We are going to see Viking anger . The kids will be devastated, but how will Lilian react to the news that her favorite daughter was killed by the daughter she seems to have no love for?

That will probably be a tougher one than how Candela of LSDP reacted when she found out that her husband raped their son's fiancee.

I want to say Show said they crossed the border together, but I'm really fuzzy on that.

The whole thing with Gutierrez and Lilian Trump (really--after her verbal gaffe on camera, it was right there) and Marta...I'm still inclined to think that he at least tried to honestly get back together with our favorite blonde Hyacinth Bucket-wannabe after being spectacularly dumped, but his experiences with Marta (point to CC3 for Lil calling her "the mold that stuck in Brian's brain") stuck with him and that indirectly sets him up for redemptory karma at some point. This fakakta show's not really been very good about that up until the past two or three episodes, though, since it keeps making it all about Lilian's borderline psychopathic hatred of Marta and Latinas in general...and, TBH, I've already been long over Gut. The fact that the sheriff version of Gut looks like a stripper for a bachelorette party right before he tears his shirt off just puts it over the top.

I will obediently sit through another 55 boring episodes to see FerBRAT, Bobby Lillian, and David discover how DisGrace killed Lisa in cold blood and "Mourned" her for three years.

Fer will probably be pregnant by then.

Could Lillian in a drunken snit kill her remaining daughter?

"unfashionable wearing apparel"
OT did anyone catch the 'Great Value' shower curtain Giselle wore last night as a top?

Yes, I think Lil could kill Grace. We already sort-of suspect her of killing her husband. I don't think she'd even have to be drunk. She doesn't get angry the same way Disgrace does. Disgrace gets hot-angry. Lil gets cold-angry. I think cold-angry is scarier because you don't see it coming.

Hyacinth Bucket?? Wow Bill, you caught me off guard with that reference!

Bill C....I think that you just made the vibe I get when Gut comes on the screen become crystal clear....Male stripper. Ai am hearing MAcho Man by the VIllage PEople .Yeah, that's it. He's got the look and could
be in Magic Mike III...If he can dance.

I wonder who is going to die and who is going to prison. Lilian looks a lot bigger and stronger than DIsgrace (was Fernando a petite guy? ) There is a staircase that could become a telenovela staircase of doom. One nudge from a crazed, angry Lilian and tiny, delicate 100lb. Disgraceful will be somersaulting down those steps ala Scarlett .

Cynthia..I forgot to thank you for that first photo of Dave and LUci doing the forehead kiss..Or the Vulcan mind meld or whatever. So sweet.

Vest count for this episode..2. Dave, of course, was wearing his signature look as was Sonia. VEsts R US.

I think they said Fernando was sick when he died - so she might have been poisoning him.

I like the stairs idea, but I'm afraid Disgrace's little body would just flutter down the steps like a tumbleweed.

Susanlynn, if Dave and Luci do a Vulcan mind meld, do they finally end up with a complete brain??

Julie....Yes, if they promise to give up vests....Forever not just for LEnt.I am pretty sure this is true. #truthiness

Aw, I was thinking if the vineyard thing didn't work out, they could open a vest shop. They could call it The Vestiary and sell vests to all the most trendy and annoying celebrities.

Thanks everyone! I know I can get very detailed sometimes, I don't know how to write a short paper. But I try to lighten it up and make it fun.

DY 77 and Anita: Just wanted to say that I enjoyed writing the recap and I'm happy to take it on for the team! I really do make it more interesting for myself by playing around with the screenshots. :)

I find it very weird how Lilian thinks so highly of herself. You would think she is a very wealthy woman or something. But gosh darn, she has to live with her son in law in order to have a nice place to live? Haven't they brought up that she has a dump someplace in San Diego? She's got NOTHING, NOTHING! She has deluded herself into thinking she's "high class" when she is nothing but a wannabe.

Gut needs to drop Lil like a hot potato.

I can't wait for Lil, DisGrace, and Juan to go to prison, or die, or whatever bad thing might happen to them because they are bad people. I would hate to see any of them get off scott free without consequences. I hope Mark does something soon to land him in the slammer again, but hopefully it will be the case that he won't get out again. Or maybe he will be caught trying to do something to Susan and someone will have to shoot him in self defense. Or maybe the illegal trafficking victims will rise up against him and beat him up to a pulp.

Cynthia...WHen I think of Lilian, the term delusions of grandeur come to mind. She is such a cold , nasty, bitter egotist. I must say that I pity her and the sad life she has chosen to live. She doesn't even have any love for her own children and grandchildren.

Cynthia that last episode ending was
Priceless. Craziella looked like her
Laxative overworked.

Juan and Mark are two very overly confident jerks about their plans to get rich quick. The way they're doing it there's a murder coming. Who's is
The ????.

Maybe after all this"my vineyard is bigger than your vineyard"stuff is over,(orchard in juan's case) miguel
And Dave will be bffs+cesar.

Lillian and Gracie are like lucy&Ethel
On steroids overdose. They're both so
incredibly stupid. They'd be funny if
They weren,t so pathetic.And dangerous
And dumb with it.

I suppose I should cut fernanda some slack, she's this spoiled Sack of over
Worked hormones who thinks she should have everything she wants. But she's Daddy's Little Princess. I said I should cut her some slack but I won't.
She needs to learn she can't have everything she wants and she can't wrap her dad around a little finger, but that's partly his fault, he needs to open his eyes about her too. Maybe
Tano can do better, but not Susan. I'm
Liking her with an adult man, cesar.

Ok Thank Cynthia

Thanks, Cynthia. I'm looking forward to reading your recap tonight.

I must say that the Gut-Lil-Marta triangle is the worst I've seen. Gut is so flaky, he's hardly worth the bother.

Susanlynn: Too funny, "Vulcan Mind Meld". For those of you who don't know what that is because you've never watched Star Trek series or movies here is a link to a photograph:
http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Mind_meld

I also agree with you about Lil, Susanlynn. I can't find anything redeemable about Lilian at all. Or at least I haven't seen it yet.

Lillian is a selfish narcissist who hasn't the tiniest clue what love is. She is also a wannabe and a major hypocrite.

Gutierrez is/was a self-hating wannabe, but he isn't the same as he was in Episode 1. He's more enlightened. However, I watch his facial expressions and when Lillian can't see his face his expression is one of "Beam me up, Scotty; this woman is a black widow spider" (or praying mantis). After that little stunt yesterday he should ditch her and not look back. I don't know why he has never told Luciana or Marta that Lillian manipulated him into deporting Luciana and Marcos except for the fact that this could bring Lillian down prematurely.

I am confused about how old GUt, Lilian, And Marta are. To me GUt looks about the same age as DAve and Juan. I don't know how old Disgrace is supposed to be or if she was older or younger than LIsa, but if they were both in college with Dave, the sisters and Dave must be in the same age range unless DAve started college later than the usual 18. Is Gut supposed to be Liliana's age? If so, he looks much younger than she does.

I've been assuming that Gut is around Dave's age, and Lil is something of a cougar.

The stairs? ?. you all assume she is now alive. I have not seen any real evidence except for making human speech sounds.

Dis has to be at least 30 and discounting a teenage birth, Lil would be at least 50. Gut does not look over 40. I believe that is his real life age.

Luci must have been having pffttts after every kiss so now they just have a "romantic' head butt.

I think that the scenes between Dave and Luci are getting warmer. Perhaps, the actors are getting used to each other. Those love scenes bring people into each others personal space ,and most people only let close family and friends that close. I must admit that I am warming up to Dave now that he has come out of his trance and started to become more proactive. It will be interesting to see how this story plays out, but as with all telenovelas which are like morality plays, the wicked are punished and the good rewarded...unlike what often happens in real life..

I am not entirely sure, but were Lisa and Grace supposed to be fraternal twins? Maybe I'm wrong and I'm mixing up my stories, but I thought it was said sometime way back that they had been twins. Obviously DisGrace is the evil twin. LOL...

I was thinking Dis was older, but that does not jive with my previous Math. Lisa would be late 30s with an 18 yr old daughter, so DG must be younger, or Lil is pushing 60. (Looks it).

Cougar? Yeah Grammy Cougar. Come on, a GrandMother with grown grandkids out chasing the local sheriff? Ufh !

I was thinking that Lisa was out of college when she married David, so around 22 or 23? With an 18 year old daughter that would have put Lisa at 40 years old if she had not waited to get pregnant after marrying David. So yeah, Lil would have to be around 60 or more unless she had Lisa and DisGrace as a teenager.

I don't know about Calif but in many states the sheriff is paid a percentage of the local tax revenue and that can be a L O T of money. If that's the case, and with Brian's looks he should not be wasting his time with these dueling Grammas. He should be down at Hooters picking out a nice little drop top sport model. Shallow, yup, happy? Hell yeah, for a while.

(Eyeroll)

I also think that Brian is the same age as David, which makes him anything from 40-43. I think Lillian is meant to be about 60. I suspect that Lisa and DisGrace were born no more than two years apart and DisGrace was the younger of the two.

Younger same-sex sibs very often have the issue of keeping up or trying to surpass the older one in some way. This has been a theme in novelas over the past several years:

Adriana, Magdalena, and Rebeca in ECDLP
Regina and Daniela in PyP
Monica (or other name) and Aimee in Corazon Salvaje (all versions)
Camila and Ximena in Amor Bravio
Renata and Roberta in Cuando Me Enamoro

...and a host of others.

Urban...yeah, the telenovelas really love that sibling rivalry.

I just do not get the Gut \ Lilian \ Marta triangle. It doesn't seem believable. I cannot suspend my belief that much. However, Gut is still here, and now he is sheriff, so he must be an important part of the storyline that will resolve a!l the dirty dealings that Juan and Marked are involved in. Let's see if the writers are clever enough to give us a satisfying conclusion to this long and winding road. Gut has been pretty jerky, so he can only be redeemed by doing something heroic at this point.

Marta is till got it bad for gut, or
She wouldn't be so mad & jealous every
Time she sees them together.

I call those three Sominex.
