Vino el Amor #133 (Univision #122), April 25, 2017: Vino el Escape but Not Yet for Viewers

In this episode, Juan is on the lam with Perla, but there's no escaping:
  • David's stupidity
  • Juan's stupidity
  • Gracie's manipulations
  • Marta
  • Bobby
  • I still have one more recap to go and we've got 8 more episodes.
Miguel re-recognizes the men who beat him from the news article. Marta can't believe it.

Carito repeats her fess-up to Dum-vid that she turned in her friends for illegal-immigranting. David repeats his idiotic rushing-off to go "kill Juan."

Marta realizes that when Gutierrez was killed, those guys were trying to actually kill Carito. It's amazing how the brain cells grow when one leaves bodega del incompetency. Marta and Miguel are surprised, but Marta tells them how Carito has been troubled by something she was involved in and she was going to make a declaration, which is why they were going with Gut when they were accosted. Luciana wonders what Carito was involved in. Marta doesn't know. Miguel is wigging out and says he must call Carito ASAP.

Sonia and Leon are discussing the happenings, when Carito walks in to tell them she told David about making the declaration to the police. Sonia thinks David can control himself. (This was cut: Carito says the boss is good and she thinks it will work out. Leon hopes David finds Juan.)

Sad Bobby plays video games alone and is joined by Fer. Whatever happened to Charlie and the girlfriend? Bobby misses Marta and thinks Fer doesn't care because she's off to college soon. Fer tells him not true. She promises no matter where they are, they'll always be together.

Eyeroll  not quite Gracie quality

Miguel calls Carito to tell her he realized the goons that killed Gut are the same ones who attacked him, and she might be in serious danger. She knows, and she tells him that Juan is behind all of it. She's sorry for taking so long to tell on him, but she actually is feeling more calm now that she's told David and the police though. Then she tells Miguel about David becoming furious and threatening to kill Juan. LOL if he actually does this, all of this chitchat can be used in his murder trial, but that's assuming David would actually succeed in something. Miguel hangs up and relays that Juan hired the goons, which brings on the no puede sers from Marta and Luciana. LOL then Miguel agrees with Juan and off he goes to join the hunt!

Knock, knock, knock! Open that door yells Dum-vid as he bangs on it with his flat palm repeatedly.

A gloved hand opens the door and we see that the police got there first. David doesn't realize they have searched (and trashed) the apartment and goes looking for Juan. David is surprised to learn that Juan is on the lam.

Fer and Tano are just getting sweeter by the second. He's checking to see if she's feeling better. She's OK. She's feeling even better when she finds out Tano is going to use vacation time to visit her at university!

Dum-vid does his usual time-wasting, I'm out of it, catch me up while I act like I'm in charge of this, blustery questioning of the policeman. The policeman is like um, we know he's bad and we're looking for him. Dum-vid offers his help as he has known Juan for years. Dum-vid tells the cop about how Juan kept detailed financial records and the cop orders everyone to look for "a list with huge amounts of money."

Luciana tells Marta she never trusted Juan. She and Marta have a bash Juan session. This makes Marta sad about Gut. Adolfo walks in and asks what's going on. Luciana catches him up about Juan being the bad guy. Adolfo feels guilty (as he should) because if he had tried to put Juan in jail for Erika's death, maybe they would already have Juan in jail and Gut wouldn't have been killed. He asks Marta's forgiveness.

Dum-vid is explaining Juan's fnancial files to the cop. The cop only has Carito's word to go on, as these are not the financial files they need. Dum-vid says he'll make a declaration. Miguel walks in and Dum-vid lets him know Juan is on the lam. Miguel says that the goons are the same goons who beat him up. The cop looks positively enthused to have a competent vineyard owner in the house and asks Miguel to make a declaration. David and Miguel confirm to the cop that Juan and his pesticides were responsible for Erika's death.

Of course Marta lets Adolfo off the hook and gives him some of her inspirational mom words to comfort him about Erika's death. Adolfo tells her she's a good lady. Marta looks forward to Juan paying for his bad deeds. Adolfo decides he will give his declaration to the police after all.

David and Miguel and the cop confirm that they'll make declarations to the police about all of it. The cop rounds up his men and they leave. David and Miguel talk about how much of an evil guy Juan is. Dum-vid says our vineyards may be in competition  (Heh you're not really all that much competition, Dave), but in this effort to catch Juan, they are together.

Luciana tells Adolfo that everyone loves Marta! Except la loca Lilian. Marta says, well she's a bad lady. Marta suddenly realizes, oopsy! And asks Adolfo to excuse them as she knows Lilian is his friend. Adolfo lets her off the hook as he realizes she can be a little difficult. Luciana and Marta guffaw and then indulge in a little let's tell Adolfo how awful Lilian really is session. They spill about the deportation of Marcos/Luciana plus how Gut was involved in that. Adolfo can't believe it, and Luciana tells him if you only knew the whole picture...

Miguel finds a shaken Carito in the employee's kitchen. Carito had a bad night thinking about the bad things she knew and didn't tell. He shakes her up more with the news that Juan and Perla are on the lam. He encourages her to let the police know if Perla tries to contact her. She doesn't think Perla will do this, but promises to call the police. He gently comforts her and she gets the guilts: If she had just turned on them in time, many bad things wouldn't have happened. She tells him about how Mark threatened her to keep her quiet. He tells her they can't change the past, but they can all work together to try to find Juan.

Night falls and the Succubi greet a returning Dum-vid, who is late because he has been looking for that maldito Juan. He tells them about what's going on, and shocks Lilian with the news that the goons who gunned down Gut were hired by Juan. Juan also did the illegal immigration trafficking. Dum-vid is sure they will find him soon, as he hasn't been gone long.

All this time, Adolfo thought Lilian was a peach! (This was cut: Adolfo next gets to hear about how awful Gracie is from Luciana and Marta.) Marta hopes Dum-vid wises up soon. Join the club Marta. Miguel comes back and Adolfo literally tells him he's back in the nick of time to save him. Miguel isn't into all this and seriously announces that Juan has escaped. That stops the succubi-bashing fest. Miguel explains to Adolfo that the police could really use that declaration from him about Erika's death. Adolfo will do it.

The Succubi and Dum-vid agree: Juan esta loco. David is worried for his family and staff. If they see Juan, he doesn't want them to get near him. Bobby is not to be left alone at any moment. Gracie actually has to remind Dum-vid he might want to make that a thing for his teenage daughter as well. He agrees. He wants everyone to take every precaution. Rant: Can I just say that Dum-vid really reminds me of those types of bosses that are completely useless but love to pontificate and bluster and say the same (meaningless) things over and over? End Rant.

David goes to warn the kids, and the Succubi emergency meeting about their former partner in evil vineyard maneuvering commences! Lilian wants to kill Juan because he took Gut away from her. Gracie tries to calm her down and tells her that Juan is not stupid and would not have taken Gut out on purpose. More than ever, they need to ensure David doesn't find out about their earlier show of support for Juan. She reminds her mom that when Juan is desperate, he is pretty capable of anything.

They hash this out a little. Gracie kind of scares Lilian with her words. Lilian says they need to be careful.

Bobby and Dum-vid talk about how Bobby is doing. He's good but sad about not seeing Marta. Dum-vid finally tells him he can go visit her. David tells him also to be careful, and if he sees Juan, tell Fer, Tano or Tia Gracie. Dum-vid says the same goes for Fer.

Leon and Sonia meet in the kitchen. He wants to talk about their future. He wants to start a business. She sees him owning vineyards and he sees her becoming a famous writer. Aw. She's afraid people won't like her writing.

It's the next day and Carito is making what looks like a really good frittata or something for the workers. She says she is no Marta, but she'll do her best to take care of them. Honestly, her food looks more appealing and they don't seem too upset about it. Oh Ramon pays some lip service to darn, we miss Marta, but Carito says the important thing is she's happy in her new job and she knows we love her and are happy for her. Leon backs her up and says Marta would want to know they are happy. Carito then gives a Marta-esque speech about how Ramon, Tano and Leon are her family. This is their reaction:

Breakfast time with Tia Gracie! The hot cakes are ready!

Bratty Bobby can't eat them, and not because he's worried about evil Juan or anything...he just misses Marta! Maybe they need to get Carito to cook. Gracie is bummed he didn't like her surprise pancakes. Can't he just take a little bit? When Bobby is sad, he doesn't want to eat. Dum-vid literally says "I know you miss Marta but you have to eat." Then he starts pontificating about how it's hard when you miss someone you love. This brings on dramatic music and evil looks from Gracie.

Now we see some typical tourist shots of San Francisco. Juan and Perla enter a hotel room that looks like a redecorated version of his bedroom. Juan is on a call and gets news from someone (a goon?) that the police are looking for them and raided their apartment. Perla freaks out. Juan says this is all Carito's fault. You know, because Carito, not Juan, poisoned the grapes, embezzled funds, cut the water supply, planted the pesticides that killed Erika and bought out the evil olive oil farm next door. Right...

Vinedo del competency is having a work meeting about wine production costs. Gotta break that up, so new employee Marta brings them all coffee. Luciana and Miguel really missed her coffee! Miguel tells Adolfo, just wait until you eat her food! Adolfo takes one sip and decides he needs to get to that police station pronto to make his declaration. Miguel will go with him. Luciana tells Marta it's good they're together.

Dum-vid, Gracie and Bobby discuss plans for the day. Dum-vid has to work and visit the police will be out all day. This bums Bobby out big time. He wants to visit Marta. Gracie tries to get it out of it but finally tells the kid they can do what he wants, but he has to eat.

Marta is feeling the competency, and Luciana is glad they can work together, but all her life, Marta has worked at vinedo del incompetency and she's feeling guilty for leaving the kids. Luciana reminds her that she left with her dignity intact and she shouldn't feel bad about leaving, about David or about fighting with Lilian.

Shot of the Full House house in San Francisco. Then we see Perla contemplating where criminals on the lam work and live. Juan has no idea. He tries to calm her down, but she's afraid and wants to go to the police. As she puts it, "this is not the life you promised me."

At this point, Juan points out to her that he's not the only criminal on the lam here. Perla is shocked.

Sonia brings a snack to Lilian, who was looking at a photo of Dead Lisa. Lilian is not hungry and isn't eating, but Sonia tells her she has to eat. Then Sonia asks her about her public relations job and will it continue with the new sheriff. That doesn't go well. Lilian does sort of wake up though and tells Sonia that she's in charge of Marta's old job of keeping the house and kids on point for now.

Luciana makes a big point of opening her laptop and telling Marta she's gotta work! Marta is going to the kitchen. Suddenly, Bobby bursts in to the vinedo del competency and greets Luciana. She's thrilled. Until...
Tia Grace pops her head in.

Bobby runs off to the kitchen to visit Marta and Grace checks out Luciana's new office, making herself at home in Adolfo's chair. Luciana is not friendly and Gracie says she understands, because David preferred to marry her. Luciana tells her she won't permit her to insult her, much less not there. Gracie says she's only there for Bobby like she promised. She always does what she promises - hey, she got Luciana out of the house! And also her mom! And she promises that Luciana will never see David again after Gracie marries him.

Susan attempts to get David to focus on work by giving him a list of something work-related. But he's distracted as always. This time, never mind the escaped villain who wants to destroy him, he's worried that Bobby misses Marta. He's also sad that Marta doesn't like him anymore and can't help him out at the house any more. He wishes nothing had happened. Susan tells him that she knows it was a tough decision but she's sure Marta and Luciana care about him.

Luciana thinks Dum-vid will figure out what kind of woman Gracie is. Gracie shoots back that he already has as most of the problems in the house have been fixed now that Luciana has left. They trade a few more barbs. Luciana tells her if the kids love you, it's because you are the sister of their mother. But you are truly very far away from being like your sister. Gracie tells her to shut up, imbecil. Luciana tells her it's the truth.

Marta's dusting Erika's bedroom, which has a remarkable resemblance to Fer's bedroom, only the bed is on the other side and has all those sheets. Bobby bursts in and she's thrilled to see him. They catch up and he tells her his dad let him come since he refused to eat, and Tia Grace brought him. Then he tells Marta that he's happy they are inviting Christiano to the wedding! The dramatic music begins and Marta fake smiles about it.

Gracie tells Luciana that the kids love her for all she has done for them. Luciana tells her that David is only with her because she helps him with the kids and he doesn't love her. Gracie tells her that's what she wants to believe and hey, if he knew you were in love with him, why didn't he ask you to marry him? She and Dum-vid will make one beautiful family, understand? Bobby runs in and the conversation is finished. Especially when Gracie tells Bobby she could use his help with wedding invitations. Bobby asks Luciana if she'll be there, and she starts to decline, but Gracie tells her they'd love to have her there. Marta tells them Luciana needs to go back to work and Gracie says, "Bye-ee!"

They leave and Luciana vents to her mother about the Dum-vid/Gracie engagement.

Lilian asks Sonia if she has Perla's number. She does, but she doesn't know if it changed after she left to be with Juan. She gives it to Lilian, who dismisses Sonia and calls it. Perla did not change the number, but Juan stops her from answering the phone. He's surprised to see it's Lilian.  He gives Perla his credit card (thanks tofie) and sends her out to buy some necessities.

They always do weird angle shots of Tano and Fer for some reason. Now Fer is sad over Marta and she realizes she's going to miss Tano at school. Tano makes her feel a little better. True love defeats all, Fer has realized.

Adolfo encounters Dum-vid at the police station. Dum-vid repeats his big line of the night: the vineyards may be in competition, but in tracking down Juan, they are together. Adolfo says they can count on his competent vineyard for help, and then clears the air about Marta and Luciana coming to work at his competent vineyard. David asks Adolfo to treat them well. LOL, I'm pretty sure Adolfo can beat Dum-vid in that department too.

Lilian is awoken from a nap when the phone rings. It's Juan, asking if she was looking for him. She gets right up and right to cussing him out and looking forward to his capture. He gets right to taunting her about Gut liking Marta over her. She tells him he's pathetic with the destroying Dum-vid thing and one more thing... she's going to dedicate herself to destroying him!

Thank You Dee Wye for hanging in here with us.

So we had a real Earth shaking episode this time. NoJuan and Perla are on the run.. Who'd a thunk it?
Lillian calls NoJuan to tell him she is mad because he had her pretend boyfriend killed. Stop the presses.
Miggy FINALLY hugs Carito, she looks over his shoulder meanwhile with that "Did I take my pill this morning?" look.

Are they going to pack all these previews I have been seeing every night and on EVERY LooneyVision program into one last episode?

Frustrated in Flor-I-Duh.

This is really appreciated dy.

"Marta realizes that when Gutierrez was killed, those guys were trying to actually kill Carito"

How many more episodes are about Marta and that ravenous ego of hers. I laughed the whole time she and Luciana were dumping on Lilian since she left out screwing, literally, Lilian's husband.

And Lila, I agree with everything you said yesterday about Marta. Marta planned to break up both families to be with Fernando. Did she expect Marcos to crawl away and not be a father to their children? Did she expect Fernando to daddy her kids and negligent Lilian's or pile them all in one house or run off like Ramon and Adolfo's wives did?

Juan gave Perla his credit card.

So, David thought it a good idea for Graciela to take Bobby to see Marta.

You're welcome! Will update for the credit card thing, thanks tofie. Wow Juan is stupid for doing that.

This really was the "Marta is the greatest ever" episode, whether one agrees or not (I personally don't for reasons Lila said).

I did watch the Mexican episode online to do the recap in advance, and was surprised that Univision made some tiny cuts (which are noted). Nothing big and no other episodes in this one. I think they did it to make room for more ads.

So, David thought it a good idea for Graciela to take Bobby to see Marta.

I suppose we are to believe, based on Davids omission from Mensa, that he did not put Juan and Juan together to get TWO, in that Boob seeing Marta also meant Grace chatting with Lulu.

Is Adolfo as sharp as he seems, in that when a woman lamblasts another woman to an available man, there might be more than one side to the story?

I missed a lot of this episode, I was getting Ice Cream, making a sandwich, checking the light bulb in the Fridge, busy.

If "All this is your fault." as NoJuan said to Perla, it will be for sure positively her dam fault when they trace that Visa card too.

After grinding my teeth down to nubs at Adolfo sort of swooning over Marta last night (and, no lie, muttering "Fork you, Marta, you've got a man" at one point) I think I had my character priority list wrong a few days ago. Ultimately, in terms of overall pimping, I think it's largely gone

1. Graciela
2. Marta
3. Miguel
4. Luciana
5. Juan/Fernanda/Lilian
12. Everybody else

Unfortunately, Juan went from zero to forking stupid in two scenes; he gave Perla his credit card (good catch, tofie, I missed that too), which obviously has to get flagged. And then, after exhorting cellphones=bad to Perla, he turns around and calls Lilian to taunt her? Really, dude?

And what was up with that truly weird upshot of Fernanda and Tano? If she wasn't wearing skorts or whatever that was, that would have been extremely awkward.

OTOH...Kimberly Dos Ramos's nearly epic bitchface as David was talking about not being with the person you love (as much as they're tripping themselves up with it, at least David's verbally being consistent about this one damn thing) singlehandedly saved this episode. Even over Best Couple talking about the future.

DY--All I can say is you win the blue ribbon for reporting on a gripping episode. No, I mean it, sincerely. Thank you. Yipeeeeee!! The Damn Has Broken!!!! The truthinesses are finally cascading down on us. (More later---I don't want my bagel to burn, I only want it toasted--like I would like to see Juan.)

Hey, DY! Thank you, Girl!

Marta realizes that when Gutierrez was killed, those guys were trying to actually kill Carito. It's amazing how the brain cells grow when one leaves bodega del incompetency.

Dum-vid says our vineyards may be in competition (Heh you're not really all that much competition, Dave), but in this effort to catch Juan, they are together.

Night falls and the Succubi greet a returning Dum-vid, who is late because he has been looking for that maldito Juan.
Not sure why this cracked me up so much!

This time, never mind the escaped villain who wants to destroy him, he's worried that Bobby misses Marta. He's also sad that Marta doesn't like him anymore and can't help him out at the house any more.

LOVE your intro! Gosh! How do these people say these lines without cracking up! So Perla didn't know she was a criminal? Jeezopete! Well, one thing that was enjoyable in the episode was Lil and Gracie getting nervous about that maldito Juan being on the loose. Oh, yeah, y'all should be worried! I wonder what Lil's nasty call will prompt Juanderer to do? Lil knowing DG rocked Lisa will be a kill shot for both her and Dud.

Did Perla or Juanderboy remember to get the tell all cell phone of doom? Are we making too much of the phone? I want my reveal!! NOW!!

Thanks, DY!

"Susan attempts to get David to focus on work by giving him a list of something work-related. But he's distracted as always. This time, never mind the escaped villain who wants to destroy him, he's worried that Bobby misses Marta. (SCRATCH, SCRATCH) He's also sad that Marta doesn't like him anymore and can't help him out at the house any more. (SCRATCH, SCRATCH) He wishes nothing had happened. Susan tells him that she knows it was a tough decision but she's sure Marta and Luciana care about him."

LOL I had to make note of that scratching; it's really annoying and distracting for me.

ITA on the credit card thing...Nojuan thinks of himself as so smart and here he is using his credit card...as someone pointed out a few days ago..he really needs to watch some of those Discovery Investigative shows..or something like that... BTW, was NoJuan really on the lam or was the trip meant for something else. If he was on the lam, who tipped him off??

RC

BTW, great recap, DY...THANK YOU!!!!

RC

Thanks, dy77 for this. It must have felt good to get an episode with something that will finally get us to the finish.

Since Juan and Perla went on the lam as fast as they did I doubt he ever considered that they would need bank accounts and credit cards in phony names (although that must be more difficult to do these days). When I went to have my taxes done the office called me three days before and said to bring a government-issued photo ID because of all the fraud alerts.

Perla is starting to remind me of the stupid gangster molls out of 1930s movies.

We don't know if Juan took Lisa's cell phone with him. It most likely does not have any evidence on it but could be used to send DisGrace over the edge. That will cause her to not only melt down but flame out. Since Lillian just threatened Juan it isn't going to be long before one of them goes down, then drags the other after.

If I had been writing this I would have had Luciana tell DisGrace off by saying "You think David loves you? Well, fine then; you can have him. If he's that blind and stupid I don't want him!" If she could say that with enough conviction that would have sent DisGrace packing, never to return to VSB.

BTW, isn't it possible to get GPS info on calls made from cell phones? I'll bet Juan and his little bimbo didn't think of that, either.

Urban, I would LOVE for Luci to have said that! That may be as unlikely as the use of Juan's credit card or cell phone stats/GPS tipping the police off to his whereabouts! In eight shows, they've got time for all kind of tomfoolery that does NOT involve those clues OR the tell all cell phone of doom!

:/

The Cell Phone of Doom will obviously be saved until the end. As for the rest the writers have no excuse for not knowing -- or their characters not knowing -- about GPS, LUDs, and credit card records because our Law & Order programs have been seen in Mexico. I used to wonder whether those programs made criminals smarter.

One can also hope that whatever intelligence Perla possesses went into contraception because she and Juan are stupid enough that they shouldn't be allowed to breed.

David just misses the drama and the void caused with Marta and Luciana's departure. He loves women squabbling over a man.

Hey tof, maybe Fernando ISN'T dead and is in a ménage à trois marriage with Ramon and Adolfo's exes in Texas. . . Spain or... or San Fransisco! Now THAT woulda got ratings up!

If memory serves me right, I believe that when NoJuan told Perla-moll-idiot to turn off her phone, he said he would call Lilli-buster later on a secure phone.

Also, I think NoJuan took everything with him (files, plot phone...). Wouldn't the PO-lice have found it when they searched the apartment? I don't think NOJuan would have time to "secure it" somewhere else...

RC

Thanks, dy77! I really liked your notes about the re-dressed sets. I never notice stuff like that!

"Can I just say that Dum-vid really reminds me of those types of bosses that are completely useless but love to pontificate and bluster and say the same (meaningless) things over and over?" What? I cannot even imagine that such a person exists. I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about. (I may be ignoring some repressed memories.)

"It's amazing how the brain cells grow when one leaves bodega del incompetency." Yeah, well, seriously, did Marta not realize before that Carito was the target? I guess that explains why she didn't mention Carito in her telling of the story.

"The cop orders everyone to look for 'a list with huge amounts of money.'" Thank goodness David was there to tell them that. Professional investigators would never know to look for something like that on a guy who's running an illegal business.

I didn't think it was so cool for Marta and Luci to tell Adolfo all their grievances with Lilian. But I'm sorry I missed the scene of them trashing Gracie too!

I thought Leon was going to ask Sonia to marry him last night. (He hasn't done that yet, right?) Not sure why I thought that. Anyway, it didn't happen.

Poor Carito, it looks like she's next in line to fill Marta's sensible shoes.

I loved Grace's metallic green jacket. It made her look like a beetle - but it was still a nice change from her usual look.

How is Lilian planning to destroy Juan? Is she going to call all her "friends" and tell them he's awful?

I finally noticed the beard-scratching last night. I was picturing an absent-minded, pensive gesture, but he actually looked really uncomfortable.

Whoa, Urbanita! Thank you for that pic of GS at the end of yesterday's comments! WHAT A DOLL he was! Lawdy! I bet if GS was like that now, IB would be all up in his stuff! And ratings would've been up, too! I wouldn't even mind his befuddled stares as much!

Julie, I don't think Marta thought of that in the moment. Carito didn't confide much about why she needed to meet with Gutierrez so Marta may not have realized that Carito's life was in serious danger.

I don't think Leon will propose to Sonia until he gets his business up and running. Along with everyone else I want to see Sonia get published before this is all over, despite knowing that this takes a longer time than that in the real world.

I didn't think it was so cool for Marta and Luci to tell Adolfo all their grievances with Lilian. --Julie

MEOOOWWWW! That was some low down feline mess, wasn't it? Luci, please don't be taking no pages from Marta's book!

Lila, did you see him in YNCELH? His hair was darker in that one but his beard much shorter. Not to mention they also gave him a cute younger brother.

Juan's funds are running low... he might need to ask Grace for another blackmail payment. Might be a good time to bring out the Bluffing Cell Phone.

Oh yeah, I did appreciate that photo of GS from that other TN. That's almost Rulli quality. Still like him better with no beard at all, but it's an improvement over the look we're seeing now.

The "cute younger brother" is kind of squishy-looking for my tastes, but the casting was perfect to look like GS's brother.

One thing I've been thinking about lately is just how many TNs are about a relationship between a manager or business owner, and an employee. (Not just coworkers/peers). Is this usual in Mexico? In Latin America?

Kirby: Carito getting Miguel in the end wasn't a shock. However, Erika had to get whacked in order for that to happen UGH!

UA: Juan is now responsible for 2 murders (Erika & Gutierrez) & if he gets caught, will he get the Death Penalty ? CA is a Death Penalty State.

No, Urban, this is actually the first time I've seen him in anything though I've seen his face on the board and around the net. He was fine in Ladrón que roba a ladrón. I didn't see it, but here's his pic (too lazy to do code): http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0815529/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_i7

He ain't bad now, having just turned 41 last Monday, but, oh well. Maybe after this I'll watch some scenes from YNCELH to erase this doofusness from my mind!

Steve, I hope you are speculating. Spoilers are not permitted here.

As for whether Juan would get the Death Penalty, I doubt it. There hasn't been an execution in California in over ten years and most death row inmates wait longer than that between sentencing and execution.

Julie, I can't answer your question about whether this is usual or commonplace in Mexico or anywhere else. However, as to relationships between bosses & employees...

La Que No Podia Amar
Mi Corazon es Tuyo
Mundo de Fieras
Porque el Amor Manda*
Teresa

*Female boss & male subordinate; others are the usual male boss scenario

La Fea Mas Bella

Ay! Fernando!

David just misses the drama and the void caused with Marta and Luciana's departure. He loves women squabbling over a man.

Tofie, lol! This is very true.

Julie, all I've got is that Lilian can plant some fake news about Juan.

I too have noticed the GS beard scratching. And he's just not as hot in this as he was in YNCELH but that galan he played was an actualfax galan, which is a big part of that.

Thanks all for your nice words!

That's what I meant by "many TNs." I could add more to the list (Destilando Amor, Una Familia con Suerte, I think Por Ella Soy Eva, LFMB, Hotel de los Secretos, etc), but that is why I am wondering just how acceptable/prevalent it is in the real world.

(Don Fernando - tan divino!)

If Lillian were real smart she would fake friendship and concern for NoJuan and help the PoPo find him. But everyone on this show is a Dim Bulb so that aint happenin.

Knowing what only Graciela knows, she must be plotting how she can help NoJuan die.

Julie, I would hope that this is just as outdated as the idea that all inheritances go in full to first-born sons.

Jesus Carus' character in YNCELH was in high school, so it will be interesting to see how he matures.

Yeah, Max was a real galan in YNCELH. Even when he failed it wasn't because he didn't try with every fiber and he never blamed anyone. María Dolores didn't deserve him.

I thought of something over lunch - Forget what I said earlier about it's time for Juan to ask Grace for a blackmail payment. I don't see how he can continue to blackmail here, because he's now a wanted man, while Grace isn't wanted for anything. Unless there truly is some really excellent evidence on that phone, he can't risk asking her for anything.

BUT he could sell the phone to LILIAN, if she has any cash. Or, come to think of it, he might have to show her the evidence (if any) to save his own life, because in case you haven't noticed, she seems kinda mad.

Course, she'd have to find him first.

Sorry, meant to say "I don't see how he can continue to blackmail her"

(But when I said "Grace isn't wanted for anything," I meant it!)

Thanks, dy77. Terrific title and recap. My fave: Dum-vid does his usual time-wasting, I'm out of it, catch me up while I act like I'm in charge of this, blustery questioning of the policeman.

Yep, they really wasted GS's hotness in this TN. Ultimately, I lay all the blame on the writers.

I noticed the beard scratching too. Seems GS is left-handed, I never noticed before.

ITA not cool for Marta and Luciana to bash Lil to Adolfo. I thought Adolfo might cut them off out of loyalty to his good friend, but he seemed to take it all in. In the past when Erika warned him about Lil, he didn't listen.

Yeah when GS is under stress and realizes it he starts clawing. The more serious the moment the mire rambunktious the clawing. When the REVEAL hits him expect him to scratch off his left face.

I'll blame the writers for a lot of this, but I reserve a special boo/hiss for whoever chose to either skip or ignore a test for chemistry between IB and GS. Presumably the casting people, producers, etc have enough experience to know when it's not going to work out. Or maybe some clever person at the studio insisted that the two of them do a TN together, and it didn't matter what anyone else said about it.

But if it's true that the story was changed due to bad ratings, and the bad ratings were due to bad chemistry, then it might not be fair to blame the writers for as much of this as I previously thought. It must suck to think you've got the whole story planned out, only to be told that you have to rewrite it halfway through to please the audience (or more to the point, improve the ratings).

I don't know if the original story, as planned, was any better; but making the writers redo it in a hurry is setting them up to fail.

And this would verify Urban's early suspicion that they were making it up as they went along.

I just know if we have 8 more episodes of Marta Marta Marta I may weigh 300 pounds by the FIN

Thank you, dy77, for that excellent, detailed recap.

I don't understand much Spanish, but I thought that I heard Miguel call Carito "Hermosa." Did he? If so, uhoh..looks like He and she might end up together.

Regarding Dave's itchiness, perhaps Booboo brought home some lice from school one day. If so, I cannot wait to see Gracie and Lilian start scratching.

"How are you feeling, Boobee?" " You look blue, Bobbeee." " Is that a tear, little guy?". I pity Booboo as he ventures out into the big, wide world and discovers that not everyone is so concerned about him being happy. That discovery is going take place in the school of hard knocks. Also, I realize that Dave likes to call Bob "Champ," but sometimes it sounds like he is saying "Chump"... Not as cute.

Another observation, when Gracie does her signature move of holding her manicured left hand up to her chin to display the engagement ring to Lu, you just know that in reality she wants it to be just the one figure salute .

Kirby, is this TN causing you to stress-eat??

Just Ice Cream.

Gracie tells Lu that "she will never see David again after she marries him." What ?? Is Grace planning on locking him in his room? #misery. Is a tower being built? #rapuzel I am imaging Dave with really long hair.

By the way, are we to assume that Dave and Gracie are still bunny hopping, or has that all stopped since Bob walked in on them? Are they abstaining until after the wedding? I hope so.

dy77..I enjoyed the screen caps. I especially love those looks on Gracie's face. I wish I had her arsenal of expressions . Maybe I'll spend some time practicing. As they say, "If looks could kill.".. There would be a lot more dead people in the vineyard .

At this point I can't blame Kirby if he's mainlining Doritos at this point. My coping mechanism is going "What the fork, ?" at my TV...got me through El Talisman and many an hour of English-language soaps, too...

I hadn't heard anything about this fakakta show being rewritten on the fly or by mandate until now, but if it was getting low ratings in Mexico and that prompted some sort of shift--it happens, we know, but then the question becomes what was the original idea and would it indeed have been better than what we ended up with. That said, as Julie noted, it probably does go back to Gabriel Soto and Irina Baeva; Gabe's held up his end WRT David and Luciana, but IB still isn't/wasn't able to get there. And that loops to GS and KDR, which...well...

That said, this being Irina's literal...third?...novela role ever does act as a mitigating circumstance. To a point.

#rapunzel how about a really long (itchy) beard?

Abstaining? Are you kidding? Sex is the only way she can keep his attention. They've gotten it on several times since Booby walked in on them.

I think I've actually been drinking less wine since I started watching this thing. I'm about ready to switch to hemlock if something big doesn't happen soon.

Julie..I think that I might pick up a bottle of vino to toast the end of the show. It will make me sleepy, but I want to get into the spirit. I will be drinking vino and practicing sneering.

Also, I realize that Dave likes to call Bob "Champ," but sometimes it sounds like he is saying "Chump"... Not as cute. --Susanlynn

OMG! I almost spit out my coffee! This is HILARIOUS! Yah, Dave's the Chump!

dy, I read this early this morning and have been tied up with work all day.

I will have to read all the comments later, but wanted to thank you for another excellent recap.

“Can I just say that Dum-vid really reminds me of those types of bosses that are completely useless but love to pontificate and bluster and say the same (meaningless) things over and over”. Yes, you may dy, and thank you for noting so succinctly what so many of us have endured for years. Blech.

"he bangs on it with his flat palm repeatedly". Does he not know to make a fist when he knocks?? That was rather strange, but hey, who's counting.

Moving like molasses. Sigh.

Thanks dy for keeping the summary bright.

Diana

That open palm is the standard PoPo way. It is used because it makes more noise than a closed fist.

What is interesting, is beneath DisGrace's facade to LuLu, she is one Dorito away from wigging out. She is up and down in a flash. When she thinks she has the world by the ass she is on cloud nine. But one tiny hiccup and she is suddenly in panic mode as she mulls over all her personal secrets and flaws in her plan which make her vulnerable to being found out.

That is why I think she may be her own undoing. I could see her ALMOST be uncloaked, nearly enough to go ahead and come unglued and try one last crazo run for it or at it. Maybe try to kill someone else but have a Rock misfire.

All she would need is someone to claim they have proof of her murder of Lisa, even when they do not, but her reaction would remove all doubt. I just keep seeing AnaLetmeWhackmySister in Tres Veces Ana with the lipstick and broken mirror.

Thank you very much DY77 for all your hard work. Your screen shots were just amazing. Loved the one of Luciana giving "that look" and also of DisGrace appearing upset because of what David saying something about missing people you love.

I wonder if DisGrace doesn't mind being the subject of MeatLoaf's old song, "Two out of Three Ain't Bad."

I echo the fact too that Juan should know better than to have cell phones on when on the run. He needs to watch more Investigative Discovery as he would learn that the police can have your cell phone "pinged" so that they can locate you in the vicinity of a particular tower. And then of course, the credit card thing. When you are on the run, no credit cards, and cash only! Use a disguise (LOL) and disable your cell phone by taking the battery out. Use a "burner" that you pay for in cash. But even doing that, using a burner has a number associated with it that can be traced to place you bought it. People have been caught buying the phone from a Walmart and caught on camera while paying for the thing.

I don't know how Juan can blackmail anyone. As far as I can tell, there is no definitive proof that DisGrace murdered Lisa. I think all he really has are suspicions based on DisGrace's behavior immediately following what happened. He would have to find out something for sure and have ample proof that DisGrace has done something horrible before he can blackmail. He can say all he wants about how he thinks DisGrace killed Lisa, but he really has nothing. She can deny it till the cows come home and David will be dumb enough to believe it.

Oh I've been eating a lot of Tostitos lately. I need to go make some more guacamole for tonight. No wine.

Dy77 I liked this episode.And therecap
Is all knowing.Im watchin marta talkin

Psycho tia's visit to the competent vineyard Was a sad attempt on her part to Try and one up Lucy was a big fat waste. Just because the man put a ring on it, doesn't mean he wants it. He's
Sitting at the breakfast table missing
The one he loves and not thinkin about
The one he's with. And if looks could kill he'd be dead by now, from that poison look she gave him.

Thank you dy77.

Cynthia, Juan was able to extract at least one large blackmail payment from Grace not long ago, and was able to blackmail her into leaving the vineyard right after Lisa's death. So it doesn't matter if we don't know how he could do it... he did it. I think she's afraid that he really does have some proof, even if she has no idea what it could be.

And if he was able to do it before, he should be able to do it again... except the police are looking for him this time, which drastically reduces his options. Is there any way he can collect a payment without himself or Perla coming out of hiding? Like you say, there are cameras everywhere. Unless it's a bitcoin transaction or something.

Tostitos and guac actually sounds perfect tonight, Cynthia. Thanks for the idea!

Nina - "Juanderful" - you are a poet.

Julie, I must have slept through the blackmail payment you speak of that happened not long ago. But I do remember how he got DisGrace to leave Sonoma. I don't think he extracted money from her then, but my memory could be failing me on this one. I'd have to go back and re-watch it.

Yep, Tostitos and guacamole tonight!

No, there was no payment when he got her to leave the vineyard right after Lisa's death. But blackmail doesn't have to be about money.

The blackmail payment was just after Juan left the vineyard, when DG and Lil went to visit him. He was hinting around about it right in front of Lilian, and Grace couldn't get out of there fast enough!

I think there was another payment earlier, maybe when she first returned to the vineyard? I don't remember.

The point is that he does make her nervous. He might not even need Lisa's actual cell phone to scare her (I doubt Grace remembers what it looked like). He could wave any 2-3 year old phone at her and probably provoke a nervous breakdown.

The fact that he has the real thing makes me think that it does have real evidence on it, and that he'll show it to someone other than Grace.

Well...that flippin fone aint gettin any younger, 'bout time to put it in play Juanzo.

Bring it on NoJuan.

I think that Juan suspected Grace of killing Lisa because Gracie was all upset and he recognizes someone who like himself has no scruples and is capable of murder. There must be some kind of damaging evidence on that phone because why else would Juan have it safely tucked into that little wooden keepsake box. And why would the writers make sure we saw it a couple times, including when Perla found it , took it out of the box, and held it up to the camera so that we could all make note of it. Juan could gaslight Grace, but he must have something on that phone if he so carefully kept it .

I enjoyed both "Juanderer" and " Juanderful." 😂

He's a "juanderer" with perla. And she
Thinks he's "juanderful". Lol,I crack
Myself up. :)

Anon 11:01 "scratch scratch" I had to
Laugh out loud, that was funny. This man is truely a numnut. And shave off
That beard,it's annoying Anon 11:01 :)

I like funny....but I really like clever fuuuunny. What a crowd.!

Susanlynn-"regarding the scratching, maybe booboo brought home some lice from school one day" that had me laugh
Out loud. All of them should be doing some scratchin cuz they love huggin the boobee, wit his little happy self.

Ohhh... ice cream.
I would like to have ice cream, but I can't, because I have no head.

That's right, I'm typing this with no head because it exploded when someone on this show did something so stupid that it LITERALLY blew my mind.

(Hopefully my head will grow back overnight, because I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and she will be suspicious if I show up looking like this. Also, I'd like to be able to eat ice cream again.)

I can't wait to discuss this tomorrow. Maybe someone can convince me that it wasn't as stupid as I think it is.

I do like the beard-lice idea. Somebody please give lice to Grace! Incurable lice that will always be with her, whether she ends up in prison or a madhouse. (If she dies, maybe there is a special kind of lice for her in hell.)

A head usually grows back in 7 hours with rest. The regrowth is tender for another 17 hours before full use can be expected.
