Vino el Amor #135 (Univision 124); Thursday April 27, 2017: Vino el Chantaje (Blackmail)

Repeated scene: The Bodega’s reorganization and new assignments.

There was a musical montage of what appears to be time passing. People are working, Carito taking care of Bobby, Tano receiving texts from Fernanda, Susan and Ramón meeting with David, successes at the SB Vineyard, David disinterested in the wedding, León making plans, Lil staring at a photo of Gutierrez, Ramon and Marta walking hand in hand, Susan and Cesar, and Juan with Perla looking very unhappy.

After the montage is over, the heading is “Months later.” So we have a time jump here.

Tano comes over to visit Miguel at the SB vineyard. He says they have been very busy since Luciana left. Tano says that it is best that she is there because he doesn’t know how badly affected Luciana would be with all the wedding stuff going on. Miguel mentions how special Luciana is to him and Tano advises him to be careful.

At breakfast the next morning, Lil mentions that they are only one week away from the wedding. Bobby is so excited because he can’t wait for….his friends to come so they can have a big party. Lil is excited because all the important people of Sonoma will be there. Dave says he just wants to see his family happy. But the phone rings and it’s the police. They want him to come down to the station for something.

Juan and Perla are running out of money in San Francisco. Perla asks, “Are you sure we have enough money? Because you keep giving me less and less for food.” Juan’s phone rings and his gardener is informing him that the police are at his property. Juan gets very angry and says he is going to go down there. Perla pleads with him not to because the police with catch him and he should think very hard about losing his freedom. She says that they need to leave now. Then Juan comes up with an idea to get some money. He says that someone owes him for his keeping silent for them. Perla says, “Don’t start with your mystery talk again. What are you talking about?” He’s referring to DisGrace and how he is going to extract money from her. Perla advises not to do this but Juan says she has to pay for everything she did to him. Then he says after that, he is going to murder David with his own bare hands.

Adolfo brings good news. The Frontera brand of their wine is a success and being exported to Spain! They are all very happy for the news and Luciana says that Erica really deserves the credit. But Adolfo says that it never would have happened if Luciana hadn’t come to them after….(meaning when Erica died). He declares that they a very good team! He is also very proud that the wine his daughter developed is going everywhere around the world and says he is very thankful to both Miguel and Luciana for seeing his daughter’s dream come true. Miguel says he is very thankful to be a part of this too.

At the police department the officer tells David that Juan’s property has been seized, his assets frozen, and the land will be going to David, they just have to wait for the process to take place. (I guess they don’t go to court in Sonoma County and see a judge. Police officers handle it all here!) The police are looking for him and are setting a trap for him to corner him. David tells him he is the principal one who wants to see Juan punished.

Perla calms Juan down, but he sends her out to get some breakfast. Then he calls DisGrace on the phone. She answers and says “Did you miss me?” He needs her help but DisGrace tells him he’s in big trouble because of the immigrant situation and the sheriff. He denies that. Then he lays the big one on her, that she has to help him or he’s going to tell David that she’s the one who murdered Lisa. She denies it and says she had nothing to do with it and she has no money. Juan says, “Think about it Grace, because if I talk, you will lose everything.” But Grace says, “No one will believe you because you are a fugitive.” Juan warns her, “Do you really want to take that risk?”

DisGrace says he has no proof of any of that. Juan explains he saw her coming from the river right after what would have been the time that Lisa died. Furthermore, Juan says, “Now if I go to David with this information, it will be enough that he will have doubts about you.” “Shut up!” Says DisGrace, “You don’t know what you are talking about.” Juan demands that she comply with what he wants or he will tell David. “David doesn’t love you the way he loved Lisa. He will cancel the wedding if he has any doubts about you. What do you think about that?”

“You know what?” says Disgrace, “I’m not going to let you bother my family.” Juan says, “Ha! Your family? Isn’t this the family you robbed from your sister Lisa? In fact, I know exactly the kind of person you are. And for your own good, you’d better give me what I am asking.” (DisGrace is looking very nervous by now.) DisGrace says, “So if I give you what you want, are you going to leave us in peace?” Juan just laughs. “How much do you want?” says Grace. Juan finally gives her the amount he wants: One million dollars!

At the employees’ house Tano comes in with a package for León, who is very excited to receive this package. It’s from a publishing company. Tano wants to know what it is all about, but León says it’s a surprise for Sonia.

David comes to tell Susan about what happened at the police station and that because Juan has no money to pay for what he has done, the land will be given to David as payment. But he is seeking some kind of proposal that he and Luciana drew up when he was going to buy the olive orchard. He nostalgically says, “It was one of the last things we ever did together.” Susan says she will try to locate the plans.

Lil comes to Grace and is asking for the list of wedding guests but she is starting to have a meltdown since Juan called. “What did he want?” says Lil. “He wanted money”, says Grace. “Oh just tell him you don’t have any.” Grace continues her worries and then Lil says “there is nothing he can say about anything because it’s all hearsay. Or is there something else more that I don’t know about?”

“Like what?” Grace says. Lil says, “I don’t know, you tell me!” DisGrace tells Lil that Juan is threatening them about their earlier embezzlement activities. Lilian tries to comfort Grace and tell her, “Look do you really think that David will believe Juan?” (Yes he would!) Lil continues, “Juan just want to threaten David, and David will not believe him. He believes in you.” “What if he comes here?” Lil says, “Juan may be a dummy, but he’s not stupid. He knows the police are looking for him and he won’t show his face around here.” Grace looks a little more assured and says, “You are right, he doesn’t have a way to really hurt us.”

Perla gets back with a bag of food and she asks Juan if he has spoken to his lawyer about his property. Juan, who is lying in bed, answers no. She hands him his phone and tells him to call. But Juan says he did something else. He called Grace. At this point Perla gets angry and tells him that he needs to stop bothering David’s family. But Juan says that Grace “owes” him and that she is going to pay for this one.

León excitedly brings the package to Sonia. She reads it but she’s not happy! She thinks that León has betrayed her trust regarding her manuscript, as she didn’t want anyone else reading it. She says that he didn’t have any right to send it off to anyone to read. Sonia tells him that he should have consulted with her before sending this off and feels very betrayed because of it. She is embarrassed that anyone else has read this manuscript. León is sorry and didn’t mean to hurt her, but Sonia sees this as an abuse of her trust.

Susan comes to visit Luciana at the SB Vineyard. Susan shares that the work is hard especially without Lu and Marta, plus David is very distracted with the wedding. Luciana says she has to face the fact that David is part of her past. Susan finally tells Lu the real reason for her visit. She wants the plans for the Olive tree project that she drew up when she was still with David.

In the distillery, Tano asks what happened with Sonia. León says it went badly and explains how it went down with Sonia regarding the novel. Tano says “That’s the way it is with artists, they are very sensitive.” León shares more, “You know what hurt me the most? She told me that I betrayed her trust.”

In the kitchen, Carito asks what is wrong with Sonia as she looks so serious. Sonia says, “Señora Lilian was right. All men are the same.” “But why do you say that? What happened?” says Carito. Then Sonia says, “León abused me!” At this point, Carito looks very puzzled. But Sonia explains, “León betrayed my trust.” Finally Sonia explains what happened as far as the manuscript. Carito, after hearing this encourages Sonia to talk to León because he adores her and would want to make it all up to her.

Luciana tells Marta about how Susan came to visit and about the olive orchard project. She says that this was the last project she worked on with David and is was something that was their future. Now DisGrace has stolen it out of her hands.

Juan is on the phone with the gardener telling him that the workers shouldn’t leave because he is going to come back and will have the money to pay them soon. He is not going to let David have his property!

Fer comes to see Tano in the distillery and he’s telling her how much he has to work. She’s worried about him because he isn’t eating either because he’s so busy. Fer then says that she is going to make sure that someone brings him something to eat. She thanks him for all the work he is doing.

Susan comes back with the plans from Luciana and gives them to David. She says to him that she doesn’t understand how he can do this without Luciana.

Tano and Ramón talk later and Ramón tells him how proud of him he is. He asks Tano about how things are going with Fernanda. He’s a little worried about how the distance will affect them. Tano is going to really miss her.

Bobby comes to Fer’s room while Fer is messing around with her hairstyle. They talk excitedly about the wedding. Bobby tells her that there is a secret surprise coming to the wedding, but he can’t tell. Fer promises she will not tell anyone, so he excitedly tells her, “Cristiano is coming to the wedding!” Fer is a little bit puzzled about this and says, “Well if for some reason he can’t come, don’t be too disappointed.” But Bobby is already jumping for joy and says, “Tía promised me and with every promise, she always delivers!”

Miguel walks in on Luciana and sees her looking sad. He tries to comfort her as a friend and tells her it’s normal that she feel that way. He promises to handle things for her. She tells Miguel that he is incredible and doesn’t know what she would do without his friendship.

León comes to the kitchen wanting to talk to Sonia, but Sonia will have none of it. She says she is too busy cleaning up from after dinner. So he says, “Okay, I get it. You just don’t want to talk to me. So I’m leaving now. Excuse me for bothering you and good night.” He does this comedic backing away and says he’s leaving. After he leaves, Sonia finally explains to Carito what happened about the manuscript. Sonia tells Carito that she is afraid of what people will think of her novel and think she is corny.  Carito is surprised and can’t understand why Sonia isn’t excited. Carito says, “In these times, what people need to believe in is love. And if you can write about love, it’s because of how your love lives in León. Now stop being so prideful and go make up with León now.”

David walks into the bedroom and see Grace looking almost catatonic. He calls out to her but she doesn’t answer. He calls her again and finally after the third time she finally reacts. Her face is tear stained. He asks, “Are you well? Are you going to eat dinner? Do you feel badly?” She finally shuffles some papers around and tells him that all is well but she was just there looking at paperwork regarding the wedding. David asks if he can help her with something but she says, “No, it’s not necessary, I’m just tired.” David then says that he is very sorry that he has been so busy that he has been unavailable to help with the wedding planning. Suddenly the phone rings and DisGrace lets it ring. But David says, “Aren’t you going to answer that?” Grace says, “No, it’s probably someone from a wedding supplier and I will call in the morning.” Well David, now eager to help out, then answers the phone. It’s Juan! So he angrily says, “What the devil are you doing trying to call Grace?” Juan laughs evilly and says, “Why don’t you ask Grace instead?”

Yippeee Skippeee! Thanks, Cynthia! Let me tuck right into this! Back later!

Good job, Cynthia.

Even living at Motel 6 will deplete one's funds after a while. Perla should have cut and run a long time ago. How the hell will DisGrace get a million dollars?

Important people at the wedding? If that is the case and if my scenario plays out the humiliation will be so intense and the scandal so extreme people will talk about it for years. Everyone in DisGrace's cell block will laugh at her.... and turn on her for having murdered her sister.

More Later.

Cynthiiiiaaaa. How great to read your work this early. Better than cream and honey in coffee. Thank You.

I thought David, (a man, we think) should have seen a red flag the size of Texas when DisHorny suddenly was tired and going to bed without David.

A normal ballbearing man would wonder if she was practicing for being married. In the prime of his life David must assume that (SF) is partial compensation for putting up with her.

Sonia and Lion Cub: W T F Sonia? If she wants to play games Leon should play along. Let her know in no uncertain terms he did it out of love and only love, and then do not talk to her again. That San Francisco fruitcake is a mixed bag, kinda like a high performance motorcycle: Loads of fun most of the time, but can be a handful in bad weather.

I DO like the new 'House of Cards' DisGrace. And Lillian "Is there something I don't know, Grace.?" It is like watching "The Two Faces of DisGrace".

Perla: I always feel sorry for somejuan when they are just plain dumb, stupid, harmlessly nutty, etc. But when they do it on purpose, that is a different story. Stupidshit Perla telling NoJuan she will always be with him no matter what? I had hoped she might see the handwriting on the wall and jettison that sick bag of hate and envy, but she just can't. She vows to go down in flames with him. Just think she could be happily lollygagging around the do nuthin' vineyard, doing what she always did, nothing, and living in luxury instead of a virtual prisoner in Motel 6 and running out of 7-11 money. She was a nasty little shrew earlier though, and she is getting her rewards.

Thank you sooooo much, Cynthia. Uni's local signal flaked out massively for me last night, so I caught perhaps a third of this episode. OTOH, it resulted at one point in a frozen image of David's "stoic face" with [No Input Signal] over it...oh, lord, the laughing that ensued...

Seriously, though, between this and what I did see: was it just me, or did the writers apparently just give up and blatantly make Susan the audience analogue in this episode?

Carito bonding with Bobby and trying to talk Sonia down from her modestly melodramatic (but somewhat justified) anger at Leon pretty much finished her karma recycling AIUI: she's now officially the new Marta. Which probably also means she's no longer at risk of getting whacked; what that means for Perla at this point, I'm not sure.

Juan's land being foreclosed on...I can kinda fanwank that it was seized when the charges against him (and David's lawsuit, apparently) were filed and he fled, and it would have been okay if they'd said that or something similar, but of course they fast-forwarded right the fork past that. OTOH, it did lead to his second attempt to blackmail Graciela with the knowledge that she killed Lisa (and Graciela at least initially blowing him off, which actually makes sense with her track record).

In hindsight, though: where the heck is Dead Lisa's Plot Phone?

Motel 6 Urban? Yeah that's what I was thinking at the same time.

UA: you might well have raised the last truly important question left (or maybe one of two, next to "What happens to Juan and Perla?")--will everything come out at the altar for Graciela? On the one hand: if it does, yes, the public scandal would destroy Lilian and probably give us a relatively classical ending for our favorite blonde Terminatrix. On the other hand--though it might be unavoidable now under any circumstances--if Show waits that long to pull the trigger we're going to need a second indeterminate timeskip to get to the point where David and Luciana can finally get together, a la ECDLP.

Ah, the worm squirms! Oh rock-weilding hoe bout to get hers, and good! Dudveed will so totally fall for whatever syrupy sweet lie comes out of Gracie's face even though guilt is written all over it because he's STOOOOOPID! Just like Dud couldn't see any of the signs of Juan's betrayal and never noticed nary a discrepancy in the books and needed Juan to SCREAM in his face that he hated him and would destroy him, he will need DisGlorious to confess to him that she killed Lisa. Despite Dave's cranial density and the necessary delay of THE REVEAL, seeing DisindiGestion sweat like this is suh-weeeet!

“León abused me!” At this point, Carito looks very puzzled. But Sonia explains, “León betrayed my trust.”

Another subtle but fun comedic moment when Carito thought for the slightest moment that Leon had done that other abuse of Sonia. That was so funny!

And if you can write about love, it’s because of how your love lives in León. Now stop being so prideful and go make up with León now.”

Hmmm, if working in the Patron's kitchen nourishes latent wisdom and the ability to dispense sage counsel, how come Dave is so g.d. stupid: some of those vibes should, at least be present in the food? Well, Carito continues her rehabilitation. She is, indeed, redeemed!

With Thursday's show ending like this, I can't wait to see what we get today. . . .Oh, wait, DisGiveittome will just stroke and kiss Dud in the right places, the moment will pass and the wedding planning will continue.

Thanks, Cynthia!

Cynthia: You're awesome :)

Carito taking care of Bobby ? I hope she doesn't become Marta 2.0

Lila: Juan & Perla running out of $$$ at Motel 6 ROFLOL.

Bill C: Sonia the Cougar needs to get a grip! Leon the Cub is like WTH!

Kirby: Graciela getting cornered & when that happens, she's going to strike violently.

We'll find out what happens tonight!

I wonder do LuLu and Dis wear about the same size? IE would DisGrace's abandoned wedding dress fit Luci? Luci appears to be about a 5 or maybe a 7 but she looks pretty small. Dis looks to be maybe one size bigger.

If DG's got a dress, whether she makes it to the altar or not, that sucker ought to be ritually burned!

Not that it affects anything, but if Leon lets Sonia bully him, when he did everything with love in his heart, the end has begun. Once she realizes she has total control over him and his emotions, she will lose all respect, and eventually interest.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!!squeeeeee The fan is on , and stuff is hitting it.

Cynthia, thank you for another wonderful retelling of all the mayhem.

And the comments this morning..sooo good. "Dave, a man (we think) ...but maybe not a " ba!!bearing man." Kirby, you must have had a good sleep because you are up bright eyed and bushy tailed like your squirrels.

Well, I am off to have breakfast and start some chores. Later.

It was funny seeing Dave actually having to go looking for Grace because...well,GRace is just always THERE wherever Dave happens to be rubbing up against him and weaving that magical, mystical spell. Ha. Grace is a little.....eh...preoccupied with...eh..the wedding ..yes, the wedding...and ....well...rocks.

Again you shine Cynthia. Thanks

I wouldn't wish the Marta label on anyone but hope Carito can find her a nice guy. She's the only person on the show without at least one admirer.

She didn't fight it so must have known per her employment contract any work she did in David's employ belonged to him when she left. But I have a larger issue with the patron and will call Luciana today and offer pro bono to handle a sexual harassment suit against him.

The only reason I'm ok with Luciana hanging in there for David is to keep her away from Miguel. He circling but needs to be a bit more patient or Adolfo may not be ok with him bouncing to Luciana so soon after Erika's death.

I like Sonia and hope she becomes wildly successful but dumps Leon.

There look to be a lot of court time and FUNERALS coming down the pike. Maybe Carito can scare up a fella there.

And Tofie, you are right, Leon should dump that fruitcake and find a normal chick.

Hey Carito is available, as the vineyard people are not allowed to find anyone outside their immediate orbit, right?

Like dating your sister without all those birth defects annoyances.

Toodlepip.

New title...Dead People Walking and Dave ..just being DAve

Excellent Cynthia.

I missed all but the last few minutes so appreciate your filling in all the details in such fine fashion.

I must admit, I am totally curious about what is (or isn't) on Lisa's phone. For someone who is truly detail "obsessed", I'm surprised trying to find out what happened to Lisa's phone hasn't really seemed to have crossed Graciela's mind. Perhaps she thought the phone floated away in the river (not sure on this point).

And although I had thought Carito wouldn't survive, I now think she will as they are portraying her rather sympathetically. In a show where many of the characters seem to be regressing, she is one of the few who are progressing. Redeemed is right Lila.

I think Sonia will relent. Leon was wrong, but it's difficult not to forgive someone who has good intentions, even if they don't think things through.

In asking for a million, Juan seems to have severely overestimated Gracie's monetary success as an artist.

Graciela is now boxed in and there is no doubt she will fight, not flight.

Thank you Cynthia!

Diana

What a majestic eagle Kirby.

It makes me feel humbled.

Diana

As someone who once thought she could write romance novels Sonia's reaction bugs me, too. It is notoriously difficult to get published these days and this could be her Big Break. However, people used to be advised to not give up their day jobs until they've published at least three books.

In this age when almost nobody reads anymore that bit of advice needs major revision.

Huge difference when David sees Graciela upset or sad than when he sees Luciana. David sympathetically inquires and smiles to comfort Graciela and ignores or rages at Luciana.

Diana .I always feel warm and comforted by your comments no matter what the crazy characters are up to. you have such a good heart. I want to sit next to you in detention hall.

I think Juan just pulled that "one million" figure out of the air to shake and stir Grace up a bit. Ha. Go, Juan, Juan. I pictured him with his pinky finger at the corner of his mouth like Dr. Evil Mike Meyers in Austin Powers.

Urban,I commented before that an older history teacher at the high school I taught at wrote a steamy historical romance novel. It was pretty racy, and all her fellow teachers who read it said , "Oh my, Elinor, we had no idea. ...!!!" Another case of still waters .

Thanks again, Cynthia. "I guess they don’t go to court in Sonoma County and see a judge. Police officers handle it all here!" Right! Which leaves them very little time to fight crime.

Time jump... so Perla has been fretting and arguing with Juan for months? I'd say she's a lost cause, then. Not to mention that Juan has been sustaining his rage at white-hot level for all this time. Not easy to do.

I'm starting to wonder if Cristiano Ronaldo won't end up doing a guest spot on the show before this is over. Maybe David, seeing how brokenhearted his son is, will pull some strings and arrange a meet.

Interesting that Fer warned Bobby not to be too upset if CR doesn't show up. Does she sense something is amiss?

How are the police not tracing Juan's gardener's phone calls? Is he using a burner too?

I was so, so bored with the Sonia/Leon/manuscript thing. She's right to be mad, but we know it's not going to come between them permanently, and the additional drama is not necessary.

At one point, I wondered if the vests were somehow draining David's mental capacity. Now, I'm wondering if the vests weren't actually keeping his remaining intelligence from escaping.

Why does Luciana feel that Grace has stolen the olive orchard project out of her hands? It was David who wanted it. Not for Grace, but for himself (and his faaaaamily). I can understand griping that Grace will benefit from Luci's work, but she didn't steal this.

When Juan demanded ONE MILLION DOLLARS I half-expected to bring his pinky to his lips like Dr. Evil (the Austin Powers one, not Dr. Anderson).

Susanlynn: I SWEAR I didn't read your comment before I wrote mine! I swear on ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

Kirby: Honey in coffee? Hmm. As for Luci's and Grace's sizes, I think they are about the same. If we remember that the camera adds ten pounds (it really does) I'd figure them to be size 3 at most. (Actually, size 4. The odd-numbered sizes are junior sizes; adults usually wear misses' sizes.)

Bill: "a frozen image of David's "stoic face" with [No Input Signal] over it" omg, that is awesome. As for what you said about Susan being the audience proxy - this poor character has been written so badly. First as the panicking battered wife, then as the nervous girlfriend, as Luci's sentient diary, now this.

Tofie: "will call Luciana today and offer pro bono to handle a sexual harassment suit against him." Ha! You'd put two-thirds of the telenovelas out of business.

I wonder if Juan's blackmail request will force Grace to scale back the wedding to a garden party with cheese and crackers.

Julie..it is a little freaky the way you and I have mindmelded over the years here at caraycaray.

I, too, wondered about how many times in this show we have heard about CR. Perhaps , he is the product placement and will actually show up at some point. Have you seen that weird bust that some sculptor made if him that all the comedians are talking about?

I think that Dave's vest obsession was supposed to show us how uptight he is. The vests seem to have disappeared, so does that mean something? New day. NewDsve?

Julie..maybe we should do a genealogy search. Maybe we are related. Hey, we both liked Highlander, the TV series. We both had tonsil surgery. We both like pretzels. We have both been in detention hall with Kirby.

Julie..we both were puzzled by Kirby's honey in coffee. Que? Honey in tea right?

These are all hereditary things, Susanlynn. Were your peeps mostly French-Canadian?

I have seen the weird bust of Cristiano. I hope that guy has a sense of humor.

I am going to try honey in coffee.

I hope that we do get to see a Dave/Grace wedding. I'm up for a full-blown spectacle.

I want a Dave and Graciela wedding and when he tries to trick Luciana again she tells him too late. I don't want a Miguel and Luciana wedding.

I would rather a Mig and Lu wedding than a Lu and Dave wedding. I just can't think of any way that a Lu and Dave wedding (or any kind of romantic reconciliation between them) would sit well with me.

Julie..I would like to be French Canadian because I like Quebec, but my peeps were all German, English, and...wait for it... VIKING..which Hub says explains a lot.

I, too, want to see the BIG wedding that Distinguished has been planning..the whole thing, and then..POW BOP WHAM..Here's Juanny wearing that crazy, diabolic grin and ready to announce something to the assembled mass.

Tofie..I wouldn't mind seeing Miguel marry Lu and live happily ever after with pseudodad Adolfo in the magical , mystical vineyard of competency .

I wonder whether the writers were even tempted to have the David and DisGrace wedding happen without incident with a FF to Luciana marrying someone else and getting rich, then Bobby graduating from college or medical school, Fer marrying and having a baby, and finally...

...DisGrace having an accident that lands her in the hospital with a prognosis of Hopeless. With her final breath she says David, there is something I have to tell you. I killed Lisa so you would be rightfully mine. The vitch then dies grinning at his shocked facial expression.

What would then happen within the last minute or two?

Of course Cristiano Ronaldo won't be guest appearing in this crap. He is too good for it. He is an international soccer star!! They should of made the kid idolize a player from the USMNT. I be they are available.

I noticed Fer's advice to BooB about Christianooooo also. There have been other clues also of her awakening. Her softening a little on the hated LuLu and her longing for Marta's cookies.

I suspect the writers are doing a stealth softening on Furby.

Yeah, where David and DisGotBusted's Officiator says "Speak now or forever hold....", and

Juantoknowsomething walks in the double front doors with a megaphone and starts 'Splainin..

Urban, what would happen within the last minute or two of that is that I would destroy my TV. Then I would post something incoherent here. Then I would watch Pink Panther cartoons for the rest of the night so that my childhood imaginary best friend could comfort me.

I mean, really, what COULD happen next? David would feel like a fool, and then what? I don't think there would be any way for him to respond that I would find satisfactory.

I'd rather he didn't end up being a complete fool and regretting it for the rest of his life, but time is running out for him to wise up.

I THINK they said the finale will be May 8, by the way, so that recap will be yours, Urban!

USMNT is that Lucha Libre?

OMG, I hope I can do it justice. If I'd known that I wouldn't have posted this and written it up instead as an Alternate Ending. Of course, I'd have to think of what would happen next.

BTW, despite any anecdotal evidence to the contrary romance fiction is still going strong.

You are imaginative, Urban, but you may have to go waaaay outside the box for what happens next.

Like, Gracie doesn't die, and Dave has to put a stake through her heart.

Or David calls Lil and says, "You'll never guess what your daughter just told me!" And then he calls Luciana and says "hey babe, long time! So, what are you wearing? Oh, I... sorry, this is David. David Robles. From the vineyard? Spring of 2017?"

Or David decides that Grace is just talking crazy due to her brain shutting down, and shrugs it off.

Or when Grace dies, the curse is lifted and David turns into his old self, vest and all.

Actually I have something in mind but if I end up with the final hour it will depend on what other fresh hell is served up next week. Meanwhile I will have to prep for LC, which starts next Tuesday.

Evil Space Robots come and invade the wedding to take her back to her planet, explaining there was a recall. Software Bug.

Dave may have made some "Bad Choices" (Newspeak for Stupidshit) which will stay with him.

Like these Grammas with plastic boobs down around their waists and a garish "Make Love Not War" tattoo.

Ya Know, if Lil N' Grace could come up with NoJuan's Mill, then screw that incompetent vineyard, wedding and all. Use half of it to buy a nice place, and live off the interest on 500 Kay.

I want them to get married, and every night beginning with the wedding night realize Lisa is in bed with them.

They can see the depression in the bed, hear her breathing, and in the morning there will be a little mud and blood on the pillow.

The kids can start telling Daddy that Tia Grace is dressing up like Mommy, they saw her in the kitchen earlier.

Sonia and Leon's argument over the manuscript was dumb and both are to blame for it (Leon shouldn't have sent it to a publishing company without consulting her first, especially since he knows how insecure she feels about it, but Sonia shouldn't have overreacted like that either), but if there is a couple on this show that has proven to be truly in love it's them. What they need to do is talk things out and assume their part of the blame. This is no reason for two people who truly want to be together and have a good relationship to break up.

Thank you Cynthia!

I am still laughing that Juan and Perla are only now running out of money after living in a 3-star appearing hotel in a big city for months. How was the credit card not immediately frozen when the police put out the APB?

They better fix this Sonia/Leon thing ASAP.

Kirby, I thought that your Lisa's ghost scenario was imaginative. Maybe after that happens, Dave decides to go into the priesthood. It might be his only way out of the unholy alliance with Grace, Satan's boo.

I would be on board with Lisa's ghost joining them in bed. And Dave joining the priesthood. At this point, it's really not too outlandish.

Uh oh

LOL, oops!
(Just for the record, I prefer Fritos to Doritos. But I don't recall ever being allowed snacks in detention.)

The snacks are for the wait outside the office. I prefer Smartfood popcorn.

You are sharing Doritos while outside waiting for your sentence. They are smuggled in by one of the other reprobates.

!!

Shameful admission: I never technically went to detention or to the office. All I know about these things are what I've seen in movies. So they lock us up in the library and then we all get high and talk about our feelings, correct?

Julie..well, my high school didn't have detention hall, but the one I taught at did. It was one of the things I hated most about teaching. .. in the bowels of the school with twenty bad kids and you are the only sheriff . Sometimes, a few come looking for you the next day.

...and they want to give you flowers?

...yeah..that's what they wanted to give me. Luckily, when they finally found me , I was with the algebra teacher , a guy named Oogie who was an ex Marine. Semper Fi, boys.

Louie, where in the devil is she, I'm starvin.
Yeah me too. I thought I saw her a minute ago was a friggin Buzzard, though.

How long's she been gone?
I dunno. Long enough to catch one lousy fish, Sheezo, I'm dying up here and I can't fly yet.

Cynthia--Am thanking you for yesterday and today's recaps. They are a must read and have kept me up to date these past couple of days. I've been spending time with my friend who wanted us to be with her, so I didn't have time to watch on time, much less make any comments.

Here's what I came up with for last night's episode:
1. It actually took Juan and Perla a good long time to run through all the cash he had on time--I guess they stopped using the credit card, since he probably couldn't pay the monthly minimum and the hotel/motel, too. (If that's a motel 6, it's rather fancy--big room, King-size bed, coffee maker, etc.

2. Of course Gracie can't tell her mother why Juan wants a million dollars. Duh.

3. Set designer's budget was enough to procure dozens upon dozens of empty wine bottles, but nary a peso for a car.

4. Now I'm getting tired of all the Tano-FerBrat kissing. The actress must have asked Daddy-O to write it into the script, with plenty of close ups of her moving lips.

5. I can't help it, but ever since you folks told me who Jose Eduardo Derbez's mama was, whenever he's in a scene I see Victoria Ruffo instead. Dagnabbit you, guys, you ruined my Lion Cub-Sonia scenes. I did enjoy Sonia last night though--and the night before. A ray of dark sunshine in this otherwise dreary telenovela.

6. Carito's advice to Sonia last night, hit me like a rock on the noggin'. Hmmm. Creer en el amor? Where has the amor been hiding in the forkatta telenovela, huh?

7. With so few epi's left (and the boda only a week away), have they decided to switch brides at the last minute. Remember in EnDA, the bridegroom hit the dust and another one took over? Hey, didn't that also happen in TdA? The pity bridegroom doesn't make it and the real one steps up to the plate? Reversal of roles, maybe? One can only hope they DON'T.

NOW, on to the comments and REALLY enjoy myself (after the recaps, natch).

Hey look over here, is that her?

Better not be. I aint no vegetarian, and
That one's carrying a clump of grass.

Anita: "with plenty of close ups of her moving lips." I noticed that. I wasn't sure if I just thought it was weird, or if it really was weird. Wasn't it weird?

About the credit card, I can't figure out how that doesn't make Juan easy to find, but maybe he's using prepaid Visa/MC/Amex cards that he bought beforehand in case he'd need them. I don't think those can be traced to him.

I cannot wait to see what happens in tonight's episode. Desperate people do desperate things ,and I am anxious to see how the writers decided to wrap this story up.

I agree that the writers seem to be slowly changing Fern. She seemed unsure that Tia would actually come through on getting Booboo's favorite athlete to the wedding.

It will be interesting to see all the different reactions to the big news..Dave, Lilian, Fern, Booboo,Lu. Crying? Screaming? Rage? Disbelief? Shocked silence? All of those?

Thanks, Cynthia. Great job as always.

Is it possible Juan and Perla have outstayed their temporary visitor visas? It would be a hoot if Juan got caught up in an undocumented immigrant hustle with some of El Coyote's old buddies, who remember what he and Mark did to their friend.

I'm feeling bad for Perla though. She latched on to Juan since girlhood and can no more quit him than she can eating and drinking.

Something occurred to me about Fernanda's conversation with Bobby about Cristiano.

I was bullied in school when I was little, and didn't do much to defend myself. I just kind of froze. But when my sister started school and was bullied, I always jumped in to defend her. It seemed easy. I didn't worry about getting hurt or getting in trouble. I saw the threat to her and responded. (She wasn't being bullied by her little classmates. She was being bullied by one of my big classmates.)

It may be a personal thing, or it may be a female thing, or it may just be a human thing for some people, that it is easier to recognize and react to a threat when it is happening to someone else. Grace has manipulated Fer six ways to Sunday, and Fer doesn't seem to have noticed. But Grace tells Bobby a juicy lie and Fer smells it right away. (We hope.)

I hope this is what it looks like. I hope it's not just a red herring.

Niecie, do Juan and Perla really only have temporary visitor visas?? I thought Juan at least would have something more substantial than that.

Julie - Of course you're right. Duh, I was thinking Juan and Perla had fled to another country. But they're in San Francisco right? Which brings up another question. Why haven't the police been able to trace them by the credit card use?

Juan may know a thing or two about identity fraud. Maybe his credit cards are under a different name.

Julie....I think that you may be on to something with Fern being protective of her little brother and, therefore, able to see things a little more clearly. Big sisters are usually very protective. I think that she , especially, is going to freak out on Grace when the truthiness is revealed.

As to the kissing between Tano and Fern, the actress seems to be very enthusiastic about it. She reaches up and pulls his head down in that familiar basketball grip. She is either very dedicated to her craft or very into that young actor. I think it might be the second of those two possibilities.

Thanks for your comments everyone! I'm laughing at the situation of Juan running out of money because if you want to be frugal with your money, you DON'T stay in San Francisco! Hotels in the SF area are very expensive and there really is no such thing as less than $100/night. SF hotels are more like $300 and up even for Motel 6. He and Perla should have headed to Sacramento, where the prices on hotels are much cheaper. I can't even get a hotel for less than $100 per night in Santa Cruz. I booked a Comfort Inn for a weekend this summer and it will cost us something like $350.00. I can recommend a nice KOA campsite for them in Petaluma. They will need a tent though. LOL...

Niecie: I think Juan is supposed to be an U.S. Citizen. As for Perla, Juan probably made sure she has permanent resident status.

Susanlynn - I vote No. 2 too.

I'm no ingénue, but Tano and his hair are so cute. He also has a soothing voice. When I'm listening to the show but not necessarily watching the screen, I always look up when Tano speaks. Don't recall who nicknamed him the Fer Whisperer but that was right on the money.

Another OT heads-up: as per promos on Unimas earlier today, the scheduling monkeys are doing it yet forking again and La candidata has been pushed back to May 16.

Julie: I'm undecided as to whether Susan is one of the biggest signs of collateral damage from whatever the writers did/were forced to do/got drunk and decided was a great idea and couldn't take it back after the insane EP loved it. And this is with me giving her a partial pass, because Mar Contreras really has been doing a quietly good job--but much like how "David and Luciana together? Haha, fork that!" was drawn out far longer than it probably should, I can't help thinking Susan's drama period courtesy her abusive ex was either drawn out longer than it should have or just exhausted us all because it was turned up to 11 all the time. Her being an audience stand-in, or rather being such a blatant one, is more a sign of the critical flaw in the show: the lack of romance between the two protagonists.

Cynthia - HA! Maybe that's what it would take to get Perla to leave Juan - living in a tent!

Cynthia - Thanks for clearing up Juan and Perla's status. It is crazy that they fled but are still so close by.

Lol,Hey yall I haven't read the recap yet, but I wanted to say this to julie
And Kirby. On my way to work this morning, I thought about what Kirby was saying last night when he said "shots fired shots fired" and I thought maybe he was hearing shots outside his home. And this morning on my way to work I thought he was probably talking about the advance for tonight. I had to Laugh at myself. Oboy. See, this is where the Mind goes when there's constantly shootings being reported in the news. Thanks julie.

DY--My comment echoed yours, "I am still laughing that Juan and Perla are only now running out of money after living in a 3-star appearing hotel in a big city for months. How was the credit card not immediately frozen when the police put out the APB?" I just didn't carry it to the LOGICAL conclusion.

Besides that, in the first Motel scene where Juan gives Perla his credit card to use, wouldn't that alone have raised some eyebrows? Can I just give my credit card to anyone and they can use it?

Someone needs to tell me more about Credit-Card-Fraud-WhatNot.

WTF??? Can someone confirm these dates for me:

May 8th: Vino finale
May 16th: LC estreno

This is the worst juggling of dates I've ever heard of. And this after slicing and dicing MdN's last three weeks? What's their excuse now?

Cynthia--I love the idea of Juan showing Perla into her new digs--a two-person Eddie Bauer tent and all the props for his gal. Hope she learns quickly to cook on a two-burner propane Coleman. Shoot! Guess that wouldn't work. Set designers have run out of cash, too.

Urban, isn't LC on Unimas? We've been watching Vino on Telerisa.

It will be on UniMas, the network that butchered the last several weeks of MdN. That is, unless the came to their senses and decided to put it on Univision.

Anita, my boss at an old job used to give me her credit card to use at Staples all the time. (I don't remember whether I signed my name or hers.) You can definitely use someone else's card. I'm not sure of the logistics, but it used to be quite common (on TV/in books/movies) for spoiled teenage daughters to go shopping with Daddy's credit card.

May 8 is what I thought they said. Do we know if #141 is one hour or two? If it's two hours, then May 8 would most likely be the second hour of 141. That's not weird at all.

And even if 141 is just one hour, all that means is that we must be skipping one day next week. (TVGuide says it's on tonight.) Maybe soccer or something.

I don't know what the deal is with LC (I don't get unimas), but I think 5/16 is different than what they said before, correct? So they moved it? This kind of confusion is becoming more frequent with Looneyvision rather than less, and it truly makes me less enthusiastic about watching because I don't trust them any more to respect their own schedule, maintain the integrity of the programming they get from Televisa, or even air all of a given show's episodes.

In a market where gaining new viewers is a grueling battle, it seems really dumb to alienate the ones that they already have.

From what I can tell, the finale on Vino is two hours long at least.

Up until yesterday, AFAICT, all the promos for LC had it starting on 5/2. I'm at home today watching the final episode of Manana es para siempre (damn, show, you melted Lucero!), and at least two promos aired saying it was now due on 5/16. I have no idea what the hell happened, but it's kind of a sad running gag with Uni--or more so Unimas.

As for Juan and Perla having to rough it in a tent...honestly, I think Juan would (grumpily) be okay with it, but Perla would have a Fyre Festival level freakout. Flip side, that might well be the one thing that finally makes her turn on Juan...

It certainly is different; the original article I read said 5/2.

I thought that both networks were hacking at VEA and MdN so that their successors would have adequate time to build audience prior to Memorial Day Weekend. If the three weeks of slicing and dicing on VEA had not happened, the finale would have ended up on the Tuesday prior to Memorial Day Weekend, which would not have been good. If MdN had been left intact it would have finished on or about 5/7, which would not have been too bad.

I did explain a long time ago here that a former Univision employee told me that their contracts for the rebroadcast rights to these programs have very specific end dates, which is why some novelas had their finales airing on the weekend.

One more thing: The 25-year contract Univision had with Televisa for their prime stuff ends this year and will require renegotiation; this is probably still ongoing. This is going to play hell with what we see if Televisa plays the kind of hardball they regretted not playing back in the early 90s.

Prior to today Unimas had been announcing May 8th for the LC estreno; but today, they started showing the previews for LC with the May 16th date.

BTW, Univision showed some previews for VEA this afternoon that really "spoiled" some of the endings :-/

Bill, I watched MEPS too...yes, she was meeeeltiiing. I never thought she would come out of that alive, but as they say: cosa mala nunca muere (bad things never die).

Cynthia outstanding recap girl. O the
Anvils are about to fall, and they're
Fiery anvils. This is gonna burn. Bad.
That sad look on david's face speaks
Volumes. It's like "what the he'll am I doing myself?" Well he can't answer
That question until next week. Can you
Imagine goin thru life with that look
On your face? That's the grave he's put
Himself in, for the sake of his kids?
I'm sorry but the'd have to get over it, cuz momma gotta be happy. And tying
The knot with tio from the twilight zone ain't hitting it.Tia in his case.

Loin cub and Sonia still cute. They'll
Get over their little tif. Can't say
That For those other folks tho.

There have been times when I thought
Juan would hit perla, expecially when
She got in his face with her yelling at him about his bad choices. But he's
Very patient with her, surprisingly.
He can get the crazy look and she can calm him right on down. Stuff is about
To get psychotically crazy.

There's nothing Lucy can do but sit &
Wait. Im waitin with her.

Snap him outta that.

T H A N K☆Y O U MS C Y N T H I A

I am loving this new caged wild animal DisGrace. The look in those big ole round crazy eyes when she starts not getting her way is priceless.

I wonder if they have to put drops in her eyes or she just has that look. But her Cray Cray is bubbling to the surface.

It is going to be fun as the noose tightens and she becomes more desperate. I wonder if she would ever tell Lil in a fit of desperation hoping she could say it was an accident and hope Lillian would help her some how.

I can tell her beforehand that would not be a good plan.

"Grace, is there SOMETHING you're not telling me?" Ha !

"David you are the ONLY maaaaan I have ever been completely honest with and neeeeeever lied to."
Really Grace, you don't wear makeup either, Right? Another cow just flew over.

CORRECTION--
Unimas had been announcing May 2nd for the LC estreno (but changed it to May 16th today).

I had May 8th in my mind cuz Univision had been announcing that LDVDEC would start on May 8th
...and it'll be at the same time as LC. I'm trying to decide which to watch...problemas, problemas :-)

RC

I just remembered that May is a sweeps month, so that may explain some of the scheduling shenanigans. Don't be shocked if they move LC again to accommodate something else.

Yeah, that frye festival is a spectacular, super-glitzy, all-star fail. Alas, I misplaced my tickets so I couldn't even pretend to go.

And Lucero was awesome in MEPS. Yes she was.

Julie: What's Perla's last name ?

I heard something on the news about the Frye festival. That it was a big let down. A lot of the entertainment canceled and the food was cheese sandwiches. And they had tents instead of luxury suites. Some people paid $12,000.00.
That's A lot of money for cheese on
Bread with lettuce & tomato on the side. What exactly is a Frye festival?

May is sweeps month there? Here it's
February and november.

"Here" and "there" is the USA. Sweeps is February, May, July, and November.

That is why the big network shows have their season finales in May.

The Frye Festival was supposed to be an upscale cultural extravaganza in the Bahamas. It appears that the people who "organized" this event bit off way more than they could chew, since it was an epic fail in every way imaginable. (For example, they say there's no such thing as bad publicity, but I would argue that this is the exception that proves the rule.)

I mentioned the Frye Festival because I thought someone else here had mentioned it and compared it to VEA, but I can't find that comment now, so maybe I dreamed it.

Steve, I have no idea what Perla's last name is.

Oh for heavens sake. THere was a typo on the website where I read about the festival. It was the FYRE Festival. Fyre, not Frye. Sorry.

Steve. Bullet' It is French like Hyacinth Bucket'

Frye like in cheap cowboy boots?

Fyre like pants on fyre.

Thanks

Oh Shit DisGlock !

!!

I am only five minutes into the episode, and already I'm sorry I didn't pick up some wine on the way home. I think it's gonna be a long night!

Whatever I have to say about the quality of this TN, I can't deny that these last episodes are morbidly fascinating.

And btw... honey in the coffee... hellz yeah!

Honey is actually good for you. Refined sugar.....meh....

Yikes who needs lisa's phone?

Perla's phone is better

Uh, yeah! Damn.

So... much... stupidity... good thing I wore an explosionproof beanie this time.

Discussion header will be up in 10 minutes since it appears that some people can't hardly wait. :-)
