Vino el Amor, Lunes 4/3/17 Chapters 106 & 107: Sometimes Love is Not Enough / Hearts of Different Kinds

Chapter 106: Sometimes Love is Not Enough

We pick up with the closing moments of the last chapter, where Juan gloated at Susan and Luciana, calling them all failures and saying that their lands will be his shortly. [Refresh my memory, fellow flies on the wall, but didn't Juan barely make the grade back at university?] Miguel entered the scene to stop this, but Juan didn't hesitate to insult him and his sense of loyalty. Miguel didn't take the bait and neither did any of the ladies, although Susan and Luciana knew that David would be disappointed.

Carito went to the employees' quarters and León greeted her with a hug. She asked about Miguel and León told her he was most likely still at the wine competition. Marta came down the stairs to greet Carito, whom she had missed. Carito had missed everyone.

While Adolfo suggested to his daughter and her handsome novio that they celebrate and Erika sensibly said they couldn't declare victory yet, Luciana concluded that the one thing missing from their effort was David. [I think she has a point.] Had he been there they might have won. Ramón suggested that they relax and have a drink. Luciana began worrying again about how David would take the news. This was all becoming too much. Susan seemed to have done an about-face and suggested that if this was too much perhaps Luciana should look at the rest of her life not including David.

Adolfo left to catch up with some friends. Miguel went to talk to someone and Erika began to faint. Susan and Luciana saw this and ran over to help. They got her to sit down to catch her breath and she thanked them, asking them not to tell either her father or Miguel. They agreed to comply despite not agreeing with her wish. Erika lamented that their circumstances got in the way of being friends with Luciana.

Marta and León talked in the kitchen about the latest development in Gracie's relationship with Fernanda and Bobby. León didn't believe that there was anything genuine in her. They changed the subject to Luciana, wondering where she was. It wasn't like her to be late and she had not called. Ramon arrived on that note. Marta saw the look on his face and knew something was wrong. She asked what happened.

Luciana and Susan met with David in the distillery. Luciana told him that she didn't have such good news, that they had taken third place. David could not believe this, as Bodega Los Angeles had always taken first place. He asked how they would ever win the international competition if they only took third place.

Erika and Miguel went home, happy to have won first place, happy that Adolfo was celebrating with his friends, and happy to be together. She told him he gave her motivation and that because of him she is a better woman and a better daughter. They should be in her room by the next scene fragment.

David demanded an explanation, finally deciding that the presentation must have been inadequate. Susan said that a lot about wine is subjective and Luciana said she did the best that she could. They pointed out that the important thing was that they were going to the second phase of the competition. Susan mentioned that Juan was there and David began wondering if he had anything to do with this. Susan said she didn't know, didn't think so, and she had to leave to meet César for dinner. After she left Luciana asked about Fernanda. David told her she was not well, the exam did not go well, and that it was all his fault for having neglected her. He was working too much! Luciana told him this is not true and by working he was taking care of his children. He wasn't quite ready to see the truth in that.

León said that third place wasn't bad, but Ramon said that this was the first time they hadn't placed first. Ramon said they simply had to work harder. Marta said that this had been the worst year since Lisa died, but third place wasn't bad, they're still in the running to win the international competition. They were to stop whining and get to work. She also reminded the men that they failed to notice who had come home. Carito said she was glad to be back, apologized for having been a rude vitch in the past, then went upstairs to bed. Her tone didn't match her words and the others noticed it.

David said he thought that maybe Fernanda was right; that he had been selfish and thinking only of his own happiness. He did need to get the vineyard more productive and he needed to take the reins himself. She asked if that meant he didn't trust her and he said he did trust her, but he needed to take more control. This did not sound good at all.

Susan told César all about this over dinner. She was worried about David's attitude. [Someone needs to tell him that third place and going into the next level was not bad given what else had happened in the winery and the vineyard that year.] César thought that David was taking this much worse than he should have and this was all about what was going on with Fernanda. He would be able to put this into perspective once things improved with his brat. Susan then got a call from Gutiérrez who told her that his investigation implicated Mark in the ruined wine incident. He would need to talk to her and David personally. She thanked him and said she'd see him the next day. When she ended the call and told César, he said that should put Mark in jail.

The hiatus of Luciana and David's relationship just became another breakup; she said things had gone from bad to worse and she wasn't sure she could wait for things to improve. David was also becoming certain that Fernanda would never accept them as a couple. [Do we need to say more here?]

Juan gloated about David “losing” the competition, lamenting only that he couldn't see David's face when he got the bad news. He gloried in the misery he caused Luciana, Susan, and Ramon. Perla gloated right along with him. Juan was so sure that by the time he saw David again he would be so miserable he would sell his lands for nothing. [In the meantime, why isn't he living near his olive grove and working on it?]
Juan left the room and Perla took a call from Carito, who told her that Miguel was going to accompany her to the police station in the morning to bring charges against Mark. She told her not to say anything to Juan about this, especially about Miguel's involvement because she didn't want any trouble.. Perla called her “my sister” and said there was nothing to worry about. Carito said she hoped so, but her tone said she expected there would be. Perla ended the call and told Juan that Carito was going to see Gutiérrez the next day. He seemed satisfied.

Luciana told David that they have been fighting more lately and that everything she had done for him was for love. “But sometimes love isn't enough.” She left him alone in the office.

Marta and León talked about how Luciana must feel about the competition results and the effect this would have on top of all the issues with the resident spoiled brat. León pointed out that despite anything that Gracie said Fernanda knew that the one who took care of her and loved her was Marta. She said she hoped Fernanda would realize this. Luciana arrived and told them that things were worse yet; she had just had a fight with David. Marta was shocked and started to ask questions, but Luciana didn't want to talk about it. She just wanted to go upstairs to bed.

David sat in his distillery office, handing the leather bracelet. Gracie sashayed in, saw his mood and asked “What happened?” David explained that due to what all had been happening things did not go all that well. It was not Luciana's fault, but his because he had not been there. His immediate priority was going to be Fernanda since his children come first. As usual, Gracie said he could count on her and she invaded his space once again by touching first his shoulder, then his face, then kissing him. Sadly, he looked as though he had no idea what that meant.

The next morning Miguel explained to Erika that he was escorting Carito to the police station. This would solve the problems with the accusations against him re the immigrant smuggling. She was alright with this and kissed him goodbye. However, as soon as he was out the door she sat down on the couch and took out her inhaler.

Gracie must have Joseph Goebbles on her family tree because she lived by his dictum about telling lies often enough to make them true. At breakfast she told Fernanda and Bobby that Luciana broughth down the vineyard's prestige at the competition. They're entering the next level “but not the way your father wanted.” Lillian said that this was what they should have expected from a girl with no experience [said by she whose only knowledge of wine was drinking too much of it]. Gracie went on about how this was going to cost more money and more work and make Fernanda fall further down the priority list for her father.
Bobby defended Luciana, saying that she works hard and knows her stuff. Gracie said that this might be but their father was not in good spirits. They would have to respect that. Fernanda looked as though David had regressed to the depression of two years previously.

Adolfo was pleased at hearing that the accusations against Miguel were finally being addressed. He and Erika talked about the competition. Erika thought that David's absence affected the judging and that Luciana had otherwise done a good job. It wasn't fair in her eyes. Adolfo told her he was very proud of her.

Miguel arrived at the employees' quarters and was greeted by Susan and León. He told them why he was there and while he waited for Carito Susan told him about the conversation with Gutiérrez. The acid that ended up in the wine had been shipped to the location where they knew the immigrants were being kept. Miguel looked puzzled for a second, then said that while this sounded logical he was still sure that Juan was involved in this. Carito was at the top of the stairs and heard at least that much.

David found Luciana in the cava, knowing that when things were bad she would be there. She said that this is true because that was a place of happy childhood memories and where she goes when she has to think about important things in life. She said that perhaps she was not the right woman for his children. He told her that wasn't her fault. She said that she had no children so no experience of being a mother and while she would have liked to have a family with him it could not be at others' expense. For all that they love each other she could not take any more blame for anything that went wrong in his family. She didn't want to see Fernanda take more pills or for him to be sadder about that. She also said she didn't know how much longer she could stay, perhaps until after the competition is over. She wanted to make sure the vineyard was on track to a good future. David seemed to understand but looked visibly sadder.

Carito came down the stairs and hugged Miguel a little too closely. Susan watched her with suspicion as Miguel told her that she had to tell the entire truth. He was concerned that she would leave out information about Juan because Perla was her friend. She told them that she was there because of what Mark did to her. Susan had a short, silent freakout and Miguel told Carito she had to tell everything to make sure that Mark ended up in prison.

Mark called Juan to tell him that everything was ready, but he needed a favor in return. He wanted him to get the police off his back. Juan told him this would not be easy and Mark brought up that Gutiérrez and he (Juan) were friends. Juan was non-committal and Mark yelled “Don't think; do something!”

Mother and daughter succubi talked in the main house kitchen over the usual red wine [Isn't it a little early in the day for this?] and Gracie said she was worried about David. Lillian was seeing similarities to David's worst moments. Certainly the fact that a former employee of his was now working for the competition wasn't helping the situation. Gracie went on about Anderson being hard at work toward the goal of convincing David that she and Lillian were the solution to all his family problems. Lillian mentioned the importance of Gracie landing David.

David went into the TV room where Bobby hugged him, saying he was sorry. He understood why his dad didn't make it to his game. He also said that the competition outcome wasn't Luciana's fault. David answered that he knew that. Fernanda apologized, too. David told Fernanda that they were going to start from scratch and help each other. They group-hugged but David looked as though he were facing his execution.

Carito didn't want Miguel to leave her alone with Gutiérrez, but he had to. She finally told him she would be alright and Miguel left them alone. Gutiérrez told Carito she had to trust him. She asked if she could explain in Spanish and he told her she could. [Shouldn't there be an interpreter present here? We don't know how much this man really understands based on past observation.] She told him she was investigating what had happened to her cousin when she found out that Mark was trafficking in immigrants. Miguel had been helping her and when Mark found out he kidnapped and abused her. She was afraid. He told her she would have 24/7 protection. He told her she was brave. She told him that she wanted to help her countrymen who came to the US for a better future, but for many of them their future looks like hell. She wanted people like Mark stopped. She also said that Juan and Perla were not involved [which to a good cop like Bernal on MdN is a clue that they are].

Fernanda told Anderson she felt bad after starting the pills. She was tired and nauseous all the time. He told her that this was temporary and that it would take about a month before the pills would work they way they were supposed to. She said this was making her too tired to study. He dismissed this as the least of her problems. She had to get better before she could go on with life. She said she didn't feel good in their sessions. He said she needed a family. She'd be happy if she had her father and her aunt with her all the time.

Luciana told Susan It Was Over and Susan said It's For The Best and Luciana wondered why she was so sad if that was the case. Marta came in with the laundry and realized something was wrong. Luciana told her “I've ended it definitively with David” and asked why life was so cruel. Marta gave her the old line about God doesn't throw us things we can't handle and someday this will all just be a memory. [Sorry, Marta; this wasn't helpful.]

Gracie got a message congratulating her. Josélo said she needed to come to San Francisco to meet with a buyer who wanted to meet her. She refused saying her family came first. Before she was finished with him Fernanda came in saying she was not feeling well enough to go to her gallery exhibit. Gracie reminded her that she had told her she had an “impossible love” and that it was her father.

Fernanda looked at her in dazed shock.

Chapter 107: Hearts of Different Kinds

Part One (Part Two should be up before 12 Noon EST):

Fernanda looked and sounded as though she previously had no clue that Gracie had the hots for David. She asked since when and Gracie lied, saying that things changed during the trip to Mexico [a lie big enough that she couldn't look her drugged niece in the eye] and that after that trip she thought they would make a great family, yadda yadda yadda. She grinned at Fernanda [who might be blinded by those cheap earrings Gracie wore] and Fernanda mentioned that Anderson said that she needed someone like her.

Marta was true to form telling Luciana that sometimes letting go of someone we love is an act of love. This is not helping Luciana at all. She told her mother and Susan that she was planning to leave the vineyard after the competition was finished. Marta said to count on her for help [Yes, but what kind?]

Gracie asked Fernanda what she thought of that and Fernanda said this was strange. She would prefer her over any other woman and if her father would be with her she would accept it. Gracie loved this and said so. “You're the only one who understands me,” she said, etc. Gracie went on about how she would take care of her and see that she got everything she wanted and go to the university of her choice and she would help her study. Fernanda responded exactly as she wanted and Gracie rolled her eyes and sighed silently as she hugged her puppet.

David and César talked about the pending arrest of Mark. His involvement in the illegal immigration was no surprise to David and he would be happy to see the end of this. He then told him that it was over with Luciana, which César clearly thought a mistake. He told him that Luciana wasn't the woman his children needed and he therefore could not be with her. César asked what he was thinking of doing. He answered that for the moment he could not make Gracie leave because Anderson said that she was Fernanda's maternal figure. [When will either of these men see that there is nothing maternal about this succubus?] César asked if she really was the woman his children needed and David said “I don't love her but I need her to be close to the children.” César asked him if he wanted Gracie for something else.

Over coffee in a restaurant Carito told Miguel about her meeting with Gutiérrez. She told him she did it for him so he would no longer be under suspicion. Gutiérrez wanted to talk to him and to David about this. She said that Perla and Juan were not involved, but Miguel didn't buy that. Carito said that Perla was her only real friend [which proves how stupid she really is]. She wanted all this to be over. Despite his impatience with her blindness about Perla Miguel told her that when this was all over he'd find a job opening for her at the Ballesteros' vineyard.

David told César that he wasn't saying he wanted to be with Graciela, but that he wanted her to stay for Fernanda. César said that this was an entirely different thing and Fernanda should be grateful for it. César told David that it would take a good amount of time for him to take Luciana out of his heart. David said she would always be there but now he needed to concentrate on the competition and his children. He asked César whether he had talked to Dr Ramos. César said that it was not a good idea to medicate Fernanda and David said they had to get her to talk to him. In the meantime they had to accept Anderson's diagnosis. César said that it would not be good for Fernanda to continue for long on those medications because of the risk of dependence. David agreed, which meant that they needed to get her to talk to Dr Ramos. [Good luck with that. Gracie has been a better guard dog than Cerberus.] David asked César about his personal life and César said that it was getting better. Susan was calmer and everything will be fine once Mark is captured and dealt with. David added that he was sure Juan was behind all of this.

Gracie gloated to her egg donor in the kitchen about her latest little victory. Lillian was already indulging in her favorite liquid diet [When did red wine become True Blood?] when Gracie told her she had fessed up to Fernanda and that Fernanda was good with it. Lillian thought this was the best news yet and Gracie joined her in drinking the blood of David's grapes. Lillian asked her how she planned to deal with Josélo if he continued to bother her. Gracie told her he would not be a problem and not to worry. Luciana entered looking for Marta and Lillian told her she was not there. She then ragged on how shameful the competition result was and that it was all her fault. She didn't get a rise out of Luciana, who said she gave it her best and to leave her alone. She walked out, leaving neither Lillian nor her spawn to try to stick the knife in again.

Perla asked Juan if he wasn't the least bit worried. Juan told her that Mark was his partner and he needed him to get certain things done. His plan should be effective. [We'll see.]

Fernanda found Tano in the distillery. They had missed each other. She told him that she and her aunt were closer than ever and Tano was happy for her [We flies on the wall all know that he knows nothing of Gracie's true nature]. He was surprised when Fernanda said that Gracie would be with David and she was going to help. He told her that you can't make another person love you. She recognized that he would support Luciana. Tano denied this, saying that her father's priorities right now are her and the competition. Fernanda told him she didn't like taking the pills because they made her tired and sad. Seeing him made her feel better. He realized this but also that he could lose his job and have to leave if they were caught together. “So your job is more important than me? Then it's better that I go and not bother you any more.” She walked out. [Tano, when are you going to realize that this immature brat is unworthy of you?]

David told Anderson that he and Luciana broke up, having no hope of the possibility of being together in the future. Anderson asked him how he felt. He said he felt bad. They thought things had been improving but that was not the case. Luciana accepted that this was for the good of his children. Anderson came back to how critical a moment this was for Fernanda. David questioned the medication, saying that Fernanda's happiness is the most important thing at the moment. He's had problems with the vineyard but was starting from scratch with Fernanda. Anderson said this would take time and also he could realize opportunity with someone else. Sometimes the answer was right in front of them and they don't see it.
David looked sad, but somewhat questioning.

Juan was pacing because they had heard nothing. Perla told him not to worry, but Juan said he didn't trust Carito. Carito arrived to tell Perla she did as they talked about. She had ratted Mark out over everything and them over nothing. Juan said that this had better be the case because she would be sorry if she hid anything from him. He left the two mean girls alone.

Erika was in the study working on the computer. She had the inhaler in her hand and she looked at it with resignation before placing it on the desk and a document on top of it. Miguel arrived and told her that all went well and Carito talked to Gutiérrez. He was confident that this would have a good outcome. She told him she was working on the next presentation and he got up from his chair to look at it. He saw the inhaler on the desk and asked about it. She said she was alright. He said that he wanted her to be well and have nothing to worry about. She smiled.

Susan and Luciana were working in the distillery when Sonia arrived to fetch them for David so he could discuss her working on the presentation with them. She admitted not being a professional writer but she loved to write and wanted to help. [In point of fact, since the wine is named “Romance,” Sonia is the perfect person for this.] They were happy for her help; Luciana handed her a folder with information. She went off with it. Luciana then told Susan that once they win she would be leaving.

David thanked Anderson and told him that he wanted Fernanda off the medication as soon as possible. The faux doctor said “We'll see” before he left. David sat down at his desk, looked at the leather bracelet, and thought of Luciana.

Part Two

Susan told Luciana that although she will miss her but she agreed with her mother, that it would be better for her to find someone else. [Frankly, I'm not sure that Marta really wants Luciana to be with anyone at all.] She was sure that Luciana had the strength to face this. Luciana asked her to check on the irrigation construction because she did not want to see Miguel. It was the right thing to do but she didn't think it was fair to lose her best friend [Luciana, someone should have warned you that trying to turn a best friend into a significant other carries that serious risk].

Lillian threw her weight around with Sonia, correcting the shopping list (to add meat to please David) and telling her that Gracie would supervise the menu from that day forward. Sonia thought that odd and Lillian said “I'm paying your salary.”
But it's Senor David who pays me.”
It's the same.” [Really, Lillian? We thought you less delusional than that.]
Sonia went on to ask about the competition and Lillian said “Nothing. Fernanda is not well, don't you notice these things?”
Sonia told her that she had lots of things to do and started talking about helping with the wine presentation, but Lillian didn't let her get far enough to say anything real about it. She dismissed all this as gossip and told her not to bother her with it. She walked off and called Adolfo to congratuate him.
Adolfo was in the study with Erika when he took the call. He invited her out for that evening to celebrate. She accepted. When he ended the call Erika told him he could do as he wanted but she wouldn't approve.

Gracie ushered Anderson into the study to tell him how well things were going. She told him she outed herself to Fernanda. The girl was surprised but pleased and will be on her side. He buttered her up more by saying that he thought independently that she would be the perfect mother for Fernanda. She told him he needed to say whatever it took to convince David. He said that David had terminated his relationship with Luciana so it was just a question of time. The succubus looked like she was in a trance.

Miguel told Erika he was concerned about her health and she was dismissive of the inhaler. He said she shouldn't be annoyed with him over this. She said she had those since she was a child and was much stronger now. Susan arrived with documents and Erika invited her to stay for lunch. She declined and Erika left to see to the kitchen staff. Miguel asked about how everyone was and she said bad, as the competition result was a surprise. Worse, because David and Luciana ended their relationship. He looked surprised.

Fernanda was in the TV room crying. Gracie found her and asked what was wrong. She told her it was because she fought with Tano. Everything was going downhill from the wine competition to David's mood, to her own, and with Tano. The medication and the therapy weren't making anything better. Gracie said that everyone was supposed to help her feel better but that maybe her father was right. Fernanda said Tano made her feel better, but she didn't want to have issues with her father. She started crying again and Gracie told her that David needed to concentrate on work right now and she could always come to her. As Fernanda leaned against her Gracie was clearly enjoying her distress.

Susan told Miguel that she was sure Luciana was strong but that she seemed vulnerable now. She needed everyone's help, especially his. Miguel didn't want to get involved as he didn't want to have problems with Erika. He didn't even know what he could do. Susan said he should listen as a friend. His relationship with Erika was solid and he had nothing to worry about. She embraced him briefly, telling him to think about it, before departing. He did not look happy about any of this.

Gracie said she didn't mean to talk about herself an Fernanda said that the last few days must have been hard for her [Are they really having this inside-out conversation?]. She said it was alright because she was spending time with her and her brother. She promised to give her her cell back so she could talk to Tano. She also suggested a tutor or class for her to prepare for the exam again. Fernanda was open to that. She then told her she was tired and wanted to rest. Gracie kissed her before she left the room and wore a contemptuous smile behind Fernanda's back as the girl walked out.

Luciana was trying to get an order filled for an exclusive restaurant and Tano appeared distracted. She told him he had to pay attention and he apologized, saying there was an issue with Fernanda. He told her how the girl had been angry that he was short-changing her with attention because of work. Luciana told him that Fernanda needed attention and love but also to understand that work was a priority. Tano said she was probably angry with Fernanda because she was the reason she and David broke up. Luciana said that wasn't really it; it was that Fernanda and Bobby need their father's attention. She still felt that Fernanda liked her even if she never got back together with David. [WTF???]

Juan was in Gutiérrez' office, saying that he was happy at how things were going. He offered to help catch Mark. Gutiérrez looked suspicious at his eagerness.

León found Luciana and asked her to come with him into town. Tano took the boxes out [Is that all he ever does?] and León told Luciana he was worried about her. She was bothered by how they did in the competition. They all had put all their love into producing that wine and she felt that the [non-]failure was her fault. León said that David's absence looked strange to the judges, so that was the problem. Luciana told him she and David had ended their relationship once and for all and that she would leave once the competition was over. Their mother was in agreement with this.

Lillian complimented Adolfo's new wine, saying it was no wonder that he had won the competition. He thanked her but said that David's wine was also excellent. Lillian said that David had neglected the vineyard thanks to family problems with the children. She also blamed Luciana for her lack of experience. She sounded a little drunk and looked more so. Adolfo said that his daughter had Miguel's help and he was an excellent worker. He also said that David's absence cost credibility with the judges. “But family comes first,” Lillian said [like she knows what that really means]. Adolfo said that the international competition would determine the market for the next year and he was going to be prepared. He then asked what happens to them after that. Lillian thought on her feet... and got up on them, saying that with everything that was going on at home she couldn't think about anything else. She said “Very good wine!” and walked out without giving him so much as a kiss on the cheek. [Really, Adolfo, you can do so much better.]

León and Luciana ran into Miguel in town. After the preliminary greeting León left Luciana and Miguel to talk. He gave his regrets that things didn't go as well for her at the competition and mentioned Susan's visit about the irrigation. She was uncomfortable, telling him that he had told her not to come to the Viñedo Santa Barbara. He felt he had no other choice. They reconciled this difference and she told him she needed a friend. They hugged briefly and she told him about the breakup and her plans to leave. He told her he hoped she wasn't doing that out of spite, but she said she was doing this for her own good. She looked like she was going to cry and they hugged. He looked somewhere between concerned and said.

David was working in the cava and Gracie arrived to interrupt him. She told him that Fernanda was better and studying. She tried the wine and said she loved it. He said he was starting from scratch with everything, his family, the vineyard, and his life. She asked what he meant and he told her that Luciana would be leaving after the competition. She said he could count on her help, as always. She then told him that Fernanda wanted them to be a couple. Oh, she told her that this wasn't possible but wouldn't it be a good thing for her?

Thank You Urban.. Up all night?

An hour of Lyin and Cryin,............ I thought I dozed off and my exwife came back.

DisGrace is DisGusting. Tells FerBrat her big secret, then runs and tells David it was Fer's idea. I didn't realize until last night that Fer IS whacked out on some kind of meds. You could really see it last night.

DisGrace and Lil and Dr. Evil crossed the line there. Some of these other machinations to snag David are bad enough, but drugging a kid? That makes me look up some of the old medieval tortures for ideas. People back then seemed to have a certain 'knack' for extracting the utmost misery while not extinguishing life.

And not to give anything away and get in trouble,(but I don't think the Vice-Principal is here yet) but MY post-show previews looked like a dragnert newsreel last night. Yowzers. Must see TV. Are we closer to the end than I thought? My notes say about 38 episodes or so to go.

Urban: Marvelous.

Your razor sharp wit and observations were on fire: “said by she whose only knowledge of wine was drinking too much of it” (Ha!) and “David was also becoming certain that Fernanda would never accept them as a couple. [Do we need to say more here?]” Nopis.

“Susan seemed to have done an about-face and suggested that if this was too much perhaps Luciana should look at the rest of her life not including David”. Et tu Susan? Blech.

“He asked how they would ever win the international competition if they only took third place”. Ummm, how about if you had bothered to show up?

There were several clear cut winners last night – Adolfo, Erika and Miguel. The biggest losers were Luciana and Fernanda. “everything she had done for him was for love”. Yes, it was and David threw it away. Fernanda looked alarming. Can no one see she is drugged??

I wanted to reach through the screen and give David a good throttling. He saw how upset Luciana was but instead of being loving and supportive, he spewed on that he should have been involved, he should have been there to save the day. Really David? Your ego is astonishing.

“She told him he gave her motivation and that because of him she is a better woman and a better daughter”. A loving parent child relationship, sadly, Erica and Adolfo are one of the few here.

Less determined women would have felt defeated and given up on the golden goose long ago. Yet Graciela remains laser focused. Her impeccable timing and ability to prey on the weak have served her well. All is falling into place and if David isn't extremely careful, she will lure him into a compromising situation which will likely have Fer's blessing. David isn't afraid to stand up - to the woman who loves him. Yet, to the woman who is hell bent on destroying his family - he says nothing. Where has the wary David who seemed to understand Graciela's ultimate goal been?

The hug Luci gave Miguel seemed to give her great comfort. She loves her friend. If it's more than platonic, I can't say but it certainly looked that way. tofie??

Kriby, I think there are 140 episodes. I thought the Uni scissors were at work at least a few times last night. Could be wrong but things seemed disjointed. Well, more so than usual!

UA, thank you for the excellent recap.

Diana

Oh, and I think there was an interesting scene with Sonia, Luci and Susan.

Sonia sauntered into the office, and I believe she offered to help with the next presentation. Susan seemed a bit skeptical (and a bit condescending), but Luci seemed to accept the offer.

Someone who understood exactly what happened, please add.

I can't think of anyone who could add more than the sexy, sly, seductive Sonia.

Diana

I just got the alert about the scissors. This is both ridiculous and insulting, especially in the final weeks. If they had done this 40 episodes ago it would not have been that bad, but when I think of what they did to PSMA I could scream.

Be back in a while with what is missing.

BTW, did anyone watch Mi Adorable Maladicion? Opening episode is quite riveting.

I'm sorry, but David is just too stupid to be interested in. Good luck with your prize DisGrace, I'm not sure what you are getting short of a bunch of shirts and vests, a size too small and a pile of unused razors.

Master Boo-Bee is still my favorite.

Kirby: Carito hugging Marta & Co., was sweet! Hopefully, she can move to the Good Guys alliance & stay away from Perla & Juan.

Yeah Steve, but she lied like a rug last night talking to Gut. That must have been why she was so nervous, lying to the popo ALWAYS gets you in jail, which is where the lying little bitch belongs. She had a golden opportunity to do the right thing, and like everyone else in Sonoma California, chose not to

Diana, Sonia offered her writing talents on the next wine presentation. She has been writing her romance novel about Marta, remember. She told them she is of course, not a professional writer, but she does love to write, and she had cleared it with Duvid and offered her help. Susan was reluctant, but Luci thought it couldn't hurt. She gave Sonia what they had so far, and raised an eyebrow when she left.

Thanks Kirby!

I have full confidence in Sonia. One of the few bright lights (and bright bulbs) here.

Diana

Well Sonia will have the bottle and the cork riding off into the sunset and some of those airplane size bottles popping up in 9 months, but she does have a creative side.

I can not understand how she and Leon have not gotten any farther along than a brother/sister kiss in all this time. Sonia is a pretty passionate gal. Lion Cub should go to GNC and buy one of everything they have, stop at Walgreens for a bottle of Captain Morgan and take her out for a grownup date.

I like those two together, maybe better than even Bobby and Summer.

If/When David finds out Dr. Evil has been drugging his precious daughter after his license has been revoked for just that, he has a license to kill the worthless fart.

Thank you so very much, Urban! Gracias! I can't hang out til later and haven't read comments yet but can you or somebody help me out here.

This wonderful recap contains scenes that I didn't see on my Xfinity recording of last night's episode. I don't have time to spell them out but one thing comes to mind and that is that the scene of Grace revealing the "impossible love" was far from the last scene!

Pardon me if others have covered this above but what episode or episodes did you recap from and what episode are we on? If they are slicing and dicing, I think I'd prefer to watch where you're watching! What's your viewing source, Urban? I'm loathe to ask because I've seen sites "coincidentally" shut down after someone cited them.

Hope to pop in later! Thanks loads!

Did anyone else notice how happy Marta was at the news that Luc and Dave were done forever?

I thought she was going to start moon walking and turn a couple back flips. She could hardly contain herself. Looked like Luci saw it too. She is now on team Gracie which will be fun in the end.

Lila, send me an e-mail.

I'll post the first half of 107 when it's finished and continue on. I hope that other viewers get vocal about this because slicing and dicing the last weeks is a mortal sin in our world.

For Kirby, regarding Leon and Sonia:

If Univision doesn't chop their scenes in the last 38-40 episodes there's a lot to see about them yet. Don't worry. It will be a pity if their storyline is affected, because honestly their love story is the one thing that is truly well-written in this TN. They were my reason for watching when the show was airing in Mexico.

Awesome UA.

"Ramón suggested that they relax and have a drink"

Juan was a hoot with his taunt, congratulating their third place finish.

Diana, I agree it is platonic love Luciana has for Miguel but that will flip with a trip to San Francisco but so long as Erika is around it'll remain so. Erika lamented she and Luciana could have been friends had Miguel not been the wedge between them. Kinda sets it up for Miguel to have Erika's breathless blessing one day.

I did Kirby. Marta was happy Luciana wouldn't be step mommie to Fernanda and Bobby. I also doubt she'll leave if/when Luciana does and if I were Luciana strike out on my own without her part time mom.

I hate it when a could be galan is nothing more than an idiot. David isn't a victim he's lazy and stupid and a horrible parent. He outsources everything including parenting. The bleach blond deserves the bleach blond and I'm encouraged she'll have him.

A quick thank you, Urban.Last night , I was surfing between DAncing with the Stars and The VOice, and I forgot all about VIno. I did surf into it at the end.

I now hope that Perla has a gigantic anvil hanging directly over her greedy, shallow, clueless head.

Kirby, you are just asking for detention. I will stop at the grocery store on my way home from work today to get the large, economy size bag of Doritos.

In the next episode, I'd like to see everyone in a vest.

Part 1 of 107 is now up.

Really, I don't mind "double" episodes if I get a warning. I'm just glad this isn't happening with MdN.

Susanlynn: Karma is coming for Perla & Co.,

Looking like we're in the Home Stretch!

UA: Carito: Karma gunning for you too!

Thanks, Urban! Thanks for clearing up the confusion and this effort above and beyond the call of duty! It sucks that Uni does this! Okay, work server is down so I can read ch. 107 without guilt!

You know, I think that SOnia's skills at romantic prose could turn the tide and help win the big, international award. Perhaps, she and Cubby will cosplay (don romantic costumes ) for the next competition. He as a dashing, swashbuckling pirate, and she as a beautiful damsel in distress. She will make vino sound very romantic and sexy. ....a loaf of bread, a jug of vino, and thou...

P.S.. does anyone else want to punch DR. Evil in the face?

I hope there's a TV in the principal's office.

Free shipping

No! I want to punch DUH-vid in the face! As tofie noted above, DUH-vid is NOT doing his job! Maybe he never has! I think Lisa and Marcos were the brains and heart behind this vineyard! His depression was just a minor blip in the downfall of LA vineyards: the real losses were Lisa and Marcos and, hell, maybe even Juan. Juan, Perla, Mark, Lil, and Suckya-bitch and Dr. Evil are doing their jobs and masterfully! They are forking DUH-vid out of his lands, and his love and now that Uni is chopping up the last weeks, I really don't give a damn!

DAMMIT! Well, there's one, I guess I do!

Urban, really thank you for making sense of that chopped up mess!

Thanks UA. I was just trying to figure out the episode numbering. So they combined 106 & 107, interesting. It explains why the Mexican episode I just used for my draft was numbered 108! We'll see if they chop some more.

Thanks for this, Urban. There were so many details in here that I didn't see last night, and I really appreciate you covering all of them.

Thanks, Uni, for gouging big meaty chunks out of your ultimas semanas. Where the hell were your scissors a month or two ago when nothing was happening?!?!?!

"Susan seemed to have done an about-face and suggested that if this was too much perhaps Luciana should look at the rest of her life not including David." I can understand this about-face in light of the way he reacted to Fernanda's test scores. If he's going to get like that every time he's disappointed, it might be time to move on.

"[David] asked how they would ever win the international competition if they only took third place." Gee, he's right. Obviously, it's totally hopeless. They should all just give up, stay home and cry in their wine. And then look for another line of business since they are utter failures. The winery that took fourth place? They're burning down the vineyard and hanging themselves as we speak.

I like Marta's philosophy much better: "They were to stop whining and get to work." I assume that it was only by accident that she said something smart, since most of the rest of what she says in these episodes is worthless.

David says he needs to be more on top of things at the vineyard. I agree, but I am skeptical that it can happen. Grace was handling him like Silly Putty and he was totally oblivious. He never sees what is going on around him. She could be drinking his blood through a straw and he wouldn't even notice. If that happens, it will be his own fault.

"César asked him if he wanted Gracie for something else." How about compost?

As for Lilian's comments to Luci about losing the wine contest, I suppose it would be pointless to note that Lilian contributed nothing to the effort whatsoever and took an extra-long shower when they were supposed to be conserving water. Also, I'd just like to throw it out there: when someone is speaking abusively to you, you don't have to stand there and listen. You can walk out on them in mid-sentence. I'd like to see a TN character do that someday.

Erika's comment that under different circumstances she and Luciana could have been friends got me thinking last night. I'll say more about that later. I'll try to keep it short and non-ranty.

Lila, Tofie

Maybe they are showing us the real David. A rich privileged brat who inherited a multi-million dollar vineyard and has had helpers/enablers all along to ensure his success. When the minions finally turn on him, he is fricking helpless.

Sure sounds like what we see over and over in real life. The older male equivalents of FerBrat. Spoiled little rich turds inherit Daddy's empire and it floats for a while, but they usually have squandered it before age 50.

David's problem is nothing that can't be solved by three ghosts on Christmas Eve. I love how in telenovelas, serious personality flaws always get vanquished in just a couple of days and we're supposed to believe that they'll be fine forever after.

David has gotten way too much attention. I'd like to see a couple episodes of Luciana gaining even more self respect and having her Uncle Dave tattoo removed.

Part Two is up. Enjoy. Maybe I'll join Lillian in the vat of red. Now I will tackle the rest of the comments.

Urban, I don't know how you did it, that's a LOT of work to put up, but you did a marvelous job and are to be congratulated for not missing a detail. I am very upset that the episodes seem to be chopped up and combined into a single episode. I don't get what they are doing unless they are trying to end the show earlier than they first anticipated. It's just not right to fast forward through in the "ultimas semanas".

Anyway, David is starting to look like HE is under mind control now. He has that blank stare/look about him and can't think for himself.

Julie, loved your commment about Grace and "how about compost?" LOL!

Thanks a bunch Urban. I don't know how you do it. To actually commit all this to (electronic) paper is one thing, but to add in your unique editorial content is beyond compare.

If you do join her get your own glass.

Thank you for part 2, Urban. I forgot there was still more recap to come.

Adolfo wanted to talk about the future with Lilian, she finished her wine and took off. If she's trying to keep him on the hook, shouldn't she could give him a little more to work with? Or is she just in it for the free wine?

OK, I just caught up to the comments. Here are my long-form ones that I can't insert into the recap:

Marta: I don't think there is anything malicious in her apparent pleasure that Luciana and David broke up. I think she is subconsciously wishing that Luciana were a little girl again, the one she couldn't raise at the time. She has lots of experience with little girl stuff but has never been a parent to a mature teen (like Luciana probably was) or a young adult like Luciana is now. She missed out on a lot of stuff and is out of her depth here. Also, had she gone through the harder adolescent stuff with Luciana maybe Fernanda would be less of a mess.

Fernanda: Cesar's comments about the risk of addiction are right on the money. We've seen FerBrat drunk more than once before and these pills could do much worse than passing out after too many Margaritas. And what if she consumes any alcohol while taking these pills?

Susan: She is probably thinking that loving a man with this kind of baggage is more than any woman should have to handle. I have friends who never would have been behind the idea of their parents remarrying no matter what and we were all older than FerBrat when we had that conversation. Advice columnists get letters all the time about this. For some it's about inheritances and for others it's about attention. However, FerBrat is an attention whore, just like DisGrace.

Miguel: Hard to say if his feelings for Luciana went truly to the Friend Zone, but he needs to watch his back.

Carito: More likely to exit this tale feet first than walking off into the sunset with Miguel. She was a complete idiot to try to not implicate Juan.

Gutierrez: I think he knows that.

Julie my thoughts too. Did Lil ride her broomstick over there just for a free glass of wine?

Maybe someone has been marking bottles over at Angeles and she needs another source?

Urban, the second part was as wonderful as the first. Thank you!

Particularly enjoyed "Marta said to count on her for help [Yes, but what kind?]", "[When did red wine become True Blood?] and "[non] failure.

tofie, I don't even like David anymore.

Lila, I'm incensed that they are cutting at this late stage, when we are finally able to watch something other than paint drying. Lisa noted there are great Sonia/Leon scenes coming up. Now if THOSE scenes are cut, I will really be depressed. Susanlynn, I think Sonia will save the competition and the day.

"In the meantime they had to accept Anderson's diagnosis". Really?? Do you (Davied) and Cesar not see that your daughter is totally out of it? You aren't working, you aren't taking care of your children...what the heck are you doing??? Ack.

So now that David has soaked up Luci's love and devotion, he is going to let her go because she wasn't the right mother for his children? Dude, maybe you aren't the right father...

Julie, very curious what you will have to say about Erica and Luci.

Urban, you went above and beyond last night. Thank you for your dedication!

Diana

Urban that was pretty clever, No better way to say someone did it than to swear to Gut seven ways from hell that they (Perl and NoJuan) had N O T H I N G to do with any--thang illegal.

Kirby, I re-read your comment...We've all been focused on how spoiled and privileged Fer is. But just the same could be applied to David, couldn't it?

He removed himself from his work, ostensibly to spend time with his children but neglects to notice his daughter is fading away before his eyes. He could have taken an hour or two to attend the competition, but he likely spent the time brooding and sulking. His staff keeps things up but receives no support.

Fer isn't failing. David is.

Diana

When Luci said she would like to leave the vineyard with Marta when the competition was over, Marta may as well have said "Don't let the screen door hit you in the ass, daughter."

When will Luci accept that Marta really does not give a flying frump at a rolling donut about her? The ghost of Fernando and FerBrat, and still...Gut, yes. Luci..No.

Luci honey you will not make the mistakes your "Mom" chooses for you and instead want your own, and furthermore, you are kinda in the way. Leave. It is a hard pill to swallow when your Mother does not love you. Leave

David spends more time squeezing into his corset in the morning than he does planning and following through with anything.

Uncle Dave is not right for Luciana but neither is Miguel. I don't like Miguel but he is a much better man because of Erika. Luciana should head to the second place vineyard and ask for a job and leave her past behind.

Agree Kirby about Marta. Luciana's arrival did nothing but complicate Marta's cushy life. How dare Luciana show up unannounced carrying an urn expecting Marta to choose sides.

Anita, where are you?

Diana

Anita is on vacation in Paris (where there is lots of great wine).

There's nothing cushy about Marta's life. Although she gives as good as she gets in the adversarial relationship with Lillian that can't be pleasant. Which reminds me: Why hasn't Gutierrez outed Lillian as the mastermind behind the deportation that started this whole crazy story? In fact, why hasn't Marta suspected this all along?

Luciana is a reminder to Marta of what she never had and cannot become: A free woman who has sufficient education to support herself without being dependent on any man. Marta probably resents this a lot more than she realizes. This is nothing new. Luciana can make choices that were not available to Marta. She doesn't have to settle. Luciana doesn't have to marry the first man who asks. She doesn't have to clean toilets in an office building at midnight for less than minimum wage. Marta is not illiterate but I'll bet she didn't finish high school.

What a good discussion. . .I'll try to catch up. Agree with this from Kirby around 11 a.m.:

. . . the real David. A rich privileged brat who inherited a multi-million dollar vineyard and has had helpers/enablers all along to ensure his success. When the minions finally turn on him, he is fricking helpless.

He's helpless before anybody with more than 3 brain cells working, even if that somebody is a child. Thank gosh Bobby doesn't want to fork over him too, he'd be lost for sure. Lisa really loved him, that's why she tolerated his dimness. Anytime he allowed her sister to paw over him and nearly jerk him off right in front of her and he wouldn't put a stop to it, he's an idiot! Lisa and Marcos ran LA vineyards. Let DG play with him til she's tired and then toss his ass out in the yard.

Sorry for ranting. I know there are less visceral and more intelligent discussions above. I hope to pick up in comments later.

Can't thank you enough, Urban, for double duty.

Marta lives in a pretty nice place and I haven't seen her many minutes not air conditioned. It may not be what some would call cushy, but by other standards it is pretty frippin nice. At one time there was Perla, Carito, Marta and Sonia running a household of THREE people. Not exactly slavery. Her recent friction with Lillian is self induced, and she could easily have left.

And then I just flat don't like Marta.

This is pretty darn good, patio. I don't know which type TN I like the most---- the ones I like or the ones I hate. ? ? ?

kj

I'm hearing Patty Smyth "Sometimes Love Just Aint Enough".

Thanks, Urban.

I'm sure David and Luciana will wind up together. What I'm not sure about is how the writers will make Viewerville happy about Luciana being tied to a nitwit for life.

Diana, Sonia and León are some of the few characters in this show who are not stupid and have healthy feelings of love for each other. Their storyline is truly refreshing to watch and it will be a real shame if you do not have the chance to enjoy it as it was originally aired.

Regarding David, oh my God... ITA with all of you. He must be one of the most idiotic characters that ever existed in telenovelas history! It must have been embarassing for Gabriel Soto to play him.

Regarding Erika and Luci being friends:

Some of you may remember during TVA that I said (more than once) that the story *I* wanted to see was the three sisters getting together, healing their various wounds, and teaming up against everyone who had been messing with them.

And I believe that when Erika and Luci first met, I actually said that under different circumstances they might be friends.

I was surfing around on YouTube last night before the show, looking at Power Ranger videos and asking myself why do I have such an attachment to something that I was already nearly 20 years too old to care about back when it was new.

The answer came to me when Erika told Luci that under different circumstances they might have been friends.

I realized that some of my favorite stories are about people who don't have much to do with one another, coming together and fighting a common enemy. Aside from the action figures, Power Rangers (among many other stories for children and adults) was about friendship and teamwork among people who otherwise might not have been besties.

What I wouldn't have given to see a TN where Erika, Luci, and Miguel (ELM) worked together that way against a more impressive adversary than just Juan and SkidMark.
(I'd add David to the team, but he'd just slow them down. He is not Power Ranger/Scooby Gang/Justice League material.) Have Gut be a totally corrupt sheriff, taking bribes from Juan and helping Mark get people across the border. ELM figure it all out and get the proof, all the while making good wine and fending off jealous rivals, mean girls, bratty kids, and evil space robots.

OK, maybe not evil space robots.

I was also thinking about what Susanlynn has been saying lately about the disappointing galans, and I think it was Diana who recently said about the lack of romance? I don't know what is going on with the TN writers. It's like they've given up on ALL of the things we like to see in a story. All we're left with is a bunch of stupid people running around and crying.

I actually wonder if romance is being rejected by younger generations.

At my last company I supervised two 22-year-olds, one of whom said "We don't date; we hook up." When I requested clarification she said that most people her age don't date because they don't want the emotional stuff that goes with it. They hook up when they have time and that's that.

I also have had female friends of varying ages who roundly refused to read romance novels or watch romantic movies. They also rejected "chick flicks" because they hated "cheap emotion." We could be facing a generation or two of people who see all emotion as cheap.

What makes it cheap, anyway?

Thank you for the great recap UA. I'm astonished that you could pull this together with all the snips and flat crap coming out of this TN. I can barely sit through any of it, so I record and then I can barely keep from Ffwd'ing to end the misery! Ay ay ay!

Why should I root for Dud-veed anymore to get Luciana? This man doesn't show any passion for her since the last time they rolled so beautifully in those sheets. Dude make me believe you are madly in love with her!!! I get he's torn up about his family, but this is a hot sexy virile man..he should be aching..ACHING for her and should barely be able to keep his hands and lips off of her. He should see her and do anything to get near her, smell her, run his fingers through her hair and there should millions of stolen kisses to keep us ROOTING for them..teasing up for that ultimate moment when OUR couple finally prevail. Instead I don't believe anything the writers or even GS are trying to sell me.

As for Luciana, presumably this hot older man was her first. Again, I don't see the aching passion from her.

Erika and Miguel have more passion than David/Luciana. Those two can barely keep their lips and hands off of each other. The problem is they are not MY couple or why I tune in show! FAIL!

Other things I don't care about:

Carito, Perla, NoJuan, Skidmark. This secondary drivel has sucked up so much airtime and for what? The show is called VINO EL AMOR...not Vino El Immigrants or whatever.

Marta and Lilian..well they're no Grace and Frankie. But maybe they both need a joint and to be locked in a room together. THEN I might find them interesting. I think I'm supposed to like Marta, but I find myself wishing for Skidmark to take her out before show ends. She's a dysfunctional batshit bimbo with horrible hair and fashion.

I could go on, but I don't think you want me to. I'm so PRESSED about this show.

Well, I hate chick flicks because they make romance look easy. Even when the couple has big obstacles to overcome, the fact is that in the real world these people have not been together long enough to be soulmates. They would still be at the stage where it's all chemistry. So in that sense, it does often seem cheap to me, or at least shallow.

I suppose you could say the same for telenovelas, except that the story takes a few months to tell and usually spans a more meaningful amount of time. By the time a TN is finished, it's easier to have a some confidence in the couple's long-term prospects.

Unless the guy's an idiot.

Oh yes, thank you Delilah for reminding me - I ALSO would have liked for Lil and Marta to get together and take Gut (a much more corrupt Gut) down.

Friendship. Teamwork. Lessons learned. Older but wiser. That's the kind of crap that I live for.

I figured out the problem: David is too Anglicized. Men of my parent cultures don't display passion the way Latino men are said to. By comparison they're downright cold.

During the first week I figured out that David is a 2nd-generation US-born, so he is somewhat removed from his ancestral culture. The one thing that is tying him to it is that he speaks Spanish. Many grandchildren of immigrants don't speak the ancestral culture's language; my cousins and I don't speak German anymore and I don't think their children do at all. In fact, I don't think that much Mexican food makes it to the main house dinner table in this series. Remember when Luciana and Leon went to Mexico and she was teaching him about real Mexican food?

BTW, some of this was reflected in my Hispanic colleagues at my first Hispanic ad agency. Some of them did not speak Spanish at all. One even told me that she was ashamed of that when she realized the effort I was putting in to learn it.

I'm not one to run to see a chick flick, I find them sort of corny and bit too cliche. That said if I am tuning into something that is billed as romance.then by golly that is what I want to see and I have seen hardly any here. The two leads have taken a back seat to other couples I'm not interested in seeing suck face (Miguel/Erica and Perla/NoJuan) even Lion cub and Sonia got more kisses and romance than the lead couple. WTF is up with that?! You can't strike a match in water...and these writers have dumped cold water all over this couple. They TRASHED them.

I forgot to mention that I don't give a rip about FerDemanda anymore..I think I'm supposed to but I don't. It's sad...she's being manipulated by DG who is beyond evil, but the girl already had her mind set against Fer, before DG capitalized on it. So she can just suck it with her sadness over her father not getting to be happy. She has her Tino Tano and that's all that really mattered in her spoiled petulant world. She doesn't even treat Tano much better..it's all me..me..me..ME! She wants everyone focused on her and doesn't get that some folks have to work, some have lives outside of her juvenile existence. I think it's sad that Luciana even wants this girls love and approval.

Julie..."Friendship. Teamwork. Lessons to be learned. Older but wiser." Well, I think that you have just described the patio of caraycaray. It really has become a community in the ten or so years since it was formed. All different kinds of people conevhere to share opinions, ideas, and experiences.

As to the Power Rangers, I have never seen them, but I understand what is attractive about them for you. We are attracted to shows that reflect the things that we as individuals feel are valuable and important to us. I always like shows featuring romance because I have always been a romantic . I like good guys, everyday heroes, people who are not perfect but who try to do what is right. I like to see galans who are kind and intelligent, and who have values and try to protect the weaker folks around them.

I do think that this generation is not as romantic as in the past. My daughters usually went out in groups instead of on dates, whereas when I was growing up, kids went on double dates. We grew up with movies, TV shows , and songs that were about finding your one true love and being together forever. Media has a very strong influence in kids .

I truly hope that DisGrace snares David and Marries him.

Then I hope as she and David start to turn the vineyard around this pisses off NoJuan (remember Mr. Lips) and he threatens to tell all on DisGrace.

She has to take him to San Fran to shut him up.

San Francisco with DisGrace turns out to be unlike with a human he was used to and he rats out her alien ass anyway.

...I think I'm starting to loathe the writers of this show.

It seems more and more and more like they basically run/ran under two overriding mandates:
1. Drag everything out for x amount of time, especially the will-they-or-won't-they relationship of David and Luciana.
2. David, nominally the central character or co-central character along with Luciana, is not under any circumstances allowed to look better than at least one other character (Miguel, our reliable stealth galan) if not two (Graciela the Terminatrix).

I hate this sort of agenda-driven stuff more than enough in English-language soap operas, so for a novela to actually engage in it just as badly if not more so is utterly frustrating. Everything is baby steps or zipped through at speed--David learning to open up again, Sonia and Leon's geeky love (and at this point, unless Cesar and Susan go full Caballero Home Video on us in Episode 120 or something, there is absolutely nothing this show can do that will upstage them as Best Couple), Marta's verdamnt affair and its fallout, whatever the hell Magic Brian is doing, David's brief burst of sanity about Graciela and Lilian and his finally getting together with Luciana for something like twenty minutes...hell, Susan's entire subplot with Pigpen just might have been the most graceful thing the show's done up to this point. The show seems, strangely, to get the smaller beats fairly right (Fernanda, for all her screechy caterpillar-eyebrowed glory, continues to make a certain irritating sense as a character when a lot of them often don't) but utterly hoses the big ones...and now, if this ep was a clue, the editors we love to hate are really kicking it into gear on top of that? Ow?

I kind of cringed watching Lilian and Adolfo sitting on that couch in the multipurpose room. I was hoping we were not going to see a replay . ermegard.

Today in speaking class , I read a lecture for my students to practice taking notes. The lecture was about telenovelas and soap operas and that the reason they are so popular is because viewers can relate to the themes and the characters. Hmmmm...maybe these writers should have been listening to that lecture and taking notes, too.

Fer is high as a Georgia Pine on Dr. Evil's horse tranquilizer and in the Cava trying some Ecstacy with Tano and does not hear the commotion.

The DisGrace / David WWIII moves to the Cava and the lovebirds are discovered. They call Gut who arrests Tano for statutory rape, and deports FerBrat by mistake.

Lillian and Ramon have stopped by to move another barrel of wine to the MIL quarters and are told what has transpired .

Lillian kills DisGrace on the spot. Gut arrests Ramon and deports him too. David is trying to get hold of Luci to tell her he is single but she, Erika and Miggs are in the Multipurpose room with the door locked.

FIN

Has there ever been a novela instance of a parent killing an adult child? If that is undiscovered territory this would be the story to put it in.

FerBrat is 18 (although that's easy to forget because of her emotional age) so no stat rape.

Kirby..oh my.

Yeah, Dave, good thinking. Let Fern decide who you should marry. Then, she will fly from your nest , and you will be left to repent in leisure, you dumb bunny. Please, tell me that there are not enough episodes left for Disgrace to finally land Dave..either in bed or at the altar.

Susanlynn: Yes, the Patio is my friendship/teamwork place. I feel like we've bonded more here than some of these fictitious couples who will presumably be having kids together.

Kirby: "deports FerBrat by mistake." Great, Mexico will see that as an act of war. (insert pinata/bomb jokes here)

Urban: Parents killing their adult child - good question. There was a woman in PEAM who almost killed her child, who was around 10 I think. And Querida Enemiga ended with mother and adult child strangling one another, but we didn't get to see how that turned out. I think that's as close as I've seen. (It is possible that Gabi tried to kill Sobfia in FELS, but Sobfia turned out not to be her real daughter.)

I assume you are thinking of Lilian killing Grace. If so, it would be the first useful thing Lilian's done since she (allegedly) helped stuff those gift bags. I feel that Grace's death should be from exsanguination. Maybe Lil could use a broken wine bottle.

I remember Veronica in PEAM; she was some piece of work. Loved her Karmageddon.

I remember Gabriela trying to kill Sofia in FELS and as I read your post I remembered Ursula killing her son in YNCELH, but that was not intentional. What bothered me about that was that we didn't get to see a final punishment for her and all her crimes. We were left to assume she would either off herself or end up in the manicomio in a padded room.

Susanlynn: FerBrat is going to have her way in letting Graciela marry Dave.

Kirby: Lillian Sanders (Deborah Sanders 2.0) going to further extremes.

Delilah: Keeping fingers crossed that Erika makes it to the Gran Final.

I don't know why anyone would want to see David marry DisGrace. Certainly if I were Luciana I wouldn't take him back after that!

I forgot about Ursula, UA. She did taunt her daughter to take her own life.

In Alborada, Daniela Roma poisoned herself and her son..poisoned wine. Hmmmmm...we have access to vats of wine in this show.

A stake through the heart should do it.

OK ..So maybe it's too late to weave some of my ideas into the plot.

How is NoJuan going to supposedly frame SkidMark for the succinic acid in the wine?

SkidMark did not appear to be in any of these people's orbits except being the estranged husband of one of David's employees, Soo-Sane.

I just hope that the writers give us some satisfying anvils 🔨 and that this show ends with a bang and not a whimper.

I am so tired of seeing Disgrace's eager face as she gazes up into Dave's eyes and gets all grabby, feely with him as she touches as many surfaces possible while Dazed Dave stares at her with the blankest expression I have ever seen on a galan's face. Geez, Dave, you dumb bunny 🐇 buy a vowel. However, I must admit that in real life, I have seen guys stand there clueless as women get a little handsy with them.I guess they think that it would be rude to say something .

Bill: Caballero Home Video?

Yeah, that Cop guy in #120 does look like Brian !

You know what else I miss in telenovelas... good theme songs. Haven't heard one that I liked in years.

Julie....do you remember Placido Domingo singing that beautiful theme for Alborado? It gave me chills when that music started to swell.

If Luciana and David ever end up back together, it will have to be after DisGrace is exposed for what she is--her sister's murderer. I just hope Juan lives long enough to show the proof he supposedly has. I wonder if it is on that phone he is using for safekeeping in that box. I am just chompin' at the bit to watch DisGrace go to prison.

On the subject of theme songs, one that I can say recently that I liked quite a bit was PyP. I found the music w/no singing quite enjoyable. I prefer that to some of these artists and their 'warbling'. I found my ears bleeding every time I heard AS and his AQNMD theme songs. I purposely muted him out. I'm a fan of great music...singing is subjective and probably why I do not watch singing competitions. Give me someone who can truly play instruments, something no one does anymore. Auto tune and recording studios have killed talent.

Cynthia..I think that they made a big deal about that mystery wooden box that Juan gloated over for a reason. Then, Perla finds the box and reveals to us what is inside...a cellphone. Surely this cellphone is the key to Disgrace finally being unmasked as the stone cold killer that she truly is . I. Can't. Wait. #bringit

"I assume you are thinking of Lilian killing Grace. If so, it would be the first useful thing Lilian's done since she (allegedly) helped stuff those gift bags" made me laugh out loud Julie!

Susanlynn, I didn't see Alborada but did hear the music - haunting and lovely. And yes, Delilah, PyP was very nice too. Laughed at your picture - I remember If I had a Hammer by Peter, Paul and Mary. I knew most of their songs by heart (showing my age a bit?) :)

David did seem to have Graciela's number but sadly, the lying doctor seems to have unduly influenced his judgment. Only brief lapses of sanity for sure Bill.

Cynthia, I'm so ticked off at David, I am almost agreeing with Kirby that he and Graciela should end up together. THEN he should realize she killed his wife.

Urban, although Danna Garcia's mother did not kill her in Gancho, she clearly despised her and wanted to kill her.

Diana

Delilah the recent song in a TN which I really liked was Mi Verdad by Mana in Sueno de Amor.

Those guys can really sing and have been for a long time.

I've changed my mind. I want the evil space robots. I would also accept Godzilla and/or one or more of his friends. If Univision is going to slash this thing to ribbons, I'd like to at least see a visually spectacular finish.

Dat lil Bitch is Cray Cray but so is David for not getting an eviction and restraining order.

Kirby: Dr. Evil likely getting his $$$ in the scheming plot for Graciela to marry David.

Julie: giant robots make everything better, and God knows David as a bitter old former robot pilot who retired after his parents were killed in a freak attack caused by Juan's father (which Juan has kept secret for thirty years) would be an improvement over what we've got now. Unfortunately, it would also open the door for Miguel to continue his stealth galan status from inside a giant robot...let alone Fernanda the ingénue...and I don't think we need that.

What this fakakta show really needs, that would explain so much of its crap, is magic. Graciela being a literal witch would cover every single thing she's done up to this point.
