Calao tells Danilo that El Dorado somehow failed to make a deal with Porfirio Pineda, el Baron, from the Los Altos gang. This is Danilo's big chance!
At the secret hideaway, Ryan asks Laura to promise they'll never be apart again. They kiss. She warns him that Danilo is dangerous - not so much on his own, but by way of the people around him. She doesn't want him to find out that she and Ryan are together. And she's worried that there will be a scandal about her being with Ryan and then with his brother. Ryan is angry, but Laura urges him to be patient.
At a bar, Calao carefully places his sunglasses under his hat. This is irrelevant, but I had to rewind three times to see what it was, so now you know too. For some reason, he and Danilo have come here to discuss the new client (maybe they're worried that his office is bugged?). Danilo wants to know what's the deal with this Porfirio Pineda guy, but Calao doesn't tell him much - only that he wanted to meet with Danilo. Danno thinks maybe El Dorado wants him to take up the clients that El D can't handle. Calao says in that case, El D will probably want a commission. Dani says no, it's HIS deal and he won't share! He asks Calao to set up a meet and not let BunMan know about it. He promises Calao a stake in the deal.
In jail, Chavalin is really pissed off that Leticia went and married a gringo while Chav was trying to help her. She's mad at him for throwing all of his good deeds in her face. She says Tomas is different. He helps her WITHOUT wanting anything in return. Chav is hard to understand, but I think he actually says he loves Leticia. He seems to be making himself dizzy. Now she says she's getting dizzy (flustered) too. She leaves.
In another detention center, Tadeo and Maria's cellmate, Waldo (or Baldo), is telling them that he'll probably get sent to the embassy or something. He was looking for his sister, who is staying with an aunt. His mother was killed during a crossing when he was young. Tadeo is sorry to see him go, because he thinks they could have been good friends. Tadeo promises to memorize his email address, which is either baldo95@mail.ho, or waldo95@mail.ho, depending on which language recaps you're looking at. (I'm sticking with Waldo, so later we can ask where's Waldo.)
Ah, maybe it's Valdo, because one of the guards calls him Osvaldo Capiz. He wishes Tadeo and Maria the best of luck. Tadeo watches with intense admiration as Valdo is led away by the guard. Maria thinks Tadeo must have reminded Valdo of his brother or something. All I can say is that those two guys REALLY hit it off.
At dinner, Laura tells Rosario that she and Ryan made up. Paloma is excited. (Will she blab to Danilo?) She feeds dinner to her bear. Yuck, here comes Danilo now. He jokes with the kid and more or less demands an audience with Laura, so Rosario takes Paloma up to brush her teeth.
Danilo is grumpy with Laura for going home from Furia without checking in with him first. She bristles at this. He thinks she should be a little more afraid of him. Actually what he wants is to get in her pants (he insinuates), but El Dorado likes people to be afraid of him. And she should be careful what she tells to whom. Sometimes it's safer not to know anything (it seems to work for him). He takes some food off of her plate and compliments her cooking (though I'm not sure if she was the cook).
Morning.
There's a meeting at Furia. Danilo doesn't want the band to perform at a free event. He wants them to do something bigger that will make some money. He's not going to go. He's got something to do. (No one begs him to reschedule.) Laura says she's willing to perform as Regia without the band for a good cause. Mercy suggests staging a fight between Laura and Danilo. Morgana wants to do some Los Jerarcas songs, but Ryan nixes this, saying it would confuse people because she's no longer with the band. I miss exactly what happens next, but suddenly it seems Danilo is all in favor of the show at the Primos ranch, and Morgana stomps out in a huff.
Laura finds Leticia dusting like mad in one of the offices. Leticia tells Laura she married Tomas, and it's okay because she only had a church wedding with Erasmo. Laura struggles to say something positive, but wishes Leticia luck in getting her kids. She thinks Leticia will be rewarded for looking out for her kids.
At home, Mercy gives Ryan a hard time for not claiming Paloma and for having Furia do a show at the ranch. No doubt people will find out that he has a history with that place. Ryan tells her to get off his back. Then Rita asks to leave 15 minutes early (she started her shift earlier for this reason). Mercy bites her head off. NO she cannot leave 15 minutes early!!!!!
Ryan helps Rita finish her work and asks how her boyfriend is. She says he's been drinking a lot. Ryan invites her to the show at the Primos ranch.
And suddenly, we are at the ranch. Steve watches with a goofy grin as Genesis makes arrangements. A YoungBunMan passes through the crowd. Milton tells his camera that it's for a good cause. Ryan introduces the band. But before Laura can take the stage, Morgana beats her to it. She tells the crowd that she's going to say goodbye.
(Laura is dressed head to toe in black, with long sleeves and tights. It's a sunny day. It must be 400 degrees under that big hat. Morgana's outfit is better-ventilated.)
Morgana sings a song. She asks the polite crowd if they want another. "Another singer!" Laura replies as she reaches the stage. She introduces herself as La Regia. Morgana tries to speak over her, but Ryan gets the engineer to cut Morgana's mike. He then carries Morgana bodily away from the stage. Milton watches Laura sing; he seems to be a fan, or is that a calculating smirk on his face?
Danilo and Calao are back at that bar where everything is lit in pink neon. They meet with some guys from the Lost Altos gang. Danilo makes a dumb comment about the Baron's age. The Baron says it's a family business, just him and his brother, no middlemen. They don't want Dani to launder their money - they want him to write a song. His gang is planning to take a bite out of another gang, so they want Dani to write a super-big chart-topping number one with a bullet hit that those guys won't be able to ignore. He wants it to be such a big hit that they'll even be able to recruit guys from the other gang. The song needs to mention Los Altos (his gang), plus Torreblanca, which is the name of the territory they're going to take over. This is just a test, but if Danilo passes, he can launder their money.
Laura finishes singing and introduces Jorge Eduardo and Gil Bocacho. She and Ryan plan to take off for the condo; Steve stays behind to "help" Genesis watch the rest of the show.
Laura calls home to check on Paloma and tell Rosario she'll be late for dinner. Ryan says he wants this place to be their secret love sanctuary. Laura is afraid Danilo will find out. Ryan says to forget about it. Then they have a long makeout session that probably doesn't include afternoon delight (Ryan doesn't ever take his jacket off).
Next day, Danilo and the new lawyer discuss where they'll put El D's money. Danilo says Soto looks "sick." Newlawyer says he's going to replace him. Mercy barges in and says Danilo can manage the band all he wants to, but ticket sales need to go through her. Dani says he could have a kid at any moment and then he'll be the biggest partner in the business. Mercy scoffs. Dani gets in Mercy's face and says there are three women for every man (wait, which three? Estela, Morgana, and ???) and Ryan is out of the running because he broke up with Estela.
In court, the judge says there will be an investigation to verify that the kids are Leticia's and that the marriage is valid. (Tomas simpers at Leticia.) Meanwhile, the kids can be released from the detention center and stay in the States.
Mercy has ordered Rita to ask her boyfriend to do something. We don't get to hear the particulars, but Rita doesn't want him to do it because he could get in trouble. Mercy says Rita's the one who will get in trouble. All she wants is for him to put enough of a scare into Danilo that he won't be able to "function as a man." Rita doesn't want her boyfriend to go back to jail, so Mercy the Merciless fires her and says don't ask for a reference.
Danilo gloats to Morgana about a newspaper article on the show at the Primos ranch. Morgana seems disappointed that it's not about her. She wants to be making her CD. Danilo wants her to be making his baby, or maybe he should try it with Estela? Morgana taunts him because Estela can't stand him. After all, he wanted it to be all over the news that he was with Estela, but no one has published that yet. She's curious what he's got on Estela to get her to cooperate with him. Danilo tells Morgana he's lost interest, and walks out on her.
Ryan comes home to find Rita crying on her way to the door. Mercy tries to intervene and accuses Rita of stealing, but Ryan manages to get Rita to tell him the truth. She doesn't actually say what Mercy asked for today, but she does tell him about the time Mercy paid Rita's boyfriend to steal a big envelope full of cash from Estela. Ryan tells Rita not to worry about her job. He walks her to the door.
Then Ryan confronts his mother. She says she arranged the robbery to "protect" him so that Estela wouldn't hurt him again. And in fact Estela did hurt him again, so Mercy was right. Ryan doesn't think he can trust anything Mercy says. He questions if she told him the truth about Pedro Carrillo. She sidesteps this. Ryan is mortified that she would hurt their business relationship with Tato (the client whose money was stolen from Estela). Mercy says the business is not as important to her as Ryan is. He says in that case, he shouldn't live with her any more, and he stomps out.
Morgana goes back to the fertility clinic, where the doctor explains again that her uterus is too badly damaged to carry a baby. Morgana demands that they find a viable spot in there somewhere. The doctor says it just isn't possible. Even if Morgana could get pregnant, there would be a very high risk of miscarriage. Morgana is enraged and threatens to accuse her of malpractice, but the doctor says she was frank with her from the beginning that things might not turn out the way she wanted. "IT'S NOT FAIR! IT'S NOT FAIR!!" Morgana shrieks.
At Tom's house, Tom tries to welcome the kids to their "new home," but Maria is sullen and resistant. Leticia says she won't force them: they can stay here, or they can go back home to Mexico. Tadeo is okay with staying here, but Maria wants to be with her father. Leticia tries to tell them that their father has taken himself out of the picture. Maria starts to whine, when Tomas interrupts with a sharp order not to talk to her mother that way. Then he adds, "please." Leticia agrees to take them to see their father.
Tomas takes Leticia by the elbow and pulls her aside. He doesn't want her to take the kids to Erasmo because it will undermine his authority over them. (What authority? You gotta earn that, dude.)
Mercy has summoned Joe to her home. They have a brief conversation about how important it is to her to keep their (past) relationship a secret. She's bummed because Ryan is mad at her because he found out that she was behind the robbery. She's scared he'll leave her alone in the house. Joe recommends that she apologize to Estela and Ryan. Mercy only wants Ryan's forgiveness, not Estela's. Mercy doesn't want any more advice from Joe! Joe tries to leave. Mercy puts the moves on him. With a pained expression, Joe says some people are selfish, and only ever call when they want something. She begs him not to leave her tonight, but he has no trouble slipping through that gigantic squeaky door.
So Ryan has gone back to the Love Nest of Love and called Laura for an emergency meet. He tells her the truth about the robbery. Laura laughs and says she doesn't have any more hate to spare on his mother. As a mother herself, Laura understands why Mercy would do so much to protect Ryan from the Estela who hurt him so badly before. She thinks Mercy hasn't done anything bad since then. Ryan isn't so sure of that. He reminds Laura that Mercy wanted Paloma for the extra 20% share in Furia.
Ryan is surprised that Danilo hasn't tried to get Laura in bed. They think he must be trying to earn his 20% with someone else - Morgana. Then they agree not to talk about Danilo, and share warm Smoochies (coming to a breakfast aisle near you!).
Morning... Danilo leads a blindfolded Laura to a big bus with "Regia y Los Jerarcas de la Sierra" emblazoned on the side. He shoves the keys at her. "You shouldn't have," she says, shoving them back, but she ends up with them. She is anything but pleased.
Apparently, Tomas lost the argument. Leticia knocks on Erasmo's door and when he sees who it is, he practically slams it in her face. But he opens it again when he hears Maria calling for him. She throws herself at him and he stands there, stunned, until finally he puts his arms around her. Erasmo lets them into the house and says aw, sorry kids, I just got so lonesome and didn't have any money. Maria says she'd rather live with him than with that gringo. Erasmo is stunned that Leticia got married so quickly. Tadeo retorts that she didn't need Erasmo's permission.
The hosts of some Univision show that I'm glad I don't watch rave about the band and the Primos ranch. Los Jerarcas will be Julion Alvarez's backup band at an upcoming show.
Bonita comes home and is less than pleased to find Erasmo's icky family in her nice house. "I told you we wouldn't be welcome," Leticia tells Maria. Erasmo backpedals and says no, he'll keep in touch. Tadeo says don't bother; we're used to not having you around. (Bonita rolls her eyes.) Maria whines that she wants to live with Daddy. Erasmo says they'll talk about it some other time. Leticia leads the kids out. Maria throws Erasmo a melodramatic look. (I think Erasmo and Bonita should relocate as soon as possible.)
A few days later (full moon), Laura says goodbye to Paloma before the big show. Paloma and Rosario will listen to it on the radio. Laura tells Paloma she's dreamed of this ever since she was Paloma's age. Music is sacred to her. Rosario admires her for being able to give it her all even while singing under these "conditions."

Erasmo backpedals and says no, he'll keep in touch. Tadeo says don't bother; we're used to not having you around. (Bonita rolls her eyes.) Maria whines that she wants to live with Daddy. Erasmo says they'll talk about it some other time. Leticia leads the kids out. Maria throws Erasmo a melodramatic look. (I think Erasmo and Bonita should relocate as soon as possible.)
A few days later (full moon), Laura says goodbye to Paloma before the big show. Paloma and Rosario will listen to it on the radio. Laura tells Paloma she's dreamed of this ever since she was Paloma's age. Music is sacred to her. Rosario admires her for being able to give it her all even while singing under these "conditions."

Had to pare down my list of favorites to "pour your beer, wine, or milk directly into the box. It's moisture-proof!”, “(I'm sticking with Waldo, so later we can ask where's Waldo)” and “YoungBunMan”. My hands down favorite was” Bonita comes home and is less than pleased to find Erasmo's icky family in her nice house” which mirrored the scene perfectly. Simply great.
“Danno thinks maybe El Dorado wants him to take up the clients that El D can't handle” and “he asks Calao to set up a meet and not let BunMan know about it. The conceit, the arrogance and the stupidity are mind boggling. “He takes some food off of her plate” clumsily and greedily. SO unappetizing. The boyish charm he exuded initially has vanished.
“Chav… but I think he actually says he loves Leticia”. While she seems like a nice enough woman, what secret scent is this woman brandishing to have Chav and Tomas at her feet? I feel Chav’s feelings are true/pure but Tomas’ are very much suspect. “Laura struggles to say something positive’. As do we. Alas, I cannot think of anything.

Badbun has his evil act together. I've no doubt he knows every single thing Danilo does and says. Interesting question about Calao. I think Badbun has many sources but think Calao is just another dull knife in the drawer along with Danilo. Neither apparently sees how dangerous Badbun is and refuse to heed the physical warnings they were given.

She needs to have a serious conversation with him about boundaries and expectations. If he's a good guy and they can meet each other halfway, it will be fine. It wasn't until fairly recently that I was able to put things in perspective regarding my own parents. My mother wasn't a (complete) saint and my father wasn't (truly) terrible. It's a long and difficult road and sometimes our hearts want to hold onto the images although slanted as they are in our mind's eyes. Oh, beautiful pink bird!!!

I also agree with those who say Tomas is trying to hold something back. He is trying to be good, but it looks as though he's fighting some impulses that he knows could get him into trouble.
I think Calao is probably playing close to the vest both with Danilo and with Asdrubal. Perhaps he's reserving his loyalty for a crisis of opportunity. Only then will he pick a side.
Calao was rather mysterious with Danilo about El Baron's backstory. Danilo should be able to smell a rat, but since he's been abusing his nose perhaps his sense of smell is impaired.
Maria is a brat for sure. I looked her up on IMDB and was surprised to find out that she wasn't in the TN I thought she was, but she was in TVA (I don't remember her there) AND she was in La Fea Mas Bella as a tot. So she and I go waaaaay back!

I also agree with those who say Tomas is trying to hold something back. He is trying to be good, but it looks as though he's fighting some impulses that he knows could get him into trouble.
I think Calao is probably playing close to the vest both with Danilo and with Asdrubal. Perhaps he's reserving his loyalty for a crisis of opportunity. Only then will he pick a side.
Calao was rather mysterious with Danilo about El Baron's backstory. Danilo should be able to smell a rat, but since he's been abusing his nose perhaps his sense of smell is impaired.
Maria is a brat for sure. I looked her up on IMDB and was surprised to find out that she wasn't in the TN I thought she was, but she was in TVA (I don't remember her there) AND she was in La Fea Mas Bella as a tot. So she and I go waaaaay back!

DaniLow cut off her Slutness last night and told her she was on her own now, so she should now go find a job, start her own "business", find another band, or something to feed herself.

Kirby, El Baron (who is with the cartel Los Altos) wanted Danilow to write a narco song to send a message to the opposing cartel (Los Salgodos). The cartel Los Altos is going to take territory from Los Salgados and put in their "merchandise." It could very well be a very twisted plan that ED might have to heighten the conflict between the 2 cartels. My fear is that Laustela, being the lead singer, will probably be singing that song and the cartels may think she is involved.

Oh yeah, Danilo is in hot water for sure. However, I am always interested, Kirby, in the little messages that you share with us in between your very funny observations. You are so right about looking back as adults and seeing our parents as they really are\were. I was lucky to have a very close and loving extended family around me. My mother's whole family was very close...siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins. No perfect people but mostly good and loving. I was lucky, and I was lucky to marry a good person. Sheer good fortune.

My mother was very strict with what we ate.
Cereal was Special K with skim milk. Although she had the best intentions, I simply could not abide it. I don't eat it to this day. We never had salt on the table which was a good thing. My mother was ahead of her time, espousing healthy eating from the time we were very young.
Kirby, I have some good memories though of hot oatmeal on a winter's day and a few goodies here and there (buying hot homemade jelly donuts right out of the oven at our corner bakery). What I wouldn't give for one now! :)

Oh my, compared to you all, my childhood breakfasts were full of fats, carbos, and other tasty (not so healthy) stuff--TACOS...potato and egg, chorizo and egg, bean and egg.,, But I've gotten better through the years, now it's grapenuts flakes, oatmeal, or Cheerios. Tying this to the TN...my breakfasts were more in line with Paloma's breakfasts :-)

Susanlynn, I was thinking the same thing about Danilo hesitating to get rough with Laura because she might beat him up. But he could also be biding his time, waiting for the right moment to attack.
On the one hand, he is bigger than her. On the other hand, I bet she learned a few things working in the bordello.
I loved cinnamon shredded mini-wheats, but that particular flavor was discontinued. Kashi makes a cinnamon version, but I need MUCH more cinnamon to dispel the hay taste.
Nowadays I mostly go for eggs.
One of my aunts made her kids eat a small bag of popcorn for breakfast every day. It could have been worse, but that would have really ruined popcorn as a snack for me!

I really would like for someone to give Dani a reality check. It's way too early in the story for him to get knocked out of things entirely, but if BunMan would bitch-slap him into orbit I'd be much obliged.
On the bright side, it looks like there would be lots of guns tonight, so maybe Dani will get shot in the pants. (Maybe the experience will inspire him to write a song.)

When we have seen the dark side, if you will, of Laura she has looked like Xena Warrior Princess. Clocking Talisman over the head and coming deliciously close to his or somebody's throat with the broken bottle shards was impressive. It is almost a forgone conclusion that DaniOneNut will get rough with her before too long. It is still beyond comprehension why TN girls whose lives tend to be perilous do not carry pepper spray or knives or those electric shock stun guns or garlic...frigging something besides lipstick and con ...um..mascara.
And what I still want to see is Ryan beat his ass. Ryan looks to be bigger, and a better fighter, and in far better shape. It should be a floor mopping if they ever really seriously get into it and it is a fair fight. I want to see DaniLow tap out. Then Laura can do that DisGrace thing on Ryan's arms and MEAN it.

Yeah, I catch Zena and Hercules reruns from time to time in our Heroes and Icons channel. I had a friend in high school who looked like Zena I always made her spot me when we had the horse in gym. Girl was strong .The boys loved her even when she dkapoed them around like Lestela. Tough,,pretty, and crazy.
