La Piloto #77 6-21-17: Yolanda was--is--still--in Peril

Dear Alfredo--Hope you are having a wonderful time. Wish you were here, instead of me.

Although I watched the episode last night, there's not much I can remember without a re-run (which I might do later).

I remember Yolanda being reunited with the baby--she gave him Arley's name (I think).
I remember John showing Sonia some horses and her getting a phone call from Sinesterra. She urges peace among all the rival factions.
I remember seeing a lot of mothers with babies all about the same age. Is it something in the water?
I remember Yolanda not having maternal instincts and the warden noticing she didn't know how to burp a baby.
I remember DEADave not being successful in getting immunity or some kind of protection for Yoli and the gang and not wanting to tell Yoli, but decides to go visit.
I remember Yolanda holding baby Arley and having some flashbacks.

I remember Estela pretending to have a bad cough and gets to go to the infirmary and learns where the mothers are housed. She doesn't seem to have any withdrawl symptoms from her alcohol abuse and is quite clear thinking.
I remember Yolanda taking the cranky baby to the clinic. He probably had a bit of colic.
I definitely remember the mother and child reunion--that is, Estela and Yolanda. They are straight with each other and there's lots of hugging and making up for lost time.
I remember DEADave coming to visit Yolanda in prison. He smiles and asks how she is......eventually they say how much they want to hug each other and trade te amos.
I remember Zuli asking her new friend PigTails to listen in on their conversation and report back to her.

Did I forget something Santamaria did?  HELP.
All for now. Please continue conversation on the Patio.

Yes, please step forward Patio denizens and fill in the gaps. Don't let Alfredo down!

I have not watched as intently as I did in the beginning but I still enjoy the great recaps and lively comments.

Dont know why but for some reason...my interest waned when the crew decided to spend their last dollars on a plane (but I have been pretty busy). Anyway it didnt make sense at all with a sick baby on hand. The narcos forcing them back in the trade shld have provided a plane.

Anyway...glad Arley is still around but for how long. I like this character but not sure he is redeemable but I hope he meets his son at some point....not that he deserves to.

John continues to show a glimmer of concern for Yoli. And since he is the one that caused Yoli to cross mi col's path....it would be just if he could put an end to S&Ms reighn.

I did not see how Yoli and momy dearest could reconcile but its done. Sober or not i would not want stella back as a mom. I know she helpef with the escape and identifying Zuli as the snake she is...but her horrible betrayals in the beginning are a lot to overcome.

How long can moni..zuli...and yoli be in the same cage before all hell breaks loose.

Nett

Thanks, Nett for dropping by. If I remember correctly, the plane was John's La Consentida, up for sale. Yoli wanted it just to rub his nose in it. She was pretty sure it wouldn't take too many narco trips to earn back the money spent on it and more. What I don't understand is a one-plane, one-pilot organization. Sinisterra group (La Sombra cartel or whatever), knew that going in, but they wanted to publicly punish and humiliate John and Oscar for turning on them.

The sick baby was always the ace in the hole. All the evil guys knew that baby was Yoli's weak spot. They didn't care what happened to the baby, only that Yoli should think she could save him by doing what they wanted her to do--and she did. Baby Arley was "delicate" but not sick during his sequester. He was premature and needed an incubator.

I really can't see DEADave and Yoli ending up with the baby. Wonder who it will be? Liz and Raul? Ollie and Willie? Arley by himself? Estela, Rosalba and Arley? Hmmm, now that would be an interesting combination--getting a fresh start in some Caribbean Island.

Thank you for mentioning John's glimmer of concern for Yoli. It would be a fitting end for MiCol for John to dispatch him, but in any confrontation, John would have to recognize and admit to S&M that what he did to Yoli was not worth a single peso of his life. I'd hate to see MiCol to just go out in a hail of Federales and DEA bullets.

Rats I wish I had taken notes or something. Let me see if I can fill in a little. Sonia is in Luuuurve it appears and wants John to just run away with her. They have loads of money and could live anywhere out of the drug business and incognito somewhere obscure. John was born in Mexico and wants to die in Mexico and will not leave. Rather, John has a plan to rid Mexico of the other narcos and he and Sonia will have no competition and no more problems. He has Sonia call Sinister under the pretense of calling a truce among all the druggies to bury the hatchet and coexist in peace. If the others take her bait she will lure them all together, and according to John's plan he and SM will kill ALL of them. John has a pledge of help from SM to carry out this plan in exchange for helping SM get Yoli out of prison to continue her torture.

I haven't watched the episode yet so I can't add anything. I can't see Arley living. He isn't redeemable to me. Also, can't believe Estela and Yoli have made up but I guess that was on the cards. I do now wonder if this is a setup by the writers. Let Yoli and Estela be happy together for a moment so that Estela will die and Yoli will feel bad. I've seen it done on so many other shows. Reconcile a couple so that one can be killed and the audience and character feel it.

I can see Zuli working her snake charms to turn the whole prison against Yoli and Estela. Has Yoli seen Monica yet? And what is with Monica's hair do? I don't know any prison that allows prisoners the use of bobby pins since they can be turned into a weapon.

Meanwhile back at the Meow cells, Braids somehow has figurd out that Zooli is Zuli and was "Great Friends" with Liz from when Liz was there in the Meow Ranch. They become friends and team up against Yoli who is in the Mothers with Babies section, but mixes with the general pop in the visitor center. Zoo asks braids to sit near DEADave and Yoli when he visits and eavesdrop.

MawCadena pretends to have a bad cough to get into the infirmary and while there runs into Yoli who is there with "her" colicky baby (which by the way Yoli has no fripping clue how to hold, feel, burp, change or anything) as noted by one of the guards who is becoming suspicious that Yoli is not the Mom.

Zuli figures this out and rats Yoli out to the warden and tells him who yoli really is, Yolanda Cadena the notorious drug pilot hottie. Editor's note: Even with one foot already in Hell Zooli continues to wreak as much havoc and cause as much pain and suffering as a whole coven of experienced witches..

Dave finally manages to tell Yoli that Benny was fired, who, incidentally, was their ace in the hole, and things look pretty grim for Yoli. Muy Impactada. Um Yoli is now a bit late to cry some big ole crocodile tears over your fate? You certainly had a lot of help on your way here, but you have done a lot of this to yourself, all the while Dave begging you not to.

But Dudley Dave has a new planB...C..D..and that is to get Yoli and the other gonrs political asylum.....He is going to pull some strings. Hmmmmm The strings Dave has pulled in the past were attached to that little safety thing on hand grenades.

A couple of Sinister's goons, Gonzales and another one come and pay a visit to Mena and the girls and Wilmer. There is some discussion, I do not remember, but the only noteworthy thing is even as these guys have their guns out Mena head butts Gonzales into the next episode. Mena is a badddd dude.

Thanks, Anita and Kirby.

Yoli has a good heart and is not vengeful, so I buy her forgiving Estela for a lifetime of neglect, especially since Rosalba filled the gab. But Estela's sudden motherhood pangs, nope. I agree this means Estela is not long for this world.

Dear, dear Kirby--Thank you for saving me the bother of rewatching this episode. Your recap did the trick, I was able to "remember" it all. Isn't recapping fun?

Niecie--You and Carvivlie may be right. Estela and Yoli needed this reconciliation before Estela lays down her life for her daughter, whether it's in or out of the prison confines. It's one way for Yoli (if she lives) not to be saddled with an alcoholic mother on top of everything else she'll have to be responsible for. (I see Dave less and less in the picture, as many of you have said from the very beginning. They've made him just inept enough for that to happen.)

Oh Anita you are too kind, mine was not a recap by you real recapper's standards, but I try to fill in a little.

We have been seeing signs of Estela turning over a new sober Motherhood leaf, but like Yoli in jail now, a little bit too little too late. It is hard to undo the things Estela did to Yoli and allowed to be done to Yoli at this late stage of the game. Repentance and forgiveness are good, but in many things, the damage is done. With Rose fro a Mother rather than Estela and Jack Daniels, Yoli's world would probably be far different now. It is very sad. My heart was breaking when Yoli and Estela were together, and again when Dave told Yoli that her get out of jail card had been fired, but I must admit life is that way.

I know I've said this before but Yoli does deserve to be in jail. She had no problem running drugs as long as she got to fly. If Oscar hadn't been jealous, Yoli and John would/could be together right now running drugs. She only turns to Dave when she is in a jam. Now Liz and Olivia never wanted to run drugs and wanted out but were forced to stay in. They deserve to be free.

Kirby--If Rose had raised Yoli, Yoli would now be a timid housewife to someone she lets beat her and doesn't know where his money is coming from. Now, if Rose and her real Daddy had been a couple, I would have expected her to become the first female pilot of the Mexican Airways (so to speak).

Carvivlie--True. And since this is supposedly based on a "true" story (without DEADave), if she hadn't escaped (or avoided capture) and is hiding out, she'd be in prison. I AM dying to know if they change the end--or they don't. If they don't, that's what's making me think she and DEADave don't make end game.

Anita I meant if Aunt Rosalba raised Yoli she would be different now. I do not forsee her making Yoli a timid housewife.? But even if that, she would not be in jail for the rest of her life, however long that will be with Moni and Zuli around.

That's what I meant, Rosalba and Yoli's real Daddy, the one we saw killed by corrupt cops at first.

Rosalba is a survivor, but happenstance always fell in her favor. She is timid and indecisive, but perhaps that's what saved her all that time she was sequestered with the baby.

I gosh Anita I hope all of the torture Yoli has gone through wasn't part of the "true" life.

The writers did a bit of a flip on Rosalba's personality. She stood up to Estela and that worthless butcher/rapist man of hers and encouraged Yoli to follow her dreams. Then when Yoli first went on the run and was accused of killing the butcher/rapist, she went all stupid, "Yoli wouldn't do that!" when she should've realized it was self-defense.

Anita: But will Estela give up her life for Yoli ?

Did anyone get whacked last night ?

Steve, you are pretty obsessed with people getting "whacked".

I didn't see any glimmer of John being concerned about Yoli when SM said he was taking her to Venezuela.

Isn't John's plan out of the Godfather?

I'd betcha John is not planning on SM surviving, even if John is planning on being with Sonia for a while.

Last night showed the other side of John, in that Mexico is his country, which he loves, and he will live there and die there. And so even though he is a narco and has killed who knows how many people, he has a heart, of sorts.

Hey Kiby--I see Senor Squirrel has his own popcorn bowl (oops, wrong tn--but too lazy to put it on the other page)

Bowl of sunflower seeds. Yeah he is pretty possessive about his bowl.

I feed my herd of squirrels directly on the patio flagstones. Sweep, sweep, shells are gone.

I'm recapping Doble tonight, so I can't watch Piloto until late tomorrow morning. I'll put up a discussion page, but it will be blank. Hopefully someone steps in and fills in for us in the morning.
Your humble scribe,
Anita
