La candidata Friday 8/25/17 Capítulo 52 Teresa Accuses Gerardo--OR--- R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Alonso's office--Alonso convinces Teresa there are smarter ways of getting rid of people than just killing them. For example, there is the case of her husband. Alonso wants to see Gerardo bereft of everything that matters to him in his life: his profession, his daughter, and his wife (Regina). Teresa is liking what she is hearing. Alonso wants to see Gerardo lose the will to live. Teresa is willing to help Alonso achieve this. Alonso tells her to come back and see him when she has something they can use against Gerardo.

Mauro's office--Mauro is still overwhelmed by anger with Cecilia right behind him wanting to know what happened. She heard Alonso swearing at him as he was leaving. Mauro explodes. It all comes down to that fact that Mauro took a few pesos, out of all the money Alonso steals, for himself. What is more is that it is Mauro who does the dirty work, always at risk and never getting recognized or rewarded. Mauro is not about to calm down. Alonso is making a mistake with him. He is going to get tired of Alonso and his filth and then Alonso will be kneeling in front of him and begging him for help. Cecilia goes to touch Mauro on the shoulder. He shakes her off and storms out.

Escalante's office--Escalante is with Joaquín (El Chulo), the drug "lord", informing him of the great opportunity they have with Regina but that he is going to need money to fund her campaign. In order to keep the money flowing, they don't need any confrontations within the organization. Joaquín clarifies things. Escalante is in charge of the distribution of the money but Joaquín is in charge of making the money and the the territory and there is a problem: El Bizco. Joaquín cannot put up with El Bizco anymore. He is not defying Escalante but this is coming down to a matter of RESPECT which El Bizco is lacking for Joaquín. If he is going to die, Joaquín is going to die with his boots on. Lorena enters as Joaquín is leaving. They cordially greet each other. Lorens is taken aback by the sight of Joaquín and as soon as he is gone she asks Escalante what "that man" was doing there. Escalante has a simple answer: they were doing business. He is a client. Lorena says he is a drug trafficker. Escalante does not see that as any big deal. He admits that he has no scruples when he is trying to do business. He sure hopes that Lorena of all people isn't going to go all "moralistic" on him. As a matter of fact, Escalante has an idea. He wants Lorena to be in charge of the drug traffickers. They are a very demanding group that require a lot of attention. Who better than Lorena to manage business and men? Lorena looks surprised and worried.

Regina's office--Gerardo and Ximena are at it. Ximena is bemoaning the fact that while Gerardo has been telling her that the love he has with Regina is something good, he and Regina have no idea of the damage or the pain they have caused. They don't give a "damn" what anyone else thinks. Gerardo cuts her off: end of conversation. Before she leaves, Ximena makes a point of telling Regina that there is no way she can realize how much she hates her or the lack of respect she has for her. She leaves and Regina tells Gerardo to go after his daughter..

Alonso's office--a guard-goon comes in to see Alonso. Alonso is not happy because he thinks the guard-goon knew about Regina and Gerardo meeting up but didn't tell him. No, he didn't because he knew that Alonso knew about their relationship. Well, Alonso needs some proof. Voilà! the guard-goon has a video of the two of them having sex that he sends to Alonso's phone on the spot. As he watches the video, Magda comes in with some info. Alonso puts his phone away and leaves.

The cabaret--Mario is meeting with José and is offering him a job. He needs someone who will do anything, absolutely anything including killing people. José is up for the job. He will start tomorrow. There is only one warning. If José betrays him, Natalia will never stop paying for that betrayal.

Omar's bedroom--Omar is going into his wall safe. He removes an envelope and leaves the safe open. Marcia who is pretending to be asleep sees it all. Suddenly Omar gets a terrible pain in his head. He ends up lying down and falling asleep.

Doctor's office--Gerardo goes to see Teresa's doctor to find out how Teresa lost the baby. Was it due to a blow? Not at all. The doctor informs him that the baby died of natural causes which was no surprise because the pregnancy was high risk and therefore difficult to carry to term. Gerardo wants to know the order of events when Teresa came yesterday. First of all, the doctor informs him that the baby did not die yesterday. It died a while back. Another doctor performed a D&C (dilation and curettage) on Teresa. He shows Gerardo the file.

Gerardo's apartment--Teresa is throwing another tantrum when Ximena comes home. She is looking for money. She has expenses. Ximena tells her to calm down so she doesn't lose the baby. She tells Teresa to just accept it already. They have lost Gerardo as a father and a husband. Teresa tells her she hasn't lost her father: she gave him up. In Teresa's case, yes she has lost her husband. Teresa goes on about how Gerardo hurt her and the only thing that is going to take away the pain is when she sees Gerardo and Regina suffering that same pain.

Noemí's house--Natalia has come to see Noemí. She is all excited about José having gotten a job with Mario. Noemí has been drinking but very able to tell Natalia that by working for Mario, José will be doing the worst things imaginable. When Natalia calls her on her drinking, Noemí reminds her that drunks don't lie. Mario is much worse than Omar so Natalia can just say goodbye to the José she knows because he will never be the same. Mario will make him into a monster.

Isela's office--Isela asks Mario if he turned over the video and photos of Ximena already. Mario insists he is helping their daughter Cecilia. Is that not what she wanted? She wants to know what Alonso is going to do with that evidence. Mario has no idea but it will help Cecilia. If Alonso does not use it, Mario will to get rid of Gerardo and to get Ximena out of Emiliano's life. Isela concludes that he is going to use it for his family. Mario says yes he is because that is how they ALL survive. Mario tells Isela she can forget about Ximena now. He has what he wants. He is gone.

Regina's office--Hernán is interviewing Regina about her relationship with Alonso. Yes, they have been together for most of their lives. They always had differences but they both have changed with the time. Now they have irreconcilable differences. Hernán wants to know how it is living with a political rival. Regina says she can't and that is why it has ended with her asking for a divorce. As Regina and Hernán talk about what the interview will not be covering (like her policy positions, etc.) she finds out that Escalante is his new boss and is running the show.

On the street and in a car--Isela has gone rogue and is picking up Ximena again. At gunpoint Ximena is made to agree to spy on Emiliano or end up in jail because of the videos/photos of her involved with drug dealing. Once they have all the info they want, Ximena will no longer be needed. Ximena calls Emiliano to set up a meeting. He is stopping by his dad's house. She will see him there.

An office building--Larreta gets a visit from one of Gerardo's guard-goons: he has information for him.

Omar's room--Omar has fallen asleep and Marcia gets up to investigate what else might be in the wall safe. There is cash! As she takes out a couple of stacks and walks around the room with them, she almost physically runs into Alonso who has just stopped by and surprised her.

Emiliano's room--Ximena goes to see Emiliano at Alonso's house. He is there to pick up some clothes. He is staying with his mother at his grandparents' house. Emiliano notices she is acting strange and asks her if she is okay. Everything is going badly for her. She should not have come by. Emiliano misses her. They both have problems with their families. He wants them to be together. He does not pressure her for sex. He apologizes for past transgressions. They have the possibility of changing.(Teenage angst!) They are not just like their parents. They end up having sex initiated by Ximena.

Omar's room --Alonso has discovered a thief and a slut!!! He will tell Omar everything if she does not "compensate" him. He has sex with her next to the bed where Omar is sleeping.

Gerardo's place--Gerardo comes home and confronts Teresa about manipulating them all with her pregnancy. He knows she lost the baby days ago. He talked to the doctor. Teresa continues lying and whining. He no longer wants her living in his home. She also better tell Ximena the truth about her pregnancy by this evening, because if she doesn't he will. If she lies, he will take Ximena to talk to the doctor. Her whining and writhing goes on and on. Gerardo is out of there.

Regina's office--Daniela has reaction from the social media since Regina's separation has become public. Regina thinks the feedback will be bad. Daniela smiles and tells her she won't believe the feedback. That thought is interrupted when Gerardo calls Regina. He tells her all about Teresa lying about the pregnancy, trying to extort him and blaming Regina. They don't need to feel guilty. Gerardo needs to see her. He will wait for her at the cabin. Regina hems and haws. Gerardo really needs to see her.

Larreta's SUV--Lorena meets with Larreta. He has news. It seems that Gerardo and his crew have the evidence on them from their dirty dealings at the Department of Health. Larreta is not sure exactly what they have because they keep asking him for clarifications that lead to attacks on Alonso and his machinations. Lorena tells him not to worry because they have no info about him Larreta. Lorena gave Regina the info to use. She did not give it to Gerardo. They work together. Larreta wonders if this is all part of a larger strategy created by Escalante her new lover boy. She says no. She is only with Escalante for protection and money. Larreta suggests she not sleep with Larreta then. She asks if he is jealous. He never has stopped loving her. She departs with telling him not to commit suicide or talk because Alonso is very dangerous. Larreta reminds her that Alonso has to pay for what he did to them. She says he will.

José's house--Natalia goes to warn José off from working for Mario who is worse that Omar ever was. No, José is taking the job. He needs to work. She pleads with him talking about ow dangerous it will be. Well, he just came from working for Omar, so? She will support them both. That does not fly with José. He needs to work. He needs to feel like a man.She just doesn't want anything to happen to him. The both agree that they cannot live without each other.

Cecilia's office--Hernán walks in and Cecilia has all sort of info for him on the deals Gerardo and his party made with the casino owners: not paying for their operating licenses, for example. She says Gerardo agreed to it all because of his "gambling" wife. Everyone has their price. Hernán asks why she is giving this to him. She is doing it because he is a journalist and journalists tell the truth. If he doesn't want it, though, she will give it to someone else.

A car--Teresa is with a guard-goon. She is sitting in the passenger seat looking at a guy in an alley who is slumped against a wall smoking a cigarette. The guard-goon asks her if she is sure this is what she wants to do. Absolutely!!! She asks if the guy in the alley is THE guy. Yes, that is him. She can be calm, though, adds the guard-goon, because he is an ex-policeman and does jobs like this(!!)

Mauro's office--Mauro is talking to a group of businessmen. He tells them that they all know how bidding is handled in this country. They need public lands to construct their social housing projects. Mauro can help them get them built but he cannot do magic. So, it will depend upon the "highest bid". He does add that he is talking about "bidding" of course (so they don't get the wrong idea which, I guess, could be the right idea). So, now Mauro needs offers. They will be in touch! They all shake hands and leave.

Omar's bedroom--Marcia has made her first payment to keep Alonso's mouth shut but is still worried that Alonso will tell Mario. Couldn't Alonso just let her disappear? No, they have an agreement and he will be stopping by so she can please him however he chooses. Omar wakes up. Omar wonders why Alonso came by. Did he want money? No, Alonso was just worried about him. He loves him. Omar looks at Alonso and Marcia and asks if he came just for that.

Franco's office--Mauro pays Franco a visit. No, he is not there to talk about politics. As a matter of fact he is getting out of politics. Franco cannot believe he would be retiring. Mauro has decided and for the first time in his life he is doing a business deal for himself. Mauro came to see him because he wants to know if he can get back what he lost: his life. He asks if Franco could go with him and believe in him.

Emiliano's room--Ximena and Emiliano are still in bed. She tells him about the set-up with the drugs, videos, photos and the people that are still threatening her. Emiliano wants to do something about it. She has told nobody but him. She does not want to end up in jail. He agrees to say nothing. He loves her. She loves him. They kiss.

Escalante's office--Joaquín gets a surprise when he comes to see Escalante but Lorena is there. She explains that Escalante wants her to handle his business with the government. Joaquín is okay with that. Now to the nitty gritty. Joaquín thinks that business is good but it is getting complicated. It seems that the interim governor Mauro wants a cut. Joaquín explains how all of the money has already been split up and apportioned among the parties involved. Lorena is ready to negotiate. Sorry! Joaquín announces there will be NO negotiations. The deal has been made. It is closed. As a matter of fact he wants Lorena to have Mauro sign the bid himself. She also better tell Mauro not to betray him if he does not want to end up in a cemetery.

Hernán's show set--Cecilia comes by to deliver a visibly beat up Teresa (she has a black eye, bruised face and a swollen lip) Teresa introduces herself to Hernán by telling him that she knows he is an honest journalist who tells the truth. Teresa wants everyone to see what Gerardo did to her.

The "love-nest" cabin--Regina has come to the cabin to meet Gerardo. Gerardo tells her about Teresa lying and how now there is nothing keeping them apart. Not so fast, there still are their children. Gerardo insists that the kids will have to understand sooner or later. Regina is just not sure. Gerardo cannot give her up. They kiss. Not known to Regina and Gerardo, there is a guard-goon who has been spying on them for Alonso.

Omar's room--Alonso is on the phone with the guard-goon getting updated on the situation and is having a hard time hearing the guard-goon so he is shouting into the phone. Omar hears it is about Regina cheating so he starts a hysterical rant screaming "Kill her!!!" over and over again. Alonso is trying to scream above the crazed Omar so the guard-goon does not shoot. The guard-goon has his gun trained on Regina.

Now we're seeing an assassination attempt on Regina so that Alonso becomes President.

Gracias, Jarifa..

It looks like Alonso has just hit an incest triple play:

-- He boinks his wife's sister (although he still doesn't know this)
-- He and Emiliano boink the same woman (Regina's sister)
-- He boinks his father's whore

Maybe this could put him in a psyche ward?

I wonder whether anyone will point out that Gerardo's arm has been in a sling and he's in no position to do anything like that to Teresa.

More later.

Urban, your "incest triple play" is perfect!! I sure hope they all find out that Cecilia is Regina's sister so we can hear an audible "ick" and see Alonso with his face scrunched up in his usual puzzled expression as he tries to figure it all out. Good observation also about Gerardo with his arm in a sling.

Natalia just cannot escape that family connection with José working for Mario now.

Teresa sure turned a new corner down that twisted street of crazy town tonight. I wasn't expecting that but it is totally in keeping with her character.

There is no hope for Marcia. She is a goner.

The ending scene with crazed Omar screaming and a bad cell phone connection was wonderfully frustrating. I cannot wait until Monday.

Jarifa: Marcia brought this on HERSELF!

Steve, she sure did. She got greedy!

There are only ten episodes left so they better reveal that soon. My greatest concern of the moment is the possibility that we could end up with this never being revealed at all, considering that this series breaks a number of rules already OR...

...there is still the possibility that Cecelia isn't Mario's child and Isela had been scamming him for her daughter's entire life. Considering how evil this woman is that would not surprise me one bit.

Excellent recap as usual, Jarifa! I was surprised at Mauro's reaction. But good for him! Anger and getting his old life back is a lot more healthy than despair and suicide. Oh oh! Lorena's taking charge of the drug traffickers seems dangerous--wonder how long she'll last. I'm glad Gerardo found out about Teresa's deception so quickly. Jarifa: I loved your "guard-goon." Whoa, Urban! Gerardo's wounded arm will probably save him from accusations.

Thank you so much, Jarifa! And a big thank you to, Cynthia as well! I just caught up and your recaps cleared up a lot of political plot points I was confused about. One of the things I love (and hate) about this novela is how they throw you in the middle of things. As a viewer it's thrilling, as a recapper, ugh!

I'm glad the baby bump (not!) discovery was not dragged out. Man, if most galans just went to the doctor and found out what happened, we've solve a lot pod problems. I love that Gerardo never wavered though, through Teresa and Ximena and everything. Stevey, originally said Gerardo was like Max in YNCELH but this was one of those times were I felt he was. His love for Regina is something to see and I hope they get to be happy. I hope they get that happy ending they deserve.

Ad for Alonso, how sick (and frankly kind of gross) is it to want the people your son and father have slept with? It's not a sexual history type of thing but I just told this woman to seduce my son but hey a roll in the sack, why not? EWWWWWWWW

I hadn't thought of Gerardo's arm either but I hope that is Teresa's down fall.

I thought Lorena was a little cleaner than entertaining thugs but guess not.

Emiliano and Ximena are just so weird. No. Too awkward on everyone's part.

Thanks, everyone for stopping by and your kind comments.

SpanProf, I hope Mauro is able to get out now that he has made his decision.

Alfredo, the political twists and turns have been confusing in any language. : ( I, too, appreciated Gerardo TAKING ACTION which so few galanes or leading ladies do which always ends in the endless chain of malentendidos. I hope we see this more often. It sure moves the plot along,

OT : Span Prof-- Odi daydreaming about the baby dying so his cemetery could be inaugurated as Santina is in labor (yikes!) but I just can't hate because him he is so transparent and humanly flawed. Then the pressure on him as they decide the baby doesn't look like Dirceo at all. Too bad this never would have had enough interest to be recapped.

Jarifa: I'm still holding my breath Regina wins the Presidency.

Jarifa: OT: Bien observado. I'm thinking that they should be announcing ultimas semanas for El bienamado, or do they not do that for the 5PM shows? Sounds as if you might be a little behind where the broadcast telenovela is, so I won't spoil things for you. (Otoh, I really enjoyed Alexis' and Jordi's graduation from UCLA--though given the small size of the ceremony, it must have been the winter or summer graduation, and only for their part of the business major.)

SpanProf: OT: you never know when they will announce or not announce últimas semanas. Uni is not very consistent about anything. Truth of the matter is I missed a couple of episodes prior to where I am which is about 4-6 episodes behind the broadcast if that makes sense. Anyway, you never have to worry about ruining things for me talking about future plot points because I am one of those rare (?) people who doesn't care about spoilers. You are very perceptive about the sizes of graduation ceremonies! I was not happy finding out that Santina has a heart condition. With La candidata ending and El bienamado close to it, I will be down to Mi marido tiene familia and La Reina del sur (Netflix) Much more manageable.

Jarifa: When they both end, I think I will pick up Mi marido tiene familia--a much more convenient time, too!

Jarifa, thank you!

Tere has definetly lost it, not that she's been sane at all, but to get beat up by a goon just to blame Gerardo, please!

I still have hope for Lorena, she is in this mess because of what Alonso and Mauro did to her, but I hope she is just gathering intel, and she will be the one to help Escalante to his accomodations at the prison.

Thank you Jarifa! Wow, Teresa has sunk to a new low now pretending that Gerardo abused her. I so wish she could fall down the "stairs of doom" somewhere.

I was confused about Jose. Did he really decide to work for Mario or did he change his mind?

Urban, you are so right on about Alonso and his triple play incest. Gross!

Sandie, I wish Lorena would be able to get out of this unscathed but now with El Chulo/Joaquín involved, I frankly don't see it.

Cynthia, José did not change his mind.

Things just seem to be spiraling downward and out of control. It seems that each episode is worse for the halfway decent characters than the one before it.

Thanks for stopping by, everyone, as we move into the last two weeks..
