Mi Marido Tiene Familia #47, 10/26/2017: A Child Lost

Imelda and Blanca regret that the Jamaica water spilled on the invitations and assure Juls they didn’t want that to happen. Juls puts the invitations back in the box because now that they have Jamaica water on them, they are no good. She will see what she can do with them. Blanca doesn’t want Juls to think she did it on purpose. Imelda and Blanca offer to have some “better” ones made, but Julieta makes it clear that those are the ones she and Robert liked. Juls tells them not to worry; she has to rush to deliver them. As Juls leaves, Blanca stops her and tells her she didn’t mean what she said. She has a lot of anger and let it out the wrong way. She continues that she did want another type of woman for RobPablo; Juls is so modern and impulsive. Blanca realizes she is being insensitive again, but emphasizes that little by little she has grown to know and appreciate Juls. When Julieta flinches; Blanca asks if she feels sick. Juls says no and it has been a bad day. Blanca thinks about how things have not turned out the way Juls thought, but Juls say some things are good and they have to live with the rest. After Juls leaves, Blanca goes back in and tells Imelda that’s what there is and Imelda tells her that’s what she said when Eugenio wanted to marry her.

At the restaurant Dani is told that her boss and her friend are killing each other. As each is being held back from fighting, Gabi tells Ben he doesn’t want someone like him in his restaurant, nor the “ladies” that came with him. In the kitchen, Dani grabs a big ladle. When she gets to the brawl, she jumps in with some ferocious Kung Fu moves and asks why they are fighting. Gabi and Ben stop, so Gabi tells Danilo to give Benjamin the check so they can pay and leave. When Benjamin complains, Gabi tells them they either pay or he will call the police; so Benjamin’s friends come toward Gabi but Dani stops them with her Kung Fu moves and ladle/sword in hand.

Julieta walks into her apartment and hears Eugenio and RobPablo who are laughing and having a good time painting. When she is impressed and asks what they do, Eugenio tells her he is preparing the room for his grandson. Juls is glad that least they are having a good time and wonders if RobPablo is going to leave her some space to do her own decorating. When Eugenio asks what else she wants to do since they are there, Juls replies that right now she has to obtain new invitations because there was an accident and they are all stained. When she shares that her mother said she wouldn’t be going to the wedding, both men sigh; so Juls tells them she will take care of it, so they should continue. When she is alone, Juls opens the box of invitations and remembers how her mother said she wouldn’t go and Imelda complaining about the invitations. She leans back holding her stomach and starts counting.

Ana is in her bedroom thinking about Julián when Tulio enters. Ana says “No” (to Julian) so Tulio asks, “No what?” Quick on her feet, Ana tells him she didn’t like the lipstick; and that she thought he would arrive later. Tulio replies he is tired and needs to sleep. Before he leaves, he comments that she is right; the lipstick doesn’t look good on her.

Benjamin asks how long Dani has worked there, but Dani tells him to pay and not make problems for her. Benjamin explains that he planned this party because it was the only way opportunity he had to see her. When Dani walks away, Benjamin tells Danilo he will pay whatever; he did everything for Dani.

Xavi sees Mari as she waits for Frida and asks how she is doing. She tells him she has met many people with her new job and has obtained a lot of orders. When she asks how things are going for him, and what the famous manger said, they are going to start with a promotion plan but there is a problem… he doesn’t know what they will be promoting. He did sign the contract though. He shares that he is scared to start over, so Mari assures him everybody is scared when they start anew…like her. When Mari complains that Frida’s bus is taking long, he offers to wait with her. Xavi then confides he is tired of being alone, he only has his piano and guitar as friends. He would really like to find someone special among all the multitudes.

Linda is at work when she receives a text from Bruno and gets all excited wondering what she should do. She decides to respond, so Bruno wants to see her after work; she agrees and starts yelling with glee.

Frida is glad Xavi is there. She told all her friends about the lessons and someday she will give a concert. She also told them he would take them to one of his concerts. He agrees, but when she asks him to promise, he doesn’t like to make promises that he has no control over. At her insistence, he promises.

Juls is in the baby’s room painting with Luz as she tells Luz that her mother-in-law is a woman alone, lacking love and attention; that is why she is the way she is. She is like a child. Luz tells her children are like that; they like an audience. When she asks Juls how she feels, Juls says she is a bundle of emotions…very happy for the baby, worried about her wedding, sad about her mother; sometimes she wishes RobPablo would give her all his attention…and there are so many costs. As Juls continues to paint, she gets a severe pain in her uterus so Luz immediately calls RobPablo while Juls goes to the bathroom, but he’s in surgery. Julieta comes out and tells Luz she is bleeding, so they need to go to the hospital and call her gynecologist to tell her they are on their way.

At her dance class which is finishing up, Amalia wonders if Enzo will stay behind for those that made mistakes, but he says “no,” everyone was perfect. After Amalia whines, he asks for her sisters, so she tells him they are no longer interested in the class. She wants to be the instructor’s one and only favorite.

Sitting on a bench, Blanca suggests that Belén give herself an opportunity to fall in love again. Belén refuses; she only loved once and that will not happen again. She continues to wait for her husband just as Blanca waited for her son. She hopes her husband remembers her and that everything will return as before. Blanca tells her that waiting can drive her crazy, but Belén argues that her craziness is her hope. Belén wonders how Amalia can think she would be interested Enzo, the instructor. Belén then comments that doesn’t think Enzo will fall for Amalia; those type of men like pretty women. Blanca prays that Amalia find someone to love her. Belén suggests there is more hope for her than for Amalia meeting someone. They have already looked through all the dating sites to no avail, not even the cats pay attention to her.

As Gabi drives and Dani walks, Gabi explains to Dani that he only did it for her, but she retorts that she doesn’t need him to help her. After he asks her to get in so he can take her home, he gets off as Blanca and Belen watch. When Gabi tells her he is trying to exist for only her, Dani doesn’t understand men or how their feelings can change from one moment to the next; that’s why she wants them far away. Gabi pleads that he wants them to get along, but she is difficult; and it’s difficult to get along with her…she is very rude. When she tells him to leave her alone, he replies he won’t do it, but doesn’t finish explaining why. As they look at each other, he gets closer to kiss her, but she steps back; so he kisses his hand and is going to offer it to her, but she asks him not to be confused or to confuse her. Just then Blanca and Belen arrive and start yelling and hitting him with their purses. When Dani stops them, Gabi comments that he already had enough strikes for the day. When Blanca asks who that man is, Dani tells them he’s her boss; so they apologize and introduce themselves.

In the hospital, Juls lays in bed breathing heavily and cries as the doctor checks her. Outside in the hallway, RobPablo sees Luz and wonders what she is doing there. When Luz tells him Juls felt sick, he immediately asks where she is. Luz explains about Juls’s pain and bleeding; so RobPablo hurries off to the emergency room.

Back on the sidewalk, Blanca and Belén say they had never seen a boss act like that; it looked like Gabi wanted to kiss her. Gabi explains that they are confused; he was only trying to help Dani. He offers to take them home, but when Dani refuses, Blanca insists in accepting. Belén thinks Dani has a nice looking boss. Gabi and Dani reproachfully look at each other.

At the hospital, RobPablo asks the doctor how Juls is. The doctor somberly tells him she is sorry; Juls lost the baby. As RobPablo’s tears start flowing, he remembers when Juls first told him about the baby and how he told her the important thing is that they will be together. As he continues to cry, he remembers the precious moments with Blanca and painting the baby’s room with his father. In her room, Juls cries as she also remembers the precious moments—telling RobPablo how anxious she is to have the baby, RobPablo telling her he awaits their child, Blanca saying the family is very happy with the arrival of the baby. She turns on her side as her tears stream down her face.

In the hallway, RobPablo asks the doctor how Juls is. The doctor tells him she is very affected; this is one of the most difficult things for a woman to go through. When RobPablo asks what happened, the doctor tells him there was a problem with her uterus; sometimes the body just makes decisions for us. She then advises him that he needs to be with her as much as possible. RobPablo slowly enters the room as Juls lies facing away from the door. He approaches slowly and reaches out, but hesitates not knowing what to say. He finally touches her; and she starts sobbing as he gets closer to hug her. He gently kisses her shoulder, then her cheek, as they both mourn the loss of their child.

In front of the Córsega building, Gabi arrives with the girls and opens the door for Blanca who is impressed that he is such a gentleman. When Belén wonders what happened to his face; Gabi explains that sometimes life wants to even out the competition from other men...so then come the fists. Blanca thinks he is amusing. As Gabi kisses her hand and Blanca invites him for coffee or tea, Dani interrupts and tells Blanca he doesn’t drink either one. When Gabi reminds Dani he once had tea at her house, Dani explains he was there to see Juls who was his teacher. Blanca thinks there isn’t much age difference between him and Juls, so Gabi clarifies that Juls was an adjunct professor at the university. Blanca then realizes that he had tea in her house alone with Dani without adult supervision. Dani tells her not to misinterpret things. Gabi turns down the offer saying he will let them go rest, so Blanca insists that he has to come over for dinner…or chocolate with bread since they own the bakery. Gabi promises to come have dinner and some chocolate some other day and kisses their hands again. After he leaves, Belén thinks Gabi is charming and Blanca starts in on Dani too, but Dani stops her saying that Gabi is her boss so there will be no dinners…or chocolate…or anything, When Dani walks away, Blanca thinks there is something suspicious; they probably have something going on. When Belen agrees, Blanca shares she has always prayed the Dani find a good man; if this one is interested in Dani, it would be a blessing.

Linda meets Bruno at the park doesn’t know why he wanted to meet her there. As she was coming she was thinking about giving him back the shoes he bought for her she is not interested in what he buys her. She has never felt or said this…but she loves him. Bruno wonders if she knows how much he has missed her. She is the girl he has liked most during all this time. Gifts shouldn’t be returned. As Bruno puts her shoes back on, he tells her they deserve another chance and asks her to be his girlfriend again. She immediately says yes. NOOOT!! She was daydreaming on the bus!!

In their bedroom, Dani hopes Linda doesn’t fall flat on her face; the guy told her he didn’t want her. But Linda chides Dani that she knows nothing about relationship, so Dani refuses to get involved again and warns Linda that she’d better be careful or she will be crying again. After Linda mocks Dani and suggests she should be the president of the singles club, Dani sprays at Linda and mocks her for thinking the world is just peachy just because some guy called her. Linda thinks things always work out for her in the end…instead of being called Linda, she wants to be called “Perfect.”

At Cat’s house, CatDQ yells and wants to know what Bruno is doing going out so late, but he insists he needs to go out. CatDQ then wonders if he is leaving the house since he is packing, but he has nowhere else to go. CatDQ gives a sigh of relief and blames her reaction to the trauma of being abandoned. Bruno then explains he is going to return these things that were given to him…he doesn’t like them anymore.

At the Córsega dinner table, Blanca tells Dani to stop scolding her. Dani chides her for practically begging Gabi to notice her (as a woman). When Dani tells them she is not interested in finding love, Imelda chimes in that it’s not a matter of her buying love, just obtaining it; if she’s not careful, she will be the living picture of her Aunt Amalia. Dani thinks there is nothing wrong with being single and asks her father to help her out. Instead, Eugenio say a man’s company is not bad and uses her mother as an example; Blanca would have a different life if he hadn’t married her. Imelda agrees that without Eugenio, Blanca might not have a husband. Blanca wonders if he is serious…

At the hospital, Juls wants to know why it happened. As RobPablo strokes her hair, RobPablo tells her not to wonder why it happened…it just happened. Juls feels bad; she wrote to the baby that she loved him…she loves him…as she sobs. RobPablo assures her that they will continue together at this moment and forever; they told each other they would grow old together; now more than ever, she has his support. She shouldn’t blame herself or hurt herself; they have to be strong and accept God’s decision. RobPablos tells her he loves her; she is the most important thing in his existence. She thanks him and asks him not to let her go. He assures her he will always be there and never let her go…he promises as they hold hands and lay close together.

The doctor and RobPablo walk down the hospital corridor as she tells him they are coordinating everything to complete the D&C; she will notify him of any change. He asks for a favor; he wants to be the one to tell Juls. When he approaches Luz, she asks how Juls is, but Rob can only say that he can’t stand to see her like that. As he cries, he shares they had so much hopes for having the baby. Luz suggests they can try again, but he thinks it’s too soon to talk about that right now. When Luz asks to see Juls, Rob thinks it will help Juls very much. Daphne happens by and wonders why he looks so sad.

At the dinner table, Dani chides Linda for wanting to go out to meet Bruno. Dani doesn’t think happiness should depend on being with someone. She is tired that they make her feel like her life has no meaning just because she doesn’t have a boyfriend; where does that leave her.

As Dani sits alone in her room, Gabi calls her and she answers quite professionally. When he wonders why she is in such a mood, she snaps that she is responding as his employee. Gabi explains he is just calling to say he liked her neighborhood where he even found a nice gym and spa; he also enjoyed meeting her mother. She remains quiet, so Gabi assumes she doesn’t want to talk so he says good-bye, but she tells him to wait. Gabi is frustrated and tells her that now it is he who doesn’t feel like talking. He says good bye to his “esteemed employee” wishing her rest and hangs up.

At the hospital, Daphne advises RobPablo that women who miscarry tend to think they are responsible; so he needs to be with her. When Daphne asks how he is, he shares that he feels really bad, but he has to be strong for Juls. He doesn’t want Juls blaming herself. He then confides that he had so many hopes of being a father…and so did his family; they even had a party and gave them a crib. Daphne suggests he talk to his family; their opinions will affect Juls. Rob can only imagine how his mother and grandmother will react. Daphne advises that Juls may think she is the only one that is hurting, but needs to realize that others are willing to share her pain.

Luz is with Juls who asks about RobPablo; so Luz tells her he is very sad, but handling it. Luz knows that this has been devastating for Juls, but she wants to help her. Luz points out that Juls already knows she wants a baby and to get married. When Juls tries to hold back her tears, Luz tells her to cry; it will do her good. Juls then tells her not to take it wrong, but she feels all alone; she wishes she had her mother there. Luz assures her that she has many people that care for her and she is a woman that is admired by many.
Luz goes out to the hallway and tells RobPablo Juls wants her mother there. RobPablo asks Luz to make the call, but to tell CatDQ to be prudent; he doesn’t want Juls to feel worse. When RobPablo walks away, Luz gives Daphne a suspicious look.

At CatDQ’s house. Diana discusses their finances noting that without the money Juls would give them, they will not be able to maintain the house’ they need to save money somehow or mortgage the house. As Hugo mentions that if Bruno would contribute, it would help, CatDQ receives the call from Luz. She actually asks how Juls is…she will be there soon. As CatDQ cries, she tells Hugo and Diana that Juls is in the hospital; she prays to God that he not take her little girl. Diana ask for details, but CatDQ doesn’t know; she was just told that she needs to go alone.

As Juls is wheeled in for surgery, RobPablo reassures her that she is strong and that he loves her. When they take her in, he cries as Luz watches. He excuses himself and tells her that ever since he was a child, he hates good-byes. He panics just thinking that he could lose Juls. Luz suggests he go in with Juls, but he doesn’t want to make Juls more nervous. Later, Luz talks to CatDQ and asks her not to be judgmental; Juls needs a loving mother. CatDQ understands Juls is suffering. As she cries, CatDQ can’t believe Juls lost the baby…her first grandchild.

As he waits, RobPablo calls his adoptive parents. He asks them to forgive him for not telling them sooner about the pregnancy. They are very sorry and want to come to Mexico that same day, but RobPablo thinks he and Juls need time to understand what just happened. His mother respects their decision and will give them time. RobPablo cries and shares that he wishes he could take all of Juls’s pain and carry it. He immediately hangs up when the doctor comes and reports that Juls is doing well, but they found some tearing and other problems they hadn’t anticipated. There is also a laceration in the uterus making it very weak. When the doctor tells RobPablo that it is highly probable that Juls may not be able to get pregnant again, RobPablo is devastated and cannot hold back his tears; he cries quietly.

What a tremendous performance by David and Zuria...they had me crying in every one of their scenes.

More tomorrow...

Thank you, RgvChick, for another one of your always excellent recaps.

ITA about the performances of Daniel Arenas and Zuria Vega. They were truly outstanding,

There was so much to like about this episode like Daniela with her ladle keeping all the guys under control.

Yay! Linda's reunion with Bruno was only a dream.

So, it seems that Eugenio and Imelda had to remind Blanca that she might not even have a roof over her head if it weren't for her marriage to Eugenio. Guess they had to make sure Blanca was humiliated enough to keep her in her place. That little interchange showed Eugenio in not a very good light. Imelda is a lost cause. Will this spur Blanca on to further action to extricate herself from her "determined" role?

I loved the little look Luz gave Daphne.

Thanks RgvChick!

Talk about an emotional episode! One minute I was laughing with Dani and Gabriel and the next I was shedding tears with Julieta and Robert. I guess that was a good balance otherwise it would have been an extremely depressing episode. I agree. Excellent work by both Daniel and Zuria. They actually made me cry. It was absolutely devastating. All their high hopes, happy anticipation and dreams.... gone. I know Robert is trying to be strong for Julieta but after that last bit of news I'm not sure he'll be able to hide his sadness.

Daniela and her sword/ladle made me laugh so much. I had to watch it again. All of the scenes with Dani + Gabe made me laugh. "he is trying to exist for only her" aww. He tried to kiss her. That's a baby step forward. Too bad Dani believes he's confused....No! He likes you!

I love how he got beaten with bags and the next he's charming Dani's mom and aunt. The look on her face when he was kissing their hands and being the dramatic extra man he is, was very amusing to watch. "Blanca then realizes that he had tea in her house alone with Dani without adult supervision." I'm sorry? Adult supervision??? She's 34!

I was not very happy to hear what Eugenio and Imelda had to say about Blanca. I'm starting to feel sorry for her. She doesn't deserve to be treated this way. She's had a tough life and looks like being in this family has not made things easier. I hope Blanca finds her place in the world or herself the one she seems to have misplaced for a Córcega wife.

I suspect this lost baby isn't going to be easy for the family either. They were all so happy. I think it's going to be a sad couple of episodes. It'll be hard to get back up after this.

-Jackie

RgvChick, thank you for handling this tragic episode with sensitivity and warmth. It was incredible.

"He finally touches her; and she starts sobbing as he gets closer to hug her. He gently kisses her shoulder, then her cheek, as they both mourn the loss of their child" painted the sad picture with a perfect brush stroke.

If Uni hadn't been running a 30 second clip which left no doubt Julieta was going to lose the baby, this would have been even more shocking. Yet, I was crying along with you last night. Sometimes there are no words.

I am hanging onto hope as you noted the doctor said "it is highly probable that Juls may not be able to get pregnant again". Perhaps I'm grasping at straws, but hope is everything and I often say sometimes it is all we have.

I also enjoyed Luz's look at Daphne. I must say though that I did not detect anything inappropriate in the way Daphne acted or anything she said. If she was secretly calculating that she may slide into Rob's life like a snake, it was lost on me.

I also didn't think it was at all selfish that Cat's heart ached for losing her first grand child. She was clearly concerned for Julieta. Could there possibly be hope for her?

I enjoyed Dani's martial arts moves with the ladle and Gabi's fawning and fussing over the ladies (much to Dani's consternation).

"Belén refuses; she only loved once and that will not happen again. She continues to wait for her husband just as Blanca waited for her son". Hmmm. Now this is a story I am anxious to see more of!

What I didn't like "instead of being called Linda, she wants to be called “Perfect” (eye roll with pure disgust on my end), Tulio's "Before he leaves, he comments that she is right; the lipstick doesn’t look good on her" and "Amalia whines.... She wants to be the instructor’s one and only favorite".

I am disquieted by Imelda who does nothing to encourage Blanca to be her own woman. Jarifa, I didn't like what she or Eugenio said to Blanca either. Not surprising from Imelda, but was from Eugenio. Granted, he is not picture perfect but I expected more. That said, Blanca must stop being so harsh to Julieta.

My mind is trying to blame Ana in some form or fashion for the miscarriage. It makes no sense, I know. But I know that whatever transpires from this point on, Julieta will not be drawn into a world of darkness, bitterness and hatred.

That beautiful crib and nursery. I was wondering, what should Robert do? Erase all traces of their existence I suppose?

The only comfort is that Julieta and Robert will get through this. Together.

RgvChick, thank you for your excellent recap.

Diana

Diana, could Blanca actually be jealous of Julieta? Maybe Blanca could dampen/ignore her own desires when an example of all she might have been (Julieta) wasn't living "in her face" everyday. This is another plot line I did not expect but I like it.

Yes, we need more if Belén's story!

Jackie, Gabriel was the perfect charmer with Blanca and Imelda. Daniela looked like she was ready to jump out of her skin.

Jarifa, excellent point! I'm wondering if the real difference might be Eugenio vs. Robert?

When you stop and think about it, Blanca really is not too dissimilar from Julieta. They are both loving partners and have accomplished a great deal. Blanca has always worked but received little or no credit. She raised a family and having 3 good children speaks volumes (notice I'm omitting the 4th - a spoiled brat).

Imelda overall has been more hurtful than helpful. Blanca to Julieta? The story is still being written. And while Eugenio appears to love Blanca, there is little show of affection. While Robert basks in pride and admiration for his partner, Eugenio takes his for granted. He is a product of his generation, but not too late for him to change.

Jackie, our comments crossed. "I hope Blanca finds her place in the world or herself the one she seems to have misplaced for a Córcega wife". Amen....

Diana

RgvChick - Millones de gracías for this recap! Truly! Our DVR has tanked and nothing recorded last night, at all. (We can watch live TV, but no recording capability any more, no "pause", etcl) Ah, technology; can't live with it and can't live without it. Blasted thing probably needs to be replaced and, with AT&T, that could take a week. And we will lose all the shows we have saved on it. Rats!

Oh how I especially hate that I missed this episode, of all episodes! (*!@#&%$ blasted DVR!!!)

I can NOT believe Juls lost the baby. Oh noes! ~sob~ It now begs the question as to whether she and RobPab will go thru with the wedding. With the baby gone, there is no pressure to marry soon, the invitations are already trashed (literally and figuratively), and her emotional blackmailing mother has threatened to boycott.

I've been wondering if we would have the miscarriage scare (Telenovela Rules) and never, ever guessed Juls would actually miscarry. ~sobs~
WHY does she want to see her hateful *witch* of a mother? That's like going to the hardware store for bread.

". . . could Blanca actually be jealous of Julieta?" I have often wondered about that, too. I think Blanca is a bit envious but not conscious of it.

I also suspect Imelda does not want Blanca to grow wings and is undermining B's efforts. People do that because they fear being left behind. It is a psychological phenomenon that keeps many people from succeeding, bettering themselves, etc.,

Many times, people (like Blanca) do not grow their wings because then their old network/family/friends (Imelda) will be left behind and they will have nothing in common anymore, yet there is no network of friends, support, etc. in their new level of life (usually an economic improvement). Furthermore, that old "system" (Imelda) shuns them. That fear often keeps people rooted in a certain place (oftentimes poverty), no matter how oppressive it is. And the cycle continues. Well, I don't know if I wrote that so that it makes sense, but I hope it does.

I hate that I missed the Gab/Dani scenes. Wah!

"the invitations are already trashed (literally and figuratively)" was great doris.

Your rationale for both Blanca and Imelda's inability to grow/accept change made so much sense! Thank you...

I hope that Robert and Julieta go forward with their marriage plans when they recover (as much as humanly possible) from their grief. But I suspect that will be quite a way away.

Diana

Thank you, Jarifa, Jackie, Diana and Doris for bringing such great insight into this episode.

ITA with the ". . . could Blanca actually be jealous of Julieta?" thought. I really do think Blanca is envious, not just of Julieta's independence, confidence and perseverance, but also of the relationship she has with Robert. Diana, you made the comparison so eloquently.

I had another thought...could the loss of this baby be a precursor for Robert's empathy and forgiveness of Ana's unconscionable act? I also fear Imelda's reaction...I'm starting to despise that woman. Will she make the same statement to Robert that she made to Tulio? I really hope they keep her away from Julieta.

Dani was hilarious flashing that ladle around and making those moves. And I am so impressed with how she stood her ground with Benjamin. Unfortunately, her experience with him has jaded her view of men. I do hope Gabi's persistence and love penetrate that shield she has built around herself.

Thanks so much RGV!!!!

I echo everyone else's sentiments. Heart breaking. Seems especially cruel given that they didn't want children, and then were so happy when it did happen, to now have that taken away and might not ever get back. I can't help but blame it all on stress. The cumulative affect of what her mom, Blanca and Imelda said, and the ruined invitations. Also that morning Blanca going off about the washing machine.

I'm hoping Ana, since she has been through it several times, will try to give some comfort. Though it seems she didn't get any comfort from Tulio's family while she was going through it maybe she will try to be there for Juli and Rob.

I thought the advice Daphne gave Rob was really good.

When Cat got the phone call from Luz, it was the first time I've seen her have true emotion--not manufactured for guilt. It was nice to see she actually cared about Juli.

Oh that Gabi could charm a snake. And I have to thank the writers for the sauna scene. Damn that guy is good looking!

Linda has no pride. She just jumped when Bruno says he wants to see her. At least it looks like he is giving back all of the things she bought him.

Did Hugo get a job? I didn't catch what he said.

I worry what the Corsega's are going to say and do when they find out that the possibility of Juli having a child is slim to none. We will see if Imelda has learned anything since her treatment of Ana. It is no coincidence that Rob called his adoptive parents for support. I'm surprised he hadn't told them about the pregnancy though but I guess they have been traveling too.

If the damage is so bad that Juls cannot have any more children, that opens the door for adopting little David in the future.

Carvivlie, ITA that Daphne's advice was good. She was in therapist/counselor mode. Still, I hope RobPab keeps his distance from her. Telenovela villanas have a bad reputation of getting a guy drunk and tricking him into thinking they slept together and causing her fake pregnancy. 😜😜😜 Doubtful this 'novela will go there, but who knows!

I am waiting to see Robert's adoptive parents up close and personal because they are his family, too, Maybe for the wedding?

doris, thanks for your insight on people being stuck in their station of life due to social needs and pressures. I never thought about it quite like that.

Daphne is just a viper coiled and waiting to strike. I do not trust her.

Rgv, interesting thought that the shared loss of a child and the resultant suffering might help Robert eventually forgive Ana for his own abduction.

"could the loss of this baby be a precursor for Robert's empathy and forgiveness of Ana's unconscionable act?"

What a profound question RgvChick.

Intellectually, that makes perfect sense. The intense and intolerable loss of a miscarriage likely cannot be truly felt except by those who have experienced it. Because he is a wonderful man, this terrible mutual experience may allow him to forgive.

Emotionally, I'm not so sure. Ana is someone he sees frequently. She is family (as abhorrent as that is). Once he puts the pieces together, memories of torment and abandonment will surely wash over him. I don't think their mutually shared grievous loss can overcome what occurred. He may forgive but I don't think he can have her in his life as she would be a constant, painful reminder of treachery that defies imagination.

Diana

I can see Rob forgiving Ana and never telling his family.

It is hard for me to equate her many miscarriages and what she did to Rob. If she had had a momentary moment of madness, dropped him off, just to have the family experience her pain for a day, and then went back for him, I could forgive. But neither she nor Tulio went back for him. I wonder how quickly he was adopted?

Gabi and Dani are such polar opposites and Linda and Bruno are exactly the same.

Excellent recap, Rgv Chick! That was so sad! But I agree with Diana that we were left with a little hope--Julieta only probably can't have more children, so for the rest of the novel there will be the suspenseful plot line of Is she or isn't she. Also, RobPablo has the example of his adoptive parents, and he ahd Juls will probably end up adopting Dave and maybe a baby. I too love Dani's ninja/king fu moves with the huge soup ladle. I suspect that Bruno is planning another putdown for Linda--by giving back all her gifts to him. Great sociological analysis of Blanca and Imelda, Doris! Carvivlie: Hugo got the job at the aquarium.

Carvivlie, yes, Hugo got a job at an aquarium a couple of episodes after he was fired by the vet. I didn't include it in the recap, but he did offer to contribute ALL his salary (which probably isn't much) to help out with the costs.

I also agree that Daphne was very professional and gave some very fitting advice to Robert. OTOH, Jarifa, "Daphne is just a viper coiled and waiting to strike. I do not trust her." ME, neither! She smiled when Luz gave her that look; if she had been sincere and truly cared about Julieta, I think she would have lost the smile and have more of a concerned look.

Diana: Yes! We finally got a bit of insight on Belen and her story. Now we just need to continue on with the story. How is it possible that we get more Linda/Bruno scenes then what could actually be an interesting subplot.

Jarifa that is a good point. Maybe she does not realize it now but she's jealous that Julieta is so free and has made all these decisions in her life for herself and din't have to succumb to old demeaning traditions.

Doris! I suggest you watch the Gabriel and Daniela scenes. They are worth watching. I might just watch those parts hen I find it OnDemand.

RgvChick: You're right. Unfortunately right now it seems Dani's view of men is jaded. Based on that conversation at dinner it seems she wants everyone away. I think after being alone for so long, watching examples in the family, her parents Marisol and her ex-husband, she's just grown used to the idea that she's never going to have anyone in her life. You don't let anyone in you don't get hurt right? I do believe she still needs closure with Benjamin (I'd rather we not) but I believe Gabriel is one who doesn't give up. He'll be the one to break down Dani's walls.

Also very interesting. I never thought about that. This experience helping him forgive Ana...but what about the rest of the family. I guess that remains to be the main question. Will they forgive her?

Carvivlie: Yeah I think Hugo said he got a job at the aquarium. Wasn't Robert adopted shortly after? in flashbacks he's still young. It would explain why they never found him. By the time they probably searched in that orphanage he was already in the united states. Dani and Gabe are polar opposites yes. opposites attract. Like forces repel. I expect Linda and Bruno to have lots of problems until they both decide to grow up.

I don't think I'm ready to see how Robert will react next. He looks so wounded... I can't.

SpanProf & Rgv Chick: Haha Whoops. I did not see that you two had answered already about Hugo.

And speaking of Hugo's aquarium job, at least fish aren't apt to run off. I'd be careful with drains, though.

SpanProf: She lost the baby ?

Steve: Yes, it was extremely sad and very well acted by both protagonists.

"And speaking of Hugo's aquarium job, at least fish aren't apt to run off. I'd be careful with drains, though".

Thanks SpanProf, I needed that :)

I'm glad he's got a job but it looks like Diana is carrying the four of them now.

LOL

We are the luckiest people on earth. I called AT&T Uverse and they had someone out ... today! Too good to be true, but he just left a few minutes ago, DVR is sorted out and MMTF will record tonight. Yay! 🎉🎊🎉

That's great, Doris...tonight will probably require more tissue...can't wait!

Rgv, beautiful butterfly! Ours are long gone.

More good news. Someone mentioned watching this episode On Demand, and ... yes! I found last nights episode and watched it.

Juls losing the baby was very well done. I was crying thru the whole thing, and I only ever cried one other time over a telenovela. Well directed, well acted, well filmed. Miscarriage is always so traumatic. Whenever a woman even has outpatient procedure at a hospital, they always ask (and have for decades) if you have ever lost a child. They ask how many children, how many live births. That has been my experience. Losing a child at any point in time, including miscarriage, is a traumatic loss for the mother.

On the brighter side, the Gabri/Fani scenes were a hoot. Thank goodness for comic relief. Gab charming Blanca and Belen was just wonderful. Well, they were a hoot, too. I have always liked Gabriel and now I'm a complete fan of his. 😍😍😍

Oh, and I was appalled the OB/GYN told RobPab about the miscarriage in the hall. She could have told him in the privacy of an office with him sitting down.

Doris, so glad yuo were able to watch last night's episode...it was definitely worth looking for.

Jarifa, that butterfly grabbed on to whatever it could when the cold front blew in today. I guess I was the first "limb" it could find :-D

Beautiful butterfly Rgv Chick!
