Caer En Tentacion #50, 12/29/17: De tal palo tal astilla, or in other words, the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. And in Mia’s case the tree is Miriam.

Santi tells Raquel that it is not that he mistrusts her but he is going crazy, many things are happening and they want to take his son away. He can’t tolerate the thought of losing Benji and also losing her. “Benji is mine, I don’t care what a paper says, and then to lose you, forgive me” “you hurt me Santi” He tells her he is sorry and that he is destroyed, and to lose her he would not know what to do. “Sorry, sorry” and then gets close to her and they kiss.
Miriam says that she will not fight for a son that was born outside of the marriage. Rueda and Andres try to convince Miriam that she can fight for custody of Benjamin, and at the same time she would hurt Santi.
Fede goes to the Alvarado’s to visit Benji and says that since Benja is his brother that makes them family. Lola says that is not the fact. Fede just says that he had a desire to see Benjamin and that everyone will take care of him like they always have.

Godoy follows Laura into her house, tells her she is going crazy. She responds by saying “You can’t leave me, you are cruel” he tells her that he is fed up with her. She then continues to play the victim and says “I don’t trust you” to which Godoy says “I also don’t trust you”. Laura explains that she never cheated on Godoy that she only got close to Juan because she was investigating Patricia’s death. Godoy finds it curious that she got close to Juan in an intimate way. He tells Laura it’s over because she is driving him crazy and he does not love her anymore. He has not fallen in love with any other woman; he just does not love her he leaves, and Laura is left to contemplate her very sad and lonely situation.
Raquel tells Santi she will never hurt him or Benji. But what about when Miriam finds out? Is what Santi wonders “she is going to want to take him away from me, and what about when Damian wakes up he will take him away from me. The law will not allow me to keep him.  What about your kids, when they find out what are they going to want to do?”
Raquel gives him two  answers “Number 1 get yourself an attorney, there may be a way for you to keep Benji and Number 2 I know my kids. Santi says he knows Mia, and that’s what worries him
Alina tells Nico everything is over and that she hates possessive people like you.  Nico replies by declaring “I love you Alina”, she slaps him and asks to be left alone.
He leaves the house and as he walks out sorry Sammy is at the door; Sammy takes off running and Nico chases him down and tells him that they need to talk.
Rueda and Andres discuss that they don’t understand why Miriam does not jump at the opportunity to hurt and get rid of Santi. Rueda does not understand why Andres hates Santi so much. He gets a call about Sammy and runs off. Andres and Miriam left alone and Andres reiterates that she can ask for Benji’s custody.
Raquel and Santi continue to make up after their misunderstanding. Raquel says that she trusts that getting all four of their kids will support him. Santi is not so sure.
Cynthia comes out and says that it’s not a good idea to get all four kids together because Mia is being influenced by Miriam. Raquel agrees but that is the reason why she needs to get Mia out of that house.
Bebo is getting released from prison Antonio tells him that what he did was wrong. Bebo says he had to do it because he needed money for his dad. Bebo says he will help prove that his dad did not kill Carolina, he will get the evidence. Antonio calls Santi to let him know Bebo is out.
Nico threatens Sammy that he will kill him if he gets close to her. He explains how Alina used him, and that he lost everything, family friends because she drove him crazy. He has a letter and Nico reads it. He tells Sammy he is crazy. Sammy then says “Tell me can you leave her, how can you live without her, what woman can give you what Alina gives you?”  Nico tells him that nothing is worth more than his life; Sammy needs to find something that adds meaning to his life. Sammy just stares and does not say a thing and walks away.
Mia and Raquel are in Damian’s office, Mia says she will not go back home. Raquel tells Mia that they need to talk about Benjamin. Mia says “what do I care about that kid?”  “Well you better care because he is your bother”
Santi and Bebo arrive at Santi’s house. Bebo thanks him for picking him up from the station, he did not have to do that, Santi explains that Bebo is like his son. Bebo says that he knows he screwed up but he had to help his dad get out of jail. Santi tells him to try to stay out of trouble, Bebo says he will. Then he tells Santi that he remembers something that may be an alibi for Nacho. Santi says he can’t help right now because of the Benji problem Bebo tells him he understands
Rueda is at Alina’s front door calls her because he is worried about Sammy he left a good bye note at the house and he cannot find him. Alina says that’s not her problem and wants Rueda and Sammy to stop contacting her. They hang up. She calls Sammy’s phone but no answer; she leaves a message telling him to stop clowning around that everyone is looking for him because they are worried.
Nico gets home and tells Lola he was not able to talk to Alina about Benji. Lola is worried because they want to take Benji away. What is wrong with you, it’s that woman right, you need to wake up they want to take Benji away from us, Mia and her grandmother are what worries me.
Raquel tells Mia that they should have a reunion with the Alvarado’s “understand you have a brother,”
“That kid has nothing to do with me so don’t count with me mom” Mia leaves Raquel in disbelief.
In the past:
Raquel and Santi having coffee, she wants to know "when you have problems why don’t you come to us who are your friends". Santi replies “Who told you, Nacho?” "yes but don’t tell him". She says that she is willing to help him financially because they are friends. Plus there is some money from the banquet profits that belongs to them, she says that "they will either help him or they will help him." (take your pick Santi, either or)
Damian calls Carol and asks what was Vicente talking about their history. What did he do for her in the past; she can’t talk about that over the phone. He then says that he wants to be part of Benji’s life but Carol says that Santi will be Benji's father.
Carol goes to tell Nico that if he is suffering for Mia he needs to leave her because he deserves better, and he is not less than the Becker’s.
Raquel tells Damian that she promised Santi to help with his project, at first Damian refuses but then leaves it up to her.
Santi gets home, hugs Lola and tells  her he is glad she is home, Lola lets them know that she is researching universities and that she will help to pay for it because she is working.  Santi looks at Lola with pride. When Lola goes to her room Santi tells Carol that Raquel is given him a loan, Carol acts all butt hurt that Santi continues asking the Beckers for help. (really Carol? really!!)
Nacho and Agustin come home to see Benjamin, they bring balloons and presents but Santi says it’s not a good time because Carol got upset about the loan that Raquel is giving them but now that they are getting the loan their project problems are over.
In the present:
Alina asks for Santi’s forgiveness because of what happened at her house. She tells him that Miriam can ask for custody but Lola and Nico can also ask for Benjamin’s custody if they can prove that they have an income. She also thinks that if Mia and Fede agree that may help.
Mia gets to her grandma’s and tells her that she does not want anything to do with Benjamin. Miriam convinces her to go and see Benjamin
Rueda gets home looking for Sammy, but Sammy is not home.
Laura goes to look for Raquel about the latest facts in the murder case. Raquel tells her that she will not talk to Laura. “it is a shame that you don’t’ want to talk about this, but keep your eyes on the news” She leaves.
Sammy is at Alina’s and tells her that Nico convinced him to find a purpose in life. And now he has found the purpose, Alina wants to know what he is talking about, but Sammy tells her she will find out soon enough.
Santi has a heart to heart conversation with Fede, Lola and Nico tells them that Benja already lost his mother and to lose his father would be devastating. He asks for Fede’s help to help him keep Benjamin. The doorbell rings at that time and it is Mia with Miriam the monster. Raquel sees Mia only at first and thinks that she is there for the meeting but then she sees Miriam who says “Good evening where is my grandson?”

Gracias, Sandie. Good work.

Mia is definitely Miriam's Mini-Me in terms of her attitude, but while Miriam is cold-blooded and delusional she isn't psychotic. I'm on the fence about whether she had a role in Carolina's death unless said death was not in the plan.

If it was in the plan I could definitely see Mia being involved.

It looks like a lot of chickens are coming home to roost in the next episode: Alina and Rueda will have very unpleasant discoveries, Laura will have to realize how her using Fernando to further her career is backfiring on her, Miriam is about to cause major trouble for Santiago, and Raquel still has to deal with her sister, whom she should toss out on her arse. Miriam must also know by now that Cinthia is a drug addict and will use that against Raquel in the upcoming custody battle over little Benjamin. While Raquel is not going to fight for custody she is now Santiago's ladylove.

Let's also not forget that Andres could trash-talk about Lola. He must know about that spring break incident although I don't think he's ready to sacrifice his friend, Miguel.

Thanks Sandie!

I really enjoy the past scenes between Raquel and Santiago. It’s sad to see what they’ve both become in the present, especially Raquel. She seemed so happy and carefree in the past. Damian killed her spirit.

I wonder what Sammy has up his sleeve. I don’t think he’d make the same mistake twice and try to kill Alina (or himself). He knows Alina better than Nico does. Nico would be wise to listen to him.

As much as he might deem it unfair, Damian should have no expectations when it comes to being able to be close to Benjamin. Carolina obviously doesn’t wanna get caught or raise suspicions so Santiago will be the father of Benjamin. Damian should’ve thought about that.

Laura was pretty dumb to go and see Raquel. Did she really think Raquel would talk?

Miriam and Mia together are a dangerous pair.

Thanks Sandie!

Mia is top of my list as a suspect. She is so unstable and psychotic.

So with the birth of Ben we are what? A year and a half into the affair? So half way thru the past at minimum?

Thank you Sandie--There was a lot to reflect on in the episode and you provided a great second look.

I'm actually glad Santi and Raq are providing a unified front (and it wasn't the end of the beginning just yet). In so many tns the good things happen to bad people (or they scheme all the way to the end) and the bad things happen to good people until some couple goes up the aisle. GG is giving us a run for our time. So far the good and the bad are sort of balancing each other out.

It's not just Mia and Mimi--but add Andres and Rueda to the mix and it's a set up for more heartache. I think Nico has just lost his job and Lola wants to go to university. This doesn't make a very stable income.

I was glad that Alina told Santi she's not an expert in family law, but someone in her practice is. Maybe he will get some solid legal help, but will Alina go after Santi? So far she's only preyed on young boys. The two people who are key to the legal angles are Rueda and Alina and I don't want to see either of them "win."

Carvivlie--at some point the two timelines will converge. That will be very interesting.

The problem with fingering Mia is that we're not sure she knows 1) how to drive; 2) get to the site where the accident takes place and guarantee that Caro dies and her father lives; 3) she had to get her hands on a gun--and then dispose of it successfully. I would pin the deed on an adult--but which one and have we even met that person.

Mia got hysterical when she heard about her father surviving--barely--and in a coma. Was it because he wasn't supposed to get hurt? Santi went berserk when he heard 1) his wife was missing and 2) she was with Damian. He attacked Dam in the hospital and they had to drag him away. Was it because Caro was not supposed to get hurt and Dam was supposed to die?

It seems that with this episode, Santi and Raq are being "thrown" together even more than before. I'm going to start tracking any signals between the two, if there are any. I think it will be Santi getting interested in Raquel first. She listens to him and talks to him. Raq, though, is still in love with her husband and thinks he can do no wrong towards her or their children.

What I want to know more than anything is what on earth do Laura and Nando have to do with the case. Is it just investigation or did they have a hand in the outcome? Are we going to be surprised by who he cheated on or will it be some unnamed person who isn't really important to the story.

Great retelling, Sandie, thanks again.

Sandie, what an incredible title! Excellent recap - very well written.

I had so looked forward to this and as soon as it came on, I fell asleep!

"Rueda and Andres try to convince Miriam that she can fight for custody of Benjamin, and at the same time she would hurt Santi". The callousness and cruelty here is astonishing.

I liked your line about the chickens coming home to roost Urban :)

But before the vitriol against Santi materialized, there was Caro and Lola. Andres and Vincente loathed Caro in life and in death. Lola was also Andres' target.

Alina, Andres, Miriam. What an impressive lineup of predators.

I've run the many scenarios as to who murdered Caro and hurt Damian over and over in my head. I have no answers. I think so much hinges on your thoughtful musings Anita. Were both Caro and Damian the intended targets or was it only one and if so, which one?

No spoiler but I believe someone very strong had to be involved to drag Carolina (as we saw in the flashbacks). Were they acting alone or was there an unholy alliance?

Raq and Santi were clearly friends from the start. I think he enjoyed her honesty and vivaciousness. I believe in romance and second chances but think these two simply have too much against them. They can't and should never lead their lives according to what their children want, but their past is too much for them to bury.

I still don't think Raquel realizes just how troubled Mia is.

I'm really surprised Alina has been able to prey on younger men without any repercussions. Perhaps that will not be the case now.

I think there is a strong connection between Godoy and Cin which I felt right away. I feel this will doom both.

Thank you Sandie!

Diana

Happy New Year's Eve to our shrinking little group of commenters, but all with such powerful voices.

We know there are many lurkers out there. How can you resist weighing in on this absolutely gripping telenovela. Where will GG take us next!

Thank you Sandie for Friday's recap. I don't comment much but I appreciate this blog and the wonderful recappers, Urban, Jardinera, Anita, Juju, and anyone that I missed or has filled in. Many nights I only see about the first 20 minutes so the only way I know what is going on is through your wonderful recaps.

I like this novela very much, just not the 10:00 pm time slot. I love how the story is told in flashbacks that will bring us to the present at some point.

Here is my current thinking on just who is the culprit(s). Please feel free to poke as many holes in it as it deserves:

Dam finally decided, with the help of his demented mother, that Caro was becoming too dangerous. Miri followed them in the company car as she would have had access. Dam shot Caro and they buried her. They split up and Dam really was going to Miami to establish his alibi. Miri firebombed the car to remove any evidence. Dam's accident was just that, an unplanned accident.

So, what do you all think? I want to blame Andres but he seems too obvious....

It has been a while since I joined the conversations on Carey...I have missed the interaction, but haven't been able to watch telenovelas for a while. I don't know if this is a good place to ask a question and make a comment on the upcoming 2018 Premios TVynovela awards, but I don't know where else to go...

First, a question: There is a new mechanic since last year that allows fans to vote for their choice of winners in each category. Is this the final vote, or is this just an indication of popularity to those who nominate?

Comment: In 2017, Un Camino Hacia El Destino was note nominated for any major award and so I can't believe it was not a fan favorite. So fan votes must not have influenced the
nominations. Am I correct?

I can see where fan votes may have decided the winners because both Angelique Boyer and Sebastian Rulli have a multitude of followers/fans. In my opinion Angelique definitely deserved to win (as did Silvia Navarro-but it was a bad year for her. How do you beat a person playing three characters) Sebastian, although I love him, was pulled along with Angie and his vast amount of fans.

Comment: This year however, 2018, Sebastian Rulli will most likely be nominated, and I think he is most deserving. My problem is with Maite Perroni.

Once again, Silvia Navarro has given an outstanding performance, however, in looking at the present votes for Mejor Prognatica (I think I spelled that correctly) She had a big lead in votes until yesterday when Maite Perroni took off and ran away with votes.

My problem with Maite is this...Her role in "Papa a Todo Madre" is that of a sweet girl who has some unfortunate things Happen to her (sound familiar?) She cries a lot (sound familiar) and everyone feels sorry for her. The character she plays was not that difficult a role in comparison to those of actresses others being nominated. Any one of the actresses who were considered for that part could have given a performance equally as good, BUT, they were not Sebastian's "Grande Amigo." They both say she wanted the part to boost her acting career, well it sure has!

Question: Since Maite Perroni has over 11 million followers/fans, is this going to turn out to be a popularity contest for lead actress? It would be very unfair to Silvia! I hope this won't happen. In my opinion, Silvia's role as Raquel is a difficult, intense role that deserves the award.

I know there are those who will disagree with my comments regarding Maite Perroni. She is a beautiful, talented woman, but she does not deserve to win the award for a role that most any actress could play.this is how I feel. I am looking forward your comments.

LoriLoo, I appreciate your thoughts on the accident/murder.

I believe anything is possible at this point and it is entirely possible that your scenario is what happened.

We still have a lot more to see and understand exactly what transpired in the past. As of right now, I still firmly believe that Damian is besotted with and in love with Caro. It is he who keeps pressuring her and he who is omnipresent. Granted, something might occur for him to resent her, but he is obviously not invested in his marriage and his children. Raquel has already learned this hard lesson.

I did not want to blame Andres because I agree he seems too obvious. But I am starting to think it really might have been him. Mia is too unhinged to do this herself and no one in their right frame of mind would have had her be an accomplice. I definitely do not think Lola was involved and feel less secure that Nico was either. The dark horse is Fede.

Raquel and or Santi could be involved depending on what they knew about their spouses at the time of the murder and (as Anita has mentioned) when exactly their feelings for each other left the friend zone.

Novela Maven, I hope you are doing well. I miss reading your comments!

I will echo Anita in hoping that if you are watching and haven't commented, please do so! You can use a nickname if you wish to remain anonymous. I can promise that the first comment is the hardest. We will welcome you with open arms. The recappers have done an amazing job, please let them know you appreciate all their hard work and dedication.

May all of you have a joyous, happy New Year!

Diana

Great to hear from you again LoriLoo. I wish you could catch the last 40 min somewhere else. The hints are dropped from the sky always near the end. It is fun to speculate and try to figure out the motives and rationale behind each suspect. Yours is completely plausible.

Ginger--I can't help you with any of your questions. First of all, we normally don't include topics outside of the current story (although there are always exceptions) in our comments section. Your questions would be best answered by Stevey. Unfortunately it is impossible to ask him directly. Have you read any of his essays? We keep them under the link "News About Upcoming Telenovelas (Proximas)" on the sidebar.

I personally do not follow TV Premios and am not a fan of them anyway--based on the way they have treated Silvia Navarro over the years. The record of her work is extraordinary and almost every leading man in telenovela land has been paired with her and she makes it all believable. I do generally keep a log of the winners over the years, but they are readily available on the internet. It is interesting, though, to see a tn win over one Carayers think was a superior production (story, casting, producer). Obviously excellence is in the eye of the voters.

I think you have heard correctly that the voting has been taken out of the hands of "judges" and left up to viewers. Some telenovelas are "easy" to do, others really make the actors reach deep inside to interpret the character. All take a great deal of memorizing and rehearsing, so I'm not taking away from the job the actor has. It may not be that easy to distinguish easy roles from difficult ones in the final product. So favorites (of the judges or the viewers) get the edge. Sadly, there's no way to really make it fair, so we go with what we've got.

Thank you both, Diana and Anita, for not totally dismissing my speculations. Although sometimes, even I think I'm out in left field.

I can see why you and Anita think it may be Santi and Raq. They would certainly be the LEAST obvious! And also, what is the Fede back story? He seems to be the least developed character so far. I don't suspect the kids, and even though Mia is BSC, I don't think she was involved.

It is hard to find anyone to like in this story, other than Benji. I like Raq but that is probably because Silvia is such an accomplished actress. She is simply the best!

Feliz Ano Nuevo to all.

We're in for more surprises, I'm sure. But I have to say I'm not crazy about the idea that Raquel or Santiago had anything to do with this.

Yes, happy New Year all!

LoriLoo, I can't recall a show where just about everyone is unlikeable! :o

Urban, I hope it isn't Santi or Raq either. My worry is that if Raq did become aware of everything prior to the murder (and I am really starting to think that is what happened), she is clever enough to have pulled something off. The way Santi kept asking if Caro was dead still bothers me. And while I don't think the mysterious payoff involved the murder, I think Santi has many shades of gray.

I'm also still stuck on the fact Miriam tried to murder her son. I realize she saw it (or WANTED us to see it) as mercy killing, but let's face it - there is nothing merciful about the woman at all. So the attempted murder and apparently any mention of it has been dropped? Was everyone who was there that day bribed? If not, there is no way in hell she could/should ever get custody of Benji. My heart goes out to Santi and to Lola, his mother/sister.

Diana

Thank you to all of the recappers for your excellent and timely work. I do watch most of the shows and enjoy the interaction on the patio. I don't comment as I read the summary of amar, despues de amar on which Caer en tempacion is based. Amar only had 70 episodes but someone mentioned this one has 100 so we are still only half way through. Does it seem as if Damien and Caro have been carrying on for over a year by this stage of the story?

Happy New Year to everyone.

Thanks, Sandie. Terrific recap.

Rueda and Andres try to convince Miriam that she can fight for custody of Benjamin,

How can Miriam succeed with this? Any family court would consider that she's too old to raise a two-year-old on her own and he'd be handed off to paid nannies. What scares me is that she gets Mia to agree to co-parent with her so the court can see Benji's young, energetic sister will be involved in his care. Lola could counter that she's been his mother-sister all along and deserves him, and Nico and Fede would support her, but then there's that prostitution crap Andres would exploit.

sorry Sammy is at the door

Never seen the Sammy actor before, but he's doing a good job in the role. After all Nico has seen and heard from Sammy, he would be a pure fool to continue sexing with Alina.

LoriLoo, nice to see you here. I've thought about Damian too as the murderer, but I'm convinced he loved Carolina and wanted to stay with her forever. But I can see someone setting him up to make him look guilty.

Happy New Year, everybody!

Anita, Thank you so much for responding to my post. Your nsights helped me try to understand what is going on with Premios. Again, thank you.

I think laura did it because Fernando had an affair with caro and perhaps the baby is Andreas or Fernando

Diana--in response to your question: "So the attempted murder and apparently any mention of it has been dropped? Was everyone who was there that day bribed?" Rueda arranged to bribe the doctor who had to prepare the medical report to say that Mimi temporarily lost her reason. She was hospitalized--again temporarily. That was all that was needed.

Mimi had to swallow her pride and declare herself out of her mind and submit to psychological treatment. Later she was released from the hospital and she's back to her imperious old self.

Thanks, Sandie! I fell asleep the last few minutes and appreciate the details for sure!
De tal palo tal astilla - yeah, pretty much did it for me. We need a power saw about now to cut the both of them down to size..... I keep waiting for Raq to join the real world and stop being such a pathetic marshmallow around the Malevolent M&M's. Time for a sea change that we can see..... Speaking of change, when is Dam going to finally rejoin the world? I cannot believe the tn gods will allow him to lay in bed through the end and beyond of this novela.

As for Sammi--who looks anything but like the birth son of Rueda (poor casting) I see him a large splash in his future--something akin to Humpty Dumpty's irreversible crack up.

"I see a large splash--" Sorry. And, BTW, HAPPY NEW YEAR/FELIZ AN~O NUEVO A TODOS--

Anyway, O/T for Ginger: I believe whenever the Premio's are finally presented there might be a discussion page. To answer your discussion, tho': Maite has never been one of my favorite actresses. Both Angelique Boyer and Silvia Navarro have amazed me with their top notch talen, however. I miss AB and hope somehow Uni puts her back where she belongs - with us as one of the few glittering gems this megastudio still has.

Loriloo - I agree in part that Mimi if not Andres just might have been involved. Can't begin to imagine how it got this far, but Mimi may not have expected the accident. Although, we do know that the black car is one that belonged to the company and Andres could have entered into some kind of crazy kill pact or revenge pact. Now, I do find the mysterious "other woman" in Fernando Godoy's life to be interesting as a possible link, per Anon. Mon. 12:38PM.

Happy New Year patio.Thank you Sandie for a very good recap.About this whats about To turn out to be a very bad bad situation For the Alvarados and the Bs
If the granny from middlearth/hell has her way.And tell me this why does she hate Santi? He didn't cheat, his lo-down dirty wife did that, with her sorryarse son.
Ok she wants to hurt Raquel. Do you
Think she'd want to hurt Damian,O she
Already did that. She tried to put his
Lights permanently out. They just can't take benji From him, that's just cruel. And they Talk like santi is the soul reason that all This happened. His no good wife & Her sorryarse son.

That alina She's like those sirenes, I
Think I spelled that right or not. They anyways drive men crazy witn their singing, in the The Odyssey I think it
Was, and then they'd crash their ships
On the rock cuz the siren would drive them nuts with their singing.
Well the the old cougar uses sex. The
Little boys never knew what hit'em.
And whatever Sammy has planned I hope
He exposes her for the Maniac that she is. The woman needs therapy. There is
Some underlying problems there from her past, maybe we'll hear about her as it Ticks by. Time that is.

Mia-Mimi-me. Yeah,she's just like that
