Caer en Tentación #44, 12/21/17, Jueves: Sex, Lies, and Surveillance
Labels: caer
Raquel wouldn't feel like a delinquent teen if she wasn't acting like a delinquent teen. Stop kow-towing to Mia. If Mia doesn't like it, Mia can go live with Miriam. She's old enough to make her own decisions and so is Raquel.
Lola has this fantasy of the perfect home life and that simply was not the case. IMO she is opposed to the Santiago/Raquel union not because she doesn't like Raquel, but because Santiago moving on destroys the fantasy of that perfect home life. If Santiago remains alone for the rest of his life, then Lola and Nico can fantasize that Santiago & Carolina's love was so pure, so grand, that he will be in love with her for the rest of his life and never betray that love with a new woman.
When the reality is, Carolina lied to them for 3 years, betrayed them for 3 years and was really only thinking of herself. And Santiago was no perfect angel either because he barked at Carolina for wanting to have a life outside of him & the kids. And Lola knows this because Santiago didn't want Lola working either (and could be why he's sticking Lola with the care of Benjamin).
I think Lola & Nico will eventually come around to a Raquel/Santiago pairing. I think Fede will eventually come around as well, as he gains a life for himself. Mia never will and Raquel needs to set some firm boundaries with her.
I personally can see Mia trying to come on to Santiago and set it up so that Raquel sees them together, to bust them up.
Your conversation translations are wonderful and provide so much missed information.
I am not Raquel's biggest fan yet "It doesn't matter to me what you do, what you know, it doesn't matter what makes you happy. I'm your mother. I love you with all my heart. You are the most beautiful thing in my life. I want you to be happy. When you love you will love whomever you love. It doesn't matter what other people say" tugged at my heartstrings.
Anon 207, I completely agree with you that Raquel is a grown woman and certainly does not need to answer to Mia.
So many damaged souls...
The "children" are not letting the ghosts of Caro and Damian go. I still cannot see how Raquel and Santiago can move on from such ravaged, raw beginnings. They need to heal their relationships with their children and this ill advised romance is not the right course. I'm sure I'm in the minority here but...
If Alina can get Bebo freed, she is a miracle worker. Granted a predatory one but miracle it will be nevertheless.
Lola's "A little while ago my reality was you and my mother. Of course there were problems. But it was the most beautiful chapter in my life when I was little" rang true to me and while Lola may be seeing the past through rose colored glasses, I do believe they were a happy family once upon a time.
Santiago's query of Nacho. Is the best defense a good offense? Everyone is still a suspect to me.
Cin is eyeing Laura's husband and I feel as though I should be applauding her put down of Cin. But I'm not. Laura is too driven and too ruthless.
Urban, thank you so much!
Diana
Diana--I saw your comment last night about not being aware Santi had thought (maybe not so much thought as lack thereof) of leaving Caro. It was during one of their stormy arguments where he was pleading to know what was wrong with her and he asked if he should leave the house. That phrase is used liberally in many tns to mean a separation, but that's what he meant. He asked Caro a couple of times if that is what she wanted. She was silently considering it. I THINK she already knew she was pregnant; either that or she saw herself as a single mother with two teenagers and a part ownership in a catering business, so she said no.
Anon207--I must repeat myself--you are always spot-on with your analyses. ITA, with the tiny exception of thinking Mia could pull off setting Santi up. He now only has eyes for Raquel.
We know she can't stand Santi. The idea that he could talk to her or try to give her advice would be the few occasions he could possibly be alone with her. (OK, I concede, she might feign wanting to talk to him to set him up.)
Santi, his family and friends, represent a social world she knew little about until the parents initial contact and friendship. She never became friends with either Lola or Nico, whereas Nico and Fede have been friends since before the little accident Raq had with Santi's truck. Mia has accused Lola of being jealous of all the things she has. She keeps Nico at arms length or pushes him away when he gets close (but then she's had no success with any other boyfriends). Well, from my perspective, Mia is one mixed up pup and Raq has seen that in three years, Mia's off and on therapy has not helped. What's a mother to do?
And now Fede is confused about his sexuality. At least Raquel said all the right things to him in this politically charged arena.
My comment centers around the conversation between Raquel and Federico, Re: his sexual preference. The boy is at most 16. He's confused. But for anyone to try to categorize his sexuality at this point is not really fair. The fairly accepted range now in 2017 seems to be that a person, et alone a teenager, may at any point fall into one of four categories: heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual and asexual.
And there is a continuum of behavior in each category which allows for a fluid, or not so fluid, transition from one to the other. Most folks are at the far end of the heterosexual/homosexual continuum. As a teen, if you are not at either end of the spectrum --and if you are you know it -- then you are in the confused middle. Only a lifetime of sexual behaviors will finally clear up where you fall. And if Fede is emerging as an asexual individual Raquel's advice is only partially right. Why partially? Well if Fede is 'truly asexual' (?), he will probably never find the right person, male or female, to have a long term sexual relationship with. But give the kid a chance. Mia's bratty demand tell me "yes or no - are you gay" is common mistake we all make wanting a 'yes' or 'no' answer to human sexuality.
The scene with Raq and Fede was very sweet. She understood him completely and didn't judge. That's what every parent should do when in that situation. He was noticeably struggling when attempting to be intimate with Sabrina.
I agree that by the end of this 3 of the 4 kids will be able to accept Santi and Raq's relationship. At this point I can only guess what Mia's fate will be but by the looks of things she could very well pull a Nora Gaxiola before this is over.
It was nice to see Jovita supporting Raq. She knew what Raq was trying to say even when Raq was afraid and nervous to admit her feelings. There is a true love between Raq and Santi but they're gonna have to fight against all odds to be happy. Jovita seems like a mother figure to Raq. She reminds me of Tere in ECDLP. She might be the hired help but is treated like family.
I don't blame Lola for the way she's feeling about her dad's relationship with Raquel. Like she said, she is upset that her mother cheated on her father but she didn't expect her mother to die. That's part of her grieving process.
Laura's behavior and actions are frustrating. I almost laughed when she fell.
While I didn't favor it a dozen episodes ago I now think that Mia belongs in an inpatient mental facility. She is becoming dangerous to others as well as herself. Raquel doesn't see this yet. She's feeling the pinch of Mia's paranoia but not the throb after the sting. Jovita is in a position to see and understand this; she's worked for this family for a long time. Raquel will probably listen to her but she needs to tread carefully, too.
For Mia to live with Miriam would not be an acceptable long-term solution. Miriam would only use Mia as a weapon. Having said that, this may be where the writers will go with this.
Laura needs to face reality, too. I don't think she ever loved Fernando. He's attractive, fit, probably a decent lover, and mostly smart but she used information stolen from him to advance her career. He's faced that and is fed up. She has not respected the confidentiality issues within the police department that protect investigations, she is not an ethical journalist, and if anything happens to skanky Cinthia she is responsible for it.
And we can be sure something will happen to Cinthia.
As for the stolen watches and cuff links, we know that Cinthia stole them after Damian ended up in the hospital and gave them to Rafael in exchange for a fraction of their worth. He knew he couldn't fence them because of the serial numbers and the engravings and held onto them for a more likely use: To get money from Rueda to frame someone for the murder of Carolina and the attempt on Damian's life.
Now, with regard to that situation, when was Nacho last in the Becker house? The kitchen remodeling was three years ago. Had there been any reason for him to enter the Becker house since then? Since Damian had several expensive watches, didn't he wear each of them often enough for Raquel to remember the last time she saw either of the two handed back to her?
I don't think we need to speculate on what payment Alina will extort from Bebo if she frees him and his father.
As for whether Mia would try to seduce Santiago to steal him from Raquel, I don't think I'd put it past her now. Of course she would fail because he will see that she is a damaged little girl but there is at least a slight chance that she could fake something pretty incriminating
Unless & until Mia gets some help, her going the Nora Gaxiola way will be a relief to the people who know her. Raquel & Fede will mourn her but that's about it.
For the record, I don't think Santiago remotely thinks of Mia as a sexual being. He probably thinks of her as a child. However, she did give Santiago a seductive look around the beginning of the novela and Nacho told him to watch out for her.
Alina may well extort sex from Bebo but she's not going to be able to play with Bebo like she played with Sammy and Nico because Sammy and Nico are two young, dumb, naive, inexperienced little boys with raging hormones. Part of Alina's thrill is to be able to play with and control little boys like Sammy and Nico but I don't think she will have that affect on Bebo. Bebo was dumb for trying to sell Damian's watches but I don't think he would fall under Alina's spell.
Did Raquel report the watches and cufflinks as stolen? To my knowledge she just thought they were misplaced around the house. How can you bust somebody for selling stolen goods if the goods were never reported as stolen? If Raquel never reported the watches as stolen and declines to press charges against Bebo, they couldn't hold him, could they?
Urban--I know I didn't fall asleep, but there was a scene that was not in the broadcast I watched: Mia waking Fede up and then Jovita. Do you think they are starting to use the scissors on CET? I know Ramon ran over, but it has before. I also wonder if Santi's and Raq's love scene was edited. SN has in the past done much more revealing scenes.
Actually the person who could bust this wide open would be LAURA. If Laura found out Raquel never reported the items as stolen, she would question how the police knew the items Bebo was trying to sell was stolen. Then she would question if there was some shenanigans going on with the Carolina/Damian case...the police are trying to railroad an innocent man so they can wrap up the case.
A special note about Laura: I think she does love Fernando but she can't trust him. She can't trust him because he's not an honest person. She's hurt & lashing out at him because she does love him and wants him to feel her pain. So right now she's going to use him for what she can get out of him, since she can't get love out of him. If she was just using him all along for tips, she would've kicked him to the curb and gotten herself a new source.
It's Laura whose honesty I really question. She goes on the air with suppositions, speculations, and giving away information the police want to keep to themselves in the interests of the investigation. Journalism has taken quite a nosedive in credibility in recent years and she is demonstrating that in spades in this series. Her boss has no respect for any system of justice.... or even public safety. All he cares about is "If it bleeds, it leads."
Anita, the love scene may have been very slightly trimmed, but it wasn't as long or as intense as SN's scene in LC with the gorgeous Victor Gonzales. If the scene with Mia waking up Fede was removed, it may have been to accommodate Ramon, since a 10PM series has to have a hard stop at 11PM for the news.
Sebastian Rulli in a comedy (I just looked it up)? I have difficulty picturing that.
The two previous GG novelas were not hacked up by Univision, so I'm not concerned about that possibility yet.
Anon207, some of Mia's more recent clothes still look childish. Her whole attitude is childish... as in Rhoda Penmark from The Bad Seed.
The problem is that she doesn't seem to think there is anything wrong with herself. She has never talked much to either parent about her issues and she is now refusing to see the shrink. All this will add up to a tragedy, I'm sure.
So sweet of Lola to lie to Mia about her dad's whereabouts.
Yay, Fernando walked out on Laura. Laura is no journalist - she has no standards of justice or of protecting informants if it's not in her own personal self-interest. Looks like her mouth will get Cinthia killed.
No point in Raq hiding that Santi is her novio. Mia will hound her no matter what she does and the police can easily find out she (Raq) and Santi meet up for alone time.
Who should have had both a Last Will and a Living Will.
Obsessed about her mother and santi.
Why is it so easy to pin this on her
Mom. She is crazy with this nonsense.
It's her mom's fault thay her father cheated? How sick is that? The girl is
On the verge of doin some insane act of revenge. She is scary.Freakin nutjob
Thatz what she is.
I agree with jovita, raquel do deserve
Happiness, but nobody is happy in this show.No matter how many orgasms they have they're still Miserable. And I do
Not believe Damian and Caro were all
That happy either. They were to busy slipping and dillin hiding.Where's the
Fun in that. These people's lives suck.
They need some joy. And some sanity.
And Damian is sleeping through all the
Fun, that he caused these lovely messy people to have.
I like how honest lola was with her dad. But she's not nuts with it like
Crazyass mia. She was honest with her dad. Not nasty honest like Mia is,who
Has an evil almost hatred for her mom.
Who isn't responsible for damian's bad very bad decision t lust after another
Man's wifey.
Urban as far as last will and living will, Damian probably thought he'd live forever. No worries, he could have his cake and eat it too.He didn't
Need no stinking living will and last will, he was all dat. Now he's Havin
Bed sores and Shrinkage.
THANK you Urban & Marry Christmas yall
