Caer en Tentacion #65, 1/19/2018; Florencia is the 5th wheel and will make sand castles fall (or that Plot Gun is driving me crazy)
Present time:
Antonio tells Alina that if there is no physical evidence tying Santi
to the crime, he still is a suspect for being the master mind. Alina asks “what
makes you say that?” Antonio replies “the fact that the gun is his and the
Beckers have evidence that he owed a significant amount of money to Damian.”
Alina looks taken aback.Raquel goes to see Santi. She looks weak, exhausted and tells him to resist because she needs him with her. She says she knows he did not do it. “Do you know who killed Carolina?” says Santi. She replies “I don’t know who killed her, but I do know how much you loved her, so you would not kill her.” “I thought you knew” Raquel says “no I have some ideas maybe, Miriam, Andres and possibly Vicente he is so unstable, but on the other hand Damian’s family always thought you guys were with us because you were interested in our money.” She then says “if I knew something I would tell you” Raquel continues and says “it’s important to know who took out the gun from the drawer” she speculates that maybe Carol, Santi says “what you think she took the gun out to commit suicide or to kill Damian?” {Ok patio, I need to stop here a minute…now when Raquel found the gun in the drawer she actually handled the gun right? So what is this supposition that Carol took the gun…My head is spinning…someone please tell me that Raquel did see the gun after Carol was already dead!!}
In the past:
As Lola gets home Florencia wants to talk to her because Santi had called and she did not know what to say. “Say about what?” says Lola. “Well Nico is locked in his room with a girl, and I don’t know if your parents let him do that” Lola then asks who is he with, Florencia says she is not sure who it is but thinks her name is Mia. So Lola says don’t say anything I’ll take care of it. Lola goes to Nico’s room and as she approaches the door Mia opens up and acts like the victim again “why are you spying on me I know you are spying on me because you hate me” (urghhh!)
At the banquet hall Carol is giving instructions to her two assistants and is happy that this month they are going to be very busy, Andres approaches her from behind and she asks him “why is he there?” He says that he is there because he is working, he tells her assistants to leave and then hands her some purchase orders to sign. Carol refuses because that is Raquel’s responsibility. Andres says Raquel is not in any condition to work so if Carol wants to handle everything, she better sign or the orders for her supplies will be delayed. Carol grabs the file takes a look at it and sees that the amounts are exaggerated; she says she will not sign for those amounts. Andres is not happy with her response so he starts berating her about her affair with Damian. “You won’t sign those papers, but you can cheat on your husband, what do you feel when you see Raquel? When you see you children’s eyes? when you go to bed with your husband?, you are a slut Carol, if you sign you will get a lot of money and maybe you can stop taking money away from my cousin” Carol steps away from him and then Andres yells “SIGN IT” Carol is saved by the bell when her phone rings. It is Raquel who tells her that Benjamin is doing fine and that Damian fell asleep with him, she is also telling her that they thought about it and they want to take Benja back to her so she doesn’t have to make the trip to pick him up. All this time Andres is just standing there listening to Carol’s side of the conversation. When carol agrees with Raquel that it’s ok for them to take Benja to her she hangs up and then Andres says “do you want me to take the docs to Raquel for her signature, and while I’m at it I’ll tell her you are sleeping with her husband” Carol just looks at Andres in disgust. Not sure if she signs papers.
At the Alvarado household Santi is having some “flautas” (fried tacos) that Florencia prepared for him with her angel hands. He tells her she did not have to do that because she is only there to watch Benja. But Florencia says since Benja was not there she thought it was a good Idea to cook for him because he was going to be hungry. The Becker’s ring the door bell and bring Benjamin back home, Santi introduces them to Florencia who according to him is an angel because she takes care of Benja but also helps carol with the house work and cooks divinely. (Raquel sees Florencia and gives her a funny look). Florencia takes Benja to give him a bath. Carol then shows up and Raquel says that she wants the company to get a car for her because it will be best for the company to invest in a company car then to be paying for all of the costs of her taxi rides. Carolina does not agree that it’s a good idea so they leave the topic up for discussion at a later time. Santi tells the Beckers to stay for dinner because Florencia made some delicious “flautas”. Damian and Santi head to the dining room while Carol and Raquel stay behind. Raquel says “what a pretty girl where did you find her?” “She is Agustin’s cousin, why?” “well because I have always thought that when someone makes a husband smile as much as she makes Santi smile, it is not a good idea to have her in your home” Raquel walks to the dining room after having dropped that huge hint and Carol stays behind stewing. {Patio I have to interject here as well, to me it seemed that the one that was jealous of Florencia was Raquel, the minute she saw Florencia Raquel smelled trouble and took out her claws}
In the present:
Miriam tells Andres that she knows that he defends Raquel, “is it because she slept with you already?” Andres says “Auntie how could you think that?” she says it’s because he is always chasing after her and is always protecting her. Rueda then walks in and says he has news from the judge, Miriam assumes it’s the criminal case against Santi but Rueda says it’s the family court judge. “Oh so is he giving me Benja or is he leaving him with the murderer?”
Santi says “why do you suppose carol would have taken the gun?” to kill Damian? No she probably took it to defend herself.” Raquel than starts feeling faint and tells Santi to please think hard about who could have taken the gun because she needs him out of jail, she loves him and needs him. Santi replies that he loves her too and will not leave her.
Nico and Mia are arguing about who killed Carol, Mia is sure that Santi did it because it’s his gun and he is now in Jail. Nico says that it could have been Damian he was also in the accident. “Why don’t you think about that, my father is just a victim” Nico pushes Mia and Mia is stunned at Nico’s reaction. Lola comes out to tell them to be quiet because Benja is asleep. {This part of the scene is out of order for continuity of conversations} What is happening o you guys, Nico says ask her and then walks away. Bebo leaves to go see his dad and let Lola and Mia talk. Mia sits down and tells Lola that she loves Nico very much and does not understand why she treats him the way she does. She than hits the nail in the head and says “I’m like my grandmother” (BINGO){ we have a winner here} Lola very wisely tells her that she needs to get away from good old granny because all she does is to spew venom against the Alvarado’s because she hates them. Mia asks Lola “do you trust your dad?” of course I trust him he is the most incredible man I know and he loved my mom. Mia asks if she thinks Nico will forgive her, Lola says all he needs is your support and for you to be there for him.
As Raquel is walking out of the jail, Alina approaches her and tells her that Santi’s situation just got worse because there appears to be a large loan that Damian made to Santi; she asks Raquel if she knows anything about that. Raquel begins to feel overwhelmed and asks Cynthia to take her out. Cynthia yells at Alina to leave Raquel alone because she does not feel well.
At Legato’s Fede is on his break with 3 of his coworkers then a supervisor shows up and tells them that there will be no more breaks. They tell him that Raquel had said they can have up to two breaks. “well that woman is no longer in charge, and now there are no breaks” at that moment Miriam shows up to reiterate that there are no more breaks but then addresses Fede and tells him she wants him in the office and out of the factory floor because he is also part owner. His coworkers hear this and are stunned to learn this, they walk away to go back to work looking at Fede in disbelief. In the meantime Miriam tells Fede he should work out of an office. But Fede instead tells her he quits. Miriam is shocked.
Outside of the police station Cynthia is taking Raquel away. Godoy sees them and tells her that if she needs anything she can call him. As Godoy walks back into the station Laura approaches him and says she now understands, she sees that he is still with that “slut”, Godoy tells her that she is mistaken but he does not care anymore because he now knows he feels nothing for her, Laura is shocked to hear this but she should not be.
Andres comes into Miriam’s office tells her she was mistaken in taking the employee breaks away and in exposing Fede’s secret, because now he quit. Miriam could care less and just walks away.
Fede’s coworker goes to see him at his house. Luz tells Fede that he is a Becker and he is just like his grandmother and Andres. She calls him a liar and says that to her he is trash and she does not believe anything he says. Fede tries to explain why he lied about being a Becker but Luz does not care enough to hear it.
Mia goes to Nico’s room and apologizes for the way she is, she explains that she feels bad because of everything that is going on with her dad. Nico tells her he loves her, she then kisses her and they are about to make love when Lola goes in to tell him Alina is there to let them know that Santi is still in Jail. Nico goes with Lola to see Alina. Mia stays in Nico’s room.
Alina explains to Lola and to Nico that the money that Damian loaned to Santi appears to be a motive. Lola says that it was not a loan they were partners. Alina asks her if she has any documents to prove it, and Lola says no because it was just a verbal agreement. Alina continues saying that the judge will not believe that, and that the Beckers want to see him in jail, as she continues talking to Lola and Nico Mia walks out of Nico’s room wearing one of Nico’s shirts and nothing else and says “what are you saying about my family?”
Antonio tells Santi that he must remain impartial in this case even if he is his father’s best friend. He is thinking of recusing himself from the case.
Laura follows Godoy into the station where she hears that Antonio is with Santi and then she says “I did not know that Santi was getting special treatment.” Godoy tells Laura to tone it down that she has turned into trash with her method of reporting. Laura tells him “this better be the las time you insult me or I will have to tell the audience of my show what a piece of trash you are.”
At the Alvarado’s Mia has a little tantrum and leaves. Alina tells them they have to stop dealing with the Beckers. {Or Nico, stop seeing Mia}
In the past
At the Alvarado’s Santi insists that Florencia stay for dinner. She reluctantly stays. Santi talks about the partnership, Santi says we need to formalize our partnership; Damian does not want to do it legally because they will save on taxes.
Godoy
calls Laura to ask her if he can go back home, he feels bad because of the baby
but Laura does not want him to come back. She says “I am depressed I don’t feel
well, you did not support me when I needed you most. My cousin is here I don’t
need you.”
Mia
complains about Jovita having a day off and having to eat bad pizza. Icke, Fede’s
friend, shows up. Mia looks at him suspiciously.Godoy goes to the Cecilia’s hideout because she thinks she saw someone on the window. She wants Godoy to stay. “Celia I can’t” then she says “why are you afraid of me?” “No, I’m afraid of what I feel for you” “if you make love to me no one will know it” They kiss.
The Beckers and Alvarados discuss the baptism when all of a sudden the baby begins to cry. Raquel volunteers to go take care of him; she is the godmother after all. Florencia offers to take out the trash and Santi volunteers to help her leaving Dam and Carol alone. Dam has a jealous fit and tells Carol he does not like the way she is looking at Santi, demands for her to tell him she still loves him, grabs her by the arm and draws her closer to him, just then Florencia walks in and catches them too close for comfort.

The gun seems like we have a plot disparity. But I don't remember what happened to it after Raq got it. Did Santi take it back and put it away? If this is the gun that killed Caro then someone put it back in Santi's house, Raq found it, and then someone got worried and tried to get rid of it. The only person that would want to get rid of it is someone who wants to protect Santi's family. But is that the same person who killed Caro or just another person trying to "help" Santi?

Obviously Andres is concealing the extra supplies he's going to steal within the catering business, which would probably later look like it's losing money. He's blackmailing on so many fronts and concealing his own secrets so that sooner or later he's going to burst.
Are we confusing the plot guns? Raquel found one in Andres' office once upon a time.
Shouldn't the TV station's general manager be concerned about the lack of integrity in his news division?
Mia really stepped into it this time. She doesn't have what it takes to fight Alina.

Whether or not Andres is involved in the accident/murder, it’s obvious that he enjoyed harassing Damian and Carolina about the affair. Unfortunately his snide comments and name calling weren’t without motive. Instead of telling Raquel, he had more fun blackmailing.
So it looks like we can add Flor to the list of people who knew about the affair and obviously didn’t tell Santiago and Raquel. Santiago is 50% her boss. She should’ve told him.
Fede should’ve known that sooner or later his secret would come to light as much as he wanted to remain under the radar and work at Legato without special treatment. Luz was a bit harsh on him though.
I don’t think we’ve ever seen Mia and Lola have a civil conversation before now. I was surprised Mia listened to Lola and thanked her.

Carvivlie, Sandie and Urban--haven't read the recap yet, but I just wanted to tell you I'm hard at work trying to find the episode where Raquel found the gun in Santi's dresser drawer. I was mistaken about one thing--it was NOT the episode when they were going to make love and Lola came home with Benji sick. It had to be later.
I know for sure that Raquel found Damian's gun in Andres' office and had her melt-down in the hospital. Santi came to get her and when he took her out to his car, he saw the gun peeking out of her purse. That's GUN #1. GUN #2 is the one that Raquel found at Santi's house. GUN #2 OR #3 is the one that was found in the woods. Red Herring GUNS (or not) are the two Nico found in a bucket in Vic's shanty-shack, but Lola told him to put them back. The guy obviously likes guns, because he also had a rifle to scare off visitors.

Carvivlie--I do like your theory of the disappearing gun, though. If it is the murder weapon, I still say if it was someone trying to protect Santi and his family, why would it have been tossed out near the crime scene? The police have determined the gun from the woods IS the murder weapon. (I'm not convinced, but I don't have a degree in forensics....)
Sandie--Definitely unspin your head. Raquel found the gun AFTER Caro was dead. On the suspect list for removing it, besides Raquel or Santi, is Miriam (thanks to whomever reminded us that she'd been alone in that room with Benji) and now Florencia.
Thanks Anita for trying to find that back episode. The only explanation i can give for someone disposing the gun near the crime scene is that criminals are stupid and it is common for them to return to their handy work. I guess the big question is who else knew that Santi kept a gun in the bedroom? Caro definitely but did the kids? The nanny, if she was doing laundry and putting it away...or just a snoop.

Sandie--This was an excellent prelude to the weekend. Just what I needed to spur me on, another tasty recap of what has become my favorite telenovela--CET.
I wonder why Santi didn't still have Florencia working for him, instead of ceding all the care of Benji and the housework to Lola and still expects her to attend school. Something must have happened--maybe starting the night of the "flautas." lol

The fact that Santiago 'owed' money to Damian (without any IOU paper trail) is perhaps a motive for the killing but it's not really physical evidence; to call it 'evidence' on the basis of the claim by Miriam's shill is a stretch which Antonio and Godoy love to do. Antonio is a little more careful than Godoy who apparently leaned his investigative skills from Laura.
As for the guns, the writers have, I suspect intentionally, muddied the waters: (a) the gun found by Raquel in Andres office which she put in her purse which Santi took from her; (b) the gun Raquel found in Santi's house and apparently left there (??) and(c) the guns that the kids saw near Vince's digs. So far the forensic evidence is that the bullets match the gun found in the woods belonged to Santi's father and went missing from his house. No fingerprint match. So the case is at best circumstantial with a lot of supposition thrown in to cover the gaps. Santi needs a better criminal lawyer. Alina is not it.
Raquel is such a emotional mess right now she cannot be a lead defender of Santi's case. Nico should hire someone else. Nacho is too volatile and does not appear be up to the task. But Santi needs competent representation.

Thanks, Sandie. A very vivid recap. I haven't watched this episode yet. Now I can skip yet another Mia-Nico makeout session and go straight to Raquel's scenes.
I'm grateful to you all for keeping up with the gun(s). Antonio of all people should know Santi would never plan a murder using the gun his police dad left him. Too sentimental, plus way too distinguishable and traceable.

....and to continue, Niece, Santi told Antonio he was terrified of guns. OK, I'll accept that, but then why keep something that is sentimental AND deadly in a bureau drawer that almost anyone would find. Why not the top shelf of a closet, at the very least.

As for the reference to the kids in my 6:11am post, I had in mind the scene where Lola and Nico (with one of their parents ?Carolina?) visited Vincente's 'house'. I think the guns were in a bucket. I was not talking about the children who found the murder weapon in the bushes.

Anon@6:11--Ok. I have mentioned the two guns in the bucket as being in play. They have never been "resurrected" or tested.
Once upon a time in Episode #23, Sandie made this list. Now that we are at Episode #65, we might want to think about it again to see if more folks need to be added.

The crime scene is the perfect place to plant something like this although one would have to wonder who would be so careless as to leave a weapon near a crime scene unless the weapon had no fingerprints and was otherwise untraceable. This is something that should occur to Antonio and Fernando.

Florencia is in the present or is going to be, because Nico/Lola suggested calling her again to help with Benjamin.
Carolina definitely would've had access to the gun if it was in Benja's clothing drawer.

Patio thanks for stopping by with all those great comments, especially for clearing up some of the "plot gun" issues. So yes Raquel telling Santi that Carol may have taken the gun is actually a big mistake. Carol was already dead, Thank you Anita.

It's a stretch, yes but so is everything else we are being fed by the writers so far.

I don’t see Caro firing Flo after Flo walked in on her and Damián. Flo and her cuz Augustin both have seen the cheaters in compromising situations. I am finding it harder and harder to believe that Santi and Raq did not know about the affair.
