Papa a Toda Madre #9 1.25.18: Slashed Tires & Black Scorpions Do Not Make You a Better Person

Neron warns Mauricio that he will make it his personal mission to make sure his time at the cul-de-sac is miserable indeed. Neron then goes outside and looks at Mauricio’s car with malicious intent.

That night, Mauricio and Anifer have a dinner of apples and she suggests that they keep looking around the house to find furniture or buy them. Mauricio doesn’t want to, as he needs to save money to move soon, but Anifer argues that she won’t live with him for long as her mother will come back for her. Mauricio tries to tell her the truth but there is a knock on the door and Mauricio asks Anifer to be careful if it’s Neron. It’s Renee, who gives Mauricio back his microwave, which she fixed, though Mauricio is unsure.

She declares that she can do anything, and tells Anifer so, as Mauricio asks why she ignores him. Renee, like everyone else, doesn’t want to talk to him after what he did, especially because they have families to feed. Mauricio reminds her that he also has a family but Renee has had enough and leaves after saying goodbye to Anifer. Mauricio tries to have Anifer carry the microwave to the kitchen but he reconsiders and then does it himself before sitting down to eat his apple.

The next morning, Veronica chides Tono for waking up late but he declares that he will be ready in a jiff. She then asks him why he’s been so weird lately and he explains that he is just nervous because of the second interview. Veronica can’t believe he isn’t happier because of the interview but Tono tells her to be patient as she will find the right job for her. He then gives her various kisses and Veronica says goodbye as she is going to go out with some friends to network, just in case. He asks her not to be disappointed if she doesn’t get a job right away and asks her to leave him the keys. She nods and then leaves as Tono tries to get another 5 minutes.

Outside his house, Jorge is trying to get his kids in the car, as they are late because Samuel lives in the bathroom, when Renee comes and asks if it’s normal that the probate process takes so long. He tells her it might but offers to help her any way he can. She thanks him and he leaves but doesn’t notice that Samuel has been staring at her chest the whole time. Valentina and Jorge notice and demand he stop.

Sometime later, Tono wakes up with a start and realizes he overslept. He gets up from bed immediately and goes to get ready.

On the way to Logatoys, Anifer asks Mauricio about what he plans she do with her time. He suggests she go to school or decide if she wants to spend her time on other things. Their conversation is cut short when Mauricio notices a weird noise coming from the car and stops. He sees that the tires have been slashed, and the car won’t turn back on, as Tono runs out of his house to leave for his interview. He demands Mauricio move form the entrance to the cul-de-sac but he explains that he can’t as the car won’t turn on. Tono suggests he move it by hand but Mauricio prefers to blow the motor than do that.

At the shop, Neron moves some supplies around as Flor suggests he get an employee to help him out. He asks if she thinks he’s old but Flor decides to let it drop and asks if he got the money from Mauricio. Neron tells him that Mauricio is going to have a very bad time, if he has anything to say about it.

As Tono complains, and Mauricio tries to push the car out of the way, Anifer suggests they both push but the car doesn’t move because of the tire.

Tono declares that he will have to go by taxi, despite the fact that he has no money, and then tells Mauricio that he will be his worst nightmare from now on, like a black scorpion.

Moments later, Tono tries to catch a ride via bus but it stops for everyone else but him. He then tries to hail a taxi but an older woman with a cane pushes him out of the way and steals it. He then sees a woman getting out of another taxi and stops the driver so he can get in. However, the driver isn’t going where he wants to go and kicks him out. On the side of the street, Tono curses his luck and looks for another mode of transportation.

At Logatoys, Mauricio finds that Gladys has called in sick and wonders who will care for Anifer. Fabian suggests they distract with toys, as they are in a toy factory, and Mauricio agrees before asking for another meeting with Leopoldo to discuss the layoffs. Fabian is wary but Mauricio walks away and into his office to find Leopoldo sitting in his chair. Leopoldo bids them good morning but Mauricio is shocked.

At a job interview, Renee is having a bad time as her specialty is too limited and she hasn’t even graduated. She tells the interviewer that she will work in anything so he suggests she be a veterinarian’s assistant at a ranch or a truck driver but Renee doesn’t have experience in any of that. The interviewer then hands her a card for Logatoys and tells her that they are hiring again, under new management. Renee is shocked.

Leopoldo explains to Mauricio that some people had to be laid off so they could make some money. Mauricio tries to argue but Leopoldo reminds him that they talked about his responsibilities when they signed their contract. Mauricio remembers and Leopoldo explains that nothing is sure in business before stating that he needs an office. He leaves then and Mauricio wonders why Leopoldo is being so demanding.

Tono arrives at the company and tries to go to the interview but finds Veronica leaving the office. He barely has time to think when she approaches him and demands he tell her why he hid her second interview from her because she called the number back and they told her the truth. Tono is silent.

Fabian explains that, once everything is said and done, some employees will get their job back and others will have to deal. Mauricio worries that the cul-de-sac will kill him before that happens but Fabian thinks he’s exaggerating. Mauricio suggests they throw a party to get investors but he realizes that his reputation, as a poor businessman and professional party animal, is not the best. Anifer still thinks he has a great heart and Mauricio smiles before frowning. Just then, he gets the idea that they have to change their company image and become more family oriented. He suggests they start with the toy drive tomorrow.

Tono tries to explain that he wanted to spare Veronica the heartache of being rejected but she demands to know if he doesn’t have faith in her. He shakes his head and she reminds him that, either way, they need the job to survive.

Just then, the interviewer comes and welcomes Tono with open arms. Tono gives the man various compliments and he invites him to come to his office for the second interview. As they walk away, Veronica sighs deeply.

Mauricio thinks he has a great idea and asks Fabian for help. He agrees as Anifer comes and asks them what they are talking about. Mauricio thinks she won’t understand altruism but she explains that her mother told her what it was and how some people do it for the wrong reasons. She looks at Mauricio pointedly when she says this.

Renee passes by Neron’s shop and tells him that Logatoys is hiring again. Neron can’t believe he hasn’t received his rightful check, despite the fact that the situation seems better, but Flor suggests they calm down. They do and then they discuss the shop’s forthcoming grand opening and how they have faith lots of customers will come by soon. Renee laments that he is having money troubles at his age as she receives a call from Wilma and tells her she will be right over.

Mauricio has called Jorge into his office to help with the new image launch at the toy drive but he doesn’t look convinced. Neither does Fabian. Jorge then reminds Mauricio that he needs to go to court to legally recognize Anifer as his daughter and hands him a folder of papers that need to be presented. Mauricio thinks it’s too much of a hassle, especially if it’s for her to go to school, but Jorge thinks it is not. He then suggests that he take Anifer to his children’s school and have the mother help him. Anifer declares that her mother is in Africa at this time and they wonder what she means as Mauricio asks them to be quiet.

Later, Fabian chides Mauricio for lying to Anifer, especially with such a ridiculous story, but Mauricio thinks it’s perfect. Fabian wonders how long he will keep up the lie and Mauricio will try to keep it up as long as possible as his own father was too honest and it hurt. Either way, his ultimate plan is to make sure Anifer lives with him as little as possible because he misses his lifestyle and has parties to get to. Fabian shakes his head and Anifer comes and asks if Maria answered their email. Mauricio explains that he likely has no Internet and the girl agrees.

Tono arrives home and Veronica tells him that a tow truck moved Mauricio’s car. He’s happy to hear it and then she asks him to tell her about the interview, if he wants to. He smiles and explains that it’s merely a formality at this point, as he likely got the job. He then surprises her with a box of chocolate but she wonders what would happen if she got the job, instead of him. He thinks it would it be great, especially because the kids come first, and Veronica reveals that she got the job! He tries to smile as she jumps up and down but he is too shocked.

At the college, Wilma informs Renee that she called the University of Maryland and they changed the rules this year so that only 4 foreign students are accepted in her masters program. Renee can’t believe they changed the rules on a whim but Wilma is more worried because they have little to no information on the requirements for acceptance. Wilma suggests they find a Plan B, just in case, but Renee wants to go study in the US and she will risk everything to achieve her dream.

Jorge arrives home and calls her to his kids. He finds Valentina in the kitchen but she can’t hear him because she’s listening to music. He turns off the MP3 and asks her how the taxi ride was. She tells him it was fine but insists Dulce’s car would better. He asks her to drop it and then inquires about Samuel. Valentina tells him that he’s in the bathroom and Jorge goes off to find him. He calls out to Samuel, who can’t hear him, and is shocked to hear moans coming from the bathroom.

Tono stuffs his face with chocolates as he chides Veronica for not telling him the news soon. She explains that she was trying to spare his feelings but Tono can’t believe they told him he surely got the job but didn’t. Veronica apologizes for the way she told him the truth but reiterates that it’s good either way. Tono congratulates her but reminds her that he will continue looking for work. Veronica is happy to hear it.

Through the door, Jorge tells Samuel that he shouldn’t be crying in the bathroom. In fact, he should be a little man about it though he can trust him to talk. After a moment, he only hears more moans and opens the door with the key to find Samuel on the toilet, presumably masturbating. He screams for Jorge to get out.

All the Barrientos children congratulate their mother and then ask if Tono will remain at Logatoys. He explains that he will look for a better job for the future and Veronica tells the kids that, while she is out, Tono will care for them. Tono calls her into the kitchen then and wonders what will happen with the house as the job is full time. Veronica tells him that he will have to help out and leaves. Tono wonders how he could.

Sometime later, Jorge sits Samuel down and tries to explain his thoughts as best he can. He begins by describing his body as a temple, as Samuel asks him to stop, and declares that what he is doing is wrong and he likely got those thoughts from his friend who put the pornography on his tablet. Samuel stops short and Jorge realizes that Samuel downloaded the porn. Samuel begs him to stop but Jorge declares he is sick and needs Jesus.

That night, Fabian drops Mauricio and Anifer at the cul-de-sac and tells him he will get a company car tomorrow and two mattresses. Just then, Renee comes and declares that she needs to talk to Mauricio. Anifer greets her and Renee smiles before stating that she will find Mauricio later. Mauricio gets out of the car and asks her to say what she needs to in front of Anifer as they have no secrets. Renee asks him to talk in Spanish but Mauricio explains that he talks in both English and Spanish because he went to bilingual school. Renee did too but reminds him they live in Mexico and they speak Spanish.

Either way, she prefers to talk later and Mauricio asks her to take care of Anifer as he has a charity event to plan. Renee is shocked but agrees to babysit because Anifer looks bored. Fabian then helps her out of the car and Renee takes her to the gazebo as the guys go inside the house. By the gazebo, Renee asks if Mauricio is planning a charity event and Anifer nods before asking if she’s going. Renee is quiet.

From inside the house, Fabian observes the Renee and Anifer and declares that Renee is pretty. Mauricio agrees but states that she hates him. Fabian teases him a little and Mauricio reveals that he finds her more attractive lately because it’s been a while since he’s slept with anyone. Fabian then sees a picture of himself, his dad, Mauricio and Bosco. Mauricio laments that Fabian’s father, Noel, was not his father and Fabian reminds him that you don’t chose your parents.

At home, Renee tells Lupe what happened with Logatoys’ rehiring, the master’s program and Alejandro. Lupe tries to console her but Renee tells him that she handled her own and told Alejandro how she felt. She states that she loved it and smiles. Lupe reiterates that this is why he wants to protect her but Renee prefers to take care of things by herself. Lupe nods and then reminds her to define their relationship and decide if she wants to live with him in the US. She asks him to be patient and then goes over to her mother’s photo to ask for guidance. She tells her that the house is lonely and Lupe reminds her that this is why she should accept his offer. Renee chides for bringing it up (AGAIN!) and possibly wonders why she gave him a chance.

Over dinner, Jorge and Samuel are quiet and Valentina tries to find out what happened. Jorge declares that, since they are spending a lot more time alone, he is going to sign them up for some religion classes after school. Valentina tries to protest but Jorge states his decision is final.

The next morning, Anifer arrives at the charity drive with Gladys, who explains that various charities are there to collect toys but likely don’t want them because they are so ugly, and looks for Mauricio. Mauricio is at the other side of the event, chiding Fabian for only inviting one society magazine and for not telling him that he had to write a speech, when a nun arrives and Anifer waves at her.

Outside of Logatoys, Renee is trying to get inside the event, with any excuse, and hopes the security guard will accept her story.

Inside, Mauricio trampolines upstage and tries, horribly, to remember the speech Fabian told him to as Renee walks inside. The speech is dry and bad and Renee can’t seem to decide if she believes Mauricio’s change of heart.

Later, Mauricio asks Anifer if she liked the speech and the girl nods. Just then, the nun from earlier approaches them and thanks him for his charity. She finds it strange that there is only one little girl at the event and Anifer reveals that she is Mauricio’s daughter before walking away. The nun is pleasantly surprised but tells Mauricio that he doesn’t look too fatherly. Mauricio nods and explains that he never thought he’d be a father. The nun then introduces herself as Enriqueta and ask for the little girl’s name. Mauricio tells her it is Anifer and the Enriqueta is shocked to learn it’s the same name as her niece’s daughter but they live in a small town in the mountains...

Mauricio asks for the name of the town and Enriqueta tries to remember before Mauricio asks if it’s San Crispin en Chiapas. Enriqueta nods and Mauricio asks if her niece’s name is Maria Cruz...

Enriqueta nods, visibly upset but slightly happy, and declares that Anifer is her niece's daughter! Mauricio is shocked…

Wow! Thank you Alfredo for a great recap of a fun episode.

And wow again, Veronica must really love Toño. And I don't think Toño has any idea how lucky he is... to still be alive. I can sorta see why he might be tempted, but to do something like that to your own wife, that's rotten. We're all better than the worst thing we have ever done, but still...

And I feel sorry for Sammy. Kids can be so cruel, and when they see the hair on his palms, he's in for it.

Thank you,Alfredo. I wrote a !long comment and lost it. Grrr

I do not usually LOL at these shows, but I did when Tono was trying to get in the car with the other person. Isn't he a popular comedian ?

I think that Rulli is a fan of Will Ferrill. He is a fast talker, and you have to be smart and quick witted to be funny. I liked the karate kick.

The way they shoot the scenes in Renee's house is interesting. You are !looking at the characters through the shelves where Renee's photo is placed.

Thank you, Alfredo. Great recap and screen shots.

Andy, yes, Toño is one lucky man to still have a wife after what he pulled. Yes, they went there but quite tastefully: Hairy Palms . . . made me think of Ralphie in “ A Christmas Story” going blind in his fantasy.

I laughed at Toño not being able to get a cab.

Is Nerón going to give Mauricio a real deal on new tires?

Okay...Fab was driving that yellow at and now be tells Maur that he will vet a company. What is going on? And the photo of the two fathers and sons...hmmm . Maur wishes that Fan's dad had been his...was he?

Where's the shoebox?

Thanks for the recap Alfredo. Looking forward to seeing this. Our Cinderella string of wins got snapped last night (watched OSU basketball instead of this) and clearly I made the wrong choice. Lots of bad news yesterday.

And guess a few folks in this one got bad news as well. Slashed tires (Mauricio), lost job (Toño), busted in the bathroom (Samuel), lost office (Mauricio), bad news on job and school front (Renée), after school religion classes! (Valentina and Samuel)disillusionment with husband (Veronica) and finally....okay, they got the microwave fixed. But as I recall they bought all these ready to eat frozen dishes. There's no fridge or freezer in their little hut as I recall. Oh well, details. Who cares?

Thanks again, AAA. Detailed and compassionate when it comes to our little guy facing a rocky puberty. But beginning to understand why Dulce told Jorge he was terrible in bed. He's evidently still plagued by guilt over his desires as well.

Oh and Susanlynn, the fella playing Toño is great at comedy. He's one of the hosts on Hoy, but he was hilarious in Gancho. A big part of what made that show great.

Two flat tires, or maybe four on that little car, which I see they cover the manufacturer's logo, but it is a VW for sure. But he left a manual transmission in gear, so it is not going anywhere as they try to push it.

Tono is a slug. He annoys the cluck out of me now. There was no other way out of their little cul de sac? What happened to the Mexican favorite, 'Just drive over the sidewalk and yard'? He should be under the doghouse for a couple of years.

NOW, that's the Sonia I was waiting to surface.! ! Then he is eating her chocolates.
And what happened to shaving for a job interview?

The water bill mystery solved itself. Young guys need a little practice before they have their first real girlfriend, even if it is alone. Why do you think Daddys are so careless where we leave our Playboys?

What kind of car is Frabian driving? OK, yellow NEW Ford Mustang GT
BTW, his real life brother is one of the guys on Despierta America

Royal Blue Pleather jacket tonight on Renee as well as the dark Green or Black one

Oh shit, the dawg's in da house.
And being a shithead

I wrote my comment as I watched it last night and left out a very important part.

Thank You for an excellent retelling of our cray cray crew. Mr. AAA.

Good Morning, Patio Peps! AAA, great recap and screenshots, thank you!! All the details filled in some of the gaps for me since the episode was good, but seemed a little choppy to me.

So Sammy was caught being "underhanded" surprise, surprise!

Susy, yes, what happened to the shoebox? Is it still on the table?

I really thought Renee was going to let Mau have it when she found out that Logatoys was hiring again...is that going to be delayed/forgotten too?

Sheezo Andy I haven't heard or thought about the hairy palm in decades. Funny
So is the makeup nun the same on who had a different name when she was talking to Luisa..Gladys?

Is she Maria?

Looney Vision does this in all their TNs and I have noticed UniMas does not. They cover the logo, the VW or BMW or Ford or Bowtie or Toyota intersecting circles logo on all the cars. I referred to one of them one time as their Hello Kitty car as that was what the car's pastie looked like.

It may work sometimes, but when somebody drives up in a shiny F150,and it instead has a grey oval burrito in the grill they are not fooling anybody. I was watching Descontrol after Papa last night, and the cars have their normal logos on them and real license plates and parking or inspection stickers. A lot of Uni stuff is filmed in Columbia, I wonder if that has something to do with it. Descontrol is by W studios, the La Piloto people, and Netflix.

Alfredo, you did another outstanding job. Screen shots were excellent.

"He then gives her various kisses" made me smile.

Tono couldn’t catch a break. Or a taxi or bus apparently. I like that the woman batted Tono away from the taxi like the bothersome fly that he is. Andy, completely agree he has no idea how lucky he is. He should be kissing the ground Veronica walks on...

Thrilled Veronica got the job!

"Is Nerón going to give Mauricio a real deal on new tires?" Somehow I doubt it Jarifa! :) He has gotten such a raw deal, and with starting a new family, the time just couldn't be worse.

Thanks for the E-bomb list Kirby and RgvChick. I'm having fun listening for them now...

Judy, the chemistry Raul/Tono had with Laisha Wilkins in Gancho was incredible. He's not very likeable here Susanlynn, but was in Gancho.

Anifer is such a bright spot here.

Alfredo, thank you!

Diana

Oh, and for some unfathomable reason, I'm craving fish. Hmmm. Avatar perhaps?

Diana

:-) Diana. So has Mauricio learned nothing? He still craves going back to sports cars, his boat, and sleeping with babes like Miranda? As opposed to his life with Anifer in Dropcloth land? Maybe he could borrow Sammy's tablet.

BTW we didn't see Jorge going through said tablet erasing all that decadent delicious stuff did we.?

It will be funny when he gets caught by Val searching for Sammy's charger in the middle of the night. :-)

Kirby: I recognized the actress from "Vino El Amor" AKA the Cougar, who had sex with little boy.

Kirby, the nun that turned out to be Anifer's grandaunt is the same nun that talked to Gladys the first time...if I recall correctly, she used the same name.

Judy..That is a very complete !ist of all the misfortunes doled out in this episode. Your evaluation of Jorge's love skills is probably right on the money ,honey.

I dont have sons or brothers, but going to school with teen boys and teaching lots of them...yes,they are walking , talking hormone units. I often wonder if the boys in my class !earned as !ittle in their health class as the girls did in theirs.Well , many of us lived on farms. It's a miracle anyone survives puberty ,and Jorge now has to deal with two children going through it all by himself. I hope that one of the neighbor ladies will step in to talk to Valentina.

I really don't like Tonio and find him annoying most of the time.

Mau's spanglish is great and I find his ability to mimic Anifer so amusing. I have a bad feeling about this supposed grandaunt of Anifer and knowing Mau he's probably gonna do something stupid like handing Anifer to this stranger on a silver platter just to get rid of her.

Thanks Alfredo!!!

Tono is soooo lucky Veronica didn't kill him. Glad she got the job and loved her happy dance!

Mau is an awful public speaker. That is two disastrous speeches now, one drunk and one sober. Reminds me of Bridget Jones.

Neron is basically starting life over again with a young woman and child so now he has to work hard. I wonder if he will marry her. I haven't heard them speak of it.

At first I thought Mau wasn't telling Anifer the truth about her mom because he was too much of a coward. But now I feel a bit better because he doesn't want to hurt her like he was as a child. I still think it is wrong to let the lie go on further.

Now that the nun, who says she is a family member, has arrived, I'm sure he will try to get her to take Anifer.

Oh and watching Mau's friend Seb partying with girls half his age was just pathetic. I think that was yesterday's episode but needed to be said. Nothing sadder than being at a club watching an old dude go after 22 year olds.

Anon 10:32 and Carvivilie, ITA Mau will probably try to get Queta, the grandaunt/nun to take Anifer. That'll be devastating to Anifer who is already dealing with so much change in her life.

Carvivlie, "Oh and watching Mau's friend Seb partying with girls half his age was just pathetic... Nothing sadder than being at a club watching an old dude go after 22 year olds." Very true! All he needed was the flashy jewelery and a black toupee. Ack!

This TN is a "bit" kooky, but fun. You never know who is going to show up, this week it was the Lipstick Nun. We'll see about her. (Do nuns generally wear full habits in Mexico? The few nuns I have met in recent years in the U.S. do not. They wear conservative mufti and no lipstick, while they run hospitals, social welfare programs, etc. A few of them are hoping the Catholic Church gets with the times in time for them to become priests :)

Anyway, yet another mystery with this nun and her coincidental timing.

I feel for the actor playing Samuel. Hard enough at that age but then to be that age and have to play a character that is jerking off all day--has to be a bit embarrassing for him.

Can Jorge be anymore stunted? Telling Sam it is unnatural and sending them to religious classes. Something must have happened during his marriage to make him like this. I can't imagine Dulce marrying him and sticking with him otherwise. Unless she got pregnant while dating....

"Mau is an awful public speaker. That is two disastrous speeches now, one drunk and one sober. Reminds me of Bridget Jones".

Oh Carvivlie, that was priceless! Perfect comparison....:)

Dian

Returning from tasks to great comments.

Andy..The Lipstick Nun...love,love. My college roomie taught in a Catholic girls' school. She rented a place down the shore in the summer. One summer, a few nuns were there when we came to visit her. My daughters were fascinated to see sisters in swimsuits!!!

"Oh and watching Mau's friend Seb partying with girls half his age was just pathetic" For him or them?

I hate to burst you girls' bubble, but that says something about many basic man/woman relationships.
That scenario would never ever happen in a million years if he didn't appear, anyway, to have money. You figure it out.
It may not make a good statement about him, but it makes a far worse statement about the women.

Carvivle...yeah, that Bridget !! Good comparison. I, too, feel for the young actor playing Samuel.

Ah, I forgot. I think the silly logos that Televisa puts on cars and laptops is just their way to squeeze a few bucks out of companies for product placement. No pay, no play. If not that, then I'm stumped. It sure does look stupid. And it's obviously not working. Full disclosure: my score re explanations and predictions in TNs is running right about 0% now.

If the women were all over him because he had money and not because they found him attractive then it would make a statement that both sides are pathetic. But it looked more like he was pushing his way into their girls dancing circle and they were just being nice. So, okay, all sides are pathetic on this one (but the old guy should know better. ;)

I'm curious about the nun because why wouldn't Maria have sent Anifer to her? Maybe she mentioned her in the letter that Anifer lost?

The nun looked the same, but the Enriqueta one time and the Queta Mina threw me off They must mean the same thing somehow. So what on earth could be her angle?

Andy, do you think that is it with covering the car logos? If so they truly do deserve the name Looney Vision.

Old Dudes with money and young girls with none.....you can follow this pattern throughout history...the barter system. Hey, it probably started in prehistory...mature male with his own cave seeks strong, young mate for one final swing from the vine. #tradition

Susy, my point exactly. If there were no sellers there would be no buyers. Look in these TNs we watch and see how many attractive women are chasing men with money. It is not fair to the good looking broke guys. :-)

LOL Susanlynn!

The original tale as old as time.

Kirby, let me repeat, "Full disclosure: my score re explanations and predictions in TNs is running right about 0% now."

So, if you heard it from me, it's very probably not so.

:-)

I am really disappointed that Mauricio still thinks of getting rid of his flesh and blood daughter.
And I am especially so in view of the fact that he does not have a playboy life to go back to. Mauricioito, THIS IS YOUR new LIFE. Make the best of it. And this is your new daughter.

For the price of their meal recently, (a couple red delicious apples) he could not buy his first drink where Sebastard was partying when he called him.

Let an endless spendable pile of money go away and see how many friends you have Mau.

Yeah but you were dead on about the palm hair.

Alfredo, thank you for you recap! I look forward to watching this over lunch. :-)

Poor Sam's vision might be at risk. ~snort~

Jorge is a real piece of work. However, IRL (in real life) there are a lot of people like him. Sad.

Susanlynn - "#tradition" LOL~!!! More like the mating strut & dance in the wild kingdom, where male plumage usually is brighter than females. (take that, Marlin Perkins)

Well , blogger will not let me comment from my phone. It asks which profile I would prefer to use, out of a choice of one, which is already active, then says ....publishing....never to be seen again.

Anywho Loopy is about as annoying, in a pitiful kind of way, as Tono now. How much longer will ReKnee put up with his slobbering and whining until she starts figuring out ways to avoid him?

Excellent recap, Alfredo. Yep, that "nun" has con artist written all over her. Anyone who had an ounce more sense than Mauricio would realize that. It's kind of cool that 3 of the major characters are engineers, including 2 women. ( I say that as the mother of a female engineer). It's hard to believe that a US state school would restrict foreign students, especially in technical fields. Given that they have to pay full tuition, they're kind of our life blood. And now we know that Renée is 100% bilingual and should have no problem in a US program. It was about time for Fabián to come through with some survival essentials--beds and a working car.

SpanPRof..YOu are so right about the high tuition that international students pay. I have taught many engineers from different countries. Some already had degrees from their own countries , but they had to learn or improve their English and get certified to work here. They always told me that their American math teachers were impressed with their math skills. My daughter loved math but did not want to go into engineering so she has degrees in math and computer science and has been working in finance. In that field , she has always worked with mostly men, and it is difficult for women in maledominated fields . Maybe the situation will improve as more women pursue those professions.

Thank you everyone for dropping by, glad you enjoyed the recap as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Tono trying to catch any method of transportation was the BEST! I love how he fought with that old lady for taxi and she kicked him to curb. Either way, he didn't deserve that job since he tried to oust Veronica. Her jumping up and down as the icing on the cake!

As soon as Renee said she went to bilingual school, I smiled, because she can go toe-to-toe with Mauricio in more ways than one. Ha!

The second biggests LOL for me was Mauricio describing Gladys, who was out sick: "How can she be out sick? She's as old and strong as the mountains of kilimanjaro and so bitter that not even the flu wants to keep her company." La pobre.

I'm shocked Mauricio didn't get a mattress first thing. I would think, at least for him, he would want comfort.

I can't tell if the nun is genuine or not, mostly, because I've seen bigger coincidences in TNs so I can't even judge what's too farfetched or not.

Jorge is so disconnected that he can't even distinguish a moan from crying. Wow.

" can't even distinguish a moan from crying. Wow."

I believe it is becoming more clear how his (HOT) wife could leave him for a macho shaved head bad boy.
Life does not end after you have produced the obligatory babies.

Alfredo: I think that what made me think the nun is a con artist was the way she got Mauricio to feed her the correct answers about Anifer's mother's name and the name of her village, in the traditional con artist way.

Yeah, Jorge is too judgy and out of touch with the modern world. If Mauricio is too "cool," Jorge is too square.

I hadn't thought of that SpanProf but it could be possible. Was she sent? Does she know Mauricio's broke? She had enough info to know it was a village in the mountains so...there's something rotten in Mexico City, for sure.

I thought it was maybe a relative that would fight for Anifer and take her away, thus making Mauricio realize that he loves her, but it could also be a con. Interesting.

Thank you so much Alfredo! I just absolutely LOVED your screenshots. I love doing screenshots myself, it just makes the episode that much more fun. I am looking forward to tonight's episode. I wonder what is up with this nun? This might get interesting.

Cynthia, I'm usually not about doing the screenshots but the facial expressions some of the actors make or just the situations they get in deserve a screenshot. Anifer with her arms crossed next to Mauricio was hilarious and I had to capture it. I think this is the first novela I recap that lends itself to screenshots because it's just too fun.

Alfredo, I enjoyed the screencaps, too. Good labels of "cool" Maur (also c!ueless) and "square" Jorge.
