Papa a Toda Madre #49 3.27.18: Coming Together and Falling Apart

Or You Never Know What You Have Until You're Losing it

At Jorge’s, Kika goes around the room and asks all his children if anyone told him about her visit the other day. They all shake their heads and Kika realizes that, unless Jorge has superpowers, he has hidden a camera in his house to keep an eye on them. She smiles and tells the children that it’s time to find out where it’s hidden.

At Neron’s shop, Pablo tells Neron that he was fired from his job at the school, but he went back to thank the director, who gave him some money to help him out, and has decided to leave for the border immediately. Neron warns him to be cautious but Pablo is decided to leave at once. Neron then asks if he is going to leave Lili and Pablo confirms he will because he came to Mexico to cross the border, so he can find his father, and nothing else. Just then, Roberto, Flor’s potential future suitor, comes in and chides Neron for selling him tires that are completely deflated. Neron assures him that he will fix that right away and sends Pablo to do it as he asks Roberto to sit down so they can talk some more. To himself, Neron assures himself that Pablo is the best man to replace him.

After Laura finishes the meeting, Tono, Jorge and Mauricio discuss the meeting. Jorge doesn’t like Laura because she’s too “hippie” and a woman so he doubts how much she can help. Tono and Mauricio, however, welcome any help they can get from anywhere they can get it. Tono then asks Jorge why he looks so nervous and Jorge admits that he’s stressed because of Logatoys and hopes the new line is a success. Tono assumes it will be, as they have also collected sufficient money to launch a small line, and Mauricio asks him to invite Tono as well to the cocktail party, so he doesn’t feel left out. When Mauricio leaves, Tono pulls Jorge down and asks him to tell him what is happening, for real. Jorge tells him it is just Logatoys, and that’s it, but Tono knows it is something else.

Neron assures Roberto that sometimes the materials they get are bad but the service is good, so he will be taken care of like he deserves. Roberto nods and Neron then reminds him how much they have in common as Roberto nods again. Neron then confesses that he’s scared to die and leave his Flor and Milady alone and Roberto tells him not to worry about it, as life is unpredictable, and he should give them all he can right now. Neron still wants to make sure they are taken care, should he ever die, and hopes Flor picks a man that will value her and Milady. Roberto doesn’t know what to say though and Pablo then screams that they found the faulty tire and are going to change it. Roberto goes to pay Neron but Neron assures him that the tire replacement is part of the warranty and he can come to him with anything. Pablo is shocked to hear this but Neron assures him it’s true and then he and Roberto exchange cards, in case they need each other in the future. As Neron continues to complement Roberto, Pablo looks on, confused.

Renee goes to the temp agency but finds that there are no temporary jobs available, though there were no permanent jobs available the last time she was there. The representative shrugs his shoulders and explains that the job market is volatile. He then finds that he has some labor-intensive jobs but doesn’t think a graduated, female engineer would want to do those jobs. Renee wonders if he has a problem with her being a graduated, female engineer and the man thinks she’s overreacting. Female tells him to shove his job where he can and then answers a call from Mauricio, who invites her to the cocktail party. He asks her to please come and promises to pick up Anifer, so she isn’t delayed. Renee promises to try and then hangs up as the representative, who was listening in on the call, suggests she use her feminine wiles to get a permanent job at Logatoys. Renee calls the man an idiot and storms out.

Fabian walks into Mauricio’s office, all smiles, and asks if he’s ready for the party. Mauricio can’t be excited because the party looks so cheap in comparison to the ones they’ve had before, but Fabian thinks he should be excited because he was able to fund the toy line. Mauricio nods and then decides to go check on all the machinery and talk to the workers, lest Falcon sent someone to sabotage the toy line again, but Fabian asks if Mauricio doesn’t trust him because he did all that already. Fabian does find it strange that Falcon disappeared though, without another word, and Mauricio remembers that Fabian insisted he accept Falcon’s money and offer. Fabian explains that you never really know someone, and Mauricio agrees, you never really do, and leaves.

Tono is making dinner and calls Veronica to tell her about the cocktail party so she can take the children. Veronica doesn’t care either way, but she finds it strange that he gets along with Mauricio. Tono tells her that things change, like their relationship, and Veronica wonders when and how they will tell the kids, especially Tania and Ernesto, who are old enough to understand what is happening. Tono suggests they wait and reconsider but Veronica is adamant that they need a break. She promises to come home early, so they can tell the kids and hangs up.

Renee goes to visit Rafael to tell him about her feelings with Mauricio. He already suspected it and Renee explains that loving Mauricio is too complicated as she’s leaving soon and has a different life plan. Rafael thinks she’s going to have a hard time denying her feelings and Renee smiles wide and agrees with him that love is beautiful. Rafael teases her as Renee laughs, still not admitting that she’s more than in love with Mauricio.

Neron arrives at Logatoys and shakes hands with Mauricio and says hello to Anifer. He then foes inside the party as Tono arrives with his kids and Mauricio welcomes them. Gladys then comes to inform Mauricio that there are reporters outside and Mauricio asks her to smile, just a little, if she’s going to attend them. Gladys gets misty eyed, shocked that she must show her teeth like some sort of dog, and Mauricio encourages to smile as she walks away. Off to the side, Tono and Neron wonder what exactly is going on but neither can figure out why Mauricio is being so nice and forthcoming.

Sometime later, Mauricio has gathered all the guests and reporters in the boardroom to present the new toy line. Fabian calls him off to the side and reminds him that the new line is currently his responsibility, from promotion to execution, and Mauricio asks him not to worry as he is ready for battle and will make sure everything is a success, with or without Falcon supporting them. He then walks back and starts his presentation, which consists of the rebirth of Logatoys. Jorge claps awkwardly, as does everyone else, and Mauricio knows that he has been horrible in the past, but things have changed, and he is a new man, who hopes to hire them soon. Renee arrives as everyone claps again and Anifer cheers him on.

Kika and Jorge’s children have found the camera and, as she smiles, the children chide their father for being so sneaky and mean to them. After a moment, Kika suggests they give a taste of his own medicine and smiles again.

As Mauricio goes through his presentation, Tono and Neron wonder if Mauricio is being overzealous but are happy to know they may be hired back by Logatoys. Mauricio announces that the toy he is presenting is from Anifer’s designs and it is a very liberal and avant-garde design. He also confesses that he is learning a lot him, things he never thought he would, and must thank someone else for all their help and support. Someone who he wants to be at his side, all his life. At that moment, Fabian, who was smiling because he thought Mauricio was talking about him, frowns and looks at Renee as Mauricio asks her to be his partner and give him the opportunity to show her how much he’s changed and how much he loves her. Tania and Anifer smile as Renee, speechless, can’t find the right way to answer. Mauricio tells her to think it over, as he’s been proposed to in front of a crowd and it’s always tough, but Renee then asks him to move on from the topic and Mauricio nods before starting to talk about the toy line. Renee interrupts him though, because she has her own story to tell, and explains how she used to see him when he came on vacation, but he didn’t notice her until recently, when he thought she was a man and slapped her butt. Mauricio remembers the moment and smiles as Renee confesses that she thought he was a playboy, junior, ingrate, spoiled, rich boy but has slowly realized that he is not that man anymore. In fact, he is a noble, kind, loving father, and he has stolen her heart. Neron cheers Renee on and Tono asks him to calm down as Renee explains that she’s not sure what will happen in the future, but, right now, she feels the same thing as he does. She then walks over to Mauricio and takes him in her arms before kissing him among the cheers of all those present.

Kika tells all the Turrubiantes children to pretend they don’t know they found the camera and help her with her plan. All the children agree, except Samuel, but they all try to convince him to accept as Jorge has not right to have a camera watching them. Valentina assures him that nothing bad will happen and Samuel finally agrees as Kika tells them that they must get everything ready.

Later, Mauricio has taken everyone to the assembly line and launches the production of the toy line. As the machinery begins to function, he instructs everyone to cross everything and pray hard. As everyone claps, Mauricio tells Renee that he feels stronger with her by his side and she asks him for patience as it’s going to be weird to see him as a partner when he was a friend and a nuisance before. Mauricio is willing to wait and Renee smiles before telling him that she and Anifer are going home and will see him there. Mauricio smiles and says, “I love you” to which Renee answers, “I love you too” and Anifer begs them to stop because they are being too cheesy. Mauricio and Renee smile and she takes Anifer home as Mauricio looks on.

As others begin to leave, Tania and Ernesto walk away from the presentation but Tono asks them to wait up and asks if they would be happy if he worked at Logatoys again, especially now that he has helped Mauricio with some outside stuff lately. The children ask about Veronica, and if she will work there again too, but Tono suggests they ask her directly. Neron comes then and asks why he came with the kids, as he thought Veronica could babysit them sometimes, but Tono promises to explain alter and then sends the kids to find Fidel. Once alone with Neron, Tono asks him what he thinks about Mauricio’s new attitude. Neron slightly cringes as Mauricio seems honest about all he said but finds it strange that he thanked everyone who helped him, besides his right-hand man and “bro for lyf”, Fabian. Tono agrees.

A few feet away, Gladys flirts with two employees by offering to take off all the grime and dirt off their uniforms, if they pass by the receptionist’s desk and undress in front of her. The employees are confused but Gladys smiles wide and walks away.

A few feet from them, Jorge assures Mauricio that, should Falcon decide to demand them for anything, they will be okay because he’s got them covered from all angles. Mauricio thanks him for his help and, because he can trust him with anything, he wants to know if he can help him with something and use an outside accountant. Just then, Fabian arrives and Jorge leaves as Fabian teases Mauricio for his cheesy speech; he thought it was in poor taste, but Mauricio tells him that he is 100% serious about his future plans and everything he said. Fabian wants to know about his future plans, but Mauricio tells him to be patient as he will tell him when he’s ready. For the time being, Mauricio wants to recapture the family essence of the Logatoys of yesteryear, like it was when Bosco was alive. Fabian nods and Mauricio leaves.

All the Turrubiantes kids are dressed like they are going to the beach, except Samuel, and Kika instructs them to make a lot of noise when Jorge calls so wants to spy on them via the camera. Jorge then calls Valentina to ask her how everything is going and all of them make a lot of noise as Valentina pretends that nothing is wrong and quickly hangs up. Jorge, furious, turns on the camera and spies on them as Kika announces that they are all going to the beach. Jorge calls Valentina and demands to know what is going on. Valentina asks if he doesn’t know and they all look right into the camera and laugh because his little secret is out.

After all the guests have left, Mauricio reconvenes with Neron and Tono and thanks them for coming and for supporting him with the new line. He hopes to rehire them soon but Neron wonders if he will be able to work like before since he’s retired. Mauricio thinks he could rehire him in a more executive position and Neron smiles. Tono will be happy with any job at the company and then he and Neron thank Mauricio once again and leave. Once they’ve left, Fabian comes and wonders why Mauricio told them all of that when they have no extra money to spare. Mauricio thinks they will, as soon as they get rid of all the dead weight and walks away as Fabian tries to reason with him.

Renee takes Anifer home and tells her that today is a very special day and Anifer asks why and smiles. (Renee and Anifer jump into a musical interlude telling each other that they have changed their lives for the better and are happy to be in each other’s lives). Renee then hugs and kisses Anifer, who confesses that she wanted her and Mauricio to get together since they met but thought she didn’t want to be with him because she was leaving. Renee makes it clear that studying in the US is still very much in her future, but she needs to air out the details first. Anifer wonders when she and her father are getting married to, as the details are very important, and Renee nods, continually surprised at how sharp this little girl can be,

Jorge arrives home in a huff and demands to know how all his children can do this do him. All the children are sitting on the couch, smiling to themselves, as Kika stands off in the corner and smiles as well. Jorge warns them that there will be consequences, but the kids want to know if he is going to receive punishment for spying on them; they are sure it is illegal and a sin to spy on a minor. Jorge is furious and turns his attention to Kika. He calls her a bad influence on her children and wonders why she hasn’t left Mexico if he already gave her the passport she had lost. Kika explains that it is expired, and she doesn’t have her Venezuelan passport so she’s stuck, for now. Jorge can’t believe she corrupting his children, because she has nothing better to do, but Kika argues that she came to help them because he was spying on them, like a crazy person. Jorge can’t believe Kika is telling him how to take care of his children and demand he left and never come back. She smiles, tells the children that they have to overthrown their father’s dictatorship and hopes she never has to see Jorge again before leaving.

At Tono’s, the children and Tono teach Rola a new trick and they talk about all the things they love to do with her. Ernesto loves to play fetch with her and shows them how; they all cheer when she brings back the toy to them. Tono gives Rola a treat for doing such a great job in playing fetch and teaches the children that they should give her one whenever she does something worthwhile. The children and Tono all cheer Rola on.

Neron tells Flor and Pablo the good news: he will be rehired at Logatoys in the near future and Flor couldn’t be happier. Pablo is happy to see that they will be financially stable in the future and Neron is happy that his women won’t want for nothing when he dies. Flor chides him for always thinking about death but Neron wants to be prepared, just in case. Pablo then grows serious and announces that he is leaving for the border tomorrow. Neron and Flor wonder if he’s sure and ready, especially because he will run into trouble on both sides, but Pablo is adamant. He then thanks them for all their help and support during this time and both declare that he has won their love. Neron then gives Pablo everything he has in his wallet, to get him started, and Pablo thanks him. Neron then asks about Lili again and Pablo assures him that he will find a solution to that situation in the future, but not right now.

That night, at home, Mauricio, Renee and Anifer sit on the couch, hugging each other. Mauricio declares that he is happy as can be because he has his two loves with him and suggests they watch a movie, though Anifer is fast asleep. Renee asks him to be quiet and Mauricio carries her to her room and puts her down for the night as Renee waits for him. While alone, she begins to play with a toy horse and Mauricio comes back, sees her, and teases her about being a “Great Amazonian.” Renee smiles and Mauricio, thinks it’s great Anifer left them alone, though there are risks, and Renee smiles again. He suggests she kiss him and Renee does, and he then suggests she give him a hug and she does; when he asks for more, Renee suggests she calm down and be happy with what he got. She then confesses that she has a lot to tell him but doesn’t know how and Mauricio begs her to stay the night and promises to be a gentleman. Renee smiles but can’t stay the night because they have a lot of things to resolve regarding their future. For now, they can kiss, and she plants one on Mauricio, who is more than happy to accept.

Veronica arrives home and finds the children and Tono waiting for her. She wonders what is happening and Tono explains that she got them ready for her because they have something important to talk about. Veronica and Tono sit down and she explains that they both have something to tell them. Tono reminds her that she wanted to tell their children something and Veronica bites the bullet and sits down next to the children. She tells them they are used to their parents sleeping together but that won’t be the case for the foreseeable future. Tono jumps in and explains that he will sometimes sleep on the couch, instead of the bedroom, but Veronica stops him. She makes it clear that Tono will actually be moving out and living elsewhere while they stay with her. Tono is floored at the news…

Thank you so much Mr. AA What an enjoyable episode. BTW:
Clue D Tono. RGV you had A, B, and C last night, right?

You'd think I was cheating and watching ahead, but I just know women. I saw this coming a mile away. She kicked his smelly ass out. Don't forget your razor and shampoo pigpen. Ha !

Manana Amigos

Ay yi yi Alfredo. Grateful for the recap but horrified at the outcome in this one. But must focus on the positive.....

You came up with a terrific title.

And those screencaps were awesome.

And I'm glad that Renée and Mauricio are officially prometidos now.

And that there's hope Nerón and Toño can get their old jobs back.

And that Gladys has a reason to smile! (and might even get MORE of a reason)

And Hell's Bells, I'll just forget about all the rest (one of the perks of aging)

Alfredo: Awesome recap.

Kirby: Veronica sure pulled a BIGLY one on Tono.

Good morning Kirby and Judy. Hello marvelous eagle.

Alfredo, once again you've outdone yourself." Gladys gets misty eyed, shocked that she must show her teeth like some sort of dog, and Mauricio encourages to smile as she walks away" and “bro for lyf" were among but a few favorites.

Like Judy, I loved the title. Fantastic recap.

I thoroughly enjoyed every second of Kika getting her revenge on Jorge. She has a playful side and is pretty cagey. I'm not sure Jorge deserves her! We really need to see some forward movement from him. He is mired in his own muck.

Mau and Renee's relationship is gently unfolding in a believable, romantic way.

Now, Pablo is lying to everyone, right? He and Lili are going together, correct? If so, I didn't care for that at all.

I'm sensing Neron likes Roberto far better than Flor ever would! As Niecie said yesterday, I'm getting a bit tired of this storyline. More Neron and where has little Milady been??

Kiby, yes, you called Vero's leaving. I guess I didn't want to see it...At least she was calm with the children. That said, she should have spoken with Tono first. I'm not sure how much time is supposed to have passed but her metamorphasis was too quick.

I like the "real" brotherhood of Tono, Mau and Jorge. Although Jorge is as usual off to the side by himself. I forget what Mau called Jorge last night but it made me smile.

You also made me smile Alfredo. Great screen shots and very, very well done.

Diana

I didn't think Vero would stoop so low and do that to Tono without consulting him. Does that mean he's also not taking care of the kids anymore? She continues to diminish his worth, making him look so disposable. What bothers me about her is that her decision and opinion is the only thing important to her. Was she always inconsiderate and just didn't have the opportunity to act on it before?

Maia

Thank you, Alfredo! Excellent recap and perfect title!

I loved Kika and the kids finding the camera and giving Jorge a little payback. He just has to end up with Kika!

Yuck! I am tired of the Nerón/Roberto plot already and Flor looks tired of it, too.

Mauricio sure is changing: employment possibilities for Nerón and Toño as well as asking Renée to be novios in front of everyone.

Good call, Kirby, on Verónica for showing Toño the door.

JudyB, yes! Gladys and a reason to smile. She always makes me laugh with her one note schtick.

Diana you called it: yes, Jorge is “mired in his own muck”. Not much movement there as with the other characters but when thinking about it, how else could it be? : )

I sure hope Pablo and Lili hit the road.

You just have to wonder what is going through Fabian's mind with the rebirth of Logatoys and Mauricio. I am not sure I understand how Mau plans on pulling it off without some TN magic, but more power to him. I suppose I will snug up my beanie and assume even with the new toy design having been stolen and already in production elsewhere that the Mama Papa dolls will be a huge success. The Chinese knockoffs don't usually put the American, Japanese or German originals out of business, so realistically he should still do alright. I mean what will Fabian do next, and does Fakian know now that Mau is onto him, or suspect it?

Yeah Diana, WTF is with Neuron and his new BFF. Or in his mind, Bestie till he DIES ! Is he ready to come out?

Yeah, Pablo is lying, but can he really tell everyone his hairbrained :-) plans to illegally sneak into another country with a minor girlfriend? Did you see how intently Pablo was listening to the conversations between Neu and NewNeu as he was monkeying around with that bald tire? I think something is up, but have no clue what. If there were any hopeo of Neuron dying out of our way and off my screen I would be all for it, but proctology work is not a guaranteed predecessor to the grim reaper.

In the presence of a good looking woman Jorge reminds me of a barking ass little chihuahua who turns into a quivering mass of jello when you get too close. When he was with Laura and she put her hand over 'there' I kept looking to see if he'd wet his pants. I'm liking Ms Kikmeister more every day. She's fearless. And smart.

It is nice to see Mau and Renee going about this their way, rather than setting some sheets on fire then trying to figure out whether or not they even like one another.

Tono and Vero: When women STOP talking, "Houston, we have a problem". OTOH, when your kids get up in front of everybody and tell that life at home is WWIII/Smackdown it is time to make a change. Standing there trembling behind a closed door listening to that Bull is not good.

I see they are showcasing Renee and Anifer's singing. Hmmmm Interesting and cute, but different.

Jarifa, I am hoping Neron gets gainful employment with Logatoys so that he can get back to the business of living...it would be good for Tono too as he and Vero sort out their mess.

Kirby, you raised a point Judy did recently in that the real devastation occurrs when partners stop speaking. As a die hard romantic, I am still hoping they can work things out. Sometimes, you need to hit rock bottom.

Diana

Ah, yes, the singing. Good description, Kirby. : )

Jarifa: Let's hope Karma hits Veronica soon.

Thanks Alfredo!!!

I admit, I like Tono. Yes he has faltered but he has picked up. He is capable of learning and growing. He is taking care of the kids well, the house well and isn't killing the dog. I think Vero is being harsh. I think her newfound sense of financially controlling the family has gone to her head a bit. She is making choices without Tono and that is dangerous. And the fact that she is throwing him out, and telling him in front of the children, is wrong. But I still think she loves him. She is just tired. I hope they make up soon.

Oh Jorge, I just want to punch you! Super glad Kika is messing with him. Even though I don't see them as a couple--she's rich, from Miami and adept at social media--and a strong, opinionated woman. I like Laura more for Jorge but since she isn't in the credits it looks like Kika gets him. I'll be interested to see how it works out.

Neron's story is boring. I worry about Pablo and Lily but they are holding onto each other for survival right now.

Mr AAA, thank you for another great recap of this extremely interesting episode.

Kirby, "Did you see how intently Pablo was listening to the conversations between Neu and NewNeu as he was monkeying around with that bald tire? I think something is up, but have no clue what."

Same here. The TN folks definitely wanted us to see it, the camera focus went back and forth several times between the foreground with Nerón and his new buddy to the background with Pablo working on the tire. But what was it that Pablo was making of Nerón's conversation? I dunno, but want to.

Mistress Kika gave Georgy Boy a good working over, and probably not for the last time. I still think he would be better off with the sweet Laura, but we'll see.

Toño and Vero either need to make up soonest or they will crash and burn.

Kirby and Andy, Pablo knows something is up, but if I were he, I wouldn't know exactly what it was either.

I can't see any point to showing that unless Pablo ends up not leaving. He and Flor seem close and I'm sure he would tell her what's what in a NY minute. If he figures it out. Neron is really "out there" at times.

Carvivlie, I like what you said about Pablo and Lili "holding onto each other for survival right now". They must be more desperate to be together than I'd realized.

Diana

Thank you , Mr. AAA, for your always excellent recap. The commentary is great as always too.
I'm also glad Mau and Renee are finally prometidos, but there is something that just didn't have a right "fit" for me last night. I can't put my finger on it, but there is just something about how the Mau-Renee relationship was suddenly all hunky-dory after Renee was so indecisive about it.

I also thought the Anifer-Renee talk was a little too much. I just can't see a seven-year old having that kind of talk with a woman-in-love.

One more thing that was unsettling to me---Though I enjoyed seeing Jorge get caught, I am ambivalent about how it was done. Kika had been told to stay away from the home at least twice; and she keeps on defying Jorge. She laughs about it, which is fine, if the kids were not around. I didn't like that she used the kids in such a way...yes, Jorge had it coming, but it was still a bad example to set for the kids...especially at that age.

The Anifer-Renee song was okay, but were they both imagining the same thing. Did they both run into the house and change clothes t go play outside, then changed back to their original outfits somewhere outside because when they walked in the house they were wearing the clothes they wore to the production event. I must have been having a bad night...Or am I thinking too much????

I agree with everyone about Veronica...too harsh, it's gotten to her head, very inconsiderate not to have warned Tono about her plan...and where does she expect him to go if he doesn't have a paying job? I actually felt sorry for Tono.

I saw that look Pablo gave Neu and NewNeu...have no idea what to make out of it unless Pablo is going to warn Flor about it before he leaves...if he leaves because I'm starting to doubt that the lover's plan is going to work out.

Fabian is either really stooopid or putting on a good show for Mau since he doesn't seem to get it that Mau has made a 180 on him....even Tono and Neuron noticed. And Wow, Neuron slated to be on the Logatoy board....pretty good! Maybe that will help him refocus and be rid of his tiresome attitude.

Andy, "crash and burn" hmmm...have you ever heard the song "Crash and Burn" by Savage Garden? It's not at all what the title implies...very nice song!

Crash and Burn by Savage Garden

When you feel all alone
And the world has turned it's back on you
Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart
I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you
It's hard to find relief and people can be so cold
When darkness is upon your door and
You feel like you can't take anymore
Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone
When you feel all alone
And a loyal friend is hard to find
You're caught in a one way street
With the monsters in your head
When hopes and dreams are far away and
You feel you can't face the day
Let me be the one you call
If you…

Diana,

My impression is that neither feels like they have family. Pablo is searching for his Dad and Lily lost her mom. Jorge has not stepped into the breach for her so she feels without love and support.

Thank you, Alfredo, for another wonderful retelling.

Carvivle ,I agree that Vero should not have made her announcement in front of the kids. She and Tono need to talk a!one or get counseling. Tono seems to be trying , and he is doing better with the kids and the house. He Certainly is affectionate and loving to the kids. Perhaps he and Vero have fallen out of love now that their situation has changed so drastically. A long, happy marriage requires both spouses to ride with the tide and go with the flow. Flexibility and forgiveness and a sense of humor are necessities if couples are to survive the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune .

For some reason Jorge spying on his kids didn’t bother me. The kids are slick, there’s four of them and at least the camera was in the living room. It was originally put there to spy on Valentina who would just take off to party whenever she felt like it.

I don’t like how Kika is manipulating the kids either. She’s being rebellious just to annoy him and I think what she’s doing qualifies as trespass and harassment because she continues to show up in the house without any valid reason. Jorge has every right to know who enters his house and who’s influencing his kids. Making him mad isn’t going to solve their issues with him either.

Tono went from unemployment to homemaker to nanny to now possibly being homeless. Who wouldn’t feel worthless after all that? I don’t like that Vero’s trying to separate him from the kids.

Neron is just plain dumb. At the beginning of the novela he didn’t want to have a child with Flor, so why did he ever agree later? He should have thought about every possible issue before committing to such a relationship. He's going to get a good one from Flor when she finds out that he's setting up her life.

I get the impression that Rene is trying to forget about who Mauricio used to be, whenever she’s with him. Their relationship seems off to me too.

Maia

The Toño situation could easily be solved. He needs to get a job outside of the house and they need to hire a babysitter. He is in a bad situation with Vero but he asked for it. Not too comfy when the shoe is on the other foot.

Fot me this seems to be what I call “a piece of fluff” so I try not to think much and just enjoy the ride eventhough Toño is terminally annoying.

Rgv Chickie, thank you for the info on "Crash and Burn". Thanks to youtube I was able to listen to it (I usually keep my eyes closed for such things as I think almost all music videos are, at best, silly).

It's a good reminder that music creation did not stop somewhere around 1980, (aside from the Traveling Wilburys and, much more recently, Adele, and the less musical but sometimes fun Nicki Minaj). Go figure.

Thanks again.

:-)

Susanlynn...Remember when you and Carlos got in trouble for exchanging recipes...among them one for an incredibly rich and sinful Cornbread? Do you still have that recipe? Need it now.

I was surprised that the children's "revenge" on Jorge was so mild. Yelling and claiming they're about to go to the beach when they could have been doing something cardiac-inducing.

Wise words Susanlynn abt marriage!

Judy...I typed out the recipe on my other tablet , but the tablet died before I could post it. I am at my daughter's house waiting for hub to return from the airport with my older daughter's family, so I do not have my recipe card. However, I think I remember . ingredients...1 Jiffy cornbread mix, 1 egg, 1 can sweet corn, 1 can creamed corn, 8oz sour cream, 1 stick butter melted. Mix everything together. Pour into greased baking dish. Bake at 350 for (I think) about 40 minutes depending on your oven. Test with a toothpick as you would a cake. If it comes out clean, it's done.

Doritos, LOTS of Doritos lawless reprobates
The nerve. I feel fat just reading it.

Thanks, Alfredo.

I agree with everybody about Toño. Just when he's finally getting it together -- his helping Mau is a big plus, and he cleaned up the kids' room the other day after unfairly yelling at them -- she tosses him away. Telling her about that kiss (planted on him, not initiated by him) was his cry for attention from her. They need to head to a marriage counselor.

†††Prayers for Cynthia who is still having a difficult time with the Bell’s Palsy†††

Just popped in to say hello. I am still not doing too well with this Bell's Palsy attack. Very fatigued and having eye problems. I cannot stay looking at a computer screen for very long.

AS for the show, I am finding it strange that Neron wants to make sure that Flor has a new husband when he kicks the bucket. He goes from being ultra and insanely jealous of any man who looked at her to trying to find a new husband for her.

I am very disappointed in Veronica. Tono isn't that bad. Yes, he's annoying but I don't think he is not working because he is just lazy. It's been difficult settling into the house husband role and she just expects too much. He gets no help because all she does is travel.

So is Mau NOT Anifer's father? (I'm picturing the Maury Povich show, "You are NOT the father!"

You can call me what you want here, but I am not in agreement with two men trying to bring a baby in the world without a mother. Children have a hard enough time in the world as it is without depriving them of having a real mother in their lives. I'm sorry, two men, no matter how "nice" they are and how much they like children, make a very poor mother substitution. A father can't morph into a mother and a mother can't morph into a father. They are not interchangable. The writers of this show would have us believe that biological mothers and fathers are expendable, interchangable, and all you need love. No, you need a lot more than that to be good parents. Every child deserves to have both a mother and a father.

I love the Maury Povich mention!

Thanks Susanlynn! Much obliged! Hope you have a very Happy Easter with your family.

And Ditto for everyone.

Cynthia, prayers for restored health continue. Healing is always at work, but sometimes it seems very slow.

A voice in the wilderness Cynthia. I wrote the other day that I have no feelings one way or the other with R&R, but bringing a child into life by the hook and crook of science and technology is a slap in the face to Mother Nature.

And their stated reason to do all this is "Because they want a baby." How frigging nice. If you WANT something Lord let us move Heaven and earth to make sure you sweeties get it.

Cynthia..I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

All this baby wanting talk, and I am waiting up for hub who is currently making an emergency diaper run for the visiting 7 month old.

Judy..I miss Carlos and his recipes . I hope that the baked corn comes out for you. My family loves it , but I only make it for Christmas and Easter.

Thanks Alfredo for your hard work, forgot to tell you above. And even more, thank you for stepping in for me on Friday since I can hardly stare at the computer screen without my eye drying out and burning.

Thanks Susanlynn, Judy, and RGV Chick for your well wishes. Healing is slow and I'm exhausted all the time.

Kirby, I often end up being a lone voice in the wilderness. I'm a strong advocate of children and even with the story regarding Anifer, it's ridiculous that a little girl could be shoved around like this between adults and growing up with NO FATHER be this smart and seemingly well adjusted. It's a fantasy. In reality, she would feel very abandoned and need a lot of therapy. But instead the writers have her like a little adult who rolls with the punches.
