Por Amar Sin Ley – Dramatis Personae Starts Monday 3/5/18 10PM EST

I didn't change anything except grammar errors and pronoun errors that occur in Google Translate. However, I have some doubts regarding descriptions such as that of characters' ages, which I left as given. If this information is accurate we will get a few people being cast against type so this could be very interesting.

RICARDO BUSTAMANTE (David Zepeda)
Attractive lawyer specialized in family law. In his forties, handsome, kind, noble, sincere and hardworking. Partner of the law firm Vega. He is constantly guided by the laws of ethics and love and, in general, seeks to help others instead of thinking about himself. He has an excellent relationship with his ex-wife's children, Elena; and although they are not his blood sons, he raised them from very young, which is why he sees them as his own. Ricardo finds in Alejandra an admirable woman and with whom he shares the same ideals, so that soon the attraction he feels for her becomes love.

ALEJANDRA PONCE RUIZ (Ana Brenda Contreras)
Very pretty woman in her thirties, family lawyer specializing in private international law. She is attractive, kind, fair, hardworking, intelligent, expressive, and sympathizes with the suffering of others. She is the daughter of the renowned lawyer Jaime Ponce, who was the teacher of Ricardo and Roberto at the University. Before his frustrated marriage with Carlos, she worked in an office to which she resigned to dedicate herself to form his family with Carlos, but after the cancellation of the wedding, she resumed her career and it is there, where they earn the admiration of Ricardo, who asks to accept the work proposal in the Vega law firm. Alejandra does not imagine that she will discover true love in Ricardo, with whom she has in common the same ideals of justice and ethics, when exercising her right.

CARLOS IBARRA (Julián Gil)
Man in his thirties, handsome, charming, vain, seductive and expert in manipulation. He is a very bright and confident criminal lawyer. He is the star of the rival law firm of Vega. He is very strategic, always willing to move his cases before others. Always look for the way to win, personally and professionally. He wants to prove his innocence to recover Alejandra, after having been in with the stripper who ended up dead in his hotel room.

ELENA FERNÁNDEZ (Geraldine Bazán)
Woman in her forties, very beautiful, sophisticated, vengeful, spiteful and vain. Elena has two children from her first marriage, but the biological father separated from her when they were very young. Soon she met Ricardo, who she fell in love with and married, so the father who raised her children is Ricardo. Elena could not stand that the first thing in Ricardo's life were children and their work, so she often felt displaced.

LEONARDO MORÁN (Manuel Balbi)
Reserved, intelligent, serious and very professional, man in his forties. A lawyer specialized in criminal law, dedicated to his work. He is Ricardo Bustamante's best friend and he is always there to give him good advice. Leonardo is a very correct, ethical and responsible man, that is why he has a lot of credibility, both in the law firm and in the courts of Mexico City.

Leonardo is not capable of doing something dishonest or immoral, nor defending the innocence of a person but he believed it, which even judges and secretaries of agreements know. He is still single, because he has dedicated his entire life to seek justice before anything else.

ROBERTO MORELLI (José María Torre)
Hansome, charming, born conqueror, is a complete seducer that for women is often irresistible. He is a charming don juán and scoundrel who does not miss the opportunity to have a new conquest. Criminal lawyer and one of the partners of the firm Vega. He has great sympathy among his colleagues and respect for the scales. Roberto is very professional and has a sixth sense for criminal cases. He has a fraternal competence with Leonardo, because both are very good in their specialty and when they act together they are invincible.

VICTORIA ESCALANTE (Altair Jarabo)
Woman in her thirties, attractive, very strong, honest and of great presence. She is a lawyer, a specialist in family law, a feminist with a strong, hard-line character and a strong hand in cases of family violence; however, she is also very sensitive and empathic with women. She has an impressive career and is a partner of the law firm Vega. Her whole life is dedicated to work and, emotionally, she is unable to commit and engage in a loving relationship.

OLIVIA SUÁREZ (Ilithya Manzanilla)
Pretty, romantic, sweet, kind and dreamy woman. She is a lawyer, a specialist in family and labor law. She believes blindly in love, but is constantly torn between her work and the lack of time for a loving relationship. It's adorable, cheesy and funny. She gets personally involved with the cases he handles, as she finds it difficult to maintain emotional distance with her clients. She is very sensitive to others' pain and is always willing to help others. She is the most romantic of the lawyers. Dream of getting married and having a perfect family.

GUSTAVO SOTO (Sergio Basáñez)
Man in his fifties, nice, gentlemanly, kind, very professional and supportive. He is a specialist in family and corporate law. He is a very correct professional and also known for his sense of humor, generosity and contagious energy for these. Before the eyes of all is a good father, devoted husband and a man of integrity; but everything falls apart when it is discovered that he has an affair with another woman much younger than him, an error that he will have to amend to recover his family stability.

BENJAMÍN ACOSTA (Pablo Valentín)
Man in his forties, calculating, ambitious and envious. He is a specialist in civil cases and tax law, but he does not have as much talent as a lawyer and, in order to win, he ignores professional ethics. Although he is married and has children, he maintains a relationship with Leticia, also a lawyer at the law firm. In spite of his doubtful morality, feels that he deserves everything. He is the one who makes the least team effort with the others.

LETICIA JARA (Eva Cedeño)
Woman in her 30s, attractive and sensual, dresses in a daring way, because she knows she has a good body and she takes advantage of it for her benefit. She is a specialist lawyer in commercial and family law and teaches with Olivia whom she does not support, for having such a docile character. It is Benjamin's main ally and when there is a vacancy for a senior lawyer in family law, she manipulates Benjamin to influence others in her favor; but when that position is given to Alejandra, she declares herself her enemy. She is too visceral, acting on impulse and many times is on the verge of losing their cases, for not having a cool head.

ALONSO VEGA (Guillermo García Cantú)
Man in his seventies, is a respectable lawyer, serious, formal, brilliant, idealist and a legend in the world of law. He is the founder and majority partner of Bugate Vega. He has a long judicial career in constitutional law and also teaches at the University. He is an ethical man and believes fervently in the team he has formed.

CARMEN (Arlette Pacheco)
Woman in her sixties, kind, efficient, intuitive and big-hearted. She has worked for Alonso all her life and is the main secretary of the firm. She is responsible for carrying the agenda of all lawyers, who are very confident and knows the life and secrets of each of them.

JUAN LÓPEZ (Víctor García)
Man in his thirties, friendly, restless, noble, dedicated, with a good heart. He is an ex officio lawyer who has just graduated from law school, studied at the UNAM and is passionate about criminal law, so that he will be able to defend the alleged criminals who do not have to pay their defense. For the little money the government pays him, he takes multiple cases and accepts the situation in order to contribute something to his mother, with whom he still lives. He is humble, but he does not intimate with his opponents.

ALAN PÁEZ (Moisés Arizmendi)
Man in his thirties, attractive, envious, spiteful and manipulative, but he knows how to hide very well, with charms and kindness. Alan is a civil lawyer who was always overshadowed by his cousin Carlos, with whom he has had a rivalry since childhood, as Carlos won the affection and admiration of the whole family, including Alan's mother, who feels an obvious adoration and preference towards Carlos. Before all, Alan disguises with admiration the deep envy he feels for Carlos and always says that he is like his brother.

PAULA ORTEGA (Azela Robinson)
Woman in her 60s, nice, uninhibited, open-minded, attractive and elegant. Paula is the mother of Alejandra, whom she adores and urges to always follow her heart, since it is the philosophy of life that she herself leads. Thanks to her charm and charisma, is very attractive to men, who quickly fall in love with her. That's why she has had three marriages. She has an excellent relationship with each of her ex-husbands and a much more relaxed idea of marriage.

Thank you except for Carmen you have Arlette Pacheco, but that’s a photo of Daniela Romo from En Tierras Salvajes.

Guillermo Garcia Cantu (Alonso) a man in his seventies? Casting department should be fired.

Guillermo Garcia Cantu and Azela Robinson playing seemingly "nice" characters? I've got to see this!

That was a shocker that Guillermo and Azela aren’t villains. I’ll pass though because Guero Castro always bores me as a producer.

UA: I knew I recognized Pablo Valentin from "Yago" & ECLDP".

There is no way moises' character is in his thirties. Seriously no! Looks more like 40s. The casting department need <●> <●> glasses.

He’s 41. Not so bad, but Guillermo in his 70s is too much. He’s only 57. Surely, there was another actor closer to that age they could have hired or maybe I don’t know make the character more closer to Guillermo’s age if they had to cast him in the role.

The same source described Andres of CET as being 35, but he certainly didn't look it. It may have been originally planned that way but there was a conversation in a relatively early episode in which we learned that he, Damian, and Raquel were in college together. So he couldn't have been 5 years younger than they were. That's why I warned you.

Thanks, Urban.

I think they come up with "stock" ages for character descriptions before casting and just don't bother to update them afterward. I'm glad to see Guillermo Garcia Cantu again. I didn't even recognize Azela Robinson at first. That new 'do looks good on her. Here's hoping the script meets the quality of the cast.

Azela will probably be really good as
A good guy person. I'm lookin forward to seeing her character. When shes bad,
Shes good at it, almost to the point of Makin you want to reach through the Screen and Grabin her and beatin her to a pulp. Let's Hope her good guy roll is as deep as that, only in the other direction.I'll give this one a try. The characters seem likable.
We'll See.

Love Adela ... and her "luke." They usually have her all frumpi-fied, so this is a nice change. I hope she's good with bad streaks, though. The "bad" could be for when she deals with the villains.

Ana Brenda? David Zepeda? Julian Gil? I'm definitely gonna tune in for this one.
Nice to see all three of them reunited since Sortilegio where they all played villains.

Ana Brenda is in this? I didnt see her name in the character descriptions above. Is She going by another name? Point her out to me somebody. Please: )

Ana Brenda = Alejandra Ponce Ruiz.

Thank you, Urban. I might try to record this and give it a try. Cantu is always a spectacular villain. I have never seen him okay a good guy.

Azela was terribly annoying in Vino,I'm glad she's doing something totally opposite from what we're used to.
Haven't seen Basañez in a while so I'm happy to finally get a chance to watch him again

Oh, she got married and changed her name?

I've seen jaun Lopez in American stuff
Its been awhile. I don't remember the name of what I saw him in tho.

Nina, Ana Brenda will be Alejandra in Por Amar Sin Ley.

Anon: Julian Gil likely is the major antagonist.

Urban, thanks for the info.

Thus far I've had only one volunteer to recap. This series will need peeps with attention to detail because of its nature: With this many lawyers in the story there should be good dialogue to go along with their cases.

The first episode does feel a bit like L.A. Law because we get the lawyers' personal stuff going on as well, so if you were a fan of that series back in the day it looks like you will enjoy this one. The sets also look great.

BTW, GGC is in the opening episode and he does not look like a man in his 70s. However, for those who watched and enjoyed Telemundo's Pasion de Gavilanes back in the day the grandfather was in his 70s but portrayed by a 50-something actor with a good makeup job. I think the producer wanted a certain kind of energy from the character and didn't have a 70-something actor to cast. Or perhaps the producer of this one changed his mind before La Opinion published this article.

Another cast member playing against his usual type is Roberto Ballesteros, who is one of Azela Robinson's ex-husbands, the one who is Ana Brenda's father in this tale.

Urban, I believe Jardinera noted she would like to recap. I think she might have posted in on the Caer finale blog.

I've spent too many mnoths getting 4 or less hours of sleep so need to pass on this.

I appreciated your summary though Urban.

I will be recapping but without CC if Uni/Comcast cannot keep up again with the releases. Anywho, I think make up is a Hollywood and BBC trick that all in Cinema and TV are quite familiar with. I am not worried in GGC's case and relish seeing both him and AR together. I remember her as a good gal in Bajo la Misma Piel years ago. Sergio B played with SN back in Cuando Sea Mia - the Cafe con Aroma de Mujer/Destilando Amor redux/predux. Despite the negatives this cast can make it work I think. Looking forward to it.

Gracias, Jardinera.

Tonight's episode, like most premiere episodes, is a little longer than usual (almost 52 minutes). This could begin slightly before 10PM, just in case you're not already tuned in.

Ok thank you for clearing that up for me anon 2:26

Tks😁

Urban
Thank you again for putting together such a descriptive overview of this upcoming novela. As always, you gave us a interesting twist on the rotation of some of our well-liked, or not, actors from antagonist to protagonist or vice versa.
I'm so bummed!.

Unfortunately, I'll have to pass on this novela; and lately my spirit is in sure need of some Caray, Caray recaps and postings.

Ana Brenda -- I'm so sick of her already; ever since her 'goody-two-shoes' face showed up on on "La Que No Podia Amar". Then you have Julian Gill who, for some reason has gone from an gorgeous hunk to a corpse-looking guy.

And need I mention dry, emotionless David Zepeda, who's only good part IMHO, was in Sortilegio.

Please pity on me and let me know if anything else is coming up soon.

Sadly, I won't be able to read most comments about tonight's episode until after 6PM tomorrow because -- ironically -- I have to report for jury duty. At least the $40 per day they will pay me can get me a couple of more visits to Red Lobster.
