Papá a Toda Madre, Episode 48, 3/26/2018: Children Say the Darndest Things OR A Golden Egg for R&R

Fabián asks Mau if he is feeling well; so Mau responds that it must be because he is excited about starting a new phase in the factory…with him. Mau then asks Fabián if he remembers how long they have been friends, so Fabián laughs and responds “All our lives; ever since we were born!” Mau replies, “Exactly. In fact, until Anifer showed up, I considered you my only living family.” When Fabián wonders why Mau is so nostalgic and asking so many questions, Mau responds that he doesn’t know; he has just realized that he trusts Fabián with so many favors…sometimes he thinks he takes advantage of him…like asking him to take care of Maria’s burial.  (A tiny little tinker bell jingles in Fabián’s serpentine brain.) After Mau thanks him, Fabián assures him that there is no need to thank him…he has always done it with all his heart (as he concentrates really hard to not allow his tail to rattle).
At Veronica’s house, Toño is cleaning the table when Veronica arrives and asks if the kids have gone to bed. When Toño responds that it has been quite some time since they went to bed, Veronica comments that she hardly saw them in the morning; so she is going to go peek in on them. Toño tells her not to wake them because it took him quite some time to get them to sleep; furthermore, he wants her to sit down so they can talk about that infamous “break” she wants to take. Veronica points out that he was the first to mention taking a break…and right now she is exhausted and isn’t up to anything, but she does want to tell him that she will be leaving on a job-related trip during the week-end…and she wants HER kids to go with her. As Toño emphasizes that they haven’t even started the “break’ and she is already saying “HER kids,” (Clue A, Tono) Tania listens through the door as they continue to argue, then walks back to her bed as Veronica tells Toño that she does not want to continue arguing and walks away.

At Jorge’s house, Jorge is questioning the kids and wants to know if anything important happened while he was not there. After the kids shake their heads and continue eating, Jorge continues to prod and asks if anyone went looking for him…or for them, Valentina tells him, “No. No, the four of us were studying all the time.” Jorge wrings his hands and shares a thought with them—what nerve people have to lie to one’s face! (The fish are just not biting, Jorge; maybe just take a rifle and shoot into the water?) Valentina completely agrees with him, but has been thinking that she is fed up…it’s been long enough that she does everything to take care of the home and lazy Lilí doesn’t help at all. When Lilí retorts that she doesn’t know how to do anything, Valentina tells her she needs to learn…she is tired of doing all the cleaning and cooking. Valentina looks at Jorge and reminds him he has four children. Lilí doesn’t even want to be considered; it would be better if Baldo helped out. Baldo freaks and passes the hot potato to Samuel, but Samuel says he has too much homework…and the girls need to do it because they are girls! Valentina points out that women are not men’s slaves (you go, Valentina!)...and she refuses to do everything for them! Jorge has heard enough and adds that in this house of God, the girls do the female tasks. (OK, forget that fish thing, turn it on yourself and squeeze off a round!) Lilí refuses and Valentina goes on strike! Jorge thinks that this rebellious turn-around comes from some person that does not live there. When he reminds her that she just got out of some trouble and now this turn-around is going to lead her somewhere worse, Valentina responds that she is tired and thinks it’s unfair. As she tries to continue, Jorge tells her to be quiet and adds that this house is not a democracy; it is a dictatorship…and the dictator is “papá!” End of communication!

The Next Day…
Jorge exits his house and is followed by the marching troop whom he is taking to school. As they leave, Pablo comes out from behind a tree, pretends to sweep, then goes to get the note Lilí left for him in the bushes. He reads that they need to get together to plan, but not at school. Lilí is sure...they will go to the border.
At school, Laura welcomes the parents to the presentation. The first ones to present will be Neto and Tania, so they go up as everyone claps. Tania starts that the person she most admires is her mother…and Neto adds that he admires his father…they are the best parents in the world! But then…Tania adds that sometimes her parents don’t talk to each other very nicely; and Neto shares that they sometimes argue…a little. As Toño and Veronica squirm in their seats and look for a rock to hide under, Tania and Neto report that their parents fight 4-5 times…or more…per day. (Oh Shoot! Those little Angels will just say the darndest things won’t they? Haha Haha)

At Nerón’s shop, Pablo tells Nerón that he is already finished and has to rush off to work at the school. After Pablo leaves, a man walks up and asks Nerón if he can go service his car because someone slashed his tires. After Nerón agrees, the man thanks him and shares that he is a widower who now has to do everything and counts on kind people to help him. They start talking about how there are few men who know how to treat a lady and that are hard-working, respectful gentlemen. After the man turns to lead Nerón to his car, Nerón thinks this man would be perfect for Flor! (Crap Neutral, you just won’t let this Death Wish III thing go, will ya?)
In his office, Jorge is putting some papers in his portfolio when he finds Kika’s passport. (Is it there with that ‘Item’ you confiscated from Lilí? There’s your sign, Jorgey Boy.)
At the school, Anifer is next to give her presentation. Renée and Mauricio smile as she starts, “The person I admire most in the world is very special…and isn’t like any other person in the world. The person I admire most is my mother…although she is no longer here. She would hug me, take care of me, comb my hair, help me pick out my clothes, and would always tell me not to be afraid. And when I would cry, her eyes would get watery as if she were going to cry with me, but there is another person I admire most…someone who tells me I’m crazy, but also says I’m very brave and that I am like him because I know how to draw and design toys.” Mau’s face softens as he looks at Anifer with joy and pride.

Anifer finishes with, “That is why the person I admire most is many persons at the same time…he’s my father! His name is Mauricio and he is a ‘papá a toda madre’!” She then runs to Mau who lifts and hugs her as he smiles and holds back his tears. (He has a better hold on his tears than I had on mine.)

Kika is in her suite when Jorge comes by. She closes the door on him, so he knocks again. As soon as Kika opens the door, Jorge shows her the passport which Kika is thrilled to see. After Jorge tells her that she now has everything she needs to leave the country, Kika asks where he found it; so he tells her it was in his portfolio. Kika thinks it must have been when the gremlins attacked her…that Jorge might have stolen it from her, but Jorge denies it and adds that is not the important thing; what’s important is that she went back to his house when he had already told her that he did not want to see her there. When she asks which of the four kids told him, Jorge repeats that is not the important issue; what’s important is that he does not want her stepping foot in his house ever again. He does not want to see her around his house with her devilish red dress. He warns her that if she steps foot in his house, he will have to go to the police station and ask for a restraining order…end of communication!
At the school, Mau thanks Anifer. After Anifer tells him she loves him and leaves, Mau comments to Renée that it seems that Anifer does love him. When Renée responds, “And why not? You’re not that hard to love,” Mau’s jaw drops; then he smiles wide.
At Kika’s suite, Kika tells Jorge that neither he nor anyone else can threaten her; she is the only one who can make threats. Jorge then tells her not to be making videos of his daughter because she is under age and it’s against the law. Kika insists that Valentina is an adolescent who can share much about her life…and Kika was not taping anything personal. Jorge hesitates, but steps inside and warns Kika that if she uploads the video on the web, it’ll be very dangerous for Kika since he is an attorney and can do legal things…and can sue her. As they stand very close to each other, Kika threatens that Jorge will not be able to handle the attorneys from Miami that she will consult with. After she warns that it’ll be worse for him and tells him that he is like February 30th…it doesn’t exist; she adds that if he only came to insult her, he can leave. Jorge stutters as he denies that he came to insult her; he only came to return the passport. Kika stares him in the eyes (and breaks a smile because she couldn’t contain herself!) as Jorge continues that she is also like February 30th to him. He then tells her that he will now leave because their closeness is making him nervous. (And he remembers that he left that ‘item’ at home anyway?)

At the school, the presentations continue as Mau tells Renée that he still can’t believe what Anifer said about him. Renée comments that Anifer looked so strong and confident; she thinks they were more nervous than Anifer. After Mau adds that Anifer was better than the rest of the kids, other parents complain and tell him to be quiet, but Mau tells them he was only speaking the truth. Veronica whispers to Toño as she complains that he shouldn’t argue in front of the kids. Toño responds that the kids have never been present during their arguments; the problem is that Veronica doesn’t talk…she yells. As they continue, other parents shush them; so Veronica apologizes as she glares at Toño.
In the school grounds, Lilí pleads with Valentina to distract Baldo because she needs to talk to Pablo. When Valentina wonders what she and Pablo are up to and if they already (did it)…Lilí tells her to just distract her brother and she will tell Valentina about it later; so Valentina agrees. (Have they already...more like how late ARE you, Lil?)  Meanwhile, Baldo sees Pablo and pushes him against the wall as he asks Pablo what he is doing there since they already fired him.

Pablo responds that he only came to say good bye to the director who was kind enough to give him a job. When Baldo asks Pablo how long Pablo thinks it will take Lilí to forget a monkey like him, he adds that it will only take about 2 seconds after Lilí finds someone who is worthy of her. Pablo tells Baldo that he shouldn’t worry because he will soon be far away from Baldo and his family. After Pablo pities Baldo and his father who think they are superior to everyone else, he walks away leaving Baldo speechless. (Speechless should have been as in spitting out teeth!)
At the tire repair shop, Nerón is almost finished fixing the man’s tires and wants the man to continue telling him about himself. The man tells him he has his own house, but no children. When the man adds that the worst thing is to be single and alone; Nerón thinks it shouldn’t be that way since he seems to be a very decent person and is well-dressed…even sporting a satin tie. The man responds that he isn’t complaining; he will meet his ideal mate someday…someone who he can take care of and protect…a woman who is loving and nice…with a firm character. Nerón thinks they are very much alike; his own wife has a strong character. Nerón then happens to notice that he is missing a tool that he has to go buy and asks the man if he can return later. The man agrees since he works just around the corner; he can come back later and they can continue their conversation. (And that gives Neutral time to explain to Flor that he has picked his replacement?)
At the school, Valentina tells Baldo that the art teacher wants him to help her. When Baldo questions why the art teacher is asking him to help, Valentina replies that there are a lot of materials to put away; and the teacher said she needed a strong young man like Baldo. When Valentina suggests that he probably can’t handle it, Baldo agrees to go; and as he walks away, he motions to Lilí that he is watching her. Lilí then mouths “thank you” to Valentina and sends her kisses before she runs off to meet Pablo.
Nerón sits at his tire repair shop telling himself that if he were ever to be “gone”, he would die content knowing that Flor and his little piece of camphor would be well taken care of by a man like that. Just then, the man returns and reminds Nerón that they left off their conversation wondering if Nerón knew someone that would be a good match for him. When Nerón asks if he would mind if the woman had children, the man thinks it would be good to have the complete package to form a family. After the man asks if Nerón already has someone in mind, Nerón responds that when he finds her, he will introduce her to him. They then leave to finish putting the tires on the man’s car. (Neutral makes a mental note to ask if the fellow has ever been a pallbearer?)
Lilí meets with Pablo who tells her he has everything ready. They should arrive on Sunday; then she can take him to the border. She can cross the border using her passport; and he will meet her later. He has already talked to someone about crossing him over. Lilí worries that something will happen to him, but Pablo assures her that nothing will happen to him. He does, however, worry about her; if things don’t turn out right, he will never forgive himself. Lilí assures him that they will both be fine; she will be safe and he can go find her. (I mean what could possibly, POSSIBLY go wrong, Einstein’s in heat?)
At the school, Anifer wonders if Mau now knows who she admires most; so Mau responds ‘yes’ and thinks that her presentation was incredible. He gives her a bear hug and when Renée whispers to him about a kiss, he asks for another kiss from Anifer. After he thanks her for everything she said, Anifer asks if he likes being her papa/mama; so Mau tells her that’s what he wants most to be in this world. He then reminds her that she now needs to go back to class and thanks her again. Just then, Laura comes up to Mau; so Renée takes Anifer away. When Laura tells Mau that she didn’t know that Anifer’s mother had died and can just imagine how hard this is for both of them. Mau agrees that it is very hard; no one knows how hard it is to raise a child who just appears without instructions, a manual, or rules. When Laura comments that he is doing a great job, Mau shares that is the point…sometimes he doesn’t know what to do or whether what he does is right. He hopes she is right and that he is not wrong about what he is doing with the paternity issue. Laura’s light bulb flashes and she thinks she knows how to help Mau with the paternity problem. (If Mau is the next Father Laura has spoken to since Jorge, that news about Maria is probably music to her ears.)
At Nerón’s house, Flor tells Rodrigo that he can’t imagine how nervous she got…she looked pale; and for her to look pale…well, he can just imagine. She continues that no one had ever blackmailed her; it feels awful…and aside from that, the man knew certain things about her. Rodrigo explains that those criminals use the social sites on the web, correspondence, and some even stake out the victims. Flor complains about how hard people work to make money just so that someone can take it from them. Rodrigo advises her never to give out her information to anyone. She needs to take precautions and report it right away; and if this happens again, there is already a record. Just then, Nerón arrives. When he sees Rodrigo, he wonders if everything is alright; so Flor assures him that everything is fine. Rodrigo was close by; so she invited him for some coffee. After Rodrigo leaves, Flor leads Nerón to the kitchen so she can make him some tostadas. When she asks how things are going, Nerón tells her he met a real nice man…the kind that is nice, well-mannered and who make a decent living. He then adds that he is a widower, well-dressed, has no kids, and has his own car. When he asks Flor if she would like him to invite the man over so they can chat, Flor wonders if he wants chicken or pork. (Maybe DUCK, Flor, as it went right over your head!)
At Mau’s house, Anifer tells Mau that the teacher asked her if she had gone to visit her mother’s tomb, but she told her she hadn’t. When she asks Mau when they can go, Mau responds that he will take her soon; he needs to plan everything and he’ll let her know when. (And give Fakian time to make a Fake grave?) Renée then tells them that she brought ice cream to celebrate Anifer’s presentation, so Anifer goes to get it. After she is gone, Renée and Mau go to sit on the couch to talk. Renée tells Mau that she knows that it is difficult for him to listen to Anifer talk about her mother, but he should cheer up; he should do it for Anifer. When she adds that everything Anifer said about him today is a reflection of the love she feels for him. Mau shares that he still doesn’t know how to handle things…like today, for example, when Renée motioned him to hug Anifer, he wouldn’t have known what to do…especially with things that are more motherly. Renée assures him and tells him that what she admires most about him is that while he is learning to be a father, he is also being a mother. He has learned to hug her, bathe her, dress her, and comb her…although that still needs improvement. He feeds her, congratulates her, and even scolds her when it needs to be done. There are many things that should pertain to the mothers, but he is doing them well. When Mau wonders if he is a paternal mother or a maternal father, Renée tells him he is a full-fledged father who, every day, takes better care of his daughter…the way ALL fathers should be. As Mau scoots closer to Renée, he tells her that she has taught him all of that. He didn’t even know how to get close to her…he viewed her as a tiger at a zoo…and if it weren’t for Renée…Mau thanks Renée and invites her to go with them for the first production of the Papa/Mama toy. When Renée asks why he wants her to go with them, Mau hesitates and says, “As a favor. It is a very important day for Anifer and me. It will be a small event… a low-budget cocktail.” Mau scoots even closer and tells Renée that he wants her to accompany them, but Renée squirms and tells him she will let him know tomorrow…she needs to go for the cake; Mau smiles and reminds her it’s ice cream. (Probably shoulda been cake, or something that wouldn’t MELT!)

At Veronica’s house, Veronica is on the couch crying her eyes out. Toño slowly approaches her and asks her how long that break she wants would be, but Veronica doesn’t know. When she suggests a month, Toño tells her he can’t be without his kids that long. He raises his voice as he tells her to go ahead and take them for a month…and see how she will handle that. When Veronica reminds him that she took care of the kids by herself for years, Toño sarcastically tells her he feels so sorry for her and makes some idiotic suggestions. Veronica tells him he isn’t funny, but Toño retorts that he is not joking. When he tells her that the separation will only make things worse between them, Veronica admits that she knows that; and she can’t stop thinking about that and about the kids…how to tell them. (Clue B, Tono) Veronica has been thinking that both of them should talk to the kids together. Toño then tells her that when she makes that face, there is something she wants to say, but she doesn’t dare to; (Clue C, Tono) and Veronica responds that when he has the face he is making, it means he is hiding something from her.
At Mau’s house, Mau smiles as he views another tape of his father. He stops the tape and tells his father, “Papa, how are you…under the earth, right? Maybe you can help me a little; well, I know you can’t, but I can pretend to ask you and you can answer. What should I do? I don’t know if my best friend wants to betray me, if my business will fall to pieces, if my daughter is my daughter…and I say my business with all due respect. You will always be the one and only; you are the man…founder of Logatoys! But now I have to save Logatoys. How do I do that? I know you can’t answer me, but I can pretend to ask you and you can answer me; it’s just a conversation.” As he continues that it is a father-son talk, Anifer strides in and asks who he is talking to. Mau responds that he was talking to her grandfather…well, he was talking to himself. When he tells her he is going to tell her a secret, Anifer is all ears. Mau tells her he is going “coo-coo,” but Anifer insists on knowing what is going on with him; so Mau grabs her and tells her he loves her very much! When he adds that sometimes people trust those that they shouldn’t trust, Anifer doesn’t understand. Mau knows she wouldn’t understand because she is very young and knows very little about life. He continues that someday he will explain how everything works, but to make a long story short, the world doesn’t make sense. When she looks confused, Mau “rewinds” and tells her to forget what he just said. Mau continues that things aren’t what they seem, but then tells her to forget that too. He then suggests that they have a home movie night and make popcorn; so Anifer yells, “Yeeesss!”
At the school, Jorge tells Director Laura that it’s nothing serious this time. He just came to pick up his kids and he thought it would be a good opportunity to come visit her and apologize. When Laura asks why, Jorge explains that the last time they spoke, he said things he shouldn’t have said…and he regrets it, so he wants to offer an apology. When he tells her that he is sometimes impulsive, Laura smiles and accepts his apology. She understands that he is tense and stressed because of his kids…if raising two kids is difficult, she can just imagine how it is with four kids. After they sit down, Jorge shares that she can’t imagine how it is to live with four adolescents…it’s crazy! When it’s not one of them, it’s the other; when it’s not one thing, it’s another. When he continues that it’s just continuous turmoil, he is alone, and if he had his wife it would be different, Laura puts her hand on his knee and tells him she understands (and the heat rises and there is a d-d-ding, ding, ding!)

She adds that he is not the only father who has to deal with his kids by himself. When she proposes that he stop by the next day to discuss the matter, Jorge stutters and after she removes her hand from his knee, Jorge tells her that he doesn’t need classes to know how to educate his kids. Laura explains that is not the intent, but a little help wouldn’t hurt. When she asks him to consider the invitation, Jorge agrees to think about it.
Renée arrives at R&R’s (Rodrigo and Rafael) home and walks in without saying a word. R&R nervously follow her and Rafa asks her if she has a response for their request. Rodrigo calms Rafa down and tells Renée that before she says anything, they want to assure her that the decision is hers. They will not only respect it, but they also want to thank her for considering it. He is sure that many women wouldn’t even have considered it. Renée finally speaks and tells them that she has a lot of respect for both of them. They are a lovely couple; and she knows how important it is that they want a child. She thought about it a lot and…she wonders if extracting an egg would hurt. After R&R squirm and smile, Rafa asks her if she is saying yes; so Renée affirms that she is saying yes! R&R scream and jump with joy, then give Renée a big hug. (Renee, do you now need to learn how to cackle?)

The Next Day…
At the school, Jorge walks with Laura as he tells her that he feels he is very involved with his children’s education…in every aspect…human and catholic. When he tells her that they are waiting for him at his office, Laura tells him not to worry because it will only take a moment; and they are already waiting for him. As they walk into the room, he hears a familiar, “Hey, what’s up, Julian?” (Guess who-oo!) When Jorge sees Toño and Mau sitting there, he whispers to Laura that he thought this would be a private talk, but Mau tells him that he can see that it isn’t. Toño wonders if they are all being punished.
At R&R’s house, Rafa, Rodrigo and Renée (R, R&R) eat breakfast together. Rafa talks about how the real chef of the house is his monster, Rodrigo. He doesn’t know why Rodrigo became a cop when he is such a good chef. Renée thinks everything is delicious, but she has to rush off to see about her mastery program and about a job. When she tells them that she has to save money for her trip to the USA because everything is very expensive. Rafa asks if she can stay a few minutes. Renée starts to refuse, but they insist and sit her down. Rafa begins that they know that going to get her masters in the USA is a big decision…not everyone can accomplish that; and that is why the master chef has something to tell her. Rodrigo then addresses Renée and tells her that he and Rafa want to sponsor her…to support her. This would allow her to focus on her studies, not the costs. Renée refuses, but Rodrigo explains that it is only a modest amount; they are not millionaires, but they do have some savings. When Renée still thinks that they shouldn’t have to do that, Rafa adds that what she is doing for them is priceless. They just want to return the favor in some way. They will not take no for an answer because she is helping them; so they will help her. After she agrees and R&R kiss her, Renée gets up hurriedly and leaves.
At the school, Jorge continues to whisper to Laura as Mau, Toño and the other fathers try to listen. Laura tells Jorge that there is nothing wrong with talking with the other fathers. Mau wonders if she is going to scold all of them or if they are categorized as the worst fathers of the year. Laura explains that it is a meeting for all of them because it is better to talk as a group about the conflicts of the home. Jorge shakes his head and tells Laura that he doesn’t feel comfortable in a group. When he starts to leave, Mau tells him to get with the times. He is an attorney and probably thinks he will be judged, but it won’t be like that…they are in the 21st century. After Toño also encourages Jorge to stay, Laura pulls Jorge in and tells him it will be a short meeting. All the men there have jobs; and if talking helps them today, they can continue to meet once a week.
In the hall of the school, Valentina complains to Lilí that she is always telling her that she will speak to her later, but she never tells her anything. When Lilí tells her that it’s personal things, Valentina responds that the next time she wants to talk to Pablo privately, she shouldn’t ask her for help. Lilí concedes but lies that she had to end her relationship with Pablo privately. If Jorge would have seen them, he would have made a scandal and she wanted to end things without anyone getting upset. Valentina then assumes that Lilí is talking about “closing the circle” since her friend, Kika, taught her that it is the best thing to do when a couple wants to break up. Lilí agrees that is what she was doing with Pablo and thanks Valentina for helping out with Baldo. Lilí thinks that if things had been different, they could have been good sisters. Valentina thinks they still could be later. After Valentina leaves, Lilí mumbles that it is too bad that there won’t be a later. (Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky)
At the school, Laura tells the fathers that many of them were taught that they had to be the “man of the house” or the “boss of the family…the one who holds the reins.” She tells them that all of that has now changed. Without each one going into explanations, they all share a common situation…with or without mothers in the home. As Laura continues, the chair squeaks as Jorge tries to scoot his chair away from Laura. Laura tells them that they are all the head of the families and that makes them fathers who are making a big difference for their children. Jorge keeps making noise as he continues to scoot his chair further from Laura, but Laura continues that being a father is a work of love, patience and respect…they need twice that much. If they agree to attend, these meetings will help them prepare better. No one has a magic wand that will solve all the problems. If they are willing to share their experiences, they will find the answers that they need. All the fathers agree.
At Jorge’s house, Lilí is preparing her bags when she hears Valentina coming; so she hides her bag. The doorbell rings, so Valentina goes to answer the door. As Kika enters, the boys are immersed in their game. Valentina asks Kika why she is there since she knows her father doesn’t want her there. Kika laughs and wonders if Valentina really thinks she is going to listen to that dictator. When all the kids laugh, Kika knows that they are all listening. Kika tells Valentina that she has something to ask her; and she wants Valentina to be totally honest with her. When Kika asks if Valentina told her father that she came to videotape her, Valentina responds that she definitely did not. Kika then asks the others who told Jorge that she had come to make a video, but they all deny it. Kika then wonders if this is the first time Jorge finds out about something without anyone telling him…or does he arrive just in time to catch them doing what they shouldn’t be doing. (Kikameister puts two and two together and comes up with something bigger than 3.9 and smaller than 4.1) After Lilí mentions Jorge finding out about Pablo, Kika suspects that Jorge has a camera hidden somewhere in the house. The kids don’t want to believe it, but Kika insists that it is time to look for the camera…and seems to be enjoying the thought of exposing Jorge.  (Oh Boy. Evil but not stupid, Georgey Boy; you should have been nice to her Kikiness.)

Favorite scene, of course, was Anifer's speech and Mauricio's reaction...those two have come to love each other so much!

I had to laugh at Jorge scooting his chair and making that bothersome noise. Tonto looked at him as if he were passing gas...which brought to mind a saying in Spanish, "Puro pedo!" (which I suppose could be the equivalent of 'bunch of hot air' in English, but the literal translations is 'pure farts'...pardon my French! LOL) Anyway, Jorge probably thought that what Laura was saying was 'puro pedo' and was making those noises to cover his own 'air' ...at least that is something we would accuse others of doing when we were young and not so politically correct :-)

More manana...

Hah! Love picking up these new expressions, 'tho I'll have to be careful about using THAT one! Thanks for a great recap, screenshots and apt title.

And loved this quip:
Fabián assures him that there is no need to thank him…he has always done it with all his heart (as he concentrates really hard to not allow his tail to rattle).

Also the jibes about Jorge shooting into the water...or wait, maybe he should just turn that rifle on himself!

So any predictions on who Jorge will end up with? Laura or the Kikameister?

Anyway, enjoy your irreverent take-no-prisoners sense of humor and the way you write, Rgv Chick. Hope the "perros" are improving and that all is well with the goats and other assorted wildlife around your place.

Many thanks to you and the Ghost.

Incredible RgvChick. Savored every morsel.

"(A tiny little tinker bell jingles in Fabián’s serpentine brain)", "The fish are just not biting, Jorge; maybe just take a rifle and shoot into the water?" and many others were just superb.

"He has a better hold on his tears than I had on mine". Loved every second of Mau and Anifer. The proud papa indeed. “When Renée responds, “And why not? You’re not that hard to love,” Mau’s jaw drops; then he smiles wide”. As do I…

I enjoyed Jorge and Kika. Am I really saying that??? I thought they might kiss – they are both at their most appealing when they are with each other. “Evil but not stupid> Indeed…But, I like Laura too. Her hand on Jorge’s knee was not appropriate, but it sure was fun.

I would be happy if Jorge ended up with either Judy. When I read about her spearheading the search for a camera, I think Kika may have the edge. Not much he could pull over on her.

From the sweet to the sour. Neto and Tania. Why oh why do parents argue without thought or care as to whether or not their children can hear? Some of the deepest wounds are caused by innocent ears hearing thoughtless declarations and angry words they should never have had to hear. Shame on Vero and Tono. Both.

Now to the silly. Ahhh Neron. Enjoy your lovely wife and beautiful daughter. You are not going anywhere – for now.

To the ridiculous, Pedro and Lili. What on earth could possibly go right with their plan??

Screen shots were AMAZING. You made this so much fun RgvChick.

Thank you!

Diana

RgvChick, what an enjoyable read! Your commentary always makes me smile. Thank you!

Judy, you are so funny, too, : “the Kikameister”!

Diana, “what on earth could possibly go right with their plan??” Was perfect. : )

In spite of the unsavory possibilities, I hope that Lili and Pablo make it off the bus and across the border. I am ready to leave the cul-de-sac and Logatoys. A new view would be nice. Maybe it depends on the show’s budget . . . I liked that Valentina and Lilí have started to become friendly.

Two best scenes: Jorge with the principal’s hand on his knee. Jorge like a big kid all pretzeled up in his seat but not being able to sit still with, of course, the resultant noise. Good call, RgvChick, on what it sounded like.

Nerón is getting to be a bore. His depression has lasted too long to be entertaining and I am here to laugh.

Wow RGV superb. I enjoyed every word. Thank you so much.
I know it is just the canine coming out, but Dr. Laura sure had a lot of chest showing at first. She's about one trip to Macy's short of being hot. While she is there she could stop by the Native American booth and pick up the left side feather earring.

Jorge is a dufas. EVERY time I see him I wonder who the biological Father of his kids must be. I can't even imagine him having sex alone, much less with a woman.!

OK Renee it goes something like 'Cluk cluk cluk clu-KAK'. I always wondered why chickens must announce the arrival of a newly laid egg that way. Somebody told me that it is chicken for "Ouch !"

It appears to me that Vero knows it is pretty much over and is waiting for Dim Bulb Tono to see the light rather than sit him down and make him cry.

Renee and Mau on the sofa and the ice cream/cake was too funny. And yes, if the ice cream had been in that room it would be melted.

Rulli continues to impress me. Did anyone catch that little sound effect he made while talking to Anifer when he said 'rewind' and made the noise of a tape recorder playing the tape backwards at high speed? That takes a helluva lot more talent than turning those puppy dog eyes on some honey and saying Te Amo..............

And thanks again Chikie You are a barrel of fun.

"Jorge like a big kid all pretzeled up" - I grinned ear to ear Jarifa!

Kirby, your avatar is just lovely.

"Did anyone catch that little sound effect he made while talking to Anifer when he said 'rewind' and made the noise of a tape recorder playing the tape backwards at high speed?". Yes, I did (for once). My thought is that Rulli is much more than a pretty face. I think comedy is something you can do. Or not. He can...

Diana

Diana, Rulli is impressive. He is far more than a heart throb as he has been in most of his work. Acting ability only goes so far, and he has much more than that.

I get the feeling that we are seeing a bit more of the actual day to day Sebastian here than we have seen in the past. Even with Anifer, there has to be a little something there, you can't pull it off with just acting.

Kirby: Make Fabian GREAT AGAIN!

With the Eagle, I wanted to get a shot directly under him, looking up, but he had just eaten and I didn't have an umbrella, so I took this shot as near as I dared.

:-)

Fabian is going DOWN..................

Where's RGV's shovel?

I also get the impression that Vero wants to end it, but I don’t see why she refuses to talk. I don’t think she cares about his feelings, it’s more like she wants him to end for her and not seem like the bad one. She doesn’t accept that she’s posing issues for the family too. Also, if she’s always busy with work, why bother taking the kids away from Tono during the break period? He takes care of them fulltime, why should he lose them completely while she’s barely going to be there for them?

It’s nice that Valentina and Lili are getting along, but Lili’s just being fake. This is the second time Valentina has called for equal treatment and Jorge just continues to give Lili the free pass. Why can’t she learn? Does she really think that Pablo is going to do everything for her when they cross the border? Her love story bores me. She’s mostly leaving to escape Jorge and from learning to do any chores. If they succeed escaping, Pablo’s going to get charged with kidnapping a minor.

At least Mauricio knows how much Anifer loves him. But if he doesn’t reveal that he’s not her father, is he going to lose her respect again?

I thought that Flor was purposefully ignoring Neron’s conversation regarding the man he found for her. Seriously though, Neron’s thought process is worrisome.

Maia

Sorry, I meant that Vero wants Tono to end it for her so that she doesn’t seem like the bad one (to herself and the kids).

Maia

Good Morning! Thank you, JudyB, Diana, Jarifa, Kirby and Maia for stopping by and starting the conversation going.

JudyB, "So any predictions on who Jorge will end up with? Laura or the Kikameister?" I think Kikameister (good one!) will try to woo Jorge, but only to get what she wants from Valentina. Once she gets that video going, she'll drop him like a hot potato. Laura seem to be a more appropriate partner, but I get mixed messages from her in regards to Jorge. There are times that she seems frustrated with him, then there are times that she is very touchy-feely with him...but then tha may just be the way she is with everyone.

Diana, "Why oh why do parents argue without thought or care as to whether or not their children can hear? Some of the deepest wounds are caused by innocent ears hearing thoughtless declarations and angry words they should never have had to hear." Well-stated. Your words of wisdom add so much to the patio.

Jarifa, "Nerón is getting to be a bore. His depression has lasted too long to be entertaining and I am here to laugh." I with you on this one. He needs to get over it and enjoy life.

Kirby, "It appears to me that Vero knows it is pretty much over and is waiting for Dim Bulb Tono to see the light rather than sit him down and make him cry." I must agree that Vero probably knows it is pretty much over, but she is having a really hard time adjusting to her new role as provider...which she seems to really like, but is feeling very guilty about not spending time with her kids (and not so much so with Tonto). I also agree with Maia's comment that "if she’s always busy with work, why bother taking the kids away from Tono during the break period?" What will Vero do with the kids when she is at work...working late and going on trips? Vero is just not thinking clearly. SHe wants to make everything right, but has no idea as to how to do it.

Kirby, "Rulli is impressive. He is far more than a heart throb ...Acting ability only goes so far, and he has much more than that." I've never seen Rulli in anything else, but I do agree that he is doing an amazing job here. He can portray any feeling and convey his thoughts with pure expressions...truly impressive!

JudyB, my perritos are back to normal...spoiled and demanding attention...and food, thank God!

Maia, "Vero wants Tono to end it for her so that she doesn’t seem like the bad one (to herself and the kids)." I think you're right. Vero is too busy to try to work at her marriage...she's looking for the easy way out if she allows Tono to end it.

Maia, Vero's wanting to take the kids with her would usually be so they can meet their step Father candidate and he can see what he is in for and they can give HIM a thumbs up or down. That's how it is in real life.

You know, I'm no fan of Jorge, and less of a fan of how he has been until the Twin's Mom died. BUT Lili could be in a group home for orphans right now and things would be a helluva lot less rosy for her obnoxious, abrasive, selfish little ass. She has some painful lessons in store.

I feel sorry for Pablo in what she (Lil) is doing to him. Hopeofully he is still a minor and would not be charged as an adult.

Good morning, patio.

Chickie, I am especially appreciative of your recap and screencaps because I missed this episode.

I loved the photo of the R, R, and R hugging. I am surprised that Renee will be okay with someone else raising her biological child.

Teaching 101 : Never touch the students or their parents. Inappropriate...and dangerous ..Laura.

I am surprised that Jorge's kids are not taller. My friend's grandson is 6' at age 14 , and his dad is only 5' 10".

My parents did not get along, so I know what that is like .

" surprised that Renee will be okay with someone else raising her biological child."

I smell a rat. I am thinking Mauricio will not be OK with it, if he and Renee DO get together, as it a forgone conclusion they will. Think about it. Then any of their offspring would actually have a half sibling running loose. It would be the same as if Renee and one of the boys had been together and she got preggers as far as children and biological kinship is concerned. Reminds me of a company I worked at once where I told them they should always do their org charts in PENCIL.

Teaching 101: I think Laura is just a loose canon.

Good morning everybody!

Rgv Chickie, thanks again for another excellent recap. I love the commentary!

I think Nerón may just be on the way out. Not necessarily due to his health, but Flor might just kill him when she realizes what he is now up to. Nerón is a bit too true to life. Too often when we should be happiest we are not, because we are doubting and fearful. A shame, but all too human.

Georgey Boy's hormones should be at max flow right now. He goes from Kika the Wicked Witch to Laura the Good Shaman, and then back again. Kirby, "Dr. Laura sure had a lot of chest showing at first." Yes, she did. I was wondering if it meant anything when she covered up a bit with that flimsy shawl(? what would it be called?) while talking to Georgey Boy, but then the hand on the knee...
"Her hand on Jorge’s knee was not appropriate, but it sure was fun." Very definitely, Diana!
So I'm rooting for Laura! Very definitely, Laura. But maybe Kika. No, Laura. Possibly Kika...

:-)

Agree with poor Pablo having to deal with Lili. She has a lot of attitude, and her accent doesn't help. I think Pablo is at least 18 because other than him being an illegal immigrant suspect, no one has taken an interest in him regarding his age. At the very least child services would have taken him off the street first if he was underage. He also just seems older.

I think Jorge ends up having his own story with Kika. She just doesn't seem to fade out from our screens. I get the feeling that Dulce's going to come back when life with her narco bf gets complicated.

Rene may have accepted donating right now, but how will she feel once she's at the office undergoing the procedure? She can still back out.

Maia

"Her hand on Jorge’s knee was not appropriate, but it sure was fun." Very definitely, Diana!
So I'm rooting for Laura! Very definitely, Laura. But maybe Kika. No, Laura. Possibly Kika...

I'm with you Andy. I suppose both would kill him, so a choice DOES need to be made sometime along the way.

I think Laura would be much more fun/satisfying in the long run, but Kik is the one you'd want to brag to your buddies about and maybe have a few pictures. Wait ! Jorge has no buddies.

I didn't know what to make of the hand on the knee. I kept thinking WWWD
What Would Weinstein Do?

Thanks, Rgv Chick. Your recap was on fire. Loved all your quips. I missed watching last night, but feel like I was right there. Great pics, Pablo looks like he could easily crush that bony Baldo.

I don't blame Lili for taking a hike. Jorge is insufferable, but I hate that yet again someone is running out on Valentina. Maia, I too wish Lili would be straight with Val, since Val helped her with Pablo.

So Renee the virgin (she is a virgin, right?) is going to give her first-born to R&R? I guess she didn't read my comment that this doesn't just entail loaning her uterus. Hmmm, will she ask for joint custody?

I've never paid much attention to Tono and Veronica, but still I don't want them to break up. They've both behaved badly, so I figure they cancel out each others' errors.

Yay, Kika figured out there's a camera.

Cynthia, I hope you are feeling better with each new day and look forward to your return.

Niecie, I never got the impression that Renée was a virgin.

Cynthia: I hope you're feeling better as well & we're all looking forward to your return.

Jarifa: I never though Renee was a virgin either.

"Too often when we should be happiest , we are not because we are doubting and fearful"

Wow, Andy, I am writing that down .... so true. No wonder I love stopping in here every day for all the pearls of wisdom from all you lovely people. I haven't been getting here as often as usual because I am getting ready for Easter and guests.

Judy...today I was dancing to Hall and Oates " Your Kiss." What tunes were you dancing to?

Stupid Cupid for one, Susanlynn. Pretty apt! given what our telenovela is up to.

Andy Banda you aren't just a philosopher, you're a good mimic: Your
So I'm rooting for Laura! Very definitely, Laura. But maybe Kika. No, Laura. Possibly Kika...

Was perfect. Lordy! sounded just like staccato Jorge's speech. Way to go.

I also loved the physical humor of Jorge's discomfort at the Papi Therapy group. Plus of course he was way too tall for the chair. But oh, the squirming and the longing look at the door like he couldn't wait to get away. Didn't know what to do with his feet either which were too big and longing to get away also. Exremely funny physical comedy as was Mauricio's amorous scooching.

Jarifa and Rgv Chick, can't take credit for Kikameister. Rgv Chick used it in her recap and I liked it. As some basketball coach said recently, "I steal anything I can that I like".

Yup, that's me.

I may be naive, but I think Toño and Vero really love each other and will work this out. Verbal battles are dreadful for children to listen to. But it's when parents stop talking to each other at all, that you have to worry.

Indifference is the real opposite of Love.

I may be alone in feeling a little sorry for Pablo. He is a good kid, is not afraid to work, at about anything, to make money to go find his Father, and seems to have the best of intentions.

His plan, based on hard work, perseverance and longing to find his Father was going well until Medusa showed up. Then it was Pablo who was not in a reaql hurry, wanting the first time to be romantic with Lil like "Aw pfooey on that, here is a nice comfortable looking spot on the shoulder of the road. Get to work big boy." And bark.

And that innocent high school romance has morphed into something which could be pretty messy.

And he was even nice enough to not turn all ninety-seven pounds of Baldo into a heap of Band-Aids when Bald-Chest went all macho on him.

Kirby , I like Pablo, too, and I feel sorry for him . I hopeo he has a happy ending. He is one of the few characters I can stand in this show.
Sometimes people think that big guys can take care of themselves.

Great commentary from everyone, thank you! I echo Susy’s sentiments that there are so many here who share their pearls of wisdom. Andy, I am so glad you found Caray, you add so much to the conversation. I always look forward to reading your comments..

I’m on the fence about Renee being a virgin, but leaning towards the not a virgen sincevshe practically ran into May’s Bedroom that one time....though they didn’t get far. So if she is still a virgen it’s because of her notorious indecision.

Niecie, I don’t want Tono and Vero to break up either. I too think that they both still love each other, but they need to accept how their roles have changed and they need to communicate better.

Kirby, in a way I do feel sorry for Pablo for the reasons you stated, but he doesn’t seem to think things through. For someone who has been taking care of husked fornquite sometime, he is diving into a pool without knowing its depth....I hopeo he doesn’t hit bottom.

JudyB, I must pass the credit to Ghost for ‘Kikameister.’ In fact many of the quips you quoted were added by Ghost; so thank you Ghost for making my recap so much more entertaining!

Cynthia, I too hope you are quickly recovering. If you stop by, please let us know how you are doing.

“Husked fornquite??? Where did that come from??? That should be “himself for quite” some time...

Husked fornquite???

My My My your phone has been chatting with Susy's tablet 'Diablo'.

I vote for Renee being a virgin. I think that her mother was very protective of her , and Loopy probably only got to first base, and then, he was tagged out trying to steal second.

"I may be naive, but I think Toño and Vero really love each other and will work this out". I totally agree Judy!!

And yes, I feel for Pablo a bit Kirby. I think he is yearning for a family. And love. But I rather wish he had looked elsewhere! Jorge is a monumental obstacle.

What a wonderful, supportive community this is RgvChick. Great, generous conversations.

Diana

So Anifer is not Mauricio's, but until we see her preferring lizards and frogs to Girl Scout Cookies we can't be sure she is Fakian's either.

Anytime Veronica makes those half eyed expressions at the husband I think of Pepe Le Peu. That hair doesn't help!

I think that Renée is only contributing eggs, and then Rafael and Rodrigo will have someone else carry the baby to term. I think they want to guarantee that the offspring is smart and carries the genetic material of someone they like and admire. The eggs will probably be in-vitro fertilized and stored, sort of like how some women with cancer manage to have children even after treatment.

SpanProf, yes, that is exactly what Renee is doing, donating an egg. R&R had wanted her to carry the child too but they know she wants to go to the US to get her masters so they settled for just the egg.
