Papa a Toda Madre, Capítulo 67, Friday, April 20, 2018; Noel tells Fabian that Renée is his sister!

We begin with Maria having a little talk with Mauricio concerning their own relationship. She tells him that Anifer told her that things were over between him and Renée and wants to know if there could be something in the works for the two of them. He says “no” because the truth is, he still feel a lot for her and needs to talk things over with her. In fact they do have a lot to talk about.  She reminds him that Renée isn’t here now, but she (Maria) is quite available. He apologizes and says he is sorry. Maria says, “Well, that’s okay, you don’t really have to explain.” Then she walks away. Mau then tells her he has a meeting with the cooperative and he won’t be long.

Meanwhile at Logatoys, Falcon and Fabian talk about Mau’s talents. But Fabian couldn’t care less about whether Mau ends up with Maria or his cooperative. Fabian says, “I won’t rest till Mauricio bites the dust!” Then he puts his feet up on what used to be Mau’s desk. Falcon makes an important observation though and says, “Why is it that you want to compete with Mauricio so much? It’s almost as though you want to BECOME Mauricio.” Fab just brushes it off and sends Falcon to check on production.

Renée gets to make her presentation in Spanish at the University of Maryland concerning children with disabilities and presents the service robot, “Charlie.” When she finishes, she asks how soon they will make their decision and thanks them.

Toño and his mom talk about why she wants a divorce. No he didn’t lose respect for her, beat her, or get drunk with the guys and take off for a few days. “No, I simply got up one morning and realized that that I have been living many years with a many I hardly know. I’m so tired of everything and I have found that even the walls are more considerate of me than he is. I just can’t stay with him anymore.”  Toño goes to him his mom a hug and she pushes him away because he will spill her coffee.

Mau meets with Jorge and they talk about life. Mau says he seeks a life that could be familiar and boring—like Jorge. And Jorge says, “Thank you! That is just fantastic.” Jorge then asks, “Well what is going on with Renée?” Mau responds, “Renée is trying to find herself and her life. She is trying to clarify her priorities.” Jorge pretty much asks him next, “Well does Maria turn you on?” To which Mau says, “I’m not made of ice you know. Maria is pretty, intelligent, and she is the mother of my daughter.” Phone rings! Whose phone is it? Oh it’s Jorge’s phone and who is calling? Mau picks it up and teases Jorge that “Chickibu” is calling! Jorge tries to get around it, saying it’s work, but Mau just laughs at him and teases. Then Mau says, “I’ll meet you later outside for the cooperative meeting.”

At “La Cachetóna” Nerón is scolding his employee about the monies coming in. Guess this employee is not good with numbers nor does he know how to write. Pablo is with Flor and she asks him how she looks but he tells her she doesn’t look that good and she gets angry. Then she tells him she feels terrible, doesn’t feel like eating and hurts all over. She goes to lie down and has a little tantrum.

Rafa comes home from delivering some puppies who all lived. He finds Rod on the internet checking out adoptions work for same sex couples in the United States. Rafa is still not sold on adopting Jorge’s grandchild because it will be nothing but trouble. Rod says they need to make some decisions.

In the cooperative meeting, Mau mentions that he thought giving Logatoys to Fabian would satisfy him, but it hasn’t. “And unfortunately, the problems that Fabian and I have together are affecting our cooperative.”  They go on to talk about women with Nerón mentioning that Vero is a good woman and Toño must have done something to affect the marriage badly. “I was a very good husband and father!” says Toño. Then Jorge says, “When women are all wrapped up in their jobs, the family falls apart.” Mau says, “Renée went to pursue her dreams, so our relationship fell apart.” “Exactly” says Jorge. “We are the husbands, we are the ones who should be in control.” Then Tono and Nerón mention how Dulce left Jorge with the kids, and now he has two more kids…Jorge dejectedly says, “I’m a very bad father.”

In Maryland, Renée and Ariel are talking and she gets a call from the university. They want to meet with her now. She runs to meet with the committee. When she gets there, they tell her that the mistake with theirs only. Renée is very happy to hear it, telling them, “I’ve worked so hard for this.”  They tell her, “Welcome to this university.” Renée is thrilled. Then they tell her that they cannot guarantee a place for each one of the candidates—one of them being her new friend Ariel.

Maria and Ani are at the market. Maria buys a few things and reminds Ani she has to watch whatever money she has because she doesn’t have a job yet but will be looking for one. Ani wants to know if they are going to stay there and Maria says yes. Then Ani wants to know if she and her father are now “novios”.

During the cooperative meeting, they finally get down to business with Jorge announcing he does have some money to invest. And so does Nerón. Mau is very happy to find out about this.

After the meeting is over, Mau tells Maria that with Nerón’s and Jorge’s investment, they will be able to begin production. Maria offers to make a celebration dinner. He thanks her for everything. Then Ani walks in and asks Mau if he and her mom are “novios”. He tells her that there are a lot of things that have to be ironed out, like things with Renée. Ani announces to him that if he and her mother don’t become novios, she is going to leave and take her back to their town. [What a manipulator! Maria just told her at the market she was planning to stay.] Mau tries to explain that he and Renée are really still together and things are just complicated. “Look, I just can’t change women the way I change socks. We have to wait to see what happens and whatever happens, will happen. But no matter what, whomever I’m with, I am always going to be there for you and that will never change. You can stay with me forever.”

At Logatoys, Falcon comes in and tells Fabian about the designs that his father did, will they be manufactured? He also wants to know what they will do with the license regarding the mama papa dolls. Falcon wants to know why they don’t manufacture them, but Fabian says no under no circumstances. He wants to come up with something original that will surprise Mauricio and everyone.

Jorge is meeting with Kika and they cuddle with their clothes on. She seems to want to “get it on” but he puts her off with the fact he has so many things on his mind. She offers to help, but he tells her no because he does not want to mix romance with business. They talk about his daughters and Kika asks if he has a good relationship with Lili. He says he does, but the one who worries him most is Valentina. Kika offers by saying, “Well you can leave Valentina to me!” But Jorge says no, because “she’s my daughter and I want to decide how to proceed with her life. I don’t know how to do it, I was raised very conservatively by my parents.”  Kika tells him it was the same way in her family and changes the subject to, “I would like you to meet my mother and my sister. When can you do it?” You mean you have told them about me?” “Of course I have,” says Kika. “I have told them on a daily basis what is going on with us and about formalizing our relationship.” Jorge looks shocked!

At the Barrientos home, Tono’s mom gets a phone call. It’s bad news, it’s her sister calling to tell her that her husband is in the hospital. She is going to go back to Sonora.

Maria meets Flor and introduces herself in the gazebo outside the Privada homes. Maria notices a bruise on Flor’s arm and tells Maria if she ever needs anything, to please call her. [Maria must be thinking the bruise is from abuse and of course has no idea it’s from leukemia.]

Renée and Ariel talk again and she tells him that one student may be displaced in the program. She asks him if he is angry and tells him that if she had only know that defending her project would risk anyone else’s place, she never would have opened her mouth. She even offers to help him with his presentation.

Fabian is in his father’s “toy room” and is looking over the various figures. Noel walks in and says, “What are you doing here?” Fabian holds up a figure and wants to know why this on looks just like Renée. “Is Renée my sister?” Noel responds, “Very well, you asked so I’ll tell you. Renée is the daughter I had with the only woman who loved me all her life. Fabian says, “So now what are you going to do? Adopt her? Include her in our family gatherings? Whatever, I am not going to allow Renée to come and claim what is mine!” Then he breaks the figurine by breaking off the head. Noel becomes angry and hits Fabian over the head with his cane and Fabian falls to the floor. He gets up and continues breaking up the figurine into pieces.

Jorge and Rod with Rafa have a little run in at the gate with each of them honking their horns to move out of the way. They argue about who goes first and Jorge says, “I’ll let the ladies go first.” Rod gets up and wants to hit Jorge, but Rafa holds him back.

Maria is fixing up Ani’s hair then gives her a hug. Ani wants her mom to give Mauricio a kiss. Maria gives him a kiss on the cheek, but Ani demands more. She says, “What’s the matter mom, haven’t you ever kissed a man before?”

While Renée helps Ariel with his project, he phone rings and it’s Mauricio. She tells him things have become a bit more complicated and it will be another two or three days over there. In the background, Ariel calls out to her and Mau can hear him over the phone. He stops for a minute and Renée asks if he is jealous. He says he is not, but he sure sounds like it! They have a little argument and hang up. She comes back over to the desk and Ariel asks if that was her boyfriend.  Renée says, “I don’t know anymore. Things are so complicated now who knows what will happen if I have to spend two years out here.” Then Ariel gets up, tells her, “the time will fly by and you cannot even imagine what might happen.” Then he kisses Renée! She gets angry with Ariel. He apologizes and says he doesn’t know what happened to his head. She tells him she is done helping, it’s over and is returning to Mexico! As she leaves she says, “Good luck!”

Maria is putting the “little matchmaker” daughter to bed and Ani is making up stories about what her father allegedly “told” her. “He told me that he and Renée are just friends, and he really likes Maria very much.”

Toño returns home from taking his mother to the airport. He mentions that tomorrow is his first day at work, Vero tells him that since he is working part time, that he can do the same thing that she used to do, taking care of the children after work. Toño says, “no problem, that’s a piece of cake. I just don’t want the children to worry about their grandfather being sick.” Vero asks, “And you, how are you doing?” Toño tells her that he spoke with his brothers and that they are going to pick up their mother from the airport and take her to the hospital to see their father.” He goes on and laments about his parents with their problems. Veronica shakes her head and says, “Yes, this is very difficult.” They go on and talk some more with it going back to their problems. Veronica finally says, “You and I are not together or getting back together. What’s more, I think it’s time that we just lead separate lives.” Toño looks dejected.

Veronica goes to her new job the next morning where she is being shown around. She is told that Fridays are “casual”. Her new boss tells Vero that they hire a lot of women and says, “Look, they are just like little ants.” He also says something about the women need to fulfill their obligations as a mother and a wife.” Then he tells her, “Do you want to see your new office? It’s near the restroom because I know ladies like to be near a mirror to fix themselves up.”

At school, Neto and Ani talk about divorce. She tells him that most divorced couples live far from each other in fact in different cities. She also admits how she lied to Mau and Maria concerning that he mother wants to be her father’s “novia” and how much her mother “likes” her father, so that they can stay in the same place together and she can live with the both of them.

Veronica gets shown to her new office. It has a beautiful view and she is just getting settled in. Someone knocks at the door, he boss answers. Her boss presents her with her new assistant, Toño! Veronica looks mortified….

Well, Thank You Cynthia. Reading your snappy recap one would never know what you are going through as you soldier on to give us our translation of this craziness. Crazy in either language, though.

In Anifer's defense, I submit that kids are by instinct very selfish. I believe it is a built in survival instinct which programs them to look out for number one. What Anifer really wants (for herself) is a stable, loving family with her Father and Mother. That is hard to argue with, so do I. Renee is cute as a button, I wish her the best of luck in her travels far far from Mau and Anifer finding herself. But something that lost may never be found. Ironically, she is probably better off with some distance between herself and her Father and Brother. Yuck ! As in don't stand too close to a fire ant mound, you know?

I am surprised Jorge can walk with those things that way. Banging Kika seems to have given him cajones the size of pumpkins, as he is ready to mix it up with HotRod. ? ? ? ? How many question marks does that need.? Count your blessings Homophobe Hombre, if things were different Kika would be shagging HotRod, not you. From a straight guy's perspective, we wish Mau were playing for the other team too.

Tonot<-------------->Vero-------yawn. Who'd a thunk it.zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Kika, Kika. When she is bad she is BAD. But when she is good, she is Helluva good. "Well, yeah, Georgy Boy, we talk about you every day." I know there is little truth in this, but my Grampa always said, "If you see two hens talking, they are talking about a rooster." Have we ever seen Cait and Kik talking about anything else? Had a real Hee Haw with Mau busting Jorge over Kika calling with his Kika Boom, Kika Boom boom, and his little cheer. Very realistic view of the way guys really are. Like "The secret Life of Actual Normal Guys".

Wow. Was not expecting that!..Vero and Toño working for the same dinosaur macho boss...interesting.

And I was quite struck by Abuelita's lament:

" I’m so tired of everything and I have found that even the walls are more considerate of me than he is."

I think that is what is at the root of many unhappy marriages--BOTH partners feel unappreciated. The love and affection, the appreciation and support, which flow so naturally the first few years gradually begins to dry up. Before long spouses are keeping a catalog of the other's faults rather than their virtues. [Except for our lucky Susanlynn and Hub! But that's another story. You go guys!]

Along with the end of episode shocker, I was appalled at the Machiavellian (and uber sophisticated) snares that Anifer is trying to set. Seems creepy and very inappropriate. Although perhaps a reminder that children, like adults, can be very selfish and disloyal. Renée has been a mother to her all this time that Maria was away...and now Ani is kicking her to the curb! Wow. Just wow.

Wonderful recap Cynthia. Appreciate the screen caps, the "red reactions" and the smooth writing.

Forgot to add Mauricio is clearing growing up...saying "I can't change women the way I change my socks." Back in the day, he certainly could and did! Glad to see he's a little more committed now.

Judy, but Anifer never forgot her Mom while Renee was filling in. Now that Mom has resurfaced, Anifer no longer needs her surrogate, bye. Makes perfect sense in KidWorld. If kids were not the way they are, half of them would never survive the shit many grownups put them through.

She is being a shrewd little manipulator, but this is a 7 year old toy designer. The sharpest knife in the drawer.

I laughed at "Haven't you ever kissed a guy before?" Like No, Ani, your RealFather and I never kissed, it was very clinical.

Did you notice Noel even has a model of the cul-de-sac, complete with the gazebo and the correct color paint on the building?
Good Morning.

Kirby: Did I just hear that Renee is Fabian's sister ?

Cynthia H – I’m so glad you are improving and feeling strong enough to post a recap. Thank you!

”Toño goes to him his mom a hug and she pushes him away because he will spill her coffee.”
This really bothered me. Why would she reject his hug, because really, that is what it was. I would have moved the coffee and gone right into a hug from my son!

Jorge mouthing “for-ma-li-zing?” was a hoot.

Too bad Noel did not hit Fab again, and again, and again, with his cane. Just sayin’…

And no, Kirby, I did not notice that scale model of Renee’s house & cul de sac. Creeeepy! ( good eye for detail, KJ)

I could not stand the condescending behavior of Vero’s potential boss.
Toño as Vero’s assistant. Um, no.

The look on Mau’s face when he heard Ariel’s voice was right out of SNL’s “The Californians”. ;-)

” Very realistic view of the way guys really are. Like "The secret Life of Actual Normal Guys".”
Awww, I miss “The Man Show.” lol

Hope Renee doesn't join #MeToo after Ariel's kiss. Hey girl, he's cute and sortof a hottie. Love the one you're with?

OK, maybe I think too much but consider:
Noel, Fabian's Father claims that Renee's Mom was the only woman who actually loved him, her whole life.
Fabian appears to be older than Renee
Noel blames Fabian for "killing" his wife in childbirth.

Then:
Noel's wife, Fabian's Mom was already dead when Renee was concieved.

Then:
Why didn't he just marry her and problem solved.

Anifer's manipulations kind of sort of made me think of "The Parent Trap" without the twin or divorced parent. Children, as a rule, are fairly narcissistic. Probably for survival. They are taught empathy and compassion by their parents, for the most part.

Doris, you and Kirby both make good arguments for Anifer's machinations. Case closed. Next!

Kirby J - You've got the timeline right. Good question about Noel/Renee/et al. Perhaps it would not do for Noel to marry a mere secretary? Someone from "a lower class"?

Judy :-)

Good morning Cynthia, Judy, Kirby, doris and Steve. Good morning lovely vision in pink.

So, first things first. Cynthia, another superb recap replete with your fantastic signature screen shots.

"Rafa is still not sold on adopting Jorge’s grandchild because it will be nothing but trouble". Yes, go with that instinct. Please.

"Jorge dejectedly says, “I’m a very bad father.” Yes. And calling Rod “senorita” was adding insult to injury. What happened to your appreciation when Rod helped rescue your runaway daughter?? You climb and then you fall. Grow up.

“Do you want to see your new office? It’s near the restroom because I know ladies like to be near a mirror to fix themselves up.” Charming. And the actor always seems to play an unappealing character as this seems certainly destined to be.

I think many romantic relationships survive (even sometimes thrive) only as the result of very hard work. Committment, dedication, kindess, consideration, give and take and communication. Love is usually a factor as well. You might dig deeper, give and forgive more when strong emotions are involved. Unless I've missed deep declarations of love and yearning, Renee and Mau have a very small foundation from which to build. They became friends but I'm not convinced they ever left the friend zone. Sometimes solid frienship can work. I'm not sure it will here.

Renee is the type of woman to wait by the phone while Maria will make the call and set a date. To his credit, Mau seems invested in Renee but I'm not sure there's enough to keep him there. Maria is coming onto Mau openly and it's obvious she doesn't think Renee is any sort of impediment.

I'm disappointed that Anifer has so quickly forsaken Renee. "...Alhough perhaps a reminder that children, like adults, can be very selfish and disloyal" said it all Judy.

Yes! Parent trap doris. Conniving little Hayley Mills. Great.

Kirby, perhaps Renee is better off - far away from her monstrous father and brother. Her lukewarm romance is not enough reason for her to stay.

I also enjoyed the Mau/Jorge scene.

I felt sad seeing Flor so sick.

I am hoping the writers have fun with the Tono/Vero work pairing and go for laughs rather than simply supplying another platform for them to bicker.

"Did you notice Noel even has a model of the cul-de-sac, complete with the gazebo and the correct color paint on the building?" No Kirby. What a sharp eye you have.

Cynthia, thank you, thank you.

Diana

"To his credit, Mau seems invested in Renee but I'm not sure there's enough to keep him there."
Exactly. His pants aren't bursting out in flames (thank you KJ) when he kisses Renee. Ho-hum.....yawn.
There is more fire between Vero & Toño than these two.

Excellent, Cynthia. Thank you.

Too funny:
Verónica being Toño’s boss at the new job. They cannot escape each other.
Jorge mouthing: Formalizando. (Formalizing his relationship with Kika) no escape for him. Ha!

Unbelievable:
Renée was going to stay a few more days to help a guy she barely knows? Too naïve.

Psycho time:
Noel was sure fast with his cane. So Fabián got physical abuse and emotional abuse as a child.

Understandable:
Esperanza has had it all of these years feeling ignored. Not all relationships are meant to last a lifetime.

Predictable:
Anifer wants her mother and father to be together. Since It looks like Mauricio is going to end up with Renée, I predict she will end up with her mother.

That is all for now.

I wouldn't even really consider Maria a candidate for Mau, but the polls are rigged. Mau and Anifer are pretty darn close. That can be a huge incentive for Mauricio. He and Renee are not exactly Scarlett and Rhett, and Maria is not exactly a consolation prize. She has great shoulders, you know?

Does Renee still have Loopy's number?

BTW the admissions board said next semester, didn't they? I was under the impression Renee had traveled there to try to enroll and start classes. Next Semester? How long is that?

"Understandable:
Esperanza has had it all of these years feeling ignored. Not all relationships are meant to last a lifetime".

Well said Jarifa. Well said.

Diana

Speaking of shoulders, Maria and others, I think the "cold shoulder" look has been around for a while.

I actually remembered that in La Malquerida, Acacia went to visit Esteban in jail at the end, sporting a cold shoulder top. I referenced it in what I think was my last recap which was in January of 2015.

It seems to have taken a while to catch on.

Diana

True Diana and Doris, but since this is a feel-good comedy, I'm predicting that Esperanza will reconcile after learning that hubby is in hospital (because he can't live without her). Woeful spouse will beg forgiveness for being a macho schlemiel all his life and will vow to do better, like his macho schlemiel Toño is doing!

IIRC, Renee said she would only be gone to Maryland for a week, and then coming back to back to Mauricioland. So there is time to resolve the out of country study.

Oh Boy, Plenty of time for a 'Family' reunion. Family as in La MAFIA.

Good Day, Everyone! Cynthia. great recap and awesome screenshots. You are an amazing woman to continue recovering and provide us with your usual excellence. Thank you!

I completely understand Anifer being her selfish little kidself, but I STILL DON"T LIKE IT! Maria should have given her a firm "No!" or "Stop!" but then we all know Maria probably enjoyed it and appreciated what Ani was doing. That's all I have to say about that :-)

Noel seems very schizo and is obsessed with manipulating everyone and everything. In a previous episode, Falcon alluded to his mental health, I wonder if Noe got to the point of being committed. Renee was very lucky to have been raised away from from him. Kirby, I agree that Renee is much better off staying away from her "La Mafia"...and even from everyone else. I would wish that she would start a new life in the US, but we all know she is somehow supposed to end up with the so-called galan of the TN. (Memories of VEA flickering again).

Kirby, it was my understanding that Renee had only gone to Maryland to straighten out the mess with her name and keep her slot for the master's program. What I didn't understand is why they are going to make the other three candidates defend their projects again.

Jorge has been have his good moments (thanks to Kika) but boy he can really revert to his old self up really fast.

Flor's condition seems to have deteriorated quite quickly. I din;t like how Maria was looking so suspiciously at those bruises Flor has.

Thanks, Cynthia. Terrific job. Hope you feel better with each passing day. Creating this fabulous recap for us while you recover is so sweet and inspiring. Have a great day.

Ya'll have given realistic reasons for why Anifer's doing what she's doing. But still, little girls should stay out of grown folks' business and right now I'm sick of Anifer. Mom and Pop, especially Mau, need to shut down her busybodyness.

Renee sure hit the lottery in a bro and dad (not!). Kirby, thanks for doing the math. That's right, why did crazy pop marry Renee's mom since his wife was already dead? Poor Renee's mom, turning down that real nice guy Renee hunted down for this loco.

Wow, Tono will work for Veronica. I see them re-lighting the fire.

Jarifa, your prediction about Ani staying with Maria in the end is probably right on target....if Maria survives Fabian.

...why didn't crazy pop

Cynthia, thank you so much for this great recap. I am continuing to send out good vibrations for your complete recovery))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Wowee wow !!! The patio has really been chatty this morning!!..I loved all the smart and snappy comments.

Doris , the original "Parent Trap" was one of my all time favs. I used to watch it from time to time on TCM, but they do not show it anymore.

Speaking of shoulders....I watched The Rock on "The Graham Norton Show" last night. Wow...sitting on a sofa with normal sized people...now those our shoulders.

Kirby...I think most college semesters run about 13 weeks.

Sunny but cool here. Have a good weekend , everyone.

Jarifa....you still think that neither Fab nor Maria will survive leaving Tia Renee to adopt Ani, marry Maury...voila...happy family.

Kirby..I did not notice Crazed Noel's model of the cul de sac. Does he make those models himself? Creepy.

Yum yum, the Rock!!!! Love that guy. Don't watch his movies but always perk up when he's on an ad holding a gazillion tires.

Hey, great idea! have him come to work for Nerón's vulcanizadora. That would bring in a lot more customers of the female variety I can tell you!

Judy, temporarily distracted from getting everything ready for birthday dinner

Jarifa...sorry..that was supposed to be "I still think...."

Judy, what's for birthday 🎂 dinner ?

Trying to multitask while posting here.....focus.

"why they are going to make the other three candidates defend their projects again. " Who among us can understand those cray cray Gringos?

"..why didn't crazy pop" read what I meant, not what I said.

Shoulders
So how are cold shoulders like a Titmouse?

Cold shoulders never actually look cold and a Titmouse is not a mouse, but a bird.

Tenderloin, sour cream mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon, Greek salad, "crudités", homemade strawberry ice cream and yellow cake with chocolate frosting (with a pinch of cinnamon and coffee to intensify the chocolate flavor).

Gawd, just exhausted thinking about it!

Judy (preparing to vacuum stupid dark green carpet that shows every speck of lint!)

Oh and gravy of course. And deviled eggs. In short, a real cholesterolarama! Luckily we live near a hospital.

The Rock, Huh ?
Let's all pray the favorite Son in Law doesn't get the slice of cake with the pantyhose in it.

:-)

Great job. Thank you, Cynthia.

Mauricio should have definitely answered with a resounding "NO" when Anifer asked him if he and Maria were novios. His, well ...umm.... don't concern yourself with this subject ...just leaves it wide open for Anifer to interpret (and spread the word) things as she wants to.

Did Jorge borrow money for the coperativa from Lili and Baldo's trust? He was looking mighty suspicious and uncomfortable the other day when he was going through the paperwork. Is that why he considers himself a bad father? Up until now, he's been thinking he knows best. Being a lawyer, maybe he found a way to get past whatever protective restrictions were placed on the trust fund. That would be horrible if he did that.

I don't think Noel ever meant to be end game with Renee's mother. I noticed he said, "She was the only woman who ever really loved me" and not, "She was the only woman whom I ever really loved!"

Glad you brought that up. I wondered about that too as he has said several times that SHE loved HIM. But he has never mentioned that he loved her.

I almost got the impression that he says it as if she loved him and he wished he had loved her back, but didn't.

Either way, he and his son just need to die. Where's DaniLowIQ?

"In short, a real cholesterolarama! Luckily we live near a hospital." - - - BwaHahahahaaa!!!

Looks like Jorge will use the kids' trust money for the co-op, thus creating more drama when they are eligible to cash it out and, whoops! it's not there!

So, anvils for:
Fabian
Noel
Maria

Kirby, "I almost got the impression that he says it as if she loved him and he wished he had loved her back, but didn't." Actually, Noe did say that (or something very similar) when he first told Fabian about the house he had in the cul-de-sac and that the woman who loved him most in the world lived there.

Anonymous...oh. Yes, that is an interesting distinction that Noel said she loved him and not that he loved her. Perhaps he was incapable of loving someone even someone whom he knew truly loved him. How😢sad

Judy, that sounds like quite a delicious dinner. It reminds me of Sunday dinners at my parent's farm. I do not cook much anymore.

Doris, you can add Falcon, Juan Perez and Dulce to the anvil list :-)

We can send Yoli to Andy or Kirby; I'm sure she'll get the anvil they can gladly provide :-)

Yeah, send her over here. I'll take Yoli out and feed her to the sharks.

Unless she can convince me otherwise

Somehow or Another

#allthingsarenotmonetary

#isthatanounoraverb.

Anvil list:

Fabian
Noel
Maria (although she is not a real "baddie", just inconvenient)
Falcon
Juan Perez
Dulce
Lupe (if he shows up again)

Nopis, have to hang on to Maria, inconvenient though she is. Just can't countenance taking a mom away from child...(with the exception of the heartless Dulce)

JUdy...so then , Ani stays with mommy, and Maury and Renee start their own family ...after she gets her master's ????

Yep, and Maria and Anifer live nearby. And Maria has a new beau. And everybody gets along like a house a-fire.

Judy...ha....I see that you're are a fan of happy endings like I am !!! 😁😊😄

Sounds like a good ending to me, too!

Perfect! All in the (Extended) Family :-)

BUT an anvil doesn’t have to mean the person dies or goes away. Can we just have her completely put off by Mau?

...even if it’s just long enough for Renee to wrap that chain around Mau :-)

And what did Yoli do to deserve an anvil.?
And second question: Do you think she floats?

Yoli does not deserve an anvil.
Yes, she floats. #built-ins 🎈🎈

Maria will come off the anvil list. She really has not done anything bad. Yet. Lusting for Mau does not count. Nopis. Just means she is alive and not blind. lol

Thanks. I was going to say, if Maria gets an anvil my Man Crush may get me in trouble.

:-)

Susy: ".I did not notice Crazed Noel's model of the cul de sac. Does he make those models himself? Creepy."

Well, skulking around in there with only Fabian for thirty years pretending to be dead gives a crazy old fart a lot of model-building time.

Good evening, everybody! Cynthia, thank you very much for this excellent recap complete with screenshots and comments. Great fun reading :-)
When you can, please let us know how you are doing.

So Fab and his dad are both total nut jobs. How far back does the evil planning go? I don't think it really makes sense for it to be in the planning for as many years as it must have been. Sometimes I have to remind myself that TN writers are omnipotent. If they say gravity stops for a second every night at midnight, it does. Just don't be on a mountain top at midnight.

If they say that Esperanza the Spitfire has been ignored and underappreciated by her husband all these years, then she has. I guess.

When was Vero job hunting? Did I miss that?

I'm going to have to get a little Virgin of Guadalupe thing and light a candle for Flor.

She has been slipping out during the commercials and looking on Help Wanteds on Craigslist.

Rgv Chickie, "We can send Yoli to Andy or Kirby;"

Send her to me, Chickie. I have it on good authority that Kirby is saving himself for Esmeralda Pimentel, in tight jeans or otherwise.

:-)

Vero and Tono's new boss is an old fashioned ("la familia as todo - forever; and, "ladies need to be near the bathroom to put their makeup on") - just wait until he learns they are soon-to-be-exes! They'll both soon need to start looking for yet another job!

Well, I really don’t think Yoli deserves a bad or deadly anvil, I just wanted her to pay some penance...maybe washing Kirby’s vehicles or boat. I don’t think Andy has mentioned vehicles, but I’m sure he would find some household chores she could do like washing windows, mowing the lawn...

:-)

Wax on, Wax off.

:-)

"Washing Windows and mowing yards is hard work, I've dressed appropriately, Andy."

Now where's that bucket?

For me, the only ones deserving anvils are Noél and Fabián. The rest are just flawed but not truly evil.

RATS. I was kinda looking forward to Anviling Esmeralda. No wait. Oops nevermind.

Good morning, peeps. It was actually warm enough yesterday to get out for a walk . Sunny 🌞 out today, too, so another walk.

I do not want Maria to die, but if she is alive, Maury cannot be Ani's daddy and they are truly daughter and father the way they have bonded. We will have to wait and see.

Couldn't she live nearby like (but not) an ex and Mau and Ren still be together? It would be like a lot of kids parents except Mau and Mar just skipped a few steps.

Kirby...yeah, okay. I just do not know how Renee will feel about Maria being so close . She seems to be putting the moves on Maury. Well, it will all work out in the end. 😜

Kirby, love your latest photo.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I’ve been quite busy yesterday with a meeting in the morning and then my granddaughter’s 1st birthday in the afternoon. By the time I got home, I was exhausted. Thank you also for all your well wishes, I am feeling better, but still have a feeling of exhaustion and need a lot of rest. A piece of my cornea is damaged from the eyelid not being able to blink and my ophthalmologist is threatening to sew my eye shut! Yikes! So I’m wearing a moisture patch on my eye and putting in eye gel drops religiously. I have started physical therapy for my face and so I get to do a lot of making faces at myself in the mirror. 😉

Thank you to my fellow recappers too! I never did get to comment last week to tell you what a fabulous job you are doing. So to Jarifa, Alfredo and RGV Chick, please excuse me for being AWOL.

Okay, now for my comments on Friday’s episode: I am confused because I saw Vero quit her job, but I didn’t see her look for another job or get hired by this other place. And I guess Vero or Toño don’t talk to each other about where they are being hired to work! Seems to me this is one of those “small talk” things between a husband and wife. “Oh so you quit your job? So where did you put in your applications? So where are you interviewing?” Or…” I got a new job! I’ll be working at the XYZ company as an IT Manager.” “Oh really? I interviewed there too. I’m supposed to be the assistant to the IT Manager. You think…..????”

I am getting really tired of Anifer’s precociousness. I guess no one teaches her not to meddle in the lives of adults and to mind her own business. They treat her like an adult in a child’s body. I prefer child characters who act like children with a child’s feelings. I liked Diego from “Ramón” and “Bobby” from “Vino.”

So will Renée finish her master’s program or what? I’m glad she didn’t let Ariel get away with popping that kiss on her.

I too, am wondering how Jorge came up with the money to invest in the cooperative. I hope to God he did not take it from his children’s trust!

As for Lili and Pablo, I am surprised that they decided to give their baby away to Rod and Rafa. This is not like giving away a puppy to a good home. I don’t think Lili understands the seriousness of this decision of sentencing her baby to a life deprived of a mother’s love, a mother’s understanding, and a mother’s touch. Lili herself feels lost without her own mother since Yuri died. If she would stop to think about what she is doing she would have not made this decision. I hope that she and Pablo change their minds on down the line and decide to keep their baby and raise it themselves. But they both need to grow up first. And yes it can work. I know a girl I went to high school with. She got pregnant in her sophomore year. She got married to her 18 year old boyfriend. It did work, they loved each other and had more kids. They are still married today and have been married for 45 years.

Cynthia, I know what you mean about Anifer. She seems to think: "Well, Mom, if you don't already have the details of this stuff which affects me (for at least my next ten years) worked out BEFORE I was born, let me pitch in and help you a little." I still do not blame her but I am not very objective.

Cynthia, nothing to apologize for. I am so glad to hear that you are on the mend. Sending good wishes your way as you continue the arduous task of healing.

Jarifa, Thanks. Like suspended animation.

Cynthia, I am so glad that you are improving. Listen to your doctor!!!

I also know girls who got pregnant in high school, married the daddy , and are still together . I guess that it depends on the circumstances and the people involved. It helps to have a supportive family . Everyone has to keep what is best for the baby in mind.

Kirby, that is an amazing photo.

Thanks. 50% luck 50% camera And a very cooperative bird. :-)

Cynthia, please take care of yourself. I am very appreciative that you took the time to do this despite your trying to heal.

Am sending many thoughts and prayers your way.

I too hope that Lili and Pablo reconsider and decide to keep their child. They have many who will support them as well as Lili's stubborn father who I suspect will become a doting grandfather.

Diana

Kirby, your shot is incredible.

I'd say 75% talent and a 25% for the cooperative subject.

I'm speechless.

Diana

Kirby - ITA that is an amazing shot!

Thanks. I'll pass it along to the bird. :-)

Monday, Monday...

Kirby, thank you for the pretty picture. The bird pictures are nice too.

Rgv Chickie, thanks for thinking of me when you were deciding where to send Yolanda for her penance... um, I guess.

:-)

andy

Oh, wait! I get it now, the housework would be the penance. OK.

:-)

Don't remember which Caraymate said this earlier (sorry!), but I agree Lili and Pablo don't have the emotional distance for an open adoption where they'd see their child growing up with someone else. Rafa got on my nerves with his whining for a baby from his or Rodrigo's loins, so his accepting adoption is a good move in my book. I'm sorry to see him get disappointed again, but I see Lili and Pablo changing their minds.

Rafa gets on my last nerve. OK if he were born 'that way'. I give him that, and may he make the best of it. But if you were born with a missing leg, for instance, somewhere, you finally give up on growing the missing one.

RE: Yoli: Andy I had taken it that you were the administrator, if you will, to see that that little Yoli Brat learned her lesson. You may need to get her some more durable work clothes. But what do I know.?

I had thought some actual work clothing would be best for Yoli. But I wonder, are these made by the same 'Dickies' people who make uniforms for the UPS drivers?

I agree Kirby, Rafa’s whining was very annoying. Some things you have to understand that you will give up if you are “born that way”. I like your example of a person born with one leg. You just live with it and accept the reality that you will never have two natural legs. You may have an artificial prosthesis, but a natural leg will never grow, so you just accept things as they are and not force the issue or ask for a transplanted leg. Even a transplanted one would never be the same as being born with a real leg.

Thanks Cynthia. Maybe sometimes life has a cruel way of teaching you that it is not fair, and you don't always get what you want. Go see some of those kids down at St. Jude's if you don't believe me.

My heart goes out to them, RifRaf, not so much.

See?------------------------------------------------------------>>>

Just stopped by to read the new comments. All very interesting, but the one that really jumped out to me watching was " Rodrigo's loins." Thank you, Niecie. I

Sunny and warm here...spring at last ?

Watching???? Thank you , tablet

"YO, over here guys. I found that guy with the camera."

".spring at last ?"

Bait and Switch I'll betcha.

Enjoying the bird pictures Kirby. Our sunny, pleasant morning is now a cold rainy afternoon but plants are growing like they really think Spring is on the way.

Judy....still sunny 🌞 here at 5.20pm. Yay spring. Bring it .

Did anyone catch how Fabian's mother died? I thought I heard Noel say that she died in childbirth giving birth to Fabian.

Cynthia, yes, Noel blames Fab for his mother's death in childbirth.

I'm just laughing at Susy. It is above freezing for a day and she already has the spring/poolside toenail polish warming up. Optimism Anifer would find hard to beat.

Thank You JudyB, glad to contribute something. With the Eagles gone for a while, I'll photograph a Moth if it flies by now. :-)

#desperate

Bright pink. Not to mention...Flipf!ops, capris. #fullycommittedtospringflinging #bringit

Yeah, Cynthia a few eps ago Noel told Fabian that he would have preferred Mauricio to him as a Son, because Mauricio didn't kill his Mother coming into this world.

We were all wondering if Noel's wife was dead when he and Renee's Mom made Renee, (Fab appears to be older than Ren) why Noel didn't openly court Renee's Mom, as she supposedly Luuuurved him more than anyone.
FOREVER........apparently to her grave.

But then the old fool may have been as cray cray back then as he is now. Has it dawned on Renee that her Mom is full of surprises now that she is dead? BTW did Renee not ever press her Mom for answers to any of this sh_t growing up, or as a young adult?

I had to pry what little I wanted to know about my bio dad out of my maternal GrandMother, bless her heart. I got that ironed out as a Freshman or Soph in college and put it to rest forever. Renee, I don't know, she is a little flaky.

#bringit

I KNEW it.

I was just outside giving the truck it's spring Air Conditioning tuneup.

Kirby...yes, family secrets. My dad's parents divorced when he was very young. He went to live with his maternal grandmother , her second husband, and her two sons ( a few years younger than he was.) When we were teens, he told my sister how his grandmother bought buggy whips to whip the boys until the seller found out how she was using them and would not sell her anymore .He felt unwanted . His mother remarried. My step grandfather was not much of a father or grandfather. I know very little about my dad's bio dad . I remember my dad ignoring him as he did his chores when he came to the farm once. He was tall and had a white crewcut . He sent my sister and me necklaces from Disneyland once. All I was told by my mother was that he was from England and came here to work in the silk mills. He had a last name that is unusual and has a Viking heritage. We have a family coat of arms. I guess all families have mysteries.

Oh my...buggy whips. That was the style in those days. My father's father used a buggy whip on him. And my mother only escaped because she was the last of 10. But the others all got whipped.

weSusanLynn, yep. There are not many Ward and June Cleavers around, back then or now.
I used to hear rumors about how my Grandpa btutally beat his sons, (my uncles) as I was growing up, but had my hands full avoiding my own and never dug into it.

I think famalies were just as dysfunctional and messed up long ago, if not more so, they just didn't talk about it and didn't have FarceBoink like today.

Buggy whips? I remember my Loony Mom decided to use MY OWN bull whip on me one day when I was about a teenager. I actually overpowered her and took it away from her. I remember telling her if she was set on my needing punishment I'd gladly help her pick out a nice peach tree switch, but the whip was off limits. By that time I was already plotting my escape, and felt independent. :-)

Where'd that extra we come from?
Sorry

Hey, back to our show, they sure seem to have Flor fading fast. Is she doomed? Or are they playing with us, only to resurrect her off her deathbed with a misdiagnosis which looks like Leukemia but is only severe indigestion?

I was under the impression Leukemia was much slower. One of my neighbors supposedly (according to her children) had leukemia, but didn't know it, as she had directed her kids and doctors to not tell her if it was something fatal. She, BTW was 96 years old, and died peacefully a couple months ago. A sweet sweet sweet lady.

She still drove herself to the grocery store, but after the boys at the store putting her food in her car, she would call me to get the milk and water and other heavy things out. She weighed about 88 or 89 pounds.

OK, there, an even hundred comments Screech Owl taken at night with a flash. Tree in my front yard.

Kirby....I think you meant "weeSusanlynn"...,that's what Jamie calls me..in my head.

As to Flor, I hope that the writers do not kill off this spicy, young mother.

Yeah, you should hear what Yolanda calls me.

'Sit'
'Bark'
'Rollover'
'Shake'

"Quit it! Are you crazy?'

:-)
Showtime
