Papa a Toda Madre, Capítulo 72, Friday April 27, 2018; The Sins of the Fathers….create generational messes….

We begin with where we left off yesterday as Renée and Noel continue to chat about the past and the “whys” of what happened. Noel did not realize that Anifer was really HIS granddaughter. But at this time, Renée decides it’s better that she leaves, but Noel stops her. He says, “You say you came to see about your house, but I think that you really came to find out what my relationship was with your mother. In truth, we weren’t really lovers. But if you would like to find out more, please come tomorrow at the same time.” Renée responds, “I’m just not sure that I really want to know the details of your relationship.” She gets up to leave.

Mauricio is reading the newspaper regarding announcements on the new product line at Logatoys. He is pretty upset about what this new line really is and because they will no longer produce what the previous designers and owners once produced. Mau is livid but Maria tells him to pay no attention to it as there are much more important things to think about. He gets up goes toward the door and says he is going out for a while. As he heads towards the door, Maria picks up a framed photo of what appears to be of Mau, Renée and Anifer. He asks her, “Does that photo bother you?” Maria says, “No, this is your house.” She looks at him and says, “Aren’t you going out?” Mau says, “No, not right now.”  Maria says, “Well, whatever. Hey, get in a better mood!”  Mau just slaps his head and says, “What oh, what am I doing?”

Renée, now at home, answers the door. It’s Ariel the male friend she dumped last week telling him, “Good luck’ after he gave her and unwanted kiss. [I am surprised she so readily let him in] Anyway, Ariel is there basically to apologize because he didn’t want to leave things hanging the way they were when she left. He tells her that, “Now that we are going to be school companions..” Renée then exclaims, “You mean that they accepted you?” Ariel responds, “Now I am in the Master’s program for Robotics.” Renée then happily congratulates him and invites him in to sit down and have a cup of coffee. Ariel tells her that she has a lovely home and that the “Privada” is really nice too. Renée then says she will ge the coffee, but Ariel insists on making it himself because coffee is his specialty. So Renée leads him into the kitchen.

Jorge is on the phone with a prospective employer. On the phone he remarks that he’s not complaining, but the work seems very simple in relation to the salary they are paying. Before he hangs up, he thanks them, saying he is very grateful and that they will be in contact. He hears the door open and Baldo comes in. Jorge asks, “Baldo, what are you doing home at this time?” But Baldo just looks at Jorge and says, “And what did you do with the money that my mother left to me?” Jorge looks like a deer caught in the headlights.

Someone else is at the door at Renée’s house. It’s Mauricio. He wants the chance to talk things over and starts to say she is the one thing in his life….but is interrupted by Ariel’s “coffee’s ready! Oh excuse me, I didn’t know you had company!”

Baldo is quite upset and understandably so! “And how do you expect me to act, now that I found out that you have taken away the only thing my mother left to me!” says Baldo. “Baldo” says  Jorge, “I had to think about making a very complicated decision that would affect the future of the entire family. But I didn’t spend the money on myself, I invested it and that is different.” Baldo says, “You are just a thief. And you know what is worse? That you robbed your own children.” Then Lili walks in and says, “What’s going on?” Baldo says, “Ask your father. You need to check out your trust account at the bank.” Lili turns to Jorge and says, “Why?”

Back at Renée’s house, she introduces Mau and Ariel to each other and explains that Ariel is a coworker in her Master’s program. Ariel says, “Mauricio, your novio, right?” Both Mau and Renée both say after one another, “ex” to correct Ariel. Renée then says, “is there anything I can do for you, Mauricio?” Mau answers, “I just came over to talk about the lawsuit (demanda) you received, but maybe I should come back another time.” Then Ariel says, “Don’t worry, I’ll go so you can stay and talk.” But Renée says “No, no, no, please stay.” So Ariel goes to sit down. Renée says, “About my house, there is not anything new, but I need to tell you something else that is important. Noel said that the robot designs were not Don Bosco’s but Noel’s. Fabian says he owns all the rights to the designs. Mau says, “What is it with Fabian? Everything is about ‘mine, mine, mine, mine, mine. Just like a little kid. Don’t worry. I’ll help you with all that.” Mau keeps his eyes focused over on Ariel and can’t take them off. So Renée is like, “Hey! I’m talking to you” trying to get Mau’s attention, but Mau won’t quit staring at Ariel jealously. Ariel offers to get Mau a coffee, but Mau says yes and Renée says no. Mau looks at Renée and says, “Is the coffee good? I think I will try it.”

Kika and her sister Char get back from their shopping excursion and then talk about Kika getting into Jorge’s business and helping out. But then Kika remarks how difficult Fabian has been acting with her concerning Logatoys. She wants to come up with a plan to rid herself of Fabian. “Do tell me,” says Char. “What is going on in that crazy blonde head of yours?”

Fabian gets home late to his father Noel and says, “Is everything alright, Dad?” Noel starts with, “It doesn’t matter whether you get home early or late. The problem is that there is no family to come home to, no children or anything. What you need to do is close that factory already!” Fabian then says, “Give me a new opportunity. We are developing a new product line and we are working very hard at it.” “Fine” says Noel. “It’s your business now. One day you’ll be coming to me asking about what to do there.”

Still over at Renée’s house, Mau sits and makes himself at home. He first says, “Nice weather we are having”, but Renée getting a little impatient then says, “Look if you have nothing more to say…” Mau interrupts her saying, “I do have something to say. We are making he biggest mistake of our lives.” He starts to explain why, when they are interrupted by Maria at that door. “I’m only here to tell Mau that I am going to pick up Anifer from school right now and he had said earlier he would accompany me to pick her up. But if this is a bad time…” Mau then says, “No, it’s not, it’s a perfect time. And this coffee is just horrible!” So Mau and Maria take off.

At “La Cachetona” Pablo exclaims that he has found his father’s address in the United States. Nerón is thrilled for him. Maria’s contacts helped him get in touch with the Guatemalan community.

Jorge continues to try to explain to his children why he took their money and invested it. He tries to tell them it isn’t for himself. But they aren’t buying the explanation. “Yes, you say it’s for your cooperative, but that’s really for you” says Baldo. Jorge promises to repay the amounts with interest, once the investment pays off.  “Well” says Baldo, “I don’t know about my sister, but I am going to report you to the authorities as a thief!” “Wait” says Jorge, “I just really want to beg your forgiveness from the both of you. [Neither of them appears to be in a forgiving mood and I don’t blame them.] Lili says, “Jorge, do you realize what you have done? You took money that wasn’t yours! What right did you have to do that?” Jorge hangs his head down and replies, “I had no right. But I did this with the bests of intentions.” Still the twins are not buying this apology and they walk out. Jorge looks up and prays to God. [Well maybe God will forgive you, but don’t expect your kids to forgive very soon.]

Ariel and Renée talk and he advises her that although this is very difficult right now, regarding her relationship status, it’s all going to get better once she goes to Maryland and gets into her work. He offers that they, once they are up in Maryland, go hang out together as friends only, he assures her. “Well”, says Ariel, “the least I can do is try to distract you and take you out once in a while.” Renée agrees and says, “You are right” and smiles.

Jorge goes outside looking for Baldo, but Baldo is hiding not wanting to be found. Pretty soon Flor comes out of her house and sees Baldo sitting by himself looking very sad and invites him in for coffee, or agua fresca, chocolate. So he decides to accept her hospitality. Flor starts to ask him about his mother and asks what she was like. So Baldo gives a physical description. Then Flor asks if his mom ever wore a wig and Baldo says she refused to wear one when she was ill. Flor doesn’t blame her and says that the wigs can be difficult, itchy and move easily. She then excuses herself to go adjust it. Baldo gets up, looks briefly over to the bathroom where Flor is and sees her bald head.

Lili finds Pablo at “La Cachetona” and she tells him about what her father did. He tries to tell her to be forgiving and think about the fact that Jorge was trying to do something good with the investment. He pleads with her, knowing that Jorge has insulted him previously, but says that Jorge is responsible and to give him a chance to pay back the money. Lili still isn’t buying it and is still angry. But Pablo give her his good news about finding out where his father is in the USA and Lili is happy and wants to go with him to find his father. They talk of plans to go to the USA together and Pablo says that Lili can go with her passport and visa and he will go over the border illegally as a “mojado.” Lili can’t wait to meet Pablo’s family.

Kika is over at Logatoys discussing her “plan” with Fabian including her own office there. She says something about investing hundreds of thousands of dollars into it. Fabian likes that idea and of course he is charmed by her promises, especially the promise of $$$ into Logatoys.

At Mauricio’s place, Mau asks Anifer what she wants to be for the theater production. Ani says the teacher wants them to write about what they want to be. Mau suggests that she be a pirate. Maria suggests that she be a female soldier. But Ani wants to be a princess. Maria is not for this princess thing as she believes princesses are classists, passive, and basically useless. Ani disagrees with her mothers, says she wants to be a princess no matter what her mom says.

Flor continues visiting with Baldo telling him she is a little rattled but “here I am, strong, not looking like an ugly doll, and crying.” At this time Nerón comes home and says, “Oh look, we have a visitor. It’s the kid whose hormones are raging.” Baldo starts to leave, but then turns and says, “I have something I need to settle with you. I really want to apologize for the way I previously behaved when I first got here to the privada.” At this time Flor steps up and says before Nerón could get anything out, says “Hey, it’s all good and all is forgiven. Don’t worry about it anymore.”

Jorge goes to Kika and confesses what happened regarding his investing his children’s trust fund monies. She offers to lend him the money to get him out of trouble with his children, but he does not want to mix up his relationship with business. Jorge says he has to figure this out on his own. He wants to be able to enjoy his relationship with Kika as a romantic one, not a business relationship. Then Kika has an idea: She says what if Jorge asks for a loan from the cooperative?

Mau and Maria get into a little argument/discussion on Ani’s choice to be a princess. Mau says, “Can’t you just let her be what she wants?” Maria says, “I just want Ani to face reality.” Mau later says, “Is this about Ani’s choice to be a princess or is there something else going on here?” Then Maria gets direct and wants to know if he would like to have the opportunity pair up with her, “yes or no?” He’s a bit surprised, but he finally says, “yes.”  He tells her she is a very special woman. Maria says “Special how? Like a Martian special?” He tells her about her good qualities and also she is the mother of the most wonderful little girl in the world. He mentions Renée and will have to explain to her and Anifer about their new relationship. A few minutes later they move in for this kiss….and then Ani walks in interrupting the moment…but Ani wants some help with her project. So when Maria sits down with Ani to help her, Mau has this vision of Renée having done the same thing with Ani in the recent past. He hits his head not wanting to think about it.

At the adoption agency, the administrator is looking through the paperwork that Rod and Rafa brought it. She makes a remark about his having such a high risk job and a child placed with a father with a high risk job might not be a good idea. Rod, frustrated asks, “is this the authorities’ idea or is this your opinion?” She says, “All I’m saying is that all these things have an influence on the final decision. Now where are your letters of recommendation? I don’t see them here.” Rod doesn’t’ understand because he thinks he wasn’t told about it. But the administrator says, “Yes this is a requirement that everyone applying for adoption must turn in letter of recommendation.” She says too, she will get them the paper with the instructions. She says, “Please come back when you have this completed.” Rod is angry and accuses her of prejudice against them. Finally they leave with the rest of the paperwork.

Back over at Jorge’s house, Baldo makes some disparaging remarks to Lili about brining Pablo in the house, saying his presence will stink and if he comes in, Baldo is going to go far away. Jorge then says “Nobody is going to run away from this place. Do I make myself clear?” Jorge also makes a remark to them about being mature, Lili says, “Mature as in accepting that our own father stole money from us? That kind of mature?” Jorge tries to explain again and they need to have a little patience with him. Baldo says, “The only thing you ever do is yell at us and scold us and now you steal from us?” Jorge says, “If I don’t treat you well, I am sorry and ask your forgiveness. Tell me what do you want from me? I would like for us to all get along well and be a family.” As he goes out the door, he says, “I’m sorry.” Again he sighs and says, “I’m sorry. I love you. I made a mistake, I’m sorry.” On the other side of the door, Baldo just shakes his head. Jorge continues to say he is sorry but the siblings aren’t very ubnderstanding. [Neither would I!]

The next day Renée meets with Noel again. She wants to know more about what happened with her mother and himself. Noel observes that photo of Catalina. Renée thinks that her mother and Noel were lovers as an extramarital affair. Noel explains that no one loved him like Catalina did, except maybe his wife. Renée listens to his story of how he got involved with Catalina and how he became and alcoholic after the Logatoys fire. He goes on to say if it weren’t for her mother, he would be alive, maybe Fabian too, because she watched Fabian a lot, but Fab was so young he would remember that. He also recounts how one day he got violent with Catalina and she never wanted to see him again. Noel knows she was right to do that. Then he found out that Catalina was pregnant but he wasn’t interested in being a father and had no plans for further fatherhood. She was merely an accident that happened one night. He then gave her his home from “La Privada”. One day when Renee was four years old, he was going to meet her. But he got scared and didn’t keep his appointment to see them and just didn’t show up. Noel said, “I had this idea about being a family, but I changed my mind. From then on, Catalina never spoke to me again.” Renée wants to know about Fabian and why he decided to be a father to him. She has lots of questions for him concerning Fabian, but he asks her to come back again the next day.

Mau and Maria talk about how they can hack into Fabian’s system to find out some information. Then they discuss what they want from one another leaving Mau a little confused.

Jorge is on the phone speaking with his new employer. He’s done the work and he is grateful they are happy with it. But will they be willing to advance him some of his salary? Yes, it seems like they are and Jorge is very happy about this. [Hmmm…I wonder if Kika & Co. is behind this?]

Veronica is holding another birthday party at work in the breakroom. But the big boss is not happy about this at all, because they are supposed to be working, not celebrating birthday parties. The boss wants to know if Vero is done with her work, she says she can have it ready in 30 minutes. But this is not good enough for him, it should have been done yesterday. He also wants to know whose idea it was to have these parties and Toño takes the heat for Vero, saying it was his idea. He calls both Vero and Toño into his office, reading them the riot act. He wants some specific work done by TONIGHT and no, will not allow Vero to take home the work and do it there. It must be done and the office ready for presentation to clients in the morning. Toño is also told he must stay late to complete the job and to tell their families they will be late tonight. Vero and Toño lament after the boss leaves their presence, what are they going to do about the children tonight! They have no alternative plan and are quite upset.

Fabian comes home with a surprise for Noel. It’s a new toy design. Noel is not happy and calls it a caricature of his own work. Fabian says he can improve on it, but Noel says that is not possible. It’s only a copy without entertainment, and mediocre, like everything Fabian does. Fabian says, “We are still working on it. Why don’t you like anything that I do? I work very hard at this. Why are you so bitter and toxic with me? You are just sick!” Noel responds, “You mean just like you? You are just another bad copy of myself!” Fabian says, “I guess I’m just like one of the toys in your collection then. But for me, you are everything to me, Dad. You are my family. I was stupid to think you would ever change. But I guess that is impossible.” Noel tells him to be quiet, but Fabian says, “No you are going to listen to what I have to say because I know your secret.” Noel says, “What are you talking about?” Fab then says, “Study the plans, Dad! That robot is a tribute to Cristina, my mother.” Noel says, “Do not speak of her or even say her name!” Fab says, “What did you forget her? I’ll say it again, Cristina! Oh no, what now, was Renée over here again?”  Noel says, “Yes, but what do you care?”

Mauricio, dressed to do some cleaning, comes in behind Maria saying, “Excuse me boss.” He makes her laugh and after a while she comes up and plants a kiss on him.

This was a lot of work. Will fill in with pictures sometime on Saturday.

A lot of work after a full day of work elsewhere Cynthia. And still dealing with a medical issue that saps your energy. Thanks so much. I enjoyed the recap but really don't like where this is going right now. I realize these stories must induce a certain degree of anxiety to make us keep tuning in, but jeez, seems like there's a lot of "piling on" at the moment.

Loved your title: I'm a sucker for anything from the Bible (King James version) or Shakespeare. Grew up hearing plenty from both and it's firmly embedded in my brain.

And ultimately, one could say this entire story is based on "the sins of the fathers", whether absent in person, or absent emotionally.

Thanks again sweet lady. Hope you can sleep deeply and rest wonderfully. I always had so much adrenaline going after writing a recap that I tossed and turned all night.

Sensational Cynthia.

Agree with Judy that your title was perfect. Carefully crafted with your thoughtful care. I so enjoy your conversation translations and witty "asides".

“Do tell me,” says Char. “What is going on in that crazy blonde head of yours” made me smile. Yup, that feverish little brain is working overtime these days and I’m enjoying every single second.

Of course Jorge should not have taken the money and I’m hoping the loan (which I’m sure Kika engineered) will put a little salve on the children’s hurt. His apology did come from the heart and I thought Lili was actually going to open the door during his confession but of course didn’t because of Baldo.

So after a few mere conversations with Renee, has Noel given up his evil plan to destroy the company and Mau in the process by simply handling things over to his obviously despised son? “The problem is that there is no family to come home to, no children or anything”. Huh? Your son IS with you so are you asking for grandchildren to poison? I’m afraid a full scale war for custody of Anifer is coming. Maria’s prison record and “agitator” status do not give her the edge.
And telling Renee that her beloved mother “…was merely an accident that happened one night” was despicable. Telling Fabian who loves him (God knows why) “You are just another bad copy of myself” was beyond contempt.

“Maria is not for this princess thing as she believes princesses are classists, passive, and basically useless”. Frankly, I don’t know of too many real life princesses, but I thought Princess Diana was none of those things and in fact, was someone who could not have been kinder, braver and more loving. A hero with a crown.

“Baldo makes some disparaging remarks to Lili about brining Pablo in the house, saying his presence will stink and if he comes in, Baldo is going to go far away”. Promises, promises.

I liked that Tono covered for Vero. Talk about toxic work environments. I was hoping they would stand in unison and quit together. After all, Vero seems to be able to get jobs as often as she changes outfits.

Maria is a go getter. I sort of just want her to go away…

I hope you continue to feel better Cynthia. Best wishes for continued healing. I am very grateful for your sharp eye and sense of humor.

Diana

Thank You Cynthia.
Big Boss should have just fired both V / T on the spot and hired some people who might show up to actually contribute to the endeavors of the organization.

No one could have made a stronger case for the no nepotism rule than V / T.
They also make a good argument for getting a divorce when you are insanely incompatible.
Or when a relationship is light years and decades beyond repair. Don't keep picking at a scab.
Leave and let it heal and fall off in time.

Do TN characters get free international airfare and guaranteed passports/visas? Does a broke college student fly to another country to have a coffee with a stranger he just met?
There is no shortage of women on campus. They substantially outnumber men on campus today. Why did this loser come to Mexico? STALKER...Why did Renee let him in the front door? Why doesn't she have a gun to go with her lack of sense? :-)

If my beanie spins much faster I am going to wind up with a Moe Howard bowl-cut hairdon't.

Maria finally smiled last night, and she is pretty doing it.

Thank you for your recap, Cynthia! I hope each week brings you recovery and improvement over your BP.

I, too, was surprised Renee let Ariel in so easily, and was so friendly with him. She seemed really angry, the last time they saw each other.

The Ariel/Renee/Mau/coffee scene reminded me of those old Taster's Choice(?) commercials on TV many years ago, for some reason.

I'm really, really curious to see what cheverisimo scheme Kika is cooking up to undo not-so-Fab.

Diana - yes, excellent points about Princesses and Diana. Women like Maria become tiresome (to me) very quickly. "Agitator" is a perfect word. I knew one like her in real life; she inflicted her views and argumentative nature on our Sunday School class regularly. There was never "conversation", only debate if it could be called that. Oddly, her hubby was a really nice guy who was the opposite of her. Thank goodness she(they) moved away.
Somehow, Maria's character likely will be serving some purpose. I hope.

" If my beanie spins much faster I am going to wind up with a Moe Howard bowl-cut hairdon't."
LOL! This is why they come with chinstraps. Actually, two straps just like Tilley hats. ;-) Even then, they sometimes fly right off our heads over these telenovela twists.

Wow, Toño took one for the team by saving Vero. If Toño was truly mean-spirited, he would have stayed quiet.

Jorge's sincere humility is a step in the right direction toward redeeming this character. He KNEW he had done wrong and did not even try to justify it. And, he could have by virtue that by the investment, he is trying to keep a roof over their heads. I was touched by Lili moving toward the door, as if her heart was softening. I think women are more forgiving, or quicker to forgive, due to our basic nurturing nature. Or maybe it was just her preggo hormones.

Good Day, Patio Pals. It's a dreary Saturday here in the RGV, but loving the soft rain soaking into the grazing fields. Cynthia, thank you so much for taking time from your busy schedule and providing us with such a great recap despite your recovery efforts. You are truly a woman to be admired.

Every time Maria opens her mouth, I dislike her more. Diana, you are so right about Princess Diana and other warrior princesses. And I agree with Doris, your term "agitator" is perfect. Kirby, she did smile last night, but Mau surely wasn't. She is made out to be a smart woman yet she accepts Mau's proposal to start a relationship the day following his break-up with Renee...hoping that it is really because he likes her. How stupid is that?!

Though I think Ariel is a better match for Renee (appearance-wise, since they are both cute), I agree that Renee was too quick to open that door and invite a stranger in...and who in their right mind gives someone they just met their address???

Doris, the threesome having coffee reminded you of the Taster's choice commercial? Well, that thing Mau was wearing reminded me of Christmas carolers...all he needed was a top hat and the song book.

Kirby, "If my beanie spins much faster I am going to wind up with a Moe Howard bowl-cut hair don't." I think that would be true for many of us!

doris, agree, "agitator" does fit Maria to a "t". Excellent. Women are such a powerful force as individuals, imagine what we could accomplish if we all supported each other! There is good in everyone and one must not need to be perpetually unpleasant and humorless to get a point across. Maria does not lack for confidence though. Points for that. Of course, her timing is SO unrealistic.

"She is made out to be a smart woman yet she accepts Mau's proposal to start a relationship the day following his break-up with Renee...hoping that it is really because he likes her. How stupid is that?!" Well said RgvChick!

Kirby, I laughed out loud at the Moe bowl haircut line. I was still smiling enjoying your avatar.

Sun is out as are the early birds on the patio.

Looking forward to seeing everyone else soon.

Diana

Rgv - so sorry about your gloomy weather. That's all we've had these past few months. Ugh. Today is gorgeous and I just spent a couple hours doing much needed yard work. We've had. so much rain that the weeds look like bushes.

Maui's scarf was an interesting fabric because the light shined thru it, at certain camera angles, as if it was made of handkerchief linen or batiste. Must be the warm weather version. And ITA about the Christmas carolers!

Yard work is done . . . Now to do housework. Blech 😛😛😛

RGV: " thing Mau was wearing reminded me of Christmas carolers."
It made me think of Kramer on Seinfeld if he had been in some bizarre incident in the shower curtain aisle in WalMart.

And where's Andy? Last I heard he was trying to upgrade the firmware in his Kika decoder.

Hello , all.

Thank you, Cynthia, for fitting this excellent recap into your busy schedule. I hope that you are recovering and feeling much better.

These days, I am always on the lookout for something positive to focus on, good folks to talk to, and perhaps a smile or giggle in my day. That is why caray is always a part of my day. So..thanks to all the kind, funny, smart people here who always lift my spirits despite the news.

Sunny and 70 here. I am hanging laundry out on the backyard line for the first time since the fall.

I agree with all the comments about Maria . Strong women don't have to bash people over the head. There are lots of strong women right here on the patio who are kind, caring ,and loving and who have a sense of humor . Brash does not equate to strong.

Does Kiki only own those tight sheath dresses and stilettos ? They look uncomfy. No flipflops and capris? Sneakers? Shorts?

I hate wishy washy Maury and his weird pretentious scarves right now . So in lurrvve with Renee....until Mama Maria shows up . Real love ?

Susy I think those hold her Butt in place.

:-)

Kirby, "I think those hold her Butt in place." Yuppers, I just hope nothing comes bursting out :-)

Thank you, Cynthia! The recap was excellent! I missed the first 15 minutes because I forgot about it. Go figure!

ITA about with everyone about María. She just grates on my nerves. Maybe Mauricio will tire of her incessant "just being direct" before long. He needs to iImagine living 24/7 with that.

Yes, I do give Toño points for taking the blame for Verónica. He finally did something selfless for her. Those two will end up back together.

Mauricio with the rag on his head was definitely not a good look.

Jorge was totally wrong touching the inheritance money. It looks like Kika is turning into his guardian angel of sorts.

Oh Jarifa, the sweatband? Not the half of a drapery flung around his neck / upper torso?
The sweatband and pink duster and tomatoes apron WAS a little much. I suspect the boy does not have sweat glands. If so he is saving them for when he really needs them.

"I just hope nothing comes bursting out :-)"
It must be a strange and wonderful Luuuurve if Jorge hasn't discovered that.

Kirby, “sweatband” LOL, looked like a rag to me. : ) Was he supposed to look “cute”? They missed that by a loooong shot.

Cynthia, thank you so much for your, as always, great recap. It clarified a lot for me and explained some things I did not understand at all. And provided info on scenes I didn't see, such as Flor inviting Baldo in. I wonder if Univision offers two versions of these TNs to individual stations? One with cuts to allow too many commercials and one with cuts to allow way too many commercials?

Kirby, I definitely need a Kika decoder :-)

She is turning into a sweetheart though.

There is no shortage of interesting characters in this TN. Baldo is one. He's quite obnoxious, but he manned up a bit with Nerón and apologized for his earlier behavior. He is also the only character in the TN who is allowed to sweat. At least twice I have seen underarm wetness in his T-shirts. That doesn't "just happen" in TNs.

Maria keeps showing those bare shoulders trying to get Mau all excited. He has been holding back, and has tried a couple of times to straighten things out with Renée. Maria has decided to up her game and get physical with him. Mau better watch out because Maria is very "liberal" and has been known to become a wild and crazy girl at least once every seven years.

Anifer wants to be a princess? OK, we're on schedule, but I don't remember which order the colors come in. Is it purple and gray first, or pink?

Yay, for Toño! Yeah, I think they can get together again.

:-)

andy

So there's a Kika decoder! Is it a ring ?

Yeah, again with the fold shoulders. I notice that Maria is the only woman embracing this trend.

Chickie, the rain started here about 4.30.

" decoder! Is it a ring ?"

Nooo. It looks just like a set of Hot Rollers. But turn it upside down and there is an on/off switch on the bottom.

Andy, good point about María being “ wild and crazy” at least once every seven years.

Hmmm, the ice queen melts every seven years???

Might be "the seven year itch."

Nice Doggie RGV. "Hmmm, the ice queen melts every seven years???"

Hmmmmm OR maybe simply fertile every seven years.
There is some Biblical recommendation to farmers about every seven years and the word 'fallow'.
But I can't seem to connect the two.

:-)

Yes, like the new doggie photo RGV Chick.

Seven years has lots of important meanings in the Bible and in folklore. Seventh son of the seventh son was always my favorite. But I have no use for Maria. She just comes off a more strident than "direct".

“ wild and crazy” at least once every seven years.
ice queen melts every seven years???
Might be "the seven year itch."
seven years and the word 'fallow'.

I'd say Mauricio needs to move that bolt of upholstery fabric he has begun to wear a little lower.

Of course if 'The Itch' could announce that she and Mau are expecting Anifer's sibling, that would get Flaky Renee out of our hair for good. By the time she gets her "Master Robot" certificate and sorts out her family, she will be too old to have children.

Happy Sunday

Susanlynn: Sounds like Maria has ulterior motives!

Thanks, Cynthia. I missed watching this episode, but feel like I was right there. Best wishes that you continue to feel better and better with each new day.

Oh-noes, Jorge used the kids' trust money. He's determined to learn every lesson about parenthood the hard way. Can't stand Baldo, but I wouldn't blame him for pressing charges against his pop.

Poor Renee's mom. The love of her life thought of her as one night's mistake. I kind of feel sorry for Fab. He got his crazy as a little tyke from his pop who never let up on him.

Where's the comedy? Right here from the Caraymates on the patio. Your cracks on Mau's head rag are too funny. And, yeah, Renee making her stalker feel right at home is nutso.

Good Morning! New doggie picture is of "Patches."

Jorge using the inheritance money was wrong, but I can understand why he did it...and as always, his heart was in the right place thinking of his business partners and even of his children. I think he is hoping that Anitoys flourishes and he can return the money with much interest.

I still can't believe that Renee is taking all this information about her father so calmly. She vehemently searched for her father and when she finds him it's like, "Oh, okay." He tells her she was a mistake from a one nighter and it's another, "Oh, okay." Does anything rattle this girl??

Niecie, I have been thinking the same thing about “Where’s the comedy” even if it might be a “dramedy” of sorts. I don’t know why after watching all these years I am still surprised that a “comedy” in telenovela world is rarely, if ever pure comedy. I keep hoping, though . . . I would even like just a preponderance of comic events. They are such an fascinating combination of comedy even slapstick and drama with sometimes quite unsavory characters or grotesque twists of fate. A genre of its own that keeps me guessing! That must be why I keep watching this “lighter fare”. It defies description IMHO.

Good morning all!

Patches is just adorable RgvChick. I imagine being surrounded by dogs (among your other "kids") is a recipe for pure happiness. Thank you for sharing.

Niecie and Jarifa, what was the last TN that was truly a comedy? Amores con Trampa? I can't honestly recall.

Diana

" "Oh, okay." Does anything rattle this girl??"

Meds...............Final Answer

"I still can't believe that Renee is taking all this information about her father so calmly. "
Renee knows she is in a telenovela and wears her telenovela beanie hat with both chin straps in place.. 😉

Rgv Chickie, Patches is cute and seems quite at home.

ITA that the Renée and Noel bit is odd. He is now stringing her along with a partial story every day and having her come back the next day for the rest. I hope he doesn't try to stretch it out for 1001 nights. OK, she did finally complain about always having to come back to get the rest of the story, but she also left behind a picture that tells Fabián that she had been there again. Sheesh!

Jarifa, yeah, they have pulled the old "bait and switch" on us. I started watching this TN expecting a somewhat silly, overly sweet story, but I was OK with that because I'm just not mature enough to handle adult fare such as D.F. Law or CET.

Now I occasionally wish they would give us more of the overly sweet stuff.

:-)

Renee does seem to have a LOT in common with these robots she is obsessed with.

When Maria showed up very, very undead the average luuuurve sick TN Honey would have accepted that her personal WWIII had begun and went with "A good defense is a good offense." :

Mark your territory.
Don't turn your back (do not pass Go, collect $200 or go to MerryLand
Out Mother the enemy with Anifer and out sex her with Mau.
Get new clothes that do not look like Lady PacMan.

Instead she is blindly following the dotted magnetic line in the floor.

Arrrrghhhh.

doris:

As I understand it, the Tilley hats which inspired our beanies are capable of being ingested (eaten alive) and later recovered, washed, (deodorized) and put back into service again as headgear.

I wanted to try it with my beanie, but I couldn't find the sodium content. :-)

Andy, You were wise to skip CET. It is one of the darkest most depressing things I ever saw. The production was excellent as were the performances. It was the plot that was so bleak. I will happily take a PATM any time over that!

Hello.

Judy...strident is a good word to describe Maria...throw in joyless and cranky.

I think that Renee is already pregnant which will block Maria's advances.

Speaking fashion faux pas, what is up with that collared black motorcycle jacket that Noel wears?

Chickie..Patches is a cutie. I like small dogs but would live in fear of Hub stepping on it. I have enough trouble avoiding getting stepped on myself.

There do not seem to be many María fans here. That's a shame because she is Anifer's mom, she has beautiful eyes and decent shoulders, and she actually wants to be affectionate, as compared to Renée's -- mostly -- soulful and longing looks for Mau. But Renée is better looking. Whatever, it's all a mess.

Regarding jackets and such that people wear, I think it is supposed to be a chilly time of the year in D.F. and I would expect older people to wear sweaters or jackets, fashion aside. It must be good sleeping weather though, and I see they often have comforters on the bed. Do homes in D.F. have heating?

andy

Diana and Jarifa, yep, Amores con Trampa kept the comedy going pretty much throughout. Por Ella Soy Eva did too.

Andy, I find both Renee and Maria equally gorgeous. Maria has the height advantage, but Renee has a lovely (big) nose. I'm actually okay with Maria. She arrived and saw a wavering relationship and took advantage. It's Mau's wishy-washy that makes me mad. He let Maria know that his door was open. Committed guys don't do that.

Neicie....I completely agree with you about wishywashy Maury morning the door for Mamamaria to walk in. Ariel would probably be a more committed match for Renee.. But we also know that Renee and Maury are meant to be.

Morning????..Opening!!!!

Niecie, so did La Fan and LFMB.

Just read online a good way to describe autocorrect..... ",autocowrecked",

Also read about a woman considering divorce after 45 years of marriage sometimes reality is stranger than fiction!!!

I like it
The autocowrecked

45 years?

Sheezo, can't she just hang on a few more and let him die? That's what mom did.

Kirby...I just felt that I had to share those two pieces of information that I garnered over the weekend😳

Yeah, you don't want to hoard something like that Susy.
Thanks

Oh Gawd, surprised my bird hasn't drowned.

I know you all have seen this little fellow, but he is just sooo cute.

Susanlynn, I (sadly) know of quite a few long term marriages that ended in divorce.

I think some just realize they were unhappy they saw no point in continuing. This often happens when the sense of mortality edges closer.

I also think some just want more out of life.

And then, there's the cheating.

One of my closest friends was separated from her husband of 30 plus years. He was to have picked her up for "a date" but never showed. She called the police the next day and found out he was in the hospital having suffered a heart attack. When she got to the hospital, the desk asked who she was. After telling them she was his wife, they looked shocked. When she got into his room, the woman with whom he'd been having an affair with the past 17 years stood up and introduced herself. The medical staff assumed she was his wife. And not to make light of it, he actually told my friend for a minute, he wished he had died. I never asked her if she felt the same but I'm thinking yes. True story.

So in some cases, yes I agree Kirby that "Sheezo, can't she just hang on a few more and let him die?" Others, not so much :)

Diana

Kirby the bird's coloring is extraordinary. What a lovely vision.

Diana

Stunning picture Kirby.

And yes, the sad stories of marriages gone bad are legion. But some studies show that if you stay with a bad marriage, it can get better. This is only if it doesn't include the three A's of Alcoholism, Abuse and Adultery. In those cases it is probably better to get out. If it's safe to do so.

Kirby, clearly your latest photo is another keeper! Wow!

Thanks everybody. Happy ducky Monday

Hi there , all.

Diana, that is a really sad story and could be a storyline in a telenovela.

Judy..yes those three "A"s are hard to deal with. What I can never understand is when someone who has committed all three of those and then turns around and blames the spouse for their problems.

Oh,on the way home from our daughter's house after getting the grandgirls ready for school and on the bus, we stopped at the farm and saw that a massive, old pine tree had fallen on the roof. Always something, right?

Jarifa, Blow it up and look at his cute little web feet. It is a Mandarin Duck. Not native to N America so must be an escaped pet. Good for him (and her, didn't want to be photographed)

"This is only if it doesn't include the three A's of Alcoholism, Abuse and Adultery. In those cases it is probably better to get out. If it's safe to do so."

Nowadays it's the four A's ---- we have to add Addiction with the current opioid crisis.

So true Doris...yep, the four A's. Thanks Big Pharma.
