At Mau’s house, María and Mau are necking on the couch,
but Mau’s thoughts are with Renée; he remembers his first kisses with her and
their last romantic encounter. María senses his coldness and wonders if
something is wrong (Yes! He’s not into you!). Mau denies that anything is wrong
and falters as he tells her that this would be their first time; so it should
be something special…not just something casual on the couch. María thinks
making love is special in and of itself…how and where is the least of it, but
if he wants to plan something, then they can do that. After he thanks her for
understanding, she hugs him, but Mau looks disinclined (and probably thinking
“How can I get out of this?”)
At Fabian’s house, Fabián chides his father for feeling
something for the bastard, but Noel responds that they are just getting to know
each other; no one is talking about feelings and thinks Fabián shouldn’t be so
dramatic. After Fabián questions why Renée is deserving of Noel’s interest as a
father and not him, Noel replies that he is tired of Fabián’s little dramas and
tries to leave, but Fabián pulls him back and demands to know why that meddler
was there. Noel explains that Renée wanted to look into the robot’s design so
Fabián won’t accuse her of plaigarism and take the house away from her; so
Fabián brazenly replies, “She came to ask you for favors? And you what? I
suppose you agreed! Seriously? Did that bastard achieve in a few days what I
couldn’t get in all my life?” When Noel tells Fabián that he is leaving, Fabián
growls, ‘No you’re not! How is it that you can love her and not me? What did I
do to you? Tell me!” Noel spitefully looks at him and replies, “Nothing. You
didn’t do anything. I just loved your mother more than you; that’s all.” Fabián
points out, “She is gone! She left many years ago! I am your son; I am your
blood! Seriously, can’t you love me just a little?” Noel retorts, “I can’t
forgive that you killed the love of my life. She was everything to me…my whole
life, my reason for living! And I’m sorry, but not all fathers can love their
children more than their wife. Is that so difficult to understand? Are you so
stupid that your can’t even understand that?” As Noel walks aways, Fabián hangs
his head low and says, “Papa, it could be that my mother died because of me,
but the only thing that I did was to be born. But you, you killed Aurora; and I
would pay anything to see Mauricio’s face when he finds out that his ‘Father
Noel’ killed his mother.” Noe silently curses Fabián…
At Jorge’s house, Jorge enters Lili’s bedroom as she packs.
When he asks why she is packing, Lili informs him that she and Pablo decided to
move up their trip to the US and asks him not to give her a hassle because they
have already discussed everything. Jorge admits that they did talk about it,
but they didn’t mention that it would be now. They had said that the baby would
be born and they would then look at the situation. When he starts to threaten
that if she leaves now…Lili interrupts and tells Jorge he can’t have Pablo
deported because he has all his papers in order, but Jorge assures her that he
won’t have him deported…but he could report him for rape and child abuse…Pablo
is considered an adult and she is under-aged. When Lili reminds him that she is
almost 18, Jorge agrees, but reminds her that she hasn’t reached that age yet.
He is her father; and as her father, he has certain rights until she turns 18.
This is one of his rights; so if she leaves, Pablo will go to jail. (Straight out of
Dale Carnegie, chapter 10 'Win friends and Influence People')
At Fabián’s house, Noel declares, “That was an accident. How
could I have known that Aurora was going to go inside a place that was ablaze.
I just wanted to teach Bosco a lesson.” Fabian responds, “ Sure, and you think
anyone would pardon you for that? You provoked the fire and killed someone!”
After Noel counters, “And why are you mentioning it? You don’t even know what
happened!” Fabián retorts, “The only thing I know is that Mauricio’s mother
died because of you. I don’t think he will be amused to know that you faked
your own death and that you have hidden like a RAT for years and years so that
Bosco wouldn’t have you thrown in jail for killing his wife! Maybe Mauricio
will have you put in jail for the remaining years of you life!” Noel responds,
“What are you planning to do with all of this? Threaten me? What do you want
from me?” After Fabián replies, “Don’t see Renée again,” Noel agrees, but adds,
“I warn you, leave her in peace!” Fabián smirks at the warning and wonders,
“You care that much about Renée? So you are capable of feeling something…at
least for your little daughter!” After Noel warns Fabián once more, he walks
out.
At Jorge’s house, Lili chides Jorge for getting worse
each day; he doesn’t learn anything from what they tell him. After she adds the
he is closed off and never listens, Jorge retorts that she is the one that
needs to learn because a father has the obligation to do whatever he can to keep
his daughter from doing something stupid like she is about to do. Lili is upset
that Jorge is telling her it was stupid that she had sex without a condom and
tells him that if maybe he had talked to her about sex before, she would have
thought about it more and all of this could have been avoided. She then gets
frustrated and states that she doesn’t even know what she is saying. Jorge
can’t believe she is blaming him for what happened. When he adds that she
should blame her mother since she is the one who raised her, Lili shouts that
she doesn’t want him mentioning her mother. Lili turns and grabs her luggage;
so Jorge grabs it and takes it away. Immediately afterwards, Lili crouches and
moans in pain. When she tells Jorge that she is not feeling well, he helps her
up to take her to the hospital. Jorge remembers that he doesn’t have his car,
but still continues to lead her out. (One of the earliest proven abortion
methods—fight with Grampa to be.)
At Rafa’s house, Rafa tells Renée that the only thing
they need to proceed with the adoption are letters of recommendation from
friends or relatives who can vouch for them. Renée agrees to write a letter for
Rafa. When she asks Rodrigo if he has someone to write a letter for him, he
responds that he doesn’t, but he can find someone right away. (Oh, Wait, his
BFF Jorge, yeah, that'll work!) After Rodrigo leaves, Rafa points out that
Rodrigo is acting strangely. Renée agrees since Rodrigo left all of a sudden.
When Rafa asks how things went with Noel, Renée replies that with Noel,
everything is odd, but she thinks the man can still help her. Rafa notes her
downcast look, so Renée confides that she feels bad about not telling Mauricio
that Noel is alive. When Rafa wonders what good that would do, Renée is unsure.
Outside, Jorge is leading a crouched Lili as Rodrigo sees
them; so he runs over and asks if everything is okay. Jorge tells him
everything is fine; they are just going to flag down a taxi. Rodrigo then asks
Lili if she is having problems with the baby, so she tells him she isn’t
sure…she just has a pain in her lower abdomen. When Rodrigo offers to take
them, Jorge refuses the offer, but when Lili tells him she feels bad, Rodrigo
points out that it would be faster if he takes them; so Jorge agrees. (Put Jorge
in the front. Then when you get the patrol car up to, say 120, it will be
easier to eject him out onto the roadside.)
At Fabián’s house, Noel calls out to Fabián and tells
him, “Instead of threatening me, watch out for yourself because you are the one
who will end up in jail. They want to report you for unjustly sending your
daughter’s mother to jail.” Fabián smirks and smugly says, “So you already
know? Are you happy to know that you are a granddaddy...or do you want to spend
your time trying to bring down your own son?” When Noel responds, “Don’t tempt
me!” Fabián counters, “And how are you going to do that? Tell me…how are you
going to do that…because you are a decrepit old man…half-crazed! No one will
believe you. You are supposed to be dead. People don’t even know you exist,
Papa. And when you are dead, everything that belongs to you is mine…this house,
Renée’s house, the rights to your last creation, your favorite robot. Everything,
everything is mine!” Fabián then mockingly kisses his father. (WWIII on the
Loco Front sees the first 2000 pound bombs land)
At the school, Laura tells Mau that Anifer’s grades have
improved; it is obvious that things are going well at home. When she adds that
stability is fundamental for children, Mau agrees and adds that it is the same
with children as is with adults. As Mau is about to leave, Laura reminds Mau
that the school tuition is still pending. When Mau apologizes and tells her he
has been very busy with the house…and work, Anifer is surprised and happy that
he has a job, but Mau “reminds” her that he has always had a job. Anifer
insists that she thought he didn’t have a job, so Laura tells him he shouldn’t
be ashamed…that’s life. Mau explains that he has been busy, he just doesn’t
have a big “cashflow” right now. When Mau suggests a barter, Laura is intrigued
and wonders if he has chickens or a farm…but she’s just kidding! They laugh,
but Mau does offer to help out at the school however he can; so Laura thinks he
could help with the play since they have so many problems with finding a
director…and Anifer did mention that he acted at the university….and everyone
knows he is very creative. (But the clincher for Laura was that accoutrement he
wears around his neck.) Mau laughs and agrees he is creative, but isn’t sure he
could direct a play full of little people. After Laura and Anifer encourage
him, he agrees; so Laura tells him he can come every morning…if he isn’t
working.
At the hospital, Jorge is on the phone with Kika telling her
that Lili has nothing seriously wrong. He is happy about it, but he felt really
bad, especially since he was scolding Lili when she got the pain. Kika assures
him that she supports him in everything, but he has to understand that if he
keeps fighting with his children, they will rebel...then he will surely have a
heart attack. Jorge insists that he will not allow his daughter to run off with
the guy and cross the border…that is not what they had agreed to do. Kika
stresses that he needs to realize that Lili has gotten ahead of him on many
things…she will soon be a mother and will turn 18. Jorge sits down exhausted
and tells Kika that maybe he is wrong…maybe he is doing wrong; he isn’t sure.
What’s for certain is that all he can think of is that he is to blame for
everything and that somehow they ended up there because of him. Kika shakes her
head and tells Jorge, “You know what your problem is? That you find blame
everywhich way; you need to stop. This is not a court; there is no guilty
party.” When she remains quiet, Jorge wonders if they were cut off, but Kika
finally responds that she just has a brilliant idea…but it’s something he needs
to commit to. Jorge looks dubious (What’s she gonna get me into now? but…You
gotta Love a girl who can think on her back :-)
Outside the cul-de-sac, Mau and Anifer walk as Anifer
jumps up and down yelling that her father is going to be a director. Mau warns
Anifer he is no Andrew Lloyd Weber. As he explains who Weber is, Anifer sees
Renée and runs happily to give her a hug. After Anifer tells her she is going
to be in a play and that her father is going to help out, she asks Renée if she
will go see them; so Renée responds that, if she can, she will be glad to go.
After Renée assures Anifer that she will her help her however she can, Renée’s
mood turns somber as she greets Mau. Mau tells her that he and Anifer were just
talking about her, and Anifer adds that they miss her very much. When Renée
expectantly looks at Mau, Mau fumbles as he explains, “What the little one
means is that she misses you; so I told her I do too….that is, I miss seeing
both of you together...talking…accomplices like before.” After Anifer leaves to
go drop off her back pack, Renée and Mau look awkwardly at each other.
At the hospital, Jorge leads Lili out as Rodrigo
approaches to ask how Lili is. Lili tells him she is fine and gives him a
summary of what the doctor said. She was experiencing some muscle spasms that are
normal in the first trimester. She is also supposed to have a lot of bed
rest…and ZERO stress…to avoid getting upset. When Rodrigo offers them a ride
back, Jorge refuses, so Lili asks Jorge if he is going to continue to be rude
after Rodrigo brought them…the least they could do is thank him and accept the
ride. After Jorge concedes since it is what Lili wants, Rodrigo clarifies that
he is not doing it for Jorge; he is doing it for Lili and her baby. When
Rodrigo starts to leave, Jorge calls to him and thanks him for bringing them
and taking them back to their house; he doesn’t know how he will repay him.
Rodrigo looks dubious about Jorge’s sincerity, but tells him there may be a way
he can repay him…they can talk on the way home.
At the gazebo, Mau asks Renée if there are any
developments regarding her house; so Renée laughs and comments that seems to be
at the only thing they talk about now. (OK...we can talk about your Master
program if you prefer. Hmmm think it's going to rain...) Mau just worries that
Fabián wants to take the house from her since it’s her inheritance and her only
source of income. After Renée reminds him that she also works at the
foundation, she starts to add that it’ll be easier now that…but stops herself
and tells Mau to forget it…it’s not important. (Ya, looks like rain on the way.)
Mau suspects it is something important; so he asks if something else happened
with Fabián or her mastery program...or if she’d like to say something about
their relationship. Renée shakes her head and gets up to leave, but Mau
insists…at this point, he can take anything…revelations, declarations of
love…or hate…or marriage….whatever, as long as she doesn’t leave him...uhhmmm,
with this doubt. Renée insists that she must leave and walks away leaving Mau
wishing he had been more convincing.
[Mexican Version: Toño looks in on Veronica as she is
fully focused on her project. After he jauntily enters with two lunch bags,
Veronica smiles as she is pleasantly surprised and asks what he is doing there
and where the kids are. (Honey, I shrunk the Kids; they're in here.) Toño
replies that they are with Rafa and asks how he can help her, but Veronica
remarks that he should be out for the day and this is her responsibility. Toño
insists that they are a team and reminds her that Bustamante (BustinmyButte)
commented that his stated working hours are just a formality. Veronica feels
bad, but agrees to let him help her; so Toño hands her the tacos, just the way
she likes them.]
At Jorge’s house, Jorge speaks calmly to Pablo and Lili. He
hopes Pablo agrees that having Lili cross the border in her condition is crazy.
Pablo does agree, but Lili thinks differently and reminds Jorge that she
shouldn’t be getting upset. When she turns to Pablo and pleads with him that
they should leave now, Jorge reminds her that the doctor also told her she need
much rest. Pablo thinks Jorge is right; she can’t go with him right now and she
might put the baby as risk. Lili is frustrated that no one understands her; so
Jorge points out that she is 18 years old and over the age of having tantrums.
They should talk as adults…the three of them. He asks them to wait on the trip
and proposes that when the doctor says that Lili is well and can travel, and if
Pablo is still in the US, he will promise to take her with Pablo and his
father. Lili sneers as she asks Jorge if he really thinks they are going to
believe him, but Pablo asks Jorge if he is serious. Jorge states that he is
serious…and moreover promises in the memory of Yuriria, who Lili should know is
very important to him. Lili is touched by his words and considers it.
Outside, Sammy tells Baldo that his father may be
whatever Baldo thinks, but when his father gives his word, he follows
through…even though it may be wrong, he will do it. If Jorge has to rob a bank
to give them their money back, he will do that. Meanwhile, Valentina is texting
with Danny who tells her that if he was there he would, at a minimum, give her
a kiss.
At Mau’s house, Mau brags to María that he now has a
position as a play director at the school; it doesn’t bring in any money, but
it sounds nice…he can just imagine his name on the marquee. María encourages
him by telling him that he will find something, though Mau thinks that this
opens up his opportunity for different types of business deals…and one of his
ideas is to sell the license for one of the more popular toys produced by
Logatoys. When Anifer asks who would buy it, Mau responds that he isn’t sure,
but he will talk it over with Jorge (note, he does say “Jorge” when Jorge is
not present) to see how viable it would be. Just then, Anifer gets a craving
for the yogurt that Renée makes; so María comments that she doesn’t make it as
good as Renée, but Anifer can enjoy the delicious rice pudding she made. (Yogurt---robots,
Rice---Wedding---oops was that out loud?)
At Logatoys, Fabián checks the robot and comments that
something is missing. When the designer remarks that he followed all the
instructions and it took many hours of work, Fabián tells him to throw it in
the trash. Falcón comments that Fabián needs to give them his feedback or they
won’t be able to move forward, so Fabián tells them, “It’s just a question of
making some changes…there it is.”
At night, Vero and Toño are still at the office. Veronica
worries that the kids will be with Rafa all night, so Toño assures her that
they will be fine…and Renée will be there too. When he adds that they need to
focus on finishing, Veronica comments that they will only have time to go home
for a change of clothes and to take the kids to school. Toño then remarks,
“Listen, it’s as if we were still married…but we’re not. Well, we are on paper,
but we’ve separated and are going to get a divorce…” Veronica agrees and adds,
“If we spend time together, it’s because of the kids and work…it’s a
necessity.” Toño nods and remarks, “In regards to spending time together, it’ll
just be here because I’ve already found an apartment. It’s small and about 2-3
blocks from the cul-de-sac, but I can afford it.”
At Mau’s house, Mau tells the present Coop members that
if they let Fabián do whatever he wants, they will never be able to start the
Cooperative. When Jorge adds that the Coop doesn’t have any money for anyone,
Nerón adds that now that they have reorganized themselves, they need to see how
they can be rid of the cursed one. After Mau brings up that the selling of a
license of one of the toys will bring in quite a bit of money, Jorge remarks
that it won’t be easy and will take time. They need to talk to the European and
American attorneys who can be very sharp. After Mau thanks them for coming, Mau
asks to talk to Nerón by himself. Once alone, Mau tells Nerón that he wants to
ask him about the accident in which his mother died. Nerón is bewildered.
Outside, Rodrigo bumps into Jorge and asks him about the
favor he asked of him…the letter of recommendation. When Jorge agrees to write
it, Rodrigo is elated because a letter of recommendation from an attorney,
family man with values and follows the law like Jorge is very important. (Isn't
a big ole slurpy hug in order Rod? Teehee…) Jorge agrees that following the law
is the most important thing and asks what the letter is for. He wonders if
Rodrigo is looking for another job, but when Rodrigo explains that it’s to meet
the requirements of the adoption agency, Jorge can only nod… (Checkmate, Jorgie
Boi)
At Mau’s house, Mau knows that it is odd that he is now
asking about the fire that, up to now, he has thought was an accident. Nerón
has always thought it was an accident too since no one would have wanted to
harm the factory much less Aurora; they all loved her very much. When Mau
confides that he has always felt guilty about it because, though he was small,
he always felt that his father blamed him for what happened, Nerón wonders if
his father accused him of it. Mau denies it, but adds that his father never
outright told him anything. Nerón then shares that Bosco never rested until a
complete investigation was completed and found that it was the result of an
electrical problem…a problem that had existed for quite some time; it certainly
wasn’t due to a child’s prank. Out of respect for Mau’s mother, no one ever
spoke of it again. Don Bosco worked hard after that and many years afterwards,
when Mau was at the American school, Noel died; and Don Bosco took it
hard….though it had been years that they had talked to each other. Mau
remembers that too and Mau felt very sorry for Fabián. Nerón thinks that maybe
Fabián losing his mother so young and then his father may have embittered him.
Mau remarks that Bosco loved Fabián as a son, though Fabián was older…not like
Anifer who is so young. When Mau shares that he sometimes feels sorry for
Fabián despite all the bad things he has done, Nerón still thinks that Fabián has
been bitter since way back then. (Or, Noel's wife was cheating on him with
Satan...just sayin’) Mau again asks Nerón if he really believes that the fire
was an accident; and Nerón does believe so as he questions who would burn down
a factory that provided for their food and supported all of them. Mau doesn’t
know; he just has this idea in his head. It could be that the anniversary of
his mother’s death is coming up.
[Mexican Version: At Rafa’s house, Rafa is playing with the
Barrientos kids, When he tells them it’s time to get ready for bed, they
complain and Fidelito flat out says, “No!” After some coaxing, Fidelito goes
off to get ready for bed. Tanya and Neto stay behind, and Neto asks Rafa why he
lives with Rodrigo; so Rafa explains that he and Rodrigo are married. Neto then
wonders if Rafa is going to tell Fidelito a story before going to bed; Rafa
thinks that is a good idea.]
[Mexican Version: Outside Jorge tells Rodrigo that writing a
letter of recommendation for something like a job is one thing, but writing a
letter of recommendation to adopt a child is totally different. As Jorge rushes
to his house, Rodrigo tells him to hold on…there is no difference. Jorge
insists that there is a big difference since he is asking for a recommendation
from a Catholic who is a believer and the Catholic religion does not accept gay
marriages...much less adopting a child. Rodrigo reminds Jorge that he gave his
word to return the favor. When he explains that all they want is to adopt a
child and give him the best of themselves and it’s an opportunity to open the
door for an orphan and give him a home, Jorge responds that the traditional
family consists of a father, mother, and children. Rodrigo then points out that
there a a variety of family compositions. As he points to Jorge, he remarks
that he is one example; he is the father of four children who are half-siblings
and who don’t have a mother…and it’s still a family. It is not a traditional
family…and that is what he and Rafa want…a family. When Rodrigo questions if
that is not so, Jorge responds that he will see what he can do and starts to
walk away, but Rodrigo stops him and tells him that is not fair since he needs
the letter for tomorrow. If Jorge was serious about returning the favor and if
he is a man of his word, then Rodrigo will await the letter. (One of my CDs did
this, it played the same verse over and over until I took out the batteries.)]
In Anifer’s bedroom, María tells Anifer that she spoke to
Ofelia, a friend from San Crispín, who sent Anifer her many hugs and kisses.
When Anifer asks if Ofelia lives there or in San Crispín, María replies that
Ofelia had left for a while, but has returned. María then mentions that she
will have to return to San Crispín whenever she can to go meet with her friends
and see how the situation is over there, Anifer wonders if her father can go
with them, so María affirms that he can; they can invite him to go with them so
he can get to know San Crispín better. Anifer then shares that she and her
father went some time back, but that they only went to their house and the
cemetary. María asks if only the two of them went; so Anifer explains that she
invited Renée, but Renée thought it was best that only the two of them go.
Anifer then shares her secret that she misses Renée very much. María remains
silent (and wishes it wasn’t so)…(Maybe Mauricio's neck thinnnnngggg is part of
becoming a Mormon? Problem solved.)
Meanwhile, Mau is in his bedroom looking at a picture of him
with his mother. María softly knocks and comes in. She wasn’t sure if he had
fallen asleep with the lights on or if she would be able to say good night.
After she confirms that Anifer already fell asleep, she asks about the picture,
so Mau shares that it is his mother in the last months before she died…he was
about seven years old. María comments that she thought his mother was much
younger when she died, so Mau explains that his mother had him when she was
older. Mau then tells her that he doesn’t want to seem rude or untrustworthy,
but he’d rather tell her about it some other day. After María responds,
“Whenever you want is fine with me,” she looks at him and rests her head on his
shoulder. Mau feels totally awkward…
Since María doesn’t get the response she was hoping for, she
gets up quickly and tells Mau she is going off to bed. She hopes that special
day he promised her will be a nice surprise…and as special as he is. After she
leaves, Mau looks distressed (and wishes he had never opened his mouth)…
Veronica is fast asleep at her desk when Toño comes prancing
in with coffee. She wakes up and thanks him for the coffee while she figures
out where they were at on the presentation and reads the last thing she wrote.
Toño comments the he doesn’t even know what he is doing or saying any more, but
this reminds him of when they would stay up late into the night with Neto who
would cry until he was exhausted and fell asleep. As Veronica stretches, she
smiles as she remembers and adds that Tanya was easier because she at least
would let them sleep. Toño then remembers that Fidelito wouldn’t cry…but he
wouldn’t sleep either. As they both climb up on the desk to sit down, Veronica
thinks Toño shouldn’t be complaining because she was the one who got stuck with
all the work. When Toño reminds her that he helped her on some nights, Veronica
tells him to listen to what he is saying… he “helped her.” She was the one that
did all the work was; he was her assistant…just like he is now (smirk, smirk).
They laugh at the thought, but then Veronica tells him that, seriously, he
didn’t have the same responsibility that she had. When he asks how she would
have handled the situation, Veronica responds that they could have taken
turns—he could have gone for the babies every other night and brought them to
her while she rested. They continue talking until Toño admits that women are
superior. ( Did I tell you about that CD I had one time that would...........)
The Next Day—
At Mau’s house, María is surprised that Renée has dropped by
so early; so Renée explains that she brought something for Anifer and wanted to
give it to her before she left for school. When Renée asks if she can see
Anifer, María tells her that she shouldn’t have bothered, then adds that Anifer
is in her room where her father is combing her hair. As María walks away, Renée
makes small talk about how Mau has improved in combing Anifer’s hair, then
notices María’s icy look. When she asks María if she said something wrong,
María replies that it’s nothing Renée said. She apologizes for her lack of
diplomacy before telling Renée that the situation is getting too difficult for
her. Renée is confused as to what situation María is talking about; so María
adds that she can’t stop Renée from spending time with Anifer because she knows
Renée took care of her when she was not there…and she will always be grateful
for that. María knows that Renée and Anifer love each other very much. Renée is
still not understanding what the problem is and urges María to continue. María
then stoicly informs Renée that things have changed with Mauricio…she and
Mauricio are a couple. (WWIII on the Meow Front swings into Full Assault Mode)
Meanwhile, Mau is with Anifer who tells Mau that she is
young, but she can tell he is sad, or worried, or angry even though he may say
that there is nothing wrong. Mau responds that he likes her because she is so
observant and intelligent, but doesn’t want her to worry. Anifer thinks he is
missing Renée; so Mau tells her that, in order to keep her from asking so many
questions, he is going to put her to work. He needs her thoughts about an idea
he has for a new toy…without her, he will not be able to finish it. Anifer is
excited about being a team again just as they were at Logatoys.
In the dining area, Renée comments that María and Mauricio
are free to do whatever they want, but it doesn’t seem fair that she should be
expected to stay away from Anifer. María responds that is not what she is
saying (she is simply implying it without actually vocalizing the words); she
just wants there to be some limits. Renée wonders what kind of limits; so María
gives her the example that if she is there with Anifer, there is no reason for Renée
to come so early to give Anifer fruit. Renée is bewildered that a present
should be justified; she brought strawberries because she knows Anifer likes
them. When she bought them she only thought of Anifer…not about her or
Mauricio. When Renée points out that she has very little time left there and
that she will some day be just a memory to Anifer, María is sorry, but Renée
tells her there is nothing to be sorry for; her life has always been that way.
People come into her life, and sooner or later, she has to say good-bye. Renée
asks María to give the fruit to Anifer and walks out. Soon after, Anifer comes
running out because they heard Renée’s voice. María tells Anifer that Renée
brought her some strawberries; and Mau notices the indifference in her voice. (Meow…
Maria struts away with her tail held high with that little crook right up at
the end.)
At Restrepo Systems, Veronica is giving her new presentation
to Bustamante and three other men. After a while, she asks Toño to explain part
of the presentation.
At Anifer’s school, Laura is introducing Mauricio to the
children. After she explains what he will be doing, Mauricio addresses the
children who look up at him as if he were a giant. When he asks the children if
they are artists or clowns, Neto quickly shouts out that they are clowns! Mau
sternly corrects him; so Laura reminds him that they are just children, but Mau
thinks that is just an excuse…they are artists who want to perform art! After
he asks for a copy of the play, Laura hands it to him, but Mau thinks the title,
“A Winter’s Night in Summer,” will have to change; so Laura tells him he should
read it so he can make some recommendations. Mau agrees since that is his job
as the grand producer! (Oh crap!)
At Restrepo Sytems, the men clap after Toño finishes off the
presentation. After Veronica stands beside Toño and asks for questions, one of
the men starts to ask a question, but Bustamante interrupts to tell Toño to put
away the monitor. As the man continues to ask his question to Veronica, Toño
goes to close the laptop and reticently sits down looking quite abashed.
At Kika’s suite, Kika and Jorge lay in bed together fully
clothed when Kika notices Jorge’s worried look. When Jorge mentions the letter
of recommendation he was asked to write for one of the gay men that live close
by, Kika is elated that he is opening up and being more tolerant , but Jorge
expresses he doesn’t want to do it and explains his concerns about writing the
letter since it goes against his values and beliefs. This gets Kika furious so
she tells Jorge to tell Rodrigo that she will be more than happy to write the
letter for him with the letterhead of her company. Jorge is happy to hear her
say that when Charitin rings the doorbell and shouts out that she is there.
After Kika tells Jorge it’s her sister, she goes to opent he door and chides Charitín
for always having “perfect timing.” Charitín smiles and announces that she has
a surprise. As she steps aside, Kika’s parents appear; so Kika greets her
mother warmly, but is chilly toward her father. After she calls Jorge, he comes
out stuttering and saying that the light bulb has gone out. Kika then
introduces him as her boyfriend. (Meet The Parents II)
Fabian is at his house talking to Falcón on the phone as he
is adding some drug to a pitcher of juice. After he asks Falcón if there are
any news, Falcón tells him that he is on it and will let him know as soon as he
finds out anything; he hopes the people don’t disappoint them. Fabián can’t
believe that Juan Perez has disappeared when they need him most. As he adds
that it seems that the earth has swallowed Perez, Noel enters; so Fabián tells
Falcón that he will be expecting good news and hangs up. Fabián then pours Noel
some juice and tells him that he has been thinking…Noel has always been good at
designing, but not in business deals; Bosco was the one that was good at
business. Noel wonders why Fabián is bringing that up, but then figures it’s
because Fabián wishes that Bosco was his father…moreover, Fabián wishes he were
Mauricio, but no matter how he tried to win Bosco’s love, Bosco was never able
to see him as his son. Fabián remarks that Bosco was always the better
businessman…richer and more normal than Noel. As he hands Noel the glass of
juice, Fabián sneers, “If I could have chosen, this crazy man would not have
been my father.” Noel takes a full drink; and as Fabián walks away and says
that he hadn’t realized how decrepit Noel is, the glass falls and shatters
followed by a thud. Fabián continues, “And I was afraid of you all my life, not
knowing that it would be so easy not to be scared of you…but I can't help but worry about you. We could give you some vitamins...or something..." As he walks toward Noel, Fabián ends with, "...that could be good for you," and he softly kicks at Noel's feet to make sure he is out... (It appears that the Logatoys chemists have developed a tasteless, quick-acting, forensically invisible poison/knockout drug...a feat unaccomplished by the Nazis, Mossad, the KGB, the Mafia, and half the cast over at CET.) (I left a message for those people at 'Forensic Files'.)
And the father shall fall…but will he
