Papá a toda madre Wed. 5/23/18 Capítulo 88: Still Marching in Place--Or--Kisses All Around

Mauricio tells Anifer about the delicate nature of Fabián's spinal surgery. She still wants to go visit him. Mauricio admits to being afraid that Anifer will love Fabián more than him. Anifer assures him she will always love him best because he is her only father in the whole wide world.

Jorge calls his work number to say he is no longer going to play their boss' game and will return the money they paid him up front ASAP. He tells Dulce that he ended things with Kika. Where is Lili? Dulce says she is with Flor Ivonne that "naquita" (ignorant thing) as if she were somebody to follow as a role model.

Anifer goes to visit Fabián. His says his heart hurts him because he is in front of his daughter and he does not know what to say to her. He admits he has done some really bad things and he is sorry but thanks to all of those mistakes she was able to find the father she really deserves (Mauricio). Anifer remembers back to when she arrived at the church. She saw him there. Why didn't he tell her then that he was her father? Mauricio watches and waits for an answer along with Anifer.

Toño and Verónica are packing up at work. She insists that they cannot just fire them for what they did. She does not want them to go down without a fight and at least try to find a way to leave with some kind of dignity and a very good severance check. They weren't fired for the quality of their work. Tina comes in without her stutter when she is gossiping but starts to stutter again when she tells Toño that Bustamante wants to see him alone. Toño goes to Bustamante's office and lets him have it. He asks if Bustamante wants to talk about unfair labor practices or bullying? Bustamante was talking with Mr. Restrepo and they have decided to give Toño a second chance, not Verónica, just him.

Fabián admits it is his fault that Anifer cannot see him as her father. He just wants her to have a good memory of him. Anifer talks about Fabián's surgery and getting well and working on his robot. Fabián says he will need Renée's help. Fabián is surprised to hear that Renée told Anifer that she is his sister. Mauricio thinks it is time to go.

Toño wonders why only he and not both of them is being given a second chance if they both made the same mistake at the same time. According to Bustamante, if Verónica stays there will be gossip. The difference is that he is a man and she is a woman. They all know that most women in high positions of responsibility fail because they let themselves get carried away by their feelings. That is what happened with Verónica. It was her job to control the situation with Toño and she didn't. They all respect Verónica a lot. That is why it is better for her just to leave. That does not fly with Toño. He makes it clear that he will be leaving with his wife along with a proper severance payment for both of them.

Raquel and Rodrigo are with other prospective parents hearing all about adopting a child from a representative at an orphanage.

Bustamante is now lecturing Toño about how he and his wife broke the rules and if he thinks they are getting some kind of millionaire severance agreement, they have another thing coming. He just wants them to sign a resignation letter or Bustamante and Restrepo could talk about what happened and Verónica would be the one who will be most affected. Toño calls it as he sees it: a threat. Toño leaves with a swagger and a smile.

Anifer has a favor to ask Fabián. She asks if Mauricio can manufacture the toy he designed with her at the Logatoys facility. Mauricio tries to downplay her request but Fabián says he would be pleased to open the doors at Logatoys to them. Mauricio insists he has asked Fabián for nothing.

Renée is putting up missing posters of Noél. Ariel pops up and it turns out he has been following her to make sure she was okay because she looked upset earlier. He admits to being a stalker but only on special occasions. She is happy that he has postponed his trip. He has decided to leave for the USA when she leaves so that he can spend more time with her. He helps out with the missing posters.

Verónica cannot believe what a backward machista Bustamante is. She is so grateful to Toño for standing up to him on her account. Jorge will not take a job just for himself. They are a team together until death! As they are kissing, Bustamante comes in with resignation letters. No, they are not going to sign the letters. They are going to sue the company.Veronica tells Bustamante to forward their personal effects to them. They should all be sent to the same address, of course.

Rafael wants to discuss whether they want a boy or a girl. Rodrigo only wants a child to love. He tells Rafael not to be concerned with what others are going to think they should do. Rafael says he is right. He is worried about the reaction towards them being gay parents. Rodrigo says that attitudes are what they are and are never going to change. The important thing is that they can adopt a child.

Ariel brings Renée home in his car, after distributing the missing posters, at the same time that Mauricio and Anifer arrive. Anifer says they went to see Fabián. Mauricio mentions that Ariel was supposed to have left for the USA yesterday. Ariel mentions that a very powerful reason made him change his plans. Mauricio can only imagine "the reason's" name. Renée says they are talking about solidarity and not possessiveness. Mauricio would do the same for María, wouldn't he? Yes, he would and so much more; they are so united and solid . . . Renée goes to her house with Ariel. Anifer leads Mauricio home while he is processing it all.

Kika is in bed filling her "emptiness" with ice cream. Charytín suggests going back to Miami or somewhere else. Kika is okay right where she is.

Verónica and Toño talk to Jorge about what their legal chances are if they sue Restrepo. Verónica says they would have to give them a severance payment or something, right? Jorge will look into the matter but he has to tell them that Restrepo will have an army of lawyers and it will turn into a long hard fight. Verónica is ready fo it. They are ready to take Restrepo to court. Dulce is there listening, of course, and congratulates them on giving their marriage new life. Of course, she is commenting for Jorge's benefit. Jorge tells her that their case if very different because Toño and Verónica pretended to be lovers while in their case, that is not exactly what Dulce did. Dulce reminds him of his infidelity with Yuriria and the fight is on.

Mauricio brings María up to date on the Fabián visit with Anifer. He was n his good behavior. She was worried about what kind of ideas he would try to put into Anifer's head. María sees it as normal that he would want to see more of Anifer. Mauricio does not know if that is such a good idea. He is worried that Fabián might want to use Anifer so María does not sue him. Mauricio makes it clear that it is totally María's decision to sue Fabián or not.

At Nerón's, Lili brings Pablo ads for apartments that she has found by walking around the neighborhood. He takes one look at what she has brought him and tells her they are a pipe dream with the amount of money that he earns. She reminds him of her inheritance she is going to have. Pablo looks very uncomfortable with it all. Renée and Ariel stop to drop off some missing posters for Nerón to put up at his business. Nerón tells Renée that don Bosco and Aurora had Mauricio at an older age just like don Noél and his wife Cristina had Fabián. Maybe that is why the two couples got along so well: they had their two boys when they were older.

Esperanza is stuck watching the kids and trying to cook at the same time. Uh, oh, did Fidelito eat some buttons or not?

María tells Mauricio that Verónica and Toño's company just wasn't for her. She still wants to go back to her town where she feels useful and alive. Mauricio says she can feel useful and alive bring a resident of Mexico City (chilanga). Anifer wonders how they could be novios and kiss if María were in Chiapas and Mauricio were here. They just don't think! María reminds Mauricio that they never clarified the novio matter with her. Mauricio asks should they clarify things now or give it a try first. María kisses Mauricio hard on the lips before he can give and articulate answer.

At the same time, Ariel gives Renée another kiss, this time a goodbye kiss which makes him want to stay longer. He mentions how sad she looked. Renée is worried because she has no idea where Noél is and if she finds him, then what does she do? Then there is Fabián and his issues. Ariel tells her to take things step by step. He also tells her that she is not obligated to do anything. Renée does not agree and says they are her family. Ariel sees them as recently found family and,for him, families are formed by love not by blood.

Anifer catches Mauricio and María kissing. Anifer thinks that she should go tell Renée so she can kiss Ariel. María asks if she wants Renée to end up with Ariel. Anifer says sure because Renée is always happy with him. Mauricio says well if they are happy, good for them! María says she has never seen this jealous side of him. Mauricio denies feeling any jealousy. Mauricio leaves and Anifer mentions how jealous Mauricio is. María adds "very" jealous.

Verónica and Toño come in and suddenly Fidelito is being take by his parents to the hospital for having possibly eaten buttons.

It is dinner at Jorge's, and it is a dinner from hell. Samuel starts out with saying he never did really like Kika. Baldo has to talk about the inheritance and Lili abut Pablo getting an apartment, etc. Dulce has to put her two cents in wherever she can and ferret out more information. Jorge finally excuses himself from the table because he and his stomach just cannot take it.

Toño calls Esperanza from the hospital and nastily criticizes her for not watching the kids well enough. Before they know it, Fidelito is being released. He didn't eat any buttons.

María confronts Mauricio with the fact that Mauricio is in love with Renée. It is evident that he is jealous because of Ariel. She asks him if Renée knows that theyare no longer going out. Mauricio says if she is happy with Ariel what would it matter. María reminds him that Renée is the love of his life. If he is willing to sacrifice himself for her happiness, that is real love. María also adds that she found out that she is not in love with Mauricio either with that kiss. Maybe it was just their shared love for Anifer that gave them the feelings they had for each other that they confused with romantic love. Mauricio is so relieved. They both laugh.

Back at the hospital, Renée tells Fabián about the missing posters. Fabián thinks their father will just show up as if nothing has happened because he has psychological problems. He wanted to die when Fabian's mother died. Renée asks if he did not get professional help or help from his friends like don Bosco. Fabián said he had a falling out with don Bosco over business when before that they were inseparable. Fabián asks Renée, if something happens to him, to always look after Anifer for him even though she is with Mauricio. Renée agrees. Renée has another question: has he thought how he is going to take care of his father if he reappears?

Noél decides to make a run for it with his cane.

This was the kissiest episode ever. I felt sorry for Esperanza and the “button” incident. She needs to go home, libe her own life, come to visit on the holidays and be treated like a guest. Kika in bed with her ice cream was the best! I do not trust Fabián. I hope Noél makes his escape.

Jarifa, thank you for a great recap. It was definitely the kissiest episode ever. And you are right, "Kika in bed with her ice cream was the best!" I loved the upset little girl voice she used to say "No!" to Charytín's suggestions to get over the heartache.

I don't know what I think about Vero and Toño at this point, other than they are being unfair to Esperanza. Of course the TN is laying that on a bit thick, and Esperanza's frustration as well.

How much longer until Esmeralda? Oh, that long? The same for Samson and Delilah?

andy

Thanks Jarifa. I always appreciate that you include some vocabulary. Muchas gracias for "chilanga". Haven't seen this yet but will look forward to the ice cream scene. Any scene with Kika is fun. Any scene with Dulce is NOT.

Sounds like we can look forward to a reconciliation between our Lukewarm Lovers Renee and Mauricio very soon.

Hope your weather in Chicago is like ours. Beautifully cool this morning even though we'll hit 80 this afternoon. Have a great day Patio, no matter what the weather is in your parts.

thank you, Jarifa, for that excellent recap of all action.

Dulce is hateful and arrogant. She just assumes that she is back in her rightful place after running away from it so selfishly with her criminal loved and ignoring her kids . Serving coffee☕ like the Happy Homemaker. What a fraud. I need for her to get a really big anvil.👿

Kiki consoling herself with ice cream 🍦🍦🍦was funny.

Sisters can be big blabbermouths.

Another Gem from you Jarifa, much better than the episode, much of which I missed because I just zone out with Y&T and R&R. Thank you so much, as it seems I can stomach reading it but just can't watch Vero and Tono.

I will try not to rant: "As they were not fired because of the quality of their work", (what work?) but rather hopping on company time, along with a laundry list of other fireable offenses.

1. They did not work when they were there, so the quality is a non-point.
2. Buster could have fired them because they were not working when they were supposed to be.
3. Lied about the Nepotism issue
4. Banging at work HAS to be in the company list of prohibited activities whether you are married or not.
5. Severance? Are you two frigging delusional? Most companies would call security and march you out as soon as you (maybe) got your clothes back on. You would find a box in the parking lot the next day with your 'things' in it with your name on it.

I have fired or laid off a LOT of people, and been fired and let go myself, and after someone is no longer welcome you do not let them have free run of your business to foment ill will or spread whatever they are fired for. Sometimes there can be real sabotage.

In a simple reduction of force, as when you have staffed for a prospective contract which evaporates, you can give people time to pack and say goodbye, maybe a few hours or the remainder of the day. But otherwise, they really have no business being there. And then you do owe them severance or help finding a new job or something.

Go Noel Go Noel crafty old curmudgeon.

Poor little Kika. Sisters are so much fun. Does Esmeralda have one? Woof

Speaking of weather, it rained capriciously for two weeks here. Note: Our rain is usually very predictable, between 4 and 6 in the evening for thirty minutes, max, fondly referred to as our "Rush Hour Shower".

This allows you to plan your activities around that schedule. IE being caught out on the water in a boat with driving rain and an electrical storm should only happen to you once, either way. Lately it has rained all hours of the day and night without warning, then Poof, yesterday clear as a bell and back to nineties. ? ? ?

NOW, with loveable Hurricane season a week away, an "Invest(igate) 90" has formed off the Yucatan peninsula and announced it's plans to strengthen and move NorthEast. Oh Joy, Oh Joy.

It is heartening to see that the patio in general is having good weather.

Freudian slip? Y&T: Yolanda and Tono? I meant V&T
I do yearn for bounci Yoli, there was just something about her. Well maybe two.

We soldier on with this novela, don’t we? Thanks, everyone, for stopping on by the patio this beautiful Thursday. Did anyone watch Longmire? I felt like saying: It is another beautiful day at the Red Pony Saloon and continual soirée. We do have a continual soirée here, don’t we? I do digress . . . Anyway, thank goodness it was just one episode last night.

We are mid 80’s today and then we are going for a few days around 90 and humid: very Florida-ish, Kirby. Guess spring is over already as usual.

The writers sure dropped the ball on Renée and Mauricio. I feel sorry for the actors.

Well, it is off to enjoy the weather while it is still comfortable.

More later.

Thank you, Jarifa.

Weary of the characters marching in place. Would welcome a change, Yolanda, Esmeralda, anything.

Everybody knows that Fabian is sneaky and manipulative, hateful and envious. He is down and cornered. How do you expect him to behave? Of course, the way he is now! Act all changed and asking for pity. I believe his hate and desire for vengeance is stronger than ever. You don't show pity to an enemy and allow him to regroup.

Thank you for your recrap, Jarifa. Great title. And seriously, thank you for watching so that I won’t have to. This is one of those episodes where I would be sorely tempted to throw something at my TV.

Well, I’ll FFWD to see Kika and the ice cream, since it is so highly recommended.

Seriously, I need to find my telenovela beanie hat!!!

- Mau takes Anifer to the hospital again, completely against hospital rules!

Toño & Vero think they can sue Bustamente, after they LIED and broke the NO-Nepotism rule??? They don’t have a leg to stand on. Nookie on the office floor is one example of why there are no-nepotism rules. Duh.

Kirby – you’re right about not letting people hang around the office once they’ve been laid off or fired.
Oh, and welcome to our weather patterns. We've had an entire "Spring" like you described. (ack!)

Mau/Maria/Renee/Ariel --- Oh good grief, this is all so . . . eighth grade!

What ever happened to Ernesto’s ADD and the therapist? Was I asleep at the wheel? Senior moment?

I'll work off this telenovela frustration in Pilates today. Ggggrrrrrr.......

Lucid Lucio you are sooo right about Fakian. Do these 'eight graders' expect him to lay there almost totally immobilized and threaten them with his diabolical plans once he gets into his rocket powered wheelchair?

"You don't show pity to an enemy and allow him to regroup." Exactly. Like "I shot you in self defense because you were trying to shoot ME. I'm sorry, here let me give you a couple liters of MY blood to keep you alive now."

Doris does Ben and Jerry's carry Pilates? What does it taste like? I heard it is halfway between Pralines and Cream and Fudge Sundae. Yum.

Good Morning, All! Jarifa, thank you for another of your excellent recaps. Stopping by quickly to read comments which echo my thoughts, BTW, since Ineed to go work on the yard which is starting to look like a jungle. Weather around the country is never the same is it? Mid 90's expected in the RGV today and expecting to hit the 3-digit temps by Monday.

Totally agree with everyone's comments regarding Dulce, V&T and Fakian, so FFW->->->

I am starting to dread scenes with Anifer. Though she's cute, I just can't take seeing that little adult in a child's body anymore. So now she's giving advice to Mau and trying to help his business??? Blech!

Kika rocks even when she whines...let him go and move on, Kika! Kirby, has your ride ready to go :-)

Doris, so many things have been dropped in this TN.

Good to see that most of the patio is going to have a nice day. It is gorgeous here ...sunny, clear, .mild with temps in the 80s. More rain predicted for the weekend and next week, so we must enjoy today.

As for ice cream...make mine coffee (expresso, cappuccino) with dark chocolate bits. Edy's makes a delicious one.

I think that midway through this show, the writers found Kiki and Jorge more interesting than vanilla Renee and Maury who has evidently been gelded. Then, they decided the Bickersons were going to break up to make up as the song goes. I know that they have three young kids and abuela at home , but ..geez...they have the whole long night together in bed to bunnyhop in privacy and comfort. Instead, they decide that canoodling on the dirty office carpet is a good idea. So dumb.

Yes, Kirby, my older daughter has been a risk manager and computer programmer for some big companies , and she explained to me how people she has seen let go are told to clear out their desks the same day and escorted out by security never to return.

Chickie, how is your flock? The news showed a bobcat resting on someone's front porch chair yesterday. They thought that it might be someone's pet because it seemed docile.

" porch chair yesterday. They thought that it might be someone's pet because it seemed docile."
Check it's collar, does it say Fabian?

Susy, in many companies someone will notice they are locked out of the server on the network, or their password to login suddenly does not work and in a panic wonder if they are being let go, as that is sometimes the first sign.

People are kept off the company network so that they can not do any further damage, or start to do something vindictive when they see the handwriting on the wall.

Like: "Hey Mike, could you login just now? I couldn't, have you heard anything?" (sweating bullets)

I lived through the buyout / merger craze years ago, and nobody's job was safe no matter where you were on the ladder or how valuable you were. And everyone lived in constant fear of suddenly being put out on the street back then, as these consolidations were typically kept as secret as possible until the ax fell.

Kirby..ha...yes, both Fab and the bobcat might just being playing possum !

I have just stopped caring about these people and Their destinies.

Something that I have noticed is that when I first started watching telenovelas , they were often about large families often living together. The focus here is on neighbors, bosses, and coworkers. Renee, Maury, Fab, and Ani are only children. Is this change reflecting the change in culture....fewer children, .More time spent at work, women in workforce, less contact with extended family..aunts, uncles, cousins that we saw in Mi Marido?

Gelded? Nice

I stayed up late (celebrating the Celtics win)hoping to catch your recap Jarifa. It appears you posted this right after I turned in.

Another jewel. Pure and simple.

"He admits to being a stalker but only on special occasions" and "backward machista Bustamante" were among many favorites.

"Dulce says she is with Flor Ivonne that "naquita" (ignorant thing) as if she were somebody to follow as a role model". Charming.

"Toño leaves with a swagger and a smile". So did I - that strut and self satisfied smirk were highlights for me.

"Kika is in bed filling her "emptiness" with ice cream". I’ve been there. Now that you’ve had your sweet, pretty sugar, get up and get going. You have a man to reclaim. And Dulce fights dirty. "Kika rocks even when she whines" - excellent RgvChick!

"Mau/Maria/Renee/Ariel --- Oh good grief, this is all so . . . eighth grade!" Yes it is Kirby. Well said. At this point, I just don't care much who ends up with who. However, as Maria realizes she doesn't love Mau and that Mau does love Renee, I think she has vacated her death warrant.

I would not trust Fabian for a NY minute.

Go Noel go.

What fine fun Jarifa. Thank you!

Diana

I think Doris came up with the Eighth Grade line, and it is so true. But, um..Thanks on her behalf. :-)

Kika rocks even when she whines. Yesss. She has somehow stolen the show. Deservedly so.

I would watch another show based just on her being in it with a non trivial role.

Forget it. I think she is going back to Jorge.

:-)

OT...just as I was complaining about gas at $3.00 a gallon right before we start taking summer road trips, I got an email from a high school friend who lives in England. Gas is up to $7.50 a gallon here !I

Back to kiki..it is time to put away that frozen treat, put on one of your signature tighty tight dresses , and show Dulce why she will not weasel her back into Jorge's bed.

"back into Jorge's bed."

Yes SusanLynn, there is nothing I like more than an old fashioned Mexican Hop-Off.

I have asked it before and find myself asking it again: Why is it a “telenovela virtue” for the good guys to act stupid and “forgive” the bad guys that did them bad at least once thereby giving them the chance to do them even worse the next time around?

Jarifa....yes, the good guys are often very gullible and trusting. The villains are without scruples , sneaky sly, and bad to the bone . So, I guess that the writers equate bad👿 with clever and good👼 with stupid and and easily duped.

Susanlynn, thanks for humoring me and discussing one of my universal gripes about so many telenovelas. 😊

Thanks, Jarifa. A recap with sparkle and muchísimo mejor than last night's episode.

I'm nodding in agreement with everyone. Not one person in this TN suspects Fabian is up to his old tricks?

I need to see Jorge fighting for Kika. I don't mind her moping in bed over ice cream. She's done a yeoman's job bringing Jorge to life and into the 21st century. Now, it's his turn to fight for her, instead of sitting like a dope with Dulce at the family dinner table. Dope.

The “good” guys. I have to smile. Jarifa, I agree with you about the so-called good guys who were all not-so-good-guys at the beginning. They’re a bunch of idiots who need a hammer to their heads in order to get some semblance of brain activity and common sense going.. oh, how I miss the era of galans and true love.

I was thinking though, that this TN is about “Padres” so I can understand why a “strong, passionate” couple is not the focus. Being that saiid, I then ask why Maite has top billing instead of the four fathers.

Susy, my flock is doing ok. The game camera I set up caught some images but not too clear. I’m hoping to get a decent picture of the culprit soon so that maybe the city or the game warden will move on it. thanks for asking :-)

Chickie..I miss the romantic galans, too. Fernando Colunga as the dashing Don Luis (,be still my heart❤) in Alborado is what sent me down the rabbit hole of telenovelas Ten years ago. Then, he was the brooding, quixotic Manuel in Amor Real. Then, he was swashbuckling Captain Rick in Passion. You should get the videos of Outlander season one, two, and three. James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser is a muy mucho galan...he just happens to wear a kilt .

Kirby, did you have a night visitor? Looks like you scared him/her...or was it trying to sacre you? That blue in the background is extraordinary...just beautiful!

sacre?? sucker(punch)?? sacrifice?? Nooo...SCARE!!

And Susanna Gonzales is sexier drinking a glass of water than Renee is flouncing around with Ma..Lu..Ar..whoever.

My first TeleNovia who I fell hard for was Vanessa Guzman in 'Adventures in Time'.

Holy guacamole' that was 2001.

I heard them doing their little tremolo calls one night and went out front and there were 4 of them in the front yard tree. I took that with a flash.

Thanks

I heard them doing their little tremolo calls one night and went out front and there were 4 of them in the front yard tree. I took that with a flash. Yeah that blue is just the night sky, as it was not completely dark yet.

Thanks

In the daytime I could see all five of them.

Jarifa, thank you so much for effectively wrapping up this episode. Your title made me laugh with "kisses all around." Yes, it was a kissy-kissy episode. I am glad that Vero and Tono are fighting for their jobs and that Tono stood up for Veronica about her job after Bustamonte offered a job only to him! Such a patriarchy! He should be glad to have a husband/wife team. Of course, Tono and Vero need to tone things down with their passion at work and save it till they get home.

Kirby: Dulce planning non-stop chaos in her determination to keep Jorge I see.
