Papá a toda madre Wednesday 5/9/18 Capítulo 79: Renée Hits a Wall--OR-- Rodrigo Chooses Love

It is time for the children's performance at school and everyone is in the audience including Renée and Ariel. The principal informs the audience that after the show, there will be a presentation of educational toys from two toy companies in the gymnasium. The participation of the students will be needed to evaluate their new products. In the wings, Mauricio and Toño wonder what toy Fabián could have brought. They also wonder if he came. Nobody has seen him. Mauricio is then introduced to the audience as the person responsible for the production of the performance and as its director. Mauricio is all smiles as he tells the audience that this production was supposed to be an intensive course on how they do things on Broadway for the children but in the end the one who ended up almost failing the course was him. He learned just as much from their children as from his own daughter. He learned that each of these little monsters is somebody's child, incredible, a natural teacher, valuable, and an advisor. Also, one must remember to treat each and every one as if they were all of our children. Mauricio announces the production which the children named themselves: "Princesses Without Toads and Soccer Players Without Penalties".

Pablo is in the city on the street and shows a couple groups of young people a photo of his father Melchor. Nobody has seen him. He moves on to a homeless man sitting and drinking alcohol from a bottle on a bench. Yes, the homeless man has seen the man in the photo passing by right along there. He then chuckles and comments that he has really changed a lot. Pablo asks if he has changed here like the homeless man. The old man answers by taking another drink from his bottle.

The play continues . . . just like we would imagine with the kids mentioning plenty of good things about their families and what they say. Before we know it, thankfully, is is "Colorín colorado este cuento se ha acabado"(And they lived happily ever after) time. The audience applauds. The principal congratulates the students for the great job they did and thanks Mauricio for working with the children. Mauricio has them all take a bow and thank the audience. The principal invites everyone to the auditorium to evaluate the products from Anitoys and Logatoys. Renée is surprised hearing "Logatoys" and then notices Fabián standing in a doorway at the back of the auditorium. Renée tells her group she is going outside. She saw who she was waiting for.

The homeless man continues talking with Pablo. He does remember his father. Pablo asks if the man was into drugs or something bad. The homeless man says they were not friendly enough to know that kind of information. When he used pass by, sometimes he would bring the homeless man some food and some clothing. Pablo says his father loved to take care of other people. The homeless man suddenly remembers the last time he saw him around six months or maybe a year ago. He saw him go by with a lady. Pablo asks what she was like. Come to think of it, the homeless man doesn't really know if they were together or not. What he does know is that that lady came there for several days. He saw her at night. The homeless man then remembers it is she who came back and Pablo is asking about the man. Pablo is not sure if the homeless man is remembering correctly or not.

In the gymnasium, all of the excitement in the Professionally decorated Logatoys area. Nothing is happening at the very plain Anitoys area with a table as Jorge and Toño man it. Mauricio tries to make the most of a bad situation and tells them "Less is more". Jorge disagrees saying sometimes "More is more". A creepy wiggly butt clown comes over to offer the guys a balloon which they refuse. He leaves. Anifer goes over to give her evaluation of the Logatoys product as Toño comes back from a spying mission to inform the guys that the Logatoys product is a game made out of pile of cubes. Mauricio cannot believe it. Where is the imagination kin that? There might be a lot of money and power at Logatoys but there is also a lack of creativity. The guys see it ss only good for Anitoys. Some kids come by their table. Anifer is looking at Logatoys toys when the creepy wiggly butt clown comes by for her to be the first to evaluate the new Logatoys product. He extends his little finger so he can lead her away. She grabs it and goes with him to a separate space with a projection screen. Fabián comes in and asks Anifer is she remembers him. Yes, she does. He and her father are friends. Fabián knows that she does not probably remember much about him since she has only seen him a couple of times but he does remember her and has been thinking about her. He cannot get her out of his head. He shows her the robot plans up on the screen. She reacts with a "wow" and is clearly impressed. Her opinion is very important to him. He asks what she thinks. She thinks it would be just super.

In another part of the building, Renée happens to see the creepy wiggly butt clown take off his wig and sniff a cigar. She stops to not call attention to herself as he walks in the opposite direction.

Valentina is at school texting with "Danny" aka "Blancanieves" and "Isauro". She got out of school early. They could meet quickly. She wants to know where he is. He says he is real close as he watches her from his SUV parked on the street. She thinks that is just great.

The kids are all having a fine old time at the Anitoys/Logatoys event. They even have food and candy!!! María stops on by the Anitoy table, where kids are using the Anitoy product and drawing, asking about Anifer. Mauricio tells her she went over to the Logatoys booth. María is concerned because Fabián could be there. Mauricio says he has not arrived. María still ends up going to look for Anifer. At he same time, Fabián is explaining to Anifer that this is not any old toy. Fabián is interested in what she thinks they could add to the robot to make it a nanny, friend, playmate, to be at home when children get home so they would not feel so alone. Fabián suddenly realizes that Renée has arrived and is looking at the image on the screen. Renée tells him that she designed that robot. Fabián counters saying that she must be wrong. It is an old design of his father's that he perfected. Renée simply says that he robbed her robot plans. Anifer gives her a quick smile of approval.

María is back not happy that she has not found Anifer and tells Mauricio that Anifer was supposed to be at the Anitoys table. Mauricio informs her that all of the children were supposed to try out both products. Mauricio does not understand what the big deal is. She needs to calm down and breathe. Mauricio insists that Anifer is at her school with her friends. María knows that the place is secure but Fabián could still be there. Mauricio offers to go look for her with María.

As Fabián watches on, Renée starts to verbally take the design apart piece by piece. First of all, there is a piece on the chest that was not on his father's design, nor the digital control of the arm nor the ten jointed leg. Fabián says he had to modify the design for the twenty first century. Renée says he plagiarized her work. Anifer wants to know what that means. René says it is like copying or robbing somebody's work. She asks where he got the design from. It finally occurs to her that he was the one who orchestrated the theft of her laptop.

Valentina is all ready to meet "Danny" outside the school as he watches her from his car. He tells her to go to the corner where there is a black SUV, turn the corner and he will see her there. She starts to walk but is saved at the last minute by Samuel and Baldo telling her that Jorge wanted them to go to where the children's event was happening. She complains that they are not her bodyguards and says that she is going to meet up with that guy Danny from Facebook just to day "hi". Samuel asks if she is crazy. She says she is old enough to know what she is doing. Baldo and Samuel don't believe her. "Danny" watches it all getting aggravated.

Fabián admits he might be a thousand things but he is not a common thief especially of a former employee's cheap laptop. Renée asks how he knows it was cheap. He just smirks. Renée says he is incredible. She grabs Anifer by the arm to leave. He tells her to wait because he has permission from the principal to show the students his prototype. He asks if Anifer has something to say. Anifer shrugs and Renée drops her hand. Anifer asks him if the robot remembers if it is his friend and what they were playing. Renée takes her hand again and leads her out. Fabián is left with his thoughts: a robot with a memory to keep memories.

Anifer asks if Renée is very angry. Renée says it happens sometimes. María sees the two together and blames Renée for keeping Anifer away. Renée says she just ran into her. Mauri Renée explains that Anifer was in a separate area with Fabián. Mauricio is shocked while María gives him the well-deserved "I told you" look. Renée assures them that Anifer is just fine. She was looking at a toy design with him. Since Renée did not know if they knew that Anifer was with Fabián, she brought Anifer to them. María apologizes saying that she was just frightened. María decides to go home with Anifer. Mauricio does not know what to say to Renée first: thank her for rescuing his daughter from Fabián or to apologize for María. She tells him neither is necessary and informs him that Fabián's robot is the one that she designed based on don Noél's design. He was also the one who stole her laptop. Mauricio is ready to give Fabián a piece of his mind but Renée stops him.

Valentina is still outside the school now texting "Danny" that her brothers won't let her go and meet up with him. "Danny" thinks that is really bad and tells "his Vale" that they will have to catch up later. He will be in touch and adds that she owes him one now. Samuel wants to know where this Facebook guy is anyway. She says he saw them and left. Baldo doesn't get why them being there is a problem. He says Jorge is going to have a lot to say about it when he finds out. Valentina begs them not to tell since he is such an ogre. They agree to keep quiet and go back into the school as "Danny" is still observing it all.

Renée explains to Mauricio that Fabián took her plans and made several prototypes of the robot and wanted Anifer to help him improve it or something like that. Mauricio says that Fabián never has stopped surprising him now between this and the issue of papá Noél. Renée is just bummed out by the whole papá Noél experience and not even getting to know her father and be able to form an opinion of him. She doesn't know how she feels about him but he is her father. Mauricio agrees and is ready to get into non-Fabián issues when Rafael and Ariel arrive on the scene looking for Renée. Ariel greets Mauricio with a handshake and tells him how wonderful his toys are and what a great idea he had with the focus group at school. Mauricio thinks it is just great that they came. Mauricio asks Ariel what he is up to these days. He is taking advantage of his free time because he will be going back to school in a few months just like Renée. Mauricio looks at Renée repeating that she, too, will be leaving soon. Renée says it will be a little while but now she has to see if the Fabián matter is going to cause her problems with her graduate studies. Renée decides to leave and Ariel and Rafael go along with her. Mauricio is alone with his fading fake smile.

"Danny" is on the phone with somebody saying that the only other choice is to use the mother but the last thing he wants to do is get Dulce involved in this. Exasperated with the person on the other end of the phone, he concludes that he will have to do what he has to do.

Back at home, María is giving Anifer the third degree about Fabián. She wants to know if their conversation was about something other than the robots. Anifer assures her it was all robot talk. He wanted to know what the robot needed and if she liked it or not. María asks of she spent a lot of time with him. Anifer answers she did and he wasn't as serious as before when he and her father were friends. Also, after a little while he got angry and had a fight with Renée. It was about robots but Anifer didn't understand it very well. María tells her she does not want her spending any more time with Fabián because he has nothing to say to her. If he wants to talk to her it will be with both of them. Anifer wants to know why. Does María think that he is a bad person? María sighs and says he is not the best person so it it better to stay away from him. Anifer agrees since her mother says so . . .

At Restrepo Sistemas, Verònica is talking to Bustamante and he asks if she wants to change departments. No, she loves her job and has so much to learn by his side but Antonio Barrientos is clearly overqualified for his job and deserves something better. Bustamante will have to think it over. If he changes Antonio to another position it would be full time and he does not know if Antonio's "wifey" would allow him to do that. Verónica cringes as Bustamante laughs. Bustamante will think about it but continues with his opinion. Antonio must be with one of those "empowered" witches. He laughs hard while Verónica tries very hard to laugh along.

Renée is with her teacher trying to explain the whole problem with her project robot and Fabián's claiming it as his own. Everything new in the design was hers. She had the design copyrighted in Mexico but has no idea if the original was copyrighted before and if Fabián has a right to it. Renée understands but her teacher is the only one who understands the policies of both the university here and the one in Maryland. Her teacher tells her that if Fabián says he inherited the robot design from his father and that he made all of the changes, Renée will end up looking like the plagiarist. Renée says this is all that she needed and it could end up with her losing her place in the master's program yet again. Her teacher tells her to be very careful with Fabián and try not to expose herself to any danger. If all else fails, Renée and Fabián could come to an "agreement." Renée does not see that as possibility since she has no money to bargain with. Her teacher says sometimes lawsuits are all about recognition and not necessarily money so Renée does have something to bargain with. For example, it might all come down to including Fabián's father's name on the product along with hers to give him credit. Renée concludes that maybe Fabián would stop all of this if he knew the design was staying in the family so to speak.

At a meeting of the cooperative, Mauricio is telling the group that Fabián's robot is pretty useless right now from what he heard from Renée. It is way too complicated. Mauricio turns the topic to how Fabián is obsessed with being just like him. He copies the good, the bad . . .He needs to be just like him. María tries to get them back on track by asking if they are happy that the competition has ended up like this. Should they not be discussing more serious issues? María is exasperated with the guys laughing at Fabián and wonders if they can get anything intelligent done or if they are just into joking around. She leaves.

Fabián is at the office telling Falcón that Anifer talked about friendship. Falcón says that all sounds really nice but how will that be incorporated in the robot reminding him of the productions costs and making it a more expensive product to sell. Fabián sees Anifer being a visionary just like his father. Thanks to her the papá-mamá doll was a success. Falcón says that the advice was good but she is not infallible. They cannot just go by what a little girl says. Fabián disagrees because this is not any little girl. It is his daughter. The phone rings. Gladys tells him Kika is there. Kika comes in before Fabián can hang up on Gladys. She read the whole brief and it was awesome. She could be all ready to invest bu first she has a few little questions for him. Falcón excuses himself. Fabián cannot keep his eyes off of the beautiful Kika as he escorts her to a sofa. He is ready to hear her questions.

María has returned to the meeting. Things are going better. Mauricio says that their results were good but now they have to try to incorporate the best suggestions that Mauricio mentioned. María asks if they have the money to do that. Jorge goes through his maddening yes/no/maybe routine and ends up talking about selling the license to the papá-mamá doll as the only way to get their next product made. Mauricio does not like the word "product" and wants to call it their next "success." Toño is concerned with them failing. Mauricio has the faith that they will not fail because they are such an incredible team. They work hard. It is all going to turn out well for them . . . isn't it? Nobody looks confident.

At the hospital, Florvidente and Nerón are seeing her doctor. Her doctor has good news. She is in remission. He will still be seeing her to monitor her progress and to continue with testing. He congratulates them.

Fabián wants to engage in some more interesting activity before talking business but Kika is interested in seeing a professional plan complete with the numbers, the figures, the monetary yield, the balance before she would be able to invest. Fabián has it all on his computer and he can send it to her to look over of if she wants they can look it over together in a much more romantic spot. She calls him a "naughty boy" and tells him how tempting that is but before doing anything else she wants to start familiarizing herself with the information. He is disappointed because that will take hours. She insists it will just take her a New York minute but cannot he offer her something to drink like a mimosa
or whatever he has. Fabián will have Gladys take are of it. Kika is not impressed that she is not important enough for him to take care of her order himself for . As he goes to get her drink himself, she wants him to bring up the information on his computer so she can be checking the information she needs while he is gone for her drink. he logs in o hs computer and tells her it is all hers. She thanks him and calls him handsome and then gets to work. She is very excited as she sees "transfers" and everything.

Rodrigo runs into Jorge outside their homes and asks if he has heard anything from Pablo. They only know he made it over the border. Rodrigo asks how Lili and the unborn baby are doing. Jorge says they are doing well and asks Rodrigo how the adoption process is going. Rodrigo says it's going. They started some adoption processes at an orphanage so now they are waiting for to see what they say. Jorge does not want to be a busybody but they haven't been successful, right? Rodrigo agrees. It has been a combination of everything from bad luck to discrimination. What could be bad about them just wanting to have a child; a child they could hug, love and give all that they have? Rodrigo adds that this adoption effort has caused him and Rafael a lot of problems as a couple. It might cause them to break up. Rodrigo excuses himself. Jorge calls him back telling him that having a child is a great responsibility, it is no small thing, it is not a bed of roses. There are those thorns. Rodrigo just laughs and asks if Jorge is going to give him a sermon. No, Jorge just has a question. Why would a gay couple want to complicate their life? Jorge thought they would want a more wild lifestyle. Rodrigo tells him he is wrong. Jorge accepts that and says that the greatest gift that God has given them is the family. One must be very brave to bring children into this world. They become so important that one would defend them tooth and claw and love them with one's entire soul. A smiling Rodrigo tells Jorge that he has alone has removed his doubt. That is how he and Rafael want to form their family: with pure love. Rodrigo thanks him and leaves. Jorge does not quite get what he is thanking him for.

Kika is having a great time on the computer when Fabián returns with her mimosa and a salad. She was just reviewing the numbers and from what she can see everything is just super duper which just gives a person confidence to invest. She thanks him for going for her drink himself. She wants to know if he is all ready for the mega-event at Logatoys. Fabián says it is going to be just spectacular. She remarks what a difference that is from Mauricio and his sad little populist cooperative. Fabián makes it clear that he has no interest in talking about Mauricio when it is just him and Kika alone together. He wants to talk about the two of them. After she eats her salad they could do some more interesting things. She tells him to just calm down and wait just a little while longer. She does not like to mix pleasure and work if she is going to invest her millions in such a wonderful product. She gets up to leave. He gives her the tray with the untouched mimosa and salad to take along which she does. She excuses herself adding that the life of a businesswoman is very difficult and she has a matter she to attend to. Fabián sits down at his computer and sighs wondering what Kika got into on his computer.

Mauricio is talking with Anifer and María telling Anifer that they still do not have a good name for the digital bracelet. Anifer said her friends came up with some names but they were so bad even she has forgotten them. Mauricio says that is proof they they were all the wrong name because if they had had the correct name Anifer would be repeating it just like the parakeet that she is. María has no ideas either, looks bored and says that marketing is his thing. Then Anifer mentions that Mauricio and María are acting real strange. They both vociferously deny it. Nothing wrong here! She finally tells them both to just shut up already. They are sad, or angry or both. Mauricio lies and says he is just a little worried because they do not have the name for the bracelet yet, no money and a thousand other things but aside from that, all is well. María says she is going to summarize the observations from the focus group to clarify what they need to do. Anifer concludes that they are not angry. "Of course not" is the response from Mauricio and María. María takes the opportunity to explain to her that sometimes people get on each other's nerves or have differences but it is an "adult" thing and if that were to happen between her father and her, then they would have to think about what to do. Anifer is afraid that if they were angry with each other, they would end up splitting up. A guilty María and a guilty Mauricio are silent.

Renée is talking about her robot problem with Ariel. They need to look for differences with "Charlie" which is the name of her robot and Fabián's robot. If Fabián decides to sue her for plagiarism using her thesis design from her laptop, then she is "fried". Ariel asks to see the design so he can help her. He asks about the functionality of the hand as Renée explains that "Charlie" was created for autistic children. It is very important that the hand is mobile so that a child can manipulate it.

Rodrigo and Rafael have arrived home as Renée and Ariel are working. They are having a heated discussion about getting their feelings out in the open. Rafael says everything is fine because he knows that Rodrigo doesn't want to hear what he has to say, so he just doesn't say anything. A smiling Rodrigo says if he asks him how he is feeling it is because he is thinking a lot about what they discussed. He needs to slow down. For Rafael the decision is black and white: either they continue together or they get divorced. A still smiling Rodrigo asks a reluctant Rafael to just come with him and asks him to calm down. Rafael repeats that if it is over, just to tell him and get it over with. Rodrigo takes Rafael to the Ministerio Público building because that is where the state adoption offices are located as well as other federal and local government offices including the police department. Rodrigo takes advantage of the situation to proudly introduce Rafael as the man he chose to be his husband in the lobby to all of his colleagues. There is silence all around as his colleague at the info desk asks if he is kidding. Rodrigo says no way. Rafael is his husband and they have come to inquire about adopting a child. They grab each other's hands and go to the appropriate office as his surprised colleagues really have nothing to say.

Florvidente and Nerón have all of the guys and Renée over (except for Rafael and Rodrigo who are MIA) to give them the good news about Florvidente's remission. Florvidente repeats what she once said "A weed. . ." and they all finish it "never dies." They all cheer and are happy for her. Florvidente wonders if she is going to lose her powers now that she will not be getting chemo anymore. Nerón informs them all that his Florvidente can see the future. Mauricio asks her how she sees their cooperative going. Florvidente concentrates and says something is telling her that this cooperative is going to . . .

Comments:
Fabián just doesn’t lose a step, does he? I loved Kika going on her recon mission but was disappointed that Fabián did not fall for the ruse.

The creepy wiggly butt clown reminded me of Pennywise from “It”. That clown was not cute or friendly. It was nasty! I was creeped oit when Anifer went with him willingly.

Mauricio got on my last nerve when he kept telling María that there was nothing to worry about where Anifer was because she was so safe at the school. Sure.

I felt sorry for Renée who looked like she had been bludgeoned after realizing that she had been bested by Fabián yet again and the far reaching implications of her not having her design for grad school. No house, no design, no father. What else will he try to take from her?

María was so right about the guys not getting anything done in their meeting. What time wasters! As my mother used to say :” They talk a good job”.

I was sorry that they cut the Verónica/Bustamante scene. That was a hoot .

Jarifa, thank you very much for another excellent recap, and for telling us about some things LooneyVision chose to hide from us. Grrr...

You were very definitely right about that creepy clown. I'm not a fan of clowns anyway and this one was really creepy, worse even than Ronald.

Good news for FlorIvón! It was very nice to hear that she's doing well!

So-so news for us: no PATM Thursday night, preempted for fútbol again. <<<+++

I wish I had known that beforehand, I would have watched this episode Thursday. I was out last night living la vida loca [dinner with some scruffy old friends, a quick shopping trip to Trader Joe's, and a few other errands; la vida loca ain't what it used to be] and then I burned the midnight DVR so as to not fall behind on my TNs again. THEN they say see what next happens on FRIDAY. Sheesh.

Thanks Jarifa. Wow your mom must be a pistol!--love her observation on time wasters that "they talk a good job". Sounds like a strong woman who gets things done and has no patience with the all talk and no action crowd.

"Jorge goes through his maddening yes/no/maybe routine and ends up talking about selling the license to the papá-mamá doll as the only way to get their next product made."

I can see how Jorge's speech patterns would drive you crazy, but isn't it interesting that both he and Kika do have such unusual ways of speaking? Another sign that they are meant to be together. For me, I hear music. His is staccato with a back n forth beat, hers is wide ranging and melodic. I enjoy both. Renee is the one who drives me crazy with her mush mouth and runny oatmeal delivery.

Thanks for including "Colorin, colorado...." I love that expression and find it much more interesting than "they lived happily ever after". "Once upon a time" is "era una vez", no?

Anyway, thanks so much busy lady. I have a feeling you are like your mama, a lady who gets things done pronto!

Oh and Andy Banda, I laughed about how your "vida loca" has changed. Yep, time catches up with all of us, even though we were SURE we would be the exception.

Thank you, Jarifa, for that detailed recap.

I am glad that Flor is in remission.I

The clown was supercreepy, and I did not like Maury's attitude that Maria shouldn't worry about Fabian getting to Ani.

Later.

Andy, they keep on popping up at the last minute with scheduling those soccer games. Thanks for the info.

I would expect the creepy wiggly butt clown to have rotten teeth if we ever got a close up.

Well, the sun is out and it looks to be a beautiful spring day. Time to get out of here and enjoy it.

JudyB, my mother was the strongest person I have ever known. She has been gone almost nine years but her sayings and good advice are embedded in my brain. Yes, she was a pistol. : )

What an interesting musical comparison between the speech patterns of Jorge and Kika! I understand what you are saying and it is fascinating. As for “Once upon a time”, it is usually “Érase una vez . . .” , just another one of those prepackaged predetermined idioms.

Susanlynn, yes! Florvidente being in remission was the best.

Thank You Jarifa This one was The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Little Valentina does not know that her brothers saved her, count your blessings.

I'm going to miss Flor's wigs. Strange hair is almost as erotic as on your desk at work.

Gotta Love Kika, even if 'Some Parts Imported'. She uses every asset she has available. No One Trick Pony her. Smart. Seemingly Waaaay smarter than her attorney Boyfriend. He might be OK if he ever pulls his head out . Though he is not a trial attorney, I could never see Jorge in a courtroom in front of a Jury.

I wonder where that Laura chick shops.

Susy, it has been perilously close to ninety, YES 90, degrees here the last few days. And no rain, hot and dry.

Satan

Andy..at least your vida loca is better than mine at the moment. Yesterday, the guy removed the tree from the farmhouse roof. It is worse than we first thought. Half the roof collapsed. It was a very old house. Now, we have to get everything out before the house is condemned . Not a very happy job to go through my parents ' things and dispose of them. We have already had to do that for my inlaws, aunt, and grandmother.😖😞😒 C',est vie,n',est pas?

Perfect Jarifa. Excellent title.

"creepy wiggly butt clown", "Fabián is left with his thoughts: a robot with a memory to keep memories" and "Mauricio is alone with his fading fake smile" were all gems.

I agree with Judy that your mother sounds wonderful. I'm sure you miss her, especially on mother's day...My mother has been gone for 22 years and not a day goes by that I don't miss her.

Yes, clown WAS Pennywise! Ack.

Best moment? Flor in remission. Hooray!

"Dann...saying that the only other choice is to use the mother but the last thing he wants to do is get Dulce involved in this. Exasperated with the person on the other end of the phone, he concludes that he will have to do what he has to do". So, we know Dulce is no part of this particular morbid plan, but is he saying he won't hurt Dulce but will hurt her child???

I share your concern for Renee. You are right - Fabian has stripped her of everything. Except her kindness. Fabian is starting to realize what a jewel Anifer is. That makes me fear that he will put her world in upheaval by revealing the odious truth he is her father. I cannot wait for his anvil.

"He learned that each of these little monsters is somebody's child, incredible, a natural teacher, valuable, and an advisor". Syrupy sweet? Not, but very cute.
“Antonio must be with one of those "empowered" witches. He laughs hard while Verónica tries very hard to laugh along”. I however, am frowning and sticking my finger down my throat. Blech.

I was happy that Rod showed off Rafa to his colleagues. Rafa needed that.

"For me, I hear music. His is staccato with a back n forth beat, hers is wide ranging and melodic". Judy, you often leave me speechless. This is one of those times. Incredible.

The cooperative seems to have the desire but not the steam. Is it going to be left to Kika to propel the little group to the next level?

"la vida loca ain't what it used to be". Andy, I laughingly say I agree with you. Back in the day, it was out many nights with not a care in the world and little sleep. If I am not home by 8 now, it's a rare occasion.

I was happy to see Jorge give Rodrigo such honest but surprisingly passionate advice. I have no doubt he would sacrifice anything for his children.

I kind of want Pablo to meet up with daddy (who may be not so dearest) so he and Lili's storyline can move forward.

Jarifa, thank you! This was great.

Diana

Kirby . I cannot stand the heat. 90 would have me cranky and lethargic.

Gorgeous here..a perfect spring day ...sunny, clear, and 74. All the pink and white flowering trees are beautiful.

Susanlynn, I'm sorry.

Yes, going through a loved one's belongings is difficult and brings back so many memories! I feel your pain. Thinking of you and sending caring thoughts...

"No One Trick Pony her" sums up Kika very well Kirby.

Diana

Susy, how sad. The old farmhouse was your parents' house,? Where you grew up? It isn't worth saving?

It broke my heart when the aunts and uncles finally sold the land where my Grandparents house is/was, as that is where I spent a lot of my childhood, with Granny and PawPaw. I drove out and looked at it about ten years ago and it was this dinky ramshackle little old farmhouse with a rusty tin roof. It just didn't look anything like the happy memories I have of the front porch.

Luuuurve Kika. Another PSA?

'Don't Judge a Book by it's Cover',

or even if the label says 'Some parts Imported' it can still be a good deal.?

Thank you for your recap, Jarifa! Your mom sounds like she was a wise, wonderful lady.

Looneycision was back, up, and running on the tv last night. Yay!

"Rafael says everything is fine" --- just like whenever any woman says "fine"...(not!). 😉

So Dulce doesn't know about Danny/Facebook/Isauro. That's to her credit.

Clowns. Ewww. They completely creep me out, including Ronald McD. 🤡🤡🤡

I was worried Kira's mimosa might have been spiked with a drug.

Interesting to follow the robot design story as it relates to intellectual property, copyrights, etc. Renee did use Noel's robot as a starting point but Fabian has outright stolen it.

Such a relief that our 🌸Flor🌸 is in remission. She and Kika are my favorite characters. Both are our unexpected Voices of Reason.

Ot...kirby..yes ...it is the farmhouse on the farm where I grew up on 117 acres. Hub and I built our house on the property around the corner two years after we were married..The farmhouse is over 100 years old , and my dad kept the barn up better than the house. This past winter the water pipes froze and flooded the kitcben. Now, the massive tree destroyed the slate roof. Uff, we just have to clear everything out. Exhausting and sad. Hub, our girls, and I have lots of good memories.. birthdays, ho!idays, picnics. I picked lots of potatoes and sweetcorn, swam in the pond, swung on the tires My dad hung from the trees, played with puppies and cats on the lawn, kissed my beau on the big front porch. Relatives and friends of both my mother and dad loved to come to the farm. Family reunions..Easter egg hunts....huge vegetable gardens. Now it will be sold. I am sad.

Kirby: Fabian still plotting near terrorist plots yet ?

Good Morning, Everyone! Thank you, Jarifa for sharing your talent and wit with us.

You all have already touched on everything I had noted--

Creepy clown--was that Falcon at his creepiest?

Flor---YAY!! She lives!!

Mauricio was a total idiot not worrying about Anifer because the "school is safe." Just goes to show that he has so much more to learn about kids and being a dad.

I finally agreed with Maria, the Ice Queen. The men were like little gerbils spinning their wheels and getting nowhere.

Fabian is despicable. Tacher has that evil smirk down pat..I can't stand it when he smiles.

Kika, the industrial spy, scores big. I hope Fabian doesn't go after her like he has with Renee and Mau. Once he sets his sights on destroying someone, he is relentless and heartless.

Susy, my thoughts will be with you as you go through your parent's belongings. It is so hard to let go of so many precious things that bring back a memory or two. My mom passed 9 years ago and her room is pretty much still in tact.

Val was lucky...this time. She is set on meeting Danny...who will rescue her next time??

Andy, I never really experienced a "vida loca" so can you image what my life is like now? BOOORING!! LOL

Kirby, so nice to open up this page to a beautiful soaring bird...so carefree and not a worry in the world.

♪♪Oh I wish I were a pretty soaring bird
That is what I'd truly like to be
Cuz if I were a pretty soaring bird
Everyone would be in love with me.♪♪

Do you all remember the song from the Oscar Mayer Wiener ad...from looong ago?? :-)

Susy, such wonderful memories you have ((((HUGSSS))))

Oh yeah and the WeinerMobile, which these days sounds naughty..

Susy...........

Yes, all of those things and going to town on Saturday and then to the skating rink on Saturday night. Following Grandpa around asking ten THOUSAND kid questions. God Bless Grandparents. Far and away the happiest days of my life.

Susanlynn, I also keep thinking of your father who saved all the unwanted dogs, cats and others dropped off at your house!

How wonderful you have such cherished memories...

Sounds like a house full of love....

Diana

"Fabian is despicable. Tacher has that evil smirk down pat..I can't stand it when he smiles".

RgvChick, I've not cared for Mark Tacher's characters overall, and I think you nailed what it is I don't like. That smirk! That perpetual smirk! Thank you...

And Ariel does seem like a good guy. He shook Mau's hand and seems to be an all around nice person. Still, if there is little sizzle between Mau and Renee, I sense none at all between Ariel and Renee.

Diana

Good morning, good folks!

Susanlynn, yeah, it can be saddening to have to go through parents' stuff like that. Not a fun job at all. Sorry.

I keep learning things here. Stephen King is way too scary for me so I wasn't familiar with It and Pennywise. Sometimes I think clowns are simply too scary for little kids, and big ones like me as well.

Satan... are you complaining about 90 deg F weather??? How is that possible?
:-)
:-)

Rgv Chickie, no vida loca? With all those animals? You have to be kidding!

:-)

andy

Ah Susanlynn...what a sad time. As long as the house was there, a little bit of your parents' aura was there as well. My brother, after his divorce, moved into our parents house. Dad had passed away and Mom was in the memory care unit of a nursing home. So when I'd go over on weekends to see her, the house was still there. When my brother finally sold it, it was like that last little piece of earth falling on the coffin. A wrenching moment. I have kept her old waffle iron and a chipped tea pot without a lid. Really don't use either one much, but I look at them and say "Hi Mom. Hi Dad." Who knew with all our rebellion and wanting to be independent, that we would miss our parents (or grandparents) so much?

susanlynn - I feel terrible for you losing your parents' old farmhouse to that tree. I love old houses, we lived in one (built ca. 1898) for 14 years and loved every day of it. They don't build them like they used to! It was time for us to move, but I still miss it after 24 years.

I'm so sad for you, sounds like the house cannot be saved at this point ~sob~ not to even mention the work involved in removing the contents. Take time to grieve ... houses are often part of our lives and sometimes even part of our family. (((Hugs)))

Ot...Thanks , all, for letting me vent . When I talk to hub, I start crying , and then, I feel worse because he is doing so much already for the farm....mowing the lawn, paying the bills, taking care of the farmers who rent the land and the produce stand. This morning I told my younger daughter. Having a place to let out some feelings is good. It is what it is, and I just have to do it. My mother and dad had squabbling relationship..... My dad a free spirit and mother a yeller, but family was e everything to them and our extended family was very close. Just went through old photos. ,13 People around the dining table was the usual Sunday dinner. I

I guess that many people's lives would make a good telenovelas Most people just want a little happiness for themselves and those they love.

Chickie...keep mom's room just as it is. That is why my sister and I have had trouble clearing out the farmhouse. When it is gone , my parents will really seem gone a!though I feel my dad outside not inside. That farm meant everything to my dad.

Susanlynn, I am sorry that you are going through such a painful time. I can only wish you peace. We sold my mom's house because it had become a burden. Luckily for me, I do not miss it or the responsibility associated with it. I kept my mom's last handbag, though. It reminds me of all the special times we had when we were out and about.

Great recap, Jarifa! My grandmother used to say "They talk a good story." I think it might have been a Missourianism. I also wondered if the clown could be Falcón in disguise--something about the hair once the wig was off and the way he carried himself. Diana: I too was moved by Rodrigo's introducing Rafael to his co-workers as his husband. It was saying: "You are more important to me than my career or anything else." That is love! Also probably an important lesson for his fellow cops that someone they respect could be gay. An Ellen DeGeneres/Anderson cooper moment.

And my mother's house is now a Bed and Breakfast: The Arbor House in Napa, California. Looks way more elegant than when I was growing up there. :)

doris, it was a relief to know that Dulce is not implicated in Isauro's shady plan for Valentina. Though if she were, I probably would not have been surprised but maybe that is for another kind of novela like LQLVMR. Ha! Ha!

RgvChick, "The men were like little gerbils . . ." describes this group of guys when they get together perfectly. They seem great at having big dreams but not so good at actually working to make them become a reality. Until recently, I would say this has been Mauricio's MO. It really hasn't been that long since he has been transformed from the play boy jerk to a person with some values who might actually do something to earn a living.

Kirby, another beautiful eagle shot. Might it have breakfast in its beak? The wienermobile is alive and well and was just here it will be 2 summers ago at one of our grocery stores. Of course, i had to have my picture taken with it. What a riot!

Speaking of mothers, today is mother's day in Mexico.

SpanProf, I am getting the same feeling about Falcón probably having been the creepy wiggly bitt clown. Talk about stranger danger . . . I, too, thought that Rodrigo was incredibly selfless willingly and happily introducing Rafael to everyone as his husband. ITA that that was love. We need more happy scenes like those and less of the haters like Fabián.

Jarifa... Yes, I thought that Creepy the Clown was Falcon. I have no doubt that Fabian said to him, "Okay , now I want you to dress up as a clown and make it as weird and creepy as possible. Here's a cigar for you trouble."

SpsnProf...Have you ever stayed as a guest in that B and B ? We stay in a beautiful victorian house in Cape May when we go there for vacation.

SusanLynn: Nah, though I have driven past. It would feel kind of weird to pay to stay somewhere I used to live. And besides, when we go to the Bay Area, my husband and I usually stay in San Francisco, where there is a lot more to do. :)

SpanProf...yes, I can understand.

The Weinermobile comment gave me a smile.😁😊☺ Hub has fond memories of it coming to his tiny village when he was a lad, and his neighbor\friend,attorney is still the proud owner of some kind of whistle they gave out. Hub',s mother probably threw his away...like she did with all those valuable collectible baseball cards he had. 😕😡😢

Ah, the weinermobile. I can still sing that song, and "do you know how to eat an Oreo ..."

When the co-op boys sit around in their chat circle, they remind me of those talk shows on daytime TV like The View, The Talk, whatever. Lots of yakking but nothing gets accomplished.

" chat circle, they remind me of those talk shows on daytime " Me Too.

I missed a melancholy stroll down memory lane on the patio today. It really makes me miss my Grandparents who have been dead many many years. But I still love them.

Sorry for my unexcused absence today. Took the speedboat out in the Manatee River getting ready for summer. Tanned as I already am I still got sunburned a little. And these stoooooopid Love Bugs are back by the millions. Every time you stop a black cloud of them descend on you (in pairs).

I had a toy Weinermobile as a kid.

Which one was "The dog kids love to bite."?

Kirby, sounds like you had a great day and like it is time to break out the Cutters or the Off.

I have heard that some say Avon Skin So Soft works but have never tried it myself.

Unfortunately, the Avon does not work for me. : ( It sure would be more pleasant.

I don't think anything will repel these Love Bugs. They just get all over you and in the way. They don't bite or anything, they are like a thousand overgrown gnats with their ends stuck together.

Yeah, the Skin So Soft works pretty good. Living here in the jungle, I have everything short of dynomite to make insects leave me alone.

Love bugs are those little black bugs which are attracted to machinery and highways. Here in FL. you will see vehicles come off the freeway with the front end black with the little sticky gooey carcasses----------------------->>>

These little tormenters--------------------------------------------------->>>>>>>

Yikes!

Yeah they fly around connected like that and their remains will remove paint......car paint.

I used to coat the front end of my cars with Crisco, the cooking stuff, to keep them from ruining my cars.
Next I tried Saran Wrap and Duct tape. Finally gave up and bought a disposable car to drive in Love Bug season.

So then I had three frigging cars, well, actually a nice car, a nice truck, and another one that looked to have been abandoned by a homeless person, and I lived alone.

Neighbors began to think I was crazy. Well, they may not have been too far off. :-)

Avon Skin So Soft never kept the no-see-ums away from me when I tried it 20+ yrs ago on the golf course, and the smell now gives me a migraine headache. 😛 Good thing nobody I know uses it. Our bugs here must be immune to it because nobody ever mentions it anymore. I'm glad it still works for y'all in Florida. Deep Woods Off! is my favorite.

" disposable car" ... I love it! Makes perfect sense to me, too. 🚙

:-)

Thanks, Jarifa. Couldn't watch last night, but your recap is so vivid. Muchas gracias.

So Danny is not your run-of-the-mill pervert. Maybe he wants Val in order to keep Dulce in line.?

I'm not as incensed as I should be that Fabian took Renee's design. She built it off of Noel's. I'm no lawyer but it seems to me the old dude's name should've been on her patent as a co-creator or something. But I get that Fabian didn't modify like she did, but outright copied.

Susanlynn, I'm so sorry about your farmhouse. You and your husband together are such pillars. Hope it helps to know that others feel for what you're going through.

HATE Bugs

Niecie, thank you for putting into words what I have been wondering about: Renée using Noél’s design in the first place and her not mentioning giving Noél credit.

Having trouble tonight commenting....l lost three posts. This is a test.

Thanks, Niecie. Hub and I have been tag teaming problems for a long time.

Susy you got it this time.
Operative word TEAM

So how do you see some of these storylines playing out?

Will Pablo find his dad successful or in ruin ? I bet successful.

Will pragmatic , proactive Kiki be the real strong woman instead of the leading lady?

Will the cooperative stop jogging in place and actually figure out a plan. I say go for some kind of Barbie typedoll. Our seven year old has about 30 of them and is alway s thrilled to get another.

Why is Maria still here? I mean in the story. What his her purouse now that she is no longer Renee's rival since Ariel is now Maury's competition?

OK DRAT...No ...Doritos. Rather than lt loose a string of Dorito worthy words I will just say Doritos ! and you can fill in your choice descriptive exclamation.

IE: Though Andy TOLD us in perfectly understandable English that the show was replaced tonight with FoootBaille, I forgot.

So at 5 til I turned on the TV expecting to see Sudoroso y Asqueroso , but alas, Futbal.

Oh Well.

Susy, having nothing at all to go on, except my guessing ability, I would guess that since they brought Maria back from the dead, they didn't think at the time how to dispose of her again and are now stuck with her. She is the human equivalent of 'Plot Earrings'.

Well ,,, drat! Hockey season ended tonight for us.

My predictions/accuracy rate is zilch .... well, maybe .05% correct (LOL) but I have a feeling Maria is going to die by the end of this thing. She may do some sort of move to save someone and get killed doing it, but this is the only way I see her story ending. That also frees up Anifer for Mau and whoever.

And WHO ended Hockey season ? Would it be our Tampa Bay Lightning?

And WHO ended Hockey season ? Would it be our Tampa Bay Lightning?
Hockey Playoff Hangover? Cute.

Doris., "Looneycision was back, up, and running on the tv last night. Yay!"

Looneycision? Oh, I just love it, with all the cutting they do. Thumbs up!

andy

Kirby..wow, beautiful pink wings !!

Doris....I have been to one ice hockey game. A puck whizzed past me...last game. Fighting on skates...amazing. I agree that Maria will be gone by the end. Maybe by defending Ani somehow.

Kirby - no, not the TBL. the Winnipeg Jets played a fine series and ended it for us. 🏒🥅🏒🥅🏒🥅🏒🥅 I'll be cheering for them against the Vegas Knights.

doris, love the avatar! :)

With Mother's Day almost here, I've been giving a lot of thought to women, strong women in particular.

I think it's fair to say that most of the stated opinions on Maria have been generally ambivalent. I don't think Renee has received glowing assessments either.

I percieve Maria as strong, astute and very upfront about vocalizing her opinions. Not much processing. Thinks it and then says it. Loves her daughter but isn't particularly warm and fuzzy. Even if she weren't competition for Mau, I still think I wouldn't care for her.

Renee has been called many things - unfocused, wishy washy and far from pro active. I like her but I've mirrored those thoughts and have been generally unethusiastic.

I am reassessing if I've been too rash and unsupportive.

Maria appears to be free spirited and strong in her beliefs and seems to bear no grudge about injustices being done to her. She has no close friends because while she may be kind that quality simply does not come across. We assume she will be "out of the picture" somehow before this ends, but that was not the reason I didn't become "attached".

While I saw Renee as having no drive, no spark, I'm not sure that's true. She was torn between Mau and pursuing her studies. And while I as a viewer wanted her to pick education first, she very well could have been giving up her relationship with Mau permanently all together. Perhaps it was the fact their relationship seemed tepid at best. In retrospect, I think leaving the country to pursue your dreams is pretty amazing. She scaled Fabian's wall and faced Noel head on. She really has been fairly fearless. While independent, she has a circle of friends who love and support her and for whom she is fiercely devoted. She became a mother to Anifer yet yielded to Maria without bitterness. Sadness perhaps but...

I just don't see the passion and that I think is what I rue. I want to care what happens and here, I have only a mild interest rather than an "I can't wait to see what happens" perspective.

Diana

Diana...I think that you gave a very accurate analysis of both Renee and Maria. You but the nail on the head when you mentioned that there are no warm , fuzzy vibes coming from Maria. She never smiles and seems to have no solid plan for moving forward with her life.

I think that cutiecute Ariel is just a good!looking speed bump on the road to bliss for Maury, Renee, and Ani. Somehow or another Ariel, Maria, and Fab are going to be out of the picture by the finale.

Another gorgeous , warm sunny day here.
Later, gators

Thanks Susanlynn. I am glad you are experiencing some sun in what is a difficult time for you and your family.

"... cutiecute Ariel is just a good!looking speed bump on the road to bliss for Maury, Renee, and Ani. Somehow or another Ariel, Maria, and Fab are going to be out of the picture by the finale". I totally agree! Well said.

Diana

Diana, thank you for your outstanding analyses and getting the discussion going!

The only thing I would add is what I have mentioned before: Renée has gone through several major life events (cancelling her wedding/dumping her groom to be/her mother dying on the same day/no money/getting involved with and dumping Lupe/no money . . . finding out Noél is her father, no money, etc.) from the very beginning of the novela which is not really that long ago. Thinking about that, I can understand her trying to hang on to the one certain option she thought she had: getting her master's degree in the USA. Now even that is in risk due to Fabián. She needs to take care of herself and get her act back together before going back to playing footsies with Mauricio on the rebound. Renée's current "wet rag" state, for me, is totally realistic and probably healthy.

As for María, I could see her moving back to her town with Anifer at the drop of a hat or into a place of her own with Anifer if she gets a job. I do not think they would kill her off again because of the pain that caused Anifer the first time around. That would be a particularly cruel plot twist, but who knows?

Back to the grey and the rain and the laundry!

Jarifa, you are so kind.

Thank you for noting several of the most important things I forgot including Renee's cancelled wedding and of course, the loss of her mother. Thinking about those two factors alone are enought to make anyone depressed. "Renée's current "wet rag" state, for me, is totally realistic and probably healthy" was insightful and spot on.

I'm still torn as to how the problem of Maria will be solved, but you are right. Unless there is some crazy plot twist and Fabian is not Anifer's father, I don't think he will make it out of this alive. Too many children with deceased or unfathomably absent (Dulce) parents already.

Diana

OT....Diana, yes, it is a sunny , clear day here and that is helping my spirits . My sister and her two daughters came up today to go through some things and take some things. It is sad ...the end of something. And you and I both have learned the hard way that tears do not accomp!ish what must get done one way or the other. I am trying to remember that even though we will have to eventually sell the farm, it is in the farm preservation program ,so the land can not be developed. Also hub and I built our house on an acre of the land , so that part will remain ours .

Jarifa...good points. I wonder if we will get a couple weddings at the end.

Diana, I totally agree about Fabián. I just wonder how they will kill him off. His anvil better be a good one. : )

Susanlynn, it would be nice to have a couple of weddings at the end. We deserve at least that.

Always the romantic, I could enjoy a nice wedding at the end too.

Prissy little No Socks Fabian being in an arranged marriage to the biggest meanest nastiest fellow in a Maximum Security prison. BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA.

Then those two could adopt Falcon and we would finish that PSA.

I have a hard enough time forcing myself to watch and digest the bitter bile Fabian spews but seeing those bare ankles and manjeggins just makes it so much worse! Put a sock on and put a sock in it NeverFab! Blech.

Jarifa, I am wondering if Falcon might do him in, trying to save his son or someone else. His father certainly added to his evilness but Fab was bad all on his own.

Susanlynn, it is bittersweet. You have your land and I hope you have solace in that the land can't be developed. Sending comforting, supportive prayers your way.

Diana

Diana, that would be a good one.
