Por Amar Sin Ley, 5/14/18 Chapter 50 Lunes: The Capture

Chapter 50: The Capture
I'm Christopher Mason. Suspects will run and try to hide, but the law wil have its satisfaction. When a crime as heinous as rape or murder comes to the attention of guardians of the law and life, nothing is more satisfying than The Capture.
  • Alejandra told her female colleagues – the ones she could trust – that Carlos had deceived her with another woman the night before the wedding while Ricardo was selfish. She was unable to deal with either of them at this stage. Olivia didn't think that this was a fair comparison. Victoria didn't want to argue the point and Alejandra was determined never to be hurt again.

  • Leonardo received a call that Manuel had been arrested in Chiapas. This only left the ringleader, Francisco. Ricardo said that they needed to get to court as soon as he was captured. This left Leonardo free for the moment to work on Carlos Ibarra's case.
  • Roberto posted photos on his office wall as he and Juan reconstructed the night of the crime. Patricia went to bed with Carlos and was found dead the following morning by Tatiana, who had taken her zzz's with Alan. Juan added their new person of interest: Pedro, Patricia's fiancé.
  • Who at that moment was sitting in an empty café looking at the photos of both women on his tablet. His phone rang but he did not answer.
  • Benjamín was enacting his OK Corral fantasy in his office until Leticia came in to tell him he was walking into trouble, taking cases on the side. He said he wanted to prove that his clients brought in the firm's income. He would take the first opportunity to get out of the firm. She told him he was mad as a hatter.
  • Gustavo met with his latest clients, a 30-something couple seeking a divorce. He asked the usual questions, including whether they had anything held in common, such as children. They told him they had a little one named Chiquita. This name seemed odd to Gustavo and when he asked her age the wife told him that Chiquita was three years old. The couple told him that they were in agreement about everything except custody. Gustavo said they would work out an agreement, but the husband said he wanted to see his baby every day. The wife told him that this was impossible, as she had to work and couldn't be home all day long. Gustavo stopped the argument and told them that they'd work this out after drawing up the divorce papers. He told them that they needed to agree on whether the support money would go until the child was legally an adult or until she finished her education. She said that they didn't need that and the husband said “No, sir; Chiquita is our little dog. She's our Chihuahua.”
The wife handed her cell phone to Gustavo, who enlarged the photo for a better look.
  • Benjamín and Leticia continued to talk about his obsession with proving his worth to the firm. She changed her strategy and had him sit on her lap like he was a little boy. She told him that yes, he deserved more than what he was getting and why don't they talk about it at her place later over dinner. This changed his mood immediately and he said so. She replied it was “because I know you better than anyone.” She said to wait for her at her place and not to be late.
She got up to leave and as she slinked out the door she told she didn't want anyone calling him so as not to lose the moment.
  • The only explanation anyone could have for this relationship is if Benjamín knew the Venus Butterfly. But it would far too gauche to ask.
  • Gustavo told his clients that this changed everything but they continued to say that Chiquita was their daughter. They began arguing with each other over Chiquita's emotional state, each claiming the right to full custody. Gustavo tried to explain that custody issues only appied to human beings. Each continued to insist on full custody, calling the dog their daughter. Gustavo tried to get them to agree to talk about a schedule of visits “so each of you can spend time with your pet.” However, the husband inssited that they were a nuclear family. They argued about who bathed Chiquita and who took her to the doctor when she injured her paw and Gustavo stopped them again, stating that he would draw up a schedule for them and that was that.
  • Of course in every situation like this it is inevitable that a meeting would take place between two parties whose only interests were their own, to the exclusion of everyone elses's.
  • Elena got off one elevator at Vega & Associates at ust after Carlos had gotten off the other. She greeted him, acknowledging that they had never met but that she had seen him on television. She said she was surprised to see him, as Ricardo had told her that he and Carlos worked very differently. He said he was there to see Alejandra and to see about his own case. He did not hesitate to pitch his services – legal ones, that is – by handing her a businesss card. She wished him luck, said a good morning to the secretarial staff, and headed for Ricardo's office.
  • Ricardo ran into his office to answer his phone. The news was good and he ran out immediately.
  • Leonardo, Roberto, and Juan were discussing Carlos' case., deciding that their next step had to be fining Pedro. Juan said he would get the telephone reports against Patricia's and Tatiana's cell phones so they could go through the numbers called most frequently. Leonardo said that this was their only chance. Since the prosecutor didn't have any other suspects they would arrest Carlos again if they didn't come up with one. Roberto said they would be coming up with nothing if this report wasn't helpful.
  • Ricardo went to Alejandra's office with the good news of the day. Not only had Manuel been arrested, Francisco was taken in Arizona. He needed her to call to begin the extradition process. As they hugged in celebration Carlos entered with a sarcastic “I came at a bad time.” His snake eyes looked at one, then the other. He walked right into the office and got behind Alejandra's desk. She told him he was wrong and that they just celebrated a major step in a difficult case. He congratulated her then said he wanted to talk. Ricardo started to leave but she didn't allow him to. She asked Carlos what he was there for.
  • Leonardo said that they now had to inform the prosecutor that Tatiana was a possible suspect. Further that he would go to the hotel and get the security videos. Roberto said he would go with him. However, they now had to find Pedro. They would soon need to talk to Sonia. They also had to talk to Alonso, but Leonardo felt that somehow something was escaping them.
  • Carlos told Alejandra that he had formally registered the foundation and that they could move forward. That was all. An awkward moment later he took his leave, telling her that she was beautiful. When he kissed her cheek she did not acknowledge it and stood there stiffly until he left. Ricardo offered her his office to discuss the foundation with Carlos but she declined. Alexa was the priority. She declared that Carlos had to respect her working hours and not just show up when it pleased him. They left to join the criminal law team.
  • Isabel and Luis arrived home and she told him to do his homework and wash his hands before dinner. He said he had no homework. He wanted to see his father. They went through the same conversation all divorced mothers have with their children about why wasn't his father there. Isabel tried to explain that they could not live together any more and that he would get to spend a few days a week with each of them. This was not what he wanted to hear and when she tried to kiss him he got up and went to his room.
  • Alejandra and Ricardo went to his office to find another unwelcome guest, Elena. He had not expected her and asked whether the children were alright. She said they were and she just wanted to see him.
  • Alejandra was very put off by this and Elena knew it. She therefore loved ever second of it.
  • Carlos then invaded Roberto's office where he noticed the pictures on the wall. They told him that Tatiana was a possible suspect. He asked about Alan and Leonardo said they would be talking to him. Carlos said that it was difficult to think of him as a suspect but if they discovered anything he wanted to know right away. He asked about Pedro and they told him what they knew. “At last some good news,” was his reply. They realized he was having a bad day. He left them to their work and their thoughts.
  • Ricardo asked whether Elena was there about the children.  Elena told Ricardo she was there to talk about other things. Alejandra started to leave the office but Ricardo stopped her. He told Elena that this could wait because they had an important call to make regarding their case. What was it she wanted? Elena was offended and said so. Ricardo said he would catch up with her later and she told him not to wory; that would not be necessary. She left in a huff. Ricardo then told Alejanda that the only thing he had left to discuss with Elena was the children and nothing else. They got back to work.
  • Carlos went into Victoria's office supposedly to discuss the foundation. Victoria asked whether he was doing this because he wanted to help or because he wanted to impress Alejandra. He told her it was independent of Alejandra. If she didn't believe him she didn't show it. They talked about this with a few details and he left, saying he'd be in contact with her.
  • Because Elena failed to capture the flag this time, she paid a visit to her accomplice.
  • Elena took her anger to Leticia's office, complaining about Alejandra being in Ricardo's office. Leticia explained that his case required her specialty since she specializes in international law. Elena asked why she never told her that and the answer was “Because I didn't think it was important.” Elena then announced that if Alejandra thought she was going to get Ricardo she would have to deal with her.
Leticia looked as though this conversation was giving her a headache. She told Elena to stop stressing out about this but Elena didn't want to. She reminded her that she could be stressed at her work as well. “But it's not the same!” was Elena's excuse. They mentioned Carlos and then Elena told Leticia if it suddenly looked like more than work to let her know. Leticia agreed to and suggested they go to lunch.
  • Alejandra told Leonardo on the way to Roberto's office that she had a call in to Arizona. They talked about Manuel and Octavio and that their escape attempt is a statement of guilt. There was nothing that should stand in the way of them being sent to prison.
  • Roberto dropped in on Victoria for another Shakespearean round of frustrated flirting only to have his dinner invitation rejected again in favor of working late to prepare for court in the morning. He was just out the door when she called him back with a question. She wanted his opinion of Carlos Ibarra.
“He is proud and vain, but I think he is innocent of what he's been accused of.”
“That's not what I'm thinking about. Do you know if he can be trusted?”
    “I think so. Why?”
“Alejandra and I are helping him with a foundation he is starting for women who have suffered violence.”
“I think he is very proud and if he's doing something like that it's because of what happened to Patricia.”
“Very well. I was only looking to see if I was doing the right thing.”
    “At your service, as always.”
  • Alejandra finished up with the call to Arizona and gave the men the good news. The extradition was under way and Francisco would be back in Mexico the next morning. Leonardo said they needed to see Alexa and Ricardo kissed Aleandra's hand befoe they left.
  • As the maid prepared dinner Elena played at her work on the tablet while her son asked whether Ricardo had called. Federico wanted to call but Elena stopped him, saying that he was busy. Then for the nth time she started telling them that she thought Ricardo was with “someone else” and would “therefore not spend as much time with us.” With sympathy that was a total fairy tale she told Natalia that she loved her so much and that it looked as though Ricardo was not going to keep his promises, especially since he wasn't there with them now. She asked Elena if they cold go to see Ricardo the next day and she told them maybe but if he was concentrating on other things – or someone else – they had to respect that. Natalia started to choke up, a precursor to crying. Federico didn't quite believe it all. Natalia didn't want to be forgotten. Of course,
Elena said that if Ricardo wanted to move on with someone else and have “his own” children, then he wouldn't have much time for them.
Natalia said “But we are his children.”
Elena replied that “You'll have to tell him that.”
  • Elena was a special sort of mother. She must have enjoyed watching her daughter cry.
  • Paula was playing cards with her friends when Alejandra arrived home. She updated her mother and her friends on what had been happening and that she wasn't allowing herself to be hurt anymore. Paula told her that if she was to do that she'd never leave her own room. She shouldn't stand in the way of her own happiness.
  • Over dinner Juan explained that he was worried about Tatiana because Roberto had been tough on Tatiana because he considered her a suspect. Fernanda said he could have a reason but Juan defended Tatiana in a way that not please Fernanda. She had nothing to say when he said he didn't know what he was going to do about this after spending all that time getting Tatiana to trust him.
  • The elusive Pedro was at the bar that night staring at Tatiana as she danced against the blue screen.
  • Fernanda told Juan he was worried over nothing but he reminded her that Tatiana ended up on the suspect list. He was so sure she hadn't done the crime. So sure that Fernanda said he was getting over-involved in this case. He then made the mistake of telling her that he helped Tatiana with her child's medical bills. That was the last straw for Fernanda, who then left until such time as he would get this out of his system.
  • Ricardo and Leonardo went to Hugo's house to deliver the news and discuss what needed to happen next. They were ready to go to a judge and needed to prepare Alexa. She refused to go. She begged Ricardo not to insist because she didn't want to face her rapists and all she wanted to do was forget that this ever happened.
  • Gustavo went to Isabel's house to see Luis, who was happy to see him. However, things took an immediate awkward turn when Luis said he wanted his father back in the house again.
  • Ricardo was shocked and a little impatient as he told Alexa they had worked hard on her case. She almost shouted at him that she didn't want anyone else putting the blame on her for this. Leonardo expained that since she was a minor they could prevent her full name from being said in the proceedings. She didn't believe him. Ricardo told her that they could protect her and that they would be with her through this. Hugo handed Ricardo the tablet showing the nasty messages and postings. He was not sure what to do. Alexa sobbed that she didn't want to face them. She just wanted to forget this all happened. In another place. Leonardo said that the criminals deserve punishment for their actions. He has dedicated his life to justice but couldn't do it alone. She said they could do it because they were strong but she was not. Ricardo tried to buck her up, saying that she had shown courage by reporting the crime and that she could complete this by seeing it through. Alexa still looked reluctant.
Leonardo asked Hugo if he had sought out his brother, but Hugo had been told that he was out of the country. He wasn't sure that his brother knew about any of this. Leonardo explained that the three rapists had all been caught. Alexa left the room, crying. Ricardo asked Hugo to talk to her. They needed her testimony. Hugo said he would try.
  • Gustavo tried to explain to his son that he had another home and that he (Luis) woud have two. He was not agreeable. He began to blame his mother. He insisted that Gustavo stay there with him. Gustavo suggested he stay in the guest room. Isabel agreed for that night. As Luis rushed off, telling his father to come with him Gustavo thanked Isabel. She looked defeated and far less than pleased with the situation.
When people are caught someone usually squirms. Elena and Carlos are the ones squiming that their prey are involved with each other and not them. The three rapists are likely to turn on each other but if Alexa does not appear in court they are sure to join the vultures on social media who want to see her destruction while their parents pay for their freedom. Until next we meet Behind Mansion Walls, I'm Christopher Mason.

Thanks, Urban. Great job and screenshots. Loved the closeup of Chiquita on the phone.

Actually, I think I heard Elena tell Ricardo that her visit wasn't about the kids (stupid as that was), which emboldened him to tell her to make it quick due to his work urgency or they could talk later. Elena made a power play in front of Ale and lost miserably. I literally applauded.

Ricardo and Leo are disappointed the rapists won't be brought to justice if Alexa doesn't come forward, but they shouldn't pressure her. They have no idea what's going on inside her. Victoria said she had a psychologist to treat Alexa. Where is that psychologist? I hope she's a woman.

Poor Isabel. Done in by her son. She and Gustavo shouldn't have given in.

Niecie, Elena's power play was disgusting and obvious. I think she will confront Alejandra soon because she is such a selfish bitch. She is not yet aware that Alejandra dropped Carlos and Carlos can't even admit that to himself. The fact that Elena met him and he gave her his business card was a power play of his, but she doesn't realize it yet.

What she is doing to her children is so low she could do the limbo rock into a street sewer opening. Which is where she belongs.

That Isabel caved to Luis is another disappointment.

As soon as the cyber-bullying started I realized that it would lead to Alexa not wanting to go to court. Where is that shrink, anyway? I'm sure that shrink will be female; Victoria would understand these things and see to that.

Hugo needs to persuade Alexa to go to court. She will never have closure otherwise even if she goes to boarding school in Europe. If she doesn't these three will get away with this crime and will victimize others unless Hugo goes vigilante on them, which would also rob Alexa of her father. Their family is now destroyed. I anticipate a very ugly confrontation between Hugo and his brother when he turns up. And whee are their wives?

Pedro is a creep and I think he is stalking Tatiana.

Wonderful as always UA. You and Christopher make a very good team. We doddering folks in the Midwest have no idea what a Venus butterfly is. Or I don't anyway. Maybe the internet will enlighten me. But I think Leticia's zeal for winning and coming out on top is what motivates her with Benjamin. If he actually left his wife for her, she'd lose interest and move on to someone new. For now, she finds the struggle a turn on.

"Of course in every situation like this it is inevitable that a meeting would take place between two parties whose only interests were their own, to the exclusion of everyone elses's."

Perfect observation UA. We all knew these two toads would join forces. It was not a question of "if" but rather "when".

Alexa's story is excruciating. So young and already so shamed (unjustly) by what was done to her and by the ugly postings on social media. And then her father and two other MEN are pressuring her to do WHAT THEY WANT, not what she feels capable of.

It's another violation.

And as for forgetting, she will never be able to forget. That is something that she'll remember her whole life and it will cast a shadow, no matter how good her therapist is.

We can only hope (wait Judy, it's just a story! just a story!) that eventually she will emerge stronger rather than shattered by the experience. But she will never forget.

Loved your concluding paragraph as well UA. And the screen shots. Carlos looking like a sodden, soft-eyed Uriah Heap when talking to Victoria was perfect.

You craft your recaps with love and care. Such a treat.

Forgot to mention, also loved "snake eyes" and "frustrated flirting" (these two remind me of the Diane and Sam dynamic in Cheers). Hopefully, they won't get together until the very end of Por Amor because Sam and Diane were much less interesting once they hooked up.

Thanks Urban.

Couldn't help but laugh at seeing how uncomfortable Gus was when he learned Chiquita was a dog. At first I also thought the clients were talking about a real child because nowadays people give their kids very funny and peculiar names.

It was very satisfying to see Ale and Brick putting their exes in their rightful places at last.

Elena is very toxic and I wish someone would take those kids away from her, the things she says to them and the fact that she enjoys doing it makes my stomach turn and I literally wanna strangle her through the screen.

Judy, thanks. I'm rather vain about my verbal skills so these comments are much appreciated. I wish I had the endurance to actually write novels... and the looks and money to infiltrate the Upper Crust. I'd be following in Dominick's footsteps.

You are right in that Alexa will never be able to forget this no matter what happens. What makes this so much worse is the cyber-bullying. There are documented cases in multiple countries of girls who were bullied so viciously in this way that they have committed suicide. She is also now at risk for cyber-stalking.

My screen isn't large, so if anyone can identify the names of the "people" who posted the garbage being thrown at her please do. The perps are my first suspects but they might have bragged to their friends.

Last week I stumbled onto documentaries about gang rape in various countries. The stories were truly horrifying, particularly in that the actions were predicated on a culture of male entitlement irrespective of social class or income. Many of the perps were minors in countries where they could not be prosecuted due to concepts of age of criminal responsibility. I'm also active on Quora where this subject came up. There are many Indian people on that site who tell nightmarish tales of incidents in Mumbai ad Delhi. This one is particularly shocking.

Alexa needs to testify, as I said before. She needs the support of her parents, a good shrink, and the law. If Mexico is still in the Dark Ages about rape, I'm sure the writers are going to make that point. This is also an example of a situation where lack of parental communication and supervision creates the problem.

For Alexa not to testify would spare her some anxiety or pain in the current moment but this leaves three perps unpunished, which increases their sense of entitlement. Rape is a serial crime and they will do it again.

Ava, toxic mothers are such stock characters in telenovelas because their damage begins early and lasts a lifetime. Until relatively recently -- PEAM -- I never saw a young toxic mother of a young child. Remember the discussions about Veronica and how cruel she was to her 5-year-old? This is a Gabriela Elizondo, Ursula Santibanez, Catalina Creel in the early years of their protagonist or villain children's lives. The dynamics of the relationships between typical TN toxic mothers and their adult children are formed as you see here.

Elena is gaslighting her children and if this goes on much longer Federico and Natalia will question their own perceptions of reality. There have been comments on how infantilized her children seem to be and I agree with that. This is a necessary dynamic for a parent like Elena to maintain control. Federico should be beginning to develop an interest in girls. He also looks a bit short for 13. Natalia looks about 9, but then again children today look younger than the ones of my generation at that age.

My dear Urban, thank you for another superb recap. You have such amazing writing skills and your dedication to provide fantastically written and comprehensive recaps twice a week is commendable.
I especially loved the following lines:
"The only explanation anyone could have for this relationship is if Benjamín knew the Venus Butterfly. But it would far too gauche to ask."
"Because Elena failed to capture the flag this time, she paid a visit to her accomplice".
and
"Roberto dropped in on Victoria for another Shakespearean round of frustrated flirting"

Irene

In every single episode I say that what Alejandra wore is the worst, most terribly horrendous abomination ever, and then comes the next episode and I find out that, sadly, I was mistaken.
What the hell is wrong with PASL's costuming department? Last night Alejandra was wearing red clown pants and a blouse that looks like an old crumpled rug twisted at the neck to make it look like a blouse and Elena wore this atrocious jacket that not even the most geriatric dwellers of Nicholas' assisted living facility would wear, this monstrosity being coupled with a ginormous bow tie.

I really have no idea why do they have Brick "working" on Alexa's case. All he does is screaming like a lunatic, damaging the case and concurring and looking smart when Leo says something intelligent. Doesn't he have other cases to tend to?

And I died laughing when Alejandra was patting herself on the back for a job well done putting the rapists on the Interpol's blue notice. It's the Mexican police that would communicate with the Interpol about that. No citizen, whether he is an international lawyer(by the way, there is no such a thing, what does exist is a lawyer specializing in public or private international law, and both those specialties are not helpful in cases such as Alexa's) or not cannot just contact the Interpol and tell this International Police Organization what to do. Imagine if everyone would call the Interpol asking to list their disruptive neighbor or pesky coworker.
And girl, even an "international lawyer" can't just make phone call ordering police departments in other countries what to do with the detained criminals. This is something that is done by the police and the Ministry of Justice and there is a complicated procedure established for such cases.

But the most ridiculous thing was our smart criminal defense attorneys needing to pin photos of 2 people and a handwritten note with a name of a third to make any kind of sense of the case. It's just two suspects, why the hell would you need a thinking board for that? And what's next, group painting by numbers?

And I have to vent about the worst moment of the episode: Gustavo being the worst, most despicable piece of shit ever. Instead of saying to Louis that daddy made a huge unforgivable mistake, and it's not mommy's fault but only daddy's that things are the way they are, this piece of garbage manipulated Isabel's guilt to actually stay in the house. And he let Louis think that everything is Isabel's fault and he is the cool, good parent! This is unforgivable and Isabel should have put a stop to his manipulative, disgusting behavior there and then, instead of caving like she did.

Irene

If I were Isabel, I would have told the boys to have fun and checked into a hotel. WITH the GameBoy.

Irene, Gustavo did previously tell Luis that he made a huge mistake; the kid didn't get the message. He obviously didn't tell him what that mistake was, but he did do this against Isabel's wishes at the time. Which was not a good idea because it made her angry, but I think she was mistaken in making that demand.

If I recall correctly the prevailing advice to divorcing parents is to tell the child together, but obviously that would have been very difficult for this set of parents.

Since Luis is only ten years old and has probably been babied to a similar degree as Natalia -- maybe worse because he's an only -- it would take repeated explanations to make him understand. Besides, what's the divorce rate in Mexico, anyway? Wouldn't he have classmates with divorced parents?

Isabel probably is also tired of fighting. However, we can probably count on them having a big fight when Luis is off to school the next day.

Ricardo probably feels that he needs to be involved because Mariana brought the case to him. He also has a daughter so this is hitting something emotional for him. What I am wondering now is if Alexa's refusal to go to court due to trauma means that there can be no criminal trial does Hugo have the right to bring a civil suit against his brother and the parents of the other two because of what their worthless sons did?

Alejandra's involvement is an obvious plot device to put her in Ricardo's company for the sake of the case.

Will somebody whose Spanish is better than mine please write to Televisa and tell them to clean up this stuff?

As for the palazzo pants I could think of worse things I've seen in novela wardrobes. The stupid tassel necklaces worn my Nina in Pasioin y Poder, often with the worst possible dress for them made me wonder how the actress reacted when she first saw them.

Sumptuous recap, Urban, and amazing screen shots. I can’t believe how precisely you captured Benji’s little finger-gun and Lucretia’s parting moue. Awesome!

My favorite lines:

“Of course in every situation like this it is inevitable that a meeting would take place between two parties whose only interests were their own, to the exclusion of everyone elses's.” So elegantly put!

“Alejandra was very put off by this and Elena knew it. She therefore loved every second of it.” There is special place in hell for people who thrive on the unhappiness of others, and I can’t wait to see her there.

“When people are caught someone usually squirms.” Christopher always gets in the zingers!

Say what you will about Carlos – and we say plenty – he definitely knows how to open the doors at Vega. No shilly-shallying there.

Oh my UA, went to your link about the rape culture in India. What a dreadful and dangerous place for any girl to grow up. So many places where being female is so dangerous, many are aborted before they are born. And given what may await them, maybe they are the lucky ones.

Urban, Okay I couldn't finish the video after one of the women asked why the boy is in jail and the girl at home when they should both be punished. And the children thinking it's the victim's fault too? Obviously because of the brainwashing by their parents and teachers.

Ava: They better catch Francisco & his cronies because they're going rape more girls again & pretty much escalate to much worse.

Do you remember the Telemundo TN "La Dona" ? Group of 5 wealthy men violently raped a teenage girl & killed her parents...

Yes, that is the problem. When mothers are brainwashed into this stuff they just keep perpetuating the misery into succeeding generations.

This doesn't even touch the subject of FGM or femicide in other places.

What on earth can make men hate women so much?

Urban, it's a very good question that doesn't have a good answer. At least now the violence against women is starting to get the attention it deserves.
I pray the writers will do justice to this storyline, but since they left without resolution a very important storyline of domestic violence (Rosita and her troglodyte husband) maybe I shouldn't get my hopes high.

You are right that Gustavo kind of tried to explain things to Louis before the divorce, but he obviously didn't make it cristal clear that he is the responsible party and now, when Louis was disrespecting Isabel and blaming her for the situation, he should have taken him aside, sternly told him that he is not to disrespect his mother ever again and finally explained to him that daddy made a huge mistake, the kind that cannot be forgiven, and that now mommy and daddy are divorced but this doesn't mean they love him any less, only that now they will leave in different houses.
Instead, he undermined Isabel's parental authority, made her suffer his presence in her house and gave Louis hope that everything is going to be as it used to.

Irene

Yes I remember La Doña. They raped her right there with the lifeless bodies of her parents and young boyfriend laying there.

What's even more sickening is the fact that these men think that a woman is just begging for it if she dares as much to smile their way.

A few days ago a friend told me about a young woman who got married to this guy who came from a tribe that practiced FGM, the mother in law was aware the girl hadn't been "cut" and neither did she want to so she waited till the girl was pregnant and was about to deliver, and since it was a home birth and the women who were in assistance during the birth were her family and friends in support of FGM, she used that opportunity to cut her as soon as the baby was born.

And the men in those tribes wonder why their wives dread having relations with them.

There is also a video about child marriage in Nepal where girls are married off at the age of 12 or so, but usually to guys in their teens. Most of them are raised in complete ignorance of sex and almost none of them ever finish their education. What century is this again?

Irene, no matter what either Gustavo or Isabel say, Luis is still a bit too young to understand this. It will be rough going for a while.

Thank you Urban. You got this up quick
Like before it was over quick. Good job.

Im finally glad to see Carlos with vinegar in his mouth. Every since he
Got out of the poky he's had a mouth
Full of sugar. Hahaha!

Elena"alejandra thinks she's going get
Ricardo she'll have to deal with me".
Ha, she already got him, she's just fighting it. And as for dealing with her skanky butt....no contest. She is one nasty pile of doggy doodoo?I don't
Think she really loves those kids if she can lie to them like that just so she can make natty cry to get them to
Make rick feel bad about having a life
That they think don't include them.
And she sits there like the cold bitch
She is watching her daughter's heart break. That's cold. And very evil. She
Got hers coming. And Carlos might the one to give it to her. Or el ciego.

I feel for that little girl.I hope her
Dad can get her to finish hanging the
SOBs. And frankys daddy probably don't care, he just gives his son a credit card and let him raise himself. Oh the
Parents, what to do about the no good
Parents.

The rape scenes are getting worse. YA
Know? I would like to see an attempt of A rapest trying to do this to a woman his Worst nightmare, and she'll
Just beat the Livin daylights out of him. Woman know martial arts & Kwon Do
And other Stuff. All of us aren't crazy enough to blindly drink what's offered to us. I know it's a reality that it happens and but it's also a reality that it doesn't always happen.
And since this is part fantasy and PSA
They can let her be special forces and
Beat the crap out of all 3 of them for
The fantasy part.
Well aleast Elena & carlos scored 0 in This episode. And elena sinks even lower And destroys rick in her poor children's eyes. What a sick bitch she is.I don't Even think letty cares about her mind Twisted fantasy of having rick in her Messed up life any more. I don't.

Thanks Urban.

Urban, I don't know how old Luis is, but surely he is old enough to understand a concept of divorce? And if he doesn't understand on his own, maybe Gustavo should buy him a children's book that explains it instead of just throwing Isabel under the bus. Unsurprisingly, there are a lot of books that deal with divorce, some aimed at very young children.
There is one called "Was It the Chocolate Pudding?: A Story For Little Kids About Divorce" that seems to be aimed at very young children, certainly younger than Louis.
I am sure that dealing with a divorce is very painful for any child, but it can't be avoided and Gustavo's cowardly attitude exacerbates the problem.

I think parents do their Children a big injustice when they don't sit them down and explain why mom and dad won't
Be together anymore. Instead they say well they're to young, not always the case. They can understand some things.
Just don't leave them hanging like gus
And isabel has. I think they could've
Prepared him alot better than they did . But Isabel was cought off guard in the worst possible way. Gus really did
Screw up. Bad.

I love these recaps. Thanks so much! I wish the male lawyers would ask Oli to speak with Alexa. She has been through a similar experience, and I think would have more compassion toward the girl, as well as credibility with her. I'm afraid that Alexa is on the verge of suicide.

Urban--Thank you for your excellent narrative through Mr. Mason's voice. That alone perked up the episode.

So sorry to have come in on the end of this thought-provoking episode that engendered so many comments. My family has descended upon me and I will be incommunicado for almost two weeks. I'll try to stay current with the recaps. (They are better than the episodes now-a-days.)

Hasta la Vista, Patio Peeps.

Thanks US! You always deliver a fun read. And those pictures!

I want to echo what Sandydoc said about having Olivia speak with Alexa. Why haven't they done that? Sigh.

I wonder if Elena will be take out that business card and be calling Carlos to tattletale that Ricardo was rude to her in the company of Alejandra.

As someone who still misses Cuando, I hope Lourdes (Paula's friend) gets together with Alexa's dad.

UA... My previous comment auto corrected to US. I meant UA!

Blue Lass,
Thank you so much. I just finished reading your marveloud recap. It is clear to see you having so much fun keeping us giggling. And giggling continues reading the comments, everyone is a comedienne!!

Love this blong, good clean fun.

Oh, its educational too especially with our own legal eagle, thanks for sharing. I heard lots about money laundering, but didn‘t understand concept.

Hmmmm, a new home health agency that we used for 2 hours recently called us to ask if we would help them out by saying that we had been using them for a long time because they were being auditing. My daughter told them no because she didnt even know them.

I wonder?? Hmmmm.

While we're waiting for last night's recap here is an article about money laundering for reference.

Wow Urban, what a great article on money laundering.
Thanks so much!!!

I will share with my daughter, she like everyone, need to be aware of these schemes.

What a fool Carlos is, of all people to open his foundation w crime money he chooses Ale and Victoria (sharp Vicky). They will find out, but they sure are in vulnerable spot being tangled in any shape or form with Ciego because of Carlos. Carlos dark side is being revealed, slowly he turns, step by step.
