Alt. Title: The Fight for a Child Begins
At
Night—
Jorge helps drunk-as-a-skunk Baldo to his bed as Lili
brings a cup of coffee. Jorge comments, “Esto es el colmo!” (not a literal
translation: ‘this is the last straw’ or ‘this is the limit’). When Lili tells
Jorge that he went too far in going to the club for Baldo because he’ll lose
face with his friends, Jorge doesn’t care…Baldo is his son and who knows how
Baldo would have ended up that night; it was a dark place that destroys
people…even Kika and her sister were there…and he argued with Kika. Just then,
Baldo slurs that Jorge was an ass to have left that woman, but Jorge tells him
they will talk the next day and leaves. Once alone, Baldo takes a tiny baggie
out of his pocket and stares at it. (Correction Baldo: a DUMB ASS.)
After Jorge zips over to Kika’s suite, Kika tells him she
was just about to leave a message at the lobby to not let him in. When she asks
him what he wants, Jorge responds that he is happy to find that she is still
awake…he wants to ask for her forgiveness. He is sorry for being so stupid; he
misinterpreted the whole situation…it was a big mistake and he apologizes. Kika
retorts that she is not a prude (mojigate) like him, but she does do good deeds
for her fellow man. After Jorge tells Kika that Baldo is fine, Kika reminds him
that, at that age, they all do crazy things. She thinks that after this
incident, Baldo won’t drink anymore…or at least not for a long while. Jorge
appreciates that she understands him; it isn’t every day that a person becomes
a father to two who have reached the age of majority. When he realizes that he
isn’t making much sense, Jorge bids his farewell. As he starts to leave, Kika
starts to close the door and comments, “That’s nothing strange;” so Jorge
rushes back in and asks if she meant that she misses him (‘extraño’= strange;
and ‘te extraño’ = I miss you). After Kika clarifies and asks Jorge if he
thinks she misses him, Jorge wonders if she actually does miss him and admits
that he does…miss her. As he inches toward her, Kika tells him she
hasn’t…stopped thinking about him…and they kisssss…
(Three days later......?)
At Mau’s dark house, someone mysterious enters (since no one
locks their doors) and plants what seems to be a gun in Mau’s bag. As the
mystery man turns back, he sees Anifer’s backpack and pats it gently. (Oh CRAP
! Now security will discover that gun when they check his Barney and Elmo
backpack entering LogaToys.)
Baldo is in his room fiddling with the pill. When Lili knocks
at the door, he turns around and pretends to be asleep, but Lili enters anyway
to retrieve the coffee cup.
At Kika’s suite, Kika and Jorge have done the deed and are
cuddling. Kiki tells Jorge that she did get very angry with him, but she still
missed him very much. Jorge missed her too…her caresses, her kisses, her smell,
and so many other things; he spent many nights thinking about her. When she
asks if he is back with his wife, Jorge admits that he is “just a little…one
would suppose so, but it isn’t really a marriage; it’s a marriage of
convenience since there is a commitment to the family.” Kika knows he doesn’t
like to be pressured, but tells Jorge that he needs to make a decision about
their relationship. When Jorge tells her that he needs time, Kika loses it and
tells him that she has given him more than enough time. When she wonders if she
will have to wait till the next Olympics, Jorge asks her not to get upset, but
Kika responds that she is angry and demands that he tell her what’s going on
with their relationship or she’ll just say good-bye because she won’t have him
messing with her again. (Jorge, just tell her the truth. If she and D’ulcer are
in a Bunny Hop-off, she needs to know so she can try to win.)
At Mau’s house, the prowler prowls around and plants a bagof
drugs in a drawer. Meanwhile, Mau is in bed and hears a noise; so he gets up,
but the prowler hears him, too. Mau walks out of his bedroom calling out for
María and looking around, but finds nothing out of the ordinary. (Write it
down, someone actually pulled something over on Mau.) (Evidence? OF what? That
one of the toothpaste coupons he used at Kroger was a Xerox copy?)
At Kika’s suite, Kika is kika’ing Jorge out of her suite and
throwing his clothes at him as she tells him he is just like all the other men
because deep down he can’t face things on his own. He needs a woman at his
side, but not for love…only so he won’t have to take full charge of his
responsibilities. (How right she is, at least about Jorge.)
Jorge denies that is how things are because, if they
were, he would be happy with Dulce; and he isn’t. Kika insists that Jorge only
does things that he feels comfortable with. After Jorge tells her that he needs
to talk to his wife, Kika growls in frustration; so Jorge corrects himself and
tells her he needs to talk to Dulce. He also needs to consider that it is very
important to Samuel to be with his mother. Kika snaps that Jorge can do
whatever he wants, but she is NOT going to be waiting around for him like a
storybook princess. If he really loves her, he has to do the impossible so that
they can be together. After she slams the door in his face, Jorge picks up the
rest of his things, but notices his shoes are missing so he softly knocks on
the door. Kika opens the door yelling that he shouldn’t come back crawling and
asking for forgiveness because she isn’t going to forgive him, especially now
that she is VEEERY angry! When he tells her he needs his shoes, she slams the
door closed again, but then opens it and throws his shoes at him. (She should
have peed in them first.)
The
Next Day—
At Jorge’s house, Lili brings out breakfast for Baldo who
has a bad hangover. After she tells him that Jorge went to mass and will rake
him over the coals when he gets back, Baldo swears that he will never drink
again. Just then, Jorge walks in and asks Baldo how he is feeling. When Baldo
responds that he has a bad headache and has an upset stomach, Jorge goes to get
some pills for nausea. Lili and Baldo are shocked at how calm he is…Baldo
thinks it’s a miracle from the Almighty. (Yeah, the almighty Kika yo’ socks
off.)
At Mau’s house, Mau and María are having breakfast. After
Mau reminds María that they will be going up for their hearing this week, María
fears telling him, but she thinks it’s time that she and Anifer return to San
Crispín…as far away from this city as possible. Mau doesn’t think going to San
Crispín is the answer; there has to be another option that requires them to go
so far. When María argues that it’s a matter of keeping Anifer safe, Mau
counters that she can’t go on her first impulse; they need to think things
through so that Anifer will be safe without them having to go so far away. He
reminds her that what Anifer wants most is that they all be together…taking her
away can’t be the only way out. When he suggests that she take her time to
think about it…one-two years, María gets frustrated and walks away.
At Jorge’s house, Jorge starts his talk with Baldo. He
doesn’t want it to sound like he is scolding him; he just wants Baldo to know
that he worries about him. When Jorge brings up Baldo’s idea that he wants to
go to Tijuana and asks him if he really thinks he can take care of himself,
Baldo reminds Jorge that he is now 18 and the incident last night was just one
time. Jorge understands, but still thinks Baldo isn’t mature enough to live by
himself. He then adds, “This goes for the two of you. I’m your father…I’m a
square father…and strict, neurotic…all the defects that you want to add, but I
want one thing to be clear, I love you.” When Lili and Baldo just stare at him,
Jorge continues, “You don’t have to respond…it’s not necessary. I was simply
putting things on the table…end of communication.” After Jorge excuses himself
and leaves, Baldo and Lili are speechless… (Because his help from the Almighty
sure left him smelling a lot like Kika.)
In Noel’s hotel room, Renée takes Noel some clothes she
bought for him and a cane. Noel thanks her and doesn’t know what would have
become of him after his ‘lock up’ and everything else that has happened. Renée
understands that he probably doesn’t feel like going out, but also thinks there
is no use in remaining in hiding when so many people already know he is alive.
Noel knows she 's right, but doesn’t think it’s that easy to return to the
world of the living. Returning from the tomb will pose many problems because it
seems that faking one’s death is a crime. Renée doesn’t know what they could
accuse him of, but she can find out what might happen. Noel then comments that
the only good thing that can come out of this is that he can be close to
her…and there is one more thing that would be of good consequence if he were to
return from the tomb…something he should have done a long time ago…give her his
last name. (Yes, “Renee SmellyTurd” has
a nice ring to it. Thanks, I'll call our attorney.)
Pablo and Lili are talking at the swings when she realizes
she doesn’t have her phone. Pablo offers to go for it at her house, but worries
that Jorge or Baldo might get upset. Lili tells him not to worry; all he needs
to do is tell them she sent him for the phone. Meanwhile, Baldo is on the phone
telling someone that he is too hung over and will call him later. When he hangs
up, he finds the small pouch in his pocket as Pablo walks in and sees it. When Pablo
asks what he was going to do with it, Baldo gets on the defensive and tell him
it’s none of his business. Pablo explains he is there to get Lili’s cell phone
and warns Baldo not to get into that stuff. After Baldo assures him that he
hasn’t even touched it and asks that he not tell Lili and much less Jorge, he
adds that he was only going try it out of curiousity. Pablo remarks that is
what everyone says, but that’s the way it starts; they taste it and want more…and
then they don’t know how to get out of it.
At Noel’s hotel room, Renée comments that it may have
mattered when she was a child…and maybe even when she was an adolescent, but
now it no longer matters; this is a time in her life when she needs his last name
the least. When Noel asks why she wouldn’t need it now, Renée replies that she
didn’t need it before and now she needs it even less…she has no use for it.
Noel insists that his last name could help her in several legal matters, but
Renée is only interested in getting help with stopping Fabián so that he can
stop bothering Mauricio and María. Noel doesn’t think it’s easy because once
Fabián gets an idea in his head, it’s hard to get it out. From what he knows,
Fabián’s new whim is to have a family. When Renée suggests that Fabián could
have a family of his own that doesn’t include Anifer, Noel knows that Fabián
will want the family that he thinks belongs to him; in other words, the family
that Mauricio has. After Renée says she has to leave, Noel wants her to promise
that she will return the next day, but Renée wants his assurance that he will
allow Mauricio to come see him. When Noel shakes his head, Renée tells him that
then there is no use in her coming back. (Stick to your guns, girl)
At the resort, D’ulcer comments that she is missing Jorge.
When Valentina comments that her father missed her too when she left and that
he took care of them, D’ulcer retorts that Sammy told her that Jorge had them
on a short leash and very controlled..because that is how Jorge is; he likes to
control everything. Valentina thinks that her father has gotten better, but
D’ulcer remarks that not everything is black or white; her father doesn’t
always do things just for their benefit as Val may think…Jorge has his little
sins. Valentina is annoyed and wants D’ulcer to just come out and say what sins
she is talking about, but D’ulcer doesn’t want to talk badly about their
father; all she can say is that he isn’t such a saint. (As the serpent stalls
for time to concoct something halfway believable.)
At Jorge’s house, Pablo explains that he saw how things were
done in his homeland. The narcos would give the farmers money so that they
could plant their crud instead of their crops. Then they would take the stuff
to the city and get young kids hooked on it. Pablo knows because he saw it
happen to one of his brothers. He then adds that the stuff Baldo has can kill
people and destroy families. When Pablo asks if Baldo wants to destroy his
family, Baldo retorts that Jorge was never with him or his sister; Jorge
doesn’t care about them. Of the two families, Jorge preferred the one he had
there; he didn’t care about him or his sister. Pablo thinks Jorge has changed
and that they can count on him for anything; Baldo should appreciate that he
has a father. Pablo then shares that he didn’t find his father and thinks his
father probably has another family…his father probably doesn’t care about his
mother, Pablo, or his brothers. As Baldo considers what Pablo told him, Jorge
arrives and asks Pablo if he needs something; so Baldo quickly interjects that
Pablo came for Lili’s phone. After Pablo leaves, Baldo quickly goes to the
bathroom and throws the contents of the baggie down the toilet. . (Write that
down too. The second sane thing in this show.)
The Next Day—
[Mexican Version: Toño is at the school when the teacher
reminds him that his turn for presenting to the children is coming up. Toño
tries to postpone it, but the teacher reminds him that he has already postponed
it twice. He can talk about his job or whatever work he has a passion for. (In
other words, just stand up there for your allotted time like a deaf mute, you
zero.)]
At Anitoys, Jorge stares at Kika as she signs her contract
with the Cooperative. After Mau dances around in celebration, Kika comments
that the company could use a feminine touch, but Jorge thinks that they have
more important things to do. Kika remembers that there is someone who likes to
ask for more time and postpones everything. When Jorge starts to respond,
Mauricio tells them to stop since this is a time to celebrate. Kika thinks they
can celebrate on their own because she is very busy…that’s the life of a
businesswoman. Before she leaves, Kika suggests that they have a meeting to
discuss diversification; she’ll probably send someone else to the meeting since
she is leaving on a trip and doesn’t know when she will return. As she looks at
Jorge, she adds, “And I may NEVER come back!” (Jorge, write this down, “I am so
stupid.” A hundred times.)
At Fabián’s house, Fabián can’t believe his finances are that
bad. When García lists everything that Fabián has been spending on, Fabián
thinks it’s just a bad streak of luck; everything will get better once he gets
his daughter….she will be very helpful to his company just as she has been with
Mauricio’s company. He doesn’t care what García thinks; he has the company and,
with Anifer, it will be an even better company. Fabián isn’t worried about
Anitoys as a competitor, especially after the ‘helpful hand’ they gave Anitoys.
At Anitoys, Mauricio tries to convince Jorge to go after
Kika, but Jorge wants to resolve his personal and professional issues…that’s
the way it should be! Mauricio thinks Jorge should go tell Kika what he just
said, but Jorge insists that he has already asked Kika for time several times;
and he isn’t going to do it again. Mauricio just doesn’t understand Jorge; so
Jorge adds that by the time he resolves all his problems, Kika may not want to
hear from him. This time Jorge wants to do things right…for her. Mau wonders if
Jorge is really willing to let Kika go…the woman he loves…just like that? (“Because we both
know, Jorge, she rocks a bed.” )
At Vero’s house, Vero tells Toño that she has been thinking
that she really doesn’t need to look for a job because she is looking into a
business venture; if things go well, it’ll go well for them. When she shows him
her plan, Toño reminds her that he is supposed to be the investor this time
around…and wonders if she doesn’t trust. Vero does trust him; that is why she
supported him in investing in the Cooperative; though things didn’t work out
well. The good thing was that they didn’t invest all their money in the
Cooperative. When Toño remains quiet and stares at her, Vero gets suspicious
and wonders why he has that guilty look…(How long have you two Mensa candidates been
together? And you don't have a clue? You may be passed over again.)
Though Vero really doesn’t want to hear it, she demands to
know if he invested all their money in the Cooperative; so Toño assures her
that he didn’t invest ALL of it…just almost all of it.
At Jorge’s house, D’ulcer and the kids arrive from their
vacation. D’ulcer is SO happy to be home, but Val wants to know where Baldo and
Lili are. D’ulcer assumes that they went off to live on their own, but Jorge
tells her, “No.” When she continues that the twins should be getting ready to
leave their house, Jorge gives her a look that says , “Shut up and let’s go talk elsewhere.” Once in the bedroom, Jorge
tells D’ulcer that they need to have a serious talk. D’ulcer assumes that the
twins accused her of the disappearance of the IDs and denies everything, but
Jorge tells her it’s not about the twins; it’s about them…as a couple. After
Jorge notices Val and Samuel listening and goes to close the door, he tells
Dulce, “I have tried; I really have…but it’s just that I don’t love you
anymore. I don’t want you; and I think we should get a divorce…” Dulce is
beside herself and tells Jorge, “No, no no! You can’t do this to me; I gave up
so many things for you…for my family, my children and everyone! Are you crazy?”
Jorge reminds D’ulcer, “The kids are just outside; we shouldn’t make such a
scandal. After all, I’m only offering what you asked for when you left this
house.” D’ulcer thinks Jorge is still obsessing over the Peruvian, but she is
not going to give him the divorce. Even though it’ll be a farce, it’ll be
better that way; they will be together as it should be. Jorge remarks that this
is between the two of them; and he doesn’t love her anymore…it’s finished. As
D’ulcer says loudly that this hasn’t ended, Samuel knocks furiously on the door
and asks why they are fighting. Val then opens the door and asks what’s going
on…
At Vero’s house, Vero wonders if Toño didn’t learn
anything from their hard times. Because each one of them was doing their own
thing, they ended up separated. Toño is sorry and admits he is an IDIOT (he
finally caught on to what Viewer Ville has always known); he just wanted to
show her that he could handle things and make good decisions for the family.
Vero is pissed that, once again, she will have to forget about HER plans. She
walks away telling Toño not to talk to her. Toño looks at Esperanza who had
been listening; so she also tells him not to talk to her. Once alone, Toño
takes a good look at the possible investment Vero had shown him and seems
impressed.
At Jorge’s house, Jorge tells D’ulcer that she can stay
with the house; he’s not going to fight her for it. When he tells her that he
will look for another place for himself and the kids, Samuel states he doesn’t
want to leave (no surprise, little barnacle), but Val wants to go with her
father. D’ulcer still wonders why Val is so resentful; so Val reiterates that
she left when she needed her most…D’ulcer left her alone at the hotel…then
D’ulcer returns as if nothing had happened. When Val asks if D’ulcer wants her
to continue, D’ulcer counters, “So I’m the witch and your father is the saint.
But you know what, it’s quite the contrary. Do you remember when you ran over
your father’s godfather? Your father told you that his godfather was going to
send you to the juvenile detention center, but you know what? Your father made
that up!” Samuel, who can’t keep his mouth shut, wants to know if his father
really threatened Val with that…and it wasn’t true; and Val thinks D’ulcer is
making things up to set her against her father. D’ulcer knows she made many
mistakes, but she would never threaten Val just to control her. When D’ulcer
offers to call the godfather so he can confirm, Jorge stops her and admits she
is right. At the time, he wasn’t who he is now. He didn’t know what to do; he
needed to control them and wanted them to obey him. It is true that Val was
never in jeopardy of going to jail. He came to an agreement with his godfather;
he would never files charges on her and any costs would be covered by Jorge.
(Run Kika, run, and never talk to this mixed up idiot again.)
At Noel’s hotel room, Renée tells Noel that he needs some
brightness in his life; so Noel agrees that next time she comes, he will go out
for a small walk, but, right now, he prefers to have coffee with her and talk.
Renée agrees and suggests that Noel tell her what problem he had with Don Bosco
and if it had anything to do with the faking of his death. After Noel responds
that it pains him to recall the past, Renée wonders if Noel will ever agree to
see Mauricio or if he is going to play hide-and-seek for the rest of his life.
At Jorge’s house, Jorge is alone with D’ulcer as he tells
her that what she has done has no name. D’ulcer just wants Jorge to see that she
is capable of anything. She hadn’t said anything because they were reconciling
and there was no use in setting the kids against him. Jorge wonders if she
really thinks it’s better to set them against him now that their relationship
is over. D’ulcer warns that if it’s really over, she will not make things easy
for him. If she put up with Yuriria’s monsters, it was only to give him another
opportunity. When Jorge retorts that he is the one who gave her another
opportunity, D’ulcer reiterates that she gave up a lot for him and the
children. Jorge is in disbelief that D’ulcer would come back because of a
mother’s love or because she loves him, but D’ulcer doesn’t care if he believes
her or not. Jorge knows that she returned because she couldn’t have the life
she wanted with Isauro. That is why she came back; she didn’t have any other
option. D’ulcer then states that Val and Sammy will stay with her and the twins
will have to leave. When she tells him to admit that he failed as a father,
Jorge takes a deep breath and starts to tell her that, if she ever loved him,
she would be willing…but D’ulcer interrupts and tells him she won’t be willing
to do anything; she is NOT Yuriria! Jorge agrees, “No, no you’re not. And you
know why? Because Yuriria was a great woman…she sacrificed herself for her
children; she forged ahead all by herself. Yuriria fought for her family until
her death! And YOU can’t even measure up to Yuriria…not even to her heels.”
After D’ulcer slaps him, Jorge tells D’ulcer that he has been a gentleman up to
now, but that has ended. The one who will leave this house will be her; he will
make sure of it! (Yeehaww! Jorge found some!!). As he walks out, D’ulcer shouts
that, in this country, the law takes the side of the mother. (OH how we wish we
could hear D'ulcer say that from her cell.)
At Neron’s shop, Pablo tells Nerón that he never found
his father; he only got the letter that was sent with Melina. When he was to
meet his father, ICE showed up and detained him. When Nerón advises that Pablo
shouldn’t hold a grudge against be his father, Pablo confesses that he is very
resentful, and even detests his father, but Nerón insists that Pablo doesn’t
know what reasons his father had and that he shouldn’t misjudge him without
knowing all the facts. He then adds that Pablo shouldn’t be resentful; he
should use the experience to his advantage and be a good father to the baby
that is on its way. Pablo agrees and will try to be a good father…not like his
own. (But there is always that Tree...Fruit...thing lurking around to muck
things up.)
At Anitoys, Renée assures Mauricio that Noel doesn’t have
any problems with him; the problem was with his father and Noel’s wife’s death;
and now Noel is afraid of being put in jail for faking his death. When she
mentions that she has to leave because she has to move in with her godfather
since R&R are getting ready to bring the children home with them, Mauricio
suggests that she move back in with him, but Renée doesn’t think it would be
appropriate since María is still there…it would be very uncomfortable for
María. (Nice try, Mau)
Later at Mau’s house, Anifer eavesdrops as Mauricio tells
María that he doesn’t want to be apart from Renée any longer. He explains that
Renée is afraid that María will feel uncomfortable; and he only wants to find a
way so that they can all live together comfortably. After María assures
Mauricio that Renée does not make her feel uncomfortable, Mauricio is very
happy and states that now he only needs to get Anifer to agree; so Anifer walks
in and tells them she was listening. Anifer is fine with the idea of Renée
coming to live with them since Renée is part of their family.
At Fabián’s house, Fabián walks into a redecorated room
and comments to García that just about everything is ready for his daughter’s
arrival.
When he asks if everything is ready so that they can win
their case, García nods and assures him that they will win the case. Fabián
then remarks that if that isn’t the case, then he will have to take out that
ace he has up his sleeve.
On the day of the hearing, all parties are present as
García states that the reason for the case is that Fabián wants full custody of
his daughter, Ana Fernanda Lopez-Garza Cruz. When Fabián interrupts and states that
Ani’s last name should be Carbajal Cruz, the judge tells him that he doesn’t
have the right to speak. When García continues that Fabián is suing for full
custody against María and Ani’s supposed father, Mauricio interrupts and states
that he IS Ani’s father; so Jorge pulls him back and tries to calm him down,
but Mauricio continues to rant.
After Fabián states that will be decided by the judge, the
judge asks them all to remain quiet.
At Neron’s shop, Nerón has been thinking about Pablo’s father
and suggests to Pablo that he should call him to see what is going on, but
Pablo thinks that if his father had wanted to look for him, he would have
already done it. Pablo concedes that his father doesn’t have his phone number,
but Melina does; and if his father wanted, he could ask her for it. Nerón then
suggests that Pablo at least call Melina to see what is going on, but Pablo
thinks there is no use in doing that. He wants to leave things as they are. (Wait!
What did he say? That makes sense. Can't
you reconsider? Somebody at LooneyVision is probably going to be fired.)
At the hearing, the judge brings up that the second
charge being brought by Fabián is that Mauricio pretended to be Anifer’s father
knowing full well that he wasn’t. When Jorge is asked to explain, Jorge states
that Mauricio always believed that he was Anifer’s biological father. When he
adds that it was Fabián that brought Anifer from Chiapas and made his client
believe that Anifer was his daughter, the judge states that if there is
evidence regarding that, then it should be presented since he hasn’t seen it.
Jorge informs the judge that there is a witness that could testify for them,
Juan Perez; and they are looking for him. In addition, Anifer could also
testify how she came to the city. When the judge assumes that they have no
concrete evidence, Jorge confirms that they don’t…at the moment. After the
judge asks where the mother was during the time, Jorge explains that María was
in prison under a false accusation that they presume was actualized by Fabián.
Before questioning María, the judge asks Mauricio why he registered Anifer with
his last name after finding out that she wasn’t his daughter; so Mauricio
explains that, at first, he didn’t know Anifer was not his daughter; everything
appeared to confirm that she was his. By the time he found out the truth, he
loved Anifer as if she were his own daughter. After he adds that he couldn’t
desert her or permit her to go with…a man like Fabián, Mau admits to using
falsified documents to register Anifer as his daughter. García and Fabián smirk
in satisfaction. (Does Mau have his Barney backpack and his piece? Now would be
a good time to just shoot Fab.)
At Jorge’s house, Lili walks into her bedroom where
D’ulcer is getting ready to help her pack. Lili chides her for trying to throw
her out and advises D’ulcer that she was planning on leaving with Pablo that
afternoon anyway; so D’ulcer can save her sharp as a knife words. D’ulcer then
advises Lili not to bother waiting for her father because he left early and she
doesn’t know when he’ll return; if Lili leaves now, she can save herself from
getting a sermon. Lili wants to wait so that she can get her part of the money
that her mother left, but D’ulcer wishes her luck in getting it all…Lili will
be lucky if she gets part of it.
At the hearing, the judge asks María why she told Anifer
that her father was Mauricio; so María explains that when she met Fabián, he
told her that his name was Mauricio, but she only has her word as evidence.
When the judge asks why she didn’t report the incident when she found out the
truth, María declares two reasons: 1) Her daughter adores Mauricio and Mauricio
acted as a true father and 2) she was afraid that if she told the truth, Fabián
would try to take her daughter from her. The judge then states that, though she
was acting in good faith, María was still acting under false pretenses and asks
María if she agrees; so María does agree…
