Corazón Que Miente, Week 7 (7/16/18), Thursday Update: Night Games

Amalia takes Lety and her giant convalescent teddy-bear over to visit Santi, who is predictably hideous to her. After she leaves he hugs the teddy a little. At least he didn't throw it on the floor with the spaghetti.

Whirls and twirls of giddy shopping: wedding dresses for Mari & Carmen, diamond rings for Al & Liso. Carmen eats way too many unhealthy snacks.

Dem continues to play-act his "change of attitude." (Hasn't anyone told him you need a new hairdo for that?) He tells both Alonso and Sara he still doesn't agree with the match, but since it's a done deal, he'll pay for the wedding.

Sara and Carmen have a planning session in the garden, where Carmen continues to mainline the Pepperidge Farm. Any bets on when she's going to fall down another set of stairs?

Dem calls up his "best girl" and makes plans for a hot evening.

Noe stops by to pick up his wife & daughter and is buttonholed by Elena, who tells him she thinks Rog attacked him because he saw them out to dinner together, and they'd better not see each other again. Of course Amalia overhears this and gets all pouty and distant.

Ed drops in on the no-rent kids and warns Liso not to get entangled with Sefiro: he's bad news. Liso responds that while his father may have sold himself to Demian, the rest of the family wasn't part of the deal.

Cris tells Lety not to give up. Anything can happen. Even monarchs have left their thrones for love!

Rafi takes a call making plans for a hot evening. When Ren asks about it, Rafi gives her some prime antagonista mentoring: "What can't be fixed in bed can't be fixed at all."

Mari comes home with her wedding dress and tells Leo they need to talk. Before she can get two sentences out, he explodes: she can't marry Alonso, he'll ruin her life, etc. etc. And by the way, he has wildly unfatherly feelings for her. She jumps on the escape bicycle and takes off.

Ren gets another call from the disembodied mouth and tells him he'd better leave her alone or else.

Both Carmen and the Padre tell Leo his timing sucks. And also his motivation.

Rafi and Dem finally hit the sack...with Ed and The Madame, respectively. Is there a bingo square for LOVE QUADRANGLE?

Mari and Al make a rendezvous "to talk," but they end up at the shuttered paddleboat livery, where Al (and Liso, behind the scenes) have planned a picturesque engagement kickoff: a trip out into the dark water, fireworks, and a remote-controlled battleship to deliver the ring. Let's all enjoy it, because the stormclouds are gathering.

Always fun commentary Blue Lass. Like this:

Sara and Carmen have a planning session in the garden, where Carmen continues to mainline the Pepperidge Farm. Any bets on when she's going to fall down another set of stairs?

Yes, Carmen seems to be doing all she can to bring on another diabetic coma. Good for somebody's Bingo card.

Loved the "prime antagonista mentoring" but could have done without seeing both the Rafaela/Eduardo coupling and Demian with his professional. Ugh.

The escape bicycle was fine. The overwrought romance scene with fireworks, exploding hearts and a little motorboat was just ridiculous. The one part about that whole cursi episode that I liked was Lisandro saying "Just remember, Mariela really loves me more than you."

Also annoyed by the stupid jealousy setup between Lety's mom and dad. Sometimes I like side plots, but that one is just unnecessary and irritating. Ugh.

Do agree with Padre Dan....it's time for the horny sculptor to get out of town!

Thanks for the great recap and funny lines, Blue Lass.

Like your funnyness bluelass. That foursome was really kinda ridiculous.

I liked the romantic boat/heartshaped
Fire works. I thought that battleship
Was a bomb cuz some folks don't want them together. But alas it was a ring.
Well they'll be happy for awhile. I've
Never seen fireworks in a heartshape, nice.

Thanks Blue Lass, fun recap.

Great bunnycap, Blue Lass! Thank you!!!

Does this story take place in Puebla? Is it safer at night than Mexico City? Why was Mari out riding her bicycle in the dark? Has she never heard of stranger danger?

Nina, like you, I also was afraid that little boat had a bomb in it and was being remote controlled by Rogelio.

Leo could put his big boy pants on, admit defeat, take that chronic "I've just swallowed a fly" look on his face and just leave town. But no,,,, he has to stick around to torture us all some more.

Kissing on water (in a boat with fireworks) is not same as my bingo square "kissing in water." Bummer.

Blue Lass: Maraming Salamat po for the detailed recap!

Thanks, Blue Lass. “Love quadrangle”: perfect!

Sure agree with Father Dan that Leo was just plain old selfish in having to tell Mariela how he felt about her. He never had to tell her. I was surprised she didn’t run out screaming in disgust pulling out her hair and rending her clothes.

Love a good bridal fashion show but they could have done better with the dresses they had Mariela try on. The wardrobe department must had more wedding gowns on hand after all of these novela weddings.

Good decision for Santiago to be back at work than sitting with the teddy bear in his room.

Fireworks! Of course! Too funny.

I am just catching up on missed episodes since out of town so havent read the blog in last week but just noticed there are no episodes playong next week. Did something happen? Does anyone know? Please trll me anything you know. If it was mentioned previously i wouldnt have read it since far behind. Thank you

OOPS. Sorry. Skip that last message. I forgot this is a morning show!!!!! And there is absolutely NADA i want to watch now a days in the evening. How i wish they would have a good telenovela at night. Univision has a LOT OF NERVE!!!! So annoying.

Lack of watchable shows in the evening is annoying Anonymous! If we didn't have a DVR, I'd be even more unhappy.

Jarifa, thanks for mentioning the wedding shop scene. Every dress was a horror. Really surprised. And Mariela looked dismal in all of them.

Maybe meant to be foreshadowing...that this boda is going to be interruptus for a while?
Maybe Demian owns the bridal shop!

I know, right? I may have to give up on the evening entirely. I just hope they keep the traditional fare going in the middle of the day for us little old ladies. Or I may have to go over to Telemundo...

I believe it's not a DERAILED WEDDING for bingo purposes unless it actually starts first, so here's hoping we get to see whatever hideous creation Mariela picked out.

Thank you, Blue Lass for such an entertaining recaplet of all the silly goings on in Puebla rights now (the exception being the earth shaking beneath their feet a day or two ago). Your writing is too good to be "wasted" on telenovelas. But I'm sure glad you are wasting it on us.

I, for one, loved the cursi delivery of the ring and the fireworks. At least it wasn't as showy as what Jero did for Renata in CME. Anything to take me away from all the gratuitous violence the evening fare gives us is welcome.

JudyB--Did you forget that the protagonist is NEVER seen in the REAL wedding dress until she is delivered to the church or walks up the aisle? So, you can toss all the ones Mari tried on into the dustbin of history (thankfully).

Anon@very early in the morning. So you were fooled! Because CQM comes on at 11, it is sometimes hard to realize (Yiikes, it's almost on now) it. Middle of the day is Telelalaland's Wasteland. Too bad. See you all later. I like to watch it live when I can. (Then I'll go weed my garden.)

While watching today's episode, I saw an ad for La Piloto? Looks like a sequel perhaps. I didn't watch the first season but maybe some of you did. In our low-def broadcast (thank you ATT Uverse) I could not make out any of the other info.

Update for Friday, 7/20:

This is going to be a wee baby bunnycap -- maybe even a hamstercap -- because I think I got some bad shellfish... :O

Leo leaves goodbye notes for Mari and Carmen and lights out for New York and Barcelona. They are weirdly upset.

In the pool with Mari, Santi feels a "twinge" in his "thigh." Gurgle.

Rafi plays innocent with Karla, who suspects Ed of having an affair.

Al sends Mari 10 dozen roses, and she still doesn't manage to come clean about her Sugar Daddy.

Santi's nastiness finally drives Lety into Julio's arms.

Liso and Sefiro still haven't found W#2, but Liso has a friend who could throw some profitable business their way.

Take a breath and concentrate: Rog tells Amalia Noe's been hitting on Elena, so Amalia slaps him right out of the blue, driving him to confide in Elena and *almost* kiss her, and when Elena drops by the house later with something for Carmen, Rog follows her and calls Amalia, who comes out just as Elena is saying they need to talk about "last night." Uy.

The docs give Santi a choice: either risk another delicate surgery, or risk the paralysis becoming permanent or even spreading.

Dem tries to bribe the Madame into revealing something confidential about one of her clients.

Renata's shadowy crank-caller shows up at the Ferrer house in the middle of dinner. Yikes!

Oooh...so sorry about the shellfish. Feeling nauseous (or worse) and trying to pound out a recap is the pits. But you covered all the bases, Brave Girl.

Just hate the stupid side story of jealousy and pseudo-marital problems with Noe and his wife. Just dumb and unnecessary. Ugh and double ugh.

And worried about what horrible "muerte en vida" idea Demian has cooked up to derail the wedding. But loved the final scene where Renata's friend showed up and refused to pretend to be her lawyer. Not a bad-looking guy either. We shall see!

Poor Julio is headed for heartbreak so I hope the writers have someone in reserve for him. Since they adore romances crossing class lined, maybe Lisandro's sister will fall for him eventually. It's the Matchmaker in me---can't bear to see anybody stranded.

Thanks for the recap Blue Lass and do hope you'll be feeling better in the morning.

Feel better, Blue. Inspite of the shellfish, you came through with all we needed. Fabricio surprised everyone (me, too), especially Rafie who took one look at him and couldn't believe he was Ren's daddy's attorney who has known her all her life.

There is a board meeting and Dem elevates Santi's position--everybody votes yes.

I was afraid there with Santi getting aqua-therapy that he was going to get some other kind of therapy with Mari spreading his legs apart that way.

Where was Sara today? Oh, wedding planning session with Carmen.

Thank you Blue Lass for your bunnycaplet. You're a trouper! Eating bad food is the pits. Been there, suffered that. (((Hugs)))

It was a "meh" episode.
Finally, Leo decamps!
So sick of sullen, seething, surly, snappish, schmucky Santi.

So glad Mari said "No" to the dresses we saw.

Thank you, Blue Lass. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Another entertaining one.

I hope Leonardo actually does leave town and stays away for a while.

Noé is really tempting the fates running to Elena to complain about his wife. Not too smart.

Santiago has to have the surgery: for drama’s sake. Should be fun.

For the Bingo square, Need for Blood Donor, it sure wouldn't take much to have Santi in a crisis during his operation and he needs a blood transfusion. Then it turns out he and Al don't match--but that's common anyway. It has to be much more dramatic than that to prove Al isn't Dem's son--which is what we keep hoping.

OTOH, do we really want Al to be the son of..."sullen, seething, surly, snappish, schmucky" Leo? (If the label sticks to him as well as Santi, let's use it. Thanks, Doris.)

ANITA! "Because CQM comes on at 11, it is sometimes hard to realize (Yikes, it's almost on now) it. Middle of the day is Telelalaland's Wasteland." Because I was out of town for awhile I had forgotten it was a morning show (scary memory loss for something so important!!), but honestly, I do not know why it is considered part of their wasteland. I like it way way way better than any of the other pathetically violent telenovelas currently in prime spots (including LA PILOTA coming soon). In fact, I am thoroughly frustrated by the current evening shows. Despite the usual dose of super evil guys like rogelio and damien, at least there are a lot of very nice characters and not any constant disturbing, gratuitous violence.
Do you or anyone else know when we can expect some 'REGULAR' type telenovela coming back to prime time????
I'd love to have that to look forward to.

Anonymous 11:17, there is a nice compilation of current & upcoming shows on 5ft Latina's blog, El Cohete: https://5ftlatina.com/cohete/calendar/proximasupcoming/

Mil gracias, Blue lass!! This will be helpful! I have now bookmarked this forum. I do have telemundo and unimas though never tuned in to them before...so NOW I only wish I could get some comments on any of the shows that are worth following. I only need one more besides CORAZON.

Ditto! Great to have this 5ftlatina forum to see upcoming. Thanks. And, I, too would LOOOOOOVE to know if anyone can recommend any of these shows on unimas or telemundo--even if already started (as long as I can catch up on ON DEMAND!).
THANKS Blue Lass

El Cohete also has some recaps and comment forums -- bang around the website and see what you can discover. It's full of goodies. ;}

May I second what you are saying about El Cohete, Blue Lass. I participate on both blogs.
