Corazón Que Miente, Week 8 (7/23/18) –Thursday Update: How to Derail a Wedding

Step One—Have a Gun Handy and a Blackmailed, formerly Un-corruptible Police Official in Your Hands.
Episode #39 -7/26/18
*Forty-four minutes before the wedding, Al can’t wait till she’s his. He wants to move it up. Mari teases him. They love each other tantito.

*Rogelio hands over the carefully wrapped gun that LEONARDO Del Rio used to murder Lucía Ferrer. Lic. Preciado wants to know how Rog knows. Rog says because he is telling him so. He tells Preciado to run the ballistics. It will confirm it. As to where he found it? It was lying around Leo’s house. Now, Preciado is to do what he has to do OR ELSE the dead girl might just turn up.

*Julio gets permission from Noé to date Lety, flowers, hugs and all.

*Fab is hired by Ed to head up the litigation half of the legal office. Ed assures Fab (and himself) he did his due diligence on his background and experience. He asks Ed for a fixed salary and a % of the commission of any work he brings in. He calls Ren to boast. It’s a gold mine for them. He’s blessed to be on the inside of Ed’s operations. Ren doesn’t see how.

*Leo has shown up in Puebla dressed as the father of the bride for the wedding. He and Denise are calmly sitting at an outdoor café. Denise begs him not to take a pistol with him. He says he has to.

*Noé is ready to take an army-sized kettle of chilaquiles for the fiesta. The rest of the family will just have to squeeze in and touch knees. Elsewhere Liso tells Flo to hurry up. After all, he’s the padrino.

*Santi comes to Al and asks for a truce. Al says that’s unnecessary. Santi admits his feelings for Mariela were just an illusion. The bros hug. [Santi's sincerity will have to wait.]

*The make-up girl hired is finished with Rafie. Somehow she doesn’t look like an improved version. Kara, OTOH, looks quite elegant. Thus begins the battle of the Royal Headgear.

*Elena and Amalia shoot eye daggers while Cirilla shoots verbal darts at Elena.

*Leo is arrested outside the Ferrer mansion and is hauled away, protesting all the way.

*Folks begin to arrive for the garden wedding venue to mix, but not too closely, as evidenced by Liso and Cris. The groom arrives to cheers, the judge arrives, Fr. Dan is on deck, Ren gets nervous. From the number of chairs arranged for the ceremony, is anyone in Puebla’s high society NOT invited? It doesn't look like the intimate wedding Al and Mari wanted.

*Leo wants a lawyer. The interrogator tells him he was detained for the murder of Lucía Ferrer. He wants to know what Leo was doing with the gun that killed her. Leo is confused. He doesn’t know there are two guns in play.

*Demián arrives with Licenciado Preciado at Leo's Manse. HE needs to talk to Mariela privately. [We get to see the dress. Too bad it will go unused.] Preciado will not allow Carmen to be present, but he allows Dem to corner Mari. This makes her late. Fr. Dan is the first to worry. Dem & Preciado leave. Carmen finds Mari in tears. Mari announces, “DERAILED WEDDING” for all the Bingo players. Mariela is persuaded to talk to Al. She tells him that she can’t marry him, she just can’t. Everybody is sad.

*Dem appears back at his house seemingly from out of nowhere. He’s shocked to hear Al’s news. He offers to go to Mari’s house, but Al wants to go alone. Dem announces in a most serious, officious tone to the assembled guests, that there is to be no wedding and they can all go home—no more food or drink, go directly home.

*Carmen begs Mari to tell her what happened. At first Mari can’t tell her. She tells Carmen no one can ever know—it’s that grave. Carmen swears never to tell anyone if Mari will tell her. Everyone from the Leo Manse has returned. Denise makes it her business to go upstairs and barges in just as Mari was unloading. Carmen throws her out. Denise tells Noé to stand guard at the gates and let no one in. Of course, that means when Al arrives, he isn’t let in, Mari’s orders. He knows less than anyone what is going on, but he stands by her orders. Al pounds and yells. Noé feels sorry for him, but won’t let him in. Al won’t take Noé’s No for an answer and sits down to wait it out.

*So, what is the secret Mari can’t share with anyone? She tells Carmen they arrested Leo outside the Ferrer’s and they have the gun that killed Al’s mother. In a flashback, we see Dem telling Mari they have Leo and the evidence that Leo killed HIS wife, the mother of HIS children. He really lays the guilt onto Mari, whose just had her life destroyed. No charges have been placed on Leo for the moment. He says only Mari can save Leo from spending the rest of his life in prison. Mari knows what that would mean to an artist and a free spirit like Leo. She is told she can save him only by not showing up at the wedding and marrying Al. If she breathes a word of this to anyone, Leo goes to prison. They will know her answer if she shows up at the wedding. They leave. Mari chooses to save Leo.

*Night time and Al is still waiting outside the Leo Manse. The rest of his immediate family arrive. Noé rejects Fr. Dan’s pleas and Sara’s. Dem doesn’t understand what is going on. He’s offended, furious. He needs an explanation, ya! Dem’s compassion spills over and he hugs his sorrowing son. They convince him to leave.

*Carmen lays down the law to Mari’s 37 homies there are to be no questions, no speculation, no gossip, just heartfelt support and just smilin’ through. It’s Mari’s decision whether or not to talk.

*Ren and Rafie are the only ones celebrating. They toast to the success of Dem’s plan—how to apply a living death. Ren says that though she hates Mari and wouldn’t like to be in her shoes, she genuinely feels sorry for her. The Ferrer Posse returns. Dem performs as the peacemaker. Al wants to be alone.

*How can Mari ever tell Al why she stopped the wedding? She tells Carmen she doesn’t plan to tell Al anything, ever. Carmen says she will have to say something, even if it’s a lie—a good one. Mari finally dries her tears, looks longingly at a photo of her and Al in happier days and says she can tell him the only thing he would believe, that she never loved him and she’s in love with Leonardo.

Uuuy, I wonder where that will lead the ex-novios? Will Al give up that easily? Will Sara? Will Carmen? Will Leo—he’s practically got what he wanted, in words at least.

You guys called it! Even with the ugly wedding dress. 😂🤣😅

Thank you, Anita!

Jarifa--Had there been a wedding, would we watch the other 45+ episodes? We MUST find out if Ren is pregnant, or after Al & Mari's one-night stand, if she ends up pregnant. This is the stuff of telenovelas, after all. If they got married, who cares about the clinic Al planned to build for Mari. We need to know if Santi will ever walk again. Which girl will he choose. What about Julio, will he be the odd man out? How are they going to bring Dem down and let Leo's pure love prevail? Is Al Leo's son? These and many other questions need to be answered.....

Thank you, Anita, for your recap! Derailed wedding, and main couple likely to break up in the aftermath.

"Thus begins the battle of the Royal Headgear.". Well said! It looked like Megan and Harry's wedding all over again with the hats and fascinators.
Florencia's taste in dress and hat are truly questionable. Now that daddy cut off her money, she must have found that at Goodwill..

Why can't Julio's suit fit him properly? One size too small makes him look like a stuffed sausage in its casing. I guess that is our visual clue to his economic situation. 😜

Oh, and I have a mini rant over the Cris/Liso thing. Better communication would help. A lot. Hel-lo?!? Cris's frustration is understandable but does he even know Liso is not out of the closet and this is Liso's first encounter of the gay kind? It might help Cris have more patience. Liso has zero experience and is still figuring out how to have a relationship. Okay, rant over.

Doris--I can tell, it wasn't a rant. It was an objective observation. You are absolutely correct. I wasn't going to mention it, but since there are only two gay men in all of Puebla, they are kind of stuck with each other. Cris, coming from the D.F. has presumably had a lot more experience and a lot more places where to go to meet other gay men and is ready to trot right away. Liso hasn't had any of that, he was brought up in this ultra conservative family (where it suits Ed, that is), only freshly recognizing these feeling he's having and is able to talk about it. He doesn't know how the rest of the world will react to it. He imagines being ostracized.

He really needs someone else besides Cris to introduce him to the gay life, lifestyle and what it means to be gay in a world where there are still strong anti-gay prejudices--sometimes physically dangerous. I can't blame him a bit. He's just not ready yet--and may never be.

Some men never come out of the closet and live their whole lives as heterosexuals, married, with children, as a safer alternative. Thank goodness that it changing here and more quickly than we could have imagined.

Holy guacamole! That was a whole lot of everything we love in one episode. And, assuming one of the lovebirds actually said TE AMO TANTO and the MAIN COUPLE BREAK UP, I have double bingo!

Faves:

"The make-up girl hired is finished with Rafie. Somehow she doesn’t look like an improved version."

"Thus begins the battle of the Royal Headgear."

"Carmen...announces, “DERAILED WEDDING” for all the Bingo players."

So now that Mari has come up with the worst possible excuse for not marrying Al, is she going to tell Leo the truth or string him along as well? Yikes!

Santi sure was mooning over Lety at the pre-wedding party. All it took was a little competition, I guess.

Blue Lass--I meant Mari announces, but the end game is the same.

Re Santi: It also took one humongous teddy bear.

Santiago is just annoying.

Wonderful recap Anita. Loved your royal wedding quip. Hated the hats, hated the frippery and hated the derailment. In fact I didn’t even watch it till the end. I hate these cruel heartbreak stories even if we know True Love will prevail in the end. So what! In the very long Meantime everybody is miserable. Bah humbug!

But great recap... thanks.
JudyB on iPad

I agree with you, JudyB, this was way too heartbreaking for me. I hated every second of anticipation knowing it would be a miserable ending but this was as bad as it gets. I was praying they could have thrown us one teeny tiny breadcrumb - e.g showing that Father Dan knew this was an evil setup by his brother and would say something to Alonso like “this is not what it appears. I will get to the bottom of this” Worst part was seeing Alonso hug his Dad. OY OY OY!!! Clearly we cannot really count on Doña Sara. She is always NEVER SUSPICIOUS ENOUGH!!!

AND, P.S. Forgive me but this hat thing ( even when displayed by the Royals) looks just plain stupid to me- - too forced or inauthentic or silly or something! OK —. I know some of you dont like or agree with this comment but I did preface with “forgive me.” 😂😂

Hey, all!

The second season of La Piloto is starting on Sunday on Univision. If you're interested I've got a character list and synopsis up here: https://5ftlatina.com/cohete/2018/07/25/la-piloto-2-characters-and-synopsis/

Kat

I've only watched bits and pieces of this TN. Caught the ending of this epi, with the weeping bride on the floor in a puddle of tulle (or whatever the sheer fabric was). I love a good derailed wedding--always lots of drama and blubbering. Also liked the deserted wedding venue, with the evil plotters toasting their success.

Has anyone ever done a list of TNs with derailed weddings? I remember Jacqueline Bracamonte stripping off her wedding gown and running away in her lingerie. Also Lucero in Soy Tu Duena, escaping her derailed wedding and sitting disconsolate in the shower. She discarded her dress off a cliff as she drove to the family hacienda, I think.

Probably more recent examples could be cited. I don't have the memory to create a list at this point.

Thanks for the recaps and comments!

La Paloma -in both those weddings, IIRC, the runaway brides were marrying some other guy and not the male protagonist. And didn't Lucero have three different wedding dresses? The one in the opening credits never appeared in the telenovela.

"Also liked the deserted wedding venue, with the evil plotters toasting their success."
It was like Denny Crane and Alan Shore at the end of a Boston Legal episode!

All I need is "Dramatic moment enhanced by thunderstorm" and I'll have a bingo on one of my cards.

I did not recognize Denise without her big bright red lips. However, her cleavage made quite the assertive appearance. ~rolls eyes~

Surely one of the bingo cards has a "withholding important information"? Carmen and Mari not telling people why the wedding is off just seems really stupid. Everyone is going to learn, sooner or later, that Leo is arrested for the murder of Lucia!

I'm guessing the PUP let Leo go as soon as the wedding was derailed. (How anyone can perceive this as a normal judicial procedure -- especially someone with a medical degree -- is perplexing.)

Anita, thank you for the recap. I was
On the edge of my seat wanting to know
What lies demwit was telling Mari. Why
She shouldn't marry al. And now she'll
Lie to al. She'll probably be preggers for al. And lie again that the baby is someone else's. prim Soap opera stuff.

And dem-wit pretending to be so very heartbroken.
There's a special place in hell for him. I hate it when the ingrates sit
Around toasting to their success at
Wrecking people's lives. But they'll get theirs and it won't be pretty.

This was good Anita. Now I'll read the comments later, gotta go to the super market.

La Paloma--I do have a list of derailed weddings, such as it is (short), since I haven't been watching tns that long.

Nina--Thanks for your lusty comments. Always a good read, even if a bit of deciphering is necessary first!

Episode #40 – 7/27/18: The Aftermath, So Sad - pt.1
*In the solace of Mariela’s bedroom, Carmen asks Mari not to say those things she’s planning to tell Alonso. It will destroy him. Mari is sure that it will be easier if he hates her. Carmen still thinks there might be a way to save the situation. Mari doesn’t—how else is there to save Leo.

*Al replays in his mind all the nasty things Mari did to him and his suspicions toward Leo. Mari replays all the good ones of Al. Al calls. She doesn’t answer. Tears fall.

*Lic. Preciado is talking to “someone” when Leo is brought in. He dismisses his assistant (who now has a name), Sanabria, who was most anxious to interrogate Leo. Preciado tells Leo he’s free to go. Leo suspects Demián is mixed up in all this. Preciado won’t tell him anything other than the ballistics prove the gun was used to kill Lucía. If the police have the gun, Leo declares, what guarantee is there he won’t get rearrested? Preciado says none and advises Leo to leave the city. When Sanabria returns he’s shocked to hear Preciado say there isn’t enough proof to arrest Leo formally. He tells Sanabria to butt out and follow orders.

*Sara tries to rouse Al and tells him no one will bother him, but proceeds to bother him herself. He responds and pours out his heart to her. He can only think of one absurd reason why this happened, but he’ll wait to hear from Mari’s own lips. Maybe it’s not too late to recover their relationship. He tearfully says he can’t live without her. Sara is willing to help, talk to Mari, anything. Al asks her not to.

*Rafie counsels Ren not to put any pressure on Al for details. Ren is overjoyed that now the way is clear for her to get her shiny, manicured, claws back into Al. She heads for his room. She’s all sweetness and light. Al is polite to her.

*Denise is waiting for Leo as he emerges from the municipal building. He doesn’t understand anything that just happened to him. He needs to talk to Mari. Denise tells him there was no BODA.

*Everyone has been calling Mari. Mari tells Carmen she only has one call to make before talking to Al. It’s to Dem. She tells him she’s going to talk to Al. Dem warns her about telling him the truth. She says only that she’s going to tell him something he’ll believe.

*Santi and Al talk. Santi wonders that it must have been a serious reason for Mari to leave him at the altar. Al needs to know, too. Mari calls. They’ll meet later.

*Mari leaves before Leo and Denise arrive back at the Manse. Carmen is not surprised he’s free. He must talk to Mari. He needs to know why there was no wedding. Carmen tells him it’s a private matter. He needs to be patient, wait a few days, and urges him to go back to wherever he came from.

Episode #40 – 7/27/18 - pt.2
*In an apparently very short day, Mari and Al meet in a city park after dark.

Mari starts it—
“I know I owe you an explanation.
We can never be together.
There’s no way not to hurt you.
All the rumors were true, I was always in love with Leo.
I made you fall in love with me and agreed to marry you so I could regain my lands.
I used you.
I realized I couldn’t go through with the wedding.
You don’t deserve this. You didn’t have anything to do with the theft of my lands.
I realized you were in love with me and I took advantage of it.
It’s the truth.
I’m sorry.”

Al ends it—
“I can’t believe you stooped so low.
And all you can say is you’re sorry?
Sorry doesn’t cut it, after breaking my heart into little pieces. What about our dreams of being together, making love?
There’s nothing more you can say.
What is now no lie is that you are on my list of worst nightmares.
I promise you this, I will never help regain your lands or build that clinic.
Remember these words well, I fulfill all my promises.”

[I guess this means they can’t still be friends.] He leaves Mari and she realizes what it took to say those things to him and how quickly he turned on her. She’s sad.

Episode #40 – 7/27/18 - pt.3
*Fr. Dan arrives to talk to Mari back at the Manse. Like it or not, he tells Carmen, she’s going to have to talk to him. Since she’s out, he asks Carmen if Leo had anything to do with her decision. She says no, but Carmen is deeply hurt by EVERYONE in his family (meaning Demián).

*Denise and Leo are ready to leave – again. Leo asks Carmen to watch out for Mari and not to let anyone fool her. He swears he had nothing to do with Lucía’s death. She believes him.

*Mariela walks around the shopping district in Puebla, replaying all her wounding words to Al and his wounding words to her.

*Daddy Ed comes to rub it in Liso’s face that his position in the family legal business has now been filled. Liso tells him, in effect, don’t do him any favors, he’s tired of being under his dad’s control and he’s doing very well, thank you. Flo and Julio arrive and Daddy Ed overreacts to Julio’s presence. Then he excuses himself and leaves. (RuhRoh!!!)

*Ren wakes Al up for a bici ride. She has to manhandle him in order to get him up. Man she’s pushy and loving it. Mari, OTOH, only has Carmen. Mari is taking the day off from the clinic. Fr. Dan arrives and won’t take no for an answer. He confronts her. What she did, no one does. It’s the last thing he ever expected of her. The guilt hangs heavy over her head. She says she loves Al with all her heart, but marrying him would put someone else’s life at risk. He asks if this has anything to do with Dem? How? Mari spills the frijoles all over Dan. Dan is ready to go have it out with his anti-bro. Mari points out that if he says anything, Dem will know she told him and they’ll rearrest Leo.

*Lety gets a call from Santi. He wants to ask her forgiveness for being such a jerk. He invites her out for a restaurant meal. She doesn’t think her novio would like it. He doesn’t and they have a loud discussion about it, right there in the clinic. It even rouses Dr. Fausto out of his office. They decide to leave it undecided and Lety will go to lunch with Santi.

*Ren and Al have had their bici ride. He admits he feels better now.

*There’s a confab among the three guys. Al tells Liso and Santi that Mari called off the wedding because she’s in love with Leo. Liso and Santi don’t believe it for a minute. Al has decided to make Mari pay. From now on, no one is to help her get those lands back. [Fair warning to Liso, I guess.]

*Julio goes home after the Lety-Santi thing. He’s probably feeling a little blue. Rogelio doesn’t help matters by baiting him with not knowing who all his ma was messing with before hooking up with Rog. It’s no wonder he doesn’t know who his father is.

*Ed has called Elena to his office for a private chat. He grills her on what HER son was doing in Liso’s office. Has he forgotten, queries Elena [and explains as much to us] Julio is HIS son, too? Ba-da-boom

[That’s curtains for any Flo/Julio match, but nice when he finds out he has two siblings he gets along with.]

[I guess this means they can’t still be friends.]

JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA. You are too much.

Thank you for your recap, Anita!!! Not much happened in this episode, as far as advancing the plot, beyond all the post-dejarlo plantada wailing and gnashing of teeth. Ugh ….. I hate these type episodes; waste of a good hour.

Wow, my guess that Ed is Juli’s dad was spot on. Not that seeing that was like rocket science. lol

Another Bingo square checked off “Main couple break up”.

Nina - Your prediction that Mari is pregnant is probably correct.

So apparently Leo’s arrest is all being kept quiet. Thank goodness Fr. Dan knows the truth!

Now to wait and see what Renata’s next move will be.

"[I guess this means they can’t still be friends.]" --- snort!!!

Doris--Renata's move is soooooo predictable. We'll just have to suffer through her machinations, knowing it won't work in the end. Besides.....she's married, right? Will Fabby boy give her the divorce if it means she marries into a lot of money? Of course, by then, he'll realizes DimDemSum has no cash and it makes more sense to fleece him out of anything he has left. I'm ok with more intrigue.

Also, Leo was never officially arrested. My bad. He was DETAINED and then let go. No paperwork. The re-arrest is the threat to hang over Mariela. She thinks he was arrested.

Can't wait for the Julio/Flo thing to come to light. Daddy Ed will have a cow (and not another son) if he ever sees them holding hands or heaven forfend, kissing. Yowzee! Poor Julio--left out in the cold again. Any Spare Girls out there for him? Do we have to invent one for him?

Oh, I was so busy with these two episodes, I forgot to cross off, "POISONING," on my Bingo Card. My cross-offs are all over the place with little hope of getting any to line up in CQM, since "GALAN ENGAGED TO SOMEONE OTHER THAN PROTAGONISTA" is on the same line with Kidnapping and Dramatic Moment Enhanced by Thunderstorm. Up/down and diagonal chances aren't any better.

I'm still wanting to pair up Julio and Cirila. They're both kind of airheads. I think they'd have a good time.

Nina, in answer to your question from earlier in the week, the "woman in blue" in the closing credits is Lucia, Al & Santi's dead Mom. She didn't last very many episodes, so you may have missed her.

Anita - who was poisoned? Senior moment here.. 😳

The poor girl who was the bait for Lic. Preciado. She died of the drops Rog put in her champagne.

Heloooooo Patio. Almost didn't watch this today. SO ANNOYED by the derailed wedding and the super-duper cruel lie that Mariela told to Alonso. I'm sorry, but there's so much pain in the world, I hate even fictional versions of people inflicting pain on one another. If there were any other way to work on Spanish (other than STUDYING, UGH!) I'd skip these stories all together, but this works so nicely. In spite of my tantrums.

Funny experience today. Babysat 9 month old grandson but then when parents arrived home, daughter wanted me to stay because they were interviewing a Spanish-speaking cleaning lady. She arrived with her daughter, who acted as translator, so they wouldn't have needed me anyway. But as she spoke to her mother, I finally said "This doesn't sound like Spanish. More like Portuguese."

Sure enough they were from Brazil.

Anyway, the friend of theirs she cleans for, assumed her language was Spanish! Here in Columbus, we're not very sophisticated, language-wise. And maybe I wouldn't have known, but I spent a month in Brazil, at Carnaval time, with a friend eons ago, so it all came back to me.

JudyB, who does her own cleaning and sometimes cusses in Spanish

Thank you, Anita. That was such a non-event I had already forgotten how she died. We usually see the vic foaming at the mouth or similar telenovela drama. We never even saw her face, bless her heart.

JudyB -good ear! Brazilian Portuguese sounds (to my ears) like a hybrid of French and Spanish. We had a Brazilian foreign exchange student live With us twenty years ago. Once a week he called a friend of his who was also exchanging here in the U.S. that same year, and it was fun to hear the language.

Judy--The same thing happened to me recently. My friend and I were dining out, served by a really nice waiter. I thought his accent was Spanish (at least in my sophisticated language sniffer nose, was NOT French, German or anything Slavic or Scandinavian). My friend, who is not at all adept at foreign languages, said she thought he was Portuguese. Sure enough he was from Portugal!

Thanks, Anita.

Of course Mariela had to tell Father Dan. What part of “do not dare tell anybody” did she not get? Oh well, I guess we need it to push the action ahead.

I never expected “Why did the chicken cross the road joke.” That was funny.

Anita: They poisoned the wrong person. ?

It always strikes me as so silly when Father Danny says- “My brother is going to hear from me!” I mean really, Danny. When was the last time your brother ever paid any attention to you ....or anyone else for that matter? He could accomplish something big i suppose if he left the priesthood but that isn’t ever going to happen, so are we going to just wait till Preciado’s Catholic guilt gets the better of him and he goes to confession and then Father Danny puts 2 and 2 together....or the lady friend of Rogelio who gave the poor girl the Poisoned drink starts going mad from guilt and spills beans to someone. I dont know if I can wait it out!
I had high hopes for Julio and Florencia. They are a perfect pair, living in the clouds and both are so cute looking.
Elena sure seemed like another personality walking into Eduardo’s office. Wish she could use some of that anger for Rogelio,

Can someone remind me what was in the safe that Rogelio wanted so badly?

Anita thanks for the recap of the continuation of the up ended wedding. She told carman she'd tell him something he'd believe and he did.Now what he needs to do is suck it up and find out what really happened.

Now that Mari tossed her cookies to Fr Dan, I hope nobody Trys to send the Padre to heaven(dem-wit & rog)to keep Their nasty little plans from falling apart fast. I do Not want to see the usual tn "shes pregnant and he thinks the baby Is not his and he finds out after he has Married nasty girl" scenario. Classic soap opera/tn stuff.

Ok Anita lovely week, thanks to all the recappers this week. Now that it's kinda hit the bottom maybe it'll start
Upwards for the good guys. Happy week end yall.

Amotelenovelas - the gun that was given to the police this week, to implicate Leo in the murder of Lucia , was in that safe. It is the same gun that Demian used to accidentally shoot and kill Lucia.

Steve B - they accidentally overdosed the woman, and did not intend to kill her.

Doris--I think Rogelio intended to kill her, though he told the madam and Dem they were just going to overdose her. If she had recovered, the blackmail wouldn't have worked. Even if she had recovered later, she wouldn't have been dead-dead in the scene.

We never see Preciado checking the body, but Rog couldn't take the risk ahead of time. The girl would have been a live risk later--talking about the incident to her other "massage therapists." The madam herself would have been a loose cannon. With the girl dead, she would have to keep her mouth closed to protect herself. OK, sorry, I'm overthinking this.

Nina--I think we're in for more heartache and gnashing of teeth. Despite my affinity for Diego Olivera, the whole thing works better when he's not agonizing in front of the camera.

Thanks Anita. I totally thought it was an accident. My telenovela beanie hat is too tight. LOL

It sure would prove interesting if Renata turned up pregnant. Think of the sweating some of the male characters would be doing.

BODAS INTERRUPTI--For Your Sunday TN doldrums--

El Talisman – The supposed dead wife shows up between the religious and the civil wedding of Pedro (Rafael Novoa)* and Camila (Blanca Soto), so they are only half married. *He never signed on to another Venevision production after that disaster.

Montecristo – Laura (Silvia Navarro) is kidnapped minutes before she is to walk down the beach to her waiting groom, Santiago (Diego Olivera). Funny, I can't remember where and when they do get married and live happily ever after.

LQNPA—Even though they’ve been legally married since almost the beginning of the tn, Rogelio (Jorge Salinas) puts the kabash on the church wedding, then Ana Paula (A.B. Contreras) walked out on the other one, until they finally got the third one right, at the very end.

ENDA—Does it count if the bridegroom gets shot, but another one takes his place?

CME- Renata & Jeronimo’s first one almost got interrupted by Jero’s previous finacée, so it doesn’t count. Regina & Gonzalo’s didn’t come off because they were assaulted by Fina/Pepa and they nearly died, but they aren't the main couple.

Amor Bravio – Camila (Silvia Navarro) and Luis (Valentino Lanus) wedding didn't take place because he was killed in an auto accident while Camila was driving. LuzMa & Pablo's wedding never took place because she was grabbed and raped by Tio Leoncio on their supposed wedding day. Pablo was left at the altar. Camila and Daniel (Cristian de la Fuente) got married, but then his dead wife shows up with their baby, so he’s a bigamist. It all works out in the end.

STuD - In the beginning, Valentina (Lucero) was left at the altar by Alonso (David Zepeda), while he takes off in a plane, also leaving his lover behind. Valentina & José Miguel’s (FC) wedding was almost interrupted by Rosendo (Sergio Goyri), but they finished the ceremony.

Triumfo de Amor – Alonso (Mark Tacher) walks away, leaving Maria at the altar

Un Refugio Para el Amor - Rodrigo Torreslanda Fuentes Gil (Gabriel Soto, el galán) leaves his prometida, Gala Villavicencio (Jessica Coch, la antagonista) at the garden civil wedding waiting for him to say yes. She becomes his ex-fiancée, then his fiancée again, then his wife, then—can’t remember, but he remarries his talented pottery maker protagonista, Luciana Jacinto Flores (Zuria Vega).

Eva Luna – The day before the wedding, Leonardo (Julian Gil) manages to delude Eva(Blanca Soto) into thinking that Daniel (Guy Ecker) was the person who killed her father in a hit-and-run car accident at the beginning of the story. She flees leaving Daniel waiting in vain at the church.

Quien es Quien – Perico (Eugenio Siller, the barrio galán), stops the wedding (the first one) to Fernanda (Kimberly Dos Ramos), who was going to marry Leonardo in that wedding. It’s complicated, but at the end he gets to marry her, while his twin Leonardo (Eugenio Siller, from an upper class household), gets to marry Paloma (Danna Paola), Perico’s former barrio girlfriend.

Silvana Sin Lana – What can I say, Stella stopped her own wedding to Poncho then she stopped Genesis’ wedding to Poncho. Maria José left Andrés at the altar and sent Papito to explain why she tripped out on him.

Now we can add Alonso and Mariela.

There are sure to be many more. The Patio is invited to add them.

Add to Anita's list --- Papá a Toda Madre. Mai's wedding to the daughter of some wealthy guy (a/k/a Mau's financial bailout plan) is interrupted by Anifer crashing the wedding.

Also --- Las Tontas No Van al Cielo --- someone mentioned this earlier. Jacqueline Bracamontes character runs away on the beach(?) in her wedding dress, shedding layers as she goes, IIRC.

Abi’s o de Pasion...heroine about to marry galanB, galan A rides in on horse, kidnaps girl, goes to secluded beach hot, happily deflowers her, kills the mood by thinking galan B may have nailed her first. Big long break up. But they’re together in the end.

That was me, JudyB on iPad.

I am soooo amazed and of course impressed by the memory of you guys who remember these past TNs. I always think I will not forget but I almost always do about 6 months to a year later---even though I've been watching every night and loving it (and doing my usual SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF). So please tell me how it is that you remember ones from 1-2-3 years back. It's not just my aging memory: It was like this 15 years ago when I started watching them.

My secret is that I write it down.

Love it Anita! And I'm back now on computer and see all the typos I made in a hurry on the iPad. Oh well. Don't all telenovelas have bodus interruptus? Or at least Bliss Interruptus. Thinking about Lo Que La Vida Me Robó and its predecessor Amor Real where the revelation of another pretendiente led to a terrible aftermath. And a long, long, painful revovery.

So is there a big fat telenovela notebook on your bedside table Anita? Or do you keep track on a computer file?

Anita, doris, JudyB, this is fun. Derailed weddings:

El color de la pasión: There are three! Magdalena and Ricardo, Ricardo skips town after sleeping with Rebeca, Magdalena's sister and because of her threat.
Lucía and Rodrigo, Rodrigo saying "no" to the question, after sleeping with Nora, Lucía's sister and because of her threat.
Lucía and Marcelo - Lucía not coming, because of a threat from Nora.

A que no me dejas: Paulina and Adrián, Paulina saying she is in love with Camilo, because of a threat of Julieta

La mujer del Vendaval: Marsela and some patán, he ran away with another, older women for her money.

Enamorándome de Ramon: Fabiola and Ramón, Ramon did not show up because he was kidnapped, but it appeared that he ran away with another.

La tempestad: Marina and Damian, when supposedly dead Damian's ex wife, Estersita, shows up to interrupt it.

Excellent weekend discussion topic. You guys rock.

Waaaaaiiiiitrrr a minute. I said it was Las Tontas but maybe it was Sortilegio, where Jacqueline Bracamontes ran away from her wedding at the very start? Help me out, please, patio mates. Does anyone recall which one it was?

It was Tontas Doris. Don’t doubt yourself. JudyB on iPad

Doris--it wasn't Sortilegio. In that one Maria Jose married Bruno under the misinformation (on purpose) that he was Alex. Then Alex "died." When he came back to the Manse and his "widow," the fun and games start with Bruno.

NOTE: I have an appointment this morning, so the recapote will be later this afternoon. Sorry to keep you waiting.

We have a lot of derailed weddings in the additions. We lumped them together with bodi interrupti. I'll have to sort them out. It'll be hard since I didn't watch a lot of these additions.

In Amor Real, Manuel and Matilde actually married, but the aftermath was tough.

Yes, it was Las Tontas, because after Jacqueline B. strips down to her luxury lingerie, she keeps going and ends up at her uncle's house in another city.

Thanks, Anita, and patio members for putting this together!
