Por Amar Sin Ley, 7/4/18 Chapter 90: A Game of Musical Suspects

BUFETE VEGA:

Alonso drops in on Leo, Rob, and Juan, who are gearing up for an all-night strategy session on the Linares trial. Each presents his prime suspect: for Leo, it’s Alan, because of his resentment of Carlos; for Rob, it’s Creepy Pedro, for finding out about her night job, with the probable assistance of Tatiana, who was jealous of her big tips; for Juan, it’s Carlos, because Sonia’s been after him forever, and where there’s smoke there’s fire. (Seriously, Juan? Didn’t you used to be a DEFENSE attorney?) Al advises them to come up with a coordinated approach and pointedly reminds Juan that Carlos is their CLIENT. At this point my curiosity about who did the murder has been completely supplanted by my curiosity about who needed the gluten-free vegan pizza.

RECLUSORIO & VICINITY

Alan pulls Creepy Pedro’s lawyer aside for some whisper-whisper. The next thing we know, said lawyer is advising Pedro that he needs to play it super-emotional at the trial. We know this is bad advice but can’t help wondering how far things might go when someone is actually being ENCOURAGED to jump across the table.

EN EL JUZGADO:

The highlights of Carlos’s trial are definitely the lurid scenarios the Vega lawyers present to cast suspicion on everyone else. These are enacted in soft-focus flashbacks with lots of (which is to say, very little) lingerie. In the first alternate history, Patricia taunts Tatiana that she can’t get good clients with Mom-booty, and Tatiana smothers her in a rage after an overlong struggle that looks like jello-wrestling in skimpies. In the second, Carlos does the deed after Pat threatens to tell Ale that they’ve been seeing each other throughout the whole engagement. For Pedro, it’s a pretty standard yikes-my-fiancee-is-a-hooker meltdown, but he adds value in real time with wails, sobs, shouts and even a lunge at Carlos behind the bars.

After a brief recess, la juez gives the requisite PSA about violence against women and orders Pedro to take Carlos’s place in the pokey. Pedro is incredulous, while Alan gives his lawyer a significant side-eye.

Carlos briefly grasps reality and tells Ale that her doubts about him have made him understand there is nothing left between them. Then he thanks all his lawyers, even singling out Juan to tell him he has a bright future.

Juan stays behind to look for a missing notebook and is buttonholed by an amorous Tatiana, who plants a juicy one on him and promises to thank him more, ah, deeply in the future. She’ll be in touch (literally.) Bet she still has that Patricia-wrestling outfit.

ELSEWHERE:

·          Ric, Elena and the kids set off to take care of the adoption process. Happy skippy family, tra-la.

        * Olivia pirouettes around the office strewing pretty goodbyes. She makes peace with Lety, makes Victoria cry, and makes sure everyone knows her first priority is getting a bun in the oven, y pronto.

·         * Carlos drops Ale off at home and tells her he is still willing to do anything to regain her love.  Huh? Where have they been? The brain-wash?

·        Alan sends the crooked lawyer off with a bag o’ cash, then sits back with his whiskey and revisits the real murder scene, in which he dispassionately dispatches the poor girl while she’s asleep. Could he maybe get accidentally shot by Jacinto’s men? Pretty please?

AVANCES: Snipers at the wedding! Guau!

Comments:
Great job, Blue Lass. It was a big surprise to me that this was wrapped up. I thought it was going to carry into next season, although... it sort of does because there could always be evidence to come that Alan did the crime, as we all originally suspected.

For Pedro this would have been a crime passionel and therefore 2nd degree while for Alan it's premeditated and therefore 1st degree. Carlos will go through Season 2 not knowing that Alan committed that crime. If it is later revealed that he did, Carlos may realize then that he isn't as smart as he thinks he is.

I still don't want him to get Alejandra no matter what happens with her and Ricardo.

Thanks, Blue Lass. My faves:

a pretty standard yikes-my-fiancée-is-a-hooker meltdown

Happy skippy family, tra-la

I too am surprised Carlos’s trial is over two days before the grand finale. The actress playing Patricia sure got a workout wrestling near nekkid with Tatiana, then Carlos, then Pedro in the lawyers’ scenarios. That coward Alan doesn’t even wrestle her but waits until she’s asleep. If Alan’s motive was to sink Carlos, I guess he’ll try again in part 2.

Carlos finds redemption and enthusiastically shakes Juan’s hand. If it wasn’t for the money laundering, no guilt about boinking another (just feeling stupid about getting caught), and general all around stalking Ale, I’d give him a pass. Almost forgot, he hates Ric and will play dirty to compete with him.

I wish the writers had shown more of Alan’s actions in flashback because he certainly also made sure the police wasted no time finding out Patricia was dead and that Carlos was at the church. Lots of beanie moments in this TN, and one of the biggest for me is why Carlos never did any investigating on his own case.

Poor Alonso lost Benji (who did bring in the profits) and is losing Leo, Oli and Leticia and maybe Gustavo too.

Thanks Blue Lass for the recap of this episode.

The "trial" was pathetic even by TN standards. And the judge, well surely she was paid off with part of the loot possibly to purchase a new Ouija board for her decision making.

Only 2 more episodes. I pray that the cost cutting 'Director' of all TN's over which she has financial control will mercifully decide to cut season 2.

At this point my curiosity about who did the murder has been completely supplanted by my curiosity about who needed the gluten-free vegan pizza.

My thought exactly. Who's the neurotic eater in the firm. Lots of possibilities.

Oh boy, another soft porn scene. Maybe wouldn't object if it was Fernando Colunga in the shower, but these two gals. Uuuuf. Tough way to make a living.

* Ric, Elena and the kids set off to take care of the adoption process. Happy skippy family, tra-la.

Oh Lord I'm sick of these people. I think I actually want Ale with Carlos because the baggage of these kids and Elena would ruin even a top-notch prospect. And Ric the Brick isn't looking top-notch.

* Olivia pirouettes around the office strewing pretty goodbyes

Love the way you turn a phrase m'dear. Always a thorn amongst the roses. LOL

Anyway, great recap. You always deliver.

Blue Lass you really know how to wrap
It up and place a pretty bow on top.

So....olivia and Leonardo are off to
New York after the wedding. We'll see.

Alan the slim mooch killed the hooker.
And is feeling good about having goten
Away with it. Maybe he will catch a
Bullet. I don't believe pedro did it.
But they don't care what I believe, so an Innocent man goes to prison. Thats
Nothing new on this discombobulated lawyer train wreck of a show.

I'm not sure if I want to see a season 2. But if they must make one maybe and
Its a big maybe I'll watch. And that's
Only if there's nothing better on.

Carlos is Givin up way to easy. He's
Got an evil plan.

Juan needs a good shaking. Silly boy.
He need to turn his moma loose on
tat-tat.

Thank you BlueLass.

Thank you BlueLass. Dish and Univision are still fighting it out so I cannot watch the finale.

Is Carlos really finally giving up on Alejandra? When she turned on him as he was held in the prison cell on Tuesday, I actually thought Alejandra was so wimpy she couldn't even officially tell him she's not into him and doesn't want his attention anymore. She actually had to resort to upsetting/disappointing him to get him to make the decision to cut her out of his life.

Hi Blue y mis otros amigos.
Nice recap. So funny about the vegan pizza and Oli pirouetting.
Has the show always been awful, but I was in denial?
Is there anything good coming down the pike?

R la O

Rosemary, it's been pretty bad since about...I don't know, the second week. Why don't you join us over on the CQM deck? We start kind of early in the day, but we mix them weak.
