Corazón Que Miente, Week 12 (8/20/18) – Monday Kickoff: Padre, Oh, Padre, Where Can You Be?

Episode #55
*Nocollar Padre, Dem and Rog continue their “meeting” where it left off on Friday. Rog seems sincere in his confession. The Pa says the conversation is not covered by the confessional so he’s going to runteldat to the popo. Rog starts streaming all, beginning with the shooting of Lucia. The Pa listens carefully, not seeing that Dem is seething. He declares that not a word is true. Dem grabs his bro from behind and starts to choke him. It seems that Rog is trying to stop Dem. The Pa slumps to the floor. Mozart calls him home. Dem is crying over Pa’s lifeless body and blames Rog for having made him do it. (OK, now we understand Rog’s motive.)

*Mari, Liso and Cris have lunch. Mari gets a call from Leo. He’s jealous she’s not spending time with him. He accuses her of being with Al of the Ferrer’s. She’ll come home if he wants her to, but she had been planning to spend the rest of the day with Liso and Cris. He relents. She invites him to join them. He declines.

*Ren meets Al for lunch. She’s late because she had some last minute "business" with Fab. Al wonders about their relationship and begins to muse about her father. He only remembers meeting him once when he was still a child.

*Leo is waiting up for Mari to get home that night. Carmen chides him. It sounds like he’s jealous. Could he be afraid that she and Al will get back together? He claims that’s not it. He’s simply worried about her. She sends him to bed, warning him about his possessiveness.

*Rog and Dem drag Pa to his final resting place and dump him where anyone can find him. Rog is going to deliver the coup de grâce with a bullet to the head, but Dem stops him. He’s sure he’s already deader than a dead doornail.

*Next day, Chino, the replacement sacristan and his mother have brought breakfast to The Pa, but he’s not in and his bed is made. Chino digs in to the breakfast burrito meant for Dan.

*Dem is still in bed. He doesn’t feel well and tells Rafie he’s skipping work today.

*Leo brings breakfast in bed to Mari. He forces juice on her first thing, as he asks to be forgiven for being a jerk the day before. Suddenly Mari remembers this is Santi’s liberation day and flees for the clinic, leaving breakfast uneaten and Leo heartbroken.

*Liso and Al are having breakfast together. Liso warns him about mixing pleasure with Ren with business with Ren. He urges Al to take it slow. Mari is still a fresh wound. Al is offended. He’s the one who had to chase Ren. She was there for him and is the best thing to come along recently. He warns Liso that if he can’t say anything positive, not to say anything about the future love of his life.

*Ren talks to Fab and tells him about Antonio and the fresh new capital. He definitely wants information on him so they can add him to the list of patsies.

*Leo is off to an exhibition in the park. Denise declines the offer to go with him. She’s in a hurry. She has a date with Ant.

*At the office, Al starts to tell Ren what Liso said, then he does. Ren gets really mad because Liso and Mari are friends and she probably put him up to it and gives Al a hard time.

*Rafie is dictating something about the board meeting to Marcia. Mar noticed Dem’s absence and also wonders how the employees are going to react to Rog. Rafie dismisses her saying it’s none of her business.

*Ant and Deni wait for Mari to show up. Deni thinks he’s interested in Mari, but not just as her doctor. He sort of convinces her that he admires her as a person. Meanwhile, Mari has picked up Leo and they arrive together. Deni is very uncomfortable. Ant, seated directly across from Mari, looks at her adoringly. Ant proposes a toast to Mariela….and of course, Leo. Mari is a bit embarrassed because she tells him she normally does not form personal relations with patients, but it’s ok. He tells her it’s because his heart is grateful. They all join in, not knowing the double entendre of his words. Denise snuggles up to Ant, after making sure Leo hears her say she hopes Leo will appreciate Mari. Leo leaves.

*Cefiro reminds Julio they need to get in touch with The Pa so they can get to the police station. Chino calls and tells him they can’t find The Pa. Julio promises to call if he hears anything. Julio calls Leo about the missing Dan. Leo will check into it.

*Ren barges in Mari’s clinic office and throws something in her face. She tells Mari not to mess with what is hers. Mari pushes Ren out and security removes her after she shouts some additional threats. Mari tells Lety why Ren attacked her—that she put Liso up to warning Al about Ren because Santi asked her to and Al probably told her.

*The park trash collector finds The Pa’s body, all neatly wrapped and sealed with duct tape. Lordy, lordy. Hey Mozart, change your tune, he’s alive.

*Preciado calls Madam Marta to tell her that Doreta’s mother, Olga, has come to Puebla looking for her daughter and has filed a missing person report. He’s forced to open an investigation so it all looks on the up and up, but he promises to protect her. Nevertheless, Marta is nervous.

*Rafie comes to see Al, who is in a bad mood now and no, he asserts he and Ren did not have a fight. Rafie is inquiring about Dem and why he stayed home. Al says it’s possible to be a little sick with all that is going on with Quadrum.

*Santi is released from the flat-on-his-back hospital bed to sitting up in his motorized wheelchair. Sara is signing him out. Before a confrontation between her and Mari can escalate over who will continue his rehab, UndeadDan is brought in on a stretcher. He’s in shock. Mari takes over.

*Sanabria is back to talk to Marta. There’s nothing more she can tell him. Is she sure? She gets a bit testy. Sanabria says they will need to go over her establishment, but he’ll be back when he has a warrant. She promises to be cooperative.

*Lots of communication is going on over the NewlyliveDan. Dem says he’ll be right there. Rog finds out from Elena that his plan to extinguish Fr. Dan wasn’t permanent.

*Ant and Deni look at some paintings he bought. He asks her out to dinner. No, not a foursome, not a threesome, just a twosome. Leo calls Deni about Fr. Dan. Does she want him to pick her up and go to the clinic together? She turns him down to go to dinner with Ant. (At least SHE has her priorities straight.)

*Cefiro tells Olga she doesn’t need to stay in Puebla while the investigation is going on. She’s determined to stay until they find Doreta. He offers her a spare room in his house. Julio arrives to tell them about The Pa.

*Leo arrives at the hospital. Mari finds him and in full view she kisses him lightly. All the onlookers see this but it’s obvio that Al takes it the worst.

*Rog comes to see Ed at his new abode. Rog looks around, asks if his girlfriend is here and whops him. He tells Ed hands off, that Ed’s girlfriend is now his former girlfriend because she’s Rog’s now.

*As Ant and Deni are finishing dinner, he presents her with a thank-you gift of a lovely, very simple necklace. She sort of protests it’s too expensive a gift for what she’s done for him. He tells her he’s so happy she’s in his life. Aww.

*Our favorite doctor has come to tell the assembled group about HalfaliveDan. There were signs of strangulation and it’s a miracle he lasted this long. However, the damage may be fatal. He’s in a coma on a respirator, but the prognosis is not good. He will probably die in the next few hours. Oy Vey.

Anita - thank you for your recap and putting it up so quickly!

Oy vey, indeed, Anita!!! Thank heavens UnPadre Dan is UnDead! Rog was so Unemotional at the strangulation while Dem was Undone. I was reeeally UnHappy that the UnPadre was UnAlive and worried he would be UnFound. Will Dem or Rog UnPlug his respirator while in the hospital? (yikes!) or will HalfAliveDan be Rog & Dem's Undoing? . . . UnTil tomorrow . . . must see TV!!!

I had to re-wind and see the strangle scene again, and Rog was actually pulling away Fr Dan's hands, stopping Dan from stopping Dem.

Marci seems too smug for her own good around Rafi. #watchyourback

The Ren scene at Mari's office just goes to prove Ren is low-class trash.

High "ick" factor re: Leo pawing all over Mari at the lunch with Ant & Deni. Because, really? You were sleeping with Deni just weeks ago, Leo. Groooooooss!

And I'm royally ticked off at Mari for actually "falling" for Leo because, really? How is this possible if she was sooo in love with Al?

Thanks, Anita! Very thorough and well described. It was a hard episode to watch, so I really appreciate your thoughtful journalistic coverage.

Doris, did you hear Mariela say to the security officer, "Throw this trash out of here!"? That was pretty saucy even for her.

Now remember, these aren't real people, so I'm not being callous when I say "DOCTOR TELLS FAMILY PATIENT COULD DIE" gives me Four Corners (in addition to double bingo.) WOOT!

I'm actually only four squares away from Blackout, but I don't think there's much chance of "FAKE PREGNANCY" when we have at least two opportunities for REAL pregnancy in the hopper. But any bingo card this full signifies some heavy-duty melodrama!

Blue Lass - I completely forgot to consult my two Bingo sheets! I crossed off "Doctor tells family patient could die" now, too. Also checked off "Galan is intimate with someone other than protagonista" since it's pretty obvious Al & Ren have knocked boots.

I'll re-wind and see what Mari said when security came for Ren. My CCs go in and out, at will, and I may not have re-wound that one for clarification. Will do, now that I've learned to keep the darned episode and not delete right away.

. . . till worrying about UnPadre Dan's UnGuarded hospital room . . . it's all so UnPleasant. ;-P

Blue Lass - yes, Mari did say “get this trash out of here!”

Anita, I had a phone call while this was on so I needed your recap to fill in what I missed with the sound turned down. Thanks!

Yay! For Denise and Antonio.

Why did not Ed punch Rogelio in his scars? He just took it like a wimp.

Doris--You certainly were not being UnGenerous with your UnDying devotion to all the UnTruths engendered in this episode. It was not UnAppreciated.

I'll have to rewatch, too. I wasn't watching closely when Rog was reaching across the table to grab hands. I assumed they were Dem's, but he wasn't trying too hard.

Also, Al included Dem's personal problems--Santi, and not just Quadrum when trying to explain to Rafie Dem's current state of health. There were other minor things that weren't communicated properly (like the talking to Liso gave Al and his answer and Ant's toast to Mari and Leo), but as I've said before, it doesn't change the big picture.

I felt kind of sorry for Al watching that little PDA between Leo and Mari. It's obvious he still pines for her but doesn't know what to do about it, short of doing a Dem/Rog on Leo.

Anita, I would be fine with Al doing a Dem/Rog on Leo.

Y Mañana Será Otro Día looks worth watching. At least Diego doesn't have that sad-sack hairstyle. Hopefully Looneyvision will show it.

Waiting patiently here on the Patio of Lowered Expectations for Dan to bounce back. At least Dem had the grace to be horrified at what he did to Dan, then he ruins it by blaming it on Rog. Ugh . . .

Ugh...what a nauseating capitulo. But great recap Anita. Thank you.

I did enjoy Demian's horror at strangling his own brother, plus the prospect of Rafaela being the full-time girlfriend of the Hideous Rogelio, but otherwise agree with Blue Lass that Leo's tasteless PDA's with Mariela (showing up at the lunch uninvited was bad enough) and in front of the long-suffering Denise was just beyond the pale. And agree that Mariela has moved on disconcertingly rapidly as well. Hate how this is written.

Have been binge watching old Amor Real episodes and there is a telenovela worth savoring. This one is lightweight and yuckky in comparison.

Well enough of this crankypants talk.

I did enjoy when they showed those scenes of Denise and Antonio at that paticular restaurant set because that was where Lety and Fernando? met for dinner in La Fea Mas Bella. Good memories of that one too.

Thanks as always Anita. Although I'm trashing this at the moment, it's far preferable to what's on at night.

JudyB--What a coincidence. I just rewatched the DVD of Amor Real over the weekend. It's horribly chopped up, but it hit all the highlights (except for Manuel and Matilde's make-up sex in the convent--for that I turned to YouTube). Bravo for you for watching the unedited version. I'm yearning to watch Alborada next, but I may do La Usurpadora, which I've never seen.

Sadly we have too many bad guys who want Fr. Dandy Dead and not enough good guys who are in the know and can protect him. It's so easy to just walk in and out of intensive care units and kill patients without anyone responding to their flatlining. Oh, that's right, we're all in this tn together. All we can do his hold our collective breaths and keep our fingers crossed. Until manana, chau.

Anita, I have watched the DVD 5- or 6-hr version of La Usurpadora. I won't government you any spoilers but will say that around halfway thru, it became very boring.

I loved Amor Real, including the theme song (by Sin Bandera) for the opening. I loved Mauricio Islas as Adolfo Solis. I'm hearing that song in my head right now. :-). 😊 And the clothes! There is no way a 2-disc DVD can do justice to it.

Anita thanks for the guick recap.

When the garbage guy turned the padre over he didnt look dead to me. Happy
About that. But as usaul in tn/soap fashion the dreaded COMA))))))))). And
How long? Hopefully he may come out of it before labor day. But she said he'd
Be dead in a few hours. What does she know? she's just a tn doctor. Ha!

Demwit stays in bed cuz he don't feel
Well, that tends to happen when you murder your brother dem-wit. Hope rog
Don't get the idea to help the padre cross over the great river Jordan. Im
Not inclinded to think Dan the man will Cross over the Jordan. Rob will most likely probably cross over before dan,And then drop to the lower depths of Hell. Just sayin. Lol. They better
Not kill the padre off, he got To much
Imfo to blast his bro demwit and rog to kingdom Come.

Sometimes I could just slap al into next week. "I had to chase ren", yeah U Chased her til she caughtcha.

There's a few things that will ruin a
Relationship..jealousy and clinginess.
Leo. I think he knows his time with Mari is limited. There's no Chemistry
What so ever with these 2.

So the mousey little bitch throws h2o
In Mari's face. Well it looked like water, which is probably what it was.
She don't want her scam ruined before she Cleans everybodys bank accounts out. The little snot.
I enjoyed Mari pushin her out of the office. She knew that would happen when she told liso to warn al about the little snake. Is al really that dense? Dont he feel somethings not right anout that moeny deal?No member?
Who his daddy is? Demwit.

Thanks Anita.

When that guard was carrying ren out she kinda had a smile on her face. At least it looked like a smile, like she
Was Havin fun with that part.

We should all say a little prayer to la Virgin de Guadalupe tonight that she brings back poor Danny to a communicative state. I dont want to see him laying in bed comatose or even conscious, with his eyes open bit unable to talk for a few weeks! That was so very clever of Rogelioto spit it out with both of them there, knowing full well Damian would try to shut his brother up at all costs. You have to hand it to the writers on that one!
I too LOOOOOVED Mari calling her BASURA as she kicked her out. The unfortunate part is that Renata didn’t give a sh-t and knows full well shes not going to tell Alonso.

Please, Doris, Anita and whoever else sees that Mañana Será Otro Día has started, please post it here! That is worth a try.

I, too, adored Amor Real. We.dont get beautifully portrayed historical 19th century stories like that anymore. That was unforgettable.

Doris, far be it from me to begrudge anyone their bingo squares -- there's plenty to go around! -- but I don't think Al & Ren have done the deed. When he tried to convince her to spend the night with him after the run-in at TORIP, she gave a very pretty speech about how she's not a chica for one night, she's a chica for life.

Of course we all know she's a chica for a coffee break (or possibly a baseball rain delay), but that remains to be revealed.

Amot--Think about it....of course PaPaDan won't be able to talk. That's why he was strangled and his windpipe damaged and not beaten to death, or worse. But, unless they do something to his hands, he can still write or blink his eyes. We'll see which one the writers choose--unless they keep him in a coma so the miscreants can wreak more chaos and intrigue for at least 20 more episodes. Sigh. I sure will miss PaPaDan even if his body is still with us.

Blue Lass--You missed the episode where they did it on his lap in his office at night and then "regretted" it. But she made sure he understood that now she was his forever. She still reminds him of it from time to time.

QUE QUE QUE??? I have to stop fast-forwarding through the people I don't like.

Sorry, Doris!

BL--We know they did it because she was wearing his shirt and he was shirtless, even though they were in the same position as at the beginning of the scene.

Ah. So when she said, "I'm not a chica for one night," she had a particular night in mind.

I think she said that in Bahia, and turned him down. The scene where she does the deed is in Epi #52, Pt. 3 Tue, Aug 14 (if you must).

Episode #56 – Tuesday: Padre Dan isn’t worried; El Jefe is on his side- Pt.1
A few scenes are omitted because they are unimportant to advancing the story.

*Antonio works hard to convince Denise to accept the necklace. (I think romance is in the air.) Does she keep the necklace? Ant approaches for a kiss. Then Deni goes in for more. She says she never expected to feel this way. Neither did he. He mentions that he has to fulfill a promise to find someone. Deni thinks it means for her to back off, but he insists he wants her at his side, every day, if possible.

*Doc repeats the bad news about The Pa. Only a miracle will save him. Everybody is stunned. Some cry, even Dem. He wonders why, why, his brother. Leo stares at him. Al tries to comfort Dem. Dem wonders out loud who could have done such a terrible thing. Both Al and Santi stare at Mari (or Leo). Leo says out loud that whoever did it will pay, as he continues to stare at Dem. Sara is certain it was done for revenge. Cris and Liso have a chance to talk. Cris tells Liso and Mari that The Pa probably won’t make it. Minor characters are also distraught.

*Sanabria reports to Preciado that he returned from Barbazúl empty handed regarding the disappearance of the girl.

*Liso reports to Mari how the talk went (or didn’t go) with Al. Mari tells him Al must have told Ren because she came after Mari, tossing a glass of water in her face. Liso is convinced that their “unnamed co-conspiritor” is the one who either strangled or had The Pa strangled. He also tells her about the disappearance of the girl from Barbazúl.

*Santi gets a bed for the night in the hospital to stay near his tío. [Why haven’t we seen Amalita, Noé and Carmen at the hospital. Did I miss them in the crowd?]

*Cefiro “checks in” on Dem on the front steps of the clinic. Dem reminds him of what happened to him the last time Cefiro tried to mess with him…and by the way, how are his daughters? Al intervenes at the last minute in time to hear Cefiro say he’ll make Dem pay for all his crimes. Al wants to know what Cefiro was talking about. Dem tells Al he’s just an angry old drunk and to foggedaboutit.

*Rafie gets a call from Ed. He tells her about Rog’s visit. He says he can’t do anything more against Rog. He tried. He suggests she leave town for awhile or get a bodyguard. She scoffs at both his suggestions.

*Mari gets Leo by himself in the clinic hallway. She tells him to dial back the accusations. It doesn’t help. She promises to keep him informed and he goes home.

*Al insists on a thorough investigation. Dem thinks it was a simple assault. Leo, walking out, sees Al. They trade words but not fisticuffs. Al insults him saying Leo and Mari belong together—two of a kind. Leo calls back that he promises to get everything back he and his father stole from Mari.

*Next day Doc announces The Pa is still in a coma, alive, but probably brain dead.

*As Leo and Cirila wonder where Deni is, here she comes, dressed in her yesterday’s yellow zip dress. NECKLACE ALERT: She’s wearing it. She announces that, on second thought, she’ll tell where she was last night. She spent the night with Ant in his depa. So, they are now XXX? Deni answers in the affirmative. They are officially together. They don’t know how it happened, but they both needed it.

Episode #56 – Tuesday- Pt.2
*The police are on the trail (of nothing, so far). Sanabria tells Preciado how The Pa was found by a trash collector and how this and other things come back to point to Dem’s involvement. Raro, no? Preciado doesn’t completely discount the coincidences but insists that Sanabria bring anything he finds straight to him.

*Mari returns home in some ghastly red and black harlequin outfit. She gets an update on Deni from Carmen. Leo has gone for a walk and replays the last good time he had with DanDan playing pool.

*Santi reminds the Quadrum folks of the important board meeting to vote on Antonio’s offer. Dem would like to put it off, but Santi says some of these folks came from some distance to attend. He volunteers to stay behind at the clinic.

*Fab gets a call from Joe. He wants his $$$$. Fab needs a little more time to close a deal. Joe wants his money with interest. Fab says that’s not what the bargain included. Joe says too bad. Fab comes through or he shows up to spill the beans on who Fab really is.

*Al is getting ready for the meeting, extremely sad, when Ren comes in to comfort him. He snivels over The Pa when Ren’s phone rings. It’s Fab. He tells her Joe wants his money. She tells Al it is a girlfriend from Puerto Vallarta who is here and wants to meet her for coffee. Al convinces her to go.

*Cefiro, Liso and Mari discuss Dem’s probable involvement but how neatly he covers his tracks. Liso has an idea—to use his father, who is also mixed up in all this. He thinks Ed would help because of Flo, but then he suggests deceiving Ed into thinking they have Vallarin hidden and ready to testify against Ed in the false testimony fraud. Maybe he’d be willing to turn the tables on Dem to redeem himself.

*Sanabria works on a chart to show all the connections to the latest incident. Oddly it’s Preciado’s name which pops up at the bottom.

*Dem and Prec meet in a bar before the board meeting. Dem says he has no idea what happened to his brother the father. Prec is worried.

*Rafie has come to berate Ed in person. He’s nothing but a coward. He apologizes, but he hasn’t any suggestions other than what he told her on the phone. Doorbell rings...Ed lets Rog in...He wastes no time pulling a gun on Ed and grabbing at Rafie. He makes Ed leave and closes the door. He assaults and rapes Rafie while Ed has to listen to Rafie crying out. When he's done, Rog walks out and tips his invisible hat to Ed, who is cowering in the hall. He rushes to Rafie’s side. She’s partially undressed, messed up, shaken and lying on the floor. She yells at him not to touch her. She picks up some of her clothes but walks out on him in her bra and slip.

*Quadrum votes to accept Antonio and they have him come in to welcome him as the new (fresh bait) capitalist investor.

*Fab and Ren talk outside Ed’s offices. She’ll make sure there’s a transfer of money so he can pay Joe. They do a wet, lip synchronization sucking sound right on the sidewalk in plain view so someone will see them. Who will it be? Ah ha! It’s Cefiro and Mari—the only two no one will believe.

Thanks, Anita.

Yay! Antonio is in!

Yesterday, I thought Rogelio was down to scars. Today I realized he still is in stitches!
Ed is a wimp! He and Rafaela couldn't take Rogelio down gun or no gun aiming all damage to his stitched face? They have made Rogelio into an almost supernatural villain. This is the kind of thing that annoys me to no end in novelas: characters being accomplices in their own victimization.

Thanks, Anita! Favorite line: "Minor characters are also distraught." For some reason that just cracks me up.

Maybe Leo's fashion sense is wearing off on Mari. They'd better break up soon, or they'll both be showing up in blankets.

I loved Zanabria's chart. So tidy!

Thank you for your recap, Anita!

Well, Antonio sure got over grieving his dead wife pretty fast. We weren't even despuesed.

Deni sure had that "well-laid look" about her when she strolled home from Antonio's. Nope, no walk of shame for her! I noticed the necklace, too. I guess this means they're going steady? (lol) Leo looked jealous.

Sanabria's flow chart isn't exactly Kinsey Millhone's index card system, but it still does a good job of pointing to Preciado.

Blue Lass wrote --- Favorite line: "Minor characters are also distraught." For some reason that just cracks me up. . . .
and . . .
Maybe Leo's fashion sense is wearing off on Mari. They'd better break up soon, or they'll both be showing up in blankets. "

LOL! and my favorites, too!

Rog has had his way with Rafi once at the office, and she bounced back. He must have really brutally raped her this time, for her to be as badly shaken up as she was. I almost felt sorry for her. Then I remembered this is karmic justice for her part in the story.

I don't see Ed coming out of this telenovela alive. My CrockpotTheory™ is he'll either commit suicide (ooh, a Bingo square!) or get himself killed.

Mari seeing Ren & Fab kissing is one of those deer in the headlights moments when one does not think to pull out the phone and record. Argh!

Thanks for the speedy recap Anita. I'm amazed at the speed with which characters in these stories move on, however this happens in real life as well. A younger friend of mine had the discomfort of seeing her father start dating 6 weeks after her mother's death from cancer. And he married the "datee" within 6 months. Not much of a "después" there either.

I have always hated Rafaela but still, the horror of hearing her scream Eduardo's name left too much to the imagination. And of course all he did was cower in the hallway until Rogelio would let him back in the apartment. Really a low moment for both of them.

I'm in agreement with you about Mariela's horrid fashion choices lately and overall she's looking less attractive all the time. Perhaps change of clothing is as important as change of hairstyle in indicating interior changes in a person. At any rate, she sure is barking up the wrong romantic tree at the moment.

And perhaps Leo's eventual downfall (for being such a creep) is to find himself all alone. No Mariela, no Denise...although I think Cerilla is still available!

Thanks for keeping this going Anita and Blue Lass, so we can kvetch at our leisure.

Ha ha Judy, I think Cirila is WAY available. I hope we get to see her with a fellah before the end, even if it's just dancing at someone's wedding.

Thanks Anita.

The guy that's putting the puzzle together, I liked seeing that. Somebody is thinking that things aren't what they appear to be.

Demwit is a piece of horse crap."who could have done this my bro?" He's not
Only a fony, he's a funny fony. And Y
Was everybody lookin at Leo? Maybe he
Did it for revenge, they're thinkin? But no. Pa dan knows dem & rod's nasty
Secrets. A person sinks to new levels
When its decided it's a good idea to kill ones Brother to keep said secret.

Rape is never good, but some people drow Bad things to themselves when they choose to step into darkness. And theres all kinds of evil lurking in darkness, you never see it comin cuz you don't expect it to happen. Until it does. Maybe she'll have a change of heart, cuz baby this ain't worth it.

Why O why didnt mari make this a kodak
Moment? Cuz it was.
Anita your right, they let people see
Who no one will believe. But that will
Make the sting even worst when truth
Is exposed. Because they think this little snot is so much better for al
Than Mari. And I don't like the way granny treats Mari. Mari comes in a room and she walks out, like the air is
Contaminated. Wait until she finds out who really funks up the air. They need
To stop with the sad updates on padre
Until he wakes up, cuz those minor
Characters are who? I don't know these
People. Lol.

Thank you Anita.

I agree, Nina, we're going to see a lot of heartfelt apologies before this is over (and, I'm sure, a lot of graceful forgiveness.) But Dem and Rog are too far gone and cannot be forgiven.

Episode #57 – Wednesday: Surprises-Pt.1
*Oh, Rafie put her blouse back on before walking out on Ed after her attack by Rog.

*Repeat of Fab & Ren’s slobbering kiss and the cara de impactada de Mariela. Mari fishes for her iPhone, but it’s too late, the uncouple uncouples.

*After the successful board meeting, Ant invites everyone to dinner. They thank him but decline—due to The Pa’s delicate state of health. Dem later tells Rafie that Ant owns 30% of the shares in Quadrum.

*Cefiro and Mari have reached Ed’s office, but he’s not there. He didn't come in. Lucy promises to pass on their message to call them as they have some important information for him. (‘C’mon, what did they expect—they didn't call for an appointment, obvio.) The two expect to hear from him soon.

*Amalita, Noé and Lety FF>> Well, Noé lets on he knows things about Dem that would make your hair curl. Amalita seems to know about them, too.

*Rafie is reacting normally to a sexual assault. She’s curled up in bed shaking. Ren tries to comfort her. Rafie won’t tell her who did this to her; she’s too scared. Ren stays with her.

*Mari returns home, too tired to go out to eat with Leo. Leo says he’s happy for Deni and her new love. Mari is off to bed by herself. (We’re spared, so far, any bedroom scenes with the two of them.)

*The Ferrer clan returns home. Dem suspects something is wrong with Rafie. She attributes it to the flu—or something. Santi wants to visit The Pa, to most of their objections and he wants Lety to come visit, to Dem’s objections.

*Mari tells Carmen all about what she saw and shows her the photo she took. What should she do? Tell Al? (I guess so.)

*Rog returns to Quadrum. He’s probably applied make-up since his stitches don’t stand out. Still, everyone stares at him as he passes through the lobby. He makes his way to Dem’s office, ready to go back to work. He’s angry that The Pa is still alive and urges Dem to let him finish the job. That gets Dan out of their hair and out of his current misery. (Not sure of Dem’s reaction here.)

*Ed is still at his abode. He tries to reach Rafie, who is back at work as if nothing happened the day before. He pleads, like the worm he is, to be forgiven. She won’t forgive him and lights into him with all the fury of a maddened raptor. Lucy calls him to give him Mari and Cefi’s message.

*Leo and Ant talk over lunch. Ant asks about his relationship with Mari. Leo says she’s the best thing in his life. Ant has a request. He wants him to sculpt a bust of Mari. (Leo should wonder why—being grateful to her as a doctor just doesn’t add up.)

*Liso welcomes Cris to his new home, adding that he’s sorry Cris has to leave his sick Tía. Cris is taken aback, momentarily. In the interests of starting out with always telling the truth, Cris admits he has no sick Tía. He’s ashamed to admit his Tía Marta runs Barbazúl. BarBaZoom! Immediately Liso tells him they are investigating her for possibly being an accomplice in a possible murder. Cris is naturally offended. No, not his Tía Marta. She’s been like a mother to him. They are at an impasse.

Episode #57 – Wednesday-Pt.2
*Al and Mari meet in neutral territory. She apologizes again for what she did to him, but she doesn’t want it to happen to him again. He’s puzzled, so she tells him about seeing Renata kissing some stranger. Of course he doesn’t believe it or her. He stops her cold. He tells her he’s glad he didn’t marry her and now she’s the first one to know he’s going to marry Ren. They are now both standing, looking at each other, close enough to kiss, but they don’t.

*Doc lets Lety off to go visit Santi. He’s in a crummy mood. He’s afraid to lose his faith and yet he has this foreboding in the pit of his stomach. Nothing Lety can do outdoors cheers him up. He tells her to get lost.

*Fab and Ren meet in public. She has the money for Joe, but there’s no more until the project gets started. They give each other a little peck before leaving, since she’s so concerned someone may see them (Too late, tart)

*Ant comes to see Mari as a patient. She checks him out. He’s so happy with the doctor she referred him to. He asks about The Pa.

*Apparently Lety stuck around. Back in his room, she suggests watching a video. He again tells her to scram. She leaves and Sara finds her crying outside the door. Sara marches in and questions Santi. He’s full of doubts. Everything in his life looks grey. Sara says that doesn’t give him the right to treat others badly. She says things take time. She comforts him.

*In Cefiro’s office, Mari and Julio talk about the assault on The Pa. Mari asks him to help her with “something.”

*Al gets back to the office. He needs a reservation for a romantic dinner for two.

*Mari, Cefiro and Liso wait for Ed to call regarding that important information they have. They worry that Lucy may not have passed on the message. Liso recommends waiting a little longer then try their scam again.

*Ed stops by his old mansion. He tells Carla he wants another chance with her—for Flo’s sake. She tells him not to bring Flo into the conversation. He promises he’ll change. He’ll make her happy. She tells him it’s too late. She tells him to get lost and finally gets the door shut in his face. (Good for her. Oh, wait. She’s crying. What does that mean?)

*Cris has come to see his Tía Marta. He comes right out with the accusation Liso shared with him. Did she have anything to do with the disappearance of that girl?

*Mari returns home and checks in with Leo, working in his studio. She asks for a hug and tells him about Al marrying Ren. Leo says she should have been ready for this. He suggests they leave town. She can’t. She has too much of herself invested here. Well, he has an expo to attend for a few days. She could take a few days off and come with him to the city of romance—to Paris.

*Ren arrives at an empty, darkened restaurant. Al is preceded by a musical interlude (not Mozart). They hug. The surprises are just beginning, he tells her, as he takes her to a table. She spies what she wanted and reacts accordingly. Al shows her a ring and asks her if she wants to marry him...What? No answer today? Drat.

Beginning tomorrow, I turn CQM over to the capable hands of our topnotch wordsmith, Blue Lass, until after Labor Day.

Doris--Thanks for the tip. I put Usurpadora away and put Alborada in. Love, love love FC in this one.

"With all the fury of a maddened raptor" -- love it! (Rafi *is* starting to look kind of hawkish.)

The Tia Marta revelation made me shout with surprise and wonder. The writers sure sneaked up on me! Never saw THAT one coming.

A saxophonist playing "Besame Mucho" is sooo much classier than a remote-controlled battleship. Sigh. And all wasted on a tart in a dress with a booby-tray.

Well, Blue Lass got there first, although not surprised that we delighted in the same moments. "With all the fury of a maddened raptor" was marvelous. And it was also very painful, as much as I dislike the character, to see her limping so painfully out of the apartment after the attack. The brutality of it was conveyed in that anguished, debilitated body.

Besame Mucho is one of my favorite songs so delighted that Alonso picked it even if the object of his affections is unworthy of all that romanticism. Cringing at the idea of Mariela and Leonardo going off to Paris (does anyone remember the Paris trip in Teresa?) but suffer on we must.

And yes, a nice surprise that Christian's auntie is the hardworking Tia Marta of BarbaAzul. A promising lead there. And new couple's First Fight (is that on anybody's Bingo sheet?

Thanks so much Anita. You were in fine form....as always.

Thanks, Anita.

Mariela should have gone all the way and showed Alonso the photo of Renata kissing Fabrizio no matter how blurry it was. He might have recognized her in spite of the low quality image.

No lovin’ for Ed the wimp anywhere.

I hope Mariela and Leonardo go to a Paris. It would be good for the viewer to get out of town for a while. I love when novelas take us traveling to different locations.

Thank you for your recap, Anita! I'm always a fan of bullet-point style recaps.

New avatar today, a sunrise pic my hubby took while at a convention on Florida's east coast last week.

The actress who plays Rafi (Lourdes Reyes ) did an excellent job conveying her physical and emotional pain, trauma, and humiliation.

I'm sitting at the Sara table on the Patio today. Thank heavens Santi has her as a somewhat-mother-figure to guide him as he navigates the current events, his emotions, and learning to be in a relationship with Lety.

Cara de impactada on my own face at Cris' big reveal about his auntie Marta! So, potential relationship drama aside, hasn't this now become a professional conflict-of-interest for Liso, the murder investigation case, and living with Marta's nephew?

I'm hoping the new couple's First Fight is short lived. Can't wait to hear what Tia says tomorrow. Will it be--I don't know what you are talking about? Hehe.

Oh, Doris, that sunrise pic brings back a wonderful childhood memory. I was a 9-year-old, adjusting to my first sleep-away camp in Punta del Este (up the coast from Montevideo). The counselors rousted us all out of bed--from 9-15-year-olds and marched us down to the beach. While they built a bonfire to make hot chocolate and pancakes for our breakfast, we played in the sand and the surf until it got light and the sun started to come up. We all sat still and watched that orange ball of fire emerge. It's something I'll never forget. It was my first sunrise.

What a wonderful memory Anita. And you recounted it so beautifully, it came alive for me as well. I once went with friends up into the mountains around Geneva to see a sunrise. It was stunning. We were looking at villages sleeping under a light gray fog, and then as the sun rose over the mountains, a beam of light slowly crossed the village, house by house. It was like seeing God waking up the world. Electrifying. I was on a high all day and when I got home and told the family at the boarding house about it they said I was finally speaking French! It was truly an elevating experience.

JudyB, I too am dreading the prospect of Paris -- and if it happens, it will probably happen on my watch. Ugh.

One thing's for sure: these two are no Arturo and Teresa.

Nopis...that's still one of my favorite telenovelas and it used to be on Hulu/Roku but alas, no more.
