Corazón Que Miente, Week 15 (9/10/18)–Tuesday Finals: Al gets the trophy; Ren loses more than Al.

Episode #71
*Dem is delivered to prison. His attire is well coordinated in blue. Guess who is waiting for him—Rog.

*Santi proposes to Lety in the garden, on his knees. She says yes. They fall over on the grass embracing.

*Preciado hangs himself in the jail shower. He admits to his family to being a coward and not standing up to pressure from the powerful and corrupt.

*All cleaned up and hair spread out, looking beautiful, Ren wakes up in a hospital bed. She yells that her legs hurt. Honey, your legs are gone. They’re hurting in a medical waste dump somewhere. Poetic justice for making fun of Santi’s formerly useless legs.

*Dem spends his first day with the other blue men. He is beaten black and blue. Somehow, Rog and Dem both fall over an upper tier railing to the floor below. (I guess they won’t be coming to the wedding.)

*Al heard me and took off his sunglasses. He and Mari canoodle some more, happy and in love.

*Marta gets a visit in jail from Cris and Liso. She’s learned her lesson. They have sort of good news for her. If she behaves herself she could have her sentence reduced and be out in maybe two years.

*Carmen and Mari will donate all the materials in Leo’s studio to a local arts school. Mari finds a letter. In it, Leo says she shouldn’t hold it against Ant. She should pardon him. It’s not worth it to lose the love of a father, especially the one who gave her life.

*Rafaela looks for a street vending job. Some rough guy tells her he has to try her out first and makes her enter a “pay-by-the-hour” nasty little cuartucho.

*Mari has asked Ant to see her. She lets him explain the whole story without interrupting. He was so young when Silvana told him she was pregnant. His parents sent him abroad. While away he realized he’d made a big mistake leaving her. He returned immediately to find Silvana and learned she had died giving birth to Mariela. Don Manuel wouldn’t let him see her. He tried, but Don M told him he, the GrandPa was the only Pa she would need. Ant moved to Monterrey and made up his mind to forget everything in the past. He asks for Mari’s forgiveness. She wants to know why now? He tells her he looked for her after her GPa died, thinking she would be in an orphanage or foster home. He had no idea she had been taken under the care and protection of Leo. Meanwhile, he had married a wonderful lady, but they weren't able to have children. After he told her about Mari, she urged him to look for her again and to make amends. He did search, for many years. When his wife fell terminally ill, she urged him again to find Mari. Finally, after hiring a P.I., he did. Mari says to leave it there, in the past for now, and perhaps one day they can live as Father and Daughter. Ant thanks her.

*Carla comes to visit Ed in jail. Ed thinks she’s changed her mind about him. No siree. She tells him to shut up and listen. She calls him a murderer. He denies it. The game is up. Carla tells him that in Vallarín’s statement he had been prepared to testify against him and Dem. He was the last living witness to Dem’s treachery. When he surfaced, that’s when Dem ordered Rog to kill him. So, he’s as guilty as they are in Flo’s death. She also tells him how strong and resilient Liso is after all the crap he took from Ed. She’s proud of him and how happy he is with Cris and there is going to be a wedding soon. Instead of asking forgiveness, Ed thinks only of himself and asks her to help him. You Go, Girl—Carla said NO. She leaves. Seeing her lawyer waiting for her outside perks her up. She’s happy to start a new life with him and he promises she won’t be sorry.

*At a board meeting, Mari turns all of her shares back to Sara because all she wants is to complete hers and Don Manuel’s dream of building that clinic on her grandfather’s land. Mari stays on as President of Quadrum. Al will become the CEO and Santi will be the Vice President. Al plans to remodel the hotel and turn it into a St. Jude, South, an advanced medical facility that will treat every one irrespective of ability to pay.

*Ant and Deni get ready to leave Puebla. Ant hands Mari a wedding check and says they will be back for the wedding, if she will have him. More than that, Mari says she wants him to deliver her to the altar. He’s overcome with emotion.

*Días Después

*Al is getting ready for his trip to the altar. He has a chat with his mother. Although he didn’t get to live with his father for very long, he sees that Leo was one of those persons who play an important part in someone’s life. He understands why she fell in love with him. Sara comes in to get him.

*Oh, sh*t. He’s alive. Dem is in the prison hospital, but he’s cuckoo, babbling that he has to recover his business empire. A nurse sedates him.

*Santi picks up Lety for the wedding. She looks smashing. Noé is looking GOOD! Amalita let her hair down, sort of, so she’s looking better.

*Mari is not dressed yet. She talks to Don M, telling him their dream for a clinic is about to come true. Cirila entertains Ant. Mari comes down the manse stairway to the beautiful baroque melody of Pachelbel’s Canon. She’s in a tight fitting, elegant, lace enhanced, traditional dress. Ant catches his breath. He takes her arm and tells her how beautiful she is, a picture of her mother. He thanks Carmen for being a mother to Mari. He tells Mari he will be there for her from now one. Before they leave, Mari asks him to help her with something….Hmm.

*Al watches outside as his bride approaches. She’s wearing the infamous Heart. He likes that detail as he has flashbacks to their childhood crushes. Pad Dan is anxious to get on with it. Antonio walks her up the aisle and hands her to Al. All the important characters are in the church, smiling and nodding in approval of this love finally coming together. No words are needed to describe the simple, moving ceremony. The whole town turns out to watch the couple exit to the cries of “Besos, besos,” which Al and Mari happily give them in multiples.

*FIN.

Comments:
Good evening faithful Anita. Yes indeed, quite a satisfying finale. Bad guys suffered dreadful consequences and everybody else is happily ever after. Dem, in addition to ranting and raving, is now a quadripelegiac so his future is even more dire than Renata's, though they do love to disfigure lovely but wicked women in these stories. And I thought Rafaela's punishment was especially harsh...living as a low-rent prostitute for the rest of her life!? Terrifying. Like an endless round of Rogelios.

Thought Alonso was quite fetching with his loving looks towards Mariela. He is very good at conveying tenderness and affection with just his eyes and slight smile. Well done. The wedding dress seemed so-so, but she looked good in it. Lovely, womanly actress for someone so young. And Karla was quite smashing, even if her intended was a bit on the portly, bald side. I guess great hair (Eduardo) isn't everything.

Best of all, to me, was that our good madrina looks to be ending up with the good doc, just as I prophesied in the beginning. Hopefully he will keep her on the straight and narrow, diet and medication-wise, and Cirilla will just have to find someone else to boss. And hey, Love can do great things for your health. Or so I've heard.

Anita, you did yeoman's work getting this going and keeping it going, and Blue Lass, you were a wonderfully funny and entertaining "sub" whenever Anita was out and about in her travels. Many thanks to both of you. There would have been no Patio without you and how sad that would have been.

Thank you, Anita and Blue Lass, for your faithful labors of watching and recapping this telenovela!!! I truly appreciate both of you, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you and well done!

This was a very satisfying final chapter. Lots of perfect anvils, more forgiveness, another engagement, pretty dresses & hair, nice music.

”Poetic justice for making fun of Santi’s formerly useless legs.” Wow, good memory, Anita! I had forgotten that. Renata won't get to wear her pirate boots anymore.

Dem as a quadriplegic – yes!!! Perfect anvil for him. Bazinga!!!

Rog – Good riddance to bad rubbish. His permanent record at school (yes, that permanent record) was probably littered with notations, saying he “Does not play well with others”) He looked like he was still breathing when the cops found him yesterday, so no surprise seeing him today.

Ed – yes, dude, you will rot in jail knowing you (unintentionally) orchestrated your daughter’s murder and your ex-wife has moved on with a guy who has a lot less hair than you have and a LOT more character and morals.

I loved everything about Mari’s wedding attire --- dress, hair, headpiece, music, especially the very classical slow version of Irene Cara “Flash Dance – what a feeling” outside the church before the boda began.

Telenovela fairies even arranged Mari's train perfectly, when she got to the bottom of the staircase at home with help from Pachelbel’s Canon. (It was a true Disney moment.)

Lety looked really great with her hair up and that dress!

- - - My cable guide had this last episode listed as "Corazon Qué Miente - LTC". I've seen the "LTC" on final nights of other telenovelas. Does anyone know what that means?

Anita: I went ROFLOL at your reference on Renata: "Honey your legs are gone!"

How did Rafaela become a prostitute ?

Blue Lass: You were AWESOME doing the recaps along with Anita of course.

Doris: I see the lovebirds got the happy ending we all waited for since forever.

Judy: Happy to see Carla telling Ed to shove it & MIC DROP.

An extra special thank you to Anita and Blue Lass for the time and effort it took to recap this novela. It was so much more fun getting to watch this novela on the patio.

Too bad they don’t put more first run novelas on during the day.

What can I say? The gran final was perfect. The anvils for the villains were very appropriate.

All in all, this was a a very enjoyable novela; not a complicated plot but a very well told story. I was never bored.

See you all on another patio sometime!

Lovely recap Anita. You and Blue Lass
Gave us stuff to laugh about,to be mad about, to wonder about, and to say WTH!
This is how a novella is suppose to be
Ya know? Those old fashioned love tns
Put the narcos somewhere else.

Her wedding gown was beautiful, loved the veil. Her hair and makeup was just
Flauless. A beautiful young actress.

So Demwit didnt die, wow. Rog did, he
Was leakin blood and everything.Yuck!
Perfect anvil for Demwit. And rog, he
Spilled so much blood. That was an ending he deserved.

And renata, stuck in the chair of wheels for the rest of her life. And
Rafi, get to lay on her back. To make
A living. Or any other position. Since
She was doin it anyway, first with dem
Then with ed, and then with rog. She got her training. And it's a shame cuz
She Was seemingly an intelligent like woman, she was a lawyer, she could have written her own ticket. But she
Prefered a cheap lay with these men who just used her. Some women don't think much of themselves I guess.

I think all the ends were all tied. Pretty much.

Anita and Blue Lass, Thank you both.

Anita, thank you so much for such a delightful recap of a wonderful episode.
I enjoyed this episode immensely, and that's a high praise from someone that abhors the Mariella/Alonso pairing. I even didn't dislike the wedding.
The anvils were more than appropriate and the best I have seen in a very long time, although it stretches belief that Rafi had no other choice but to become a prostitute. She could have easily found a job, maybe not very well paid one, but anything beats being a prostitute.
And I am a little pissed off that Marcia keeps working at Quadrum as it wasn't discovered that she is a blackmailer and is untrustworthy and dangerous. I certainly wouldn't want a person like her working for me.
I was also bothered by Mari forgiving Ant so easily and my beanie had to be replaced by a new one when Mari discovered a letter from Leo (why would Leo write Mari a letter instead of talking to her and more importantly, why would he hide said letter? Was he somehow feeling that his time is up? and if so, why didn't he consider the eventuality that Mari wouldn't find the letter, or find it too late or too early, even before finding out about Ant?), but as all of you keep reminding me-it's a telenovela, let your mind float..

With all its beanie moments and horrendous galans, I am sad that this telenovela is over and am going to miss this lovely and lively patio and our stellar recappers Anita and Blue Lass.
May we meet again and thanks for all the fun!

Irene

"I guess they won't be going to the wedding." JAJAJAJAJAJA.

All in all, a very satisfying conclusion to an enjoyable temporada in Alternate Puebla. I will miss all my virtual and imaginary friends. You guys have been great.

I have to say the beaniest moment of the final was when we all arrived at the church for what Mariela told Ant would be "a small ceremony, just family and very close friends" and were greeted by EIGHTY PEOPLE WE HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE. Shouldn't there be a rule that you can't go to the big wedding unless you get a name-check in IMDB? Even if it's just as "second balloon seller" or "sweaty guy at gym"? (And where was Poinciano??? He already has a name and probably could have borrowed a sport jacket.)

P.S. I finished LA CASA DE LAS FLORES and am wrapping up season 1 of INGOBERNABLE before the release of season 2 on Friday. Does anyone have any other recommendations for TNs or other dramas that are delivered in half-hour increments? That's all I can handle right now...

Did anyone see Julio at the wedding? I barely recognized Elena, so probably missed him too.

Thank you to our small but loyal Patio denizens for sticking with this tn until the end. I've enjoyed "working" with you and sad that it's over (even though I was getting a little tired of the characters).

I'm sure I'll see JudyB and Doris around somewhere else (gluttons for tn punishment as they are).

Irene--it was a pleasure to have you; your sense of adventure came right through your comments--until you admitted it.

Nina--your expressions and expressiveness have always been welcome and gives us insight and laughter.

Jarifa--thanks for stopping by as often as you did to make your contributions, as busy as you are on other telenovelas.

Maggie--your voice was welcome and fun; wish you had been here longer.

Blue Lass--what can I say. You stepped in to not only save the series from a slow death, but took the lead in sass and snark and carefully placed words and phrases that delighted all of us. Thank you.

To all the rest who read but didn't comment--please come out of the shadows. It's fun here.

I'll be away for the rest of the week (in a dry place), but will check in when I get back.

Stay safe, everyone.

Julio? Who is Julio? JAJA. I'll rewatch, just for you, BL, but I think he was so dressed up and slicked down that none of us recognized him.

Julio was definitely there, at least before the ceremony- he was ogling Zefiro's daughters together with the altar boy (forgot his name).

Irene

Cefiro has daughters? I really have to start paying attention to the action, instead of getting lost in the subtitles.

I just chose to pretend I saw Julio snogging Cirila behind the potted plants.

Blue Lass, I watched the uncut version of the finale ( I really don't know why I bothered) so maybe this scene was cut and that's why you didn't see it.
I actually was surprised that they didn't go there with Julio and Cirila.

Irene

I watched the last ten minutes - the wedding scenes - and saw Julio. Yay. He was next to the doctor and Cefiro, just hard to recognize him in a suit.

I just started streaming the current season of MIRA QUIEN BAILA, and it was great fun. I've only watched 1 episode so far, but our Lisandro sure can dance!

Oh my...who knew. Will have to check it out.

Back again in the great Mid-Atlantic, hurricane-free zone.

Before you all scatter, I watched the first 4 episodes of Falsa Identidad. Yes, it has a lot of gun fire and cold-blooded shootings already (I've gotten inured to shootings--it's torture and surgery I don't like). I must say, the premise *ought* to be fun, watching these two strangers pretend to be married for their lives' sakes. There are quite a few folks from Uni who have migrated over to Tele, including "Leonardo" from PASL (without glasses), as the mayor of Alamos (Mexico).

You have time to catch up. Novelera and Juanita have posted some detailed recaps to help sort out the characters (including a peek at Wikipedia). Maybe one of you will join us.
