Amar a Muerte, 12/7/18, Episode 26: There Are Kisses And There Are ...Kisses

Lucia is surprised to take a late night phone call from the head of the Armente Family.  He asks if she meant what she said on tv or was just posing for the Press.  He's willing to take her at her word for a sit-down.  Yes, it will be in a public place and he'll call her back with a couple of choices.  NO cops or media present or else!  He's a man of his word and she can trust him not to pull anything on her.  "--You wanted to talk and that's what we'll do."

Across town, Carla counts her cash.

Lupita bemoans the fact that now they need to disappear and have no money to make the move.  Julieta says it's no use because those two men will follow them to the ends of the earth; no matter where they try to escape to, they'll find them.

Valentina comes with a pie to apologize for being a selfish, self-centered, baby earlier.  Her chauffeur brought her.  Lupi and Jules politely share their humble circumstance at the table with her while doting Milagross plies her with hot chocolate and embarrassing fan-gal gossip.  While chatting, it comes out that Jules has told Val her daddy is also dead.

Meanwhile, the party is going strong at Renata's Road House apartment.  There's drinking and dancing aplenty with Red the belle of the ball.  Guillermo screws his courage with shot after shot of tequila.

Carla finds her widowed husband at the same bar and sits down.  He buys her a drink and he tells her of his lost, lamented love--his wife who committed suicide-- and his love little daughter.  If it weren't for her.....he invites her to meet his daughter sometime soon.  She says she'd love to.....

Lupi later asks Jules why she's told her friend that her father's dead.  He came back to life and is very much alive!  Not for her, amends Jules!  She hates the man and for her he is dead!  Besides why should she brag to everyone that her daddy was a hitman???  HMMM????

At the same time, Johny is on the phone with a female telling her that "the job" hasn't arrived yet. The doorbell rings just has he hangs up.  Why, it's Inspector Montilla!  He's only stopping for a quick question or two, "--unexpected and at a late hour, sorry."  He tries wrangling the truth from him about just how he knew that Lucia Borges had gotten away from her kidnappers.  Johny sidesteps and reminds him that certain things must be kept secret.  Montilla says he's staying till Johny tells him.  There aren't supposed to be secrets between them, right?

At Ren's the party is over.  It remains for the last of the die-hards to be escorted, if not pushed and/or dragged, out the door.  Once gone, Guillermo thanks Ren for the invitation and says he had a good time.  She changes from the formal to the familiar tense with him and tells him she's glad he came.  Guille leans in for THE KISS-SSSS.  However, one of the drunken slugs from the office falls down at the bar and spoils the moment-- but only for a few seconds.  They turn from him to each other and the feeling that comes over the two of them cannot be denied.  They kiss.

On the lighter side, Beltran's been eating junk food and drinking beer all evening.  She reminds him for the millionth time how it's all going to be bad for his health. (Yep, putting all of Viewerville in mind that it just may be that the real Beltran said screw it ala Thelma and Louise that afternoon of the accident.)   He mumbles in between bites that he's already died once and nothing happened.  He'll be fine.  "--And while you're at it, lover, bring me another cold one, yeah?"

There's a ring at the doorbell and Johny excuses himself while he chats--yes, chats--with Lady Death.
Johny greets her warmly (why doesn't this surprise us?) and says she's come late.  She says she's always on time-- but her timeline.  Anyway, he's sorry he cannot get away this evening.  She says it isn't a problem.  She'll look for him herself.  He moves in to kiss La Muerte but she quickly backs away, cool as a cucumber.  Johny seems mesmerized and sexually enthralled.

Back upstairs, Montilla asks if everything's ok.  Johny smiles and says just fine.  That's just the neighbor lady.  Now where were we?

In the back office of the shady casino, the guy who got robbed is popped by Carla's game-pimp, ZZ Topper Dude.

Carla remembers hubby's invitation with a satisfied smile.

At Camilo's, he and Jacobo/León are supposedly chatting.  Cam's more like slugging down his whiskey's in a fell swoop.  "--It's been ages since I've seen you down your drink in a single swallow." Cam says he merits another.  Jacón admits he got nervous when he was put into handcuffs.  Cam says if you were nervous --Ha! I was terrified!"  "--It was Lucia who got them to take them off me."  "--A short-circuit?"  "--After what happened, I don't know if the object is more desire or the plan for vengeance."  He sees Lucia ringing him on his cell.  He takes the call.

end parte 1~~
======================

Parte 2~~

Lucia informs Jacobo about the call to set up the meeting with Armenta.  She admits being frightened and not being able to warn the police otherwise she'll be doomed, essentially.  He says he's been frightened as well and cannot stop thinking about her.  She pauses and measures her words.  "--The only thing I can tell you is that you are good for me and I love talking with you."  He tells her tomorrow morning they'll be able to think it through and determine a plan, but not to answer again if they call her.  They wish each other good night and hang up.

Cam is surprised the head of the Armenta Family actually called and spoke to her after her invitation via the news.  He believes she's in even more danger.

At Johny's once again.  Johny asks the inspector why the police continue giving the chauffeur so much benefit of the doubt.  Montilla tells him he thinks there may be a bit of jealousy on Johny's part.  He answers that, as León Carvajal was like a father to him, it is more his duty to look after the family and the business for him now. Johny then apologizes for starting off on the wrong foot with Montilla, and says they should smooth things over and be friends.  Right?  Montilla isn't swayed.

In her bedroom, Lucia looks and León's picture and finally, in an act of either disgust or frustration or both, turns it over.

Again, Johny sidesteps Montilla's questions regarding how he got word of the hostages' escape.  Johny tells the cop to do what he gets paid for:  investigating.  "--Thank you for the visit and have a good night."  Montilla reminds him not to leave the city without letting him know.

Across town, Belchin' is burnin' up the sheets with the wife--at least until Javier calls for his dad to come to his room and talk.  It was a nasty nightmare about dying.  He knows the name of his disease now--read it off the doctor's paperwork.  He'll have pain and then die.  Belchin' promises he won't and that he's going to get him well.  He has to go to Texas to bring back his " buried treasure" first.

Guille arrives home, drunk as a skunk, and Val giggles as this is the first time Big Bro' has ever done such a thing,  FF>>FF>>

Lupi gets fired when the also drunk Panchito (who has apparently followed her to the bar) starts fighting because some guy got all handsy with her.  She tells him in the vestibule that she's not going to become his lover and to get lost once and for all.

Belchin's dog begins barking.  He goes around the house to check on things and sees La Muerte smiling in the hallway at him.  He tells her he's not afraid of her.  He takes a look in the mirror again and this time sees his real face in it--the groty, sweating, filthy-pig version of himself.  He looks away and La Muerte has vanished.

At the same time, Jacobo enters the bathroom and sees his true self--León--looking back at him.  Suddenly he's bowled over with gut pains.

The next day, Ren wakes up with a hell of a hangover and Roomie teases her. Ren doesn't remember the making out on the couch with her boss, though.

Turns out Guille also has no memory of the night before.  He's just as hung over.  Val gives him the old family remedy: honey and salt?  He and Val are at the table when Lucia arrives.   She didn't really sleep at all.  Val and Guille offer their support.  She has to run off and meet with Jacobo in the study (we presume) on the other side of the manse.

Silvina comes out to the driveway and gives Jacòn Sra. Lucia's message.  Sil mentions she's been seeing things in her coffee that make her worry.  She warns him that for the good of them both he should steer clear of Sra. Lucia as much a possible.

Jacón greets Lucia in the study.  Neither he nor she has slept very well.  There's been no call from Armenta yet.  "--That's good, isn't it?  It confirms I have the 'balls' to face him."  Jacobo tells her she's really in deep doo-doo and should cancel the meeting.  Nothing good can come out of this meeting with him.  As they discuss her fears and his worry they draw closer together.  She refuses to cancel it and to look ridiculous.  He tells her then he will accompany her.  She asks him if after everything that's happened he's going to continue this? He answers that with everything that has happened, then there's even more reason for him to accompany her.  He moves in and she finally gives in to her passion--as does he:  they enjoy another liplock of passion.....

INITIAL REACTIONS to LAST FRIFISH NIGHT

Extraño mas que nunca y no se que hacer del argumento.

What is going on w/ La Muerte & El Slimeball (JohnEAngel)?
This will be the 1st telenovela that I ever saw a demon taking a taxi & going hither & yon, skulking about. Skulk 1 w/ Slimeball & skulk 2 w/ Chino-in-Beltran.

1) Maybe someone can explain to me what is going on w/ Slimeball & LM. Did he talk w/ La Muerte (LM) on phone & call her mi niña? How did they get to be such buddies. He was about to kiss her but she avoided it. Wud he have died? It is almost like the 2 were in cahoots. I don't see how we could learn that somehow La Muerte isn't La Muerte, but a human colluder with Bola de Limo. Vot der Dumboozle?! Why did she visit him? LM just feel like fooling around this night?

I think Slimeball's nape of neck should be checked for moth mancha.

2)Why was LM visiting CinB? We saw what may have been a parallel visitation w/ Leon-in-Chino. Both cuerpos saw in the mirror their soul-self. (Does that mean a mirror wud reveal the soul to anyone who viewed w/ a mirror?) I wonder why LinC bent over in pain? Was the soul of Chino trying to reclaim his original cuerpo & Leon had to fight him off?

Slimeball seemed drunk w/ non-Columbo & he refused to answer questions. How duzzee get away widdat? non-Columbo seems an impotent investigator.

SILVERFISH:
Classically if a witch or prophet makes a prediction, it will inevitably happen. The old cook witch Silverfish who divines w/ coffee grounds at the mansion warned Leon-in-Chino to stay away from Lucia. He won't; so we must postulate that their union will lead to disaster. (The way to get rid of Silverfish would be to ban ground coffee from the mansion & insist on nothing but Taster's Choice instant.)

Why did they have Willy get a huge splinter in the hand? Writer thinks sideways in making up tangential stuff or will that have some significant result? Maybe a DNA sample that links him to the guy who was shot? They sure made a lot of it with a huge bandage. You wud think that after the canoodle Renata would have had blood all over herself & clothes.

I give A+ to Boyer in acting; she looked like she had been up all night. Is she a methods actor who stayed up all night to look the part? Or did she "act" it?

They will now focus on Beltran going to TX I guess. Tho that leaves the mina Rosita dangling. Will he take her with him? "Let's go study anthropology in TX; we'll do the Alamo."

FANTASY REWRITE:
My rewrite of the phone conversation between Lucia & the Mob Chief Servando Armenta:

Lucia: Hold on; you gotta call me back in 2 minutes. & if you don't call me back in 2 minutes, you will die. U do know what a mortar is don't you? Well how fast can you run? In 30 seconds the first bomb will go off on the roof of your house.
Armenta runs for it.
We see LinC hidden in bushes w/ a mortar, loading a shell that immediately fires.

Wheeeeee kaboom!
Armenta calls back: What are you? some wise guy? I'll take care of you.
Lucia: Call me back in 2 minutes or you die. The next mortar shell will hit right where you are now standing in 30 seconds.
Armenta runs.
We see LinC again hidden in bushes w/ the mortar, loading a 2nd shell that immediately fires.

Wheeeee kaboom!

Armenta calls back: OK, OK, Please don't kill me!

REACTIONS TO JARDINERA'S much appreciated RECAP / IMHO

WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND

1. "those two men will follow them to the ends of the earth; no matter where they try to escape to, they'll find them."

What 2 men wud follow Lupita & Juli?

2. "Red the belle of the ball"

Who is red?

3. "her daddy was a bight hitman?"
What is a bight hitman? A guy who bites people to death? LOL.

4. "At the same time, Johny is on the phone with a female telling her that "the job" hasn't arrived yet."

What is "the job"? What was that call about? Didn't JohnESlimeBall call her "mi niña"? Was he talking w/ La Muerte (who now rides taxis). BTW, who is the taxicab driver? Is he a henchman demon? Wasn't there discussion w/ him about it not being the time for something?

5. "it just may be that the real Beltran said screw it ala Thelma and Louise that afternoon of the accident."

I don't know what that is about. Who are Thelma & Louise?

6. "Johny greets her warmly (why doesn't this surprise us?) and says she's come late."

Did they have an appointment? This totally surprised me. What on earth was that conversation about? Off the wall. Has anyone seen the nape of Johny's neck?

7. "ZZ Topper Dude"

What's that?

------

One thing Willy does not seem to me is courageous. To me he is wimpish & obtuse. Now after Renata got drunk, she got courage or just lost inhibitions & went w/ her impulses.

Carla seems strangely non-eager to rekindle her romance w/ her husband. They are unlikely to have Carla be a Mujer Asasina, but I wud enjoy having her cooly plug thugs who come after her.

Is it not that Chino denied being the true father of Juli? Is he the bio-father? To me Lupi is not at all attractive because of her cold dead pan over serious face. So I have to wonder how any man got involved with her as Chino did. & why Pancho is obsessed with her is beyond me.

A-Leash-ia is doing a good job of being a pest w/ Beltran.

Gracias otra vez for las flores de su Jardin!

Given the chummy relation of JohnE & La Muerte, I have to ask if JohnE is a demon himself w/ a satanic agenda. He looks the part. La Muerte y El ___ .

Happy Saturday, Patio.

Jardinera, awesome recap, thanks!

Surprise of the week: JonEvil and Lady Death meet...woah!! what is that all about?? and who is "mi niña" (the person JonEvil was talking to on the phone) who seems to have set up the meeting between JonEvil and Lady Death since JonEvil was calling to tell her that "the job/package" had not arrived?? Geez, this TN keeps throwing these curves at us! There's no telling why LD visited JonEvil; we'll just have to wait n see.

Enoch, the two men Lupita and Juls were referring to are Fabian and Mejia, the private investigator.

Just a thought--Could "mi niña" be a madame and she was sending JonEvil a lady of the night??

Enoch, I don’t think Andres, the taxi driver, is a demon, but he may be just a mortal who recognizes who Lady Deathi is. He complimented her looks and she seemed to take it as a way to prolong his life, since she told him not to worry...it wasn’t his time yet.

Thanks Jardinera. Yeah, and who knew that honey and salt were remedies for a hangover? Although the salt makes sense, since you're usually dehydrated. And maybe the honey gives you some quick energy when you're feeling like crap.

Lots of mysteries last night. Did the taxi driver know La Muerte? Clearly she knew him, but I thought it was just a guy coming on to an attractive lady. And when she called him by name he looked startled.

And is Johny in league with La Muerte? I thought it was HER he was calling "mi niña". But Lordy, how do you get La Muerte's phone number?

On to firmer ground. Since I'm a big ol' sentimental wuss I was very touched by the scene between Beltrán and his son. Beltrán is a rascal, but he's keeping his wife more than satisfied sexually, and their conversation under the covers was so funny, I didn't even get annoyed when he told his frightened boy later, "Ah don't worry, she just needs to keep her trap shut and out of our business. She doesn't even want us to play football!"

Although our rumpled Camillo looks like Colombo, it's Montilla who's playing the sly role and I enjoy his scenes and Johny's smarmy attempts to bribe him. I think all the actors are doing a great job, and with our fabulous recappers, this all adds up to what Gringo always called Must Watch TV.

Thanks Jardinera. I always enjoy your style and wit. Now the real question is What are all those interesting techniques Beltrán is employing in bed..."the lamp", the "punishing wall"..and what else. Well, Inquiring Minds want to know but probably won't find out. Afraid to google these babies!

Tnx Chick,
Do u have any ID or comments on La Muerte's taxicab driver? Is he also a demon? Was it an infernal taxi?

It cud be that while JohnE SlimeBall is aquainted w/ La Muerte, Slimeball does not know that she is La Muerte. Maybe LM presented herself to JohnE as a vecina. If Slimeball & LM were in cahoots, you wud think that JohnE-SB wud know that the chofér was actually Leon. But it is obvious that JohnE does not know that. & one doubts that if Slimeball knew that this gal was La Muerte, SlimeB wud try to kiss her.

JudyB "he's keeping his wife more than satisfied"

Yeah, he is satisfying her need to have somebody to criticize, scold, nag, & control. Wud the old Chino have tolerated such in his moohair? I spose her ultimate satisfaction wud he in him letting her be his dominatrix. Look for her to bring out a whip?

There seems to be a change in Chino after his shock therapy made him Beltran.

Are you ready to see La Muerte whip out her cell phone?

Thanks Jardinera, what a handful to keep straight.

I just hopeo La Muerte doesn't get wind of my saying earlier that she is kinda hot. I am happy with things Just...Like...They...Are... .

In reference to "the job" and(or) "mi nina" that hasn't arrived yet, I wonder if Johny has sent for Lucia's mother-the brothel owner. He is upset w/Lucia for standing up to him and may want to destroy her in front of the Carvajal family. If so, I hope it backfires on him and opens the door for Lucia to show the family just what a snake he is.

Ginger, I saw the previews for Death Lady visiting Johny and Beltino and could hardly wait to see the show. But then when we saw the show, it added to the questions rather than answering some mysteries. I wondered if they left something out? Thus far we had not seen Death Lady really interact with anyone except Valerio, the Shaman.

I'm more confused than ever now.
So does Johny actually know who she is, or is he in the dark too? Maybe she is using him to feed her soul appetite. I thought Saints and Spirits, etc. justy kinda Star Trek like teleported around. I never saw Spock taking no stinking taxi.

Hi all. It is difficult to type everything that happens in excruciating detail and therefore I must rely on you to bring up certain things I miss or have determined are not top priority to quote verbatim. I would go crazy quoting verbatim from the sheer amount of time it would take to do so, if nothing else. So, I apologize for not delivering the script of the recap that way to you.

As for Johny's "my niña" I thought the call was to La Muerte and his "job" /encargo was regarding his next victim whom I believe to be Jacobo. He lied that she was a neighbor to Montilla. I do believe he's entranced around her because he's a natural killer and perhaps a kindred "spirit" so to speak. Death is like an aphrodesiac to this psychopathic and pretentious goon. But I could have it all wrong. : ? ((

El Chino has changed while living with this new family. Look at the patience and camaradery he now shows. He never really cared to hang around home before he was executed. He is still a shlub and devious, but he does know how to quiet the new wife and is truly enjoying his relationship with her. I don't think he really ever enjoyed his marriage or family life with Lupi and Jules. Lupi is a drag on everyone around her.

Enoch:

ZZ Top - a fabulous bluesy-rock band. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZZ_Top Try the link to see a classic picture of them and their beards. You'll see exactly what I refer to. They have their own and unique 'look'.

"Sharp Dress Man" is one of the best known of their songs. Watch it on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wRHBLwpASw

If she whips out a cell phone it better be one that has been run over by a car or dropped in the toilet.
It has to have died one time too. No snappy little pink T-Mobile jingle when she powers it up.

Hey, ever notice whern TN people use their cell phones to (fake) make a call, as they hold it to their ear, it is still bright as the sun rather than the screen going off like phones do?

When LeonChino was talking to Camillo the subject came up as to whether Jacobo was pretending to be interested in Lucia to lay the groundwork for his revenge, or if he was falling for her. Unfortunately Jacobo/Leon/Chino seems to not know either.

I don't want Lucia to get off scott free just because she is hot and had a boo hoo that her boyfriend killed her husband. Now if she had turned him in ASAP it would be a little different, though having a change of heart before the corpse is cold does not get you a pass either, though SHE maintains she was not privy to Johny's ultimate scheme. But she nor anyone else has not told us what that alternate scheme she was OK with was. So I think she still has to pay even though we are seeing her looking like she wants to be good.

Inspector J

In my youth said the sage,
I took to the law,
& argued each case with my wife;
& the muscular strength it imparted my jaw
Has lasted the rest of my life."

I reviewed the JohnBeBad interaction w/ La Muerte:
Since he said, "Mucho Gusto" to her on meeting her, it appears that was their first (know to SlimeBall) meeting. The meeting followed the "Mi Niña" phone call. LM arrived shortly after in a taxi. Mysteries in my mind remain, but one hypothesis is that w/ Loosey not been so loose w/ him that day, he called a pimp or celestina for a prostitute. But how LM intercepted the call & substituted herself for the prostitute is a mystery; & why wud LM do that? Of course I spose there may be little rational reason for what a demon does, aside from a desire to hurt humans. Maybe someone else has a better splain or we just have to wait for the splain.

Jardinera, no need to apologize. I know exactly what you mean about not being able to go into excruciating detail. Thank goodness we have a wonderful patio who shares details that help explain the events.

Johny has this way of speaking, almost a slur, that makes it hard to understand much of what he says. Is that a trait of the character or does Nones just speak like that?

ITA that El Chino has changed while living with his new family, but there are instances when he reverts to the cold-hearted criminal we first met.

JudyB, I too enjoy the scenes between Beltino and Javi. And the scene where he and Alicia were in bed was too funny. I'm glad the writers included these scenes because it gives us a break from all the other dismal events. I also enjoy any scenes with Renata and Kayla; they are so true to life and typical of single young women.

I really don't think Johny knows who Lady Death is. I think she showed up in place of whomever he was expecting.

Ginger:
Do we have any evidence that Loosey's pimp mom is alive?

Kirby:
As I recall La Muerte said a lot to Chino-in-Beltran in the falls-cave; is my memory wrong? In an old movie (Angel on your shoulder? Frank Muni?) I saw satan come up from Hell in an under the sidewalk elevator (not teleport there).
Spock took a bus in my favorite Star Trek movie scene where outer-space whales were coming in a water filled spaceship to destroy earth for harming the whales on earth. This guy on the bus was playing a boom box. To stop the racket, Spock put the Spock shoulder pinch on him.

Well, as a believer in grace, I am willing to let off Loosey from her past sins given a proper transformation, but I doubt that the Telenovela will. My guess on Loosey is that after she was pimped out, she turned to street prostitution as the only way she (completely uneducated) knew how to get money to survive. JohnESlimeBall took advantage of her; she being a dependent weak woman (sob sob) enamored & worshipful of the slimeball. She never had a daddy, did she? (sniff sniff)

Chick, lets explain the JohnESlimeball slur as the grease ball Gollum slur (Lord of the Rings):
My preshshshshioussssss.
LOWpothesis

Maybe since Loosy was not loose that evening, JohnESlimeBall called his favorite pimp celestina, Loosy's mom. It cud be that JohnE had been a client of Loosy's mom; then mommy dearest told JohnE she wud put him onto some 1st class comfort woman for a fee. He paid & then she told him how Loosy was living on the street. So JohnE picked up Loosey originally. But this night, since Loosy had tightened up temporarily, he called his favorite pimp celestina for a prostitute. Ola mi niña. Can you shoot me a cute prostitute for a destitute in the institute?

So Mommy Dearest sent a prostitute, but La Muerte decided it was time to send that prostitute some black witch moths & take her life. Then La Muerte assumed the prostitute's roll & went to play with El Slime Ball. Only the inspector's presence hindered the fatal encounter.

Just guessing.

Correction: On rewatching I saw that Willy cut his hand on a shard of glass (not a splinter). The writers went to a lot of trouble to set that up. Now Willy has a huge bandage on his hand. Anyone have a suggestion as to what plot line is being set up w/ the shard cut?

Enoch, I don’t think the shard cut was meant for anything more than to show that Guille had no memory of how he got it or what happened with Renata just as she had no memory of it.

Enoch: I have removed the biblical post. Next time it would be enough to mention the reference and to leave a link. State your thought as it refers to the point about the tn scene/character study. It would be more legitimate and an acceptable method of critique. OK? Thanks.

The cut from the shard of glass was only a vehicle to Ren having a chance to get more romantically touchy-feely IMHO. It isn't my cup o' tea, but neither is the actress. She's a great comedienne and has good timing, but as a romantic lead....not so much.

Good morning, Patio!

Good point about the shard of glass, Jardinera!

Happy Sunday to all!!

Adriana Noel here, writing from work.

Thank you, Jardinera

I read the recap before actually watching, so I thought my eyes were fooling me when you mentioned JohnnyBeMoth (??) canoodling with Lady Death. Let me echo Enoch thoughts by asking: have we ever seen Johnny's neck? Is this why he always wears those ugly shirts??
Let's say that he's like Leonchi and Beltrino (or however we call them, it changes so much, I'm confused) and his nasty sould inhabited the body of some random guy. Could this have happened after he became close to Leon? Maybe Good Guy Johnny died, Bad Guy X took his body, saw an opportunity and took it? Or maybe he was rotten from the start?
If he is one of the tormented souls it stands to reason that he would take advantage of Lady Death contacting him (like she did with Beltrino) to literally make a pact with Death? Keep him alive for much more than he's supposed to be and in return he gives Death more work to do (killing all those people)... I don't know if I'm making any sense, but this is the first time that the whole paranormal stuff actually interests me.

If not, I'm all here for Leonchi and Lucia hooking up everywhere and anywhere behind JohnnyBeCheated's back.
Not so much here for Renata and Willy - she could do so much better - I mean, seriously, anyone would be a better option for her. Mateo? He's a nice guy, soon to discover that he has a rotten wife (I hope); if he's still alive at the end of the show, he deserves a nice lady.

I have not been on the forum for a little while but after the Friday episode, i was so darn confused with the Srta Muertita that i had to come on here and see if i was the only one or to find out if i had missed some very important scene or piece of info along the way!!! Thank goodness I’m not alone in my confusion!!!! I was just starting to get more comfortable with this paranormal stuff ( for the first time, mind you!). And then this scene with Johnnyslimeball and Muertita comes and I’ve lost my temporary seduction into this paranormal world!!!
I, too, really like Beltran’s relationship with the son - heartwarming! And i also like having (what i consider) such a physically and emotionally attractive male in a lead role (Jacobo)- its been a while 😂😂. Some really terrific acting and fascinating multi- layered characters in this TN! I love it and wish it were on at 9pm!
Carole ( someone requested i use AMOT instead of amotelenovelas and I’m fine with that!!!)

Welcome, Amotelenovelas! Hadn't seen you in a while, but glad you're back. Yes,it seems that these writers try to stump us with these little surprises that leave us feeling like we've missed something.

"physically and emotionally attractive male in a lead role (Jacobo)" DEFINITELY!! RAWWRRR!

Adriana, Renata could definitely do better. I like your thought about Mateo as a possibility.

Thank you, Jardinera.

Adriana Noel, that is a very interesting theory about Johnny.

How many people have that bloody spot on the back of their necks?

Susie, mine finally went away when I started feeding the squirrels. :-)

Whoa, everyone. It's Sunday. This post carries on until Monday night. Let's play nice in our virtual sandbox. This tn is too good for us to get side-tracked.

Thanks to the recappers that took me from LAST Thursday night through this Friday. I'm all caught up by reading the recaps and comments, then watching the episodes. Kudos for the excellent reportaje. You should all be writing for literary journals. (Meanwhile, I knew exactly where I could >>FF.) Of course I lingered in the warm, I hope, backwater pool LCJ and Luci plunged back into. P.S. I've tried swimming with tennies on--they're a drag. A suit jacket and trousers can't be much better, nor a long black dress. They should have shed them at the start. But they HAD to get home fully clothed, no? Johny would have been ever the more suspicious.

So, here are my meanderings through the week.
Enoch questions:
I don't know who "Sanchez-Bueno" is & don't recall that pistol fondling scene. Sanchez-Bueno is the current governor running for President, who is the corrupt bloke Johny insisted on supporting with favorable reporting in the Carvajal newspaper and other media outlets—which Mateo and Gastón objected to. You probably know by now who he is, but he is not the pistol fondling guy. That was the head of the Armenta cartel.

Did you notice that Sergio was making a coating for the popcorn with melted butter and peanut butter? Makes me want to try some (maybe with a little Nutella thrown in).

Why can't A-Leash-A just enjoy what she has and patiently wait for Beltrán’s head to recover from the trauma? She likes the new, invigorating sex, but not the new goldbricker Beltran. She wants him back at work and he doesn’t want to go back (rationally). He wants to eat forbidden foods and she can’t make him eat the stuff that is healthy for him. IMPASS

Are they really calling the head of security Frau? (Mrs. in German). I thought I saw him listed as Fabricio, but maybe I only heard it or it was my imagination. Don’t know why we started calling him Frau.

I have no idea how they intend to apprehend Chino, since he was legally released. El Chino was electrocuted for assassinating a judge, not the Governor in San Antonio. Mejía and Fabián don’t want to apprehend him—just find him. Fabby, the judge’s son, just wants to kill him. His own sense of justice.

Arrest vs. held/detained. Spanish dictionary is not helpful. Detener (the verb) is defined as stopped, arrested, detained—take your pick. In English we would say the lesser of these events would be “held for questioning,” “or take the subject in for questioning,” (or at least that is what I get from CSI: Miami). Detained may be the same and involve a few hours getting interrogated, or temporarily locked-up or NOT released while they run a background check for outstanding warrants, etc. They may want fingerprints and mug shots. They could be let go with a citation (if there is some minor infraction involved). Arrested would see the arrestee wanting a lawyer right away, requesting bail, etc., or put in jail with sufficient cause until there is a hearing before a judge. That might come after someone is held or detained. I think Montilla WAS going to arrest LCJ based on whatever suspicions Johny ponied up. Montilla has probably seen other cases like this, so his suspicion level went up naturally. If LCJ was someone important, they would have questioned him civilly and told him not to go anywhere in the first place.

Johny has a terrific way with words. He comes across as sympathetic with a gentle tone and BAM, the person’s head is in a vice! He wants to know from Luci if something happened between her and LCJ. She replies, “Must I remind you that I was just kidnapped…that we were trying to escape? …What is wrong with you?” As he holds her head, JonEvil admits that she is right and thanks her because no one understands him the way she does…and no one respects him the way she does. Menacingly, he adds that no one knows him the way she does...and if she is lying to him, he’ll kill LCJ. (Kind of verbatim from Kirby’s recap) I think he used this method on the Pol he contacted to free Luci and on Montilla during the questioning of how Johny knew ahead of everyone else that Luci and her chofer had escaped. The latter I could check on.

Before we get carried away with the kidnapping, let’s not forget what Montilla has in his back pocket on León’s murder: He informed Johny that BaldMan (Luis Camargo), who hired the waiter who knifed León to death (and is also dead), did not commit suicide. More likely he was pushed off the balcony. He knows Luis was in the building because he found those two passes in his wallet and suspects the killer works at Carvajal. Johny looks over the security videos toute de suite. (NO UPDATES ON THIS.)

I would like to know where the soul is whose body is now occupied by Karla. Obviously the daddy/cemetery worker has no problem with seeing his daughter alive. I wonder what happened to her that it freed up a body for Karla’ soul.

Diana, our Goddess of Wisdom checked in with, “I see the first few minutes most night and must say your telenovio Michel Brown is so hawt, I don't know how TV screens haven't caught on fire.” A-MEN to that!

Anita, it's always nice to read your take on events...quite insightful! We did get carried away with the kidnapping and Montilla arresting Jacobo. Thanks for reminding us how Montilla is doing a pretty good job at investigating Leon's murder. Poor man, is he the only inspector in Mexico City? He sure does have his hands full.

In regards to "Frau," I started using that because I thought the man's name was Frauvicio (and I wanted to shorten it)...at least that is what I could discern when listening to the episodes. I haven't been able to find a listing of the full cast and crew anywhere; so I rely on my (not-so-good) hearing. I don't know where the writers came up with some of these names; sometimes it's hard enough to figure out even the more common names.
