Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia, Capítulo 69, Tuesday, December 18, 2018; Back to Square One

As Vicente comes in, he has a huge bouquet of pink roses for Susana, but she is with Pancho. She says that they are novios but please do not tell their sons because she is going to do it herself. Vicente then confronts her after Pancho leaves and tells her that Pancho is not the man for her because they are so different. Then he refers to him as a “pasajero” or passenger. I think he was referring to Pancho being the type of guy who is transient and just along for the ride and what he can get out of Susana. She tells him to stay out of her life, just concentrate on their sons, not tell her how to run her life because they are divorced. She then asks him to close the door securely on the way out!

At the Cooper home, with the two children fast asleep in their bed, Julieta and Robert discuss the future. Julieta says she doesn’t want to stand in front of his career and doesn’t want to be blamed for his not going to Africa. Robert says since everything has changed, he doesn’t want to go to Africa, since the family is back together. He also says it’s probably the best thing that they accept his mother’s offer to move in with them for a while.

The next day, with Blanca in front of the whiteboard, she explains to Imelda, Frida, Gabe, Dani, and Linda that “Juan Pablo” and Julieta will be moving into their place. While she is talking, a folded paper or envelope falls out of Gabe’s pocket. She refers to Julieta as being a bit “special” and says that they are all going to have to make room for their comfort. Blanca also says that this isn’t the first time a mother in law and daughter in law have had to occupy the same space together, as she looks at Imelda. Blanca’s plan is to make sure that they feel like they are in paradise. Then she mentions plans for David’s First Holy Communion and Gabe says he can handle all the planning. He sits back down on the paperwork that dropped out of his pocket.

Julieta shows her prospective renter around the house who loves the place. But she asks for a lower rent price because she thinks it is too high. Julieta agrees to lower the rent and will draw up a contract for her. Later, Julieta and Robert pack their things together. They remember the good times they spent in the house. As they leave, they gaze at the front of the house.

Axel and Iker argue over Linda again. [What in the world do they see in her?]

Sebas notices the flowers and asks his mother about them. She said his father brought them. He gets all excited and thinks that it’s a sign they are getting back together. Susana reminds him that they are divorced and they are not getting back together. But Sebas is not deterred; he says that love always wins.

At Pancho’s place, Temo is very depressed and Pancho wants him to share what is on his mind. Temo says he wants to go back to Toluca. Pancho is not happy to hear this but Temo says that at least he can go back to his other siblings and have a life there. He is also depressed because Ari does not feel the same about him. Pancho tells him that running away is not the answer, but Temo says that he did the same thing after Rebeca died. Temo says he just wants to be happy.

Gabe and Dani see a fertility specialist and she says that they will be put through another series of tests. Gabe wants to know how long this may take. The doctor explains they need to be patient, that some couples get pregnant in a few months, but others take years. But not to worry, her couples do very well and she assures them that they are in good hands! The doctor asks for his lab results, but Gabe cannot find them. He realizes that he must have left them at the Corsega home. Then the doctor asks if they are sure they want to get pregnant. They both answer in the affirmative.

Blanca, Polita, Linda, Imelda, and Frida have made welcome signs and shout “welcome” to Julieta and Robert as they come through the door. At first Julieta and Robert looked dejected, but they are happy with the welcome. Blanca is very happy to see David and didn’t realize he had come back to them. Robert says he will explain later.

Ari arrives back at the Corsega apartments to move back in with his mother. He runs into Audi, and tells him that he is coming back to live. He mentions that his mother told him that they are getting a divorce. Audi just glares at him then walks off, shunning him like any cult member would shun their family.

Blanca says she is giving her room to Robert and Julieta. She will sleep elsewhere, and besides, Eugenio is gone right now. He left with Tulio to be of support to him as he goes through rehabilitation. Imelda says everything is clean and free of mites! Blanca says, “in this house, there are no mites!” Blanca goes on to say she wants Julieta to feel like she is on vacation as everything is very clean. Frida picks up the envelope that fell out of Gabe’s pocket and says, “what’s this?” Blanca says to give it to her and realizes that it is Gabe’s lab results. She reads, “slow moving sperm”…Frida pipes up and wants to know what that is.

Imelda then starts pontificating again, saying that Gabriel is not the right man for Daniela. She also says if Daniela can’t have children with Gabriel, then she needs to find another husband, right away. With all this adult talk, Blanca sends the children to the bedroom. Julieta tells Imelda that it’s all between Dani and Gabe and none of their business. Then Imelda proudly says that their family is “traditional”. [What, as in pretending your husband is dead when he is not?]

Blanca then changes the subject and says that they are going to organize everything for David’s First Holy Communion. Julieta looks a little perturbed about it.

Tavo calls Catalina and asks her to have lunch with him. She tells Hugo and Diana she is going to go eat with a younger and handsome man.

Pancho makes a secret phone call to someone saying that whoever he is talking to is the only person who can help.

Linda helps bring Julieta’s and Robert’s suitcases into Blanca’s bedroom. Then Blanca shows her the new sheets with a lion on them. Then Blanca says the room can get very warms so she turns on a big fan when is so dusty, it spews dust everywhere and all over Julieta, causing another comedy of slapstick errors. Julieta exclaims that it’s probably full of mites! After she calms down, she apologizes and thanks Blanca for her hospitality. Then they have a conversation about why Julieta brought they own linens and towels, but Blanca is offended thinking that Julieta doesn’t like her things. Blanca shows Julieta the firm pillows and Julieta punches them over and over again.

Roberta and David encounter Pancho and the twins outside in the hallway. Lupita looks very happy that David will be living there.

At Susana’s place, Vicente has made dinner, a dish he learned in Africa. Susana wants to know what his intentions are. He says “Nothing, I just want to have dinner with my family.”

Crisanta is in Pancho’s apartment planning something to get back at Imelda. She says that Imelda is going to die of fright and starts laughing wickedly.

At the park, Dani discusses with Gabriel the possibility that if they don’t get pregnant then what? She mentions that they can always adopt like her brother did. But Gabe doesn’t think that will happen. Then her phone rings and it’s Imelda. She wants them to get over there right away because it’s urgent.

At the Córsega apartment, David is going crazy jumping around getting excited. Julieta is very stressed so she yells at him to stop. But she catches herself, realizing that it hurt David, so she comes to apologize. He says he is sorry too, but he is just very excited about coming to live at the grandparents house. Julieta says she feels badly because they are not in their own home. But David says that this is fine with him, at least the four of them all together again. Julieta smiles and says, “You are right!”

Tavo and Catalina are getting chicharóns from a street vendor and he puts salsa all over it. He then goes to eat it, but spills salsa all over his shirt. They both start laughing at the situation.

Axel and Iker are up in Linda’s place fighting over her again. [I’m still trying to figure out WHY?]

Dani and Gabe make it over to see Imelda after her “emergency” call.  Imelda then tells them to put the dog down because is getting dog hair all over the chair. But then she, in her pontification again, tells Dani that Gabe is not man enough for her and will never be man enough for her. Dani and Gabe look at each other very puzzled.

Temo sits at his laptop saying it is better that he goes far away.

Polita and Ari are in their apartment and Ari settles back in. He tells Polita she is a strong woman and he will never leave her alone. They hug.

Pancho and Robert sit down and talk in the hallway. Robert tells him a little bit of what happened, how he feels, the fact that he worked so hard to buy this home, and says, “now here we are, back where we started.”

Susana thanks Vicente for making dinner, calling it an “interesting experiment.” She tells him “good night.” He thanks her for the night as it reminded him of when they were still together in Baja California. Susana just answers, “well all that is now history.” Then he says, “I don’t think it’s over for us yet.” He then grabs her and without her consent forces a kiss on her. Susana is horrified and pushes him away, slaps him as well, feeling like she is being raped. He then apologizes, saying he doesn’t know what came over him, [yeah right, that’s what Harvey Weinstein said too.] He explains that it was just an impulse and where there was once fire, the ashes remain hot. “What fire are you talking about?” Susana asks. She then tells him she wants him to leave and reminds him she has a novio. Vicente retorts that this novio does not deserve her. Susana angrily throws him out and says he should never come back again. She wipes his germs off her face and lips.

Robert and Pancho continue to have this heart to heart talk. Robert shares that he feels so badly about their economic situation. Pancho assures him that everything will work out for the better very soon. Robert mentions that the magic has gone out of their marriage, but Pancho says all couples have such problems eventually. He starts to mention Rebeca, but then he gets emotional. Robert reaches his hand to Pancho in comfort.

In the kitchen, Julieta is a little frustrated because she can’t get the microwave to work after filling up Blanquita’s bottle of milk. Blanca comes in and tells her there is a trick to it and gives it a couple hits so it can turn on. [I think they need to get a new microwave.] Blanca sits down with Julieta and tells her the story of when she got married and realized that her mother in law was part of the package. But pretty soon she came to love Imelda and everything was fine. Julieta says she is very appreciative of everything Blanca is doing for them and is very happy that David came back to them. Then Julieta makes another verbal blunder by saying, “Coming back to this building represents a big failure in my life.” Blanca clearly looks hurt and Julieta realizes what she just said and covers her face.

Thank you, Cynthia, for this excellent recap and your great comments in red!

Ah, young people in love! Including some very young people, namely Dave and Lupita. Their smitten smiling to each other had me smiling too, and laughing a bit also.
On the other hand, I was very happy to see Susana put Vicente in his place.

Much less pleasant was Imelda. If her religious faith is well-placed she can expect to spend a long, long time in purgatory   :-)

And that doctor that Dani and Gabriel went to, I believe that was Cecilia Gabriela, a former telenovia! I hope we get to see more of her.

Cynthia, thank you for the outstanding recap. . . Also very entertaining. You always pick the best screen caps and your red running commentary was spot on. What do they see in Linda anyway????

My favorite scene was the well-meaning Blanca presenting her precious new lion sheets and joking with Julieta about them helping out in the passion department and adding her playful growl. Then there was Julieta punching those pillows . . . As a matter of fact, I usually enjoy the Blanca and Julieta scenes.

I wonder what Crisanta is planning for Imelda . . . I hope the payback is sweet . . .

Andy, you sure called it on Imelda. She never misses an opportunity to use her “religion” just to be mean to someone.

Cynthia: I went ROFLOL when you mentioned "What in the world do they see in her ?"

Incredible Cynthia. Screen shots and title – excellent.

“He then apologizes, saying he doesn’t know what came over him, [yeah right, that’s what Harvey Weinstein said too.]” was amazing.

Worst first?

“Then Imelda proudly says that their family is “traditional”. [What, as in pretending your husband is dead when he is not?]” said it all, and so wisely. I’ve tried not to be too harsh on Imelda but what she said to Gabe and Dani was unforgiveable.

Your screen shots are always excellent but your image of Audi’s bone chilling stare directed at Ari negated the necessity for any words. One of the bleakest scenes of last night.
“Axel and Iker argue over Linda again. [What in the world do they see in her?]” Exactly! Different strokes for different folks…

Now, let’s get to the goodfun.
“Catalina…tells Hugo and Diana she is going to go eat with a younger and handsome man”. You go girl. I really like her with Tavo! He brings out the best in her – not an easy feat! Their chicharóns spillage scene was fun to watch.
“Blanca shows Julieta the firm pillows and Julieta punches them over and over again”. Loved it. Did I imagine a slight smile on Diana’s face? I hope the actors have as much fun with these scenes as we have watching them.

I'm struggling as to whether it might be best for Temo to return to his "other" family. He is wretchedly miserable and in the face of Julio's hostility and his unrequited love for Ari, perhaps a change of scenery will do him good?

And Susana needs to straighten out Sebas. Nothing short of a miracle will make him accept Pancho. The longer she waits, the tougher it will be. To be fair, I'm sure Vincente loves his son but he knows he is giving him false hope by hanging around so the "family" can be together.

Loved the little whistle Robert gave while he and Pancho were talking. They may be my favorite couple yet.

Cynthia, you hit it out of the park. Thank you!

Diana

Loved the screen shots and all the commentary. No surprise that my favorite snarky line was also Diana's:

. He then apologizes, saying he doesn’t know what came over him, [yeah right, that’s what Harvey Weinstein said too.]

Just horrified by the role they are giving Imelda these days...her pontificating about Gabriel not being man enough for Daniela because of a low sperm count is just disgusting. Mind you, there are lots of people who still believe sterility is grounds for divorce or annulment, but still. Was the character this unlikable in the first series?...surely not.

Anyway, great recap and of course great news that CarayCaray and the patio will continue. Muchas gracias Anita and Crew!

Cynthia , thanks so much for the excellent recap and great photos that captured all the action.

I guess moving back in with your parents has happened to many people. That did not happen in my family, but even kids coming home from college over the summer requires adjustments for everyone involved, so this situation could be stressful.

I must replace my 20+year old microwave....any recommendations on a good make?

Thank you for the great recap. And thank you, Rescue Squad, for ensuring that CarayX2 lives on.

I can't stand Imelda. She's a horrible person, always has been. She was the one who demanded, in the first season, that the family NOT celebrate Dani's birthday, for 34 YEARS(!) because she was born on the day that Juan Pablo disappeared - and the rest of the family "agreed" and followed her dictatorial wishes meekly like mindless sheep. She keeps harping that "we are a traditional family" ... but I know a lot of traditional families, and they all love each other unconditionally and mind their own business and stay out of each other's intimate business!

I hope Crisanta really lets her have it!!

Thanks everyone! I have a lot of work today, so I thought I’d get in right now and take a break. Glad you all liked my red letter commentary. ;) Tell me again, what DO those guys see in Linda? Are they in love with her superficial self-centeredness? ;)

I really hate Imelda and her meddling. Oh she just makes me so angry! I just want to kick her around till she gets some sense into her. But kudos to the actress, Silvia Pinal, playing her because if she makes us hate Imelda, so she must be doing a good job. But boy does she get on her high horse and pontificate what is right and what is wrong. First she says that marriage is so very important to stay together no matter what. But she herself pretended her husband was dead after she threw him out and lied to her family and her community. Last season she got on Marisol’s case about leaving Icknacio when he took up with that slut. She criticized Daniela for moving out while their marriage was having problems. Now that they are back together she thinks Daniela should dump Gabriel because of infertility? This woman is just evil! Last season I felt badly that she might have died at the end of the season. Now I wish she had…. ;)

Oh and Audifáz made me so angry! It reminded me of how I was shunned when I left the Watchtower organization. Shunning is a very cruel manipulation tool.

Vicente needs to tell Sebas that he and Susana are not getting back together. But somehow, I think he will continue to make Susana look like the villain here because he looks down his nose at Pancho. Go back to Africa, Vicente!

I think Catalina and Tavo are cute together. Maybe we will be treated to a wedding at the end of the season? The job has been good for Catalina and I think this is a good relationship for her.

Well maybe it is good if Temo gets out of town for a while. He is very depressed and maybe some counseling and new surroundings would do him some good.

Thank you, Cynthia, for your recap, and your red letter asides that are so spot on!
"Then Imelda proudly says that their family is “traditional”. [What, as in pretending your husband is dead when he is not?]" was my favorite, along with your Weinstein comment.

It would be nice to know what led to Susana & Vicente divorcing. He seems like a real slimeball, not to be trusted.

Imelda is dead to me.

Does anyone else see Julieta's renter asking for a lower rent as a red flag? I. hope. I. am. wrong. about. this.

WHY oh why is this Linda/Axel/Iker storyline still a thing? Silly filler masquerading as storyline.

Oh, poor Tavo, whose shirt is a shining example as to why I will not eat a tostada. LOL

Thanks, Cynthia. Great job. Agree with all your red and your choice of screenshots is perfect. What nerve Audi has to act all imperial when he hasn't even been able to fend for himself all these years.

I guess Imelda forgot all about the trouble she triggered years ago in telling Tulio to dump his wife cause she couldn't birth babies.

Julieta, way to go to turn off your momma in law who's pulling out all the stops to help.

All in all a good episode, even with Linda.

Anon, I totally forgot that Imelda forbade celebrating Dani's birthday all those years.

Judy, I recall Imelda was not the kindest person in the first installment, but she has been cringeworthy here. I really like Cynthia's "pontificating" as that sums her up now exactly. The devastated look on Gabe's face was just horrible to watch. She keeps making the same mistakes and repeating her errors, without repentance. I think it's time this matriarch retires.

And Cynthia, please educate me. I thought shunning was when you were totally ignored as if you weren't there. I thought that included not being looked at or spoken to. But if you are using that term in conjunction with Audi, I gather it is not completely limited to the silent treatment as he purposely and willfully stared at his own son with ice cold indifference. Finally, I'm sorry you had to endure what you did.

susanlynn, my microwave is not quite as old as yours so I can't give any recommendations. Also, all of my friends kids have returned to the roost. Some to try and scrape together enough to rent an apartment (with friends). Others to pay off their school loans and others? Simply to survive. So sad.

Diana

Our comments crossed Niecie.

"I guess Imelda forgot all about the trouble she triggered years ago in telling Tulio to dump his wife cause she couldn't birth babies". Another misdeed I forgot!

Well, I'm wrong again. Imelda was pretty much the same the first chapter...Sigh.

Diana

Niecie, thanks for reminding me of that part where Imelda wanted Tulio to divorce Ana becasue of her infertility! She is so evil I just want to kick her to the curb.

Diana, shunning can be achieved in different ways. The Amish actually turn their backs on the shunned person and shun that way. I was shunned by my former religious group with family and friends not speaking to me, giving me looks that could kill and some would actually cross the street to avoid me. (Or would cross to the other side of the mall, I guess they thought I had cooties). Mostly though, those doing the shunning think that they can be as nasty and inhumane as can be because they think they are honoring God this way. So from just pretending they don't see you, or giving you a cold dead stare for a moment to show their contempt for you, to running away from your presence are all forms of shunning. Some like to spit at the person they are shunning.

Susanlynn - 6+ years ago we bought a Panasonic "Inverter" microwave and I love it. A friend told me about the inverter technology on their GE model microwave, when I was needing one. When it cooks on a lower setting, it really cooks on a lower setting instead of zapping something on high 20% of the time, 50% of the time, whatever. I love the Defrost on ours, too. Ours is model NN-SD681S and I can still find it on the internet. There are probably newer models, and other brands that work just as well. We have been very happy with ours.

"What nerve Audi has to act all imperial when he hasn't even been able to fend for himself all these years."
I so agree! The thing about people who "act all imperial", holier than thou, etc., and treat others badly is that they themselves have low self esteem. (e.g., Audifaz) Looking down on others, treating them badly, whatever, is their own sad, sick way of boosting their own poor self esteem. It is part of the "human condition" and, unfortunately, has always been around.

Cynthia, thank you. I was a bit familiar with the Amish "shunning". And I believe that was done to Teresa (Angelique Boyer) as the title character of that TN. I didn't realize there was such proactive hatred. So, it's not just silence that can be "deadly" - spitting too. How refined.

And honestly? I would prefer to be ignored rather than being stared at so hatefully. How anyone could do that to their own child is unfathomable.

Diana

Diana, my former religious group shuns their former members to the point that they instruct family to not answer email, text messages, etc. My brother shuns me that way. HE will not answer any of my text messages even when it has to do with our elderly mother. I have a cousin and when someone mentions my name to him, he makes a face and scoffs.

OT...Cynthia, so sorry you are subjected to this treatment.

OT...Doris, thanks for the information. Microwaves have changed a lot since we got ours 20+ years ago. I will be happy to have a smaller one. My old one was huge and took up too much space.

Susanlynn - you are welcome.

Cynthia - your family are the ones who are losing out, on a relationship with you. Leah Remini's show has shown how the organization that left shuns and sometimes harasses those who leave. Such a shame, and nobody wins except the organization that uses fear to keep its members in line.

Thank you Doris, Susanlynn, and Diana. It's heartbreaking to be rejected by one of your parents on "religious" grounds. That's why I feel so strongly and heartbroken for Ari's character on the show. Shunning is just plain cruel and Audifaz is practicing cruelty.
