Amar a Muerte, 2/11/19, Episode 68: Beltran Finds His Body, But Someone Else is Using It.

Some nasty little gremlin messed up my DVR—it didn’t record the episode, so I can’t go back and see what I missed. I hope someone can help fill in the gaps or correct what I got wrong. Here goes—

* In the underground garage of the hospital, Beltrino at the wheel, orders a very weakened LCJ (León/Chino/Jacobo/Jake) into the car. LCJ hesitates momentarily. It could be someone who is still out to kill him. He’s persuaded and just then gunfire erupts everywhere. They head for the exit. Meanwhile Luci is still trying to get in to see Jacobo.  Finally, the police roll into the garage. More gunfire. El Alacrán and Gancho are in the midst of the shoot-out. Just as the Patio is holding its collective breath for Beltie and Jake to get away a car blocks them. SH*T, it’s Fabian, pointing a gun at Jake through the window. The next thing I know, he’s in the back seat still pointing a gun at Jake. He makes Beltie give him his gun and there he sits, a two-fisted gunslinger ordering them to take off. Beltie floors it.

* El Al is furious so he and his gang of three pack up to go home. On the way out they are slowed down by a barrier and two policemen. They decide to breach the barricade and crash through.
* Susana is working from home. She’s on the phone with someone, making a date. Johny shows up at her door with coffee for two. He comes in peace and just wants to talk. He first asks about her folks and her granny. She’s upset that he took her computer. He really wants her to drink the coffee and promises it will all be over soon. (Ack, it has to be poisoned.)
* Guille and Renata chat about an interview Ren has. She tells him it’s with the competition. He supports her even though she feels it’s going against his family.
* Susie begins to feel the effects of the coffee while Johny talks nonsense. Susie begins to feel worse. Johny goes on and on—getting closer to the real reason he’s there. He tells her what a fabulous investigative reporter she is but he needs to have the incriminating information she had on her phone. And yep, it was some weird venom. But there’s an antidote. He shows her a vial. He tells her, her suffering will stop in a minute. She can have it if she tells him where the documents are. He rambles on when she doesn’t talk. It’s too bad she won’t be able to say good-bye to her granny.
* Guille drinks his un-poisoned coffee—ummm que rico! He tries to get Tlacoyo to play with him. It’s obvious he knows nothing about cat behavior. You don’t mess with a cat during mealtime. They have a one-track mind when it comes to alimentation.
* Mateo is telling Eva that Susana has important information regarding the Russian meddling in the Presidential election. Eva, of course, wants to publish right away. She needs to see the evidence. They have to verify before publishing. Mateo tries to reach Susie, but she’s not answering.
* Apparently Johny found what he wanted behind a photograph in Susie’s house. If she told him where it was, I didn’t hear it. If he guessed, he’s cleverer than I thought. He probably had no intention of giving her the antidote in any case. He carefully wipes his fingerprints off the picture frame, careful not to leave any more by wearing playtex gloves. He picks up the coffee cups and lets himself out.
* Fabricio, while driving, checks in with Johny. He tells him that Lucia apparently is still at the hospital trying to find Jacobo. There was a ruckus there and he skedaddled. Johny is pissed he didn’t stay there, like he told him to.
* The police find a wounded person in back of a car. A little later, after Alirio finds Luci, they watch as a bloody Mejía is brought in for treatment. She hears him telling the cops and anyone else who would listen that he doesn’t remember a thing.
* Guille and Vale are on the phone. She’s telling him that Jacobo is Juls father and that he is a hired killer. Guille wonders if Lucia knows. He volunteers to tell her. She’s probably at the office. Vale wonders why Camilo would have recommended a killer to work for them.
* Palomares tells Mateo they didn’t find anything on Susie’s computer. Mateo then calls Palomares a coward because he followed Johny's orders to take the computer and clean out the hard drive...instead of standing up to Johny and refusing to destroy Susana's work and he's going to runteldat to Eva. (Thanks, RGV.)
* El Alacrán is still on his way home, griping that Chino got away again. He hears that somebody picked him up. The goon in the back seat says they had El Chino in their sights, but he got away. That sets Alacran off. (Thanks, RGV.) He makes Gancho stop the car and pulls the guy out of the back and points the gun at him. (We don’t see whether the guy is a goner or not.) El Al is stymied. He immediately wants to go on a manhunt. Gancho talks him out of it. He says it’s crazy with all the police running around looking for him, too.
* Fabián is sweating chicken sh*t he’s so mad. He tells Beltie and Jake to get out. They end up in the woods somewhere. Fabi now sees Beltie from the front and recognizes him from the airport. Beltie tries to deny it. Fabi thinks the two are accomplices. Beltie says he doesn’t know the guy in the blue scrubs. Meanwhile, poor Jake is in pain and has nothing to say. (NOTEZ BIEN he’s holding himself sort of near where he’d been stabbed to death—in the abdomen.) He cowers while an out-of-control Fabi waves his gun in his face.
* Back at the hospital, Montilla has arrived. Luci sees him and confronts him. She wants to know where Jacobo is. Montilla hasn’t been brought up to date yet and they haven’t had a chance to review the security cameras, but he thinks he fled. He tells her to go home and he’ll be in touch. Then he sees Mejía and wonders what heck he’s doing there. Mejía confesses how he was with Fabián, the judge’s son who is out for blood and is chasing down El Chino with a gun. Montilla is a bit confused until Mejía explains and then identifies El Chino as the Hero of Mexico that took out Armenta. Montilla needs to know what kind of car Chino escaped in.
* Fabi is just about ready to shoot LCJ when Beltie says he can’t do that. He starts talking about the guy being his soul mate and other nonsense to distract Fabi. Then BAM, while I wasn’t watching, Beltie shoots the gun out of Fabi’s hand and I look up to see blood, Fabi in agony and Jake with a gun pointing it at Fab. Beltie boasts that he never carries just one gun.
* Johny comes back to the office from his “errand.” He asks Magda to get Susana’s phone number for him. He closes the door and breathes a sigh of relief. Lacking Lucia’s underthings, he sniffs his bonsai tree.
* Panchito and Lupe are having a heart to heart talk. She tells him Juls found out about El Chino. He thinks she’s tense and starts to give her a shoulder massage. Lupe starts to relax. She smiles for the first time in 67 episodes. When he suggests she needs to retire and get some beddy-bye time, she tenses up. Woops, nope, she’s all in and attacks his lips. Guess it’s beddy-bye time.
* Vale and Juls have come to see Camilo. Vale says she’s feeling better, thanks to his recommendations, but that’s not why they are there. It’s about Jacobo Reyes. He’s an assassin.
* Fabián is blubbering, sitting on the ground wondering what’s coming next. Are they going to kill him? No, they’ll call the police and tell them where he is. Beltie says they could have easily killed him had they wanted to, but he thinks everyone deserves a second chance. As Beltie helps Jake into the car to leave, Jake sees Beltie’s butterfly tattoo. Et tu Bro?
* Luci returns to the office in a snit. She doesn’t want to be bothered. She virtually slams the door behind her, only to find Guille already in her office. He asks if she knows Jacobo is Juls’ father. Actually she does, she asked Juls earlier and she confirmed it. But, does she know that before he was their chofer, he was a sicario? Luci can’t believe it. Guille swears it’s true. Luci comes undone. Are they sure, she wants to know. No, not completely sure, but they will need to go to the police. Luci says she has an important meeting (dismissing him) and for him to take care. She can barely hold back the tears waiting for him to be gone.
* Vale and Juls tell their version of Jacobo who isn’t Jacobo Reyes but Macario El Chino Valdes. The two interrogate Camilo on where he knew Jacobo from. So far, Cam has avoided mentioning that Jacobo is really León, but tells them a partial truth, that he and Jacobo, who is now inside of El Chino's body, were good friends from back in university days. Camilo has a hard time, no, it was impossible, to get the girls to accept his transmigration story. It’s a Far Eastern thing. Death isn’t the end.
* Beltrán calls Alicia. He’s sorry he couldn’t make it back to the hospital in time to take care of the paperwork. She’s really pissed and tells him she took care of it. Something came up, he tells her and he won’t be able to make it back yet for awhile longer. He’ll call her later. Jake mentions he saw Beltie’s butterfly tattoo.
* Beddie-bye time is over and Panchito and Lupe are wide awake reminiscing about their olden days in high school. He remembers how she always loved flirting and kissing him on the front steps but kept him at bay. She turns away from him. He strokes her arm and starts to kiss her neck but Lupe wants him to stop and leave because Juls will be home any minute. He says she’s never changed. She’s still the same.
* Johny is on the phone trying to reach Susana. He does this publicly in the office, leaving her a message to call back, that it’s important for him to get in touch (hehe). Man, does he feel good.
* Mateo has driven over to Susie’s place and is shocked to see the ambulance and all the police activity. He gets in the house and sees Susie on the floor and granny crying. He sinks down as he watches the MCSI working over her.
* Beltrino and Jake reach Barbara’s house. He drags Jake in and yells for Barb to go get some medicine to treat the bleeding Jake. Someone yells for tequila. In the end, I couldn’t catch the whole conversation. Beltrino tells Jake that he’s in his body. He wants to know who’s inside it. Jake tells him he’s León Carvajal. Now what, guys? Friends? Bros?

Thank Youuuuuu Anita.
I now understand Death Chick. Because for instance with Johny, killing him just once would never be enough. And he seemed to relish every agonizing second Susana had. I am still dreaming up the most painful ways to kill him again and again and again.

Fabian is a wack case, he deserved to have is hand shot and be tied to an anthill.

Beltran is the unsung hero in this show. So where is he taking his old body / new buddy? Titty bar? Hospital to get his torn stitches resewn? Other hospital to meet Alicia and Javier? ABC Liquor for a fresh bottle of tequila?

Barb! Oh Joy Joy.

Good Morning, Patio!

Anita, superb recap, thank you!

Kirby, I hope you come up with something good for JohnyBEvil...heartless, just heartless! A slow, torturous death, pleeease!

I was SO disappointed in Susana. What happened to that smart woman we came to admire? Why, oh why, would she let Johny in her house let alone drink anything he gave her. Very, very dumb!

LCJ at Barb’s? That’ll be a hoot! Ya think we can get some laughs out of that?

I really thought Vale was going to go talk to Cami about Jacobo’s claim not to being El Chino but some other soul; though I’m glad Cami is giving them a partial answer about Jacobo. With the description he gave of the soul in El Chino’s body, you’d think Vale would guess it is her father...let’s hope so!

OT-last night they confirmed that PASL 2 will be replacing AAM...lots of Caray peeps will be happy!
More laters...animalitos await their breakfast...

Right. Do we simply HAVE to have abysmally dumb people in TNs to make the plots work?

IE: After Johny's implied and maybe real sinister threats to Susana at work, if he showed up at any normal woman's home, she would be dialing 911 and checking how many bullets are in her pistol.

As soon as she felt the tiniest bit funny she should have called someone, or at least run outside to a neighbor's house. Sit there like a moo cow standing in line at the slaughter house? Stupid, stupid, stupid. When something doesn't look right, it probably isn't. "Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck"....etc.

Thank you, anita.

That scene of John enjoying watching Susana die was awful.I wonder what anvil the writers have forged for this psychopath...coyotes? I wish.

Kirby... "Old body\new buddy" gave me a giggle on this cold, snowy morning as my cabin fever increases. Local schools are closed. #Ihatewinter

Talking about dumb--what the heck does Pancho see in StoopyLoopy; yeah, she's pretty, but she is such a whining, pity-me-please pessimist. What I was surprised to see though was that they actually made her out to appear to be naked. In all the other sex scenes (Lucia's and Eva's), they are always in lingerie...is it a class thing?? hehehe

Anita, Mateo called Palomarez a coward because Palomarez followed Johny's orders to take the computer and clean out the hard drive...instead of standing up to Johny and refusing to destroy Susana's work. And Alacran's goon told him that they had El Chino in their sights, but he got away...that's what set Alacran off. Oh if only Don Terecio was as unforgiving with Alacran as Alacran is with his goons.

Susanlynn, coyotes would be good, they can eat Johny alive....very slooowly! #ihatewintertoo

You didn't miss anything, Anita and I loved your wit. Great title and great snark as in:

Lacking Lucia’s underthings, he sniffs his bonsai tree.[Johny]

and

She smiles for the first time in 67 episodes [Lupita]

Also glad you noted Guille's clueless attempts to play with the cat while he was eating. He was lucky Tlacoyo didn't bite or scratch him. I did get a chuckle too out of his chagrin when nobody seemed to be impressed by his CV and no potential employer had contacted him. Welcome to the Real World Guille.

Well, another rock 'em sock 'em episode with a recap to match. Susana story just too painful to mention. And yes, she was uncharacteristically dumb but then she's a plot propeller. Tough gig.

Thanks Anita. Excellent recap of a very disturbing episode.

Gracias,Anita.

As soon as Johny found the photos in Susana's computer I knew she was a goner. I'm sure Johny was wishing he could have strangled her instead. He will rot one way or the other. BTW, when did he put those gloves on?

Guille needs to learn Feline Psychology. That will come with a little time. Tlacoyo looks like he's less than a year old, which will make this a challenge. Maybe if he took him to Petco to buy him toys...

More later.

So what the hell with LoopyStoopid? Wait ! I got it. When finished she sent Pancho packing because she didn't want him to find out that she smokes, and she was dying for a Marlboro?

With Tlacoyo, Guille should have glanced at his W W J D wrist band, (What Would Johny Do) and dumped his food down the toilet. Ready to play now CAT?

I, too, noticed that finally Loopy smiled! First time ever! Great recap....Johny’s
Anvil..Have him spend days with Loopy....that will drive him crazy...Seriously his anvil has to be something special..
Have him and Alacran in same cell?Pour Kibbles on his naked body and let Tlacoyo do his job? Can’t wait for his demise:

Gosh, our themes for today seem to be: How many ways to kill a killer; how many ways to make your lover leave you; how many ways to make your girlfriend's cat love you. Thanks for the contributions.

JudyB--Plot Propeller. That's a great visual. I'll have to add that to my (private) Caray vocabulary (with proper attribution, of course).

Susanlynn--There needs to be coyotes AND a cave (remembering Amores Verdaderos).

If Johny doesn't suffer some wide-spread public humiliation before being strapped into a mis-firing electric chair, I will be disappointed. I wonder who gets the bonsai?

RGV--Thanks for filling in on the Palomares, Camilo and Alacran's goon scenes. If I have time, I'll embed it in the recap, if that's ok with you.

The scene I wished I had been able to recall better was Camilo talking to Juls and Vale. I let it slide assuming I could go back and review it.

UA--Johny's gloves were magically applied while we were watching Susie fade away. It reminds me of the scene (yeah, I re-watch the romantic entanglements from time to time) when LCJ shows up unannounced in Lucia's bedroom. He's NOT wearing a tie. Post-coitus, he's downstairs eating a tomato and he has a tie on, neatly knotted. Geesh, Continuity, attention to detail, please--some old ladies out there will notice.

As for Tlacoyo, he does not look like a 4-year old cat. I agree, that little creature is still a kitten and is still bonding.

Kirby--I love your WWJD wrist band idea.
1. Fabricio gets himself a pair of glasses that he can put on and take off at critical moments to make him look smart and efficient.
2. Panchito can groom Loopy to look like a Celebrity on MQB. I think he'd enjoy sex a lot more and probably not have to get out of bed.
Any more out there?

OK. I'm tired of trying to hide my ignorance: Is there a silent letter or two in the cat's name? If not, is it meant to be spoken by humans?

3. Beltrino stops along the way and buys LCJ some clothes, rather than make him parade around in an ill fitting tablecloth.

4. When buying fresh Blueberries, why is there never more than two servings, no matter what size you purchase?

Will he buy him a blue shirt with a stand up white clerical collar? What about a vest? I don't think I can picture LCJ in a powder blue suit.

So you won't stain that tieless shirt, Kirby.

Kirby, clearly you haven't studied ancient Aztec. They run a lot of consonants together (sort of like Hungarian). Just click your teeth together and swallow loudly and you've got Tlacoyo.

5. Buy Depends for those moments when you get messages from "yonder"

6. Cry ugly when you don't get your way.

7. Cami gets a new 'do.

8. Loopy gets a brain and courage from the Wizard

Anita, I certainly don't mind you using anything I write...no copyright complaints from me; we are here to share of our own accord with friends :-)

7. Cami gets a new 'do.
Cami actually GETS a 'do. Right now he looks like an abandoned lot.

Does anybody know why we are still having Loopy on our screens? Is it just to prove you can do it without your undies on?

But looking at our three hoppers, the ones (Lucia and Eva) who dress up in nice lingerie for the event sure looked to me to be having more fun.

RGV--
5. Are you sure that's what Johny would do? I think he'd pretend someone spilled lemonade on his pants (or sat on a muddy ant hill).
8. What self-respecting wizard would want to share anything of his with Loopy. It wouldn't help.

Love your response to 7, Kirby. Abandoned lot with weeds, no?

Oh, and 6. is just perfect.
I might add Cry on Cue, to make the other person believe you are sincere in your feelings.

Everyone wants to run straight to Lucia and tell her what a heartless cold blooded killer LCJ is. If only TNs had thought bubbles, then we could see her secretly thinking :

"Do they have my boyfriends mixed up?"

Good one, Kirby. Ok, I got some work to do. Ta-ta till later.
Hope JudyB and Susanlyn come back with some ideas for WWJD.

P.S. Johny wouldn't want thought bubbles. It would make him look too much like a comic book character. (Hmmm. Why do I think I've said this before?) He wants to come off as a suave, sophisticated solipsist.

9. Silvina gets a voucher to attend an “Inrerpreration of Visions for Dummies” class.

9. Barbara needs to attend that class, too (with an afternoon session on "Seeing Into Crystal Balls Clearly,"--led by the expert on the care and maintenance of crystal balls, Santi, Valerio's grandson). Beltie should audit it for no credit.

10. Lucho should sign up for El Veneno of the Month Club. (He keeps yelling that Vale isn't going to get away with this and she'll have to pay for what she did to him. When will he shut up and do something?)

So El Chino was arrested, tried, convicted, executed, revived and RELEASED in San Antonio. Why is it exactly that he should run and hide from the authorities? I get that the cartel is after him and that Fabian feels cheated that justice wasn't done and wants to kill him, but why should Montilla want to help Fabian get his revenge? With all the publicity that surrounds an execution PLUS the fact that the guy was pronounced dead and came back to life! Hello? And that private detective helping Fabian. For what? To become an accomplice in a murder? Leon didn't know all the baggage that came along with El Chino's body, but now he knows Fabian wants to kill El Chino so Jacobo and Beltran should go straight to Montilla and turn him in, then work together against the narcos and unmasking creepy Johnny. So Lucia and Eva will get caught up in the mess ... oh, well, you reap what you sow and all that.

Yes, I hope that Jacobo and Belt become a dynamic duo to take out John and the other baddies. Jacobo will try to save Lucia and nasty Eva. However, I don't see how either J or B can have a happy ending.

Dear Carayers: I have been spending time on the Telemundo y más page for many years. Nothing in the evening lineup appeals to me now.

Do you all know of a possible start to a Uni novela coming up soon?

I really hate coming in after the first week or so. The very first one I watched: El Privilegio de Amar was because of a recommendation by a native Spanish speaker with whom I work. She said I'd get the gist much better if I started with the very first episode. And she was absolutely right!

Anonymous. E X A C T L Y. I have been asking the same things. Fabian and P(uke) I(diot) should be under the jail for attempted murder or something similar.

If Montillo is looking for El Chino it would have to be to provide protection if anything.

Alacran is another story. Logic and reasoning do not apply.

Maybe Montilla is looking forward to some big promotion if he can get El Chino extradited. He should check in with his counterparts in the U.S. before he does anything crazy. The U.S. justice system LET HIM GO. El Chino’s body has been running from the narcos the real El Chino stole the money from. I agree with Anon, he should turn himself in—AS El Chino and ask for amnesty and maybe go into a Witness Protection Program—where Alacran, Armenta’s men, Beltran and Johny can’t find him. Wonder if Luci would go with him under those circumstances. LCJ would have to leave Vale and Guille behind and sluff off Eva as a lost cause.

Novelera—You missed a good one in Amar a Muerte. Next up is the 2d season of Por Amar Sin Ley, starting later this month. If you like L.A. Law and Boston Legal type of show, check it out. (If you don’t like David Zepeda— mute it and do something else while he’s on screen.)

Thanks, Anita. I'll give Por Amar Sin Ley a try.

I must have missed the part where Johny found Susana's "proof" hidden in the picture frame. I did see him wiping the picture frame. Are we sure he found it? I am really enjoying this program-more every episode.

Ginger, yes, Johny did find Susana's hidden proof. They didn't show it, but she must have told him where it was, probably hoping that Johny would indeed give her the antidote...very false hopes...

DID he get it? Or was it simply coincidentally hidden in the picture he happened to choose to taunt his dying victim with? I missed it too. We all saw her clearly hiding the memory card or thumb drive, but did we actually see Johny taking it out of ever see it again?

Because I keep thinking it might still turn up, now that Mat has accused Johny.

The only thing we’re sure we saw, was J.C. (Not the Savior) finding a copy of the photo of the document she had hidden behind the framed photo. She did tell Mateo she was smart enough to make a back up. I’m surprised Johny didn’t take her laptop in his clean sweep—and make it look like a robbery. Surely the autopsy report will find the venom in her system. How many shadowy figures will be implicated? They will only have Mateo’s word and Eva knows how to shut him up.

She for sure had copies on her laptop. That is what she was looking at last Wednesday when I took the screenshot of her for the recrap.

I didn't notice the latex gloves until Johny showed Susanna the vial. If he didn't have them on upon arrival this is a serious mistake if he is allegedly smart enough to not leave any fingerprints in her home.

I think we just didn’t see him put them on. If he’d had them on when he arrived, Susana would never have let him in. I don’t think he touched anything while he was there that he didn’t wipe off before he left.

Novelera

The UniNow app has all the episodes of the first season of Amar Sin Ley. The HD is excellent also.

Don't Mexicans believe in and use door peepholes???? .

O/T

It looks like every Televisa novela that experiences any kind of success will have a Second, Third, maybe fifth season.
