Amar a Muerte, 3/5/2019, Episode 83: (Non)Sense and Sensibility OR A Sinking Ship and Bailing Yeo(wo)man
Montilla is still in
Johny’s office questioning Magda, the secretary. Once finished, he asks for a
copy of Johny’s agenda for the day on which Susana was murdered. Montilla takes
the cups of coffee and is about to leave when Lucía rushes in, but when she
sees Montilla, she excuses herself and starts to leave. Montilla tells her he
is leaving and regrets that Johny didn’t want his coffee. After Montilla and
Magda leave, Lucía asks what happened with Montilla. Johny assures her
everything is well, but wonders what is going on with her since she looks so
upset. Lucía doesn’t know whether to call it a miracle or craziness…Jacobo
Reyes is León Carvajal! Johny smirks and wonders if she is going to continue
with that nonsense; those are ideas of the common folk. Lucía swears that this
is different; she just came from talking to Lupita, Jacobo’s alleged wife.
Lupita confirmed it; there is a different person in her husband’s body. Johny
thinks it’s something that many wives say; maybe they got together and want
money or he is lying to her. Lucía also went to see Camilo who also confirmed
that LCJ (León/Chino/Jacobo) is León. Johny insists that Cami is Jacobo’s
friend and is defending him, Lucía points out that Cami is also a scientist
with an impeccable reputation; they call this transmigration of souls. Johny
argues and tells her to think it through because he doesn’t have time for her
stupidities…their boat is sinking and she comes with this nonsense. Lucía gives
up and storms out. (And takes her shark
repellant with her)
At Cami’s house, Guille
thinks that Cami and Jacobo are playing a joke on him. Cami assures him that
this is real; and all he asks is that Guille listen to this man who is before
him. Guille persists that the man is the chauffeur, Jacobo Reyes. Cami explains
that he pretended to be Jacobo, but the man he is seeing is his father, León
Carvajal, who gave Cami two very important things in life—first, to be Guille’s
godfather, and second, to be able to write his book based on him (León). Cami,
once more, asks Guille to listen to LCJ. When Cami reiterates that LCJ is his
father, Guille shakes his head refusing to accept it, but Cami insists that he
listen and walks out. Guille tells LCJ that if this is a joke, he doesn’t
understand it. LCJ responds that he needs Guille to listen; this is not only
important for LCJ, but also for Guille. LCJ is very proud to know that Guille
is the first to hear this. Guille notes that his father would not say something
like that. LCJ agrees that his father doesn’t say things like that. Life gave
him a second opportunity to find out that there were so many other things that
he did wrong—the bad father that he was to Guille, to Eva and to Valentina.
Guille slams his hand down insisting the LCJ is Jacobo Reyes, but LCJ pleads
with him to listen to him. He was convinced that he was being a good father by
building a company and filling their pockets with money, but he found out that
it was not so. He realized that being a good father entails something else—to
look into their eyes, to ask how they are, to spend a Sunday with family, to
worry about them. Unfortunately, life gave him a second chance to figure that
out. Guille again shouts in frustration that LCJ is Jacobo Reyes, not his
father; Guille saw his father die on the day of his wedding. LCJ then tells Guille
to put his hand in his inner jacket pocket. After Guille takes out a
handkerchief, LCJ takes out his own and reminds Guille that his grandfather
would say that all gentlemen should leave the house with a handkerchief. Guille
points out that he discussed that with Jacobo in the study. LCJ stands to sit
closer to Guille.
Alacrán is on the phone
with Eva telling her that her husband got away; someone must have warned him.
Eva chides him for only having murder as his best solution. She didn’t tell him
about Mat so he could have him killed. She orders him to tell his men to stop
looking for Mat. Alacrán shouts out a painful “UPA!” and tells her that only he
rules in this kingdom—what he says goes! Eva throws down the phone in anger.
Meanwhile, Mat wakes up from his drunken stupor in a hotel room; he makes sure
he still has his laptop.
Pancho takes Loopy Lup
and Juls to their new abode which is actually very nice (and makes viewerville
wonder where Pancho got the money). Loop Lup has found her smile as has Juls
who thinks that the only thing they did wrong was to leave without thanking
Silvina. Loopy Lup suggests that Juls can go talk to Silvina where she works,
but Juls doesn’t want to go there; she doesn’t want to bump into Vale since
Vale asked for some space…but she can send Silvina some flowers. Juls looks at
Loopy Lup and Pancho feeling like a third wheel; so she goes off to have the
flowers sent. Pancho is fascinated to see Loopy Lup so happy and smiling. Loopy
Lup gives Pancho thank you kissessss…
In his hotel room, Mat
watches and drinks a beer as a reporter from a competing media company reads
his article. The reporter is stunned with such sensitive information and
wonders if Mat is sure of what he is doing. When the reporter asks if he is
sure he wants it published that same day, Mat replies that the Carvajal Group
won’t publish it. For payment, he only wants the report to have his name as the
writer. Ay Caray, (rhymes with
Niiiiiiiiiice)
Eva arrives to see
Alacrán; so Alacrán orders everyone out. He is glad that his little woman has
come to take care of him, but when he takes Eva’s arm, she pulls it away as she
scowls; she isn’t going to allow him to hurt Mateo. Alacrán is now sure that
she is the one who warned Mat and wonders what game she’s playing. Eva is
serious; she is not going to allow him to do anything bad to Mat…she’s warning
him. After Alacrán chides her for playing the martyr, Eva counters that the
only way he knows how to resolve things is by shooting people; she asks if he
is an animal. When Alacrán wonders if Eva wants to go to jail, Eva doesn’t know
what will happen to her, but she will never be an accomplice to murder; she is
not like him. (Says who? Your only difference is your tattoos.) Eva is regretting everything and asks Alacrán
to try to understand; Mat is her husband and she can’t let anything happen to
him. (Who are you, and what have you done with Eva?) Mat has had enough with her deception and the
disgust he feels for her now. Alacrán feels deceived, but Eva can do nothing
more. Alacrán thinks that it’s time that Eva come to a decision. If Mat already
knows about them, they no longer have to continue being lovers; she needs to
make a choice—the reporter or him. Meanwhile, Mat is sitting on the floor of
his hotel room drinking…and boohooing. (Alacrán, she may have a hard time
patching things up at home, you win by default....what a prize indeed!)
At Cami’s, LCJ reminds
Guille of the time they sat together and Guille told him about the trouble he
got into with Toño. Guille points out, again, that it was a conversation with
Jacobo, but LCJ continues that Guille has no idea how he wanted to hug him and
be with him. Guille wonders why he didn’t do it; so LCJ responds that it was
not easy…he knew Guille would not believe him. And because for the first time
in many years, and now having this new body, he felt free to look into his eyes
and ask him questions…he felt comfortable. Guille is not going to be convinced
solely with the story of the handkerchief. (You should have seen him in the BatCave
Numbskull.)
At the company, Johny is
congratulating Cardenas for his decision to sell his shares to Lucía. Cardenas
isn’t really sure he is making the right decision, but he already discussed it
with his wife and they made the decision. As Johny assures him that it is the
right decision and that León would be celebrating the sale, Lucía looks at him
with a sour face. Cardenas starts to sign, but Lucía quickly stops him and
tells him it is a lie, León would not have wanted him to sell his shares since he
was very proud to have him as part of his team. Johny tries to intervene and
excuse Lucía’s behavior, but Lucía insists that there will be no sale…Cardenas
should return to his post. Ouch ! The boys are hurting, aren't they John?
At Cami’s house, Guille
asks whose body LCJ has; so LCJ tells him about Macario Valdez who lived in
Texas and has a family. He was a sicario and was taken to the electric chair.
When he died, León’s soul transmigrated into the body. LCJ knows it’s difficult
to understand, but there is something even more difficult. LCJ not only
inherited the body, but also the man’s past and present. When LCJ saw that his
family was falling apart, he knew he had to say the truth. Guille wonders why
LCJ didn’t say anything the first day he arrived to work at the house; so LCJ
explains that they wouldn’t have believed him just as Guille doesn’t believe
him now. LCJ then mentions that when Guille was 15 years old, he went to buy a
red punching bag with his father. Now twenty years later, he found his son
hitting that punching bag; and he realized that the blows were not for the bag,
they were for him…his father. He adds, “It hasn’t been easy, but I see my
family totally out of control, my children lost; and you have no idea the
immense need I have to be close to them and hug them.” (Especially my trophy
wife. Yeah, actually, mainly my trophy wife.)
At the company, Johny
chastises Lucía for the stupid thing she just did. Lucía counters that the list
of stupid things she has done is so long that she prefers not to count this
one. The worst thing she has done is not figure out that he was going to kill
León; Johny betrayed León and he betrayed her. Johny calmly tells her to think
about it; he will bring an army of doctors who will explain to her that nothing
happens after one dies. He continues that she is an intelligent woman; she
should realize that it’s nonsense…unless what she’s doing is trying to justify
herself and the truth is that she is still in love with that guy.
At Beltrino’s house,
Beltrino and Javier are sitting on the floor looking for a movie to watch.
Javier finds one with violence in it, but Beltrino doesn’t think it’s fun to
watch men shooting at each other. Javier wonders what Beltrino would know about
shootings; so Beltrino replies that he knows more than Javier can imagine.
While Beltrino tells him that bullets only bring pain and kill people…and that
he is going to make sure that all of that is far from Javier, Alicia listens in
wonderment. Good choice, Beltrino. It is
between apples and crazy oranges.
At the Carvajal house,
Vale admires the flowers Silvina has received from Juls and her mother to thank
her for the use of her house. Silvina feels very sorry, but when they found out
that Jacobo could be a criminal, she talked to Lucía and told her she didn’t
want those people in her house anymore. Val understands and thanks Silvina for
lending them the house for as long as she did.
On her way back from the
florist, Juls stops in front of a dress shop to admire the dresses. She recalls
Val telling her how much her friends liked the dress she modified and
suggesting that she go to design school. Meanwhile. Pancho and Lupita are in
bed post coitus. As Pancho strokes Lupita’s hair, she falls asleep and dreams
about El Chino making love to her. Right after she wakes up, she and Pancho
hear the door open; so Pancho quickly gathers his pants and goes to the other
room. Lupita covers her naked body with a blanket and sits up as Juls walks in
casually. Juls avoids talking about what she just walked into and, instead,
they talk about the flowers that Juls sent to Silvina. Juls thinks that Silvina
will probably tell Val that they have left the house. After an awkward and
silent moment, they both laugh.
At Cami’s house, Cami
listens as LCJ tells Guille that he feels as if a great weight has been lifted
from him. Guille still questions how this could be possible. Cami replies that
he might get his answer when he finishes his book; for now there are many
questions and very few answers. As Cami explains that there might be someone
who comes up with an elaborate plan, Death Chick walks around as she listens.
Guille then asks LCJ when he will tell the family. LCJ admits that he has
already told Lucía…and it didn’t seem as if it was good news for her. When
Guille asks why, LCJ responds that there are several other things that they
need to discuss calmly; right now the issue is with Eva who has gotten herself
into a big dilemma.
At Alacrán’s nest, Eva
wonders if Alacrán really wants her to choose between him and Mat. Alacrán
questions if she is planning on having the three of them raise their child. Eva
is dismayed that she has gotten herself into this situation. Alacrán reminds
her how much she enjoyed being with him; he is sure she has never experienced
what she has experienced with him. Eva won’t deny it, but all of this has been
a mistake; she is destroying everything around her…and she doesn’t want to be
responsible for her husband’s death. Alacrán scowls that she shouldn’t worry;
he will be glad to assume that responsibility. When Eva insists that she
doesn’t want it to happen, Alacrán retorts that he does; he will not allow Mat
to destroy her in front of the whole world. Eva counters that the publication
can’t be stopped…there is no going back. Alacrán thinks that is more reason to
unload his gun on Mat. Eva threatens that if he kills Mat, he can forget about
her…and about his son.
Mat is in his room with
bottle in hand and talking to his reporter friend who assures him that the
article will be printed. Mat thanks him and adds that they cannot tolerate
those types of individuals in their country.
At Cami’s house, LCJ has
told Guille about Eva. Guille can’t believe Eva is associated with criminals,
but now understands Mat’s attitude and why Mat didn’t want to tell him
anything. LCJ remarks that Mat is not thinking straight and wants to take all
of this to the media. He doesn’t think that they should be accomplices to a
crime; and they have to find some very good lawyers to defend Eva so she can
get out of this with the least amount of punishment. When LCJ tells Guille that
he is going to have to help him. Guille is rattled since he just received the
news about LCJ...and now LCJ wants him to handle Eva’s situation. LCJ points
out that he read Guille’s thesis; he knows not only that Guille is very smart,
but he is also very sensible. Cami interjects that those are León’s words…he
talks about sensibility. Guille agrees to help Eva however he can, but he also
thinks that LCJ should speak to Val and Eva. (Wait, Guille could not even
extricate himself from the liquor store shooting, and nobody actually died. You
may need a bit more legal horsepower. Guille was bested by a housecat.)
In Johny’s office, Lucía
is trying to make Johny understand that supernatural things happen without
logic. Johny insists that everything has to have logic. Lucía is very
frustrated and tells Johny to just suppose that León has returned. She asks
what the first thing León would do if not take vengeance. She points out
everything that has been happening to them—the origamis, the notes, and the
threats. Johny then tells Lucía that, supposing that it is true, what needs to
be done is to kill him again! Lucía grabs Johny by the lapels and cries that
he’d better not dare do such a thing. What does she need to do to make him
understand that the best evidence is right in front of him…does he not see that
she is T E R R I F I E D!!? Johny
tries to hug her, but Lucía pushes him away and sobs.
In Val’s
room, Val insists to Sergio that she still feels guilty since Lucho was helping
her. Sergio understands how Val feels and wonders if Val has asked herself
where Lucho could be. Ever since Lucho died, Sergio has been wondering if there
is something after death or what happens when one dies. After Val confides that
she had the same thoughts when her father died, she shows Sergio Cami’s book
and tells him it helped her very much. She believes that everything in the book
is true.
At
Cami’s house, Alicia arrives; so Cami introduces her to LCJ. When he adds that
LCJ is “El Chino Valdez,” Alicia is taken aback (probably thinking “Dang, why
couldn’t have I gotten the body instead of the soul?”). After Alicia sits down,
Cami asks about Micaela; so Alicia replies that Micaela’s father has no
interest in his daughter. Cami thinks he can talk to the director to ask that
Micaela be allowed to leave, but Alicia shares that Micaela has another way of
getting out. LCJ assumes that Micaela plans to get out without permission. Cami
insists that they will not doing anything underhanded. Speak for yourself
Camshaft.
Guille
is in his room looking at the book that LCJ gave him on his birthday. After he
rereads the inscription, Guille wonders how he could not see that it was his
father’s handwriting.
At the
sanatorium, Micaela is in her room folding clothes when a nurse (Alicia in
disguise) comes in and asks if she needs help with getting dressed. When
Micaela turns around and sees that it’s Alicia, she smiles as Alicia tells her
that they have 10 minutes. A few minutes later, Alicia walks out of the room
with Micaela dressed as a nun walking behind her. When a guard is about to stop
Micaela, another (real) nurse, comes and interrupts by giving the fake nun a bible
that she forgot. The nurse walks with Micaela and Alicia until they are outside
and thanks her for coming...as Micaela winks at her.
Lucía walks into her room
looking distraught and exhausted. Candela follows and asks how things went.
Lucía responds that it was very bad; it was a horrible day. Lucía then tells Candela that she has already
made an appointment with the oncologist so that Candela can go see him…this is
her life and whatever Lucía can do, she will do to help Candela. Candela thinks
it is a beautiful gesture, but it is not necessary…she doesn’t have cancer.
Candela confesses that Lucía was so angry that day that Candela thought she was
going to run her off; she made it up to be able to stay with Lucía, but she
doesn’t want to keep lying. Not everything was a lie; only the part about the
cancer. Her regrets and asking for forgiveness was true. Lucía doesn’t have the
strength for arguments or explanations; she asks Candela to leave her alone.
In Val’s room. Sergio has
read some passages from Cami’s book and wonders what could happen if it were true.
Val thinks it is true; many things have happened to her to make her think even
more so. Sergio asks her to explain; so Val tells him about Juls’s father
coming back to life. Sergio laughs, but Val assures him that it is true. After
Sergio admits that his sister has contacted a medium to reach out to their dead
cousin, he suggests that they try to talk to Lucho and ask if he is going to
come back. Val likes the idea of talking to Lucho; and she would also like to
talk to her father. Sergio then searches the internet for a medium. As they
come across Barbara’s name, Death Chick watches and smiles. (Yaaaa, now we're
talking!)
Outside, Guille
approaches Lucía with book in hand. He tells her that he talked to his father;
and his father told him that he had talked to her. Lucía nods and comments that
he must be talking about Jacobo. Guille clarifies that it was his father; he
knows it is him. Guille then shows Lucía the inscription in the book and points
out that it is his father’s handwriting. When Lucía cries and asks if he
believes him, Guille assures her that he does; everything makes sense,
especially when he thinks about everything—the first time he saw Jacobo and how
Jacobo looked at him and said his name, on his birthday near the fire pit,
their conversations and how Jacobo worried about him during the Castillo
incident. Guille remarks that LCJ kept sending them signs and they never saw
them. Lucía asks if his father mentioned her; so Guille admits that his father
told him that she did some wrong things; but his father is a gentleman. When he
tells her that she shouldn’t worry, Lucía responds that there are many things
he doesn’t understand. As she tells him that she would like to talk to someone
about it, MayeLaIntrusa comes up and asks if she was interrupting; she needs to
talk to Guille. They go off leaving Lucía with her thoughts and fears.
Later, Guille calls Mat
and tells him that he needs to talk to him about Eva. Mat sighs deeply and
tells Guille to turn on his television. Meanwhile, at the company, Eva walks
into the editing room where everyone is listening to a special report—about a woman
known throughout the country, the daughter of a successful businessman… Eva
Carvajal.

She told him about a shaman who might be able to give him some answers. Since it’s hard for her to get permission to leave the sanatorium, Alicia is helping her “escape” for a while so that Micaela can take them to the shaman.

Anon, thank you. Micaela is just another transmigrant who Alicia found. Camilo is getting info from her to see if he can shed more light about the transmigration of souls. She told him about a shaman who might be able to give him some answers. Since it’s hard for her to get permission to leave the sanatorium, Alicia is helping her “escape” for a while so that Micaela can take them to the shaman.
Thank You RGV. Ms. Micaela should get a fake identity like Jacobo and restart her life, never going back to the looney bin.
Leon has convinced Lucia, much to her dismay, and now Guille is onboard leaving Vale and FWIW, Evil. He will probably not have a lot of trouble convincing Vale, I see some big time hugging coming up.
Eva, why bother. You might send her a note after she is behind bars.
Yes, corona, your ship is sinking, and you are the only one left on board. Would you like us to call you Captain Ahab? Would you prefer to be eaten alive with your glasses on or your glasses off? Every time Monty shows up I hear Jaws music.
I am still mystified that Lucia has maintained all along that the murder of Leon was a complete surprise and she never signed up for that. Who is she trying to kid? How was that going to work otherwise? A perpetual threesome? Or are the writers kidding us? Oh well, she still has some debts unpaid. With Leon's new (probably temporary) body, he could go find someone as physically attractive as her, as that is her only asset. What else he could possibly still see in her escapes me. He could grow old just trying to teach her about clothing.
Do something with that homeless guy hair and beard and he could find somebody.

Leon probably does not even need to tell Maxx, he knew from the start. Silvina will be relieved, and have some 'I told you so" ammo to use on Tiberio.
But, but, but, how can Leon get his company back? He can't go to Securities and Exchange or the Mexican equiv and just tell them he came back to life.
But as things stand, he is the rightful owner, still, of probably a major share in the company. The only practical way would be to marry Lucia as Jacobo, and let Death Chick or Alacran or Big C take her out and inherit back what is rightfully his.
Or if his days are numbered, as I suspect, he needs to see to it that Guille and Vale are the rightful owners, with Eva and Lucia out on the street.

SusanLynn just remember that anyone like Johny who schemes to become a best friend only to later murder Leon, and take over his life, wife, and money is highly defective upstairs to begin with. Like your friend Diablo who changes Supermarket Coupons to Super Mario Groping.
Johny does not think like a normal human to begin with, and not even like a wild animal which only kills to eat and survive. And none of them are cannibals, they don't eat their own kind.

It was WONDERFUL to see Lupita happy and SMILING.
I *knew* Montilla wanted to compare the fingerprints from Susana's fatal coffee cup and the one he offered Johny. It was sly of him to set it up the way he did. He would have loved having the DNA, but you work with what you get. He could have gotten a warrant--but he wants Johny in his pincers, closing in on him slowly rather than warning Johny in advance. Every time they sit down to talk, Montilla tells him not to leave the city--which is exactly what Johny ought to do, if he's smart. He probably has millions already stashed somewhere overseas. He's already hinted so to Lucia as he tried to convince her to get married and go away with him.
Sorry, but I'm still on Lucia's side re killing Leon. As I recall, which is faulty at best, the original plan was to soak the company and then run away together. Something she was ok with and left the details up to Johny while she gathered origami birds and swooned over Leon. Somewhere along the timeline, I think Johny changed the original trajectory and decided he wanted to become the Crowned King of Carvajal. That's when his plan for murder got hatched. I think what he may have shared with Luci was that the plan involved *getting rid* of Leon later on. Who knows how Luci interpreted that. No, she's NOT innocent of all charges. She's still very much an active accomplice, but her sand castle is starting to ebb away and she knows it, while Johny's ship is definitely sinking and he knows it. Desperation usually brings desperate measures. Will Johny try to kidnap Lucia to keep her from talking? Too little time for another three episodes.
I watch Dateline a lot. There are more than enough examples of a man wooing a woman with good manners, wine, song and dance and plenty of attention. Once they are married--they DO turn into different men: abusive, possessive, angry, controlling, fraudulent, criminal and unfaithful (forgive the repetition, but each has its own unique characteristics).

Johny May have changed his plan midway, but Lucia still went along with his scheme, sonyes, she still has much to answer for, especially when she remained quiet about the murder and continued to go along with Johny’s plan to prett much steal as much as they could. I do see some redeeming qualities in her though; she has always tried to take care of Val and Guille and, though i hate to say it, she seemed to love Leon and appeared genuinely torn by his death. The question is: will she somehow convince Leon that she really did love him? From what he has witnessed, it is highly improbable...but he is a man and he still luuurves her...ughh!

RGV--Remember their conversation after she rejected "old geezer" Armenta? She sold LCJ to shut it, he didn't know Leon and he wasn't the same as Armenta as a man. Then there was the time in the cabana. LCJ asked her delicately several times about her feelings for Leon--did she think they would have been happy and she answered yes; did she miss him and she answered yes. I think Luci followed Johny's orders to seduce Leon, but she ended up falling in love--or at least becoming endeared to him. In his original body, he *was* still good looking, fit, intelligent, witty, and attentive. We didn't learn until recently he'd taken her on so many trips. She ended up being the one seduced. I think she'd take Leon back in either body--but will he is the big question.
Adriana--I'm with you on your interpretation for Leon's future. It fits him, although I don't want him to die at Johny's hands. Let Montilla take Johny. Maybe *IF* Leon has to die, it should be at the hands of El Alacran--who will then be convinced he GOT El Chino, only to find out he didn't.

Ooops. Sorry, Adriana--I didn't follow your future for Lucia--it is she who will die in the crossfire. Well, at least she won't have to worry about what Wardrobe dresses her in for her funeral. (Tongue in cheek, I don't really want her to die.)
Leon's "crime" of giving 150% to the company at his family's expense is not particularly unusual. We are also missing a lot of information, such as when did his first wife die? How long were his children without a mother? I don't recall any of them talking about her, even Eva (the oldest). Did they have nannies? Were they sent away to schools at younger-than-usual ages?

If you don't accomplish that, your contract is voided, ask Santos. DC doesn't screw around. So what if Leon makes some furtive half ass attempt to reveal himself to the kids and say hello on his way to a second honyemoon, after convincing Lucy that he is the real deal, and DC punches his ticket. That would be perfect. DC didn't bring him back to set Lucia's pants on fire. And that would be the perfect punishment for her too, finally falling totally in love with him, no holds barred this time and then he die on her. AGAIN.

Great recap Rgv Chick and fun to see the intensity of the patio discussion now that this story is nearing its end. I especially loved your title and then this from your retelling:

Your recap was very coherent but for some reason the episode itself felt fragmented and jumbled to me--the way they do when Univision starts hacking away and smushes several episodes together.
I don't think that's what happened, but it just didn't hang together well this time. For me anyway. And speaking of incongruities, that luxurious furnished apartment that Pancho provided!....
The man lived in a modest hovel with his wife and kids. How does he come by those snazzy digs on short order? Especially since we've only seen him go "to work" once. And we have no reason to assume that said work is well paid. First time around he could only find them a closet in his aunt's place. Are the writers getting tired and are just throwing stuff at the wall at this point?
Of course Beltrino worked his usual magic with me. I'm a hopeless slush bucket for a man being tender and kind with a child, and he and Javier just seem to "fit" together.
I also thought the scene between Guillermo and LCJ was well played. For the longest time Guille wouldn't even look at him. Only as he slowly came to believe that LCJ was telling the truth did he slowly turn and "connect" through eye contact. That is just how it would happen in real life and I thought that the scene was very well done.

But since I have a soft spot for Lucia and do believe she failed to understand Johny's master plan, I'm all the sorrier that I don't think she and LCJ are going to sail off into the sunset. As a matter of fact, since she has forgiven her mother and forgiven herself, I would predict that her death is imminent. There is now no "unfinished business" and, maybe since it's Ash Wednesday, it's time for that "remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return".
At this point, she may actually take that as good news.
Now onto "real life". Did I hear some of you complaining about the cold? Walked in the park today in 10 degree weather. What amazes me is there is always an old couple there (meaning a few years older than I) limping around with their dog no matter how horrid the weather. Animal lovers are just amazing. What we won't do for that unconditional love!! Have a great day Patio and stay warm....somehow.

I had a Mardis Gras feast last night with friends at a local restaurant with a Louisiana menu. Two of us had the Crawfish Boil, which is delicious but messy. And it was bitingly cold here, too. I've been drinking hot tea all day.
I still think Lucia should throw Candela out. You don't have to forgive toxic parents because their actions leave scars that can't fully heal. I hope she finds out that Johny sent for her to mess with her head.

I will be very angry with the writers if Lucia doesn't find out about Johny's involvement in Candela's presence. I also think that Lucia should have set her up differently, like in the movie Madame X, with something that would give her funds on an annual or quarterly basis only if she left D.F. and never came back.

Right. It is not a requirement. But it is a choice to live as a hero or strong survivor rather than a victim. And in that sense it can make one feel better and heal. You become your own best advocate.

Now that I've come to the conclusion that his craving was for power all along, that cements my opinion of his fate.
