Amar a Muerte, 3/4/19, Episode 82: Discomfort, Revelation, and Resolution?

Jacobo went to see Camilo to up date him on his failure to convince Lucia about his situation. Both of these men should realize that this situation isn't exactly logical-sounding to people who haven't experienced it. However, his main worry now was about Mateo, whose situation was a complete disaster.

Mateo, in the meantime, was walking around his home with a drink in hand and thinking about the confrontation with Eva and the ugly truths he learned from it. All while looking at the remodeling that had to have been an excuse to make Lucia's life miserable and perhaps to cover up something else.

Eva called Alacrán and got angry when he didn't answer the phone himself. When the phone was handed to him she told him that Mateo had not only found out about them, but about the money laundering. He was wrapped up in a blanket and looked like he had worse things to worry about. He asked what she expected him to do and she told him “Whatever you can.”

Lucia sat with Lupita and said something complimentary about Juliana. Lupita realized that there was another reason Lucia was there. It was awkward, but Lucia told her that she was there to talk about Jacobo because she wanted to find out the truth about him. He appeal sounded sincere, so Lupita explained that she had married Chino Valdez who turned out to be an evil man who committed murders, for which reason he went to the electric chair. Yet, he seemed to have survived but claimed that he was no longer El Chino, but another man. While she had had her doubts over the months since he told her this, she seems persuaded that the soul in El Chino's body is not that of her husband but of a man named Jacobo Reyes.

At a very uncomfortable dinner table, Guille told Valentina that he was worried about Eva and Mateo, the latter of whom had let the house. Mayeli ignored his concern and selfishly held up the wine bottle, asking if he remembered when they last drank this one on a vacation, when his luggage was very overweight, and finally saying that she still had the photos from it. Renata carefully said nothing, knowing that Mayeli was looking to provoke her. Then Mayeli fired another cheap shot at her with a vacation question. She answered that she liked Cozumel. Mayeli said it was beautiful, but plunged in the knife about Renata not mentioning anything international. She went on about how easy it is to get into Canada without a visa and about how Guille is all about shopping and fashion, etc. Renata did not reply, only asking whether anyone wanted anything from the kitchen as she excused herself from the table. After she left Mayeli and Valentina looked at photos on each others' smartphones with Guille seeming oblivious to what just happened.

In the kitchen Renata encountered Candela, who immediately admitted to having overheard [eavesdropped on] the conversation in the wine room. She talked about neve having been out of the country, nor Lucia [who wouldn't have told her about her travels with León]. But who cares when one can live in a house like this? Renata commented that Mayeli's purse would cost her two months' pay,ao did Candela actually do some good by encouraging Renata to fight for Guille? She did make her laugh [which still doesn't excuse her sins against her own daughter].

Beltrino removed the bandage he had put over his moth tattoo, which appears to have shrunk as well as healed. He asked for a pain pill, then a drink. Alicia an Javier were trying to watch a movie on television and he explained to them that he was nervous about returning to the university. He wantted to tell Javier the truth, which Alicia said that would not be a good idea. His moth began bleeding again.

Lucia asked Lupita what she meant and Lupita replied that she had no idea who Jacobo Reyes was but was sure that this man is not her husband. Lucia looked confused and finally said that this was completely illogical and unnatural. Lupita said she thought so as well until she saw her husband's soul in another man's body, then named him.

Beltrino went into the bathroom, closed the door, and saw El Chino's face staring back from the mirror. He began freaking out. Alicia went inside to comfort him.

Jacobo felt pain, so Camilo checked the back of his neck and his forehead. He had a fever. Jacobo said he thought this was ending, that there wasn't much time left. When he said he was there for revenge his headache got worse.

Alacrán got up from his bed, clutching his side. He was still determined to get El Chino and Mateo, telling his men to look for him at his house. He was determined to go. Gancho looked worried and a little afraid.

Mateo walked around the library, drink in hand, when he should have been on a plane out of the country. Finally opening up his laptop.

Eva rained more crocodile tears in her room. Silvina came in to tell her she had made her favorite dish, but Eva didn't want anything to eat. She forced her out, yelling at her to leave her alone. She then stood in front of the closed door, crying for Alacrán.

Valentina got sloshed as Mayeli continued on about memories that Renata didn't share. Renata got up to excuse herself. Mayeli silently congratulated herself on her successful attack as she insincerely said she had no intention to annoy her. Renata resumed her seat and said she had nothing to contribute to the conversation and that for her life wasn't about about foreign vacations and expensive drunken binges. Guille took her hand as she said that for her happiness can't be bought with money. “Happiness lives; you don't buy it.” Mayeli tried to reduce this to an advertising slogan and tell her she should be in that field. Renata responded that she was happy being a secretary and was satisfied with herself. [Is this wishful thinking on my part or did she freak Mayeli out?] She then excused herself, kissed Guille, and left the table.

Lupita got Juliana back to the living room and asked her whether El Chino seemed different to her. She said that he originally couldn't speak English, but could after he revived. “He talkedlikean educated person, which El Chino isn't. He was amiable, not theguy I knew as El Chino. To the contrary, Beltran had the same expression as my father. He was hateful, the same hate I saw in my father.” Lucia listened with concern, then asked whether Juliana thought something weird had happened with this. She said she didn't at first, but now thought so after everything that had happened. Lucia looked concerned, then a bit sick. Lupita asked “So who would Jacobo Reyes be?” Lucia excused herself and left.

Johny fiddled with a pistol while flashbacking to Montilla telling him he was on the verge of catching León's killer and telling him not to leave the city and to SB's aide telling him that their alliance was suspended until their situation was resolved. He then thought of his last conversation with Lucia, then cocked the pistol and pointed it in what he thought was a badass stance.

Eva called Alacrán but got Gancho, who told her that he was asleep, but that he had given orders to kill Mateo. That he would soon be in a new life out of the country. He hung up and Eva began to unravel.

Mateo finished typing his story as Alacrán's assassin entered on little cat feet. He stopped to look at his watch as Mateo's cell rang. It was Eva, panicking. The assassin backed up as Eva told Mateo that Alacrán ordered his death and he had to get out of there as fast as possible. He was too shocked to react, which made her panic more. She ended the call and started calling someone else only to get the message that the number was out of the service area. She started trying another call as Guille entered the room, asking what was wrong. He asked why Mateo left the house and asked if she wanted him to help. She finally said he couldn't help and cried on his shoulder.

The assassin got to the library but Mateo was not there. The killer didn't even bother looking at the laptop screen. He got to the end of the room only to be ambushed by Mateo who knocked him down and punched him a few times. There was a brief grapple on the floor and the killer grabbed his foot only for Mateo to kick him in the face with his other foot before getting to his feet, grabbing his compter, anad running out just as the killer got to his feet.

Silvina stopped at Lucia's room to find out if she needed anything and Lucia asked her about whether she believed in life after death. Silvina was a little uneasy with the question until she saw that Lucia was confused and even afraid. Lucia told her that Jacobo told her that he was León. Silvina looked like she had a lightbulb moment regarding her ability to see people's past and future. She had thought she was losing her mind when she sensed this. She mentioned the origami birds and the way he snacked on tomatoes, and how Max reacted to him. Lucia sat down on the bed, looking as though she was going hyperventilate, faint, or both.

Jacobo was lying on the bed at Camilo's place, sure that the end was near.

Mateo phoned Eva from his car. She said “Thank God you're alright” but he wasn't having it.

Guille found Renata in her room and told her that he knew she was uncomfortable at dinner and that social class isn't important to him. What he enjoyed most at dinner was how she had put Mayeli in her place. He went on to say that he knew that money didn't equal happiness and tld him that she made him happy. That their love was magic to him. This looks like a reconciliation.

Lucia went into Candela's room and sat at the edge of the bed. She whispered that when she was a child she would come into her mother's room so she would not have to go to bed alone. Despite that she had been raised abusively and had learned fear. She actually forgave the slut for not knowing how to be a mother. She cried, then left the room and closed the door, not knowing that Candela was awake and heard every word.

Were Candela's tears real or those of a crocodile?

The following morning Martinez told Montilla that he had a surprise. He showed him the evidence bag with the discarded coffee cups from Susanna's apartment. Montilla had him rush to the lab to look for poisons.

Lucia was not in her office when Johny arrived; he was told that she didn't answer her phone. This was supposed to be the day of the big meeting, so he called her; she told him she would be delayed. She would explain later. What was she thinking of with that dress? Did she borrow that from Candela? Who, unknown to Lucia, watched her leave.

Jacobo had called Guille and was waiting for him at Camilo's. He felt he needed to tell him the truth despite Camilo's misgivings. Guille was getting ready to go when Valentina stopped him long enough to thank him for his help and to tell him that he needed to go home with Renata to reconnect with her. He agreed and they hugged.

Lucia arrived at Camilo's first and Jacobo hid to eavesdrop. She asked Camilo point blank for the truth, as he is a man of science. He told her to listen carefully, then hit her with the truth. She got upset, saying she couldn't believe it. He got her to sit down and he explained that Jacobo had arrived with León's memories and that he had met other transmigrated souls. She freaked and left before he could stop her.

As he zipped up her dress, Guille said that it was time for them to leave the mansion and live elsewhere. He was getting a loan from his godfather which would make that possible. [We'd rather Guille get allergy shots and move back in with Renata and Tlyaco, at least until they both have jobs.]

Montilla went to Johny's office with two coffee cups, identical to the one Johny had used as a weapon. He gave him a cup and started talking about the investigation into Susanna's death. He asked what he had been doing on the day in question. Johny then put down the cup without having taken a sip and called Magda in for the purpose of confirming his alibi.

Guille sat in Camilo's study as he showed him his manuscript on transmigrated souls, explaining that this is a real thing. “I'm talking about your father,” he said. Then he let Jacobo in.

Jacobo?” Guille asked him.
No. León Carvajal.”

Since this is my last entry for this tale, thanks for reading and for your comments. See you in the next one!

Sin tu Mirada starts Tuesday March 19, 2019 at 3p/2c.

Thank you, UA! Time really flew today, but you caught all the details, outstanding!

Alexander, thanks for letting us know about Si Tu Mirada. It sounds interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing Claudia Martin being a good girl again.

I’ll wait to comment on the episode until tomorrow.

Thank You Urban. Wowzers. Had to wear gloves for this one, or chew off the whole ends of my fingers.

Surprise, surprise, (door)Mat out smarts and outfights an armed Goonie. I believe you have earned the right to live now Mister. Go get her.

And how many times does Lucia need to hear it, and from how many people, before she BELIEVES? I'd betcha Death Chick is more interested in Leon's righting things with his offspring than setting some breeding record with Lucia. Look at your kids, Leon, you still have work to do.

Montillo sure is fun. Like watching a cat play with a cockroach. I assume the lab found DNA or some damning evidence on the coffee cups. Johny has done so many dastardly deeds it is hard to keep them all mentally cataloged.

Can't Silvina just put Candela-bra in a Hefty Lawn and Leaf bag and put her out on Thursday?

I wondered, is Death Chick just trying to get Beltrino back on track...or is the gig up for him?

Except for her self destructive lunatic fascination with Worthless Guille, Renata is a great chick.

Urban, thank you for this and all your excellent recaps.

I hope Mateo survives.I am sick of looking at Eval sobbing. As the saying goes, " You made your bed. Now lie in it. "

Renata certainly is hopelessly devoted and long suffering. Attraction is sometimes mysterious.

I cannot wait to see John's anvil. Montilla really is like Colombo...one of my mother's favorite shows which is still on in reruns.

Telenovelas certainly are full of people exhibiting amoral and hedonistic behaviors. The other day, I came across a fascinating quote from the poet Mary Oliver : " You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. " I have to contemplate that for awhile. It kind of brought Alacran and his bunnies to mind.....the only softness and love he has except for Eval..perhaps. DOes he love her or only want her?

Sunny and bright here but only 30.

Good Morning, Patio!

Yes, Mat has earned his right to live...and move on hopeofully. Yes, Steve, I'm sure Mat is not out of the woods yet; Alacran doesn't give up that easily.nEva is having a helluvan eye-opener. Does she really think she can control Alacran?? She must think that his luurve for her is so great that she can stop him...delusional witch!

Renata certainly is earning her sainthood. I really enjoyed her comeback at Mayela...almost like throwing a cowpie in her face...hahaha! Take that you, skank!

Kirby, I think Lucia does believe tha LCJ is Leon, she's just running scared and is so guilt-ridden that she doesn't want to admit that she believes it.

I still think it's interesting that LCJ and Beltrino both experience pain and bleeding at the same time...could it be the body-soul connection?

Montilla, clever, slick guy! He has Johny running skeered and I am really enjoying watching that. I think this is the first time I see a TN where the cops are actually doing their jobs and doing it well.

Yesssss I Luuuurved Renata telling (spoiled) Mayo "Well, you haughty superficial witch, I like myself just the way I am, and so does Guille." Hrumpf

Like who I am, not what I have.

" believe that LCJ is Leon, she's just running scared and is so guilt-ridden that she doesn't want to admit that she believes it." So ONCE AGAIN, where is his revenge plan?

If he (Leon) sees his second time alive as simply an opportunity to get Lucia's pants off and him in them, (A great feat?) then Death Chick needs to replant him.

It was great Monty bringing in the coffee in an almost blow for blow re-enactment with Johny of when Johny brought coffee to Susana. It was the same multi-cup carrier, and looked to be the same style cups. Probably from the same store.

I personally think that Johny was planning to marry Lucia before whacking her although I don't know whether he has escalated this now. Jacobo could be his immediate target, although I have difficulty believing that he bought the idea of transmigration.

Montilla is the DF Columbo. He should get his own series.

Kirby..yes, Colombo was great at playing those mind games , and Montilla seems to have the same talent. He is enjoying slowly but surely stalking John. Cat 😽 and mouse.

....or maybe more like cat 🐱 and rat.

Delightful recap of a really satisfying episode Urban. Thank you. And have to agree with you first off in wondering why on earth Lucia would wear such a vulgar dress. To the office or anywhere!? Just awful. I think even the slutty Candela might choose not to don such a costume.

But on to other matters. Enjoyed the usually hateful Candela serving as an Assertiveness Training Coach to Renata-- and then the beautiful way that Renata carried it out! Clear, dignified, wise... our little gal totally flattened Mayela's attempt to play "You're Not One of Us and Never Will Be, Fool!"

And like you, Urban, would have preferred that Guille use his own earnings (Get a job, kid!) rather than cadging more money from his godfather to get a new place for the two of them. But the need is there, certainly.

Felt sorry for Alicia last night. She's tending to a very fragile son in the midst of a stem cell transplant and then has to go tend to a pseudo-husband in the midst of an existential crisis. This poor lady is working overtime.

I'm all for Forgiveness as a way of extending one's peace and leaving a painful past behind, rather than endlessly rehearsing grievances as most of us do.

It's not that Candela "deserves forgiveness" it's that Lucia, or rather the innocent child she once was, deserves to be free of that chain of hate and grievance that bound her to her dreadful mother.

Loved that scene as a scene of liberation from the slavery of loathing and resentment.

Now Lucia really is ready to begin a true love affair, but I imagine LCJ's time on earth is coming to a close. Too little too late. We shall see.

Also surprised, and a little skeptical, that our dear, wimpy Mateo could overpower a narco killer, but glad that he did. I had Mat pegged for a sacrificial lamb for sure. And of course the story hasn't ended yet. These writers always seem to kill off some Innocent and leave us howling in outrage. Please don't let it be Silvina! Or the darling Renata. Well, enough hand wringing....

Thanks again UA. Lovely screenshot as well.

Death Chick dresses far better than Lucia. Lucia's outfit before this one looked like "Bride of Dracula".

Crap. Nose prints all over that one, try again.

I suppose they are telling us, with Lucia's clothing, that money can't buy class.

Case in point, Reni's classy little green number last night.

The Dog's eye view is 'Look at me, not the dress.'
Very effective. Woof.

Susanlynn: Montilla as Colombo ? He's more like Perry Mason, Paul Drake & Della Street all in one LOL.

Re :'Lucia's wardrobe....what about that oversized floral kimona\bathrobe\coat thing she had on some episodes back. I think that the wardrobe department wants her to appear avante gard and dancing to her own drummer.

Steve...Montilla seems to be the guy who brings the anvil down on John....in slow motion. Step by step.

Mil gracias, Antropologa Urbana. This was such a great episode I had to watch it twice. Now I will have to read your recap twice. It was very satisfying.

I particularly enjoyed Renata's take-down of Mayela, even though we had to wait while the scenes were broken up. Renata's pointing out to Mayela that she had the right novio and he didn't object to that was very satisfying indeed.

If LCJ's time is short, Luci may be too late to reunite and explain herself, asking for forgiveness. Will the fact that she was a fragile, easily manipulated woman count with LCJ?

About the coffee cups. Well played, Montilla. He wants Johny to know he knows. Still, he may not have gotten any DNA off the undrunk coffee cup, but he certainly did get fingerprints. I've loved watching him work. I think he nailed Johny for the fake, fraud, criminal he is early on when he made that visit to Johny's place, asking how did he know that Luci and Jacobo had been let loose before the police knew.

(No)S-Bueno needs to be exposed and lose the election and Eva's involvement in money laundering for the cartel needs to come to public light. Only then will I be satisfied with any ending the writers throw at us. Well, maybe a Hoppy Every After for Guille and Renata. They have been the most steadfast couple we've seen in a long time.

Even though we've seen a not so fragile and easily manipulated woman at the head of Carvajal, the fact that she couldn't prevail against Wardrobe's choice for last night's outfit, is evidence she's still easily manipulated....

:-) Anita

Oh, and if Johny turns the gun on himself and offs himself alone, in his home at some point I will raise holy hell with the writers. We didn’t endure his obsequiessness, unctiousness and all around disgusting behavior to have him exit his way and not our way.

The Coward’s Way OUt.

Just saw Luci’s outfit from the front. It looks like she’s wearing a garter belt on the outside.

If Urban ever does another Fashion Faux Pas column, this dress would certainly be in it, as well as the two other outfits that Susanlynn mentioned.

Thank You Judy B!!! That's what I was thinking.

Unlike 99% of patio, I believed that Luci is punished enough already.
