Danilo
gave Juan and Manuel directions to Mónica's house and the two hailed
a cab to go there.
The
judge basically put the Vega team on a deadline to locate Mónica or
Rafael would be considered solely responsible, as there is nothing
currently in evidence to incriminate her. The doctor's widow yelled
“Murderer, murderer!” at him before someone escorted her out.
Roberto told Rafael that they were not giving up.
Victoria
introduced Lorena to Sofia, who gave her the Basic Newbie Pep Talk.
Gustavo
tried to give up the Aguirre case, saying he wasn't up to this.
Alonso told him that there had to have been a major conflict between
the parents for the situation to come to this. It seemed inevitable
that this would end up in court. Gustavo wanted to hand this one off
to Victoria, but Alonso wouldn't let him off. He reminded Gustavo
that this wasn't only about a father being denied his rights, it was
about a child who is dealing with her parents' divorce. Gustavo
realized he was being foolish and agreed to continue. They talked
about moving.
Victoria
told Lorena that family law is actually harder because it's sadder.
It deals with what happens when love goes south. But she always knew
that this would be her specialty. Sofia told her that she started
out as she did and discovered that her specialty would be human
rights. Lorena listened with her wide-eyed innocence (or naïvete,
take your pick). Afterward Victoria introduced her to Alejandra and
left them to talk.
Juan
and Manuel found the house and when Mónica answered the door Juan
did all the talking. He said that Danilo and another neighbor
recommended her for her accounting talent. He spun a story about a
construction job and she told him all she needed was an e-mail
address. He took her information and Manuel entered it in his phone.
She gave Juan her new business card before going back inside.
Man-hug and congratulations between the two.
Gustavo
talked to Ricardo, who told him that everyone loses control once in a
while. He suggested they hang out together that evening to
decompress.
Roberto
went back to the office and told Victoria what happened in court. She
told him he'd handled complicated cases before and he was good at
them. He asked her out for the evening but she turned him down,
claiming work. He didn't give up as she walked away.
Alan
met with Damian Zevala and gave him the impression he knew what he
was talking about. He went through a list of what the client needed,
a client who seems to want to cut corners.
Roberto
walked in on a phone conversation Ricardo was having with Federico
and stayed to talk about his case. He suggested that Ricardo join
him for drinks later but Ricardo begged off to look after Gustavo.
Juan and Manuel came in with the news that they had found Mónica.
They went to Sonia who just wanted to throw the book ar their client.
They got nowhere with her so they left. Adrián and Ricardo left
for home while the others headed for their favorite watering hole.
Victoria
and Alejandra dined together and talked about Alejandra's intentions
regarding Ricardo and Victoria's hesitation about looking for love.
She had suffered a major betrayal shortly after law school when the
man she almost married and started a firm with cheated on her with
one of her best friends. Another one got that far and she caught him
desecrating a desk with a client. Thus her hesitation to trust
Roberto. Alejandra told her that Roberto is different now and that
is wasn't fair for her to not experience love because of two previous
jerks. Victoria seemed convinced.
Roberto
bought the first round and were interrupted by Tania, who kissed
Roberto and made her own intentions known. She had missed him but
his expression said he felt otherwise. He told her he had been very
busy with work but she sensed it was something else. She asked
whether he was in love with anyone.
El
Ciego went to Carlos' place and sounded a bit down in the mouth. One
of his goons ws arrested for homicide. Carlos explained that if he
was caught with a weapon there was no avoiding the charge. El Ciego
reminded him that he owed him for helping him out with Jaime. He
wasn't taking no for an answer and expected Carlos to come through.
After El Ciego left Carlos called Nancy and said he needed her help.
Roberto
saw Tania to a cab and she wanted to know more about her competition.
Roberto didn't really want to talk about it. She finally gave up
for the moment and kissed him goodbye as she wished him luck.
Neither of them saw Victoria, who was a fewe car lengths away on the
sidewalk. She turned around and walked away, looking sick, sad, and
angry. Roberto went back inside and bought the last round. Juan saw
that there was something wrong, but Roberto made light of it.
Ricardo
gave Gustavo a large cup of coffee and mentioned seeing some nice
apartments near the office. He offered to help him move or get him a
moving service. However, Gustavo didn't want anyone else handling
his family's things.
Carlos
gave Nancy a quick just-the-facts before they went to see their
client. The problem was that he was in possession of the firearm
when he was arrested and the bullets matched the ones in the body.
They went to see him. In that slutwear?
Paula
avoided talking about Gilberto's business deal. Alejandra got a
little impatient with her and told her she didn't want her signing
anything she didn't have a chance to review. She wanted to talk to
Alicia's husband, who was apparently now of the country. We'll
see if he returns. My dinero says No.
Carlos
and Nancy saw El Chivo in the lockup and told him that he needed to
tell them everything. He said that he had been moving merchandise
and got caught [if anyone else can fill this in I'd be grateful].
There were others, but they all ran off. She told him to relax and
they would get him out.
Victoria
went home, the words of Alejandra and Roberto echoing in her head.
