Scenes
combined where it made sense to do so.
During
dinner, Sofia told her mother about Cristina's case. She also
noticed that Camila seemed distracted, which Camila dismissed as
normal. [When are we going to get a diagnosis?]
Roberto
told his father about what was going on at the office with the
BigTriangle. Nicolás
said he was sure that Victoria loved Roberto, so it was a question
of finding the right time to talk about their issues. Roberto said
there never seemed to be because of work and stress, so Nicolás'
prescription was relaxation. He suggested they have a drink, so they
went out.
Ricardo
and the kids played video games, which made Gustavo think of his own
son. Federico invited him to join the game, but he said he couldn't.
Federico realized that this reminded him of Luis. He went and
hugged him, as did Natalia.
Did
Carlos and Nancy not make it to the bed? She was sprawled on the
couch in her underwear when he got their post-coital drinks. She
made her availability clear. He told her that he wasn't over
Alejandra. Nancy said she wasn't trying to take Alejandra's or
anyone else's place, just to insure that he felt better. This looked
like a hormone surge that would not become a relationship of any real
feeling, the scratching of an itch.
Roberto
and Nicolás were in a bar where Nicolás regaled some women younger
than Roberto with tales of romantic nights in Paris. They were
impressed.. However, he must have had a few too many because he
began quoting a stat saying that more than 40% of women had never
experienced orgasm. Roberto then got himself another drink and tried
to stop his dad, who continued by saying that the reason was that
they don't demand it. Roberto ordered a round of shots.
Carlos
thanked Nancy for services rendered her company and
the good news about the investigation. He said he knew he wasn't
wrong about her. They agreed this would not affect their
professional relationship. She kissed him once and said she would
see him in the office in the morning. She left without a backward
glance. After she closed the door he whispered Alejandra's name.
Roberto
decided it was time to call it a night. He joked about his dad
staying longer but the ladies also decided to leave. They each
hugged and kissed Nicolás as though he were their own father and
left. Roberto said “I can't believe you said those things” and
Nicolás said that honesty is important. He then asked whether
Roberto was sure about Victoria, which Roberto took to mean whether
she was satisfied sexually. Nicolás said it was not just that and
Roberto knew that there was another issue. [Both of them are
afraid of love.]
Gustavo
stared at the remote control. Ricardo came back, telling him that
the children were asleep. Gustavo cried, saying he would give
anything to feel as Ricardo felt at that moment with his children
there. They talked about the case. Why was this shootout inside
when previously it would have been out in the open?
The
next morning Fanny was fixing her daughter Karla's hair before the
girl left for school. She hugged her as Janneth came to the table.
The girl addressed both as “Mama.”
Ricardo
fixed breakfast for three and told the kids they were going to stop
at the office for him to check on things and then go out for the day.
Federico said that living there full time would make him happy.
Fanny
asked Janneth if she could come with them and Janneth answered that
she had a bad headache. Fanny told her to stay and not worry. She
then remembered that Janneth's mother called the day before. She had
said nothing because she always hung up at the sound of her voice,
but her number was on the caller ID box. Janneth had no desire to
call her mother because they always ended up fighting. Her mother
did not understand their relationship. She told her that when the
headache was gone the next day she would call. Carla came in and
Janneth kissed her goodbye and told her to have a good day at school.
As soon as Karla and Fanny were out Janneth let out the deep breath
she was holding.
Sofia
and Adrian discussed Cristina's case and she said she would look into
the travel arrangements. He said that this case will be difficult
because Blums will try to make it difficult for them by questioning
their preparation and even their credentials. They knew this would
be a major fight.
Juan
was at the courthouse and he had a conversation with Elisa, whose
assistant was in hospital. She was overworked and needed a temp for
a few months. He said he had a friend who needed work and asked if
he could send her. She was happy and then handed him a document he
had requested. He left in a good mood.
Alonso
talked about Ricardo and his kids during breakfast but Lourdes did
not appear to hear him. He asked what was wrong and she was
reluctant to burden him with more. He got her to talk about Paula's
situation and understood how difficult this was for her. He finally
advised her to help both to the degree she could without taking
sides. He said he would speak to Jaime about this and that when it
was all over both women would understand.
Juan
called Fernanda to tell her that they had a court date the next day.
He was going home to prepare. He called Tatiana and told her he had
good news and could she be in his ofice in two hours. She was
delighted.
Sofia
and Carmen reviewed the travel plans when Ricardo stopped by with the
kids. The kids thanked her for helping them to come down. Natalia
asked if she would join them later. That might have been exactly
what she had been looking for.
Fanny
got home and called out to Janneth, whom she found unconscious on the
floor. She took out her cell and called for an ambulance. It came
and Janneth was taken out on a gurney. Fanny grabbed her car keys
and took a deep breath.
Jaime
went to see Alonso about Paula's situation, explaining he needed some
help in finding Gilberto because Paula couldn't handle another loss
at this time.
Tatiana
put on her best red dress before coming to Juan's office. The dress
was too short, of course, and she crossed her legs as soon as she sat
down. Juan explained the job at the courthouse and she had no
experience with such work. He told her she would learn quickly and
wrote down the relevant information. She thanked him, got up, and
paused at the door with her usual extra thanks and comments about how
he is the only man to care about her. When he got up she pulled him
in by the hands and kissed him. He looked ill at ease.
Sofia
must have done her homework on Ricardo's kids; she and Natalia
preferred the same flavor of ice cream and she and Federico both
liked horror movies. Natalia asked whether she liked animals and
which one was her favorite. Ricardo teased that this sounded like an
interrogation, but Sofia didn't mind. Both kids seemed to like her.
This sounded like they were sizing her up for stepmotherhood. She
told them she had to take a business trip the next day but they could
do something when she got back.
El
Ciego and his two favorite thugs reviewed the distribution map, which
included El Gringo's territory. They got nervous, but this seemed to
be a plan to flush El Gringo out. They left, probably thinking that
their boss was batshit crazy.
Adrian
gave Victoria the books he studied from for his certification and
said he would help when he got back. She offered to help with his
case. He took her hand and she did not object.
A
doctor told Fanny that Janneth suffered a vascular problem in the
brain and this is affecting all her organs. It is something that
presents itself with little or no warning. He told her they were
doing everything possible. He went back inside just as the patient's
parents arrived. They immediately interrogated Fanny about Janneth
and Karla. Karla was at a classmate's home because Fanny didn't
think it would have been a good thing to have her at the hospital
where she would just sit and worry. Janneth's mother accused Fanny
of turning her against her parents and trying to do the same with
Karla. Fanny denied this, saying that she was only interested in her
daughter's well-being. Janneth's father threatened to have her
thrown out of the hospital but Fanny would not leave. She said she
would stay until she saw Janneth.
Michelle
and El Gringo discussed El Ciego and how to deal with him. They
intended to attack from within.
Victoria
went to the office the next morning with Adrian's books. Roberto put
his foot in the elevator door to get in with her. He started talking
about their student days, finally saying that she is studying now to
avoid him. Then he moved into her space for the usual reason.
