Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Viernes 6/14/19 Episode 65: Oh, Mama
Roberto strides unwittingly into his office, only to be confronted by his backstory. He doesn't recognize his mother at first, but once she drops the bomb he takes it surprisingly calmly. He cross-examines her like a boss, and she produces plausible answers: I left your father because he was a womanizer; I was penniless and on the street; he wouldn't let me see you. She proves she kept up on every aspect of his life by providing myriad details of his school life and subsequent career. When he asks the 64-thousand-peso question -- "Why now?" -- she tells him she just lost her last remaining relative after a long illness, and Auntie Estela made her promise to try for a reconciliation. She's believable enough, but she has that pinched mouth that doesn't inspire confidence.
They run into Victoria and Adrian on the way out, and Rob introduces her as his mother. Cara muy impactada de Vic, including a complete 180 as they walk away. Rob tells Mom to call and they'll talk. I imagine dinner with Dad tonight will be a bit awkward, especially if he turns up with arm candy.
Hotel Mala Racha:
Lorenza insists that Ric & Sofia multitask the paternity suit and the divorce proceedings. Fab says she can take everything but the tattoos; she says he can see the kid whenever; Ric says with all this agreement they'll be divorced in no time. (Who IS their client, exactly? Oh, never mind. My beanie must have slipped. It's been windy.)
Bufete Ibarra:
Carlos tells Nancy to stick to Javier like glue and ensure that his focus remains on the right gangster. I don't think that's how focus works with Nancy, but Carlos doesn't seem to understand her M.O. More fool he.
After seeing the news about La Bestia, Carlos rings up El Ciego and demands to know why he wasn't informed that El Gringo had been located. El Ciego hangs up on him. I never trust a guy who drinks tequila in the middle of the day with his feet on the table while chewing with his mouth open and wearing dark glasses indoors, but I guess that's just me.
Back in Baja:
Sofia gets off the phone with her Mom, and Ric persuades her by means of a totally inappropriate shoulder caress to confide in him. She tearfully confesses that she's distraught over Camila's condition but feels she has to remain strong. He suggests they get a referral to a specialist from Nicolas so they can find out what to expect. (So now they're "they" all of a sudden. As UA says, it must be the sound of the waves.) She gives a small smile over his shoulder as they embrace.
Back at Ibarra:
Tellez calls Alan repeatedly, but Alan won't take his calls. We know this because Tellez's name AND photo appear on Alan's phone, against a nice foreshadowy background of the Road to Nowhere. Tellez eventually shows up at the office and "bumps into" Carlos, but Alan intercepts him before he can do too much damage. The dirty lawyer demands even more money and threatens to spill to Carlos that Alan was the murderer. (How does he know it was Alan? Surely he didn't confess. DAMN THIS WIND.) They agree to meet in some remote location at 10 p.m. for the handoff, proving once and for all that Tellez is literally Too Dumb to Live.
Back at Vega:
Lorena brings Gus coffee to thank him for driving her home from Juan's housewarming. (She's all buttoned up again after yesterday's plunge into the Vega dress code.) He declines her offer of help on his case, so she grabs a pile of folders and chirps, "Let me file for you!" This is probably not a euphemism. The girl really does seem to love filing.
A heartbroken Juan seeks advice from Gus about Fer. Gus sequentially tells him not to give up, to distract himself, and to grow up. Not sure what the message is supposed to be here, other than not to ask Gus for advice.
Around town:
* Paula and Jaime talk to the grave. Is that a bingo square? It should be.
* Susana casually pries into Juan's love life while doing distracting things with her cookie. She needn't have bothered with the cookie trick: he's oblivious as a wombat, as usual.
* Bitchy receptionist remains bitchy. She has an eyebrow war with Sofia, but it's a draw.

Was Lorena seriously flirting with Gus? Oy vey
Gotta hand it to Ric and Sofia for being persistent with their case.
Recap. And funny too.
" Gus sequentially tells him not to give up,to distract himself and to grow up". not sure what the message is supposed to be here, other than not to ask Gus for any advice". That had me laughing out loud. Gus is such a serious guy since the wife and son got
Murdered. That's understandable. Had he been this way before would his wife
And son still be alive? Who knows.
I don't think Paula will ever get over Loosing her daughter. It's good Jaime
Is staying with her. She might start to think she has no reason to live and
To off herself. Jaime looks kinda afraid for her mental state.
I'd like to see what the deal is with that Bitchy receptionist. She acts like She hates ric and sofia.
I want to see the look on nick's face when he sees his babyboy's moma. And I
Want to see what's cookin in vicky's shocked brain now that her future mom
Inlaw has made an appearance. We wont see this again til Tuesday. Ok then,in the meantime:
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY YALL!
Blue, you always make me laugh. The Vega dress code! Talking to a Grave being a bingo square! "Let me file for you" not being a euphemism! Good stuff.
Has the DNA result come back already? Sounds like it was positive? And now Ric and Sofia are heading into "they" territory? And Roberto's mom is in the picture? Sometimes I feel like a tn can move so slowly, but then you read a re-cap a week ahead and realize you've got some binge watching to do.

They agree to meet in some remote location at 10 p.m. for the handoff, proving once and for all that Tellez is literally Too Dumb to Live.
Amen, also loved the cookie fiddling which was unnecessary with oblivious dolt Juan.
Did you get in trouble in grade school for being a wise-off? Whatever...sure works for me. Thanks.
I have a feeling that this will spark a major argument between Roberto and Nicolas. I also agree that Lucia may not be all she seems at this point; Helena Rojo has played both good and evil with equal skill. This will distract Roberto for a while from his pursuit of Victoria. Maybe he will get a new case as well.
We have a number of people with fractured families here:
Alonso: Wife died of cancer ten years ago, adult children live abroad. Now moving on with Lourdes.
Paula: Divorced multiple times, recently lost only daughter and one long-time friend. Needs to grieve and recover, currently with help of the father of her daughter.
Gustavo: Family murdered; currently recovering in second family (the firm). May just about be ready to date.
Ricardo: Children living abroad, widowed mother living elsewhere in Mexico, recently lost fiancee; currently coping.
Sofia: Father died years ago, mother currently deteriorating from Alzheimer's disease. Seeking love.
Roberto: Recently encountered long-estranged mother, lives with womanizing father, still in love with Victoria
Juan: Has loving widowed mother who needs a job or a hobby. Recently lost nice girlfriend, currently the target of a gold digger.
Javier:: Unknown. Probably still suffering from a very bad breakup.
Carlos: Parents died when he was young, so raised by uncle and aunt. About to discover that his cousin is his worst enemy. Not yet recovered from loss of former fiancee, currently the prey of two female sharks.
Victoria and Adrian seem to both have come from loving families although we've never met any of their relatives.
Made me laugh,"Juan:Has loving widowed mother, who needs a job or a hobby. Recently lost nice girlfriend, currently the target of gold digger."
Susana does need to do something other than tryin to control her grow up son's life. She Could go to WalMart &
Be a greeter, oh wait they don't do that anymore. She can make sure people
Get a basket or buggy when they come in the store. Or she could date a guy.
If nick wasnt such a horny toad they could give it a go. Who am I kidding?
Thanks Urban.
I didn't catch all that Roberto's mom said, but I don't believe Nick was any great shakes as a husband. He was down home with threesomes as soon as his beloved Astrid(?) moved on with her brother. Kudos to Roberto for hearing his mom out.
Last season, I thought Juan's mom would start her own catering biz, but nope.
I really appreciate how the producers are casting some well-known Primer Mexican Actors, just waiting for Eric del Castillo now.
I'm on the side that feels Helena Rojo has a secret agenda. Hopefully, Victoria will be there to help bring Roberto back down to earth and heal from whatever injury she causes.
I really think that Susanna should start a catering business if she has the energy to do it. I don't think she drives so she would need a partner who does. Or write a cookbook.
Not sure that Victoria is what Roberto needs. Both of them have too much baggage.
