you are so cool.
Telemundo is also filming a comedy, "100 días para enamorarnos", (in case the Exatlon people get too tired).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100_d%C3%ADas_para_enamorarnos
I'm currently watching El Sultan, "Magnificent Century", on youtube, nixing Telemundo.
I have one question about "Soltero Con Hijas." Laura Flores was listed among the cast members. Some years ago, I think she moved over to Telemundo. Has she left Telemundo, or is it possible that "Soltero Con Hijas" is a Telemundo offering?
Interesting that Telemundo continues to focus on the narcovelas, but Univision/Televisa seem to be going in a more classic Telenovela direction. The upcoming Uni/visa offerings all look interesting, so there might not be a telenovela break for me when the disastrous Hijas ends.
Thank you again!
I'll be looking forward to seeing "Rubi" & looks like "Enemigo" will NOT have a happy ending.
Jarifa, "lighter fare" will be very welcome this coming year. The crime/narco dramas were a little on the heavy side and while I enjoy a crime drama once in a while, I can only take so much.
Deb, thank you so much for the info on "100 días para enamorarnos." I'll add it to the page as soon as I can.
Juanita, sources indicate that Laura Flores would be returning to Televisa since back in spring of this year. She was back with Televisa even prior to "Soltero Con Hijas" as a main character in "Mi Corazon No Se Equivoca," which aired on Univision this past summer.
Doris, yes, this did take some time as I had to research to make sure the information was as accurate as possible. There were some series that I left out because I couldn't find at least two sources that confirmed them. Included in those are some daytime shows for Univisión. One is “Esta Historia Me Suena” (This Story Sounds Familiar) which is a drama in which stand-alone episodes address family and youth issues, featuring a song that inspires the episode’s storyline. The plot leads to reflection between parents and children to find a way to solve these problems in everyday life. The song accompanies and supports the narrative.
Another new Univisión series is Desde el Jardín (From the Garden), another drama where a flower shop serves as the backdrop to every episode, taking viewers inside the lives of the customers and the challenges they face. All episodes of this series are set in a flower shop. The plants in the store are the catalytic elements to tell us the lives of customers and the problems they face. The relationship between human nature and the nature of plants and flowers plays an important role in each program and its outcome. The characters in the florist are: Dalia, the owner's daughter, young and enthusiastic; Celestino, a funny and witty boy, and Doña Emma, an older woman with vast knowledge of herbalism and gardening. They will interact with the protagonists of each episode, changing their destiny.
For Telemundo, I read that "Falsa Identidad" would come back for a second season where Diego (Luis Ernesto Franco) and and Isabel (Camila Sodi) must return to Mexico; and this forces them to continue seeing each other as well as their enemies.
Again, these three other shows were announced only one time and it was back in May. No other information could be found.
Steve, I have yet to see a narco drama that has a truly happy ending...at least not one like "Y Mañana Sera Otro Día Mejor" where EVERYONE (except Malicio) was redeemed and happy.
I have a feeling that actors are all free agents now and there is no more studio system. I don't know whether this is good or bad.
The proposed new El Privilegio de Amar doesn't sound a thing like the 1998 story. That's one that should be left alone.
Has Camila Sodi ever played a nasty girl? If not, I wonder....
More later. I have to catch up to what I haven't seen since Thursday, especially now that El Dragon will be in double episodes next week.
But you did. And as always, exceptionally well.
If airing at 10, I already know I won't be watching Rubi. While I wish it well, I think my remembrance of the original with Barbara Mori, Santamarina and Rulli will be good comfort.
Jose Ron is everywhere, isn't he? I'm happy for his success but it would be nice to see a few other actors given a chance for a lead. Happy Daniel Arenas is back though.
Interesting (and sad) there appears to be no Colunga, Salinas or Yanez. Relieved that Cesar Evora will be around. Laura Flores was always a favorite of mine while with Televisa...I think the chances of Adela Noriega returning to TNs at this point are slim but...If that happened, it would likely only be in a lead role...
As Carla Estrada is producing El Privilegio de Amar I suspect it will be fabulous.
Rgv Chick, thank you for doing this - a great read and a lot to look forward to.
Diana
Thanks, Urban, for your remark about the demise of the studio system. I've been wondering about that.
And thanks, again, RgvChick, for the info about Laura Flores and, especially, for mentioning the possibility of a second season for "Falsa Identidad." I enjoyed season 1, being a fan of Luis Ernesto Franco since seeing him as Rodrigo in "Bajo el mismo cielo."
UA, I too was surprised that “El Privilegio de Amar” sounds nothing like the 1998 version. In an interview, Carla Estrada explained that she was keeping to the “essence of the story,” but I don’t recognize any of the plot. Instead of a remake, I wish they would come up with a sequel. If it were up to me it could be 20 years later; and the story would revolve around Cristina’s and Victor Manuel’s children and their love woes. And it would be wonderful if Adela Noriega and Rene Strickler would be reprise there roles! ...But that’s just my wishful thinking :-)
Diana, yes, Jose Ron does seem to be quite popular as a lead all of a sudden. BTW, Jorge Salinas was listed as a supporting actor in”Te Doy La Vida;” so one out of three isn’t bad. Back when I first started to research the 2020 TNs, I almost jumped out of my seat when I saw Fernando Colunga listed as an cast member for “ Mas Fuerte Que El Viento,” but then my bubble was quickly burst when, the next time I checked the cast listing, Cristian de la Fuente’s name appeared in place of Fernando’s...so Boo-hoo-hoo
Juanita, I also liked “Falsa Identidad” and I sure hope the second season comes to fruition. As soon as I “hear” anything about it, I will let you know.
What a fabulous post. I really appreciate your taking the time to compile such a detailed list.
'El maleficio" was produced by the great Ernesto Alonso. I will definitely give this one a try. Along with El jardín. Not too sure about Christian de Fuente, as I'm not a big fan. And definitely I'm sick of José Ron, and even skipped Ringo. I can't understand Televisa's propensity for casting the same actors over and over again and in one novela right after another.
The others, particularly the comedies, hold no interest for me. Also, I'm not a follower of narco-novelas except for El Dragón as it seems less violent, less cartel-driven than others, and IMO tells the narco story from a different perspective than others.
I can't imagine El privilegio de amar with only 25+/- episodes. It's saving grace may well be Carla Estrada's producdor talent. IMO, one of the greatest producers in my telenovela watching days. Why oh why can't she give us one of her Telenovelas de Época?
And I've read very unflattering reviews of Rubí. Mostly the casting of the main protagonist. I didn't see the original, so I'm no one to judge.
I read that Telemundo was trying to get out of narco-novelas as they appeared, to some I guess, to be losing their appeal.
I'm watching Médicos right now and will not spoil the story for others.
I think I liked PASL since it was a legal-themed novela, a departure from the typical novela.
Thank you for posting this, and I look forward to seeing which ones Caray recaps.
Have some very interesting stories to look forward. But,I will not be lookin forward to watchin ruff ones with the drugs cartels. But some have peaked my interest. Iam really lookin forward to
My favorite comin back "AMORE ETERNO"
Now thats a zinger right there.
I'll check them out.
Thank you Ms Chick for the post. This
Will be a good switch from the happy happy joy joy of all three hallmark
Networks and lifetime, ion and Up.
See Ya on the patio.
Happy New Year patio!!!!
A feast, por cierto. How to choose, how to choose....there are actors in each of the offerings I would love to watch: Jorge Salinas, Emanuel Palomares, Azela Robinson, Margarita Magana, Emanuel Orenday (sultry, sexy Lino in Sin Tu Mirada), Erica Buenfil (hopefully in a meatier role than in LeyII), ok and even Danilo Carrera and his sweet smile), but the stories and some main actors only so-so.
I agree. Jose Ron is being overused--too visible. Ever since LQNPA, I just haven't been able to see him as a leading man with much sex appeal.
I think I'll tune in to Rubi and El Privilegio de Amar for the entire run.
I can't imagine what Salvador Mejia is going to turn out with Mas Fuerte Que el Viento, but I love a mystery--especially if Cristian gets a role. He owes us another one after En Tierras Salvajes (truly a waste of all those terrific actors).
Again, a big thank you for all this work, RGV. It makes organizing my daily life around telenovelas so much easier.
Anita, have you taken a look at Ringo with Jose Ron? If not, I encourage you to give it a try.
Sorry the Daniela Castro, Me Declaro Culpable (or something like that) isn't coming to Univision.
Kelly
For some reason, I recognized "Lino" right away..maybe the name just stuck to me, quien sabe.
I was really impressed with the cast from "Mas Fuerte que El Viento." If those really end up being the cast, it'll be aTN that I will definitely watch.
Niecie, I saw Camila Sodi in "Falsa Identidad" too. It was the first time I saw her and I too think she did a pretty good job.
Kelly, I've had enough of drugs and murders too; "light and traditional" sounds really good to me.
Soltero con hijas appears to fit that description. For ridiculous- they have a character named El Calamal. ROFL
andy (the lurker one)
andy (the lurker one)
Feliz Año Nuevo to everyone!
Paloma, thanks for stopping by.
Andy, I’m trying to figure out what “calamal “ means; the closest thing I found was “calamar” which means “squid.” Juan Vidal plays that character And he certainly doesn’t look like a squid :-)
La Paloma and everyone else—
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I was a very active follower of this blog (and helped recap a few, including LQNPA and Eva Luna) but life got in the way. (I was a caregiver for a family member with dementia.)
I missed the good times that I remember from CarayCaray and particularly miss the increased Spanish comprehension I gleaned from watching the novelas!
I'm especially looking forward to the novela with Jorge Salinas (with Jose Ron in the lead). And whatever else 2020 may give us!
So nice to see some familiar names here still. I'm now trying to watch Un Poquito Tuyo (because Jorge Salinas!) and will see where to go from there.
(I was Elvira under my old blogger username—I have to figure out how to log back into that account!)
la gata, Mi mirado tien familia, Medicos.. Corazon Indomable a s o. Earlier we got an English version when we asked for translating but not any longer. Do you know why?
Regards from Sweden
TELEMUNDO is now announcing it as "PRONTO." Of course this could still mean weeks away.
We have no power or influence to have telenovelas dubbed into English. The best you can hope for is to get Closed Captions or Subtitles. That's how we get some of the Turkish offerings.
Barring that, you are welcome to access and follow along with Caray recaps (if we indeed recapped them). The titles are all listed on the side-bar.
"Medicos: Linea de Vida" is, indeed, replacing "Amor Eterno." The Gran Estreno will be July 14th, Tuesday.
As for what's replacing "Vida" and "CTNHD," the only thing that I have seen promos for is "Vencer el Miedo" but it supposedly will run at 7PM (E).
I've also started to see promos for "Dulce Ambición" which is a Brazilian TN that is said to have been very popular. According to Univision, however, it will be coming "pronto;" so I can't even guess as to which TN it will replace.
AnonFri, I had heard about "Amor Prohibido" (another Turkish TN) starting sometime in the fall. It first aired in Turkey back in 2008 and is also a produced by Kerem Catay. It sounds interesting!
