El Dragón #50, 12/10/19: Ishiro to the rescue!
Labels: dragon
Last night's episode was an adrenaline rush and there was actual payoff - the truth about Valentin's traitorous ways finally revealed. Finally. At least they didn't save this for the final week. Ishiro's action sequence with Valentin was pretty good. Valentin dragged Isabel with him in this mess and then didn't seem to care he got her killed. Then he asks Ishiro if he has a final message for Chisca (which he presumably will give to her in hell). Low-life scumbag til the bitter end. Looks like Chisca's gonna make it though....
So Miguel ordered Ishiro to kill Valentin when he found him. First time he has ever ordered a murder directly. Can't really say I blame him... On another note, and I only say this because this is fiction, but Miguel has had plenty of reason to have Epig killed a long time ago, and it stretches credibility that he hasn't truly retaliated against him in a while despite Epig causing maximum damage every chance he gets, including the office exploding. The writers need to keep the main villain viable til the end, I get that, but it's just not believable that Miguel lets him get away with everything.
And then there's the promo at the end of the episode. Naturally, El Dragón will segue from violence and adrenaline to pretty words and romance lol. Adela looked stunning in that red dress.

Yep Valentine was a scumbag right to the bitter end. We did not see Ishiro retrieving the sample, I assume he does, though.
So Chisca, do you believe us now? Did this near death experience provide a life changing Ishiro-Girlfriend-Qualifying wake up call? And you Miguel? Open your eyes for something more than mirrors.
I was kind of on the fence about Isabel, Mrs Not Val, but I suppose it doesn't matter anymore. I knew she was 'sort of' in on Val's evil plans, but always semi forgave her thinking she was fooled too, or because she was hot. Woofers think that way.
If Isabel had made it, she could be Miguel's new Chemist, because if she was smart enough to leave the airstrip address on her abandoned phone, she can surely decode some enzymes and molecules.
It appears Aw Heck and the Claw are about to add another name to their growing list of dead bodies they are indirectly responsible for. I actually thought ePig was planning on doing the deed right there in the visitation cell. Works for Peligros if I remember right.
So how many times did Chisca die last night? I thoughrt she was a goner when her last words to her Bro were about Not Val, like deathbed confession. Will she go from the hospital straight to Garza Detention Hall for stealing the Ephiline and conspiracy against her own family?
Then in the ambulance she was all Chatty Cathy. I wa waiting for her to go achk..patoo and spit up the bullet onto Miggy. Then things turned grave again in the Hospital. Oh Well, she made it I guess.
Becky, I wondered the same, and assume that Miguel does not know the extent of all eOink's crimes against him. Will things change when he sorts out that Zaragosa was pigged?
Becky: I noticed that Valentin's last words were Ishiro's complicity in the conspiracy too. Hmmm..
Kirby: Chisca is still the spoiled little bratty expletive she's always been. She'll get back on the cocaine in a few weeks.
We didn't see Ishiro retrieve the vial, so that is what we need to look for tonight. If he didn't or if it broke during the fight any police investigation will be dangerous to Ishiro and Miguel after this. Ishiro had better leave the country before the police are informed about this. I hope he has his plane ticket.
It's a good thing that NotValid is dead because my money said that Chisca would still have gone back to him. She needs to be in a psych ward. I will need evidence that this cured a death wish she doesn't know she had.
No matter what happens tonight I think we're stuck with the Pig until the end.
I suspected that the writers were setting stoic, loyal Ishiro up to save Chis from herself. I suppose we all know people who are so damaged that they are thicken worst enemies.
I don't know if the red thread statement Mig made is Japanese. I have read about a belief in Kabala that sometimes two people find each other and their bond is so strong because they were once just one soul. Hence, the term soulmates. I believe this is true . Sometimes ,the strong attraction between two people can not be explained..it just is. we I believe that Kabala followers wear a red thread on their wrist .Maybe this will be what happens between Ishiro and Chis.
I did NOT expect Notval to shot Chis in cold blood....maybe if she had refused to give him the prototype, but to shoot her just 'cuz? WOW. UA< "It's a good thing that NotValid is dead because my money said that Chisca would still have gone back to him." My money would be there too!
Kirby, "So how many times did Chisca die last night?" Geez, the girl has more lives than a cat! I did notice that her internal bleeding miraculously stopped on its own . She was spitting up blood right after she was shot, but in the ambulance she only had a trickle of dry blood on her chin.
Becky, " Ishiro's action sequence with Valentin was pretty good" I was quite impressed too! His karate movements are so much better than Miguel's. And Cynthia, I too wondered why the fight between Ishiro and NotVal was as long as it was. Victor even knocked Ishiro down! Now that was unbelievable to me.
Anon 10:27, "I think they're setting it up for Ishiro to be Chisca's savior..." unfortunately that does seem to be the case. And dang it, Chis is going to end up with the galan of this show. NOT FAIR!
I’m glad to see Valentin put down. And who better than Ishiro to do it? But I also feel cheated that I didn’t get to see Mig confront his old friend and that Chisca didn’t get a chance to get in a few licks of her own.
I don’t know why this took so long. The other guys were bigger and Ishiro took them out in about one punch and a kick. This seemed to last a lot longer.
Cynthia, ITA. No way would Val be a good enough fighter to last that long against Ishiro. And that dummy Val was grinning as if he were a supervillain, instead of a ratfink lucky to befriend Mig and his troubled sister at the right time.

P.S. I think Miguel might redeem himself in the romance and true love aspect of a galán. Even after the explosion and admitting he wuv'ed Adela, he still would not commit to a real relationship with her and she called him on it before he left on his Miami & Spain trip. The promo for tonight is the first time he says he wants a shot at a real relationship with her. Of course, for this to work on any level, he must give up his he-ho ways, even if those escapades of business+pleasure mean nothing to him as he claims, and he has to commit to Adela 100% Also, will he tell her about crazy Maria? Ha.
Maybe her Sis will get her straightened out. Put her playfulness in Adela and wowzers! Migalicious' wandering ways would be over for sure.
Ohhh I didn't immediately associate Miguel's narrative in the promo with Kabala but I should have. It makes the most sense and fits with his meditation practices I guess. I've seen several celebrities, including some from Latin America, wearing a red thread on their wrist.
Here's Miguel's exact quote loosely? translated, now that I've found a clip of the promo:
Miguel: "The legend tells that the people who are destined to meet each other are bonded together by a red thread. A lot of time can pass by before they meet, and sometimes there's even a great distance between them, This thread is infinite because its owner is destiny."
Adela: "Do you believe in this red thread?"
Miguel: "Yes. I love you. And I want to attempt a relationship with you because you are the woman who's brought meaning back into my life."

Thank you Cynthia! No need for excuses. The episode and the recap were both so fantastic. At long last SOMEONE is getting just desserts. You brought it all back to life.
Excuse me, Sr. e-Pig, since when do you need to get your man out of prison to take care of his family--except that it's a plot propeller. Didn't he SWEAR he would take care of Braulio's family if Braulio took the fall for Natalia?
Excuse me, Sr. Miggy, since when do you have the right to order someone to kill someone else. Is it just that you didn't have time to do it yourself or you didn't want to get your hands bloody and stay true to your Japanese upbringing. Self-defense is ok, but no beheadings, right?
Excuse me, Sr. Miggy, since when do you call Val when you know your sister has been shot. Don't you call an ambulance immediately? Why wait until you get there and order Ishiro to do it. Geesh, tn folks just don't know the proper sequence to follow in times of grave physical harm.
Those were my only beefs with the episode. Can't wait for the red thread in the red dress tonight. Could it be that Mig's near death experience at the hand of Crazy Mary all of a sudden will turn him into a monogamous, home by 6, vacations in Mazatlán kind of guy?
Kirby--Thanks for your amusing sideswipes at Chisca. I also thought she was a goner, or should have been. We could have soldiered on without her--as long as she said Val shot her. He could have figured out the rest when he discovered the sample missing.
The Red Thread of Fate (simplified Chinese: 姻缘红线; traditional Chinese: 姻緣紅線; pinyin: Yīnyuán hóngxiàn), also referred to as the Red Thread of Marriage, and other variants, is an East Asian belief originating from Chinese legend. According to this myth, the gods tie an invisible red cord around the Finger of those that are destined to meet one another in a certain situation as they are "their true love".[1] Often, in Japanese and Korean culture, it is thought to be tied around the little finger. According to Chinese legend, the deity in charge of "the red thread" is believed to be Yuè Xià Lǎorén (月下老人), often abbreviated to Yuè Lǎo (月老), the old lunar matchmaker god, who is in charge of marriages.
The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break. This myth is similar to the Western concept of soulmate or a destined partner.
I think I've waited for this entire novela just to see Ishiro put Valentin down in such a gorgeously, slow and torturously way. I was cheering at each and every kick and punch. Just disappointed that Ishiro missed connecting a couple of times. But then Muhammad Ali missed a few also. Ishiro's jaw was clinching so strong I thought he'd break the bone. And the blood gushing out of NoVal's mouth was a sight to behold.
Cynthia, I'm so glad the scene was so long, I was able to enjoy NoVal's demise that much longer.
Hey you guys, would it be too much to ask that advance promos at the end of each episode not be mentioned because some of us aren't given the option of seeing what's coming up next? I just thought the 'no spoiler' zone would apply.. Am I wrong?
Cynthia. That was an action packed recap you gave. You had me enjoying the episode all over again.
I didn't actually see who ended up with the vial of Efilina. For some reason I thought I saw Val toss it over to Isabel before they left. Or am I wrong? Felt sorry for Isabel being thrown to her death like that. But being involved with Val--he ruins everything he touches.
Kirby, you make me laugh. Already missing La Loca Mary?
We shall see what transpires tonight...
