DAYTIME TNs (#2): Hijas de la Luna…y Mas - Week of Feb. 10, 2020

Good Day, Caraymates!

Welcome to pg. 2 of our afternoon delight! “Hijas” is over and done with “POR FIN!” but I’m still posting the page to allow for post commentary…and to allow for the different celebrations that the patio may want to have. Congratulations to Judy, Doris, and Anita for soldiering on and providing such extraordinary recaps. You all should receive Medals of Honor, but since I don’t have that authority, you’ll have to settle for flowers, chocolates, Oreos and wine…or feel free to BYOT (bring your own treats) to the party!!

We have “Me Declaro Culpable” starting on Monday, Feb. 17th, so if someone would like to provide some info on that, you are very welcome to do so. Doris had provided a link to “Stevie’s Notes” some time back. It’s an excellent resource that gives very good info on “Culpable.” Here is the link in case someone missed it when Doris posted it.

Please remember that ANY daytime novela can be discussed and everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Friendly reminder to PLEASE put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for. (You can shorten the title to one word, i.e., “Hijas”)

Just re-read Stevey's column. It was amazing how much I had forgotten (since I was his fierce editor). A word of CAUTION: If you want to get the gist of the story AS WE GO ALONG, DON'T read past the ARROW.

I ended up skimming Sin Tu Mirada to see how close he was, but stopped when I read about Gonzalo Pena being unacceptable in the galan role. Regardless of the distasteful comments he made, he dodged a big Wrecking Ball in that tn. Instead, it was handed to Osvaldo de León, our wimpy lead, Beto.

To tide us over to the beginning of Culpable, I will be publishing the CarayCaray Lexicon for the Patio of Lowered Expectations. Stay tuned.

Anita - don't read past what arrow?

After reading Stevey's essay on this show, I am just so very glad Diego Olivera did not get the role and that Juan Soler did!

I loved Soler in Reina de Corazones. I'm totally burned out on Olivera. Completely. Nothing left but ashes.

Oy, Sabine Moussier doing what she does best(?), playing a BSC character. Been there, seen her do that. 😳

Doris--
This one (it was highlighted in blue, but didn't transfer to this screen). It appears in the pp right after the link that no longer works:

->The central figure in this story (meaning the person connecting everyone in the story), Franco, is NOT a chiseled guapo a la William Levy or Cristián de la Fuente, nor a bombshell heroina, but what I guess we could call a “mature” galán.

Anita - looking on my iPad, there is an accented a (á) where the arrow should be.

Aha--The accented "a" showed up on the comments page and I changed it here. The arrow in the original post was done in a Word doc and shows up plainly on my desktop. Well, can't say I didn't TRY to warn folks. It's not a bad spoiler. It might even be helpful to sort out all the characters and their faults right off the bat.

Thanks for posting the link again Fierce Editor Anita. It's amazing how much I can forget from one week to the next...make that one day to the next. This one really looks promising. Good cast and juicy plot.

WOULD YOU DO US THE HONOR OF RECAPPING THE FIRST EPISODE?

Your ability to distill in fine detail would be a great help for the initial outing, where all the characters are new to us. As I recall you always had the cast and characters well in mind, and duly listed in the past. Always knew what was what and where it was headed from the get-go.

Judy: I'm going to be intrigued to find out who's on the cast 🤔

JudyB--
How can I refuse such a plea (honor? HA). If no one minds a late posting, I'll head for the TV with legal pad and pen in hand at 3:00 on Monday.

Wonderful. Wunderbar! Maravilloso! Great! And many thanks ANITA. You ARE the best at detail, hands down. We all know it.

Feeling very lucky to have you and Doris on the team. "Many hands make light work".

Here is the character list and the actors for reference. I haven't divulged who the antagonists are, but if you read Stevey's notes, you kind of know. You can also guess by who in the cast has traditionally been an antagonist.

Executive Producer: Angelli Nesme Medina
No. of Episodes: 62 (which means it will last well into May)

Franco Urzúa, successful and prestigious lawyer (Juan Soler)
Roberta Monroy de Urzúa, his wife (Daniela Castro)
Natalia Urzúa, their teenage daughter (Irina Baeva)
Mauro Monroy, Roberta's father (Enrique Rocha)
Julián Soberón, Natalia's boyfriend (Pedro Moreno)
Paolo Leiva Ruiz, some way will be connected to Natalia (Juan Diego Covarrubias)
Alba Castillo, the woman in prison Franco ends up representing (Mayrin Villanueva)
Ingrid Duenas, Natalia's aunt (Sabine Moussier)
Gael Ahumada (Alejandro Ávila)
Tiziano Castolo (Ramiro Fumazoni)
Katia Romo (Alejandra Garcia)
Bianca Olmedo, Alba's friend and confidant (Lisset)
Julieta (Margarita Magana)
Amairani – Luciana
Queta (Arlette Pacheco)
Raúl (Alejandro Aragón)
Dr. Mendizabal (Ricardo Vera)
Dante (Mariano Palacios)
Emanuel (Ramsés Alemán)
Celia (Bibelot Mansur)
Olga (Amanda Libertad)
Gabriel (Mikel Mateos)
Pedro (Christian Vega)
Javier (Marco Mendez)

This isn't the complete cast--when they get down to single first names and don't have their own Wikipedia page, I stop.

I've been re-watching Mi Corazon es Tuyo and loving hating Isabel (Mayrin Villanueva) and then comparing her with her role in Mujeres de Negro, briefly in Corazon que Miente and now Rubi. She's quite a versatile actress, I now have to admit.

DECLARO

62 episodes is a nice length, 20 less than HIJAS' 82 episodes and, frankly, HIJAS could have lasted 22 episodes and that would have been sufficient.

HIJAS
Even though we mocked all the bikini-clad gals and shirtless guys in beach scenes, 22 episodes with more frolicking on the beach would have warmed us all. So would more of Petunia. Although watching JuanO and his back troubles brought most of us back to reality. All in all, it was fun to romp through this with our Petite Patio Pals. We all know that the worse the tn, the better the recaps. JudyB and Doris are masters at that.

Anita - you are also a master at fun snarky recaps and recraps. ♥️

Well, thank you Doris. It doesn't come easy for me (guiltily admits).
Me Declaro Culpable is definitely not a comedy nor does it sound like a dramedy. Hope Susanlynn is drawn to this one as a straight drama--and there's got to be some romance in there somewhere--we've had the teaser from Stevey.
