Imperio de Mentiras, #18, 10/16/20: Little Red Riding Hood, Meet WOLF
Greetings, Imperio Patio!
Princess Juju had a troublesome night last night so I'm filling in, but you're only getting bullet points. Please feel free to add or correct whatever I missed. And a BIG thank you to Kirby for sending me his notes!!
- We start at the offices, with Fabricio inviting Elisa to a lunch...only to discuss business. After they take off, Leo comes in asking to see El. Fer very kindly tells him where El is and with whom...and quite willingly tells him where he can find them.
- When Leo finds El and Poodle Hair out on what looks like a date to any sane person, he crashes the lunch, El invites him to join them and Fab begs off. Leo asks what happened the night before. El lies about why she didn't show up to dinner...said Vic had a big fight with sisters. Leo tells El that he saw her hugging Fab. Hopeofully he sees that he is ---WAS--falling for the Bubonic Plague. Run Leo Run. She can lie with the best of them.
- Nieves gets Scario's number from dead Julia’s phone and CALLS HIM, trying to convince Scario to hire her other daughter. Scario not interested, but Neives insists so Scario will think about it and will meet with them. Special place in hell for you Stone Face Nieves.
- JL orders Adri and Mario toy
investigate Aug's accounts and transfers that might have been made to Rosa Terán (Julia' alias that she used working the artifact
business). He asks Adri and Mario to keep the investigation under wraps and NOT
share with Leo.
- Later that night, El looks at Leo’s pic…she needs and misses Leo. She sent messages but he didn't respond. I don't like her anymore.
- El continues to spew out her lies and complains to Leo that there are lots of problems at home and at the company. Leo replies that he has his own problems too.
- Fab returns to the company and FerNasty shows pretending not to know how Leo found them when I,t of course, was she who gave Leo the info. Tells him El probably planned to have Leo see her with Fab...because El loves to be the center of attention .
- Sonia and Mop admiring their swell 6 million gift, with a 6million dollar man just sitting up there free to fall and break an arm off.
- Mop tells Sonia that this has to be Aug's and Eww’s side business and that El has no idea ...but he thinks Vic knew about it.
- Prune face Gilly Head Popo scolding JL who gives him what they have on Julia...except for the videos and transcripts.
- El tells Scario that she already made the money transfers.
- Dario’s mom returns to her house
- Vic tries to get
Majo out of bed, but Majo doesn't want to go downstairs or outside. Blames
everything that is happening on her father. Majo
insists that she has a right to know the truth and asks what Vic knows. Vic tells her that Julia worked with Aug and they
became lovers. That's why Majo was kidnapped and her kidnappers probably killed
her father. Vic is NOT letting this lover’s shit go is she? Wonder what secrets
she has.
- Prune face Gilly warns Eww that things are get too close for comfort since the cops have so much info on Julia; they are bound to make a connection to Ewww. Ewww orders prune face Gilly to close the investigation NOW! So what gives Ewww the absolute power over Gil and Scario?
- Stone Face has the sacrificial lamb Clara prettied up. Anything to keep Ma from actually having to get a job and work.
- Pop doesn't want Clara to get another job. Prefers to sell the house to get money for treatment.
- Ren take El to see her new apartment which includes a nursery. She gets upset because El suggested that she wait on getting pregnant...until she gets treatment
- Adri and Mario discover that all their files on Julia were locked so they can't access them. Gilly shut down everything again because they are out of the investigation since they were allowing Leo to be involved
- Pop tells Leo that he thinks Stone face is getting Clara into bad business. He thinks Nieves did the same thing to Julia. Leo asks if Stone face had something to do with Julia's death. Pop doesn't know and asks Leo to help him protect Clara. Good for Pop, I take back my death wish from the patio.
- El suggests that they get Majo a psych. Vic refuses. Vic prefers ReNutty stay cray cray for obvio reasons
- Mop trying to sell the sculpture and meets some broker who will help him look for a buyer
- A scene where El convinces Majo that Scario was threatening to kill her...MAjo finally believes El…then they kiss and make up. El assures Majo that SHE will solve everything, but she can't call the cops. Yeah Right Wonder Gurl. After El leaves, Majo asks to see Sacrio
- Stone Face and
Clara actually go meet Scario. Scario
tells Stone face and Clara that he knows everything that is happening with them...he’s
had tehm under a microscope. He tells Clara that she doesn't need to do
anything right now but she'd better do everything he says without question. Clara
asks if he killed Julia. He says no... whoever did caused him many problems and
he lost a lot of money
- Adriana showing Leo the receipt for the watch and tells him that Julia was using an alias...and she made several trips to NY. She tells Leo how she got the receipt and that El has the diary. The first Leo has known about Elisa's little Fatal Attraction / Stalker deal stealing it. Leo is not happy...Maybe this will bump Leo out of puppy dog mode.
- Majo sneaks outside to meet Scario. Majo wants nothing to do with Scario. Scario reminds her he did everything to protect her... he risked everything for her. She asks if he killed her father...if he did she will have to report him to the cops. Yup Majo you need to share some of your ideas with your Blonde sister. She asks " why should I believe you?" Scario –“ because I love you. Who put all these ideas into your head? Your sister?, he asks.
- El goes with ReNutty to the new apartment and is discussing Ren's wish to have a baby and the apartment Ren got.
- Then Scario puts his trademark kidnap move on Majo. He grabs her and forces her away with him. Two for two girls!
- Back at Cando Inc. El is questioning whether Mop truly loves Ren. Mop says yes but love for Ren means making love EVERYDAY!
- Out in the Garden / grounds Vic and Ewww are chatting. Vic asks Ewww to help her get a psych for Majo. HUH? She needs his help with that? That's what rich Moms do, Victoria. Ewww professes his long-lived obsession for Vic…then there’s an icky EWWW moment and they kiss!
- Leo shows up at Cando Inc. El comes out expecting warm kisses and puppy dog looks but she gets the bull dog who tells her he is there only on business. He wants her to give him everything she has that belongs to Julia. And you can hear Elisa’s wheels.

Ay Yie Yie another episode of the Bad Hair Bears. Does anyone in this have truly nice hair? Nope. Leo has generic hair, not bad, but does nothing but prove he is not going bald. Adriana, eh so so, Mario, can't even remember if he has hair. Jose Louis, I get so distracted looking to see if anything has germinated or is moving in that beard, I have never noticed his hair.
But then to the main main people, Oh My....Tio Rug, Ugh. Victoria's hair looks like the hair on a department store mannequin. Mojo just always looks unwashed. Scario's hair looks like he cut it himself with his pocket knife, without a mirror. Mop....Mop. Sonia always looks like someone used her as a commode brush and shook her dry. Elisa's whole existence is one neverending Bad Hair Day.
Sexy savy Susana ReNutty and those bangs. Uff. Was the original idea with bangs to cover the forehead for fear that people could otherwise somehow see that it is empty up there?
The Poodle. Dam, just hair overload. Get that shit straightened or cut, or lose the beard. Otherwise you look homeless. Fernanda kinda has Leo hair, serviceable, but you are not sure about touching it.
Toad, Stone Face and the kids, they do not even get rated. But Leo's Mom I at first mistook for his Dad.
We do not even see these people out in the world. Like they are all living inside a huge glass Covid 19 glass sphere.We did see a few kids at school with Leslie, and we saw a waiter or two at restaurants. There is occasionally a maid blurred in the background, but by and large, we only see the main people. Most of the TNs we see them out shiopping, at the gym, the help around the house, etc, but these folks are almost completely isolated. There was that one maid or some lady in a un iform when Eww was checking Sonia's entire body for Hickies.
Like how many people work at Cantdo? Vic, Mop, Fer, Clara, Elisa, now Poodle, big company huh? Must be right next door to Family Dollar with a staff like that.
I am curious how EwwwwGenio got to where we see him now. I hopeo they let us in on those secrets before episode 75. He was Dead Auggie's BFF, has the Chief of Police or whatever Gilly is at his beck and call, employs a gang of thugs and has his estranged son as head Henchman. WTF is with this guy?
So Scario senses that his loyalty serum on Mojo is wearing off and kidnaps her AGAIN for another injection?

About the Covid bubble : the other day I searched online to see how many shows they had filmed before the lockdown started in Mexico. Apparently about 20, give or take a few scenes. So we're about to start watching newer episodes soon. AB was asked in an interview if there have been any kisses and she said yes, but they are all regularly tested. American soaps really do the social distancing part, there IS no kissing or touching, I'm curious to see how novelas handle it. It's worth mentioning that while some novela people have gotten sick while filming, soaps have apparently been spared for now.

I recently heard the expression " She's like a pretty girl who doesnt know she is pretty. " Well, Tio Rug is tbe exact opposite of that. He thinks that he is a lady's man. I wonder if Victoria is going to give him a good slap for that stolen, unwanted kiss .

Hi all, a big thanks for RVG for helping with the recap. As some of you know back in April we started to foster, my little potato is going through a really hard time and last night we were dealing with a ton of school work that was due and that he failed to do during the week, we finally finished at midnight and by then I was DEAD, I also over slept this morning and we barely managed to get up on time to get him to class, distance learning is the pits you guys! I'll be back next week, I hope to be fully rested and ready to go :)
Susanlynn, I heard that some of the actors are using their real life partners, too. The Y&R are using fade to black, shadows and a lot of suggestive glances and sighs. It worked at the beginning, now it's getting hard, since there is no actual touching (except from a couple of actors who are together IRL).
I don't know how novelas could do this, they can bring in Rulli any time as a stand in for Leo, O wouldn't mind :))
Juju, I know what you mean, home school is the worst (when it's not a choice and you're not equiped to deal with it). My girls are too small for any serious school work, but while France was in lockdown I was doing some homework with my 5 year old and it was very hard to keep her focused for more than 10 minutes at a time. More anger and angst last night. I took a deep breath before I started the recap and then...
"Prune face Gilly Head Popo" had me laughing out loud. I wasn't expecting that and like Susanlynn, couldn't be happier you took these sad events and related them with such good humor and insight. Marvelous.
Strewn with pearls including "Yeah Right Wonder Gurl" - just great.
As a grown woman, for her own reasons, altruistic or selfish, I believe Julia made her own choice. I don't know how old Clara is but clearly she is a child. Rather than holding onto her only remaining living child for dear life, Nieves threw her to the wolves. Or wolf. I wholeheartedly agree there is a "Special place in hell for you Stone Face Nieves".
"Hopeofully he sees that he is ---WAS--falling for the Bubonic Plague. Run Leo Run. She can lie with the best of them". I don't want to agree, but I must. Something is definitely off with and/or in Elisa.
And Majo can't get her mojo going. Dario can't turn his nastiness off even though somewhere deep inside he does care for Majo. I still don't understand why he tried to turn her against Elisa. That is of course unless Elisa is guilty. All bets are off.

So will Renata actually move out? And will her no good hubby live long enough to make the move with her???
I still love Leo.

There was trouble in paradise long before Auggie was killed, so Vic may be yearning for some love and attention. I would really like to see her spit and wipe her mouth after the kiss LOL

Diana...Ooooo what if you are onto something with Mysterious Miss E? Maybe we do not know the full story on Elisa. Like we are only seeing the side of events as SHE is telling them. That would scramble everyone's yolks.
Another thing which stood out to me was Scario saying this mess cost him a LOT of money, as though he is making gobs of money somehow here too. My impression was he was simply head goon for Ewwww. He does have a nice , though not expensive, car and pretty teeth. WHY CAN'T HE GET A TEN DOLLAR HAIRCUT? Wait, where were we? Oh yeah, and he was hiding all that cash in the Angel piano.

Until I read all your comments, I hadn’t really focused on everyone’s hair-dos EXCEPT Elisa, a main character, who normally looks beautiful In other TNs:
As many of you are questioning whether there might be some dark stuff about her, I think they deliberately gave her that ridiculous hairdo that (as Nina said), looks like she washed her hair and forgot to comb it out or use a product, which makes her look more innocent and natural and trusting, somehow. Just a thought. In her case, i think that insane “do” is very deliberate.
She is really confusing to me and if i didn’t know her prior excellent work, i would think she is just not a good actor . Her delivery when she is with Leo is so ridiculous- monotone, no inflection, no heart, like she is reading a script to memorize lines. We can sort of guess what these characters might have up their sleeve, but i have NO clue with her, How could they make the main female love interest as a bad guy???

Addendum: i also think the reason some of you dont think Leo is so attractive is due to his eyeballs sticking out too far. For me, his eyes detract from his looks.......but he is cute enough for me....though wish he could grow a few more balls.
