Hey, Peeps! Pray you all are well! Man! What a busy week it’s been! Let’s focus on the healing balm of friendship in the Instituto, something that is sorely needed now to get these good folk through the chaos being visited upon them. Y’all know the drill! Vamanos!
Cinthia is lending a listening ear to Regina who has shared that she fell in love with David. “What he did hurt me very much. I realize he wasn’t going to change, no matter how many times I told him.” Cinthia says that’s his way; don’t be so hard on him. Regina says, “I talked with him a lot, told him he couldn’t be so visceral because one day a big problem would happen and it did. It happened! And now it’s worse because I have so much work and Rene breathing down my collar. He’s checking absolutely everything I do! And now I have nobody to support me, I don’t have David, I don’t have a pareja.” Cinthia tells her she’s been through something similar before and she made it through. Regina’s eyes are sad, a bit vacant. She says this separation hurts a lot more.
Ana reckons herself a friend of David’s. They chat while standing outside. She wonders why he didn’t answer his phone. He repeats that he didn’t want to talk. Well, he’s going to listen to her! Ana offers David the position of Chief of Outpatient Services. He declines; he’s a surgeon. She makes a hard sell: as Chief, he would do all the surgeries generated from OPC patients; increased salary; schedule set to his own liking. David’s affect is not flat, but he is calm and even in his speech and demeanor. He declines again, he’s not sure he can go back to that place. Ana pleads that just because he had a failed relationship, he can’t end his career as a Doctor. David says this probably happened so he could take time to reevaluate his life and see what the next step is. Ana says “Regina turned her back on you but that doesn’t mean you have to trash all the effort and study and experience you’ve gained in medicine!” He says all that is true but he has a problem with his character. “For God’s sake,” Ana says, “I KNOW you; I don’t know why Arturo did what he did; he has his reasons but I do believe in you! I know you! I know who you are! You will have a better position, salary, hours and I will support all your decisions.” David thanks her for thinking of him but he can’t accept the position. Ana won’t give up. “You know how important you are to me. Get Regina out of the equation like she did you and think about your future, please?” Ana says her offer stands and he can call her if he wants to talk, kisses him on the cheek and leaves.
It’s a busy day in the Instituto ER. Regina is left with Pamela and Tania; Art Cinthia and Rafa are in the surgery, Daniel and Luis are sent to the OPC, Marco is caring for patients on the floors. The surgery is for the amputation of the foot of the man whose Daughter treated his diabetes with herbal remedies. It’s an extended PSA for traditional allopathic medicine’s approach to diabetic care. The surgery will turn out well; Art and Cinthia will give discharge instructions that constitute the particulars of the PSA. The Daughter is repentant for following woo woo alternative remedies instead of standard medical practices. She has even signed up for a course for family members of people with diabetes. What is crucial is the conversation in the surgery suite. Art continues to self-righteously proclaim his innocence and David’s making false accusations against him, playing both him and Regina. Cinthia and Rafa defend David, that he wouldn’t play such a game, much less on Regina. Cinthia is worried that Regina is under so much pressure with Rene and now Ana on her case, she could end up being fired. Art says he’s not going to let that happen.
Regina stands outside the Instituto with Gonzalo and the milling crowd of patients’ families and friends who are not allowed inside. Gonzalo is solidly in the zone of optimism as he counsels his good friend and temporarily former colleague, Regina. He lets her unload about the relentless harassment of Rene and now Ana all at a time when she is without support! “I not only lost my work companion, I lost my pareja! She cries that she took away from him the opportunity to work at what he loves in life! Gonzalo says it was a difficult decision; that’s what Chiefs do and David has to understand. She continues teary-eyed that it’s so strange without him and now without David. He gives her a pep talk; don’t give in; she can do it! Gonzalo tells her not to worry; he’s got Alonso Vega on the case of the administrative investigation. Regina asks him to please, please come back to the Instituto. Gonzalo says he’s fighting with everything in him and he’s sure he’ll be back. “If you ever need anything, I’m here in my office,” he says pointing to the pillar against which he often leans. “We can have coffee.” They part with a chuckle and a hug.
Gonzalo does call Alonso who tells him when they get something substantive, he will call. After he hangs up, one of the lawyers, Ricardo, comes in. He’s found something interesting so far in the review of the purchases Gonzalo made during his tenure in the Directorship. When the lights went out and there was no fuel for the generators, Gonzalo paid for the fuel out of his own pocket and didn’t submit an invoice for reimbursement. This demonstrates that he was NOT abusing the resources of the Instituto. Alonso is not a bit surprised. He asks if Ricardo had anything on Dr. Castillo yet. “No, but if that Dr. has anything to hide, we will find it. They then discuss something about the El Ciego case which I didn’t understand. Feel free to chime in! Oh, I did understand that they think El Ciego should go to jail for the rest of his life!
Pamela needs a friend today. Pamela has received the results of the DNA test and is understandably nervous about opening the envelope. She and Tania attend a guy that has somehow gotten his upper body and arm pierced with barbed wire! Ouch! In between calming and giving the patient instructions, Pamela mentions to Tania that she has the results. Miryea watches carefully as they decide it’s quiet enough to quickly go to the common room. Pamela and Tania sit in the slightly darkened room and Pam finally opens the envelope and looks at the results. Her glassy eyes spill over and she gasps. “Carmen is my Mother! No puede ser! It can’t be!” Pamela cries, hyperventilates and gasps, “What am I going to do now?” Tania tells her things happen for a reason and this could be a good thing. Pamela is only physically with Tania and continues from her place of shock, “From the day I found out I was adopted, I never thought about who my mother could be. Just so I could avoid this!” Tania says life put Carmen in her path. “It’s not fair; millions of children want to find who their Mothers are and never succeed and I, who never asked; she appears in my life?” Tania says “No, you didn’t ask, but now you know her.” Pamela says it is all too much, grabs the test results and runs out of the room.
Just before Pamela enters Carmen’s room Art, seeing she is upset, catches her, tries to calm her down and tell him what the problem is. Pam is babbling and crying, but manages to say that she found her biological Mama. He hugs her and rubs her back. The next day Pam goes to see Carmen. Carmen wants to know why she didn’t come the day before. Pam says it was a complicated day. Carmen notes Pam is distracted and evasive. Carmen asks is there something she should know. Is there news about her Daughter? Pam tries to dart out, Carmen gently stops her. “is she here? Have you seen her? Who is she? “No…..yes…it’s me.” Carmen stares in amazement!
During this busy ER day, Miryea turns a pregnant woman away, telling her since it’s her first baby she’s a long way from being ready to deliver and she should go for a walk. When the woman came in she was barely walking, hooped over with pain and her water had broken. The woman goes back outside where her husband has to help her even stand. Several concerned women assist him with his wife who is in active labor. The husband runs to go get help but is stopped by security guards. Seconds later, seeing the situation, the security guards go in and try to get a gurney but Miryea puts the guard out. The woman is laid on a bench. Somebody gets Gonzalo to go over and he begins to coach and manage the delivery. He has to yell at the guard to go get Regina. Regina runs out with a gurney and a medical kit just as the baby girl is born. She cuts the cord and gets the baby and Mother inside. Regina finds out from the Father that the Nurse wouldn’t see his wife and told them to walk. After Regina gets the placenta delivered and Mother and baby stabilized, she rips Miryea a new one in front of everybody. She has no knowledge and no authority to deny treatment to anybody and Regina is going to write her up! For once the lady cur is speechless but finds her voice in Rene’s office. He actually upbraids her! Mireya was definitely in the wrong and he yells at her because the incident could make HIM look bad! What the hell is wrong with her! BUT, when Rene and Miryea go to the ER, the story is twisted and Regina is warned not to blame HER mistakes – inadequate lack of staff and materials – on the head nurse!
As Regina writes up her daily report, Cinthia checks in on her. Regina has just about had it; she can’t take it anymore! Like Gonzalo, Cinthia counsels that they are messing with her but she’s got to show them she’s stronger than them! Cinthia said she tried to talk to her Mom about the situation at the Instituto but it didn’t do any good: her Mom is all chummy with Constanza. Regina tells her that’s ok. Oh, Regina feels so bad; she misses David so much. Cinthia tells her to look for him; talk to him. “No, after everything that has happened, I doubt very much that he wants to talk to me.”
David is doing therapeutic motorcycle riding at that very moment and replaying their first kiss in his mind in vivid detail, and their first time making love! Once home, Daniel stops by with a carton of beer and to pay David back for the portion of the loan shark money David gave him. They each open a bottle. Daniel tells David how bad things are at the Instituto and how Regina is catching hell. After Daniel leaves David calls Cinthia. He asks how things are going at the Instituto and gets the same distressing news: Rene is changing the way everyone works; Ana is demanding she send all the Doctors to the OPC such that Regina is the only Attending in the ER. Cinthia thinks it’s something personal against Regina: Rene never liked Gonzalo’s team and he knows she never got along with Ana. David asks Cinthia to tell him EVERYTHING going on at the Instituto. She tries to get him to call Regina but he says now isn’t the right time. He asks her again to please tell him everything she knows and Cinthia gives him the 4-1-1 off camera.
Well, Paulina is about to offer benefits to her friend, Luis, when Art gets home and turns on the light! Busted! They scatter like roaches with their clothes half off. Art smooths over the awkwardness while Pau goes into the kitchen to get presentable. Art yacks about how hard Regina is having it but won’t let him help her. He says he’ll talk to her tomorrow and goes up to bed. Luis tells Paulina that what they were trying to do in the dark on the love seat cannot happen! She excuses herself and goes home.
The morning after the ER shift from heck, Regina takes Gonzalo a coffee. She tells what happened with the pregnant woman and the twisting of the whole event by Rene to say she, Regina, was in the wrong, while he defending Miryea. Their laughter seems to indicate they know about the hanky-panky. Regina says Rene does everything for his own convenience and never tries to protect the Doctors at all. Gonzalo says he imagines Miryea knows a lot and that’s why he protects her. Regina says they have to find out what that’s all about. Then [HALLELUJAH] Regina says, “You know what? I think the two of them must have something to do with the chemo drugs appearing in Aurora’s room. How do you explain that all the medicine was missing and none of the Doctors realized it?” We can see the bulb illuminate over Gonzalo’s head. “Mmmm, could be.” Regina says that if Miryea has done anything to hurt Gonzalo, she swears to God that Miryea is going to pay HER! Gonzalo laughs and thanks her but says Alonso will be on the case. “Yah, and I’m going to pay close attention to everything Miryea does!” Regina says.
This isn’t the last scene, but I didn’t want to end with it. Inside the Instituto Art is talking to Regina as promised, trying to offer his help. He wants to mend their relationship. He knows he made a mistake with David but…Regina cuts him off. “Thanks to you and your childish fight, we’ve got one Dr. less.” He says he wants to compensate for that. “What are you going to do,” she snaps, “do the work of two people?” About to lose his patience he asks, “Tell me something. Why did you fire David and not me? You’re in a relationship; I don’t understand your decision.” She looks away. “Because it was just.” “Do you have problems now with David for firing him?” She says, “I don’t owe you anymore explanations!” “Regina, at least let me be your friend.” “Okay, you want to be my friend? Between David and me, there is nothing!” she spits. This is the last scene but let’s see what David is doing this morning.
David goes to Ana’s house and this time he’s got a proposition. He will accept being Chief of the OPC on one condition: That Rene leaves Regina in peace. He tells Ana she should know that Rene is trying to collapse the ER department. Ana repeats her lines of how Regina turned her back on him; she would never have fired him; why do he keep thinking about her after all she’s done to him. David is as cool and even as the previous day. If Regina fired him, it was because he deserved it. Ana tries to argue that Regina is such a know it all, she can handle the ER all alone just as SHE handled the OPC alone for years! Without passion, David says it’s not the same. Ana won’t let up: I would never have done to you what she did. You are not important to her. David says that despite everything that happened with Regina, she is still important to him. Ana shakes her head and says she doesn’t understand David. David says she needs to understand that patients’ lives are being put at risk and Regina needs those Doctors. She looks at him and makes her final pitch. “One day you will realize that the only person that you matter to is me.” “Thank you for your vote of confidence, but if you don’t fulfill my condition, look for somebody else for the OPC. If you accept, I’ll start when you say.” Ana finally relents, tells him the position is his and they leave her home together, presumably for the Instituto.
Ooh! Great recap Lila! I really love your style of recapping -- concise, but with still painting a picture of both the visual happenings and the emotions of each scene. There really is an art to doing it and you have it down to a tee!
These episodes are really grinding my gears! I know it's just a story, but I think my blood pressure goes up every time Rene or Ana says something to Regina. On the other side, though, part of why this is so irritating is that the reactions are pretty realistic. I'm actually pretty impressed by the arguments people are bringing to the table (twisted though they may be in the cases of the villains), and the way all of the characters are handling their storylines. Pamela's story is probably weirdest for me though. She's super emotional to the point that it feels melodramatic, but the situation is a legitimately dramatic one to call for that kind of reaction. Given that, though, her delivering the news to Carmen felt almost anti-climatic. I thought she'd hem and haw over it a bit more, come to a firm decision on how she was going to handle the transplant aspect of the situation, maybe tell her parents first. I was surprised that she just spit it out so blandly.
LOVE that David's being so mature right now! After the bluster of The Fight and the firing, I was worried there would be pouting and sulking, but he's taking responsibility for his role in the firing and prioritizing Regina. Now if only someone would think to actually talk through what caused the fight in the first place and review the actual documents... I was hoping Regina's newfound focus on Mireya might lead there, but I suppose she has bigger distractions. Still, LOVE that she's finally onto Mireya and her sneaky ways. I do wish she had put Rene on the spot though. I wanted her to straight up ask him, in his professional opinion and as her boss and under the heading of a professional consultation, how he thought the situation should have been handled. (Who am I kidding? It would have been "if you need me to tell you how to do your job, maybe you shouldn't have it." He's such a slimy, twisty snake!) Sadly, I am not confident he's going to get booted by the end of this season; they might want to bring him back, with his sneaky, infuriating ways. Ugh!
Buenos dias y GRACIAS, de verdad, Hellashelle!!!
These episodes are really grinding my gears! I know it's just a story, but I think my blood pressure goes up every time Rene or Ana says something to Regina.
Hellashelle, I'm sorry but glad to hear this at the same time! It makes me feel less weird! I'm afraid I'm something of an empath, even with people on screens and in writing! The night Aurora was throwing up, I momentarily got sick to the stomach. And yes, Miryea and Rene make me feel positively unwell! These actors are too damned good! And you're right, I happened to have worked in health care and have many family members who did and still do and the kinds of politics and shenanigans in hospitals are real and nasty! Of course, human beings play politics EVERYWHERE, but yah, the situations are realistic. NOW, I'm not talking about Drs. treating and working on family members, but anyway, this is a different country. Health care policies are certainly different.
Thank you for your take on The Revelation.. . . her delivering the news to Carmen felt almost anti-climatic.
That WAS weird! I also would think she would tell her parents first. But you know what, Hellashelle, as I think about it, Pamela didn't look for this day all her life; she never wondered who her Mother was. She truly didn't know how to handle the situation. I don't know what Art offered other than comfort, but that an Attending didn't process this with her and at least be present with her reflects the chaos the Instituto is in. The docs are all stretched to the limit. I'm sure if Regina wasn't about to pull her gorgeous black mane out, SHE would have counseled Pamela.
LOVE that David's being so mature right now! YES! I forgot to say that Daniel said he wanted to help Regina but didn't know what to do and David told him definitively that he, David, had to find a way to help her. Yes, I loved that he was laser-focused, not distracted by Ana's emotional arguments, just cool, calm, and collected!
ITA on Regina, LOVE that she's finally onto Mireya and her sneaky ways. Yes, Girl! I could've shouted! Now, you talk about realism, that would have been VERY unrealistic if the light bulb hadn't gone on this episode!
Now if only someone would think to actually talk through what caused the fight in the first place and review the actual documents..
YES, again! The episode ended with her telling Art she and David had broken up. Let it not turn into Art trying to make a play for her but Regina asking questions about the incident in the ER that led to the fight! Yes, things are crazy, but that can't be an excuse for not looking in to things, it's got to be THE REASON for looking into things! Maybe Regina will discover Mireya's shenanigans when she writes her report! Every medicine has to be accounted for and Miryea drew up the wrong med, never intending to give it, but just for David to discover it and confront Art! BUT, when she does, she needs to tell Gonzalo!
Thanks, Hellashelle! Y'all please weigh in and knock it around amongst yourselves. I'm going to try to be more disciplined at work! Have a great day!
Marvelous Lila. Once again, you have related the events with your usual grace. Thank you for providing your thoughtful comments and astute insight into yet another troubling episode. How fortunate we are to have you as our guide, forging a path in this underbrush of lies and deceit.
So much for us to process but sadly, almost all was indigestible.
As monstrous Miryea turned an obviously physically compromised pregnant woman away I thought, well this is the end of her. How this snake slithered out of her overt, disgusting cupability is something beyond my comprehension. Thankfully Gonzalo saved the day. I had hoped the videos of the birth would hit the papers, shaming the Institute but both M and R are Teflon coated at this point, aren’t they?
“Ana reckons herself a friend of David’s” was spot on. We will put our beanies on in accepting that a physician can be fired from a hospital and be immediately hired in another department.
David’s heart continues to be in the right place but he and Regina have much to reconcile if indeed they can.
“Art continues to self-righteously proclaim his innocence”. Keep talking Art – no one cares.
“Gonzalo is solidly in the zone of optimism as he counsels his good friend and temporarily former colleague, Regina” was lovely.
“She and Tania attend a guy that has somehow gotten his upper body and arm pierced with barbed wire!” I have to say that scene seemed completely realistic and you could almost feel the victim’s pain! I had to smile a bit as Tania and Pamela continued their conversation, completely unaffected. The patient had to say “ouch” rather loudly to remind them he was there!!
“Tania says life put Carmen in her path. “It’s not fair; millions of children want to find who their Mothers are and never succeed and I, who never asked; she appears in my life?” Tania says “No, you didn’t ask, but now you know her.” Tania has many good points and she shone here, staunch and supportive, she gave excellent advice.
Why don’t Luis and Pau do what they want and get it out of their systems. I might suggest Luis get his own place to avoid further embarrassment of getting caught like children. Ack.
Lila, you are amazing. Thank you, thank you.
Diana
Lila, I agree with Helleashelle, you did paint a beautiful picture of every scene, thank you!
I too was glad to see Nasty R tear into Nasty Head Nurse, but I knew that he would twist everything to make Regina look bad. He and NHN always stress that Regina is solely responsible for whatever happens at the ER; so I suppose anyone can mess up royally and get away with it..it's the boss's fault anyway ARGHH!! I hope Regina goes ahead and turns in the report on NHN. I'm also hoping that whoever was videotaping the delivery sends it to the media. I'd like to see NastyR in the hot seat even if for a while because I'm sure he'll make Regina the scapegoat...again.
In regards to Pamela. WOW, I am still feeling so sorry for her. Being that Carmen was pressuring her so much for info on her daughter, I don't blame Pam for just blurting it out.
David is "a doctor and a gentleman." If Regina doesn't see this as the loving act it is, she is completely brainless. And I don't see why she felt she had to tell Art (as a friend) that she and David broke up. I know she has lots on her mind, but she is just feeding into his manipulation.
If Regina fired David, how is it that Ana can turn right around and hire him for the outpatient clinic. Did I miss something? And will NastyR allow it?
Hellashelle, "Sadly, I am not confident he's going to get booted by the end of this season; they might want to bring him back..." No! No! No! Please TN Gods...NO-O-O-O!!
Diana, I've always been in awe of your ability to convey your thoughts which usually mirror mine...but you convey them much more eloquently. I just had to highlight these:
How this snake slithered out of her overt, disgusting culpability is something beyond my comprehension.
We will put our beanies on in accepting that a physician can be fired from a hospital and be immediately hired in another department. Oooh, mine was definitely on and tightly secured!
Good morning y GRACIAS, Diana!! Diana, didn't you want to just choke Miryea! Not only did she turn the woman away, she was condescending and nasty! One thing I didn't mention is that Regina asked Miryea a number of assessment questions about the woman's pregnancy and stage of labor. Ignorant Miryea could not answer a single question. Regina knew she didn't know these things and that further fueled her anger, that a patient was turned away without appropriate assessment. Miryea's "reason" was subjective, based on HER opinion that there were not enough Doctors which had NOTHING to do with the patient, who is the first concern!
I might suggest Luis get his own place to avoid further embarrassment of getting caught like children.
That was rare comic relief in this tense saga! That was hilarious! But yah, get a room! Yuck!
I'm cheating at work, or I would say more! Thanks, Diana!
Muchisimas gracias, RGV Chick!!! I feel so much better seeing David has pulled himself together, is not angry and is thinking clearly. What is his first concern after the fog of anger clears? How to help his beloved Regina! That's why I was distressed to see this scene:
And I don't see why she felt she had to tell Art (as a friend) that she and David broke up. I know she has lots on her mind, but she is just feeding into his manipulation.
If Regina fired David, how is it that Ana can turn right around and hire him for the outpatient clinic. Did I miss something? And will NastyR allow it?
Let's put on our surgical beanies, Peeps! This is right in their with taking care of your son in the ICU and doing gynecologic oncology surgery on your ex-wife when you're a neurosurgeon! It's maddening, but we have to roll with it!
Just so you can see how much Univision has chopped up this TN, based on Lila's #ing, we've seen 64 episodes, yet, in comparing episodes with the episodes aired in Mexico, this should really be #74!! 87 episodes were filmed, yet we will only get 77 😝
Thank you, Lila!
For a second I thought Rene was going to call Mireya out in front of Regina but then I remembered that this is Rene we’re talking about. He’s obviously still trying to get rid of Regina. And can certainly get rid of Mireya later if he really wants to.
Hopefully Gonzalo gets his job back before the finale. It’ll be satisfying to see Rene out of the instituto.
I don’t ship Luis and Paulina and still don’t think he’s in the right state of mind to pursue anything and I don’t think it would make sense to just have Susana disappear.
Excited to see more of Pam/Carmen. The writers definitely did their job if this episode just showed a little bit and then left us hanging until the next episode but it did seem to me like Carmen was happy shocked.
There’s no doubt Ana will enjoy Regina’s reaction once David returns with a new position. Ugh....
Dear Lila, thank you thank you for continuing to give us excellen, insightful recaps of a show that is increasingly dark and doomfilled.
Mir has become unbelievably heartless and uncaring .We knew that the poor , pregnant woman was going to be turned away and then give birth outside that hospital. Super Gonzo was there to save the day ...beanie moment. ...but ..geez...that poor soul lying on a bench giving birth while strangers recorded it on their cell phones . ..a true with of the times .oMG...no ....That is the stuff nightmares are made of .
And then , after Regina gives maleviolent Mir a proper schoolmarm scolding, Mir runs to Rotten,Repulsive Rene to put Regina in her pkace. Yuck. Those two need great big ,heavy, nasty anvils...coyotes , anyone ????
And pathetic Paulina continues relentlessly trying to seduce Luis . Do any of these people have scruples ...or a heart ? UGh
Ana...hello...David is just not interested in you...no matter What you do...no matter What you offer to do. Hello???? Reality check.
Hey, TF!!! Yah, it was an unbelievable moment when Rene actually spoke the truth that Miryea had messed up! But I'm glad he and and Miryea put a lie together because that led Regina to FINALLY look askance at Miryea's behavior and resolve to watch her!
TF, that was pretty inconsiderate of Luis and Paulina to be getting all back to nature right there in Luis's living room! Jeezopete! That DOES smack of not being in the right state of mind! Paulina, on the other hand, is just asking all-out skanky!
Carmen WAS happy/shocked! That is going to be so interesting to follow but so many of you were right that it would NOT be happy/shock for poor Pam!
David's new position. People like me with mushy hearts and stomachs have quite a bit to go through, TF. Thanks so much!!
Susanlynn!!! Thank you so much! I could just copy your whole comment! Yah, it's pretty dark. I'm taking comfort in my David not being angry anymore, poor baby isn't crying: he's very soberly moving forward to help his Regina, driving a hard bargain with Ana to get back into the only position from which he could help Regina: INSIDE the Instituto! YAAAY, David!
Thanks for hanging in here with me, Susanlynn. I haven't done ultimas semanas in a long time. It's a little scary!
Great job, Lila. The Luis-Paulina storyline is just pitiful, but you had me laughing:
Well, Paulina is about to offer benefits to her friend, Luis, when Art gets home and turns on the light! Busted! They scatter like roaches with their clothes half off.
Right after Mireya turned away the pregnant woman, Tania and Pamela came out from attending to their patient and asked her if there were others waiting to be seen. Smirk Mireya said "no," so they went for the DNA reveal break.
Martha cracked me up when she gave Mireya and Rene a hard time about Mireya coming to see him without an appointment and even blocked the much taller woman's entrance with her little petite self. Martha said something like "I'm supposed to know about all the director's appointments. Why is it you never visited Gonzalo when he was the director?" You go, Martha!
The one bright note in this whole horror show is that the lawyers are investigating Rene. Yay..go get him.
kSpanProf!!! GRACIAS!!!! Oh, that's great! I'm glad I could keep you up to speed! The awfulness has lifted somewhat! And Carmen! YAH! She didn't even know if her baby survived! This is a riveting storyline!
Hey, Niecie!!! THANK YOU!!! I could not believe how juvenile Paulina and Luis were acting! But then, he doesn't want to get physical with her; he refuses to go to her place or get a room so I guess my girl was like, "I'd better bust a move!" OOOOPS! Got busted instead!
I see two great things you brought out. First this blatant lie from Miserbireya:
Right after Mireya turned away the pregnant woman, Tania and Pamela came out from attending to their patient and asked her if there were others waiting to be seen. Smirk Mireya said "no," so they went for the DNA reveal break.
And this other comic moment I totally forgot about!
I hope Marta somehow gets around to telling Gonzalo about that!
Today was a much better day, so I was able to not only watch the episode BUT also read your fine recap, LILA. And ditto to HelleShelle's praise of your style and also her comment about how this show can raise one's blood pressure. Yikes, the stuff Mireya was pulling was sooo evil. And I agree with Niecie that wee Marta calling her out on her frequent visits to Rene's lair, is going to be part of the evidence against her.
This was nicely put:
For once the lady cur is speechless but finds her voice in Rene’s office. He actually upbraids her! Mireya was definitely in the wrong and he yells at her because the incident could make HIM look bad! What the hell is wrong with her! BUT, when Rene and Miryea go to the ER, the story is twisted and Regina is warned not to blame HER mistakes – inadequate lack of staff and materials – on the head nurse!
And like everybody else I loved this:
[Luis and Paulina} scatter like roaches with their clothes half off.
I never liked Luis and I like him even less now. But that storyline just drags on and on.
No it doesn't make sense that David can pop right back in as Head of Outpatient Services but I don't care...I'm delighted. Regina needs somebody who has her back and he's our guy. Hooray for love.
Thanks Valiant Recapper for hanging in there day after day-- always brightening up OUR days with your deft recaps and warm responses. No matter how bad the story gets, we can count on LILA for encouragement and support. You're the best, kid.
Great work, Lila. If Caray had a Purple Heart you would get this year's/
So Mireya became Nurse Ratched in all but name. No surprise anymore about that. I hope some of the other peeps that were nearby heard enough of Regina's interrogation of her to testify in court when it comes to that. As for what she expects to get out of this, it won't be a wedding ring from Rene. He has no intention of divorcing Costanza; he would lose whatever social position he has.
Of course we know he will lose it eventually when all this makes headlines and ends up in court.
When Regina fired David in order to get Rene off her back I thought that was the right decision because that put him out of AnaL's path. However, AnaL had the opportunity to get him back into the hospital with that job offer and a promise she will definitely not keep.
I am not even going to try to predict how Pamela's parents will react at her discovery. BTW, I hate the idea of her donating half her liver to an addict.
Luis should just get himself an apartment and not put himself in another embarrassing situation again.
How is it that all their apartments are so big? BTW, I think David has the coolest one.
Judy! Judy! Judy! So happy to see you on the Patio! So glad today is better! Yes, lets hang in here together. Hard to believe we have just, what, two weeks and two days before this part of our medical Peyton Place is over! No puede ser!
Yes, I'm glad David's back though I have to get used to this new, quiet and sedate personality. Is this supposed to show that he's changed his "manner of being" that Regina so desperately wanted. I hope he hasn't totally lost his spark but, I'm just glad he's back!
Muchsimas gracias, Amiga! It's been a long week and we've got one more exciting episode this week.
Peeps, tonight's episode will probably post Saturday afternoon, as usual. Anything earlier is gravy!
Awwwww! Urbanita!!! MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS, I am honored!! Thank you SO MUCH!!!
Urban, that's what's so pitiful about Miryea, she's evil, stupid and dumb! I remember once Constanza, even though she suspected Rene was messing around with Miryea stated with great distaste that she could never be jealous of a woman like THAT. She definitely sees Miryea as low class and probably is not concerned about competition for Rene's affection or emotional loyalty, but about Rene bringing an STD home. NO. Rene would NEVER leave Constanza for Miryea! She's writing her on ticket to the pen for a promise that will never materialize!
AnaL SCORE!!!! JAJAJAJAJA!!!
Oh, yes, Regina's got some suffering ahead because "AnaL" is already sticking it to her!
What I'm dreading, Urban, is Art feeling the way is clear now for him to start trying to court Regina again. Uuuuf!! I know David needs competition, but he plays dirty and I still think he could go psycho.
And yes. David's apartment is WAY COOL!!!
Gracias, Urban, see ya later!
The reason David can be hired in the clinic right after he got fired from the ER is because Rene is in charge and he can, and will, do whatever the hell he wants! Ana was right in one point, when she told Regina she had not fought enough to keep David in the hospital. If Rene had a problem with David being director of the clinic, I can definitely see Ana standing up to Rene and “fighting” for David until Rene accepts (something like, if David can’t be the director then I won’t be the administrator kind of thing).
Best part of the episode was Regina telling off Mireya!
Thanks Lila!
UnOp!!!! Thanks, Hon! You said it, Girl! Rene IS in charge and he's going to make this a wild ride into the end of this piece!
Yah, you make a good point. Regina feels a lot of guilt for having fired David. Even if between her and David no hay nada! she needs to take a page from the book she's been beating David over the head with and stop being so visceral. She shouldn't have told Art a damned thing and she should keep him at a distance. Anyway, we'll see what happens.
Yep, Regina was rightfully angry! Even if Miryea seems to be getting away with this stupid and vile act of denying care to a patient, at least it got Regina's attention and so glad she went right away to consult with Papa Gonzalo in his "office."
Should be good tonight though I may have to go review my DVR of the first kiss and first night together to get the bad taste of shenanigans out of my mouth for the weekend.
Thanks, UnOp!
Buenos! Buenos, Peeps! Whatever time of day or night it is, I wish us all well, whatever be our trials and triumphs! Thank you for stopping by Your Medicos Patio! Peeps, every day the theme is LOVE. Think of one of your favorite love songs that encompasses the entire range of this wonderful emotion, whether it be the Beatles, All You Need is Love or Earth, Wind and Fire, It’s All About Love. This is our theme for this little story: Love and what makes it so precious and devastating at the same time. Vamanos!
For the love of money is the root of all evil. . . Let’s begin somewhere unexpected. The jailhouse. So let’s rock! No, seriously, here’s where we can be interactive, Peeps. I did not watch PASL so I don’t know the lowdown crooks and terrible tough guys from that saga. They play a role here, as does our Hero, Alonso Vega. So, yesterday I skated over a conversation between Alonso and one of his crack Lawyers, Ricardo. I went back and apparently one of these crooks is a Carlos Ibarra, head of a criminal gang that operates on the border between Mexico and the U.S. Ibarra was going to meet up with El Ciego the day the blind one was arrested. This Ibarra dude is also in jail and Vega and Associates have a ton of evidence against him that could help strengthen their case against El Ciego. So, it is in the interest of Vega et. al. that Ibarra stay locked up. That was yesterday’s episode. Back to grimy, dark and dank jail where a crook is meeting with his Lawyer, Sergio. Problem is, I don’t know who this crook is! Is this Carlos Ibarra or El Ciego? Today’s crook certainly is not blind. Anyway, this crook does not want to be extradited: all his peeps are in Mexico and he’s got business to take care of and plans to make and the jailhouse is not a suitable environment. The longer he stays, the more people think he’s losing his power and he can’t meet in the jail and risk undeserving ears hearing things they shouldn’t know. He needs to blow this joint! Now, this crook seems to have a conditional trust in Sergio who squirms uncomfortably when the crook mentions this. Nevertheless, he likes Sergio’s idea when he asks the crook, “When is the last time you were admitted to a hospital?” MUHA MUHA MUHAHAHAHAHA!
You’re not done yet, Peeps. Between the Spanish and the confusing dirty business Rene is conducting, I’m afraid I don’t have this scheme right and this could be important for the future. Or NOT. Maybe it will be enough to know that Rene is also a crook who, like El Ciego and Ibarra, loves money and power. Anyway, Rene meets with two dudes who buy and sell used medical equipment, making a profit by passing it off as new, reselling it to other hospitals and collecting “commissions” for their sales. Rene is all about it! He is already collecting kickbacks from suppliers for the privilege of having their brand name medical equipment in the prestigious Instituo de Especialidades Medicas. With these two crooks, he can make double “commissions!” See evil laughter above.
What’s love got to do with it? Paulina makes another attempt to remind Luis of the way they were and reclaim him through his loins. [Okay, it’s raw. I’m feisty old chick. I can talk this way.] He pleads he still loves Susana; she whines that Susana ditched him in his hour of need. He tells her it’s over. She ugly cries and it is fitting that her mascara runs and this is the image we are left as she leaves Luis, hopefully for good.
Tania watches as Daniel chats with Clara at a Nurse’s station. Clara tells him her invitation stands to grab a bite to eat together when he’s rested up some; just let her know when he’s available. After walking away a distance, Tania asks Daniel if he is going to go out with “her.” Tania wears a not so subtle look of amusement. Daniel answers yes, for sure. Tania asks why, what for? Daniel says “Clara is a good cook, she invited me to eat and I think it’s nice of her.” Tania maintains her almost mocking smile, “Super lindo!” Or, like, how sweet!
Cinthia is in one of the upper bunks of the call room, taking a break. Unseen by Rafa, she watches him pour a few pills in his hand and then dash those pills and several bottles from his locker into the trash and leave. She collapses back on the bunk and exhales her tension! Later Cinthia takes a call from Juanpa and Rafa listens, unseen by Cinthia, as she agrees to meet Juanpa for drinks after work. That night Tania and Rafa have also agreed to meet at the Bar Casual. Tania gets right to the point and asks if he likes anyone. Yep, he likes Cinthia but he thinks it’s too late; he heard her make plans to go out with someone else. Tania confesses to Rafa’s surprise that she’s “starting to have feelings for” Daniel. Rafa’s face is like say WHAAT! Yes, she sees him with different eyes now and it’s totally taking her by surprise. They toast. This night Cinthia has indeed met up with the persistent Juanpa. For the seventeenth time Cinthia tells him she likes him as a friend and cannot reciprocate the way he professes to feel about her. She denies that it’s “the Doctor.” Juanpa proposes that he give more money to the Instituto and become involved in her activities there. Nopis. She just ain’t into him like that. Well, she’s so beautiful, intelligent and decisive he just can’t wash her out of his hair: “Life has many twists and turns; if it doesn’t work out with the Doctor, just give me a chance to get close to you.” They toast.
A face that two Mothers love. Carmen digests with wide, tearful eyes the incredible news the pretty and kind Doctora is telling her! The Doctor is her Daughter, her baby she abandoned long ago! Pamela says all the information matched up; the church, the orphanage that received babies from that church; the time she spent in the orphanage. Pam tells Carmen about the DNA test and shows her the results. “Soy tu hija.” Carmen touches the side of Pamela’s face and looks closely at her. “My Mother’s eyes! How could I have not seen it before!” Carmen cries and holds Pam close and begs for forgiveness over and over and Pam tells her as many times that there’s nothing to forgive; she did the best thing she could for her at that moment! Carmen is now even more motivated to recover and she will do it for Pam, her Daughter! “I never knew my Daughter would save my Life!” Rafa comes in with the good news that Carmen has been accepted to be put on the transplant list. Carmen says she can best him with the news she just got: Her Daughter has been found! Rafa looks at Pam and says that’s good news; they have to move fast to do tissue testing to make sure there is a match and….Pamela says she will do the testing…..Rafa stops her, thinking she is being her usual overly altruistic self. Pamela now stops Rafa. “I’m her Daughter.”
Outside the room Rafa asks why Pam didn’t tell him. She wasn’t sure and is just finding out. She’s Carmen’s Daughter and wants to help her. Rafa warns her about the risks and encourages her to take some time, talk to her parents and think about it with a cool head. Pamela doesn’t have to think: she knows she will be in the best of hands. “I wanted to help her when I didn’t know she was my Mother, I’m even more anxious to do so now.” A bit later Rene finds Pamela, Rafa and Tania outside Carmen’s room. Time’s up, can “the addict” pay? Pam pointedly tells Rene her name is Carmen and the transplant will proceed because…. Rafa stops Pam from saying she is Carmen’s Daughter. Rafa says the Daughter will pay all costs. Rene’s parting shot is if she doesn’t, he’ll take it out of their salaries. Pam throws at his back that she will assume full responsibility for Carmen’s case! Before going home, Pam sees Carmen again. Pam reports that she is indeed a perfect tissue match for her: Carmen now has a second chance at life and she must take advantage of every moment of it! Carmen vows that she absolutely will! Carmen is so excited to get to know her and spend time with her; she even wants Pam to stay the night in her room! No, she has to go home. Pam reels herself back in and apologizes, saying she knows Pam has a life, another Mother and she, Carmen, has to adapt to that. In what must be an instinctive act, Pamela confides in her newfound bio-Mom that she doesn’t know how to handle telling her Parents. Carmen says she will do fine. Pamela has been sitting on Carmen’s bed. Carmen gazes lovingly at her and kisses Pamela’s hands.
Pamela gets home and rather abruptly demands her Parent’s attention. Like all painful moments, your Patio Hostess will cut to the chase. Pamela tells them how all the seeming coincidences were confirmed by a DNA test. Her patient, Carmen, is her biological Mother! The Parents, Pilar and Augustin, are devastated! Pilar cries that she knew this day might come and she thought she would be ready! Pilar sobs a painful question: “All the years that I loved you and cared for you did not convert me into your Mother?” Pam is crying too and telling them they will always be her Parents but she wants to get to know Carmen. Pilar says she understands, but please don’t ask her to accept it. Augustin asks that Pam gives them a moment. Pam gets up and tells them through tears that she loves them. After she leaves the Parents pledge that they will not lose Pam’s love! Augustin is anxious about Carmen’s being an addict. They vow that they will support Pam and make sure that this woman does not hurt her!
Love is a many splendored thing! Aurora is shocked and saddened to be able to pull clumps of hair from her head just as Gonzalo enters for his visit. “Oh no, I don’t want to be here!” she exclaims to Gonzalo. Gonzalo tells her she is a beautiful, intelligent woman! She is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen in his life. Her panic is silence and she looks at him as if she’s seeing him for the first time. He sits on her bed and tells her it is only part of the process, it will grow back. No, he is not just telling her that to make her feel better; he is telling her because it’s true. She asks Gonzalo for embrace which he gladly gives.
A bit later Daniel knocks and enters with the couple whose baby Gonzalo delivered on a bench outside the Instituto. Gonzalo turns in to Grandpapa Bear as he holds and coos to the “little precious princess!” The Mother is effusive in her thanks and praise. “If not for you, I don’t know what would have happened!” Looking at Aurora, the new Mother says, “Your husband is a great Doctor and a great human being!” Aurora says, “He always has been.” Gonzalo turns and looks at her with adoration and surprise. The couple wanted to say good bye before they go. Once again the new Mom tells Aurora, “You have the best Doctor taking care of you!” Aurora thanks them for their visit. They leave. Gonzalo tells Daniel to give his best to his Parents.
Cuenta la leyenda que hay un hilo rojo que tenemos todos. Que aunque no podemos ver, nos conecta a otro ser Legend has it that there is a red thread that we all have. Although we cannot see it, it connects us to another being. Two of those beings are Regina and David. Peeps, their tables were one, but we’ve had to separate them temporarily. The red thread is tangled and stretched and others are trying to break it, but they will not succeed! One of those people is Art who asks Regina if her firing David affected their relationship and nearly demands that she let him be her friend. “You want to be my friend! Okay, between David and I there is nothing!” “Well, I think he’s an imbecile for leaving you.” He seems barely able to contain his excitement as he watches her give orders for the day. Regina sends him to the OPC so she won’t have problems with Ana. After he leaves, Regina tells Cinthia that Art offered to help her. Cinthia thinks that, with everything going on and without Gonzalo or David, she should accept his help.
Another person trying to break the red thread is Ana. She meets with Rene who praises her administrative moves thus far: He wants her to duplicate the reign of terror she has visited upon the ER throughout the Instituto! Yes! Her plan is to pressure every department in the hospital until they do better! Ana presents her candidate for Chief of the OPC: David Paredes. Rene objects: he just got fired; he’s complicated, blah, blah, blah! Okay, if she can’t have David, she’ll go back to what she was doing and he can look for someone else to be the Chief of Administration. He says she can’t do that to him! Ana reminds Rene that she hasn’t signed her contract yet. David is her choice because he knows the Instituto, he is familiar with the OPC and he can do all the surgeries the patients need! Rene protests that he’s “one of Gonzalo’s people!” Rene is concerned he’s a loose cannon! Nope! Ana convinces Rene that she knows how to get David to respond to her and when Rene asks for assurance that Ana can control him, she says that she can! Rene relents but Ana has to do him a favor: let Marco Zavala start attending to patients. Ana grudgingly accepts.
Ana and David are in Ana’s office; she has asked Regina to come by. Regina enters unsmiling and stammers David’s name in surprise. From the moment Regina enters the office until she leaves; Regina and David pull into one another’s orbit, and never break their connection, even when it’s uncomfortable. Ana says she called Regina in to tell her of some changes in the OPC. She will no longer need to send two Attendings to the OPC; from now on, she needs only send one Doctor and that will include Residents, Marco will be first. Regina says she thought Ana didn’t want to teach. Nope, she doesn’t. The new Chief of the OPC will supervise the Residents. Regina asks who that is. David says, “It’s me, I’m the new Chief of the OPC.’ Regina is stunned and, as if Ana is not there, asks if he accepted to work with Ana. He said he accepted to work in the Instituto. Regina thinks Rene won’t allow it. Nope, Ana already talked to him and he’s on board! Ana tells Regina that Rene doesn’t have anything personal against David, “as a matter of fact Rene told me he gave you the choice to fire Art or David.” David is struck and finally changes his even tone and expression a bit as he asks Regina if it’s true. Regina looks down, then back up, nods and says yes. Directed to David, Ana asks, “You didn’t know?” David is focused and cool again, and says no, he didn’t. He returns his steady gaze back to Regina. Ana says, “Rene had nothing personal against David; I knew that and I defended him.” Finally speaking, Regina says she did it because she had to make a decision. David answers, “Yes, of course, and I’m sure it was for the best.” David turns his eyes away from Regina for the first time, looks at Ana and says, “How about we talk about work now.” He turns back to Regina and says, “Regina, I only need one of your Doctors so you are not alone in the ER. We will keep working with the schedule Ana has.” Ana dismisses Regina who looks at David and flatly says, “How good that you are here.” He looks at her steadily until she leaves and closes the door.
Regina returns to the ER, gathers the group. Art makes a point to stand next to Regina as she tells them the news of the single Doc rotation in the ER which now includes Residents. The Residents are excited and pleased as is Marco to be the first selected. Rafa asks and Regina tells them that David is the new Chief of the OPC. After the group breaks up, faithful friend and colleague, Cinthia, debriefs with Regina. Cinthia wonders how David was allowed not only to return to the Instituto, but to the OPC AND become Chief! Regina is still in a deep personal place where she seems to have been since the day she fired and broke up with David. She says Ana convinced him. Cinthia asks how? Regina doesn’t know; all she knows is that Ana knows David very well and knows how to get next to him; surely more than she had expected. Realizing she’s stepped in it with her question, Cinthia tells Regina not to talk that way. No, Regina says, as much as it pains me to accept it, David and Ana have a past, a history together. Ana is happy because she finally has David at her complete disposal.” “I don’t care what Ana thinks, I’m worried about you, Regina!” Cinthia gets up; she’s going to talk to David! Regina stops her. “No, calm down, you’re not going to say anything. It really hurts but it’s just convincing me more that I have to completely forget about David.”
The long, trying day is over for Regina. David seems to be waiting for her to leave and calls to her as she exits the hospital. The patients’ family and friends huddle together in jackets and blankets outside in the chilly evening air. David calls to her, they have to talk. She doesn’t think so; if it’s about work, it can wait until tomorrow. David again emerges a bit from his almost somber calm. “Regina, we can’t go on like this.”
I don’t want problems with Ana; I see how important you are to her.
You will not have problems with Ana.
Ok, why are you so sure?
Because I will not allow it.
Because she pays attention to you.
Ok, Regina. I only want to know one thing. Why, when you had the option to fire Art, why did you fire me? Why not him?
Regina raises her voice and becomes a bit agitated: I was there; I saw how you were beating him!
Okay. The only thing I realize is that Art achieved what he wanted.
He didn’t do anything!
Yes. He wanted you and I to separate.
David, I didn’t want to be put in this position. But ok, Ana helped you.
At least she defended her position in front of Rene.
I was only being just.
Really, tell me how you were being just?
Because I am sick of putting up with Miryea, Rene and Ana but I’m not going to leave because I’m here for Gonzalo and here you come, reproaching me!
I thought you said you loved me. If that were true, you wouldn’t have turned your back on me.
Regina’s eyes fill with tears; the two have been locked into one another’s gaze during the torturous conversation. David doesn’t even turn around when Ana summons him back inside to work. Still looking at Regina he calls that he will be there, “I’m finished with Regina.” He turns and goes back into the hospital, graciously gesturing for Ana to enter first. Regina looks in their direction and then turns slowly and then hurriedly towards her car. Once home, Regina sits on the sofa, legs covered in a throw; she cries to the sound of the voices echoing in her head: Ana talking about how long she’s known David; David saying he and Ana were together during internship but went their separate ways. As tears stream down her face, Regina asks herself aloud, “Why didn’t I realize before this?” We leave her in the semi-darkness with her side of the red thread painfully tangled around her heart.
Rene is feeling very smug and confident , so I am hoping that will somehow lead to his downfall as he believes nobody can stop him in his relentless March for money and power. Yikes . It is so disheartening to see this evil man continue his reign of terror making those in his orbit suffer. Ugh . Somebody stop him !!!...Mir and Constsnza are the ones who know about all his evil doings ,but what would it take for one of them to expose his evil ways ? I guess are best chance of stopping him is Alonso and his team of lawyers . hurry up ! Help. I don't know how long I can watch smug , conceited Rene hurt the instituto and all those associated with it including the patients . He is heartless .
Thank you, Susanlynn, Sweetheart!!! See you later!
Addition
Regina also said she fired David because she thought it was just and she still thinks it was just.
Lila, you totally rock, girl! Thank you for whipping these recaps out...and the sides are the sweetest treats!
"Paulina makes another attempt to remind Luis of the way they were and reclaim him through his loins. [Okay, it’s raw. I’m feisty old chick. I can talk this way.]" Ple-e-ease continue to be feisty and talk that way! :-)
The crook in jail is El Ciego. Creepy looking guy.
What a gem you gave us, Lila:
Legend has it that there is a red thread that we all have. Although we cannot see it, it connects us to another being. Two of those beings are Regina and David. Peeps, their tables were one, but we’ve had to separate them temporarily. The red thread is tangled and stretched and others are trying to break it, but they will not succeed! Beautifully stated!
"Regina sits on the sofa, legs covered in a throw; she cries to the sound of the voices echoing in her head..." Another of your amazingly vivid description; one does not need to see the episode to visualize this.
I'm not done yet, but I gotta get going. Be back later with more.
Carlos Ibarra is El Ciego's lawyer. He hates Vega and Associates because they bested him in several cases and his ex-fiancee fell in love with one of Vegas' super duper attorneys (Ricardo). There is a lot of bad blood between the two law firms. El Ciego is not ciego, but always wears sunglasses, even in jail. Lol
Lila, my dear, I don't know how you manage recapping, but you do it so well. Last night's episode was practically torturous for me, but you laid the episode out so beautifully I almost wish I had skipped watching and just read your recap. I absolutely LOVE this
"Cuenta la leyenda que hay un hilo rojo que tenemos todos. Que aunque no podemos ver, nos conecta a otro ser Legend has it that there is a red thread that we all have. Although we cannot see it, it connects us to another being." It took me straight to Jane Eyre, one of my favorite classics! I going to say it right now: I want a telenovela where that is the tagline and the basis. Lila, you're head writer. The rest of us are happily on your team. :)
Ok, time to back out of my fantasy land. Ugh! You guys, I really struggled last night. Ana keeps saying Regina didn't know how to defend David and UnsolicitedOpinions was right on target when she said Ana was right. They're definitely right, but I'm super frustrated that she doesn't know how to defend herself! When she first fired David, I had a pleasant little daydream that she started off with "We have a problem," explained Rene's ultimatum, explained why she would fire David over Art if she absolutely had to, and then together they brainstormed solutions. When David said in that conversation that thing he was most afraid of (vis a vis being fired) was not being able to spend time with Regina everyday, I thought, "maybe she'll say 'You don't have to! I still love you and I still want us to work, no matter what happens at The Institute!'" And they'd kiss and head home together and David would somehow use his free time to investigate the messed up stuff happening in the hospital. But I told myself that was unreasonable and reigned in my imagination. Now, however, I'm so frustrated! Why didn't she at least try going to Ana after Rene insisted on firing someone, knowing that she wouldn't want David to go either, and plead her case? David probably would've been transferred to Ana's department right then. And, again, WHY hasn't she investigated the actual cause of the fight? (I am hallway willing to buy that she is just swamped, but she hasn't mentioned needing to get to the bottom of it at all). She's making herself look dumb!
On a separate note, I am now very worried for Pamela. Carmen's putting a lot of pressure on her with all her talk of now living for her daughter, only for her. I have a sinking feeling that they're going to have the surgery and Carmen's going to relapse. (Though, no joke, the setup is ripe for a truly captivating storyline that I am now on board to see next season). I really felt for her mom when she finally broke the news. I think her reactions were totally understandable and well executed.
Reference question: I've asked before why Ana never seemed to have anyone in her department while Regina had all the doctors. At some point in the past, did Regina suggest using the residents and have that suggestion rejected because Ana insisted she didn't have time to teach? Tania and Pamela were excited about the idea and I, admittedly, don't want a reason to give Ana any credit for anything at the moment. I hope all the pressure she plans on putting on the other departments makes them crack and revolt!
Hey, Rgv Chick, Thank you so much!!! So, the dude in jail is El Ciego? Is he really blind and can't act or is it a ruse and part of his dastardly personality?
Rgv Chick, I so enjoyed Regina and David's love and even though I knew it would probably break up, I thought they might be a couple that would stay together and fight the baddies. I think the couple in Pasion was like that. So, I thought there was hope they would stay together; when they broke up I was so upset, I had to remember their love song, "El Hilo Rojo" and what the legend said. The thread that binds them may get twisted and tangled and stretched, even over two seasons, but it cannot break!
At least it had better not, or y'all gonna have to delete this feisty old chick's comments!
Thanks, Hon! I thought this was a great, even if difficult, episode! See ya later!
Ooooh! Thanks, Anon @1:15! Okay, Carlos Ibarra is El Ciego's Lawyer and el ciego is a nickname because he always wears sunglasses! Gotcha!
OH! I forgot something! El Ciego or Sergio said that "the Gringo" was dead but his sister was alive, and she could help them, but they couldn't meet there, in the jail. What is that all about!
Wow! This is getting deep! Thanks, Anon!!!!
Muchisimas Gracias, Hellashelle!!!
Everybody, let me clarify that the David and Regina's song is Hilo Rojo by Río Roma That is the song that plays when they are in their beautiful romantic bubble. It played during their first kiss, and their time making love. It is an ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL SONG and that line are the first lines of the lyrics. Please click on the hyperlink and listen to this masterful crooner totally rock this song. The lyrics appear in the video. I had to remember this song was our lovers' theme so as to not get bummed out about their breaking up.
Hellashelle, I LOVE your daydream! THIS is what I'm talking about when I answered Rgv Chick. I wanted them to work together to fight the baddies. Your daydream is PERFECT:
When she first fired David, I had a pleasant little daydream that she started off with "We have a problem," explained Rene's ultimatum, explained why she would fire David over Art if she absolutely had to, and then together they brainstormed solutions.
YES! YES!
Oh, I haven't eaten today. Hellashelle this is a bomb comment! Y'all keep talking among yourselves. I'll finish commenting on your comment when I come back! Thanks!!
Thank you, Lila! I don’t remember a lot of PASL, particularly the first season, but yes I believe Ibarra is a crooked lawyer and El Ciego is the main villain Vega’s firm is after. I don’t really remember El Gringo haha and again we know one of the lawyers who works for Vega is in a coma at the instituto.
I am hopeful that Carmen will get better but it may be a long road. I can’t help but wonder then if Pamela will give up her job to care for Carmen or not. Or if Carmen will re enter the facility (or one similar) where Rafa met her while Pamela continues working. It’s natural that her adoptive parents are sad but they seem to understand Pam’s need to help Carmen and get to know her better.
I’m still trying to understand Regina’s decision about David and Arturo. Would she have still made that choice if Rene hadn’t pressured her? And now David is back and in a higher position than before. Still, it doesn’t seem like she wants to be in a relationship either of them.
Muchisimas Gracias, Hellashelle!!!
Continuing with your observation, I like this, too:
Why didn't she at least try going to Ana after Rene insisted on firing someone, knowing that she wouldn't want David to go either, and plead her case? David probably would've been transferred to Ana's department right then. And, again, WHY hasn't she investigated the actual cause of the fight?
I guess the simple answer is the writers and producers have learned that it's sexier to have the couple fight, then make up?
To each his/her own, but I could go for the couple being smart and NOT letting folk bnreak them up! Oh, well!
At some point in the past, did Regina suggest using the residents and have that suggestion rejected because Ana insisted she didn't have time to teach?
Yes, that's my memory. It's a dumb device of the novela to have one outpatient department in a big, tertiary care specialty hospital and one Doctor in that clinic. So yah, set up for the drama we're cringing through now.
Oh, we're somkin' today, Patio!! Keep it comin'!
Welcome, TF and gracias!!! Gracias for the information on PASL. I'm getting the picture.
So remains is who is EL Gringo, or el gringo, and his sister?
and
Did anyone else perceive that Sergio got a little uncomfortable when El Ciego expressed some reservations about his loyalty?
Is Sergio maybe working undercover for Vega and Associates?
I hope Pam will be more understanding of her adoptive Parents discomfort. Carmen should totally recover, get some training and work with Humberto in the substance abuse clinic for sure! Her insight and lived experience would be invaluable!
TF, I think you, I, Hellashelle and others share what you just said here.
I’m still trying to understand Regina’s decision about David and Arturo. Would she have still made that choice if Rene hadn’t pressured her? And now David is back and in a higher position than before. Still, it doesn’t seem like she wants to be in a relationship either of them.
They have written her as lukewarm on David and having given up too soon on HER desire to remake him to HER liking. Maybe they had to break up so that SHE could see the flaws in her own personality and expectations for a pareja. Maybe they had to break up because SHE was not ready yet for David. It's normal that she has trust issues and after having been married to Sergio for 10 years, she doesn't have very good skills in dealing with a different man. The way her marriage was ripped apart one fateful afternoon wounded her deeply and she never really saw David for who he was, but who SHE needed him to be after having been betrayed so brutally. Regina told David she was afraid. She is STILL afraid and Art and Ana smell that fear and are exploiting it.
Ah, Ms. LILA, you wove together a beautiful recap, starting with love songs from our past, then incorporating the "Hilo rojo" song which is such a beautiful concept and made this unlovely mess of an episode into a work of art. Which a little sass (the "loins" comment) thrown in for good measure. Pure, unfiltered LILA!
Liked that you noted Paulina's mascara runs all down her face, as well as this quip:
Like all painful moments, your Patio Hostess will cut to the chase. You are indeed a helluva Patio Hostess, lady.
And:
Gonzalo turns into Grandpapa Bear. Yes, that scene was absolutely adorable, as was the slowly dawning love on Aurora's face as she recognized, and remembered, why she had fallen in love with Gonzalo in the first place. Just a lovely scene.
And of course an encouraging one...Love lost can be refound and rekindled. We'll just have to wait a while. But Writers please! not too long.
I too thought Helleshelle's daydream would have been a perfectly lovely, mature way of handling the situation. But a breakup was slated. It always is in these stories. And I honestly couldn't feel sorry for Regina last night as she moped on her lonely couch--she really could have handled it differently (if this were real life).
Anyway, just a super recap. And I like to think that there is a red thread that binds all of us on the Patio together as well. May kindness and patience reign. Thanks PATIO HOSTESS PAR EXCELLENCE.
And now, of course, now that he's working for Ana, it seems he's finally figured out how to approach things calmly. I hope that when people try to use that to make Regina doubt her leadership abilities (which she's already doing to herself), David points out that he learned it from working with Regina and her encouragement and reason.
Susanlynn - yup, the lawyer was definitely Julian Gil.
Lila, your lovely words prove that when things are at their darkest, there is always a small, frail seed of hope, that with proper nurturing can make goodness triumph.
“Your husband is a great Doctor and a great human being!” Aurora says, “He always has been.” Gonzalo turns and looks at her with adoration and surprise". Love had not truly died, It was dormant. Sleeping and is now awoken.
"We leave her in the semi-darkness with her side of the red thread painfully tangled around her heart". Machinations and misunderstands are not insurmountable. It is only when those who love lose faith in each other that hearts cannot be healed.
Not all relationships are meant to be. Or should be. "She ugly cries and it is fitting that her mascara runs and this is the image we are left as she leaves Luis, hopefully for good". Amen. Goodbye Pau. Perhaps now you will choose someone who is not married to claim for your own.
TF, I truly believe Regina did the right thing in firing David and the reason is simply that he did throw the first punch. I give her credit for doing so and honestly? I'm a bit surprised David doesn't as well.
"faithful friend and colleague, Cinthia, debriefs with Regina". Stalwart and true.
"Daniel says “Clara is a good cook, she invited me to eat and I think it’s nice of her.” Really Daniel? Have you learned nothing?? She is offering more than a nice, hot meal. She is sweet, smart, kind, and beautiful.
"Tania confesses to Rafa’s surprise that she’s “starting to have feelings for” Daniel". Sorry Tania, lukewarm feelings aren't enough. Can you really love him with passion and commitment?
"Pilar sobs a painful question: “All the years that I loved you and cared for you did not convert me into your Mother?” People often say they know a certain day will come but that does not mean they are ready. Pilar was clearly not and her heartbroken impossible question to her daughter can surely be forgiven. She knows Pamela loves her. The question will be whether or not she will allow another to occupy a special place in Pamela's heart where only she has resided.
"We leave her in the semi-darkness with her side of the red thread painfully tangled around her heart". Yet, this saga continues...
Lila, just marvelous. Thank you, thank you.
Diana
MIL GRACIAS, JudyB. DE VERDAD!!!!! Oh, Judy, I have to find things that get me warm and fuzzy at least a little bit like in the good old days when our Lovers were together! And yes, Gonzalo was just a SWEETHEART!!!!
And this! My goodness, these actors are awesome:
the slowly dawning love on Aurora's face as she recognized, and remembered, why she had fallen in love with Gonzalo in the first place. Just a lovely scene.
Oh, JudyB! You and all our Patio Peeps are making this respite from the terror of today everything I thought it would be. Thanks for sharing this story and keeping me grounded that these kinds of jolts are a MUST in novelas. Thanks, Amiga!
Oh, wow! Thanks SO MUCH, Anon @4:21 GRACIAS!!! I'm going to have to add your whole comment to my cheat sheet! Perfect information! Well, with El Ciego's Lawyer planning a phony hospital admission to aid his escape -- and you KNOW what hospital that's going to be -- we are in for some big time thug action. I appreciate this and am sure I will need your help in the future!
Aurora and Gonzalo: Love had not truly died, It was dormant. Sleeping and is now awoken.
Regina and David: Machinations and misunderstands are not insurmountable. It is only when those who love lose faith in each other that hearts cannot be healed.
Yes, Diana. I had to try to find a way to make some sense of this painful epoch.
"Daniel says “Clara is a good cook, she invited me to eat and I think it’s nice of her.” Really Daniel? Have you learned nothing?? She is offering more than a nice, hot meal. She is sweet, smart, kind, and beautiful.
Babe in the woods, that Daniel. I hope he and Clara click. If Tania deflowers poor Daniel, it'll blow his mind!
Oh, and Augustin/Pilar/Pamela/Carmen. What a heart-wrenching quadrangle. I am hopeful, though, that Carmen will chill out some about bonding with Pamela and show Pam and her Parents that she is worthy of trust and not a potential new source of pain for their sensitive Daughter!
Thank YOU, Diana! Please hang with us for what promises to be an action packed final two weeks!
Hellashelle @4:26 Yep, that's my take. I'm going to trust that they WILL get back together. Maybe neither was ready for the other!
Ohh, Diana, I like your point here: "Tania confesses to Rafa’s surprise that she’s “starting to have feelings for” Daniel". Sorry Tania, lukewarm feelings aren't enough. Can you really love him with passion and commitment? Tania's always been a bit of a party girl, ready for whatever looks like a good time. I would hate to have her treat Daniel like a toy that she only wants because someone else has it.
“Your husband is a great Doctor and a great human being!” Aurora says, “He always has been.” Gonzalo turns and looks at her with adoration and surprise". Love had not truly died, It was dormant. Sleeping and is now awoken.
I hadn't thought about this very much when I was watching the episode. It would be nice for Gonzalo to get his family back, but oh wow the lost time. So sad.
I thought Pamela did a pretty good job of trying to tell her parents she still loves them and considers them her mom and dad. I was a teeny bit surprised there was so little physical contact. I know at one point she seemed to try to hug her mom and her dad said to give her a little time, but she's so physically demonstrative with others, I definitely expected her to be on her knees holding their hands at some point in that conversation.
Total Sidebar: Whenever I see a "other parent comes out of the woodwork scenario" like a switched at birth storyline, and I imagine myself in that scenario, my greatest fear would be that the parents who raised me would reject me and turn me over to the other parents. Anyone else feel that way?
Diana: Yes, that’s what I thought Regina’s reasoning initially was. She’s not exactly defending Arturo either but yes, David did throw the first punch. So yeah it was really Rene using David to put Regina in a difficult position. He obviously wasn’t convinced at first by Ana’s proposition but that benefits Ana and puts an even bigger wedge between Regina and David.
"I thought Pamela did a pretty good job of trying to tell her parents she still loves them and considers them her mom and dad. I was a teeny bit surprised there was so little physical contact. hellashelle, what an excellent point you made!
That entire scene might have gone very differently had Pamela hugged her mother first, and then kneeling next to her (as you wisely suggested),holding her hand, in close proximity, calmly reassuring her.
Sitting stiffly across from her mother was likely not the best way to impart her news. But the poor girl, how hard it must have been for her.
Fear is hanging heavily on Pilar's mind and heart now. I hope that Pamela's continued declarations of love for her parents will bring them all through this.
Excellent perspective - thank you!
Diana
Hi, SpanProf, Gracias!!!! Yep, several folk have pointed out that David threw te first punch! Dernit! David has been thinking while ripping around on his bike. They're having him be very calm and measured, hardly even raising his voice or putting an edge to it. I just don't want him to go flat: a little hot-headedness is a good thing. Let's see how it unfolds with him in a different department that is not all adrenaline all the time. THAT could be good for him as well!
Whenever I see a "other parent comes out of the woodwork scenario" like a switched at birth storyline, and I imagine myself in that scenario, my greatest fear would be that the parents who raised me would reject me and turn me over to the other parents. Anyone else feel that way?
OMGosh! I never thought of that! Now that would be a switch for a story!
TF, on point here: So yeah it was really Rene using David to put Regina in a difficult position.
Rene and Miryea openly discussed getting rid of Regina and Miryea suggested using the tension between Art and David to do that and volunteered to be in charge of a plot. She couldn't see exactly how it would play out, but imagined David and Art would have a blow out that would lead to Rene's accusing Regina of being unable to handle her department and firing her. That's why Miryea switched the papers in the medical sparked the whole thing with David accusing Art of okaying the wrong medicine for a patient.
...okay, water under the bridge, BUT they were and still are after Regina. They want to get rid of all decent, principled Doctors who put patients, not money first. Rene finally accepted David because he wants Ana as his right hand AND she said she could control David.
What Rene doesn't know is that some of us may think Ana is a b-word, but she IS a good Doctor. She is somewhat short on empathy but she would never abuse a patient, nor does she see them as walking peso signs and she is definitely NOT evil. That she wants David for herself I don't like, but hey, David is dreeeeeeeamy! JAJAJAJAJA! I don't think Ana is going to turn out to be the tool Rene imagines!
Like I said before, if I put myself in Regina’s shoes, I can understand her firing David. But I also still think that firing David and breaking up with him are two separate things- she didn’t have to break up with him. When she told David he had to leave the instituto, he didn’t even seem worried about being unemployed, he was only worried about not seeing her every day. I honestly think if Regina had not broken up with him, David would have accepted her decision to let him go (he knows Art’s real intentions).
I don’t feel bad for Regina sulking all day. I really don’t. Every time she says she really misses David, her affect seems flat and honestly it’s not believable. It also bothered me that as soon as she saw David she said they had nothing to talk about? Really? Haven’t you been saying you miss him and now that he’s there you literally want to walk away? Ugh. So when she was crying on her couch, I was thinking “whatever, you put yourself in that situation.” Yesterday I forgot to mention that it was annoying to me that she kept saying she didn’t have a pareja.. umm that was HER own choice to be without a pareja!!
I did think Regina was defending Arturo when she tells David “Arturo didn’t do ANYTHING!”. Well, he may not have started the physical fight, but he did hit David, so she is not correct in saying that he didn’t do “anything.”
I know I’m on a rant haha but it also bothered me that Regina is thinking Ana brought David back so she could be near him all day, but that’s not the case! Ana will NOT be working at the clinic anymore, so no, she will NOT be working with David all day. Regina shouldn’t be upset that David accepted the position.. she fired him, he has the right to accept another job. Did she want him to stay unemployed forever?
To whoever asked about the residents at the clinic- I think this goes back to when Gonzalo first got promoted at was telling Ana he would get her help. He mentioned that they had hired some residents and Ana said nooo way, she didn’t have time to teach anyone.
I didn’t watch the lawyer novela so I didn’t understand what was happening and to be honest, it was boring for me. Sounds like their drama is moving to the hospital soon though, so at that point I’ll start paying attention haha
Thank you for the recap Lila!
UnOp, welcome and GRACIAS!!!!! Rant on, Girl! The Hostess is not the only one allowed!
Like I said before, if I put myself in Regina’s shoes, I can understand her firing David. But I also still think that firing David and breaking up with him are two separate things- she didn’t have to break up with him.
UnOp, please go up and read Helleshelle @2:56 p.m. She s aid, among other things...When she first fired David, I had a pleasant little daydream that she started off with "We have a problem," explained Rene's ultimatum, explained why she would fire David over Art if she absolutely had to, and then together they brainstormed solutions.
I did think Regina was defending Arturo when she tells David “Arturo didn’t do ANYTHING!”. Well, he may not have started the physical fight, but he did hit David, so she is not correct in saying that he didn’t do “anything.”
UnOp, remember we discussed this. I felt David should tell Regina about Art's provocations but David is not that kind of man. He prides himself in being able to take care OF himself: most of the time that was with bare nuckles. Unfortunately, Art bested him in mind games and somehow KNEW Regina would believe him over David. And he was right!
. . .Regina is thinking Ana brought David back so she could be near him all day,. . .
Well, UnOp, I think you can agree Regina was right about one thing. She DOES NOT know David, but what she does not know is not bad, it's good. Even while still smarting from breaking up with her, he got the low down from Daniel and Cinthia and told, at least Daniel, that he had to do something to help Regina. He had Cinthia tell him EVERYTHING about what was going on. Why wouldn't he tell Cinthia that as well. Not that he only accepted the job if Ana would get Rene off Regina's case, but that David had vowed to help her. Cinthia is her confidant, why would she not say, "Hey, David called me yesterday and I update him on all the $hit they're piling on you. He's got your back."
Oh, well. I feel you on Regina. I think the shocking and sudden collapse of her marriage the day after she's promoted to Chief of ER meant she really should probably have waited for a serious relationship. And to her credit, the day David kissed her mouth shut she DID say she didn't know if this was the right time in her life.
What can we say, Gals, being irresitably alluring and beautiful is not one of the problems I've had in life, so, I can't drag my girl too much; her life is very different than mine! JAJAJAJAJA!
As usual, Lila, brilliant.
Carlos Ibarra (I didn't recognize Julian Gil right away) was investigated and eventually arrested for murdering the stripper who came to his room from the orgy suite on the night of his bachelor party. The party had been arranged by his cousin Alan, who was also at Carlos' firm, but he was not as effective a lawyer as Carlos. While Carlos was in the slammer during the investigation he was beaten up by thugs until El Ciego offered him a deal: I'll protect you if you get me out of here. Carlos accepted without thinking of the consequences. So when he finally got El Ciego out of the slammer on a technicality El Ciego latched onto him and before Carlos realized it he had him laundering rug money. So he is as crooked as his client.
He was not accepted at Vega because his attitude is not right. He would have been the Rene to Alonso's Gonzalo at the same firm. See this article about PASL's characters from Season 1.
On that note, since we don't currently have a production date for the 3rd season of PASL I have a feeling that the El Ciego story -- which had a major cliffhanger at the end of PASL's second season -- could be resolved in the next dozen episodes just in case.
As for our doctors, I don't see David and Regina's relationship getting repaired until Season 2 and I have a bad feeling about Pamela.
Correction: Drug money.
One thing I forgot: Alan was the actual murderer on that bachelor party night, but this was not revealed to us for a long time. He did this with intent to frame Carlos, whom he envied for his legal skill and rep. Lazy idiot for not having studied harder in school and worked harder later.
Detailed, extremely helpful information, Urbanita! Gracias!!!! This is going to the top of my cheat sheet along with Anon's comments. Thank you so much. I know these thugs are going to appear at the hospital somehow, so this background and the link will be very helpful!
YIKES! That PASL was NOT kissy face and rainbows, was it? So, you're saying they're going to resolve PASL within Medicos? Interesting. Sounds unprecedented!
I agree. Sadly, I don't see Regina and David reconciling before this is over. I just beseech the novela gods to NOT let David restart therapy with Random Chick and PLEASE don't let Regina even kiss Art! Between being targeted and harassed at work by Rene and Miryea, Art's previous lack luster/stalky/begging pursuit of her and this break-up with David, I can't see her being in the center of any romantic storyline. She needs to chill out and focus on fulfilling her pledge to Gonzalo and I know he will be in his "office" ready to support her! I purposely left Ana out of the list of those targeting Regina. Thanks to David, he has gotten Ana AND Rene off her back. The more I think about it, the more I think the time apart will be good for both of them and their quest for justice for Gonzalo!!!
MIL GRACIAS, Amiga!
OH!!! Thanks, Urban! So Alan killed the stripper? Ah! I wonder if Carlos is really no-good forever, or could be redeemed and turn on El Ciego!
I'm usually a whimp about crime storylines in novelas, but folding this into the Instituto is going to be interesting!
Now, anybody who knows, I am NOT inviting information on actors' personal lives or any behind the scenes stuff. I'd rather NOT know those things! Just saying I hope that COVID hasn't ditched the second season of Medicos. Besides more serious impacts, it sure will be a killer of kissy face!
Thank you, Urban!!!
It also bothered me that as soon as she saw David she said they had nothing to talk about? Really? Haven’t you been saying you miss him and now that he’s there you literally want to walk away?
I feel bad for both her and David, but I completely agree with this. I give David props for saying they needed to talk, but I'm also annoyed with him for not explaining what happened and basically saying "if you loved me, you'd believe me". Like, "believe you about what?! You didn't explain wth actually happened beyond 'he provoked me!'" As Lila has said, it's incredibly disappointing that this very well educated couple can admit they love each other, but can't discuss their problems facing them in a reasonable manner.
This didn't bother me as much; Regina's kind of exaggerating the situation, but her general idea is pretty on point: Ana jumped at the chance to bring David back to highlight all the ways she's better than Regina so that she could "win" him back. Whether or not they're literally working together all day versus her being able to see him pretty much whenever she wants (calling him to her office, going down to where he's working) just feels like minor details to me.
To Urban and SpanProf--thanks for filling in some of these PASL. I didn't watch it either, so this is super helpful because those lawyer scenes are confusing.
One of my big worries since mention of El Ciego is violence in the hospital. I know we try not be bring up real world stuff, but I've been worried about Livia Brito's being able to return for season 2 ever since her photographer scandal. Now I'm worried she'll be shot or something as a result of El Ciego being in the hospital. I really want her to continue on in her role; I hate having character replacements, especially when they're in the main couple.
Helleshelle- I also had that same hope about Regina & David calmly analyzing the situation and working it out together. I know in most TNs the main couple breaks up and gets back together a few times, but in this TN we waited sooo long for anything between them that I was really hoping they’d just stay together *sigh*
Lila - I completely agree about Cinthia! There were perfect opportunities for her to mention that David had called to ask about Regina, that he wanted to help, etc. but no, nothing! There is one scene where Cinthia even tells Regina that she should let Arturo help her.. huh? Why wouldn’t she mention that David is also trying to help her?
“being irresistibly alluring and beautiful is not one of the problems I've had in life” hahahaha me neither! So I can’t relate on that front LOL
OMG, I hadn't realized it but this is totally why this romance is SO frustrating! By Ultimas Semanas we normally have a bunch of kisses and romantic moments to remember, but with David and Regina, there are really only a handful.
On Cinthia: Are David and Regina telling her not to say anything or is it just the spirit of their responses when she urges them to call the other person and they refuse that is stopping her from sharing? I didn't even think of her not mentioning David checking up on her, tbh, but I definitely wanted her to tell David that Regina was missing him really badly.
Right after the breakup I was thinking it was unreasonable to expect them to just go home together because Regina would have just fired David. Later, I thought they were giving each other some space because it was an awkward situation and they assumed the other person was angry with them. Is that how other people were reading this? As we talk, I'm thinking maybe I'm missing some nuance like what level of disrespect Regina felt about David's fight. I remember David kind of defending Regina's decision to fire him to someone (Daniel maybe?) so I thought it totally understood the "just-ness" of her decision, but when he was later surprised by the fact that she chose to fire him rather than Arturo, I thought that maybe there are aspects of his response that I'm not picking up on.
“being irresistibly alluring and beautiful is not one of the problems I've had in life” hahahaha me neither! So I can’t relate on that front LOL Ditto ditto ditto, my friends! Ah to have those TN worries IRL...
Hey, UnOp and Hellashelle!!!! Yikes, Hellashelle! I had not even thought of a possible tragic write-out because of real-life issues! That makes me sick! Bite your tongue, Girl! OMGosh! Let's hope that DOES NOT happen or your Patio Hostess is going to embarrass herself again!
In terms of Cinthia talking to David. The day after the firing, and right after Daniel left his house, was when David called Cinthia. In the beginning of that conversation she told David that Regina was doing very badly but I don't remember Cinthia saying anything about Regina missing him.
As to if David told Cinthia not to tell Regina he was getting all the deets and trying to help her, we might be safe to surmise that he asked her not to say anything? Before she gave him the full scoop, she told him it would be better to call Regina and he said it wasn't the right time. I think we are supposed to see him as loving her so much, he's going to help her unseen and not try to press her to return to him.
Of course we're supposed to see her as loving him as well but trying to forget him, letting her fear of being hurt again keep him at a distance.
Also, remember how she kept saying about Sergio that she didn't know him: After 10 years she didn't know him and THAT really blew her mind and ability to trust her own heart and instincts.
And, again, not being on the market for 10 years, one is more than a little rusty dealing with dudes.
All that said, it IS a very frustrating love story. Jeez!
