Caray, Caray!

Sorry this is a bit late, today my husband turns 35 - I had to run find him a present this morning, no easy task during lockdown (when in doubt, one bottle of single malt is always a good choice).

This was a good episode, things are happening, I hope my writing makes sense, not enough time to properly edit.

 For the first time in her life Teresa is acting like a good host, saying thank you to Eliesa and Fab, and offering them something to drink. She has to be doing it on purpose, because Leo’s icy stare is anything but welcoming. He wants to pay back Fabricio the money spent on Leslie, but Fab won’t hear of it, which bothers Leo even more. Eliesa explains that everything that happened was Majo’s fault, Tere eventually goes upstairs to see the girls and Fab goes to the car.

Eliesa stays behind to talk to Leo, explain the situation. Even SHE can tell that he’s not OK. He wants to know why she didn't call - there was not enough time, why was Fab with her - just a coincidence, they were talking business. Eliesa has an answer for everything, Leo is not buying anything. Maybe she thinks it’s normal to do business at that time of night,  but he doesn’t (good point). And the guy wouldn’t even take his money, who does that? (another good point). He’s not all that modern, all that cool, he’s just a cop trying to do his job. Eliesa accuses him of being jealous again, Leo thinks that she’s only buying time before a definitive break up. She’s unhappy with everything that he does and honestly, he’s really starting to dislike the role he’s playing. (And the Patio peeps are holding their breath, hoping and praying that he doesn’t lose this new found rage). Eliesa says that the girls are OK, this is all that matters, and he can call her when he’s willing to listen and to understand blindly.

JL is visiting with Nieves (!), offering to help. She’s upset with him because he hasn’t been in touch at all since Julia’s death (!!) and in order to defend Clara from Cobra she had to tell Leo the truth. Just that her daughter is working with him out of necessity, nothing else (!!!) JL promises to protect them both, but she has to keep her mouth shut in front of Leo.

While the Patio tries to wrap their minds around this new turn of events, may I suggest that it was JL who connected Julia to Cobra? Leo is in Monterey, his big bro is keeping an eye on Julia, she’s in need of dinero, he’s in business with Cobra, one thing leads to another… Are we still sure that Eww was the one who killed Julia? I always thought the artifacts and the black market deals were just a big red herring and who better to divert everyone’s attention from the truth than the cop in charge of the investigation?

Renata receives another nightly visit from Mauricio. She’s afraid he’ll be discovered in her room, he assures her he knows the comings and goings of all the staff, when the nurses change shifts, when the doctors arrive, when they go to lunch… He’s been here a long time and he was always very good at remembering things. His teachers used to call him a genius, he was always very good at math, he used to spend so much time in his head, calculating how and where to invest money, how to do business, that this eventually turned him loco. Now they are controlling him by keeping him locked up, but his mind is as sharp as always. He’s happy to be here, though, he met Renata in here. Ren hates the place, but her family won’t help her get out, go see Marcelo. Mauricio offers to help with this on one condition: they need to comeback. Renata agrees and they decide to sneak out the next day. This will end well. Definitely!

Sonia is asleep when Eww shows up, waking her. He pulls a gun, stating how much he’d like to kill her right now. Alas, he can’t, he desires her too much (Oh, God!) She tries to keep him calm, reminds him he could hurt the baby. He doesn’t want that, but he can’t forget how she and Marcelo cheated on him, how they used to laugh behind his back. He needs to know if the baby is his. Because if it’s not…

Leo catches Clara before she leaves, she thinks he wants to talk about the their night at the club, but he has bigger worries. He knows she’s on Cobra’s payroll, what is he forcing her to do? Clara is impactada, she denies knowing too much, she has no clue where his hideout is, she was there only once, while wearing a blindfold. What about Majo? Clara is reluctant to tell on her new bestie, she’s afraid Cobra might kill her. Leo says that he couldn’t save Julia, but he will save her. How did Clara find Cobra?? How did Julia?

Speak of the Devil, and here is JL, arriving home. Clara uses the opportunity to leave. (wasn’t it super late? Where is she going all alone?)

JL wants to talk to Leo. He doesn’t understand what is going on. He was always there for him, always in his corner, why is Leo despising him all of a sudden? Why is he judging him all the time? Leo is bothered by the fact that JL gets so upset about everything, all the time. JL explains that this is just the way he is, it’s in his nature. Leo asks why Adriana was promoted, implying that it had nothing to do with work merits. JL insists that she was the best for the job and besides, HE IS THE BOSS, and what he says goes. Leo needs to stop meddling and keep his distance.

Eliesa and Fab bring Majo home. She drunkenly goes upstairs to her room, asking Eliesa to worry about her own life, she has everything under control. The scene is kind of funny, a drink might do Eliesa some good, loosen her up a bit.

Fab thinks it’s no big deal, Majo will be OK in the morning. And he will take care of Eliesa. He moves in to stroke her face, Eliesa evades him, asks him to respect her feelings, she doesn’t want to lose him as a friend. Gracias and goodnight!

Fab’s next stop is Fernanda’s place. She fills him in on her problems, mom is dying, she has cancer and the doctors say nothing more can be done. Fab offers to help, hire a nurse, be there for her. Fer is upset, she called before because she needed him. Fab thought she was searching for him to nag about Eliesa, they were together, he was working on Eliesa for their common goal. Mom calls from the other room, Fer is not in the mood for his explanations tonight. She does ask if he’s only helping out of pity. With this woman I can’t even tell if she’s truly upset because she really needed him or she’s using this as another way to manipulate him. 

Clara arrives home, is upset with Nieves because she told Leo the truth. Part of the truth, that is, why didn’t she tell him everything? He started interrogating her, thankfully JL arrived before he could continue. Nieves is afraid of Cobra, they need Leo’s protection. But JL was at the house, he will help if they stop talking to Leo.

Eliesa is in her room, finding a drawing of Leo in her notebook. Leo is thinking about her, too, about her unconvincing explanation concerning her trip to NY with Fab. And about Fab’s help with the girls at the club. He DOES not look happy.

The next day Fab shows up with a nurse to Fer’s house. Fer is grateful. I have to say I think Fab is not a bad guy. With the right influences in his life he could have turned out even better, but what can you do when you inherit your genes from a murderous psycho?

Tere is getting ready to leave the house. She doesn’t want to tell Sara where she's going, but JL shows up demanding answers, too. She makes up that she’s having breakfast with some girlfriends, he gets aggressive, raises his fist (!) at her, Leslie and Sara need to intervene. Tere runs outside, he starts to apologize to his mother (not his wife!).

Vicky comes down the stairs, she has a gift waiting for her. It's Eww, delivering some flowers in person. He’s being thinking about her all night, she’s his whole life, he’s just asking her to be patient about Sonia, he did wait for her all these years after all. And just as a thank you for her patience, he’s going to kidnap her for the day, take her some place special. Will he go for the Dario, guns and kisses approach, or is he more like Leo, stroll by the lake and ice cream courtship? Whatever he chooses, I’m not here for it.

Dario corners Eliesa in the parking lot. He threatens her again, she has been neglecting their negocio lately. She should thank him for allowing her to leave with Majo the other night. Eliesa tries to stand up to him, thinks he will never do anything to her because he needs her. They starts menacing one another, she slaps him, he pulls out his gun. If she’s so brave, why doesn’t she tell Leo what she has been doing behind his back? Fab shows up, defends Eliesa. Dario punches him, threatens that the two of them have some scores to settle, Fab owes him the life that he’s stolen from him. Then he leaves.

Poor Dario, he thinks that Fab had it better just for being the legal child. I’m not so sure. Of course, Dario will probably end up in jail or dead, but Fab could end up with Eliesa. Which is worse?

Leo and Mario meet for coffee. Mario asks Leo’s help to get a transfer to his division, but Leo wants Mario inside the precinct. Mario guesses that Leo is asking him to investigate JL, he can’t stand the guy recently either. Leo tells him the latest about Clara working for Cobra. He thinks they could use her as bait to get to Cobra. They need to protect her, but he doesn’t see any other way to get to the guy.

Tere shows up for her first day of work. JL is following her. It’s not very clear where she’s working.

The guy who fought Dario at the club barges in on Majo, threatening to press charges against her crazy boyfriend.

In the Cantu offices, Eliesa thanks Fab for helping her. She wonders what Dario was talking about when he mentioned Fab stealing his life. Fab, who doesn’t know that Dario is his brother, has no time for his mind games, they need to act now! He will talk to Eww, he has connections, he will be able to stop the investigation into the galleries enough time so they can put everything in order. Eliesa doesn’t see anything wrong with obstructing justice, she goes in for a warm hug. Leo who?

Renata had some doubts, but she eventually agrees to leave with Mauricio. He has a car waiting for them outside the manicomio. The car takes them to the prison. After waiting for a while, Renata is received by the prison warden. He doesn’t understand how she’s not aware of this already, but her husband committed suicide some days before. Renata is shocked.

Eww takes Victoria to a beautiful house, nice pool, great lake view, flowers with a TE AMO note. Victoria is smitten. Eww  promises this to be the beginning of a beautiful day.(My eyes, my eyes, MU EYES!)

Later on, they are drinking wine and enjoying each others company (barf!). She jokingly asks if he’d love her just as much if he knew all her secrets. Hahaha, she doesn’t have any secrets. Yes, you do, Eww protests, and I still love you in spite of this. She’s hiding whatever happened between her and Augusto the night of his death.

Fab is at Eww’s house, searching for his father. Asks Sonia if she’s doing better. She says yes, she didn’t think he’d care. He does, he wishes he could understand why Marcelo had the stolen artifacts. Sonia states that Marcelo was just an innocent victim, she bought him the piece that got him in jail, she got him killed, someone set them a trap. Who was it, Fab demands to know. Come on, Sonia, you want your freedom back? Speak up!

Leo sends Eliesa a message, to meet up at the cabin. She agrees, she hugs him once she arrives, but he’s distant, which she notices. This is very hard for him to do, very painful, but it has to be done. She asked him for a break because she wanted to be near Fab, all the while knowing how he felt about her. Seeing them together last night he finally understood why they were together in NY. She is bothered that he’s bringing up NY again, she thought he’d understood her explanation. No, he never did, she was the only one thinking her story made any sense. (Ha!) Fab is always with her, following her, he can’t take it anymore. Eliesa gets ready to pout, is this why he asked her to come, to complain about Fab? No, he asked her to come to tell her that starting today she’s free to do whatever she wants, they’re over. OVER!

Dario visits his mother. He wanted to see her again, her loving eyes sooth him. Soon enough the three of them (Majo included) will be able to go away, leave everything behind. Mom says that Majo is good for him, but he needs to fix his life. Dario agrees, promises to be better. This scene is ominous, they’re not killing Dario, right? He's the key to everything, he knows everybody’s secrets!

He comes down the stairs and thanks JL (YES, THAT ONE) for helping him see his mother.  He can find his money in the car. JL says thanks. Also, Clara told Leo everything. (I thought it was Nieves. Never mind, bigger mystery to untangle now). Dario doesn’t seem bothered by it, this is JL’s problem to fix. How? He either kills Clara or Leo. Just like that.
