Imperio de Mentiras 1/26/21, #81: Pesos From Hell
⦁ At los Alvarez, Clara is looking for something in the closet for Leslie - a coverlet? Suddenly a shoebox falls off the shelf and bunches o' bills land on the bedroom floor. Leslie asks what just happened. (Damned if Clara's silence isn't as annoying as her mother's screeching denials of criminality.) Clara finally brings her a couple of packets to peruse. She hesitates in explaining what this money is. It's the money Jose Luis accused her mother of stealing from his bedroom the other day. Yes, Nieves apparently stole it when Clara and her mother went to the house to get Leslie a few things to bring to the hospital. Mama supposedly stayed in her parents' bedroom "tidying up things" in their closet. "--My father killed your mother for this money?" Not exactly, but yeah, girlfriend, he would have.... "And this is my Daddy's blood money?" Horror of horrors. Say it ain't so, Jooooooo-se!
⦁ Downstairs at los Velasco, Theresa arrives to check on things at the crime scene and trash heap that Eugenio's goons made of the household. Mario is running the CSI department apparently also now; when asked, he allows Terry to go upstairs now that the police have found nothing out of order there. She looks for signs of any newly hidden money having been found.
⦁ Meanwhile, Dario is on the phone with Fabricio trying to learn Majo and (dead) Dar-jo's condition. Fab says he has no idea and as she's still in surgery. He'll know more tomorrow and come there. Dario sends a warning to Papi Dearest to be careful since Dario's got a bullet with his name on it if anything has happened.
⦁ Back at los Alvarez, Clara explains how JL put Julia in touch with Dario; she relates how they needed the money for her father's muy expensive operation and Nieves asked JL to hook Julia up with the art traffickers. Leslie is in tears, realizing now what a hypocrite of a policeman Papi really was. Do as I say, not as I do/did.....whatever.
⦁ Fab goes to check on Elisa and Majo's condition. She says something about waiting a long while for recuperation and wants Vic gone from the hospital or separated from Fern somehow. Keep Fernanda from coming around; Ren's there at the hospital waiting as well and it will upset Mama to know this. Keep Fern far, far away. El couldn't stand another scene. (??)
⦁ Ok. Terry's found the money under the mattress (Que cliche, no?) Mario's men didn't look very closely at the bedroom since all the action was downstairs. Lucky her, especially since instead of putting all that returned money back in the hole at the back of her closet, where JL had safely hidden it all these many years, she's now got sprinkles of illegal lucre place all around the most obvious of potential hidey holes: her mattress, dresser, desk drawers..... Well, she's not a very bright woman, having married JL, to begin with, let alone staying with him all these years. We must give her and the writers a well-earned break.
⦁ Downstairs Christina Cruel Shoes arrives to examine the goings-on and maybe get a peek at Leonardo's broad shoulders, oh, and to warn Terry to be mum on the money, making certain nothing is out of order upstairs and lying around to be found. Since JL is a known, convicted money laundering criminal, Terry could be considered an accomplice otherwise. Before speaking to Terry, however, she snidely scolds Mario for not being back at the Fiscalia, coordinating activities, rather than there doing his underlings' jobs. Mario gets the broader than broad hint from this broad and leaves.
Back at the hospital, Fab has progressed from sixth to fifth-wheel status, and Eugenio doesn't waste any time in making known his displeasure. He's losing the toy-boy battle with Leo; Eliesa is only using him to get back at Leo. Fab is a disappointment - naw, really? "--Just get her out of your mind. She's never going to be yours; never gonna go to bed with you. You've lost her, you dope!" Suddenly Ewwy receives a call from Chrissie wanting her payout and a huge bonus for erasing any and all security camera footage of his two goons shooting up the place in front of all the neighbors. They have a date and will deal with it then.
⦁ Next in line is the Capitana de Adriana to receive Chrissie's line o' Superior Smirk crapola. But, not before Leo gets a chance to why are YOU here, and please leave once you're done. Viewerville gives him a perfect 10 on the shutdown-o-meter. "--Mario's at the Fiscalia. Shouldn't you be with him? After all, Mario did almost the impossible to save your job; don't you think the least you could do is to worry about doing to do just that." They do a bit of furry-ous hiss and spit over it galling Christina that she's not been able to get rid of Adri and Christina denying it and Adri warning her to back off. FF>FF>
⦁ Back at the hospital, Renutty is crying to El about poor Majo and between the two of them, neither has a clue as to whodunnit. (OMG, me either at this point.)
⦁ Sarah learns over mugs of chai from Clara that Leslie's upset now that she's found out about her father from the internet. Theresa arrives and Sarah warns her that Leslie found out about her father being in jail. Terry goes upstairs to calm her down a bit.
⦁ Alonzo/Alfonzo? visits Fernanda at the apartment to show her the official notification that the insurance company is paying her the 10 million dollar jackpot. Whoohoo!! Happy days are certainly hers again. Celebrations and congratulations are short-lived as Fab comes around. He sees Al there and immediately suspects hanky panky. He chases the old accountant out then accuses Fern of being nothing more than a whore.
⦁ Victoria comes in on Ewwy packing a little duffle bag. "--Don't wait up. I'll be late tonight." She throws a fit and says it's because he's leaving her alone. They're supposed to go everywhere together....not this time, Toots. Vic's antennae begin to spike upward.
⦁ Back in Majo's hospital room, crying over Majo's needing to cry also when she finds out she's lost her baby too.
⦁ Terry and Leslie chat. Leslie insists she's not a child any longer and knows about her papi. He's in jail for killing people--he earned all that money by killing and hurting people. It's Blood Money!!
⦁ At the same time, Leonardo is inspecting the damage to the downstairs, viewing the bloody spot where Majo bled out. He remembers the painful snub from Elisa and her crying on Fabricio's shoulder. (Me? I'd rather not.)
⦁ Across town, Christina waits for Ewwy to arrive with her money. Ewwy walks in, his shirt and tie askew, and shows her the money. She smiles wide as she unties her robe and shows him what he's really there for.
⦁ Back at Fern's, Fab gets what's coming to him. Slap! Fern reminds him he's currently glued to Elisa's skirts hoping to take advantage of her as a cash cow, himself! The only difference here is that as hard as he might influence her, he will never manage to crawl into bed with her. (Eww! That has got to sting, man! 'Specially after what Papi said to him earlier.)
⦁ Sonia, meanwhile, is suffering agonizing pains. The female guard tells her to stop lying and playing tricks like this all the time. It's not going to get her anywhere.
⦁ Back at the Hospitality Hotels of Mexico City, Ewwy comes out of the hotel room with his tie undone and his shirt cuffs unbuttoned. A minute or two later, Christina struts her stuff out of the room and down the hallway towards the elevators, twerk smirk stretching again from there to the Rio Grand and back again. And, right after this charade parade, Vicki creeps out of her hallway hidy hole and glares, shooting death rays at Christina's bodacious backside.
⦁ Ren is struggling again to remember things from the night when she saw Auggie driving off from the birthday party. She remembers arguing with him and then seeing Vicki drive off behind him. Ren suspects herself; perhaps she had something to do with her daddy's murder.
Once Fab is gone, Al comes back in to finish with Fern. She wants him to find her a safe offshore bank account. She'll cut him in. He asks how much.
⦁ Finally!! Sonia gets to see the prison doctor who tells her the baby is on its way. Sonia insists this baby cannot be born there in the prison. She's willing to pay to get to a hospital somewhere.(??) The doctor/nurse? says that's impossible; she's dilated. Sonia begs for a phone to make a call.
⦁ Back to Terry, she's now interrogating Clara. Clara says don't blame her for what Leslie found out. It's all over the internet and the newspapers. Terry says, yeah, but what about that money? Clara is forced to admit that it was part of what her mother stole the other day from JL. Terry plays dumb. Clara says she found it in a shoebox and that it had to be the money her mother was killed over. Thinking out loud she mumbles that perhaps they hadn't taken all the money. Maybe it was Nieves's own money she'd earned in their dealings with El Cobra. Clara is incensed, and yells that it still was JL who introduced her mother to El Cobra! Terry suggests she just keep the money and stay mum about it. Clara sneers back she doesn't want it. That money has been responsible for numerous deaths.
⦁ Back at the hospital, Leo runs into Majo's doctor and learns that Majo is out of surgery and recovering. The doctor also mentions that her sisters have been there waiting a long time and should really go home and rest up. Leo isn't able to do this and walks past her int the waiting room. He stops outright and wonders whether to say anything to her but then decides he'd better just sneak out without a word.
⦁ Sonia gets hold of Fern and asks her for help now that the baby's about to be born. Fern tells her it's impossible. She apologizes for incriminating her in her statement and will do everything possible to see they don't hassle her again. She asks for enough money to get herself out of the jail and into a hospital so her baby can be born in a proper place. Fern insists it's impossible. Sonia says, hey you know that money makes everything possible.
⦁ Ewwy checks in by phone with Vic, who's just arrived at the hospital. Vicki won't answer his calls. She joins her daughters in the waiting room and tries to assure Renutty that the murderer, Leo's brother, has confessed and is in jail now; she's got nothing whatsoever to do with Auggie's death. Then Ren says she's started remembering some things from that day that she's been unable to remember till about not. Ewwy rings her cell again. She answers. She fairly screams at him that if she hasn't been answering him it is probably a good reason for it! She's with her daughters at the hospital and plans to stay there with them! He yells back at her fine but why is she speaking to him in that tone of voice??? Click! Vic turns around to continue the conversation with El and Ren.
⦁ Fab arrives at Ewwy's a few minutes after Ewwy's hangs up his phone. He's hang dawg down and tired. He needs a drink. He's just found out that Fernanda used Alfonso from the company to get hold of her $10 million life insurance. Ewwy tells him it seems that Fern is cleverer than he is. He's best off attaching himself to Fern now because that $10 mil has to be under their control.

Gargoyle Vicky knew exactly what transpired. While Ewww will pay dearly, Icky will indeed extract a pound of flesh from Cris.
As usual, Sonia is alone and begging one of the many of those who've done her wrong, to help.
Renata wondering if she was involved that fateful night. At this point, anything is possible, isn't it? We know JL and Icky were there and God only knows who else.
The writers happily continue to pile onto Leslie's misery. A fatal disease isn't enough, she had to find out that her father was a crooked cop and that he lured her best friend's sister into the fray, being murdered as a result.
Eugenio wanted Fer dead, now he wants Fab crawling back to her.
So much here is painful, especially watching Angelique Boyer looked prettily pained, arching her exquisitely contoured eyebrows, sighing delicately and gently crying.
Hopes are now solely pinned on Dario to bring the shrouded truth to life and to carry out retribution.

So Vic has caught Ewww with cris and Fer has outsmarted fab on the 10 Mill. Well, as for Fer versus Fab, 'outsmarted' is a bit generous I suppose. I think we are more in the area of 'Even a blind hog finds an occasional acorn' aren't we?
So Clara does not want the dirty mnoney? Ahhhh the innocence of youth.
Somebody be sure and record it when Dario finds out that he is an EX Future Father of the Year. He will make that kid who beat Conor McGregor's ass in the UFC cage match over the weekend look like a rank amateur.

It was a relief to see poor Sonia finally in what appeared to be some sort of a medical unit, infirmary or something. Better than birthing 'Whoever Jr.' right there on the bunk. Is she one of those gals who will be by the crib with her phone thumbing through the photo gallery looking to find a match? Sonia has not been the best girl in CDMX but she deserves better, and especially the little one on the way.
But Sonia's perils pale given that she brought most of this onto herself, compared to Sara, Clara, and Leslie whose only crime among the three may be raising a son who forty years later turns out bad. Well, real bad.
Old MoJo will prolly be secretly relieved, now she can start back drinking. Happy Days are here again.
And what was that big white wrap around garment FerNasty was wearing? Her choice of white was a stretch. Was that her some kind of 'Won the Lotto' celebratory garment? It reminded me of maybe she was working on some Kung Foo moves or something. But all she gave Fabradoodle was a Vic grade SLAP!
It was truly disturbing to see Sonia go into labor and the guard thinking she was faking it. It didn't surprise me that Fernanda turned her back on her. Fernanda has only ever been out for herself.
At least we now know whose side Fabricio is on.
It looks like VICKtoria is starting to see who Eugenio really is. However she still has too much to answer for so she better not get to sail into the sunset.
Does anyone know what happens to such dirty money when cases are over?
Well, now we see the actual bargain struck between Eww and Creepycris . She helps him as a dirty cop in return for money , but she also provides other services . That surprised me . I guess she closes her eyes, and when she is with the troll , instead of thinking of England , she thinks of Leo. Loved the look on Icky's face as she suddenly appeared behind Cris. The face of a scorned woman . Is she a match for smirky Cris?. I cannot wait to see that confrontation . Wonder if Icky will be the one who finally wipes the smirk off that crazy face.

I feel like Victoria is hiding something. She keeps insisting that the killer is JL but I don’t think that’s true. Is she trying to protect Renata or she is protecting someone else? Herself? Eugenio? I don’t think she’d protect someone like Fernanda IF she (Fer) was considered a suspect.
I really liked the scenes with Elisa and Ren in Majo’s hospital room. Ren is a tortured soul and it will certainly be devastating when Majo wakes up and learns about her baby.
I was also glad to see Sonia safely in the hospital infirmary. I still have a bad feeling about the whole baby stealing plot though.
In real life it is locked away as evidence forever, and later can either not be located, or has somehow been miscounted and is now far less than originally thought.
A neighbor's house was burglarized and they actually pried a bolted down safe from the concrete floor in a rear closet. It was a heavy safe and left broken floor tiles a few places where they dropped it on the way out. The thieves were never able to open it and abandoned it and it was recovered by the local police.
My friend went and identified it and the serial number matched also. It had about $50,000 cash and some negotiables also inside. He was not allowed to open it, as it is evidence. That was EIGHT years ago. They still have his 'unopened' safe. This fellow and his wife live right down the street from me. They will prolly die of old age before that safe is returned.

As for Clara turning her nose up at found money? How does she plan on keeping herself from having to walk the streets to survive? Isn't like she's got an inheritance or skills to fall back on if that house isn't paid for already. I doubt Nieves thought of that after hubby died. Somethin' tells me she only wanted to count the stuff, not to spend it.
Diana: I think Sonia is just dumber than a box o' rocks for running to Fernanda and any others in that cruel crowd. She still believes Fern is her frieeeeeeeend? So the baby's born in jail? Ok, who cares? Elisa would be a better person to call absent Renutty. Anywhooo, just sayin'.

Sonia is stupid but what is in store for her is more punishment than she deserves.
I had written another comment that has disappeared... serves me right for not checking to see if it had been posted, the screen froze a little bit as I was hitting publish.
Diana, ITA agree about poor Sonia, there is no end in sight for her misery. Nobody cares about her, she truly is alone. Wanna bet that she ends up in the hospital just as Vic is "mourning" the loss of another unborn grandchild?
Kirby, we've been waiting for Dario's wrath for how long now? How will he torture Eww from jail? What a disappointment that he didn't team up with Fab for real. Who would have thought that he'd find a possible ally in JL?
Urban, thank you for yesterday's recap. I only had the proper time to read it earlier this morning. I believe dirty money, just like drugs, go into that big dusty evidence room that sometimes comes into play in cop series. What they actually do with it after the case is solved... don't know, burn it, give it to charity?
Susanlynn, you and me both think that Cristina is using Eww to relieve some of her Leo fantasies. Poor Fab hasn't had the same luck with Elisa, even when she hates Leo, she barely allows Fab to hug her.
TF, I don't see Vic protecting anyone but herself. What was it that she told the cops when they found her car following Augie the night of the crime? That she lost him at one point? It's like they weren't even trying to investigate...

Vicious Vic has a renewed Mother Daughter closeness with ReNutty, at about the same time Ren's 'memories' start coming in out of the fog. Hmmmmm does anyone else smell a Vrat? Maybe a rat who helps someone remember things? ReNutty is just nutty enough for a stunt like that to work on her. In spite of concrete evidence to the contrary, she believes that Mommie and Ewwie saved her life with the abortion.

Renata could be unwittingly putting a target on herself with her babbling about perhaps remembering something maybe about the night her father was killed.Too bad she is unable to keep her mouth shut.
What is truly surprising is how many items Ewww is adeptly keeping straight simultaneously without a slip up. Well, Crissy Cruel Shoes was an almost. But he has a multitude of corrupt cops on payroll, two sons who 'sometimes do/sometimes do not' trust or like each other, a pregnant wife who may be delivering his or maybe someone else's bambino, a liv-in jealous warthog, her three daughters all four of whom he is lying to.
A dirty cop and his ugly wife with a dying daughter, her friend who worked in the bidness for one son for awhile. FerNasty and her son to keep track of, and a handful of minions with machine guns, so he is juggling a lot of stuff. If he would put his talents to legal use, he could be making twice as much as the CEO of General Electric or UBS.

Susanlyn, loved your description about what everybody wants. I might add Majo, who wants a happily ever after with a criminal, while her sister, Elisa, has the perfect guy and she's keeping him on his toes. And Sonia probably just wants to meet someone who won't betray her, or take her straight to Eww.
I got a jump start on watching 'Quererlo todo' and '¿Te acuerdas de mí?.
Just a few non-spoilers:
They both seem to be more like a typical, conventional telenovela. I'll be praying for a fairytale ending.
In QT, I don't prefer several actors, particularly Victor González. However, I'm really enjoying watching this one without my special hardhat beanie. Unfortunately, Michelle Renaud and Danielo Carrera broke up just recently, and I'm wondering if their physical archon will still stream up the screen.
Now for TADM. So far I'm enthralled; and I know I'll watch it all the way through, unless it takes a turn for the worst!!!! It's really good. And boy! Guillermo García Cantú is phenomenal.
And as for an entrance song, QT has a super, typical ranchera song, which is very good. Now, TADM, is another story; it has Carlos Rivera and María José singing a knockout song. I think I've watched the video at least a dozen times since yesterday.
I'd never heard of María José before. If you guys like her songs please share some with me.

For me, the sign of a really good Theme Song is one that you can listen to over and over throughout the novela without getting sick of it.
I really miss the wonderful recapper who inserted 'Worm songs??? in her recap. Most of them were trips back in time for me.

Are agent's deep deep deep under cover? I know what we saw in the flashbacks of jl, but things don't always appear to be what they look like. These writers aren't beyond pulling a fast one like that. And theres nothing wrong with a little wishful thinkin On my part. This show needs some heros cuz as of now there is NONE!!

In real life people with this much dumb take themselves out of the gene pool before adulthood with drug overdoses, auto accidents, jealous lovers and other "Hold my beer, now watch this." performances.
