Mi Fortuna Es Amarte #24. 3/29/22: Secrets and Surprises Galor

Natalia is shocked to receive a phone call from Adrien asking for help now that he's been caught. Natalia spurns him and then hangs up on him.  She is an emotional mess.  It's a mystery what a self-serving, self-obsessed, vain man like Adrien is feeling--certainly not remorse, but maybe he can hide behind "change of life" issues.

Olga has packed and dressed in her skimpiest.  At the resort, she has a few too many morning gulps and gets drunk, blacks out, and falls into the pool.  Poor victim Vicente is forced to jump in to save her.  She wakes up and immediately lays a major suction-cup liplock on him in thanks.  He's shocked.  After all, they are only friends, he reminds her.  "--Well, can't we be friends with benefits?"  He takes her barely conscious self back to her room and throws the covers over her.

Elias is still looking for Omar's whereabouts.  Sammie (who reminds me more and more of Eddy Munster rather than Lily in that frightful pants suit and 5-inch pair of platform Mary Janes) complains none of his friends know a thing.  Elias is a man with a plan, however.  He heads over to the club.

At the club, Elias looks for Mauricio, Omi's BFF.  Once found, Elias takes Mau out of his golf lesson and over to his mother.  Eli asks Mau's mama how the bidnez is going.  Great, especially since Elias loaned her the working capital to keep it going after Adrien Cantu ran off with her cash reserves.  Since the business is bad, or going through a downturn, and Elias holds the note, Mau now realizes he's got no choice but to give up his BFF. He tells Elias that Omar and Andrea are at a family get-together at Constanza's vacation home.

Speaking of which, Constanza cons Andi out of the truth. Connie has rightly figured the reason for the rush to marry is now that Andi's preggers and asks her point-blank if this is true.  Andi and Regi must eventually admit that Andi's pregnant but Omi doesn't know. Andi adds it wasn't the entire reason because she'd just found out a day or so ago about the pregnancy.  However, she thought she might tell Omi this weekend.  No, neither Nata or his parents know about the baby; his parents don't even know that she and he are getting married next weekend   Connie later offers to pinky swear never to tell a living soul about the bun in the oven of the would-be chef's daughter, aka, Andrea.

Once Sammie learns about Connie's invited Omi and Andi to her home, she makes a frantic call to Con.  Conniving Connie is only too willing to tell Sammie about both the baby and the wedding.

Chente has to return home to take care of a problem with the business, but he will return the next morning to the resort, he promises.  Benji won't stay at the resort without him because Vulga has silently and secretly threatened him again.  Chente takes  Benji back with him.

That evening, Chole turns down a night of boozing and bedding with Juanga in Chente's unused bedroom. Vulga, who is unaware of Chente's return to the city, wakes up from her nap of inebriation.  She slyly sneaks into Chente's room thinking he's in there and that she will finally seduce him.  She undresses and jumps in, totally au naturel, next to the unconscious male body lying under the sheets, and kisses him awake.   Unfortunately, for her, it's not Chente in the bed returning her canoodling contact,  but Juanga, who himself had been thinking it was Chole.  He calls out her name.  Ruh-rohhhh!  Vulga immediately freezes.  Once they both realize the mistake, on go the lights and Vulga's clothes.  A few light insults and promises not to tell are exchanged and then she races out.  Juanga is smitten with Vulga's ...zealous  displays of her...er...sultry vitality.

Back at Chente's house, Nata is remembering the last time she and Adrien made love--their anniversary, the feelings she had for him, and her telling him how much she loved him.  She also remembers Veronica and Adrien shamelessly gushing over his and Nata's marital bliss at the anniversary party.

Back in the barrio, Nata and Chente put Benji to sleep.  It's apparent that they enjoy this familial moment. (Cue the overlay of Lucia in angel's wings  peeking in from on high.)

Adrien, meanwhile is also remembering Nata and perhaps regretting all those bridges he's burned.

Thanks, Jardinera, for your very fine recap of a madcap episode. “Sultry vitality” was a good one.

Chente needs to smarten up around Olga. His “good guy” attitude just feeds her idea that she has a chance with him. That will lead to more trouble. He needs to kick her to the curb at least once to make sure she gets the message in her twisted noggin.

Andrea is more stupid than I thought. A “pinky swear” with Connie? What planet is Andrea living on?

Jarifa: ITA all the way! Connie was truly conning Andrea and is worse than before. I almost thought she might be redeemable with the weekend but no, it is only for herself and her own self-esteem. Andrea is still a child and again has no business dating a college man, because he really is and she's not even out of high school. Mau has the right idea, though. Why put up with the likes of an Andrea?

Jardinera, thank you for the excellent recap which will help me when I am able to watch it.

You perfectly nailed the definitive "Sammie": "(who reminds me more and more of Eddy rather than Lily Munster in that frightful pants suit and 5 inch pair of platform Mary Janes". Love it! Butch Patrick would be so proud...

I fear Adrian will pull the "I'm the father of your children card" to try to get her to help him. I hope she remains resolute even if there was something she could do, which I don't think she can anyway.

Her potential in laws are reason enough for Andrea to run to the hills. But Omi is sweet, if a bit dense and now she has her child to fight for. Is she up to it? It's too bad Connie found out, three more lives to ruin, handed to her on a silver platter. All in a bad witch's day's work.

Jarifa, Chente does need to wise up to Olga. He really should not ever see her alone without someone else present. At least her scheme with Chente failed. Poor unlucky Juanga.

Thanks so much Jardinera!

Diana

Great work, Jardinera.

Well, this revelation came two episodes earlier than I expected it, but just as well. These writers aren't wasting that much of our time. Andrea is an idiot if she keeps this pregnancy, especially since she would have in-laws from the deepest level of hell. Who is betting that the marriage will not take place?

Natalia had better not do anything for Adrian. He deserves nothing. However, I could see him playing the Father of My (Wayward) Child card to try to get custody of Andrea if he hears about her being pregnant. Since she will be 18 in less than a month now, that is a moot point.

Constanza's betrayal of Andrea was no surprise.

I don't think Vulga was drunk. That whole thing with falling into the pool was deliberate.

More later.

I was thinking that also but didn’t know for sure about Vulga’s pool antics

Chente needs a vulgameter

Jardinera: Awesome job on the recap of last night's episode. Olga is getting on my damn nerves

Jarifa: Chente & Natalia having dinner. What could possibly go wrong ?

UA: Alondra is an idiot!

Diana: Wasn't shocked about Constanza betraying Andrea.

Steve Boudreaux

Steve, what could possibly go right?

Thanks, Jardinera, excellent recap. I was so mad at Olga throughout the episode. Chente needs to wise up. His brother should tell him what happened. But we have the people that tell when they need to be quiet, and then the ones that should speak up and don’t.

I’m actually feeling sorry for Andrea. She will never escape the wrath of her in-laws. I hate to think how they’ll handle the baby news-but not well. I feel bad for Omar too. How’d he turn out decent! Although his parents are willing to help some people. And I agree, a wedding is looking unlikely.

Jardinera, thank you for this excellent recap! I am only now getting a chance to view the episode. This is one time that preemption for fútbol actually is a good thing. I now have at hand your recap if/when I don't understand something in the show. And I think I actually prefer reading a fun recap first, I wind up pausing the show less as I now have a good idea what just happened   :-)

I will admit to FFWDing to this scene "Juanga is smitten with Vulga's ...zealous displays of her...er...sultry vitality." Poor/lucky Juanga!

Diana, "It's too bad Connie found out, three more lives to ruin, handed to her on a silver platter. All in a bad witch's day's work." Yes, bad witch indeed   :-)

Elías is no fun at all. Sammie, on the other hand, is. And I don't think she's quite as evil as Elías. At least I hope not.

Andy

Thanks, Jardinera. Terrific job.

Olga must've really been drunk to mistake Juanga's body for Chente's. Juanga must've been some sleepy to mistake Olga's body for Chole's. Oh well, if you can't be with the one you want, love the one who hops in.

Yep, Olga was faking in the pool. I think Chente suspected as much because he sure took his sweet time to start resuscitation.

Poor Natalia can't catch a break. I am going to love [not!] the story Adrian concocts to explain how that woman got him to abandon his family and embezzle from everyone.

Jardinera... " zealous displays ...of sultry vitality ".../I am writing it down. You know how much I love adjectives . Vulgar Olgar is even too much for Randy Juan . She's extra.

Yes , Sammie as Eddie Munster . I also got Beetlejuice vibe from her graphic black and white outfit .

Could Andrea make any more tragic decisions ?

To me Sergio always has a smarmy look . How did Nat fall for this weasel ? I guess we know that he will return. Just what Nat needs..more awful people in her orbit.

Connie is just an outright nasty soul, and unhappy person who can't stand to see a to be else happy.

Niece/ITA with both of you.

Thanks all for stopping by to opine. Lots of bad vibes on the Andi and Nara front where Papi is concerned and then with an unexpected pregnancy and a set of in-laws who hate the girl their baby boy chose. Ugh!!

OT—JudyB

I received this message from Judy’s daughter—I know you will be sending Judy prayers, good vibes and good thoughts—

Hi, this is Julie, Judy Backoff’s daughter. We wanted to let you know that she had a stroke and is in Riverside Hospital. She’s got a lot of recovery to do and, as you can imagine, she hates not being up and about but is stable and progressing well.

OT

I will be copying any comments/messages for Judy and sending them to her daughter so that she can read them to her.
